I sell cash and am using a fake address as my return address but recently a package was missent and I thought it was going to be sent to the return address and thus lost forever. Losing a $500 letter in the mail would be a major set back so I'm wondering if it's safe to get a PO Box at USPS and use that for the return address in case anything bounces and comes back to the return address.

I don't see why not to be honest because you're right getting cash sent to a fake return address would suck but is it registered under your real name?

Unfortunately I had to use my real name, USPS is more strict than the DMV... Had to provide 2 forms of ID and my Lease agreement for my apartment... There isn't any other PO Box services where I am. I would use a fake business name on the envelope though.
Would look legit to a regular buyer and non suspicious to postal inspection but only problem is if the buyer was LEO they can trace the PO Box to me and my home address within minutes.

If you only sell cash on the your account then its safe.

It's not illegal to send cash via the USPS.
