ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A mother and daughter from North Carolina face charges after authorities said they found 11 pounds of marijuana in a package in the mail.

Sarah Jean Plyler, 51, of Rockwell, and her daughter Alishia Michelle Plyler, 28, of China Grove, face charges in connection to the incident.

Authorities started investigating earlier this year after a suspicious package was to be sent to an address in China Grove. The package allegedly came from Texas and was addressed to a fictitious name.

The package was delivered and investigators said the suspects were later found to be the recipients. Both suspects face one count of trafficking marijuana by possession.

Alishia Plyler was additionally charged with felonious maintaining a dwelling to keep/sell controlled substances. Bonds were set at $5,000 each.
