Title: MOONSHINE
Post by: pathenry76 on September 13, 2013, 10:37 pm

This moonshine is guaranteed to be cleaner and more smooth than any store bought aged whiskey. It has been hand crafted in micro batches to higher standards than conventional commercial distilleries. It is great straight, on the rocks, or in mixed drinks. And because it is homemade and black market, you can drink with a clear conscience that your money has not gone to fund war, death, or oppression of any kind.

It has been distilled four times from a neutral wash of sugar, water, and yeast. Most commercial distillers collect whats called the "middle third cut", discarding the first and last third of the distillate which contain contaminates. This moonshine has been cut according to the "middle fifth cut", keeping only the very heart of the run for the cleanest and smoothest tasting alcohol.

It is then put through a several weeks activated carbon filtration process which removes any remaining contaminates. This accomplishes in a few weeks what years of barrel aging never completely does, which is to remove the "bite" of the alcohol. The final product is a surprisingly smooth and utterly clean drink that will leave you with no hangover (other than the
effects of dehydration).

I sell it like I drink it, 100 proof.

A lot of myths surround bootleg moonshine. Going blind, poison, etc. During prohibition, the federal government still allowed certain types of alcohol for medical and other purposes. There apparently were instances of them intentionally putting poison into this legal alcohol so that if anyone drank it, they were get sick. Also the distillation process produces some pretty nasty stuff if you don't know how to make the proper cuts. Methanol is among the nasties produced. Methanol can poison and even kill you if it is drunken straight. More likely, an unscrupulous moonshiner would have it mixed with the rest of the run. This wouldn't poison you but it would sure make the alcohol taste bad. Other bad practices like using car radiators for condensers have besmirched the reputation of moonshiners. But if you know what you're doing and use proper materials and practices, distilling alcohol is perfectly safe. In fact, when done right, it can be much better than store bought alcohol. No hang-over as an example.

Since my moonshine has gone through such a thorough filtration process, it affects you a little differently than store bought alcohol. Commercial distilleries intentionally leave some of the nasties in their alcohol because that is where the flavor of the corn, rye, or barley comes through. It is usually a trade secret of exactly how much they leave in because it affects the flavor profile. But it is these that give whiskey it's "bite", give you a hang over, and is part of the "drunk" that you feel. When they are completely removed, the drunk kind of sneaks up on you. At first it doesn't feel like you're getting drunk because you're not getting that feeling you're used to with store bought whiskey and it's nasties. Plus the clean flavor makes you think you're consuming less alcohol than you really are. But then the alcohol hits you and you realize you're way more drunk than you thought. There has been more than one occasion when I have been drinking it, not feeling too drunk, then all of a sudden I realize I'm completely wasted. It takes a little getting used to. Of course the dosage would differ depending on the person and their alcohol tolerance.

I think that's why so many states don't allow selling 'grain' alcohol, it doesn't have a smell (100% alcohol has no smell) and people drink it like it is nothing (check out you tube videos, they have some hilarious videos of people drinking moonshine, getting fucked up and not realizing it at first)
I know one time I had about an inch in the bottom of a big glass (ok maybe 1-1/2" but not more than that) and I drank it with OJ, and I thought, "I don't feel that drunk, I think I'll have another". The next thing I know it's 5:00 am my smoke alarm has gone off (I was cooking) house was filled with smoke, and I had this 'splitting' headache. Man, it was lucky something didn't catch fire!
It's really easy for the uninitiated to drink more than they think that they are and get a DUI, etc.

One thing I love is that since the moonshine is neutrally flavored, it mixes well with everything. I like experimenting with all kinds of flavorings.

Growing up in the south i had a boner for everclear.  Not the taste though.  Grain alcohol does have a smell and a taste.  I am curious as to why I should order from you mr henry instead of buying a liter of everclear.

Best drinking song: Roger Creager - Everclear.
