I'd suggest anyone here that is interested in improving their short-term memory to check out http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/

While I haven't taken an IQ test to see if it has garnered any IQ improvement, I can say I started off at dual 4-back only 2 weeks ago and I am now nearing dual 6-back. I can also attest to a pretty large working memory improvement, beyond what I would call placebo (the effects of which I am very well aware). Even if it is not very effective, I still say this game is fun.

Try to be one of the monsters who hits 11-12 back. There are a few. Unsurprisingly, their IQ (unless they were lying) lied between 149-160. This suggests a positive correlation between this game and IQ.

I am around 135~ IQ, which I will state is commensurate with 4-back in the game. Since I am now almost breaking 6 back, I am hoping I received a 5 iq increase or so. I am interested to see what Limitz's results would be, as he most likely has the highest iq of anyone on rohitab. Echo hits 7 back pretty regularly, which is impressive.

    Anyway, happy n-backing.

It's of no importance if you aren't actually putting your mind to the test.

I've actually been hitting 8-back, in the past few days (not consistently though). :)

Interesting game. I am doing well only with letters, seem to have a problem remembering the position of squares.

Maybe this is revealing that you have some sort of spatial memory issue? I'm around 68%/68% average for both @ 5 back, so I think you should be pretty equal in both areas.

I've figured out a 'method' for remembering squares. I try to visualize the change in position of squares as vectors. It really helps :)

Thanks unfunf, I've a great problem with short term memory. I will report back in months if this actually works. My great problem is visualization, I can't visualize anything that I've never seen. For example, I can't visualize a face that I haven't seen before. My question to the guys who are good at this game is, can you multiply numbers in (Milli)seconds, without using any paper? For example, 128 X 28 took me about 15 seconds to solve and the problem was that I forgot the intermediate numbers when I was solving and I had to start all over again, I hope this exercise will help.
