Title: Tormail?
Post by: Lysergix on July 30, 2013, 02:21 am
Is tormail down right now? Have been trying all day....

I feel like this is a question that would get asked all the time, but couldn't find any recent posts so posted, because this is frustrating....

Yeah it's been fucked for about the past 12 hours. At least it's been pretty stable for about a couple of months until today. I remember when it was down for days on end back in April. Same with SR.

DPR, NSA?

They seem to be legit.

Went from the u.s. to Russia and back again.
At that time tormail was not .org but .net.
Now it is tormail.org again.

They did not wish to comply to the security agency's from the U.S. , went to Russia until there came even more problems.

Typical a site where I should NOT count on the onion encryption alone.
Better be safe then sorry and use even on tormail gpg.

@ T.S. (Topic starter)
There are tools or sites that let you know if the site is down (or is it just me/you)

Back up now.

If Tormail were a government honeypot, SR would have been closed down LONG ago.

Alright I'll be the first to ask....how?

Personally I don't trust them worth a damn, everyone makes money somehow and to host massive email servers is not free.

Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, ect make their money from selling information. Who says they don't either.

Or maybe they get it from the taxpayers if you catch my drift.

I guess you missed a number of the threads here which named many examples of sheer stupidity. Shit like having PGP keys with clearnet email addresses listed, thing in listings and forum postings that can clearly be linked to Facebook and Twitter, people posting their *private* PGP keys here, and so many who never use any encryption whatsoever. Some people NEVER use encryption with Tormail. I shit you not. Because it's, you know, anonymous lol

So believe me, if Tormail were a honeypot quite a few people would've been busted already. Maybe I overstated things by saying SR would have been shut down by now, but you definitely would have read about a lot of busts off of here. With some of the dumb things done all the time, it would be like taking candy from a fucking baby. If it were a honeypot.
