Title: Vendor's Happy Daze
Post by: aginalda on April 12, 2013, 01:19 pm
I'm thinking good times may be coming for Silk Road vendors.  Why?  Well, according to the USCDC 8.7 percent of folks over 12 years old reported taking illicit drugs within thirty days.  Among those attracted to bitcoin, I suspect that portion is higher than 8.7%.   But sticking with the CDC's number, that means 8.7% of the general population are potential SR buyers.  Why aren't more of these buyers using SR now?  Because SR buyers have to use bitcoins, and learning about and acquiring  bitcoins is a challenge for newbies.  Mt. Gox, though, has reported a huge increase in the establishment of new bitcoin accounts as the result of interest in bitcoin generated by the recent price spike.  So, it seems like a whole new wave of potential new buyers has cleared the highest hurdle to shopping on SR.  Silk Road seems to me like that baseball stadium Kevin Costner built in the cornfields, and I can hear James Earl Jones' voice, "If you build it, they will come".
