Model : manmaru-mixsamplers : euler A

following this post, I made a panels first and put cn-openpose-puppet inside of it to get a good base page. I generate about 50 images per pages with cn-openpose active up until I found good one. Then, I put them on img2img, inpainted each characters accordingly while using controlnet inpainting (preprocessor : inpainting only). repeat this up until page 4.

Reference for the manga : https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/13y7dox/the_great_use_of_rags/
and countless tiktok waifus videos in this subs.

How long did it take in your estimation from the start to final completion?

[–]Deathmarkedadc[S] 19 points20 points  (36 children)

20 mins for panelling, 30 mins to find those pesky poses, 2 hours ish to get all the good base pages (while doing other things), 1 hour ish for inpainting and 40 mins to write the dialogue and put it inside speech bubble. 5 hour or less in total.

Nah, but twitter tells me you press a button and it takes no skill. ;)

I'm hoping in the future it becomes easier to train a model to your own vision and imagination, making the raw output closer to what your mind would have created in the first place. Working in SD is like being a Creative Director telling a team of (sometimes very stubborn) artists what I want to see. Tools like CN only further that feeling. While I have more control, I somehow feel more detached from the project.

Thats pretty impressive speed. I’m working on my first page and I’m at least 15 hours in, just with generation and inpaint. I’m finally getting there but I was such a newb. Had to research panel layout, making speech bubbles, various styles of bubble for different situations etc.

What did you refer to to make the mangas? It's not American comics right, the mangas?

Have you tried to create a page where it is mostly action? like fighting ?

[–]PlantHour4560 11 points12 points  (8 children)

How do you solve the problem, that every time a different character comes out?

[–]Natsu_-_drag 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Man for me I use the same seed or put a character face in controlnet

[–]nicolastrokesss 0 points1 point  (1 child)

what setting do u use in controlnet?

[–]Natsu_-_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I use reference_only in processor and check pixel perfect....and play around a little with few settings....these give me good results

[–]Captain_Pumpkinhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super cool! I love the character consistency! If I didn't know better, I'd think this was hand drawn!

[–]tgredditfc 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Looks ok! BTW, the speech bubble positions and fonts sizes are something to consider when you do j-manga style.

[–]TheTrueTravesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idky you're being downvoted. They are using manga style images, but using an English speaking text format. I think either way is fine, but more attention to detail is needed (but great for a fairly quick experiment)

I both love this and have some suggestions.

It's always great to see people doing projects on top of SD stuff, and the pics are beautiful, expressive, well composed.

But is it just me, or are their emotions, especially the boys on page 1, kind of hard to read? May be a limitation of the generator. But at least you used unique hair/eye color combinations to help us distinguish them, what with changing hairstyles. So visually it's still quite readable, good job.

A few times I noticed the order of the text being strange - as far as I know, the rule is "top down, then left to right", while you used "left to right, then top down". Ideally, you'd place speech bubbles in such a way so that it doesn't matter which set of rules you read by.

I'm also not sure about the writing and punchline. The setup, the first two pages, is great and the references and SD knowledge works really well. But in the last two, I see:

  1. she was overwhelmed by tech speak (I think)
  2. but then she was turned off by the type of content they generated?
  3. and later she found she needed the skills in order to generate different type of content

These three points individually are fine, but they don't seem to mesh together. The comic doesn't seem to come to a conclusion that ties up all these things together, I don't see a clear message there. Or am I just being dumb here? Also, a good script is hard to create, I probably couldn't do better, so it's not a criticism, just an admission that I'm confused.

All valid points, the lora for the boys is not as strong compared to the girl which made their hairstyle went all over the places. Speech bubble and dialogue were haphazardly thought and placed on the fly afters I finished the pages (keeping in mind of the rough story while doing it). I guess i havent communicated it well for the story since its simply a girl who got turned off by the type content that the boys generated, but she herself is following their method to make content (furry) that might not be pleasant for some.

[–]dapoxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I missed that she was doing furry content. I see your point now.

[–]TheTrueTravesty 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's only a single panel that I think the bubbles are a little out of order , which is when she questions the use of rags. The first bubble is bottom left, then hers in the middle up too, and the last bubble bottom right. I think it still reads fine, tho.

[–]dapoxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the rags one is out of order. But the last page is close to ambiguous too.

[–]Critical_Reserve_393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So hilarious! Very Awesome!

[–]Inner-Reflections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So meta I love it!

[–]DavesEmployee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want what she’s having

[–]GilZing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me fr.

[–]panda6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice, good job!

[–]manman1789 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool

[–]MidSolo -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Hate to be that guy but... if it's written left to right, in color, has this much text... it's a comic, not a manga.

[–]TheTrueTravesty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main thing that actually determines if it's a manga, is whether or not it originated in Japan. The direction of the panelling is based on how they traditionally write text - top to bottom, right to left. "Manga" is an umbrella term for all Japanese comics and graphic novels (which would be longer and possibly more text heavy). Similarly with Chinese Manhua and Korean Manhwa.

[–]selvz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent

[–]fuelter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the order of panel 1 and 2 is messed up. manga is read from right to left top to bottom. Your's reads left to right....

[–]Natsu_-_drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in a process to understand SD so I can make my manga 🤩.

[–]Yudi_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is actually quite useful.

[–]ajmusic15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nani? Very useful

[–]Naglareffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job, that's a great piece of experiment. One thing that is throwing me off is that there is quite a noticeable difference in individual image resolutions. I think some post-processing would help fix this, making sure each part of the frame has the same resolution/sharpness. The other post that you linked for reference was able to handle this somehow.

This detail aside, this is pretty cool!

[–]Altruistic_Bunch1334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stable diffusion creating manga wanted an application to create manga on mobile

[–]Usual_Ad970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This full colour manga is really funny.
So true....If this was not so much work this would make an insanely cool tutorial video series about SD.

PS.:Where do you look for your poses?

[–]Actual_Storage6680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro how did you do it, can you please fill me up with the details for creating something my own. It will be great 👍 👌

[–]7snoww 0 points1 point  (1 child)

more plz

[–]Character_Tour2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will there even be more?

[–]TheJungLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing stuff! If you ever have a chance to post a video of your workflow, would really love to see it!
