Title: Thinking about calling it quits
Post by: fable on June 15, 2012, 08:44 pm
We've had a good ride here at Silk Road, and we have been treated very well until recently with sociopath customers bashing out at us for smalls error and blatantly lying in their reviews.  We strive hard to provide the best service we can and do every single action based on what our profile outlines, yet we receive reviews like these:

DONT TRUST! SO NASTY RIPPED ME OFF AND THEN STARTED THREATINING ME, POSTED MY PERSONAL INFO AND COPIES OF SR MESSAGES ON PUBLIC CLEARNET SITES- WAS VERY NASTY RUDE All I DID WAS ASK TO CANCEL ORDER HE STILL HADNT SENT FOR WEEKS- HE WOULDNT REFUND ME UNTIL I DISPUTED AND THEN STILL WOULDNT OFFER A 100% REFUND ON AN ORDER HE DIDNT EVEN SEND! NEVER AFTER SO MANY PURCHASES ON HERE HAVE I DEALT WITH SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL AND NASTY SELLER, EVER! BE CAREFUL DEALING W/ FABLED, YOULL BE IN FOR THE WORST SERVICE YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE!

By buyer account    p285

We are never impolite with our customers unless they attack us first.  We never threaten customers.  We have never fucking posted ANY information to ANY clearnet site.  We took a picture of our SR message log with him, strongly blurred all usernames and any identifying information (that wasn't even identifying.)  Of course, we wanted to him to dispute the charge so that a moderator could fairly judge and he refused.  I don't understand why, it's the whole point of an escrow system.

Another guy left an accurate review that was justified, other than calling us low-life scumbags.   His username is cheekymonkey39.
We were low on stock and messaged him ASKING him if the shake and leftovers were ok, and HE SAID THAT'S FINE.  Apparently it wasn't, he took it to SR resolution and blatantly lied saying that he hadn't received the package.  We had our DCN verifying the devilivery and good thing we did because this is the review he left:
"   Terrible experience. Fabled is a true lowlife seller. I have bought from him in the past and been very satisfied. placed this order and it started badly took 3 days before it was even marked as sent, got concerned and sent PM and received response that they were low on stock and were trying to see how much they could send. When order was received to my shock there was hardly any intact buds of any kind to be found only a bag of seeds, sticks, and the rest was 90% loose shake and completely dried out. I understand 100% that what I ordered was brick however this junk was beyond bad and shouldn't even be called swag.I would have preferred the order have been cancelled rather than someone just cram trash in a bag to make weight. response from fable was a short and sweet it's super cheap what do you expect with no apology at all. removing from my short list of trusted sellers unfortunately .He seemed like a good guy at first don't know what happened but his stuff has really gone done hill as well as any kind of service."

Had he sent us that, we would have helped him out and get him SOMETHING of a refund.  I guess anonymity brings out the worse in people.

Lately we've just been getting slammed with scam artists and people with anger issues that don't understand  that problems happen.

Every fucking day our team risks the rest of our life in prison selling on the Silk Road and it feels like all we ever do is get bashed.  We strived to get our seller rating above 99% and now it's all ruined by a few select assholes who do not respect the services we provide for them.

This isn't our 'job,' all of us have real jobs to make a living.  This is something we do because we're in college and we thought anonymous markets were a cool new idea that we wanted to support and nurture.   But this shit is stressful.  Along with answering 20+ SR messages everyday and packing 3-5 orders, we have to deal with getting our product in the ghetto in a dangerous city.  We were once fucking robbed at gunpoint and my buddy got a black eye trying to get the bud to sell on here for Christ sakes .

It's just not worth it when your customers don't even give a shit.  We always try to do our best to get everything out quickly and safely.  Of course we make mistakes, but we understand that sucks getting ripped off on Silk Road.  I personally have been scammed for over $1000, not including the night my buddy and I got robbed and collectively lost over $1200.

