SR login screen posts the following warning:
"Before you login, make sure you came here from a trusted link and are at the official Silk Road .onion url and not some password phishing clone. If you suspect you have ever logged in through a phishing site (especially the hidden wiki), you should change your password asap."
If you're at a scam site, then the scammers won't post the warning. If you're at the legit site, then the warning makes no difference because you're not logging into a scam site.
Am I missing something? If so, what is it?

scam sites do post the warning to look legit

Imo it's just there to remind you every time you login to SR so re-check the url :)

That's why it's there.
In order to look legit, a scam site would need to post that warning. Which would only serve to give the site away if the user actually heeds the warning.
