Hi, I was hoping someone might help me with a problem I have installing tails, I have downloaded the .Iso file and burnt it to DVD with Infra recorder , on the slowest speed.
Tails starts to boot then comes up with error
EDD ERROR 3200 READING SECTOR 439560
INVALID OR CORRUPT KERNAL IMAGE
Please help me sort this its driving me crazy, ive burnt four discs now and all the same thing
Many thanks

You shouldn't use the lowest speed, the maximum speed setting is always the most reliable when burning DVDs. Low speed is more prone to errors.
-
Imay be a complete dumb cunt as I think I might not have completed the download?? Could that be the problem?
-
Hi i originally did highest speed then dropped it after reding the troubleshooting thing, same result both ways

To be sure your ISO is not corrupted (or worse, you were victim of a MITM attack), you should verify the signature of the image you downloaded.
-
I am going to delete it and start the whole process again and verify it , thanks heaps for the replies
-
Well you could also just verify the image you've already downloaded, maybe it's valid. Obviously if you haven't completed the download it won't work though! :P

You can try making a LiveUSB instead of a DVD, how I prefer to use Tails.
For me it was quite easy and went pretty smoothly.
-
^^you need the burnt dvd to create the live USB

I didn't, just the iso and empty usb.
-
how did you boot the iso? in a VM?
-
No, I found what I used.
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
Supports Tails and finished pretty quickly.

good find my man, i was running out of dvds . have a + :-*
-
No problem. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, considering I found it on the Tails own site :P.
-
i just always download the upgraded iso. should spend more time reading i suppose
-

-

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

When you burn Tails into a CD, make sure that you're burning the content of the Tails folder, not the .iso file.
-
When you say burn the contents of the Tails folder do you mean after clicking on the iso and burning the 'Tails 0.18 - 201' or do you mean going once more and just burning the folders of 'isolinux' and 'live'?
