Title: Vendors without PGP
Post by: ronnykoo on August 22, 2013, 08:44 am
Would you order from a vendor who does not use PGP or it not bothered to learn how to use PGP?

Also if a vendor randomly changes to a new PGP key, would you order from them?

PGP should be a requirement to becoming a vendor in my opinion.

the only thing pgp is doing is stoping someone spying on your addy in the minutes it is being sent

they might have changed key for any 1 of hundreds of reasons why not ask them

I heard like 70% of buyers dont even use pgp whenordering i have and other times not and im still here

PGP is less about how much you trust the vendor, and more about how much you trust that Silkroad itself is secure.  If you don't encrypt, your plaintext address ends up on Silkroad's servers somewhere.  If a vendor account gets compromised and they haven't deleted your address info yet, or the site itself is compromised, PGP will help protect you.

It's not foolproof but the barrier for usage is so low, there's no legitimate reason not to unless the vendor doesn't accept it.  To me, that's a warning sign for using that vendor in the first place.

i dont use vendors who dont use pgp. no good reason not to use it. if i can figure it out and they cant they must be very stupid. so no only use vendors who care about your secuirty.

PGP is so simple to use it seems strange a vendor wouldn't bother using it.. and if they are not bothering to learn PGP then they are probably not overly worried about security of their customers.

It's frustrating because hardly any domestic vendors use PGP for the product I'm after... they need to step up their game!
