Title: Buying BTC from MoneyPaks
Post by: DoktaLockeEyeQue on April 06, 2013, 07:11 pm
Hi,

Obviously Common Sense goes a long way in any situation.  However, in this situation, am I wrong to assume you must have some faith in the vendor as you may become "scammed" at any point?  With all of the increase in sketchiness rampant over classical ways of obtaining BTC (eg BitUnInstant, YouZappedmyZip? ValleyGox) how would each of you personally go about it?

Probably Beating a Dead Horse.  And SugarMama is sweet... but tart as that fee is hefty-ier as you increase your deposit.

Assume all variables: Packed City vs. "WhereAmI" towns; Frequency/Amt of Dep/Cash, Bank, MonopolyMoney, etc.

Thanks!

Buy the moneypak in the amount you want to exchange then list it on SR or other sites that take bitcoin as payment.  Then you save on exchange fees.

Better yet, go to the place you buy the moneypak and look around for other pre-paid cards like Vanilla Visa and list some of those too.  Then you can see what sells best and will get your bitcoins to you the fastest.

Thanks for the advice Nug!  That seem's plausible enough.  Where would one list these on SR, not being a vendor?  The only thing here is you will have to be your own "fee" essentially, correct, as I am sure no one would want to buy $100 USD for the BTC Equivolent amount of "greater than" $100.  Ex:  If I sold a $100 VV Card for $90 USD, that would be a 10% essentially.   :)

You can't on SR without being a vendor.   You could try the forums but it would be out of escrow so risky.  BMR has a vendor fee too so that's out of the question also.  I think Bitmit.net is the largest bitcoin marketplace that doesn't charge a vendor fee.  You could list it there but it might take longer to sell than if you listed it at SR.  The 2% escrow fee is way better than what you are paying the money exchangers!  I though I saw on some thread that SR is going to start doing a currency exchange too but I could be wrong.

That site you mentioned sounds worth looking into! Thanks!  And you are correct, 10-20% off of $500-$1000 bucks... What do you say.... oh.  Fuck!  lol  I appreciate your input :)

Other ideas anyone?
