Title: High price for seller fee worth it ?
Post by: kirkoff2 on April 05, 2013, 10:52 am
Im interested in opening up a seller account on SR, but turned off
by the high price, 6 BTC.

I plan on providing art/music/CAD software, old school adventure PC games,
World Cup soccer match on HD quality via either mail or download link.
I know a lot of people use TPB, but recently ISPS are cracking down on people using BitTorrent or people dont want to deal with the hassle, get viruses, or deal with fakes. Think a good investment in the long run ?

Difficult to say Kirkoff, it would depend on how much money you were hoping to make. A good place to start would be checking out vendors offering similar products and trying to get an idea of how much money they may bring in (one simple way is multiplying feedback by purchase price divided by the age of the oldest feedback). Vending is more than a money commitment, you'll have to commit your precious time as well.

Remember, although the vendor bond may be expensive, it's there to weed out the scammers and wasters, and once you've proven yourself you'll get your bond back. Many vendors have been lucky in this regard as SR is giving back the amount of btc paid, and with the recent inflation of btc prices they are making a serious profit off of it.

   Good luck, AB.
