My solution to handle ChatGPT in my Algorithms class: turn the tables and make it an assignment. I prompted ChatGPT with an actual exam question from last year and got 5 different "solutions." The HW asked the students to mark all 5 and figure out everything that was wrong. 1/2

Spoiler alert: of course, it was pretty much all wrong, in various ways: from basic nonsense to reasonable-sounding but flawed answers. The point being, students can use these tools if they want! But they should to understand the material well enough to assess their output. 2/2
