I spent waaay too much time on my dissertation rewriting things over and over. Bet I could have finished six months earlier with ChatGPT to help with writing. Proofread by a human, of course.
it seems like a good tool for cleaning up language and not so good for hallucinating whole experiments, although for the most meaningless/ceremonial stuff maybe it's just as well to do it efficiently haha

it's so crazy to me. do they not even bother *reading* what they generated before they publish? crazy.
it's entirely possible that these kinds of papers are never read by anyone except us

Exciting times in academia as AI finds its way into scholarly articles! Let's tread carefully and prioritize ethical considerations. As we expand AI's role, let's safeguard against unintended consequences and preserve the essence of human intellect and creativity. #AIScholarship
haha something about the tone of this is suspicious...

No, no, you see, those journals are expensive because quality editing and curation require a lot of resources.
I feel slightly guilty about posting this now I didn't expect it to get so much attention, most journals have very different problems from this (though still very serious problems)

omg it's true, and it's not only the case for AI-related articles where they did it on purpose, here is one e.g. eipublication.com/index.php/…
I searched with -chatgpt to get fewer genuinely AI-related hits, there seemed to be dozens at least
