Hi all, I'm new here, just registered yesterday so forgive me if this is a dumb question (and remember, there are no such things as dumb questions, only dumb people) - if we place an order via Silk Road, should we still send an encrypted email? I ask because when I placed an order I simply filled in my mailing address and hit send. Isn't this browser suppose to be encrypted anyway?

Encrypting your address is not required, but it is very easy and an important security measure that you should not ignore. It protects you in the event that SR itself is compromised, which could very well happen someday.
Here is link to a tutorial:

And you should also join Pine's PGP club:

Do it, do it, do it.

Thanks Gambino, but the tutorial only shows me how to encrypt and send an email though the GNU app. How do I encrypt and send through the SR purchase window where I enter a mailing address?

You encrypt your message using your encryption App and the vendor's public key, that you are buying from.
Then copy and paste the encrypted message into the address bar on SR.
The vendor will then copy paste your message to their encryption App to decrypt your message ;)

Thanks man, I guess I needed it spelled out.

No worries at all ;)
