Messing with AI generated historiated initials. This is an incredible use case for me. I hate modern minimalist design. I love elaborate ornamentation. But I lack the skill to do it quickly. If I start blank with a sketchbook or Illustrator, one glyph will take like 1 or 2 days

Design with AI feels similar to me to programming with AI. Don’t use the AI to generate something shippable. Delegate some specific thing to the AI, then edit. With programming you just edit the code, with design you import into image editors and extract/edit the pathing, etc.
AI image gen *really* struggles to use lower case lettering
The prompt engineering continues MJ tends to give more intricate patterns than DALLE I generally find it much harder to control MJ, so it’s more of a numbers game, but when it slaps it slaps hard
There’s a long ongoing @gwern thread on this that I can’t share and that feels rude to screenshot but if you follow him definitely go look it up

Wonder if controlnet with diffusion would be fantastic at this, vs naïve generation
I didn’t get better results but I’m not that good at it So far dalle3 is overall the best, but again, might be because I’m more skilled with the model
