Title: Do you guys writing your version in your public key
Post by: TreadLight on April 16, 2013, 10:42 am
I see when everyone here posts their public key it lists their version in the key, so the first couple lines look like this:

-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
Version: GnuPG v2.0.17 (MingW32)

However, when I use my MacGPG2 software to export my public key to a text document it doesn't insert my version automatically. Are you all writing it in? And if so the software knows not to count it as part of the key? Thanks.

No, nobody is adding the version numbers manually. v2.0.17 is GPA. v1.4.12 is GPG4USB. So those are different programs than what you are using.

I'm pretty sure some of the Mac versions don't list the version number as part of the message/key.
