Title: Ubuntu Noob
Post by: HubertCumberdale on August 09, 2013, 03:14 am
I'm still fairly new to Ubuntu - so I apologize for all of the questions. A few things -

When I used windows - I could "include in library" to add my "movies" folder from my external into my "videos" folder in my library/"My Documents" section. How do I do that with Ubuntu? I want it to stay that way, not just temporarily mount it.

Secondly -
I used to use Nero Mediahome Essentials to stream to my LG Bluray player - how do I do that with Ubuntu?

I tried setting up Moovid and a few other apps, but none seem to do the trick properly - any advice?

My bluray player shows "Computer-minidlna" as a selectable device, but there's no content there - just folders that say "Pictures" "Music" and "Video" - any advice?

Thanks,
HC

Why are you using ubuntu? If you want a really good os you should download tails.  tails.boum.org. but it should be in a folder with ur computers name on it, or downloads my brother use's ubuntu shouldn't be that hard :P

Once I figure out this newer ecosystem, I plan to use tails from a USB drive -
First I need to figure this whole thing out, this user-friendly version is difficult enough :p

Same here.
This process could be more enjoyable if it weren't all spam posts.
I'll get there though :)

Tails is nothing like Ubuntu, so it's kind of a waste of time to learn Ubuntu.

I was under the impression that it was very similar to that flavor of linux.
Interesting.

I might have to look into it sooner than later.

I do like Ubuntu though, and I'd love to learn to use it - I'll just get Tails on a USB and do all of my other bidding from there :)

Not really, because Ubuntu uses a completely different interface called Unity, while Tails uses an older interface that looks more like old versions of Windows.

What's the best way to go about saving my PGP key then? Or should I make a new one all the time?
