Title: Need help, No idea how to accept my delivery! :(
Post by: Glayce on May 05, 2012, 01:11 pm
I have made 2 orders now, I live in a part of canada that everyone is served through PO Boxes. I Opened my PO Box yesterday to see a piece of paper indicating I had a delivery to the alias I used when ordering on silk road. How do get my package?

I have no id for this alias (fake name). I think im fucked... any ideas? I have another delivery coming under the same name

If you're required to show id in order to pick up the package which I'm assuming is the case then yes you're completely screwed unless you order a fake id for that alias asap. This is why people shouldn't receive packages under a fake name unless they have proper id associated with that alias.

+1, people please plan. If ordering something not in your name, you definitely need a fake with that alias. Some PO boxes from what i've heard, will leave a note & a key to a larger box, where usually your package is & you just go in late at night & get your package from the larger box. This is what i've heard for USPS in USA, may be different for Canada.

Call them from a phone not related to you & ask them. Just be general. Say you have a PO box with them, & got a letter about a package & just wanted to know if you had to bring anything to obtain it. Ask them if it can be picked up after hours. Tell them you work 12 hour shifts right now & are doing 9-9 (or whereabouts the time they're open to close) & state you can't make it during those hours, is after hours pickup allowed. If so that's a good sign, as noone will be there to check id. Again in USA po boxes are 24/7, not sure if it's the same up there.

Also I have a really puzzling question for you. How in the hell did you register a PO box under a fake name, w/o an ID. AFAIK, again in the US, PO box registration requires like 2 forms of ID & a bill in your name with address matching ID. Is this different in Canada? They let Joe Blow walk in with no info & register boxes?

I'm assuming that you rented the box with your own ID?

I have been able to pick up mail with fake names by saying the mail was for a friend and didn't even have to show ID of any kind but the people in the post office know me pretty well so I don't think they really cared too much.

If they ask you to bring in your friend with you to pick up the letter tell them you are letting him use your PO Box so his mail doesn't pile up in his letterbox while he is backpacking around Nepal or something. It may work, it may not.

But depending on the contents of the letter just be a little careful that it's not a trap of some sort. If things get dodgy you may have to say you have no idea who the person is and get them to bin it or return it to the sender.
