Title: How do I decrypt recipient address using PGP?
Post by: performance on June 26, 2011, 05:46 pm
I have PGP desktop installed, with my own public/private keypair generated. I put the public key into my Silk Road account description (http://ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion/index.php/silkroad/user/3673). Someone placed an order and encrypted their address using my public key.

How do I decrypt it using PGP desktop free edition for Windows? I don't have an email (.eml) or pgp file (.pgp) how do I copy and paste the ciphertext in order to decrypt it?

Thanks!

You should get GPG4Win.  Is that what you have, also says Kleopatra?

If this is the case, find the Kleopatra icon ( while the program is running ) located where your clock is for windows ( usually bottom right ) - > right click that icon -> clipboard -> then choose your operations

You need to most likely first import their public key.

Once you have done this you need to decrypt their message by doing

clipboard -> decrypt

If you want to write a message YOU MUST SELECT BOTH KEYS WHEN MAKING THE MESSAGE.  YOURS AND THE OTHER PERSONS ( BY ADD RECIPIENT -> OTHER CERTIFICATES ( FAR RIGHT TAB ) )

Hope that makes sense

Hmm...I thought that in order to send me a message someone needs only to use my public key to encrypt their message, and then I decrypt it with my private key?
