Title: Post office
Post by: dd60iluv on November 14, 2011, 12:55 am
Hello!
Where I live we have public mailboxes, a building where you get your bills advertises and such, in a small vault. (individual mailbox)
-You have your personal mailbox with a key and all that.
Now we have a post office too, you receive a mail to the mailbox which invites you to take the mail or package from the post office.

My question is, where do I pick up my package? at the post office? or the mailbox?
And if I receive it at the post office, is that safe?

Additional Info
-I have ordered a shirt online and got it delivered to the post office.
I also got mail from the government (from the army) and I got it from the post office.

OK so thx ahead, I am very eager and looking forward my first purchase!

You might want to look back through the posts of "janetreno", a user here who worked for a time as a postal inspector intern.  [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=730 ]  I'd bet that your question may have been discussed in one of those threads.

Either way -- post office or home -- be very wary of a controlled delivery where you're asked to sign for your package.  LE is unlikely to stake out either location for personal use amounts so, unless that's *not* the case, I don't see that it would make much difference.

-I have only this question if any1 can answer it

I gonna probably use my actual living address and name because I can see no other alternative, how safe is that?
and if you work another way, then what is it?

Thank you guys so much, I really want to start with it

In my view, quite safe as long as you're not asked to: 1) sign for delivery, and/or 2) take delivery at the post office desk.  Either of those things could indicate a controlled delivery is about to take place.

To me, it's all about minimizing potential suspicion.  And what's the most common thing that goes into your mailbox nearly every day without incident?  Stuff addressed to your real name or Resident, most likely.  (And parcels addressed to Resident or Occupant aren't at all common.)  The only downside I can think of to using your real name is that it *could* turn up in your seller's records if s/he hasn't practiced good data security and later runs afoul of the law.  That could be of consequence if you're on parole or probation.  (Although your real address will likely be in there, too.)  Also, a fake name could help if your seller is also an identity thief, or has their computer hacked by one.

Practically all the mail I receive that's sent to my address, but with a recipient of different surname, has a big (sometimes red) question mark written on the front.  Clearly, my particular letter carrier notices -- and cares about -- name differences.  (Yours may not.)   So, I have everything sent to my own name as that appears to arouse the least suspicion.  I can always claim ignorance should I be questioned about or asked to sign for a particular item: "Gee, I know I didn't order anything recently.  I'd better not sign or else I might get charged for whatever it is."

Still, I'd guess that roughly one-quarter of the people here use a fake name -- or that of a former occupant -- along with their real address.  Maybe one of them will let you know their reasoning on that.

Also, there's an interesting fake name thread [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=2075 ] going on over in the Shipping forum just now.

Thank you very much crunchy frog! :)
Ive seen the fake name post but now I read it a little further, it solved my fake name problem ;) ty

But, if the mail is not sent to the personal mailbox, I probably gotta pick it up from the post office desk aswell sign it.
-My starting question was, do I gonna receive the mail to the post office or mailbox, I really dont know where I gonna get it, probably just gotta try and see for myself, when Ill figure out how to pay with paypal :X

so, if the letter is indeed get into the post office, all I can do is pick it up from the desk and sign for it. No other way. Not that I know of.

okay, thx again Cfrog

to mean that you have a box at the post office -- a P.O. Box -- in addition to one at home.
