Ok, so I just placed my first order. I want to run through the steps I took and make sure I did everything correct. I copied the vendor's public key into my text editor and saved it as a .asc file. Then I imported it as a new key. Then I used that public key file to encrypt my mailing info and pasted the encrypted message into the appropriate field when I place my order, entered my PIN and clicked the Place Order button. It now says processing. First, did I do all of that correctly? The vendor should be able to decrypt with his priv key now. What if he needs to communicate back to me though? Should I have sent vendor my public key and my e-mail address as well? If so, how can I do that after the fact or none of this necessary and should I just keep an eye on the mail?

THATS A LOT OF QUESTIONS FOR ONE PARAGRAPH. RE ORGANIZE AND I BET YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET AN ANSWER. BUT GOOD FOR YOU FOR GOING THE PGP ROUTE,

The pgp is so hard.

That looks like the correct method to me. I save a public key to a .txt file and import that, otherwise I used the same steps as you. If they need to contact you, they'll most likely PM you on the SR website, I would think.

You really only need PGP for sensitive information, like your address.
Simple questions can be sent in cleartext.

If you want you can use privnote but it is more dangerous

You can put your PGP public key in this topic: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=107219.0;topicseen
and test it with other users.
