Pretty much anything heavy with breakdowns.
P.S. ISN'T IT THE SHIT ON ACID!?
-
Thy Art is Murder is my all-time favourite. With their old singer though, wish he still sung :(
Whitechapel's alright.
Still, I don't really like the genre deathcore that much, but something about Thy Art is just so.. right.

right on. Some of my favorites are The Contortionist, Within the Ruins, After the Burial, Veil of Maya, Liferuiner, I Declare War, and Molotov Solution. You heard of em?
-
Yeah I've heard of them, I don't listen to them often though.
I more so listened to them in my late teens, after my post-hardcore stage.
I listen to raggacore (like breakcore mixed with ragga vox)
And chipbreak (8bit mixed with breakcore)
I remember when I used to think everything made on a computer was crap.. how times have changed when I've become more open to things.

Wow... by the sounds of it I should go back to the nice quiet space with my Mastodon, Gojira and Meshuggah!!! Maybe brush my hair... I feel so Metal Inadequate!!!
-
I'm a big Tool and Opeth fan.
-
Gojira FTW! New album drops in June:-)
-
I planted Oroborous on the Mrs mobile ph for a ringtone... sat the phone beside her... rang her a minute later and she shit herself!!!
Worth it!!
-
Meshuggah and Opeth are pretty much the only metal bands I have the stomach for.
-
crust punk, japanese hardcore fan here
-
One of my favorite genre's lol. That and rap. Weird I know.
Legend kick's ass.
-
Not really weird... everything else just falls into useless shit. Metal and GOOD rap actually have deep meanings and articulate profound ideas.
-
Interesting, an ideas listener.
I listen to music simply to analyze and breakdown the data, it's in my personality.
That's probably why I listen to complex weird shit.

Interesting perspective mate. Might I suggest Dystopia for your tastes if you've got the time.

Tool
but dont really see a way to pinpoint them into a genre
guess it could be progressive metal????
just inspiring, master muscianship that has touched me like no other band ever.
takes me yrs to digest a Tool album after its released

If you've got any kind of knowledge about music, Tool can be very captivating! Love the polyrythyms in 12/8 and other shit that just makes me cry!!!
-
Tool is really good shit; their music inspires different perceptions and their lyrics are matched almost by none. I'd say they fall under "Technical Metal", sorry for being a genrefag haha.

I turn into a genre fag when I listen to the fuck out of a genre, and everything that I think runs through my social-coolness filter.
It's not a nice place to be, back in juniour high state of mind.
I'm an intense genre nut in chiptune/chipbreak and breakcore/(ragga)jungle.
Then I realize, nobody even knows what these are.
And I say, fuck it. And forget them all, listen to wahtever I want without thinking of that social aspect.
But when I listened to more popular music, the genres that people would talk/know about a lot I'd get pretty snobby :P
Not sure if I still would, as I'm not in high school anymore.

I just meant genrefag by knowing what to file them under xD I could give two shits what genre something is as long as it's good music
