Title: starservice
Post by: jesuspiece on September 19, 2012, 05:14 pm
I ended up placing order thursday, order sat in transit for 3-4 days with no communication. Then, he finally decides to reply with it has been shipped, and he sent extras. It's not Weds, and I still haven't received my order, I'm fucking pissed. I was nice enough to F/E considering that's what he asked for on he seller page, and now I'm left with nothing. He's still not having any incentive to reply to any of my emails / Sr messages. I don't give a fuck if you're swamped or not, when you give angry frustrated customers NO support at all, that's what's going to happen. I don't understand how this dude got so many 5/5, when his communication is honestly the WORST.

Will I be able to get my money back, or when you F/E you're fucked??? Maybe I'll be able to get in contact with him about a refund, but I doubt that. Bout to just send him 10 messages of the same shit, and hope he sees it, because one message a day just isn't cutting it, it seems.

Is this the same issue you were posting about last week?

Had some success with a couple small orders with this guy, so I took a chance and ordered a large order of those candies for a large price.

Ordered on 10/12/2012

10/17/2012 Marked in Transit with the following two messages (which were almost identical, don't know why).

1. "ok got it. Sorry it took so long to ship but I threw in extras for the delay. "
2. "I threw in 10 extras and shipped priority just late. Sorry again. I just hired my gf to help to stop this from happening again. "

I live about 4 hours from where he ships from, so priority takes 2 days max.

10/17/2012 I also see this message posted on his seller page...

"I had to cancel many orders today for the hash candies because I lost over 500 candies the last few days. I will also be turning over the candy business to a soon to be new vendor who is actually the source of the candies. They will be able to process your candy orders from now on in a very quick and professional manner. I will be announcing the vendor taking over in a day or two once they start there account. "

Unfortunately he didn't cancel MY order, because I still haven't received anything and he hasn't responded to any further emails.  Seller page states that he hasn't logged in in 5 days.

Haven't finalized yet, but everyday I have the stress of opening an empty mailbox.

Overall this guy is full of it.

Any chance for me to get my money back?

If you FE'd, your money is gone. Never FE - best case you become a low priority, worst case you get ripped off.
It's not about trust, it's about accountability.

If you didn't FE and the escrow time is almost up and you want to dispute it, then you should do so now before auto-finalize kicks in.

Thanks.  No I didn't FE, the Resolve button doesn't become active until another couple of days.

Can anyone tell me what to expect in the resolution process?

I keep reading things like this on different seller pages..

"If I cannot provide a shipping record proving shipment within 10 business days (M-F) from the item being marked shipped, I will provide a 50% refund or reship."

50% seems pretty unreasonable if someone can't provide an accurate shipping record.

Is 50% really the best possible outcome with Starservice who is totally MIA?

A resolution process can only happen if the buyer did not FE (Finalize Early).
If a vendor can convince you to FE then you effectively forfeit the right the the resolution process. You had best trust him, but how would you if you haven't bought from him before?

The correct answer is don't ever FE.

If you *haven't*  FE'd and your product doesn't arrive within 9 days (I can't remember the exact number of days) then you will receive a PM from the SR admin that asks how you want to proceed. Choices include extending the delivery time, or working out a refund deal - all, some or nothing. This will happen between you and the vendor via PM's.
I suppose if the vendor doesn't answer PM's it will default to your favor and SR admin will award you the BtC's in escrow.

People can, and do, get scammed a lot here. My advise is to order a small amount from a vendor with a good rating and establish a good rapport. Once you have a couple of good transactions the chances of having more stable transactions increases.
Never spend more than you can afford to lose at one time so that if something in the entire process goes wrong (vendor gets busted, mail is intercepted, vendor pulls a 'fast one') then you won't go bananas with rage, but instead chalk it up to a learning experience.

In this case the vendor is saying that if his postal package tracking number shows that the product was NOT received by the buyer, he will either re-ship the product OR offer a 50% refund. This is standard agreement. It is a good deal since you can still get all your BtC's worth with a reship. If you're feeling like it's too much trouble he'll offer a partial refund.

In a dispute handled by the SR's resolution process, the vendor must supply a valid tracking number to SR admin that shows the package was delivered as proof it got there.

Remember, only money left in escrow (NOT FE'd) is open to a dispute resolution process.

I've never been through resolution, but I've read a few threads of those who have. Just some general common sense may help, too.

What matters are your purchasing stats, and if you meet what he says qualifies for a refund. In his case, he claims you need 5 purchases, so having those would help your case. Delivery should have happened, and he claims to use DCN on orders over $100; was your order over that amount? If he cannot produce that DCN...

I think you have a solid case, as you claim to have made other purchases, and he has been MIA and hasn't had a sale in a month. I assume it will default in your favor as he will not be able to respond, if he stays MIA.

Thanks guys.  Yes, I have the 5 transactions on my stats.

I have two successful $50 transactions with this particular seller, who's postmark show's he's shipping from about 4 hours away.

The third and latest transaction with this guy was for $230 unfortunately.

Money is still in escrow.

It won't kill me but damn is it stressful to get ripped off.

Honestly with responses like "I just hired my gf to help to stop this from happening again."    You can really tell the type of person you're dealing with, he's probably 15 years old.

I have a hard time believing I'm the only one in this situation with this seller either.  Hopefully he just stays away and I can collect the escrow in full.

His actual stated policy is as such...

If you have 5 buys or more on SR I offer 100% refund if your package doesn't arrive because it was lost in the mail.
If you have 5 buys or less I offer 50% refund if the package does not show up. I will NOT offer a refund if your DCN# shows it has been delivered.

I guess there's nothing stopping this guy from providing anyone's DCN, or even mailing a shill package to the Starbucks near my house to avoid having to refund?

It's also worrisome that he says my package was shipped one day, and the next day he says he lost 500 units and had to cancel orders but doesn't mention how he "lost' them.

... yup, like I said there are scams in action here - that's why you slowly build trust with a few reputable vendors firs,t and don't spend more than you can afford to lose at any one time.

Having said all that, I believe the vast majority of transactions are legit.

Travelers,

Starservice is a complete tool.  Like another reviewer said he is most likely 15 years old bc he definitely treats his business like that of a child.  He is completely unreliable, and if not for a couple of previous "successful" transactions with him I would think he is a scammer.  My last transactions with him were filled with various instances of poor communication/shipping methods/and a number of "oopsies" on his part.  This time around I sent 3 PM's to him none of which were read.  Then I received one back from him (mine still unread) that states that he had "car problems, but he just asked his gf to help out" and that he put extras in and it was on its way (given the unread status of my messages I assume this was a generic message to those he knew he was going to dick over.  16 days later, I have sent him 3 more PM's all of which also remain "unread" and I moved to resolve for %100 as I have just over 5 successful transactions on SR.  This is all so very sad bc his product is pretty damn awesome.

Beware, he notes on his page that he will be handing edible portion of his business off to another person (the source).  But whats to stop him from simply creating a new vendor profile and continuing business? Nothing.  He's most likely just trying to ditch starservice tag because it has received so much negative attention.  Next time you see this product on the road, beware.  Read the vendor profile, and if it stinks like starservice, you would do well to steer clear.
