Title: *SCAM* johnnycash, the man in black(mail)
Post by: donaldbrashear on October 24, 2011, 12:54 am
Just a heads up, although it looks like his only transactions were fake and he's not going to list under this username anymore, johnnycash is a scam. He threatened to report me to police if I didn't release the funds. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the same asshat behind the username smilebit. Anyone care to reassure me that, if he even goes through with his supposed anonymous police tip, that nothing will happen? I'm mostly posting this last question just to see if he tries to come on here and scare me into finalizing under the guise of another identity, because that would be funny as shit.

he made the same threat to me just a little while ago. I told him to Fuck off because my shipping address has zero connection to me, and the cops can investigate until their hearts are content and they will never find me. He hasn't gave me my money back yet though...we'll see

Luckily I was sure to only deal in-escrow after getting ripped by smilebit, that's too bad that he got your coins. Yeah, I safeguarded my address too...not that the authorities give a damn.

somebody please correct me if i am wrong, as i'm no lawyer, but my way of thinking here is that even if you gave him your real name and real home address, and the asshat did report you to the police, even anonymously, theres about zilch the 5-0 could even get a warrant to search your house which you didn't even get any product anyways. nevermind the fact him reporting would go along the lines of "i tried to sell this dude drugs online, and he wouldn't give me my money up front! go arrest him!" i'm sure the police would sure have a good time with that one.

i'm sorry there are more d-bags popping up like this on this fine establishment, and that you've had to encounter a complete dipshit like this guy.

He threatened to report me to police if I didn't release the funds.

I would love to be a fly on the wall during that conversation.

Ring, Ring.

"Metro Police, what is your emergency?"

"Um yes, I'd like to report a crime."

"That's what we're here for son, how can we help?"

"Well I think I've been scammed."

"That's terrible.  Can you describe the situation?"

"Um sure.  It first started when I placed an ad to sell some LSD on the Internet."

"...<coughs>... Yes, go on."

"Well so this guy said he'd buy some, but then didn't give me the money.  He did give me his address though."

"I see, and I can certainly understand why you're upset.  It turns out there are lots of criminals out there that try to run scams like this on good people all the time.  Fortunately though we have many outstanding resources here and with that address I have no doubt we can track him down for you."

"You do?  That's great!"

"Absolutely.  But before we can officially open an investigation for you we're going to need you to help us profile this character.  For that we'll need you to come down to the station and fill out a report.  We call it an 'affidavit', but basically it's just a piece of paper where you write down in detail what happened, starting with your advertisement to sell LSD, and then you give us his address.  Once you've signed off on that we can start the proceedings against this criminal immediately."

"Sweet!  I'll be right down..."

[ed: Something tells me you don't have too much to worry about. ;-]

Do not finalize under this threat, you have nothing to worry about.  Try and get SR to resolve it for you instead.

I think I posted earlier about getting burned in a ring of fire if you tried to buy LSD from Mr. Cash.....good 2 know you can still spot a scammer.

Funny you say that Bob Arctor, that was the exact word I used in the first text I sent a friend about this guy. And a quick update, the SR team responded and was going to cancel it right away (5 days from resolve button being available) upon my confirmation, but then johnny himself cancelled it. Nice seeing my precious coins back in Account section of the header. Too bad I didn't get them back yesterday when the BTC conversion rate was higher, I would have made some capital gains because of this genius.
