DescriptionFun fact: In the printing trade, a large, possibly illustrated capital letter used to introduce a chapter is called a drop capital or dropcap. This one's by AJ Donnell for Chapter 7 of the 1948 Fantasy Press edition of Skylark 3 by E.E. "Doc" Smith. Signatures by both the artist and the writer is a definite plus. Donnell's art is virtually impossible to find these days.Social/Sharing |

The rocket age imagination was fueled by illustrations such as this! It showed a vivid image of these fantastical ships that made it look real to the average reader.
