Title: WU & ID
Post by: miker914 on December 20, 2012, 11:28 am
Does anyone know what information Western Union uses/records/verifies when they require your ID to make a transaction (both sending and receiving)
How safe is it to use a novelty ID with a bogus license #?
If there isn't any actual verification at all then I guess it doesn't matter

I have only ever sent money and never been asked for an ID. One time I used the name Joe Schmoe.

Picking up might be a different story tho, im sure a high quality fake will do the trick.

Yeah for sending <$1000 you don't need anything but I'm planning on doing a $5000~ xfer soon and don't want to do 6 transfers.
For receiving without a test question you need ID (<$1000) or for anything over $1000 you need it regardless.

I've done it once before where they (I think) put my real DL# into the system but I don't know (couldn't actually see) and don't know what verification is done on it.
Was funny actually...name on license didn't even match the name on the WU form now that I think about it..
