I've rarely seen these available outside indonesia, but i wonder if anyone would be ably to supply cartons of them (sampoerna, djarum super) at reasonable prices.
For those unfamiliar: clove cigarettes are very popular in indonesia, and retail there for a very attractive price of about $1.5 a pack. I suppose they are not available in most countries because of their very high content of tar and nicotine (32 and 1.8 mg respectively for djarum super). The clove makes them very easy to smoke, though the smell is distinctive and some people hate it, while other prefer it over that of ordinary cigarettes.
-
Man, I haven't seen a clove cigarette since college.... Wouldn't be surprised if they were a big seller, as far as I know the USA banned any forms of flavored cigarettes from sale within the USA.
-
I wouldn't even call them flavoured - they do contain quite a lot of clove and that has interesting effects in itself when smoked. Obviously you could blend small pieces of clove with rolling tobacco to make something similar, but i doubt it would be the same.
In europe kreteks cannot be legally sold: the upper limit for tar and nicotine is 10 and 1 mg respectively, all indonesian kretekts exceed that by quite a bit. In other asian countries they also seem to be few and far between though. I have seen some sold on the streetside in Bangkok, but those had indonesian labels and no thai health warnings, so i suspect they were simply smuggled.

I love those clove cigarettes: definitely!!

Sign me up too.

I recently bought the clove 'cigar's' that are the replacement for the cigs in the US. They look just like the cigs but the tobacco has a longer cut than the cigs therefore they are classified as a 'cigar' even though they look just like the cigs and the tobacco looks the same to me and smokes the same. Others have disagreed with me on this in the past so try them and see I guess.
As for getting a carton of the real thing shipped from Indonesia and getting it through US customs would be a bitch. I would like a pack of the unfiltered cigs I used to smoke back in the 90's when I went clubbing those puppies rocked.
-
Only can do it!
-
I wouldn't see why it would be harder than a pack of ordinary cigarettes. The cartons are a bit smaller (they usually come in 10 boxes of 12 or 16 pieces). I'll probably take some back to europe from indonesia this summer, and may as well try to send a carton or two to myself to see what happens.
Problem is that the indonesian postal services are pretty unreliable as it is - even postcards don't always make it, or take 6 weeks to arrive. I even heard some people crack open mailboxes to get the stamps from the mail and resell them - guess sending it from the post office would be a good start :D
-
I would love to see this on SR as well. For those who think the cigars even come close to being as good, you're mistaken. The cigars lack the sweet flavor that the cigarettes have.
-
The Djarum 'cigars' (even though they are just cigarettes re-branded) have the sweet taste to them. They have 6 diff flavors at a discount tobacco shop near me. They are ~$4.50 a pack though. I really don't recall a difference between the cloves I bought 10 years ago, and these honestly. I don't remember soo many flavors though, so thats a nice addition.
Can anyone confirm a difference (besides using long-cut tobacco, which i prefer ??) ???
Update: Oh yeah Djarum actually makes a cigar version of the cloves too, they are 2-3 times bigger, and have a wooden tip on them. It's hard to finish a whole one. I'll take a look around and see what other Clove cigs/cigars I can find besides Djarum.

I personally prefer the Djarum Super kreteks, as they are really strong clove cigarettes and a very different experience from cigarettes or cigars. When in indonesia i frequently smoke the lighter sampoerna ones - which are sold as "mild" but still pack more punch then ordinary cigarettes for sure.
Kretek afficionados would problably prefer the hand-rolled 'dji sam soe' brand which is considered the best available by many, though i personally don't like the sharp taste. Same goes for the 'gudang garam' brand that is widely smoked in indonesia. The sweet flavour often comes from the filter that is treated with something that smells/tastes sweet and a minty/anisy.
Also, there is quite a difference between the previously international 'djarum black' product and the domestic 'djarum super' kreteks. The domestic variety is quite a bit stronger, and takes over 10 minutes to smoke at a relaxed pace.
-
Talk about a proper smoke break! ~10 mins, I'd be careful about big puffs on something like that, ha! :o
Even the small ones get me light-headed, and/or nauseous if I smoke too quickly.
-
Kreteks should not be smoked in a hurry :)
I guess not being compatible with hurry makes them typically indonesian as well, which i love.

