Title: US Phones and Electronics to Europe and other high tax countries
Post by: ananas_xpress on July 19, 2013, 08:25 pm
I'm sort of new here and wondering has anyone every explored the idea of shipping US high value electronics like I-Phones and so on to other regions of the world where they get shafted on the price such as Europe and Australia.
There is usually at least a 30% markup when Taxes and so on are taken into account,  I think the standard is to just change the dollar sign to Euro so a $349 phone is E349.

It cant be so simple of an idea that nobody has tried it right because I live in one of those expensive regions and would have no problem paying a bit extra to get me a new phone a bit cheaper.

Oh and sorry if  I'm missing something obvious here...I will gladly shame myself out the door  :-[ :-[

EDIT FOR PRICES.

iPhone 5 from Istore usa right now $649.00
iPhone 5 from Istore Germany right now €679.00 or $891.87
So $250 in the difference, Maybe it's not enough when SR commission is taken into account but would like to hear

I will be opening a vendor account soon and might be able to work something out with you.  How about used phones? Only gently worn goods w/original packaging? This would be on a as needed basis.

Oonly problem I now see with this idea and reason I won't be using or going ahead with it in any way is the fact it does give LE an opportunity to sting SR buyers.
Electronic equipment, Maybe I'm paranoid but  I can see how that COULD go wrong

How would you feel about paying $810 including shipping for the base model iphone 5 with an upcharge of $720 per each additional iphone for a maximum of 8 per delivery? Obviously for reselling purposes domestically it would be better to get more than one phone. But if this works I can put up a post right away.

I could do the same for any iphone or ipad.

Base MSRP in Dollars plus $160 for the first device and MSRP + $70 for each additional unit.

For obvious reason stealth would be used in shipment.

Sounds ok but problem for me is still if customs check it and see electronics I'll be slapped with a huge bill.
Hard to know if the risk is worth the reward since it would be hard to sell for RRP in the first place since people assume they fell of the back of a truck so to speak.
I'm sure guarantee would be hard to claim on as well

Yeah that is the inherent risk, not a CD but a bill for stuff like this. If you want to give a shot let me know and I'll make a listing.

Risk doesn't match the reward for me to carry it out on a large scale and too much of a markup there to make it worth trying one and maybe paying over $1000 in the end, No way to return it.
I think I'm beginning to see why there is so few electronics now
