Title: Press to Aus
Post by: linemup on July 13, 2012, 01:50 pm
Is it possible to get a press into aus?

Serious and honest answers please. Any input from people with knowledge or experience in the matter would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

linemup

you can get small ones from china in 3 parts to 3 different addresses, the vender says they have got them through but believing them is another thing...

Hi,

we can try from India, maybe break it up a little.
The TPD -5 is over 100kg in weight.
We can put any type of invoice saying its a machine of your choice.
I think your best bet is to get it delivered to a business address and have it marked as some type of machine that the business is involved with.

Fred

What if it was broken up into 3 pieces and labelled as something else?

Yeah the price tag on a local one is fairly high. Looked into that.

That is how they were getting guns into the country (until they got caught about 4 months ago) split it into parts, different adresses, maybe throw them in with some car parts etc.

They will be flagged by the Australian customs.

So even pulling it all apart and sending it in heaps of small packages will still get flagged? The parts could be used for anything though when there not attached to something else.

Pretty much mate, especially big ones. First it will be x-rayed like all the packages that come in. (They have a big x-ray machine for shipments), then they`ll investigate each individual package, and realize. You can try pulling apart the thing to its bare parts, but I doubt the vendor will do that efficiently. Putting it back together is a hassle too. Also Australian customs drill holes in objects they find suspicious to take drug samples, so there are high chances your parts will be drilled (especially hollow ones) rendering them perhaps useless. This happens often with car parts.

Interesting. Thank you.

We were actually going to go overseas and dismantle it ourselves and send it. I'll have to have a chat with some people maybe we'll have to invest in a press already here.

Edit: The press itself isn't big. it's around 100kg in weight.

No problem, its best that you find a way to purchase one domestically. It doesn`t matter how much it weighs, its just the parts and so. I`ve gotta say Australian customs are the most hard working people in their line of work. They`re really good, you`ve gotta see the process for yourself sometime if you can.

What kind of price does a press go for domestically?
