Thanks for the article. However, let's state the facts before anyone goes too paranoid:
1) In a March 18, 2011 press release regarding the Liberty Dollar case, the FBI admitted to waging a secret war against any private currency system that competes against the US Dollar
.
Although the FBI admits to waging a war against any alternate currency system, it does not mean that the FBI, as of today, wants to dismantle Bitcoins, nor that they are actually thinking about doing something against bitcoins. Chances are that it is the case, but this article and your thread title are misleading.
2)
he was found guilty by a jury in Statesville, North Carolina, of making coins resembling and similar to United States coins; of issuing, passing, selling, and possessing Liberty Dollar coins; of issuing and passing Liberty Dollar coins intended for use as current money; and of conspiracy against the United States
We're talking about real life currency here. Which in FBI's list would be a priority case I guess. Virtual money would come second.
I don't really believe that the Mt.Gox attack was done by the FBI. I'd say they 'd rather officially shut down any website attempting to trade btcs.

+1
probably their way to scare off people from using bitcoins.
-
The government has to accept the fact that peoples faith in the US dollar is to blame and it's they, the government themselves, that caused the issue.
-
merely just scare tactics.
I declare shenanigans on the FBI.
