Title: Could a Tor exit node operator login to your account?
Post by: Silpheed on January 30, 2012, 08:29 pm
This site:
http://torcheck.xenobite.eu/

..says "If you're planning to visit password protected sites on non-encrypted connections, keep in mind that some exit-nodes record the passwords and possibly use them for abuse!"

AFAIK, Silk Road and the forums are both not accessible via https://

So does this mean that someone running an exit node on Tor could possibly view login/password information and then access to your account?

Duffman is correct; .onion sites exist only within the Tor network, and Tor automatically encrypts traffic to and within the network.
