Am I really safe on Tor because Tor uses HTTPS or SSL?
If yes, what about this - http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Security/HTTPS-Cookie-Hijacking-Tool-CookieMonster-Gobbles-Personal-Data/ *Clearnet link*
On that site they say - "Web browsing on SSL sites may not be as secure as you think. Security researcher Mike Perry has released additional details about his CookieMonster tool, which can be used to steal private data via HTTPS cookies. Mike Perry spoke about the issue at the Defcon security conference."
Though to me it seems that even if it were true that there would be ways of defeating this attack right?

HTTPS and SSL are pretty effective protections but you'll never be 100% safe, there always are possible attacks.
