Title: Free VPN
Post by: kahn on June 07, 2013, 06:11 am
If you want to use a free, open source, easy to set up VPN for all your net traffic, (http://softether.org/ ). Incredible number of volunteers using their systems to facilitate a free world wide VPN. This is a bunch of Japanese students that have set this up. I don't know when or if they will start trying to charge for it. Once you've got the software DL'd, what can they do? I expect they will, at some point, charge for the service but if the software is still in use and the volunteers continue to act as servers, all they can do is discontinue support.

DL the VPN Gate ( http://www.vpngate.net) to access an easily usable list of volunteer IP addresses. The number of available volunteer IP addresses, world wide, is astounding. No problem using w/Tails or TOR. You're traffic will look like it's coming from France, Japan, India, Slovenia, etc, etc, etc. Korea doesn't like you to look at porn...

Just FYI. If you're paying for a "private" VPN, read the fine print. Do your own research.

To be safe  8)  connect to another country that doesn't monitor traffic (unlike US-- Read: Guardian/Washington Post article about the NSA-- We all knew, now there's proof. Just a warning, NSA monitors ALL traffic to/from "foreign" countries. No matter where you're at, if you use any of the largest search engine, Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. they ALL have servers in the USA and are subject to monitoring by NSA  :o

Don't know if anyone's interested, I use it everyday. Switch country of origin often. Drives my bank crazy, AM, I'm in Sweden, PM, in Brazil, late night, Philippines, next day, Russian Federation. I've had them call my private phone to ask where I was and to "Inform" me they were getting inquiries from all over the world. I told them I used a "switching VPN service and they were welcome to use double authentication.

If you're having trouble setting it up PM me and I'll do what I can.

Life's a gas in the 21st century  ;D
