Title: Australia - Are the serials of express post parcels tracked?
Post by: newtoSR on April 11, 2013, 03:25 pm
As in, if I was to buy an express post parcel and it was intercepted in the mail (by chance). Could LE (through aus post) discover where that parcel was bought from?

similarly, how close are they able to pinpoint where a letter/parcel etc was dropped off from. Can they pinpoint the parcel/letter to a certain post box?

Thanks

1st Question : Yes Australia Post would have a record of which envelope batch (series of numbers)has been sent to which post office.

2nd Question : I thought about this myself recently . When the Postman comes to collect the mail from a postbox it will all be inside a bag already. He simply takes the bag out and replaces it with a new one. He then takes it back to the distribution centre. LE would only be able to track it from there.
