heya all .....
was thinking of copping a few PO BOXES ...
previously for some reason when I use my real name and address (on amounts that dont warrant a charge) it comes through no worries ... on amounts of similar quantity in a different name ...... - it just didnt turn up !!
Thinking POBOXes .. do AUSPOST have you named linked to your POBOX ... so if im say George Bush, POBOX 123, QLD, 4000 ... when recieving mail at John Smith @ same POBOX would it be more likely or less likely or just possibly chances chances
auspost say that your name isnt listed on your POBOX ... its anonynous etc etc ?
i need thoughts people ?
i got some seriously good arrival as of late to addresses with the correct name (im talking 100% over the last 6 weeks - no longer then 2-3 weeks) ....
if anyone knows please tell let a man know
peace

I wouldn't go setting up PO boxes in fake names and then using them solely for illicit purposes. If you do get a PO box, i'd be 100% certain that the name on the envelope matches what you registered the PO box with. You will also need ID which gets checked via the postal lookup system.
You're already doing something highly illegal... best not to add fuel to the fire.

I think if you can get a clean skin to open a post box for you that they let you use, that would be the way to go.
Dont know what the SR conventional wisdom is.

In the 'Australian shipping' threads we have had this discussion quite a few times but here is a quick rundown on how Aussie PO Box's work.
When they mention 'anonymous' it is not the same type of 'anonymous' that we here on SR want, it is more to do with the fact that the people sending you mail do not get to know your home address. Which for me is one of the main reasons I use a PO Box.
You will need to pass the '100 point' ID check when opening a box which is normally your drivers license and an utility bill so yes Australia Post do have your details.
But incoming mail does not always have to match the name of the person who rented the box. You can accept mail for friends or a small home-based business without drawing any unwanted attention. And, of course, you will more than likely also receive mail addressed to the previous renters of the box.
Some Post Offices are probably stricter than others so you may even like to ask them prior to opening the box whether this will be a problem for them (phone them from a payphone if you are ultra-paranoid).
Now unless you have access to VERY good fake ID and are happy to appear on their cameras using that fake ID then forget that avenue. Adds another layer of illegality to the whole process. There will be times when a parcel may not fit into your box so they will leave you a little red card asking you to come inside and pick it up. More time on their cameras.
From my experience it hasn't mattered whether I use my real name, a fake name, or a previous renter's name there hasn't been any noticeable difference on what gets through and what doesn't.
One last thing, if an incoming parcel/letter is going to require a signature on delivery or it is too big to fit in the box then don't use a name that you don't have ID for. Pretty obvious I know but the worst thing is knowing you have a kilo of coke sitting in the PO but you have no ID to pick it up. :D
Hope some of this helped.

I'm finally getting a PO box, they cost like $98 dollars and also $8 for keys or something yeah?
Are you sure it's a 100point ID check, I thought it was just a photographic ID and that'll suffice.
I'll have a chat to my local post office soon.
Anyone think a small-sized PO box is enough for holding just average letters?
