I saw some discussion around how Inpainting can actually be used so I'm going to start posting about how I use it. In general it is just useful to help regenerate a portion of the image that is not quite there yet.

In this case, I had a drawing I made, and I wanted to see Dalle generate it in different styles. After learning about how Dalle can handle two styles at once from the cat drawing experiments, I tried the same method.

This is the initial image. It has transparency so Dalle will treat the transparent parts as having been erased.

The prompt was something like "digital art on the right of the same sketch on the left"

It did not generate much that was good. I tried changing up the prompt to explain the sketch a bit and same result. The image clarity was not there.

Next I attempted to seed a style, much like we did for the cat experiments. I started with a sticker illustration that Dalle made that I liked the style of, and erased parts of it leaving only strokes of color. This did much better.

I erased more strokes so that Dalle has more room to be creative.

Lastly, I tried seeding it with background brush strokes. I took the background of a digital painting that Dalle made that I liked the look of and took some of the grass in the background to make my seed.

Didn't give good results. It was just a bad run because I ran it again and got something.

I liked the half drawing in the bottom right, so now I inpainted that one to remove MY drawing so Dalle can fill in the rest.

He was looking too young so I changed the prompt from boy to man. I didn't take a screenshot here but the link in the post is from that run.
