Title: Privnote is disabled when I use Tor for SilkRoad
Post by: Hassan I Sabbah on May 28, 2012, 05:33 pm
Last night and this morning I attempted to use Privnote to encrypt an e-mail to a vendor. However, although I never had any problem before cutting and pasting my message this is no longer functioning.

I have difficulty with figuring out PGP encryption despite numerous attempts.  I am now using QuickForget.com but want to make sure this is a safe service (not another 'Hush' false sense of security).

Any observations/ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Well this is probably a good sign. There is no doubt there are people on a task force after SR and they probably go after a lot of these msg srvcs like tormail, hushmail, and privnote.  At least if LEO is trying to engage SR, this shows you their current low-level in the cat and mouse game.

LEARN PGP! I know If this place is still here in 2 months, I will be learning it because Im gonna be a vendor.

privnoye sucks, hate it, shit idea even on paper

PGP is so easy to set up as well, well not like one click and it's done but once it's up and running, golden
I'm going to the requests forum now as it goes, had an idea

I thought Privnote ain't working because it uses/requires JS which is disabled by default if you're using a Tor based browser/package/linux distro?

Vendors, STOP using Mac PGP....it blows and doesn't work.

Yeah...but...no.

There are plenty of Mac users (even Vendors) using GPG just fine my friend.

What are you having trouble with, and what OS are you using?  I'd be happy to walk you through it, whether you're using Linux or Winsnooze.   GPG4Win and GPA for Linux are both fairly straight forward one you've done it a time or two.

I thought Privnote ain't working because it uses/requires JS which is disabled by default if you're using a Tor based browser/package/linux distro?

Yeah, privnote only works if you enable javascript.  I'll pass for that reason alone, not to mention the fact that it involves another level of trust that is completely unnecessary.

Thank you for saying this. If you use some "service" like Privnote, you are going out of your way to help the police cause you problems in the future.

Someone please sticky this. It is an actual FAQ.
