Title: Cannabis Questions? Come ask me ;)
Post by: Delta11 on June 06, 2012, 10:53 am
I'm constantly helping patients with cannabis questions and I might as well help any SR user as well. I have been in the cannabis scene for over 10 years and I am very knowledgeable with several different topics. I have worked at smoke shops, with growers, MMJ clinics, converting THC, and just ingesting THC in general (smoking, vaping, eating, etc). I obviously will not reveal my secret formulas for my edibles but I will help out in general so go ahead and ask me a question that is cannabis related.

*Note* I am very limited on the subject of growing, I have never needed to grow and have only worked for growers so please keep this in mind!

Haha yeah I haven't really tried growing, I know a good amount of growers so I could ask them questions for you guys but as far as PlutoPete (honestly don't know who that is) it wouldn't hurt to ask.

What are your thoughts and opinions on the isomerization of natural cannibinoids?

I have experimented with isomerization but in my line of work (edibles) it's not worth it because most users will get headaches . While it does make your THC more potent you really need to have the chemistry down to do it right, if you have the skills and lab equipment than by all means go for it. I personally do not go for it because of the simple fact that it gives the THC a more psychedelic feel and most customers would rather have the good ol' mellow high of THC rather than a potent psychedelic high, but maybe in the future I will offer a more potent product that has gone through isomerization  :)

It's awesome to find someone who knows something about the subject. I have experimented my self but never under ideal conditions, which led to unsure results. Did you have any luck using weaker/safer acids like citric and acetic. Because all the literature I read mentioned obscure acids that were difficult to source.

I haven't tried citric but I have used acetic but customers were complaining of headaches so I tend to avoid it. In the end ISO oil will only be useful if you have weak cannabis (shake/trim/lows), I have access to cheap mids so there is no need to use Isomerization but I would suggest it to anyone that only has access to low quality cannabis.

Seems this thread got buried due to questions via PM. Noobies you can send me questions via PM but let's try to get this thread going with some useful information  ;)

Which of your edibles in your opinion would you recommend for specific ailments? Specifically ones such as pain, nausea, and stress? Like brownies for nausea, etc.

I already kind of know about this, but could you explain the purpose of "bridling" the stem before you harvest the plant.

And, what is the best method of making a female plant a hermaphrodite  for the purposes of producing feminized seeds.

Yep just did the exact same thing, I've asked PlutoPete a few questions on this thread and he was a great help, didn't even buy his seeds but was more than happy to help. After looking through some of his grow photos though I definitely wouldn't mind trying my luck with his auto's.

Wish I knew more about growing but I never had to learn because I'm good friends with several growers, I'm sort of just the business man compared to them.

Good question, I would break it down like this:

Brownies/Cookies = Pain/Anxiety/Insomnia/Stress *I'm not entirely sure about nausea because it's up to the individual I've had mixed reviews about people getting nauseous and others not.

Energy Shots = Great for any type of activity, most successful cases I've heard from customers were working out or going to the gym. Compared to my other edibles the energy shots seem to have more of a sativa based high rather than a couchlock indica high.

Sodas = Great for pain/anxiety/insomnia, these are potent so I would start with half, I had a customer tell me that he was high for 12 hours straight. You might get a headache once you come down so I suggest taking some type of aspirin (excedrin migraine works great)

Awesome! I have a few medical buddies that aren't very big on smoking and we're pretty limited in decent edibles locally, so this will be rad to tell them I have an anonymous sort for these things. I'd love to make them some myself but that was only possible when I was growing. Speaking of which, do you have any decent recipes that you are willing to share? ;)

This might have been answered elsewhere too, but how did the huge gummy bears turn out? Were they effective, because that would be the sickest thing to have for my shroom pow-wows?! ;D

The recipes all come from the baker (co-worker) I'm just the guy that handles all of the cannabis haha but I'm sure you can find some good ones online. The giant gummy bears were a success! The guy that won it in the raffle said his friend ate the ears and got floored with a huge smile so I'll be making a lot more and they'll be back up next week.

I Have hear that you can use CO2 and even unscented propane in place of butane when making hash oil via the supercritical fluid extraction technique.

Do you have any knowledge about this and any noticeable differences in the procedure or end-product when using these alternative solvents?

A hermaphrodite female wont produce exclusivly female seeds, you would need to use a colloidal silver spray to force the female to produce male flowers, then take the pollen produced and apply it to a separate female, this will produce 99% feminised seeds

Thanks alot dude. The literature I have read on the subject was always outdated and kind of unspecific (stressing the plant physically or chemically but not a lot of hard science on the subject) .
Glad you cleared this up for me    +1

no probs,  Ive done this before and the results were great after a bit of a learning curve, you can even make the CS pretty easily yourself

heres a pretty good link ( clearnet ) to a diary from start to finish

thanks man. That has GOT to be the most definitive write-ups I have seen on this topic (and in a forum no less).

You can but in the end it won't really matter if you're curing the wax. I have made BHO several times and I only use vector because it's filtered five times so it's very pure. In the end you cure the wax with a vacuum pump and the end result is very beautiful, I might actually start selling grams of BHO.

Awesome info thanks! I love how people are jumping in to help because unfortunately I really don't know about growing.
