Title: Question about new bitcoin address ...
Post by: Iliveinthekhole on June 04, 2013, 12:13 pm
I got a question about "getting a new SR bitcoin wallet address" ... so if I click get a new address and it gives me a new wallet number ... does my balance from my old address just roll over to my new address?

yes. and if you deposit anything to your old address it *should* turn up in your account as well, as long as you don't do it a month later or so

Awesome thank you!

Another quick question ...

If I get a new wallet address, am I the only one that can see the "history" of my address's?

ex: Just say I was to use Spendbitcoins.com to buy coins, and I give them my new wallet number, are they able to see that I have changed address's? Assuming of coarse I use all new account and email and everything for my new sign up at spendbitcoins.

not sure about the history of addresses, i don't think so, i would imagine only you and SR admins know the history.

the block chain itself is public, so anyone can see what transactions are going on. it's a pain in the arse to follow the trail but it's doable. that's why people use tumblers and bitcoin fog.

SR supposedly has a tumbler built into the deposit bit, so your coins get jumbled with a load of other peoples before they hit their final destination (your wallet), in effect making it impossible to trace your deposit to your account. they would be able to see it was sent to a Silk Road btc wallet address, but not where it ended up in SR
