Title: Bitinstant down bitstamp-bitfloor won't TOR...
Post by: Bill Paxton on March 02, 2013, 06:55 am
I've only used Bitinstant and its down right now.  I'd like to get my $$ onto my SR asap but bitstamp & bitfloor (or whatever) aren't letting me proceed with my tor browser; in the bottom right corner its asking me if I want to allow google analytics which obviously I don't want to do.  I like bitinstant because I can TOR browser the whole way through it, and I can walk into local chain stores and use the red phone + fake info + NO ID with only a hour or two turn around to my btc on my account.  Any suggestions for other website's to use or am I waiting for bitinstant to get back online? :(

I'm in the SE part of the country.

Because it is an extremely uncommon question, it will take some time for people to form their answers. But in the middle of the night on a Friday I can understand why you're surprised no one has responded in under 90 minutes.

Real advice: do a search and you will find approximately 490283094 threads about this. BitInstant has been useless for weeks now. The alternatives are discussed in many threads. If you're in SE USA, you probably are near a BoA, which is the choice of many other exchanges. You will have plenty of options. If there isn't a BoA near you, then like me, your options are unfortunately very limited until BitInstant decides to get it together (although at this point I don't think I will ever use them again).

Bitfloor , but beware of the exchange rate I lost 30$ because of market fluctuation. No names, no worries.

I'd recommend Bitcopia, I used it on Friday, it was honestly much easier than using bitinstant, and I feel like it was more anonymous, (everything pretty much done through email never had to give my name or fake name).

I saw that today... anyone comment on dwolla > mtgox > sr, or coinbase > mtgox > sr?

Binstant now records every transaction,  including Ip and name.
Read their user agreement.  You agree to having your transactions analyzed, and having all your info sent/sold to anybody.

I will never use them again and recommend everyone who likes freedom avoid them.

I also recommend Bitcopia.  Stop dickin around with 900 steps to get BTC

1)  Create burner tormail email account
2)  Click BUY on Bitcopia during normal business hours
3)  Enter in amount of $ you want to deposit <= $1000 USD
4)  Use burner email (not even necessary but they'll send you confirmation info if you want) address from step 1 when completing the Buy form
5)  Use a BTC address you've never used before (not required, but for extra caution).  Triple check it's correct.  Use a non-SR account first and then transfer here (or to 25 other fee-driven tumbler sites first for the ultra-noid).
6)  Write down the transaction# just to be safe
7)  Go to WF bank within the hour from when you submitted Buy order
8 )  Fill out deposit form, include the Bitcopia act# and below that just write Bitcopia for the name

Don't freak out when they call the manager over for an override or something - they have their account set up to only accept cash, so it flags the account to require a manager override (again, or something)... every time I've had this happen, and the first time its was kind of strange and made me nervous but then you know its coming.  The one time they asked me "is this set up to not accept checks"?  And I was like "I'm not sure"... then they realized it was for "business" and not me depositing cash into my own account.  Then they have their supervisor come over, tell them to push a button or something (since youre payin with cash anyway)....then they print out your receipt and say thank you have a nice day!!

There is no true connection to you IMO (anyone and everyone, please feel free to tell me how this is wrong!), as you're depositing cash, don't have to ever ID yourself or use a fake name anywhere even.  I've used several times and all very painless.

Is it the "best" way?  No idea.  Depends on what youre looking for, but it has been the best I can find in terms of convenience and reliability.  The fee is comparable to everything else I could find and as it stands now it's my go-to method.

MtGox error: couldn't connect to host - I can not use TOR?

Thanks for the info. You can never be too safe, it is best to cover all trails as I am terrified of spending even one day in prison. I was going to originally use bitcopia but the site was down yesterday so I went with bitfloor. Just like OP I am a little concerned about bitfloor not working through tor. Had to allow quite a few things with noscript. How good does bitcopia work with tor?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your responses.

I've been using bitfloor and they're solid as fuck.  Cash shows up in my account before I make it back to my computer from BOA and then I quickly convert/trade to BTC and upload to my SR account.  I'm using ALL fake names and they havent asked for ID at all.  I'm comfortable sending straight to SR from BitFloor since every name I use is false.

Any comments/suggestions on this? Am planning on using a different email/user name for every other transaction or so just to be safe.

Bitinstant still has over 400.00 of mine that I transfered to them AFTER the hack... they've responded to my emails and also answered the phone once when I called, telling me everytime my money is safe and they're processing everything by hand... I'm nervous I'll never see that money again but would feel much worse if they hadn't been responding at all to me.

I've changed my BTC address a few times now since doing this bitinstant order that STILL hasn't come through (They are still in contact with me and keep assuring me they're going to give me my BTC). If I place an order using a BTC address and change that address before the funds come in, they will still get to my account correct? I saw this question posted in a FAQ somewhere but didn't read the response and I can't seem to find it. I assumed with the well thought out very detailed order to everything BTC it wouldn't be a problem at all but wanted to post/ask just to make sure as I can't find an answer to my question on the internet thingy.
