Title: Sending packages to a small 'mail service' business instead of home?
Post by: nokitty on April 20, 2012, 06:58 am
So I called around my town to find some 'mom and pop' mail services that would allow me to send packages to them and pick them up. I found one place that is located in a strip mall run by a lady. She says you can send her a package, she will hold it, you come to pick it up for 2$ each package, and no ID of any kind is needed except to know the name on the package.

Mailing to a mailing service like this would allow me to avoid using any of my personal info at any point of interaction. What do you guys think? I don't think any self-respecting mail service would open the package of a customer, and if they did, what could/would they do even IF they knew my name?

Interesting suggestion... can anyone chime in with some official/unofficial legal advice on this option???

I know this guy who had something like this going with a service like this, worked fine a few times. Then the nosy fucker opened the package for a "security check" as he described it, saw what was in it, handed it over to the police. 100% illegal what he did, but there were illegal contents inside so it wasn't like the person this belonged to could do anything. Apart of course from find out where he lived and go seek compensation through other means. It does happen.

& the reason I think there was no follow up was because the moron opened the package, his prints were on it, he could have planted it there and so on. Doubt the police were very happy with him and his stupid antics.

Technically I think they could ask the LE for a warrant? But 99/100 they are just going to cooperate fully with any request from LE.

Perhaps if you had a legit cover company, in a more legit place they would insist on the warrant for fear of legal action on your part if there was nothing in it.