I remember the last time I smoked a Djarum... One long night in college spent with a large bottle of jagermeister and clove cigarettes. The night did NOT end well for me, and that's the last time I smoked a clove and also the last time I drank Jager....

Why does everyone want to buy them here....?
Just go to google, the shopping section, and search Djarum Blacks. I used to buy them by the carton all the time.... 10 packs with 12 each for $35.
Which is a good price, around here at places like smokers friendly they sell for about $5. (South East USA)
Why complicate them and get them on SR? Just get them on an ordinary site. They're not illegal nor hard to obtain.

Despite what the naysayers have posted, there is a very distinct difference between the 20 per pack black cigarettes and the 12 per pack cigars flavor-wise. The cigars don't have the sugar flavor sprayed on them like the cigarettes in the US used to, the tobacco is cigar tobacco which is not meant for inhaling, and they have tobacco wraps which I could take or leave. If you offer them at a reasonable price, I still stand by the fact that I would purchase some.

They are really different products:
http://www.djarum.com/index.php/en/brands/international/17
http://www.djarum.com/index.php/en/brands/domestic/1
The international djarums are also sold in indonesia, both the natural clove version and ones with added flavour like chocolate, vanilla or menthol.
The international version has 10 mg tar, 1.0 mg nicotine declared on the side of the package. The domestic Djarum Super product is very different, and lists 32 mg tar, 1.8 mg nicotine on the side of the box.

Nice to see you have the real deal :)
Shipping cost is a bit steep for me, but i can imagine its worth it for those with no local contacts in indonesia for sure.

About the shipping cost,i use the shipping price standard from ems express for per carton & im sure it only take 5-7 days to ur place :).
-
Perhaps you should offer shipping by normal indonesian post too. I know it takes ages to arrive, but in generally works out okay if you allow a month or so for the package to arrive.

Its better to use ems express mate,so buyer & seller can see that the product arrive save & sound.
If i use normal post,it takes ages & there is no proof if the buyer lying / not to me by saying that its not arrive, hope u understand. ;)

Tracking surely has benefits, but in case of shipping a carton of kreteks from indonesia to europe, the shipping costs are far higher than the price of the kreteks. Indonsia post isn't that reliable though, so i guess its even feasible that it would get stolen before ever leaving the country.
I've rarely had such problems sending things out of indonesia, but sending anything to an indonesian address that looks remotely valuable has a decent risk of disappearing somewhere en route ;)

Hey guys, just want to give u heads up..i've update my listing & theres a wide selections of cigs now.
Please take a tour at my profile. cheers! :)

Oh ya,
I forgot to say somethings, have u wonder why u have to buy cigs at SR instead of clearnet?
This is the answer:
1. SR ESCROW = Your insurance safety of transaction. (for what u have to deal with anonymous clearnet vendor with no reputations?)
2. All the cigs i sold is real & NOT counterfiet, each pack have a "indonesia duty stamp" on it.
3. I have the best price on the darknet, even if u compare with clearnet vendor,my price beats them!
So what are u waiting for? place your order now. :D :)
-
Having the escrow system is great indeed.
Counterfeit wouldn't worry me too much... a pack of 16 djarum super only costs rp 17600 (just under us$2) retail in indonesia, so there would be little point in counterfeiting these - making counterfeit marlboros is far more profitable and a lot easier since it does not require the cloves ;)

Yep,those are the price that they are selling in here..but i also got to make a living bro..hope u understand that too. ;)
Even if u compare with the clearnet vendors,my price still beats them..they sell like 35-50$ / carton for kretek brands..also for what u have to deal with them without escrow? ;D
I can guarantee u all that all my international cigs brand (marlboro/luckies/pall mall/mild7,etc)that i sell is 100% real & not counterfeit. 8)

Of course you should make a decent margin on these, getting them packed and ready to ship plus postage is quite costly.
I just want to create some transparency between the retail prices of cigarettes and kreteks within Indonesia and the cost of having them delivered abroad.

Ok cool man.
Thank you for your understanding.
I already found a shipping cost formula for ems per carton for 30$,
Its applicable worldwide too..hehehe
Hope everybody happy now.
