I usually use bitinstant but I kinda hate the $500 dollar limit they have and I would love to use a service that is completely online.
-
You can use Mt. Gox to convert cash into bitcoins. Or you could mine them on a mining pool.
-
intersango is a legit exchange
-
I just buy from vendors. Easy, quick, and I'm lazy.
-
I use bitinstant-> Mt. Gox but I'm not loyal to it. Might have to look into Intersango now.
-
vendors w/ bank deposits
-
CaVirtex, Canadian only though I believe, don't know if you're from here or not.
-
I like mt.gox but I just dont like putting that much info and personal stuff on there
-
I've used bitinstant via Wal-Mart/MoneyGram. It's worked a couple times and I plan to make another deposit later this week. Fake name, fake phone number, fake birthdate. Easy as pie.

This is my go-to method as well. It's worked very well so far.
-
I know its a newbie thread but use the fuckin search engine this question has been gone over so many times lazy fuck >:(
-
I dig through the bit-trash looking for recyclable bitbottles and bitcans.
-
intersango, mt gox, local bitcoins, and also local exchangers
-
MTGox is easy enough to set up.
Also dont need to pay the 10% commission that vendors usually charge.
-
bitcoin-24.com and others...
./pew! pew!

I use to go through bitinstant but now I get my coins through Blue Sky Traders. Their service is great. The coins show up in your account in about an hour. There's no need to fake identities like you do for bitinstant. Its about anonymous as you can get.
-
i am looking for the best way to get bitcoins with a moneypak currently.
doesnt seem like a great method these days here though :(
-
bittiraha, a finnish site
-
try localbitcoins.com if you're in the US. Wells Fargo, if near you, is a cheap, easy, and fast way to get bitcoins, was definitely worth the hassle of opening up an account.
-
Blue Sky Traders or Coinbase are pretty good
-
I can never catch bluesky when they are open and I don't trust other vendors do I just use bitinstant.
-
For my one and only bitcoin purchase so far, I used credit card on btcquick and got private keys which I entered into Mt. Gox. Pretty easy..... if your willing to pay for the small credit card markup
-
I just wish that bitinstant allowed bank deposit again. That was so simple....
-
The only thing about mt.gox is I dont like sending all that personal information in just to verify your account
-
I actually convert SLL from second life to BTC using virwox. Caps you at 10k SLL a week to transfer, but for small time stuff it gets the job done. Also don't buy the SLLs, I make them ingame.
-
Why be worried about the personal info? There is nothing inherently wrong with buying btc. You should be taking the necessary steps regardless to move your btc from wallet to wallet.
-
SO your sayings it not safe If I just get bitcoins sent straight to the SR? Cause thats what ive been doing for a month now
-
i would probably go with coinbase, but i want to wait for things to calm down a bit first.
that being said, blueskytraders seem very intriguing :)
-
I was using Bitinstant before things got a little funky with them. Read around the forum and learned about "Bitfloor.com".
Opened a an acount using only an e-mail address. Deposit money in Bank of America. Money goes into your account1,2,3.
Then you have to trade (purchase) to get BTCs ,either by Market order or limit order. Market order, the transaction is quicker in terms of the actually purchase but the minimum amount is 5BTC at a time. Limit order you can trade for any amount(1,2,3,4etc.),but it takes 24hrs and you get a better rate of exchange. Hope this helps.

dwolla to mtgox is cheap, but the drawback is it takes about 7 days.
-
I´v started using Bitstamp.net after being very badly treated by "customer service" on Intersango.
Have never had any problems with Bitstamp.net and have never taken more than 3 days until the coins been on SR.
-
I have always used money gram to zip zap to bitinstant to mtgox to sr. With all of this the total price cost around 14-15 dollars on 500$ and the longest it has taken was just under two hours, but most of the times it happens in under an hour. I would like to find a vendor that would trade but haven't found one cheaper than the process above..But reading some of the posts that are taking days to get the coin into your wallet blows my mind. When using the CVS money gram they have never verified my ID, because the info I have given does not match I ID and never have they pointed that out. Love the lazy cashiers..
-
If you would like to do it completely online, and have the patience of an adult. Set up a dwolla account and have your account verified (this is why you need the patience it takes 30 days). But then you can send money directly from your bank to dwolla, then directly from dwolla to mtgox, and from mtgox to your SilkROad wallet. I can buy bitcoins with no problem without ever leaving my desk.

