Title: Question about Customs and International mail to US pertaining to Names
Post by: risky2 on March 17, 2012, 11:33 pm
Ok, let me start off by saying I have received about 6 different items from 6 different countries(even netherlands, for all you its a red flag country BS people out there) with no problems at all. So my current method and address must be working fine. I mostly get domestic US stuff, but I like variety to my drugs sometimes.

My question is how important is it really for the name to match the address for customs and International mail? Here I will give a example to help further illustrate. (And I'm not using my real address or name, not stupid or high enough to put it in this post, heh)

Let's say I'm Fred William, and live at 17 General Street, Hickstown, Ohio US. And the address is legit and listed with that guys name. Now, Let's say I change the name to the old standard 'John Smith' and use same address. Would a custom agent or even a US domestic mail worker ever check the name to the address really? Like he would be, "Wait a second, according to our records no John Smith lives at 17 General Street, Hickstown Ohio, Only Fred William lives there. Hmm better not send it through."

And Let me also add that I know you guys that ship international to US out there, don't want names like Jack Meoff or Billy Butthole, stupid fake names. But would using a "John Smith" really screw anything up?

Oh, I have to add that I get real life plain old mail with wrong names to my address all the time. My local mailman doesn't give a shit. As long the number is right he sticks that in my mailbox.

So can any vet vendor or someone who has good experience with customs or international shipping answer my question? Thanks.

I don't think customs has anything to do with the fake (but realistic) name thing. I think it has more to do with the cat who is actually delivering the mail to your door. If you live in say Hicksville, OH or Bumfuck idaho, your mail carrier probably knows the names of the people living on his route, and HE might be inclined to report some funny business at a specific address to his bosses (so he can get an attaboy). But, if you live in Gotham city , the mailman probably doesn't know or care to know all the names on his route.

My local mail carrier gives me mail with the wrong names to my address all the time. Like I posted before He doesn't give a shit. So I guess using  a 'John Smith' in my case would be ok.  Hmmm Yeah Probably depends on the carrier like you said.

OF FUCKING COURSE!!! What do you THINK they spend their time doing?

They have databases of every name/address pair that's ever received mail. They know when you use a fake name and when you use a real name. It pops up on their screen instantly, they don't even have to check. It's been 30 or 40 years since they started using optical character recognition to read the names & addresses off all mail with a computer and store that information... this shit is all automatic and they're not stupid.

if anything use the name of the mis-delivered mail.
