1 Aug 1993 Jerry Seinfeld declares in his autobiography Sein Language: "I am not gay, I am however, thin, single, and neat."
6 May 1994 Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford spend $30,000 on a full-page ad in the London Times. "We are heterosexual and monogamous and take our commitment to each other very seriously. Reports of a divorce are totally false. We remain very married. We both look forward to having a family. Marriage is hard enough without all these negative speculations." The couple separates six months later.
30 Mar 1995 Hollywood publicist Robert Garlock declares: "The rumor was printed in a French magazine that Keanu had married David Geffen and the story has taken on a life of its own. It's not true. Keanu has never met David Geffen, and Keanu is not gay."

11 Apr 1996 USA Today reports the discomfort of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actress Terry Farrell, who had to kiss a woman in the episode Rejoined: "As an actress it was not easy. I'm not attracted to women sexually."
Nov 1996 Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York assures Diane Sawyer that her ex-husband Prince Andrew is 100% straight: "There is absolutely no chance he can be gay. A lot of people believe that's true—and it is categorically not true."
2 May 1997 Eddie Murphy tells Entertainment Tonight: "I love my wife and I'm not gay. I'm married with three children. I'm not going to be out there screwing hookers off the street or anything like that. I'm just being a nice guy... I was being a good Samaritan. It's not the first hooker I've helped out. I've seen hookers on corners... and I'll pull over... and they'll go, 'Oh you're Eddie Murphy, oh my God,' and I'll empty my wallet out to help."

Dec 1998 During an online chat, comic actor Dave Foley is asked whether he might try Broadway. Foley responds: "I have only ever considered it when people have asked me if I've considered it. 22 Apr 1999 In Los Angeles Superior Court, lawyers for Tom Cruise file a libel suit against the Star over an article which claimed Cruise required an acting coach for the love scenes between him and wife Nicole Kidman in the film Eyes Wide Shut. The suit is settled in October.
1 May 1999 During Fedcon 7 in Bonn, Germany, Star Trek: Voyager actress Jeri Ryan is asked by some Trekkie whether Seven-of-Nine might someday become romantically involved with Captain Janeway: "I think it's fine. I have a lot of homosexual friends. It's not an issue that bothers me or whatever. I'm not homosexual but I have no problem with people who are."
Sep 1999 During an interview with Playboy magazine, Kevin Spacey is asked about the rumor that he's gay. Spacey replies: "It's not true. It's a lie."
2000 In an interview promoting her autobiography, actress Camryn Manheim declares: "I lived in Santa Cruz, which has a large population of lesbians, and they tried to recruit me for the longest time and, of course, I gave it the good ol' college try... 16 Jul 2000 In an interview with Newsday, SNL cast member Cheri Oteri shares: "I was going to a spa with a girlfriend, and my grandma asked, 'Is she your companion? I'd like to meet your companion.' I was like, 'Oh, grandma, I'm not gay!' She says, 'Oh, baby, I pray for you to find a nice man.'"
18 Aug 2000 Kenneth Branagh declares: "As it happens, I'm not gay. But I'll certainly let everybody know if and when I discover that I am."
Nov 2000 3rd Rock from the Sun star Kristen Johnson tells the National Enquirer: "I am not married. I am not gay."
2 May 2001 In Los Angeles Superior Court, lawyers for Tom Cruise file a $100 million libel suit against gay porn star Chad Slater (aka Kyle Bradford), over an interview allegedly given to Actustar magazine. According to the suit, Slater "concocted and spread the completely false story that he had a continuing homosexual affair with Tom Cruise and that this affair was discovered by Mr. Cruise's wife, leading to their divorce."
28 Jun 2001 Asked whether it bothers him when the media reports he's gay, Matt Drudge tells the Miami New Times: "No, because I'm not." In the same interview, Drudge declares: "I go to bars. I go to straight bars, I go to gay bars. [Author Jeannette Walls] never said there was sex; she said there was dating. She never had enough to go that far."
