I'm considering meeting a guy off Grasscity that lives in my area. Now, the big question obviously is if he's a LEO or not. He "seems" legit as he's been posting a while there and posts like weekly pictures of his pickups, but I'm a little leery. More leery that actually buying off here from the first time, lol!
He said he might be able to help me out, but wanted to "meet and match" first though. I think I've got the meet and match part down. I'll show you mine, you show me yours sort of thing... but are there certain screeners I should throw at him that could tell me if I'm about to walk into an undercover setup?

guns. lots of guns.

I'd be way more afraid of being kidnapped and raped than arrested by LE, but that's just me... :-[

yeah as bones says - you're more likely to get beaten up and robbed than get pinched.
how much are you buying? if it's a paltry amount why would LE want to set up a sting for like $50 worth of gear?
anyways, what i'd do if i was going to meet a total stranger to buy drugs:
1. turn up at least 20 minutes early and case the area looking for anything out of place. this includes keeping an eye on people looking out of windows - are the just having a look or looking for someone? is there anything shiny next to them that may look like a camera lens? and of course the totally obvious old guy with a mustache reading a newspaper on a park bench. generally people loitering without a purpose.
2. keep an eye out for CCTV and cars/SUV's/vans with blacked out windows, particularly if they have a good view of the meet spot.
3. keep out of site until you can see them turn up so you can see whether they're turning up heavy handed or not.

I'd probably watch the entire "Jason Bourne" series first too. You know... for science. Then watch Taken. Hell, any movie where the unknown protagonist turns out to be a badass hand-to-hand combat motherfucker. Then you should be all set. Good luck!

step 1. don't do it
step 2. if you really feel you have to, refer to step 1

Bones really mate, I thought you liked to be raped ;) that's the rumor going around anyway. Each to his own I don't judge ;D

You watched Barry Cooper's 'Never Get Busted'? look for it on the pirate bay. Fun stuff to watch.

theblackstallion86, I have done this before and here is what I did. Remember, this is VERY dangerous!
#1) I gave him a fake name. No need to give out your real info.
#2) I chose the location, a restaurant at lunchtime. Lots of people around and a generally safe environment. One without any cameras in the parking lot.
#3) Take only a little. A small joint in a pack of smokes. If you are going to do a deal it is best to get to know him/her first and do the deal a little later.
#4) Get there 45min early. It was in a shopping center so I went around and checked out a couple of stores and wandered for about 15min casing the place.
#5) Go into the restaurant 30min early and choose a seat near a window so you can watch the parking lot and see people coming in and out.
#6) Order a drink and tell them you are waiting on some one.
Watch how s/he arrives, what they are wearing, do they have anyone with them, are they the kind of person you expected, etc. If anything looks even the slightest bit out of place, simply pay for the drink and leave. If they walk up and ask if you are XXX you can simply smile and say no.
The best advice is dont do it! It is a major risk.

It's not rape if they yell surprise first...

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. I'll be carefully weighing my options and doing my due diligence first. Appreciate the replies, both helpful and not so serious :p

probably no more than 1-2 grams.
maybe walking into a sting was the wrong way to put it, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion and what to watch for at any rate.

Well, it sounds like he would be doing the selling so wouldn't that make him the dealer rather than you? Most police I've come into contact with aren't really to concerned with the end user rather than the supplier. This would have to be a pretty shitty sting op to bust someone who might smoke weed on occasion. :/
-Cheers

I'd have to agree with ppass on this one.

sure, I'm not saying I'd be the dealer all the sudden ;). just a little paranoid I guess. wanted to avoid a line like "surprise, you're busted!" type of deal.

Keep an eye out for Chris Hansen.
