Title: Upgrading to new version of tails
Post by: Glitch_in_a_Dream on September 28, 2013, 05:56 pm
Hello,

I already have a Electrum 0.19 on one of the USB Stick 1,Downloaded the latest version on another USB Stick 2 and well all set to clone and upgrade, but I realized I have a Electrum Wallet set up in my persistent drives in USB Stick 1,so my question is....Will upgrading to a newer version of tails erase/wipe out my electrum wallet or will it still remain intact?

Thank You

A returning traveler

Peace (:

If the Electrum wallet is the only thing you have in your persistent volume, just reseed it on your new Tails installation.

But yeah, the persistent volume should be kept:

As long as you chose clone&UPGRADE your persistent will stay as it is.
I did it once at it worked all fine ;)
But you need to first install the USB2 with newer version of tails from running usb1 with iso on it
Then run USB2 with new tails to clone and upgrade the USB1 where your persistent is installed

I decided to try it too - I am now typing this on Tails 0.20.1 (was on 0.19), and my persistent volume is still here. Use Clone & Upgrade as IDNLP says.
