Title: Escrow hedging and bitcoin price fluctuations
Post by: Hodoresque on August 20, 2013, 01:13 am
How does the hedging on SR work? For example I placed an order for 1 bitcoin, and bitcoin is worth 100 dollars in which I did not finalize early. Those 100 dollars were placed into escrow, if when I receive the item bitcoins value rose 50% would I be credited for 50 dollars worth of bitcoins upon finalizing, and vice versa?

And what if you only had 1 bitcoin on your SR account, you place an order for 1 bitcoin of goods without finalizing early, then the value of bitcoin goes down. Upon finalizing, what happens?

It's simple, what goes in comes out. You're making it too complicated.

You buy a 1btc item and something happens, you get 1btc back regardless of the price.

If you hedge you'll receive the equivalent in BTC to whatever you've sold your wares for in whatever fiat currency you use.
