Title: Having problems with actually purchasing item, keeps telling me to log out
Post by: Nuggets on December 03, 2012, 01:43 am
Hey Guys,

Trying to make a very small order tonight, and everytime I try to buy it, I enter in the address and my correct pin, select the proper shipping, then when I  checkout, it tells me to log out and log back in, but I have done this twice now, and no dice. Whats up?

Also, when you checkout is that where you encypt you address? Or do you send him a private message with that and your public block?

Update Tor to the latest version.
I had this problem but updating Tor fixed it straight away!

No, most people usually put the PGP key into the address field. :)

Yes , encrypt your address using the vendors public key so it looks somthing like this...

Code: [Select]
-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux)

-----END PGP MESSAGE-----

Then cut and paste the whole thing into the address text box on the order form. Note it says PGP MESSAGE not KEY , you dont need to send the vendor your key.

Thanks!

BTW why doesn't the vendor need my public key when I encrypt my address in the allotted address space?

You can read lots on public key cryptography. But the short answer is that your keypair is not used to encrypt the message to the vendor. In fact you don't even need a key. The public key from the vendor encrypts the message which then can only be decoded with the vendors private key. So he does not need your public key unless he is going to be sending an encrypted message back which is usually not the case.
