Quick query before I add any BTC to my account: is it possible to link my personal wallet to SR via transaction history in the block chain? Should I delete a wallet after I use it to send funds to SR? I'm not 100% sure how it works. . . .

*bump*
I just want to know how to get funds from my public BTC wallet to my SR account without it being traceable.

there a service that for a small fee will mix your coins with other peoples and then split them all up again making them pretty much untraceable. Its called bitfog and you can access it through tor on the link below:
http://fogcore5n3ov3tui.onion

Whenever i have asked this question the reply's have all been use Bitfog or pay in cash to obtain the coin initially. Where i live we cannot pay in cash, the exchanges available all have high fee's and then to top it off once you finally have your coin you must wash it through Bitfog for a further fee.I think it would be great if someone with a bit more knowledge on this subject could explain how Bitcoin payments can be tracked i think the more we learn about this subject the more we can protect ourselves from this happening and at the same time hopefully find a way to pay less fees.

I've also heard of bitlaundry, anybody use both and have a reason they prefer one over the other?
If you want to see how easy it is to track bitcoins, copy one of your used wallet addresses and search on blockexplorer. If you sent it directly to an address somehow known to be associated with illicit activity, your address would be tainted. The problem is whether or not there's anything linking that wallet address to you.
Turns out that's the same address you used to withdraw BTC from Mt Gox? And you gave them your personal info? Nuh-uh, not good. Hence the transaction mixers. I would use a mixer for incoming and outgoing transactions for anything questionable and anything linked to my personal info.

I have heard of Bitlaundry also never used it though Bitfog is all i have ever used.
Blockchain.info can also be used to track payments via a certain address but i don't get how they can follow it. I think this would be a good time for an example:
I buy off a large reputable exchange.
I wire therm the money so they have my details, and the coin gets transferred from them to address 'a'.
Now if i am in my Bitcoin wallet, i setup a new address to receive Bitcoin 'b'.
I transfer the coin in my wallet to address b.
Surely at this point it becomes anonymous because the exchange has my details and can follow the money to the original address provided 'a', but then i will have transferred to address 'b' which could be anyone.
From there i could transfer to SR and buy.
Can someone please confirm if this would be safe and if not why not.

I don't user either of these services anymore! I just create loads of wallets and pass the coins between them until i eventually pass them to SR

Well thinking about it the flaw in my method would be the ip address would stay the same, so can you suggest a couple of wallet sites that are accessible through TOR.

I don't use bitcoin wallets that are available on TOR because i don't trust them. You can use public wifi's tho to get different IP's that are not related to you

I'd like to know this too. There should be official instructions about how to make anonymous BTC transfers.

That does nothing. Look at the taint analysis. You can see exactly where the coins came from. It would actually look suspicious if someone was analyzing the the originating or ending address in the blockchain. You need a real tumbling service to make it so you cannot see where everything has came and went from.
Look at the taint analysis ::)

but once sent between a thew wallets how could they prove those wallets where owned by me and that i hadn't passed the coins to somebody else?

You can't if you used TOR but you can sure follow it very very very easily.

I know its not the greatest technique but i got sick of using the bitcoin tumblers and because my transactions have only ever been for small amounts of BTC i just don't feel the need to go overboard on being anon. Plus the coins go through SR's bitcoin tumbler before ending up in you account! I have also just changed the way i purchase bitcoins and now use a method that involves making a deposit into a bank account in which i don't have to give any of my details so it would be hard to link them back to me even if followed!

Unless you're a seller, and moving lots of product at that, I wouldn't see too much reason for the paranoia.
I fund Mt. Gox through wire transfer then send that to a wallet on a work computer then send it to SR wallet from there. I only make small purchases, use real name and address and I've never had a problem...at least not yet.
