“Smoking and Sports Participation”, Judith R. Koopmans, Lorenz J. P. van Doornen, Dorret I. Boomsma1994 (, ; backlinks; similar):

It has long been recognized that both smoking and sports participation tend to cluster in families.

In this chapter, we first describe the current status of smoking and sports participation as cardiovascular risk factors. After an outline of the principles of the quantitative genetic approaches to the analysis of individual differences in behavior, we will review the literature on genetic and environmental determinants of smoking and sports participation.

In the second half of this chapter, results from the Dutch Twin/Family Study of Health-Related Behavior are presented.
