Good question . . . I'm interested in reading what others have to say about this. I've been using my SR address—a different one each time—but many here feel tumbling one's BTC is the only way to go.

This prolly depends on the situation.

I just send it to my SR account

BUT

I don't keep anything around should anyone come looking.

I also make relatively small purchases (less than $500 at a time)

I do not keep funds in my accounts, I only put $$ in to be spent right away. Again, so if anyone was looking, I wouldn't loose anything.

I imagine if I spent more and kept a balance, and had something to be found in my house then I would want to be more safe

It depends upon what level of paranoia you sport. Personally, I like to fly as far below the radar as possible.

This is all in the stickies on the forum, but what I do is to get a Mailinator temporary email address and a Instawallet temporary wallet. From BitInstant with a cash deposit using fake info, I have the Bitcoins sent to the Instawallet address (BE SURE NOT TO LOSE THE URL!) and then from there to my SR wallet.

I feel like doing this is a lot safer than going directly to your SR wallet, but again, I'm paranoid.  :o

Open a tormail account and choose to send your BTC to email from BitInstant when you generate the invoice. Once you get your BTC in your email you can route them to your SR BTC address directly or via one or more BTC addresses depending upon how safe you want to be. I read that some folks use bitcoinfog service or something to make the trace trail bit difficult.

Hope that helps!
