I usually listen to the music I listen to normally while tripping (hardcore/alternative stuff mainly) but I've found that most music sounds pretty weird, not in a good way, while tripping. I don't really get much music enhancement :(
Anyways what music would you guys recommend for tripping? Do you usually listen to the same music you normally do, or do you find that you're into different stuff while tripping?

One word PHISH! This band has changed the way i see music forever! Try pebbles and marbles least that the song im listening to now.
-
Electronic music is always good in those situations. Easy to get lost in the beats.
-
Maybe it's better if someone else chooses the music?

It would depend on the substance imho. For the fungi, earthly music for space - Hawkwind for example. Acid tends to synergise well with Tangerine Dreams more cosmic efforts (they're all cosmic though.) Its a fine balance, but music is a very special addition to a voyage at the right tone and time.

as an avid psychonaut i would recommend SHPONGLE for anything psychedelic and i do mean anything. Younger Brother is also spectacular.
for lsd you cannot go wrong with The Disco Biscuits, but there is some disagreement as to which era of the biscuits are best, early bisco (pre-2006) is more of a combo of trance/rock-jam music while later era bisco is more focused on electronica and has less rock-jamminess, although the electronica is always part-improvised aka jammed. it's all about what you prefer.
Sound Tribe Sector 9 and/or Lotus are less improvised and more composed electronica but still fab and awesome for rave psychedelics.
for mushies, i happen to be particularly partial to Primus, something about their sludgey, leaden tone just makes sense when the world is all gooey.
but honestly, some of the classics are also awesome. Pink Floyd (any album), the Beatles (Revolver onward), The Grateful Dead (pre 1980s), Hendrix, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Allman Brothers (when Dwayne was alive, post Dwayne just doesn't have the right feel), the list is virtually endless.
trip happy my friend.
oh and if you like weird and esoteric music, try Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, or Idiot Flesh - these groups are truly out there and astounding.

Will have to check some of these out. One I just had a nice experience with is The Moody Blues. I listened to the Days of Future Passed. You probably have to like classical music at least a little bit to enjoy it. Some of the lyrics and the way it's almost like multiple songs mixed into one is very interesting. It is very thought provoking with lines like "yesterday's dreams are tomorrow's sighs". There seems to be a series of songs starting with The Day Begins and then traveling through the emotions of a day and then setting with Nights in White Satin.

Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon. That album has been the soundtrack to many of my amazing trips.

That is their most political album -with possibly the exception of the Final Cut (which is a horribly depressing album)
