Hi there,
A few years ago I built a portable RF jammer and had a great time doing it. The device works great, and has a programmable bandwidth that covers CDMA, GSM, GPS, WIFI, and I believe bluetooth although I haven't tested that yet. Building the jammer takes a lot of time and is quite involved, especially for those who have never approached a project of this magnitude. In terms of raw materials.. it costs about ~$200 or so, not including the necessary tools and testing equipment. So my question: if I put some of these on the SR market would anyone be interested? And if so, how much would you be willing to pay for it? It is a hassle to just build only one, since the circuit boards need to be custom made and there is a discount for ordering duplicates.
The plans are available for everyone to see on the interwebs at http://www.ladyada.net/make/wavebubble/. There have been several modifications to the original design, with plenty of walkthroughs and build logs on the forums.
It goes without saying that these devices are not (legally) available; similar cell jammers are sold on the internet but they are not nearly as versatile as this design. The range is limited, and while attaching an amplifier would increase the range, this would be a good way to get caught by the feds.
I'd be happy to answer any questions.
Cheers friends

Yes are intresting, if you producs are better than http://s.dealextreme.com/search/gsm+jammer . There are about $150 usd with all band (us/europe) range jammer with 20-50 meters coverage.
And they don“t have tax/kustom broblem north Europa shipping.

Like I said, the raw materials alone cost around $200 or so. I can't speak for the products on that site though, they look pretty cool. If it's lagit that seems like a good deal.

Have you tested the range of the product as is?

Not much of an electronic configuring man, I just told one of my friends the other week to make the listed model. He's lazy tho.
+1 interest if you manage to get a vendor account going. Maybe you should make more related shit like this too (:

The range varies significantly. Anywhere from 3m to 12m (anything more is pushing it). The device works by trashing a specific bandwidth (range of frequencies) with noise, thus confusing the wireless device. The jamming effectiveness depends largely on the bandwidth range you are using (narrower bandwidth range = longer ramming range), how far you are from a cell tower, what frequency you are jamming, weather conditions and so on.

I am not a computer engineer and am not the designer of this device; my abilities to custom build things is somewhat limited. I am however very good at soldering and tinkering with things until they work. If you find something and want it built, there's a good chance I can build it assuming I have the equipment.
I don't wanna get a sellers account unless I know I can sell these, since it's so damn expensive to get an account! How much would you guys pay for something like this?

I got a couple from China years ago for around $25-30 USD. They work great. I first went the wavebubble way, but fuck all that work when the chinese will do it for you.
They're legal to own, not legal to import into the USA, not legal to sell, and not legal to use. Gotta love the USA!

I'm for sure interested. However I'm more interested in a smaller mass-produced model rather than this sort of hand made individual unit. Mostly because of the price. Can be Chinese and cheap.

I'd definitely be interested in a GPS jammer. Cell Phone ones would be fun too. What did you say you'd be selling them for?

So, here's what I gather from the replies to this thread and the PMs I've received: people want a jammer, but don't seem to be too enthusiastic about paying the amount that this thing costs ($200 in raw materials + ~150 hrs of labor), in which case I suggest that you grab a jammer from one of the Chinese manufacturers. They are not as versatile as the design I'm offering, but from what I gather they work but with very limited range.
I'm mostly hesitant because of the seller fee on SR; I enjoy building electronic toys but I don't want to go in to debt building them. If I offered a demo unit on SR, for the cost of the raw materials and the SR seller fee, would anyone consider buying one? This will run about $400. No cost for labor, and I don't want to ship outside of the US.
To answer other questions: there are many videos on youtube for this design (search: wavebubble), as well as build logs and also forums and even a wiki. It's a well-tested design and I would offer technical support for the unit to some degree, as well as DOA insurance.
