Title: FDA to begin Banning Vicodin/Percocet
Post by: oppyate on November 21, 2011, 01:38 am
Not sure how factual this may be, but there's more and more talk about moving Hydrocodone to a Class II and FDA Panel will likely Ban painkillers w/ Tylenol.

While listening to the news on the radio they said that the FDA was going to limit the amount of tylenol in each pill. I believe they said that no more than 325mg of tylenol will be allowed in a piil with narcotics. The report didn't mention of making hydro sched 2. that would make it very inconvenient for a lot of doctors not being able to call in a lortab script..

Yeah, it may sound far fetched that hydrocodone would be re-classified, but there are 2 Senators really pushing a Bill (cant tell you the Bill Number, HR?) at the adive of our buddies at the DEA.  http://www.findrxonline.com/rss/articles/hydrocodone-prescriptions.html

If l come across the details and Bill Number I'll pass it along.

Hydrocodone has 90% of the strength of oxycodone but can easily be dissolved in water. If I had to buy a crap ton of pills (as opposed to one or two instant release oxycodone pills) I would go for the Vicodins and just extract the hydrocodone.

5mg of Hydrocodone is equivalent to 3.33mg of Oxycodone
OR  5mg of Oxycodone is equal to 7.5mg of Hydrocodone. not 90%

I can't find it now but I read on either the Hydrocodone or Oxycodone Wikipedia page that it was 90% the strength.

I have seen that opiate conversion chart too. There's quite a few converters around and different figures show up. I think it's because there's so many variables to consider (one converter may include corss-tolerance where as another may not) that makes it hard to determine the exact amount required. I'm just going to stick with "hydrocodone is almost as strong as oxycodone".  ;)

To my knowledge; I have always considered hydrocodone and oxycodone in the same boat when it comes to potency.
