I have mailed items to people and a good way for the recipient to reduce their risk is to use a name other than their own. Now I am not suggesting you make up a name, you should use the name of the previous resident. This works great in student properties or rental properties as they will usually still be reviving some mail for the last tennant. You will know to keep an eye out for a package in that name but if there is anything like a co trolled delivery or love letter from customs/ law enforcement, then it will not be you they are looking for. This will give you plausible deniability at least. It also means you don't have to give the vendor your real name (in the event that he/she is busted).
Hope it helps someone.

Any advice for those who live in a newly built house without prior owners? lol

I don't think that is a good idea. The best way to not stand out, is to blend in. Plus, if LEO wants to bust you for receiving drugs to your house, they are gonna bust you---and they will have enough evidence when they do whether you use your real name or not. Over 95% of criminal court cases at the federal level end up with the defendant guilty...The gov't isn't going to bust someone unless they KNOW they are going to win.

In the US at least, previous residents often have their mail automatically forwarded to their new address, so you could end up sending your shipment to someone else. I think it just depends on what the previous resident set up. In the house I live in now, I get next to no mail that's for previous residents. However, in the last house I lived in, I got more mail for a random assortment of former residents than I did for myself.