I cannot speak for the rest of the fable(d) team, but I'm about tired of having to deal with all this shit.

Sorry for the rant, but reading these nasty reviews and seeing our seller rating drop just makes me hate everything about being a seller on SR.

Even if fable(d) stays around, I am most likely not going to be on the team.

peace

p.s.  didn't reread, check or grammar, or spelling.  just don't care anymore.

To quote your signature:

Stay cool fable  8)

Don't let a few bad buyers ruin your business here. Yet, if you feel that you don't need or want to do business here, that is entirely up to you.

Life is not that bad! Come on, sit down, take a deep breath and devise a plan that will get your business thriving again. You need to remember though, that without customers you don't have a business. There will always be people who complain and "can't be satisfied", that happens across all facets of life, however, if you are true to yourself and really want to please your customers, than you will go that little further to keep them happy and ensure they return time after time. That's what business is all about. If you keep your customers happy, your rating will take care of itself. Just cause a buyer or two left you some bad feedback doesn't mean everything is falling apart. It's how you overcome these hurdles and resolve any issues that people will judge you by. :)

I just wish people would realize that it is difficult being a vendor on Silk Road.  Gawker described it as the Amazon of illegal drugs, well that's bull shit.  The security precautions we take to insure this service is safe and secure for us and our customers takes more than 5 times as long than just sending out a box of chocolates to your girl.  It's extremely time consuming, stressful, and physically taxing juggling this and real life.

It takes over a month of 5/5 reviews to get back to >98 seller rating but only 2 unjustified 1/5s to drop us to a 95%.   We respect honest reviews and called-for complaints, but I feel like a mother being put into a retirement home when I see hateful and/or dishonest reviews.  We have only deserved a 1/5 maybe two times and that is when we first started selling on Silk Road and one of us a mishap with a night in jail.

It's ridiculous how much we put into this hobby for the return we get.  Though the extra check is nice, we can't even easily meet new friends because our lives' are so tangled up in illegal bullshit.

fable(d) will most likely continue, but as one of the original founders on that high-as-shit day when my friend sittis and I thought it'd be neat to sell something we happen to have plenty of access to, I do not plan on being a member of the team much longer.

I am working as a full time server admin and programmer right now, and I just do not have time to deal with these sort tempered, ignorant customers/scammers who feel that they deserve special treatment.   They take up 10 times more unpleasant time spent with them than with reasonable customers who are more likely to get a more lenient refund for being cool.

Both of you are right, though.  Most of our customers are great and are a pleasure to deal with.  I have even gotten pretty close to a few of them, shit's just getting hard to manage as of late even though our process is getting more efficient.

But whatever happens (you're right, Reece),
Stay cool SR  8)

P.S.  Any SR customers reading this should know that, at least with us on the fable(d) team, if you're nice and reasonable we're much more likely to help you out and will often even go out of our way to do things we don't outline in our profile.  If you're an asshole, don't expect timely service because it is a pain dealing with people like you.  And to anyone who threatens a vendor (this happened once, a guy claimed to have bought our address for $10,000 and said he/she was going to send it to the police), it is unacceptable and we really do not care if you even wake up tomorrow so don't worry about us responding to your messages, giving any sort of refunds, and don't plan on ordering again.

Never give in to bastards. You just have to take a step back, think it through and then assess how you are dealing with said bastards, find the holes, trouble shoot them and then develop new methods on how to kick ass and take names. You need to develop a system that leaves no room for people to maneuver.

Don't quit, only quitters quit.

I really hope you guys don't leave.

For those of you that don't have experience with them, fable(d) provides a good product with quick, reliable shipping (at least within the US) at a price that is out of this world. In less words, they're what SR is all about. I come on SR so I can get that kind of service and those products.

The people that be hatin' fall into two camps. The first is simply trying to scam, and get some free product. The second has non-existant social skills, an IQ under 100 and like you said, seems to think that SR is amazon.
