The Zodiac Killer terrorised the citizens of San Francisco with a series of murders in the early 1970's. The killer would write taunting letters to San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Cain with proof of his deeds. He remains at large, most likely dead, in prison somewhere or retired. Few serial killers manage to make such a splash and remain anonymous.
