Title: address box on SR
Post by: rottenbeef52 on September 09, 2013, 05:31 pm
is the box where you put your address when placing an order the same place to put notes or preferences to the seller? for example if the seller offered free samples to go along with orders and you wanted a specific item as the free sample would you tell them underneath the spot where you put your address??

Its usually ok, most vendors will say "just pop it in the address box when ordering"  ;)

You could do that, and the seller will likely just copy&paste the (encrypted!) address, but I prefer not to do enter any additional information. First of all, it makes life easier for the seller, second, if by accident the seller includes this non-address information on the envelope / label, your package could be compromised. Better just put the address and send a message to the vendor, where you include the transaction URL.

Yes you can add the additional information before or after your address any way you want to do it.  It's not that critical.  What is critical IMO and many others around these parts is that you ENCRYPT your address. Please don't go typing your address in that box unless the vendor you're buying from does not work with pgp.  It's asking for trouble!

In my book, vendors not working with PGP are not acceptable. (and if I were a vendor, I would not accept addresses in cleartext).

Exactly.  I should have taken it a step further and advised you to not use any vendor who doesn't work with PGP encryption.  It's simply too risky!  Please find a vendor who uses it.
