Title: "allow scripts globally (dangerous)"
Post by: tbart on August 08, 2013, 01:32 am
been meaning to ask this for awhile

before starting to browse, using iceweasel in Tails, after it pulls up the Tails web url, i go up to Edit > preferences and uncheck "allow javascript"

then under the general tab on the NoScripts options list, i usually find "allow scripts globally" unchecked, but find it checked under the "appearance" tab - does it being unchecked in the general tab prevent it from being allowed as checked under the appearance tab? I've been unchecking there as well as a general precaution

2nd, i sometimes it checked under the general tab - not often, but once in awhile - what gives? this is a fresh install (after the FH scare i formatted my USB drive and reloaded everything

tks in advance

Clicking on the red S next to the onion logo, I uncheck the "allow scripts globally" box. Never noticed the options in the other locations before. Under the appearance tab I found it checked, so I unchecked it. Under "edit", "preferences", found "enable java script" box was checked, so I unchecked it.

I also am curious if all those items are one in the same or not, and if unchecking the first one should have automatically unchecked the others. One more thing to add to my start up check list.

believe it's recommended to check "forbid <Frame>" as well as "Forbid ,iFrame>" and also "Forbid@font-face"

i also tried unchecking "allow cookies" but then couldn't get on the forums here, went back and checked it and only then could i log in to the forums
