I describe how I made the website ThisWaifuDoesNotExist.net (TWDNE) for displaying random anime faces generated by StyleGAN neural networks, and how it went viral.

Discussion of TWDNEv3, launched January 2020. TWDNEv3 upgrades TWDNEv2 to use 100k anime portraits from an anime portrait StyleGAN-2, which removes the blob artifacts and is generally of somewhat higher visual quality. TWDNEv3 provides images in 3 ranges of diversity, showing off both narrow but high quality samples and more wild samples. It replaces the StyleGAN 1 faces and portrait samples.
