Liberte sounds pretty cool from what I've read. Does "Linux distribution" mean a Linux based operating system?
So, are there apps that can handle word documents? What about GPG, Truecrypt, Pidgin (or some SILC-compatible chat client) and a random password generator?
Between a VM and Liberte, does one hold an advantage over the other in security terms?
Thanks in advance.

"Linux Distribution" is the term that they use for a Linux Based Operating System. Liberte comes with necessary TOR, Browser, email, GPG, Truecrypt, Pidgin all set to run in "Stealth Mode." Also comes with basic office apps and other maintenance programs.

It also offers an encrypted home directory, which is where almost all user files, documents, etc are stored. You are required to enter your encryption password before Liberte will even boot up, I think its a good solution considering that you can also hide the USB key virtually anywhere!
