Title: Issue with Paperchasing
Post by: Kougle on November 09, 2011, 03:48 am
A few weeks ago, I PM'd Paperchasing inquiring about purchasing some 2c-e pills. I was still waiting on dwolla before I could get my money changed into btc, so I certainly couldn't purchase it immediately. At the time, due to inexperience, I thought it was less conspicuous to work outside of SR and send the btc directly to the dealer's account and the necessary personal information to the dealer's email (but not mentioning anything incriminating in the email itself). However, by the time I had bought my btc, Paperchasing's 2c-e was out of stock. I went ahead and sent him my 9 btc anyway. I PM'd him again asking if he had shipped, and he responded as though we had never talked before. I can only assume it was a different person using the Paperchasing account, but I really have no idea. He said that there was nothing on his order page regarding 2c-e, which made sense because I hadn't ordered the item using SR and I had simply sent him the btc and told him what I wanted. Since he was out of 2c-e, I asked for 2c-i instead (which was roughly the same price). He agreed, but seemed to be confused by the situation. Since then, I've messaged him multiple times asking if he has shipped yet, but I don't get any response.

I'm not trying to attack Paperchasing in any way. His correspondence has been very polite and respectful, and considering that he is one of the top seller's on SR, I trust him fully. I think this is just an honest misunderstanding caused by my own ineptitude. I'd really just like to get it sorted out, but since Paperchasing isn't responding to my PM's, I have no way of resolving the situation other than coming here.

I'm going to try not to be harsh because I know you're knew so please don't take it the wrong way. Vendors like Paperchasing are extremely busy, not only do they have to live their real life but they also have to process dozens (estimating) of orders every week and answer even more messages which is no easy task. Bombarding Paperchasing with messages will likely only irritate him and will not get you anywhere. Give (assuming Paperchasing is a he) him some time to get to you and I'm certain that everything will work out to your and his mutual satisfaction. Ideally, though it's really up to him, he'll send you back your BTC and you'll place an in-escrow order for the product that you want and then everything will go by the book.

Welcome to SR and I hope you enjoy your stay!

PS. never send your identifying information without encrypting it first, Lewis Carroll forbid this site gets compromised and you get a knock on your door.

I can only say that in my one dealing with Paper, he was fast and the packaging was awesome.  From what I've seen from other reviews, it's much the same, the guy concentrates on security and speedy shipping, and I bet he is wicked busy due to the kind words thrown his way.
I wouldn't go out of escrow, but I also wouldn't just blindly send someone BTC, then a PM and expect them to do an out of escrow transaction sight-unseen.  Deal first, pay when the deal is done.  You don't go to the supermarket, go directly to the cash and slap down your money, you gotta shop first.

To be perfectly frank I don't think there is any situation for Paperchasing to resolve. You acknowledge that you didn't read the buyer's guide and opted instead for a really convoluted method without any sort of prior communication which, even if he decides to try and help you with your purchase, will make the process very time consuming for him. Not only will he have to go through pages upon pages of account history to verify that you truly did make a direct deposit into his account, he'll have to find your email with your mailing address to verify that he's sending it to the correct place since having posted your complaint on the forum somebody else could claim that they made that 9 bitcoin deposit and claim product as their own...

I don't blame him for not responding to your messages since he's busy dealing with customers who ordered properly. I suggest that you drop the issue and take the loss of bitcoins as a "learning experience". I know it's not an ideal situation for you to lose ~$27 but honestly what do you expect to happen?

It's amazing how people rally around their favorite vendors on SR... very rare to find that kind of customer loyalty in other biz.  I guess we're just grateful.

Count me as one of them btw... I'm a paperchasing regular, amazing service, very good product, active in the forums, even sold direct when SR was down... would recommend/use again without hesitation...

Even if the order was somewhat convoluted, I am sure that any reasonable vendor will, time permitting, find the direct transfer of 9 BTC and get it back to the purchaser for resubmission as a proper cart type order.

Also, there are security reasons not to accept direct transfers of BTC over SR, and a word to the initiated will suffice.

Buyer - use the shopping cart unless making minor adjustments to an existing order for shipping or such, stick to the accepted procedures.
