This hit me weeks ago, making PDFs *very* hard to read (colors disappear from graphs, citation fns invisible), no discussion I can find, and my only solution thus far is editing about:config's `pdfjs.pageColorsBackground`/fg to del 'canvas'.

    • 𝔊𝔴𝔢𝔯𝔫 @gwern Jul 5 Like a dog returning to its vomit, I'm unable to stop fiddling with tweaks to citation formatting. The standard 'et al' is just 𝘴𝘰 bad and I have to look at it so many times a day I can't forget about it. #3, ellipsis + subscript date, continues to look best.

It'd be shredded by the service after scanning, of course... Did it anyway. I think he'd understand.

    • 𝔊𝔴𝔢𝔯𝔫 @gwern Jul 1 I am however now fully happy with the appearance & navigation experience of the tags, so that's done. Next thing there is to figure out how to get embeddings into R so I can begin auto-tagging new annotations & clustering old over-populated tags into better sub-tags.

I mean exact, down to posture. It even answers the Gendo's silent line question! (Yes, it was ~"I truly loved you".)

There were only so many ways to extrapolate Moore's law or ballpark human brain FLOPS, so unless you went full Penrose (you never go full Penrose), within that paradigm, you will get 2020-2050.
