Title: Battling with IRC - Help!!
Post by: inyala on October 28, 2012, 12:51 pm
Hi People
Needing some help with the finer points of using IRC and Colloquy.
Managed to access the Bitcoin OTC Chatroom where I successfully made a transaction to buy BTC, but I need to register my nick and gpg with Gribble so as to make transactions and give/receive feedback. Have reg with NickServ and verified this through my email.

Need help with:
1. When I go back onto the server it's telling me my nick is not registered.
2. Can't access @Gribble - telling me it's disconnected from the network.

Somehow somewhere do I have an incorrect setting or is there a better and easier client to use than Colloquy?  :-\

if you got the verification via e-mail then you should have reg'd the nick correctly. perhaps you let it lapse?

also, how are you messaging gribble? leave the @ out ;P

there is a guide for getting into the web of trust have you read it?

Have PM'd you eleusis :)
Thanks for advice xl4 - I have read just about all I can set my eyes on   :-[ but I'm getting there! Now using the Adium client for IRC which is much easier but I think the whole problem lies with the fact I'm using a MAC OS X 10.5.8 and the PGP/GPG has been quite tricky to get to work as many of them won't work on this machine :(
Eventually got hold of gribble without the @!
