Title: Bitfloor to SR account Directly
Post by: ananamas on March 30, 2013, 04:53 am
Can I transfer USD from my bitflloor account to Silk Road address directly? If I can is it safe?

I could have scrolled the forums for an hour for an answer like usual, since I'm so anti-social even online  8) but I thought I'd make my first actual post.  :D

So thankful for this technology/community   ;D

Yes, you can. That's what I always do and it's worked perfectly fine 20+ times. Some people like to transfer to an intermediary wallet for added anonymity but it's not really necessary.

One more thing I may not have to look up. How many posts must I make until I can "+1"  "-1"

B/c I could really use a +1 to give right now  ;)

You mean not going through bitcoin at all?...

If that's what you meant, I don't think so.  I never saw any option for bank account routing & account numbers... that wouldn't be too anonymous I imagine.

If you meant "Can I buy bitcoin on bitfoor then transfer them directly to my SR acct"... then imo, yes.   Some others would rather wash them more (BTC fog et al.) jic their pic was taken in the depositing bank etc., but others like me feel safe enough doing that.

Yeah, I didn't notice it said USD. Obviously you can't transfer USD to SR. I'm assuming you meant transfer BTC from Bitfloor directly to SR, which you can do.

Send it through blockchain.info mixer if you don't want Bitfloor to know you're sending the coins to SR. There's a 0.5% fee. Whether it's necessary is of course up to you to decide.

It works, but so does buying drugs from your street corner dealer with a cc if he has one of those cool PayPal swipe thingies on his iPhone.

Okay, maybe it's not *that* bad, but it's damn near close.  We have no idea how much the DEA knows about SR-connected BTC addresses.  And, when they finally make their move, it's going to happen all at once.  Fifty arrests, a hundred.  So, you do what you want to do, but I'm using a laundry service, or routing through multiple instawallets.  Safer than sorry, my friend.

Thanks for the responses. instawallet.com I think I'll go with. Any input on "cleaning bitcoins" to you mass contributors would be read and appreciated  :P

instawallet.com is down because of a security breach. You should never use an online wallet that has access to your private keys anyway. Use blockchain.info/wallet through tor or Bitcoin-qt client through tor.

Thanks Shadrock, you rock!

You're absolutely right I better think safer!

So thankful for the security advice I'm gonna use blockchain.info/wallet
