Around 12:45 p.m. Thursday the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with help from the state police Financial Crimes and Computer Crimes units, executed a search warrant at Soeffing's Oswego apartment.

Police said investigators discovered 809 illegally possessed prescription Xanax pills, a small amount of marijuana and more than $170,000 in cash.

Soeffing is accused of possessing the drugs with the intent to sell them, but authorities did not provide details or say what led them to him. Soeffing was arrested and charged on Friday. A spokesman for the Oswego County Drug Task Force could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.

The task force includes the Oswego County District Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office, University Police, Oswego police and Fulton police.

In the fall of 2011, Soeffing was charged with flooding part of a campus residence hall. According to an Oswegonian article, he was arrested after a game of football in one of the hallways damaged the sprinkler system. Several rooms flooded.

Soeffing was arraigned in Oswego City Court and ordered held at the Oswego County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
