Title: check.torproject.org Not Connecting?
Post by: The Mustard Walrus on November 09, 2012, 01:37 pm
For the last 12 hours or so, when I start Tor, I can't connect to the normal check.torproject.org site that says "Congratulations, your browser is configured to use Tor" etc. I get a connection timeout. All other sites including the main torproject.org website seem to be working fine. Nobody else seems to be complaining of this problem on the forums here so it makes me think something's up on my end somehow. Anybody know what may be causing this? Is it something I should be concerned about?

I'm in the same boat here and was just about to make a thread to ask the same as you. For now, i'm just going to use the forums and stay clear of the main site, just in case there is a security issue.

Hopefully it will be sorted soon :)

Ah, well if we're both having it then everyone probably is, so that makes me feel a bit better. I've been taking the same precaution to stay off SR just in case.

Don't worry, I can't connect too.
Anyway there isn't a connection with this particular page and how safe you are, if you use the default browser of tor bundle, you can check the onion button on the upper left corner if it says "tor enabled" you are fine.
After all a clearnet site I think is more easily compromised than tor itself, and could even tell you are using tor even if you dont...

Same probs w/Tor-check here. For the last 12 hrs or so have been unable to connect to ANY onion sites. This on the heels of whatever is happening w/bitinstant has my paranoia starting to peek out. Any reasons i should worry or not worry about these issues? Any thoughts welcome....