Used Blue Sky Traders recently for the 1st time. Was easy... just emailed how many BTC I wanted, they replied right away with exact cost and account #. took my cash to Bank of America and asked to make a business deposit. The teller cheerfully took my cash, looked up the account, filled out the deposit slip, gave me a receipt. No questions, no ID. Less than 1hr later the coins were in my wallet.
Of course if you're not near a BoA then this isn't an option.

Still working off the 2300 i mined in 2011. Tried bitinstant once as i was having some serious issues funding mtgox, and it was terrible. Will never use it again.

What?? How the hell did you manage to do that?
I tried looking into the mining thing and was completely befuzzeled. Is it really just-free bitcoins? Or is there something more to this?
Btw im operating on a shitty laptop if that helps
-
I used bitinstant to a bitcoin address originally because I was impatient, am now having to use MT GOX and bitinstant.
-
blue sky
-
Bitcoin-24, Gox, Bitfloor.. usually to private wallet then to SR
-
Bitinstant sucks I can personally vouch for blue sky traders. whole deal took about an hour and a half and they have a good rate.
-
YOur Bank to dwolla
Dwolla to mtgox
mtgox to Silkraod wallet
its that simple
-
BitInstant is still the best. Ignore all the black-ops/haters
Their cash -> btc shit will be back soon
Update Wens Feb 20th, 8:30 PM EST
Few things:
1 - By now, every order we have processed from the DOS this weekend. There is quite possibly more as well. For this reason, Bitcoin Address is still not enabled.
-
in canada i use ca virtex
-
If in the US, coinbase.com is easy. They verify you via bank info, then do a transfer from your acct, it takes 6 days though. Or Blue Sky Traders, they are very anonymous. You make a cash deposit in their Bank of America acct, (they provide the acct number and the exact amount needed for whatever bitcoin amount you need (has to be at least $100), Anyway, I made a deposit and by the time I got home (45 min), the bitcoins were here in my SR acct. They are super fast and very nice to work with. Hope that helps. Here is their link:

I used Sugar Mama on the SR site. I know there is fees and may take some time but the transaction I had went smooth. I look forward to doing one again but do like all the suggestions above!
-
i use btcXuk and they provide a great service (for us lot in the UK>>>)
-
Bank - Pingit - Blockchain - SR
-
Ive been getting MoneyPak and going through vendors as of late. No problems thus far
-
localbitcoin.com
-
I Have used ZipZap to BitInstant, then to my wallet, then to SR So far so good.
-
Like a lot on SR I set up a Mt. Gox then used Bitinstant to get cash into the account, then had to download my wallet to
pc because Mt. Gox will suspend your account if you try to use TOR...assholes....lol
Peace

Are blue sky legit?
-
I have used Dwolla to Bitinstant to Bitstamp and ZipZap Moneygram to Bitinstant to Bitstamp. But the last two times, Bitinstant seemed to be having network problems and I had to email tech support. Problem was fixed both times within a day but its a hassle when you want to order and don't have coins. I am going to try Moneypack next time.
-
if you have dwolla why not just use MT Gox
-
I've used bitinstant via Wal-Mart/MoneyGram. It's worked a couple times and I plan to make another deposit later this week. Fake name, fake phone number, fake birthdate. Easy as pie.
Can you elaborate on how this is done? ie; step by step
Thanks,
-
I use campbx and coinbase.
-
Are blue sky legit?
I used blue sky today as my first company after setting up accounts with other companies and just seeming like alot more hoops to jump through than necessary.
I sent an email to them last night got a reply this morning with deposit details . Made the deposit and within 15 minutes received an email confirming my coins were on the way.
Less than an hr and a half later they were in my bitcoin wallet.
I couldnt be happier with there service

Yo! I just used bitfloor.. Shit was easy and fast! I am in a major downtown area, and I just walked 1 block over to the bank. 10 minutes later, I check my account and my deposit was there. No IDs, simple, and fast. I hope they stay around for a while. Now it is time to play!
