Title: Accessing Bitinstant from TOR?
Post by: barnum4141 on May 25, 2012, 04:41 pm
Is anyone else unable to use Bitinstant from behind TOR?  When I go to the main page I don't see the screen for setting up deposits.  I'm wondering if it requires Java/flash to be enabled.  Any ideas how to access it?  I'd really prefer to do so from behind TOR.

Yeah same problem here. I have to go on clearnet to do so, but thats where I feel like FUCK!!! since it's recorded my IP. I dont understand when to use clearnet, when to use TOR, which websites for what, and what goes with who, so I say fuck it and just use what little common sense I have left.

I may be wrong, but from my experience, I think parts of the BitInstant site won't work without javascript (which of course we should all have turned off).  But if you enable javascript, it works through tor, at least it did for me.  However, I'm not sure of the potential risks in enabling javascript for a limited amount of time on one site.

A lot of people if not most don't use tor for bitinstant/Mtgox. With bitinstan you don't have to use id to make a deposit at the banks once you buy the coins just wash them and you should be fine. if your really worried use a open wifi network to do it.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.  I'm not too worried about bitinstant anymore when depositing cash anonymously - it's a really great system.
