NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
An investigation by the Metro Police Department has resulted in the arrest of three people and the seizure of 21,000 pills.
An alleged drug ring shipped highly addictive Xanax pills from California to Nashville.
Narcotics detectives, with the assistance of U.S. postal inspectors, executed a search warrant Thursday at 411 Brooksmill Circle. Three people were arrested at the home. Markuite Matthews, 20, was arrested along with 22-year-old Demarcus Blue and 18-year-old Adrevious Rayner.
A parcel of 5,000 Xanax pills was delivered to the home on Thursday morning. Law enforcement officials had already intercepted 16,000 pills at an earlier time.
All three people denied ownership of the parcel. However, police say they observed Matthews opening the package while standing on the balcony of the residence.
All three are charged with possession of Xanax for resale.
