Title: Obfsproxy and bridge help
Post by: RunningLion on March 15, 2012, 07:39 pm
1) Do I need to edit my torrc on a mac for obfsproxy to work?

2)How should I go about picking my bridge?  It looks like I only have 3 options. (and they all lead to different counties in Europe at this time)

3)How many bridges should I choose?

3)Why does it seem like the obfsproxy version seem to be slower and fail more often than the normal bundle?

4)Wouldn't using a bad bridge on accident be worse than using my normal ISP?

5)Should I be signed out of the mail app that refreshes every 5 min while connected to Tor network?

6)Do I need to change my mac address to "manual" on a mac in order to spoof my mac addy?

Thank You Everyone :)

You will need the following:

UseBridges 1
bridge obfs2 xx.xx.xx.xx:xxxxx
bridge obfs2 yy.yy.yy.yy:yyyyy
(etc.)
ClientTransportPlugin obfs2 exec /usr/local/bin/obfsproxy --managed (or wherever it's located)

2)How should I go about picking my bridge?  It looks like I only have 3 options. (and they all lead to different counties in Europe at this time)

3)How many bridges should I choose?
You only get three options at a time by design. Try picking two or three that run on port 443. If you're not getting new ones you can request a new list through Tor (lol).
6)Do I need to change my mac address to "manual" on a mac in order to spoof my mac addy?
Somebody else posted this, I do not know if it actually works: http://www.feross.org/spoofmac/

Obfsproxy is a nice idea, but its still relatively new and unsafe. Wait a few months until more people implement it and work out the kinks.

Does anyone else agree with this statement?  If I edit my torrc, will it revert to default if I delete and re-download tor?

What is unsafe about it?
