So my first order I placed on SR was with dopeboy and everything went smoothly and I was happy as could be. But he went on vacation and I had to use another buyer and I picked an overseas buyer who if very repituable on the forums, always replies quickly to the few PMs I have sent him, and seems to be an overall good guy. The problem is I put in a $550 order and it never came. I contacted the seller after a month had gone by and again after 39 days had gone by. Both times he responded very quickly and reassured me that it should come any day and that he has had packages take up to a month to arrive. We finally mutually decided that the package must have gotten lost and he offered resolution: that if I placed another order with him of the same size then he would double my order at no cost. Although this sounds very good, I'm hesitant to resend this overseas buyer another large sum of money and take another chance at my package not making it.
Since this is only me second buy, what do you guys think I should do?

I wouldn't be sending another sum of cash like that. Propose a compromise, instead of double how about he post half the order again for free. Both buyer and seller have to take a hit when a package goes missing, just my opinion tho...

Tell the seller that you will buy double the order for half the price but everything
must go through escrow and pray he doesn't send you an empty package.

Thanks for the input. The problem with escrow is that he could just tell me to wait the month and then my funds would have already auto-finalized.

Sorry to hear about your situation, always sucks when you encounter problems for any reason and lose money as well as time.
I too learned that it is important to enter resolution regardless of communication with seller, because once the auto-fin has occurred SR has no power to reverse the transaction. However, after you enter resolution you can agree to wait a period of time before discussing a refund, but at least you now have SR's input and authority involved.
I would not recommend ordering again for double, this actually seems risky to me for some reason. Generally the refund is about 50 percent for each party unless previously stated otherwise as some have suggested. If you do order again, you should use tracking in case the first order was lost or worse not even sent in the first place. I personally would not order again at all likely, just because I would be concerned the package was intercepted (or even if just lost) and seems like the chances are high it could happen again...
If you do want another shipment from that same vendor, I would ask for half the quantity to be sent with tracking to a new address.
I have had a domestic re-shipment to a new address (without tracking or delivery confirmation) not arrive as well which was very frustrating since I never did get the intended Christmas gifts for my friends, lost my money and ruined my perfect buyer stats with an auto-finalization.
I suggest you ask for him to send you 50 percent of your money back and take your business somewhere else if you are wanting to protect your monetary interests. If he agrees then I may consider ordering from him again for the half quantity in escrow, if he protests it seems really kinda sketch... but do you really want to wait another 40 days wondering if your package or the cops will arrive?
