Title: fringerprints when mailing from a Post Office
Post by: panama_red on June 11, 2013, 05:18 pm
I you have to mail from a PO, I think you have to for express but not sure. Or if it's a package to large for the blue boxes, what about your fingerprints on it? I was thinking maybe some super glue on my finger tips. Let it harden first of course. Is there any way to mail express from a blue box if it's small enough?

You can mail express flat rate envelopes from a blue box, yes.

Interesting.  I never thought about that but I think they could do it.  I think one of the most common ways they can pull fingerprints is if you use tape and your finger gets pressed against the tape when you rip it.  I know that leaves an almost perfect impression of your finger print.  I don't think they can pull prints off of cardboard boxes though.

I wonder if the PO purposely uses slick cardboard on their express for that reason.  Just a thought.

for your information, they can pull fingerprints even more paper, ie letters, money...etc you get the idea. one of the few things they cant pull fingerprints is cling film,

Um...don't do the glue thing. That's crazy drastic and paranoid.

No.

No it is not but vendors use liquid bandaid or newskin for these types of situations.

Rubber gloves, tyvek suit and a respirator.  They'll never get anything off of your package that way.

For all of the newbs that are unaware and the trolls making sarcastic comments about being paranoid and liquid bandaids.  Here

A stamp can be wiped of a print like anything else, as long as the sender is wearing 2 pairs of latex gloves when it is actually peeled and stuck.

What about when vendors are putting packages in a blue box?  Are they wearing gloves in July?

Liquid band-aids.
That's what we use too :)

Liquid bandages on your fingertips.

Good idea. That's actually the best one in this thread thus far.

it's really not too complicated. this is what pockets are for. like on a hoodie or light jacket. to put ur hands in. while you walk down the street with a backpack on. really not too suspicious. oversized hoodies with longer than normal sleeves can cover ur hands very easily too. i know people who swear by "liquid bandaids", but of course if ur prints are on file these days, you'd need to cover your palm, side of hands, ect since it seems more commonplace these days for those parts to also get printed during booking/arrest, in the US at least. and that stuff ain't cheap. i find it a kinda messy method personally.

Pick up your postage from various post offices, pay with cash. Never pick up ridiculous amounts at one time. Liquid bandaid will keep your fingerprints off of priority packaging and DCN stickers when you grab them while also not attracting attention like gloves.

Stay safe,
-M

That is actually my favorite part about winter.  Being able to wear gloves when dropping packages in blue boxes and at the post office without looking suspicious.

I wear rubber gloves. Once they're packed, the courier (wearing gloves) puts them in their bag, and off they go. Blue box. But, in instances where one ABSOLUTELY has to go into a post office... we use fast-dry glue. Essentially the same thing as liquid bandaid. just keep some plate glass near by to get a nice smooth edge(rolling tips). Viola.

Thanks for reiterating this. I wasn't laughing you.

I don't think they will get you by you're prints lol. One, the feds are not going to throw that much resources at catching you. Essentially their is no case even if they do get you're prints. Those packages go through many hands before arriving at its destination, so you are fine.

LOL...leather gloves...that will work in Chicago, but might look weird in Los Angeles. Perhaps consider some scotch tape around the tips of your fingers....a little less obvious than leather gloves.

I use my motorcycle gloves but  it was pouring the one day and I HAD to go into the post office so I put a bit of super glue on my tips. The liquid band aid is a great idea though, thanks guys. Super glue is harder to get off but it worked. You don't need to cover your whole finger in the shit, just enough to obscure a print. Also, I don't think worrying about prints is paranoid, especially when you know your prints are on file, i.e. military or criminal record.

With the news about the NSA recently, I don't think you can be too paranoid. I always knew they were doing this shit to us but maybe now not so many people will think you're crazy for telling them that. Some people only believe shit when they see it on the news, which is a shame because most of "news" is bullshit.

Just be safe guys and remember, they'rrrrrre watching you. ;)
