Post by: generalm3sS on December 02, 2011, 09:38 pm
Hey,

Just to let people know, If you take money to Lloyds TSB the money is in pretty much the same day. Intersango it is anyways. Now thats a fast way of getting BTC :)

No, you take cash into Lloyds and put the cash into the intersango's account. The money is then debited to your intersango account within about 5 hours and then you can buy BTC.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but how exactly would I go about depositing funds into the Intersango account?  I've never really used any kind of bank facility before, and I'm a little confused.

Do I just go to my nearest Lloyds Branch and ask for a transfer form or something?

When you sign up for a acct on Intersango, they'll give you their Acct NAME, NUMBER, SORT CODE and your own UNIQUE reference number.

You just walk into Lloyds, grab a paying in slip, whack those details down including the REFERENCE NUMBER on the paper, wrap the paper round the cash, give it to person behind counter and say:

"I'd like to deposit this, please make sure you enter the reference number aswell"

job done :)

Good stuff. Will give it a go on my next payday! Haha

Any updates on the problems over there?

ahh bugger...time to start using Mt Gox methinks! I loved intersango...+ no fees was a bonus, I think Mt Gox fees were 0.5% and also the asking prices on bitcoins @ Mt Gox are lower then intersango (on some days A LOT lower, like a £0.15-25 difference per coin...)

I hear that LE 'watch Mt Gox like a hawk' . I like the anonymity of Intersango, and wouldn't want to risk using Mt Gox.

They do, but we aren't vendors and were not dealing in large volumes of BTC so big fucking deal it's pretty obvious what were using BitCoins for anyhows...

I would use MtGox to buy + Intersango to sell BTC's..

Paysafe card + Ukash can be traded on sites like VirWoX for BTC, at an okay rate. Sucks that I can't find either in my area. I'll be trying Intersago for the first time in a week and will let you know what happens  :)

You can get UKash from almost any corner shop or post office in the UK. UKash often isn't specifically advertised but if you ask in any shop with one of those yellow paypoint or payzone stickers by the till, you can get vouchers.

I tried every pay point in town. I even printed off the 'help your local shop' leaflet things and tried to explain what I was looking for. Communication is a problem, 'cause most of the local paypoint owned can barely speak English

Agreed, yes, they've had a few issues recently but there pretty much the best one and fastest one in the UK. The fact is banks aren't going be the best compliant with BTC market cause it has the potential to see them out of business so i expect things not to run smoothly ALL the time. And the charge is minimal and i hope it helps keep the service top notch now. I suspect there pay ins may have been to get the extra 0.65% off transactions but im guessing we'll never know :)

Being able pay it in relatively anonymously is pretty sweet too :)

In some banks (like Halifax) you don't even need to speak to go to counter clerk..they have deposit machines inside the branches where you just drop the cash and slip into a sealed envelop drop it through the slot in machine and bobs your uncle...

Some of you sure are ungrateful, especially when you consider intersango has been doing this for NOTHING for nearly a year. The fees they're charging now are minuscule as well.

I can't believe you expected them to run like an ordinary business when they're not making any money. These people have lives of their own you know.

Amir, the guy behind intersango is an absolute beast. The work his does, the countless interviews he's been doing (usually in defence of Bitcoin). This is a revolutionary figure in the making. Thank fuck us Brits have a UK based bitcoin exchange is all I can say and I genuinely trust these people. If a transfer takes 3 days, fuck it, it takes 3 days. I greatly appreciate the work they do.

It all sounds a little too good to be true. I'll be giving this a try sometime tomorrow and will update later.

Just like to re-iterate that intersango use Lloyds TSB and i dont know if you use other banks if its as quick or even possible. On a brighter note, Most banks have cash in points but be warned, They are not collected until the end of day and wont be processed by the bank until the next working day if you do use the post boxes ;)

iNTERSANGO IS AMAZINGLY EFFICIENT IN MY EXPERIENCE. iF i DEPOSIT IN THE MORNING THEN BY MIDNIGHT MY MONEY IS READY. (Sorry about caps lock but I am too lazy to rewrite it)
After 12 pm then it is in by 5pm the following day. Their support email is very efficient and i think they respond from the West Coast of the US and it takes a little bit of time for a respond but they are a professional and efficient organization.

I have never heard of or used Intersango until I saw this thread, but I might give it a try next time. I normally use Mtgox (US based I think) who's service is flawless and sounds similar to Intersango.. the transaction charge is a very reasonable 0.6% and there is no fee to deposit or withdraw funds, at least not for GBP anyway. They have a bank account with Barclays Bank in the UK and several others around the world for all the major currencies. I usually get my deposits showing within 24 hours.

Intersango is the shit. Quick, easy and anonymous. (Well except for walking into a bank filled with cameras.) Ah well, swings and roundabouts eh?
