Hello all,
I'm just getting acquainted with GnuPA. I've gotten a few public keys and entered them, but when i go to decrypt the message in the clipboard i get an error message that says "Clipboard contained no valid encrypted data" Any help would be appreciated.

you need a private key to decrypt a message encrypted with a public key.
maybe you do not have the private key required to decrypt the message?

just to clarify :
your friend will encrypt a message to you using YOUR public key. You then use YOUR private key to decrypt said message.
If you wish to communicate something to your friend, you need to encrypt your message using HIS PUBLIC KEY.
he will then use his PRIVATE key to decrypt your message.

hey i really need help here guys. have evrything downloaded and now looked into this subject for some hours but can not figure it out... I am about to throw my laptop against the wall!
So i have kleopatra I made my public key and I copied the key of a vendor via editor into kleopatra.
Now what? Where do I enter my adress into a text box and encrypt it in order to sent the encrypted message to the vendor. Help is very much appreciated. Thanks guys,

not sure about the kleopatria but with GPA ( part of kleopatria) I have a clipboard option which
I would type my message into
hit the encrypt button and your keychain should open
select the vendors public key then hit ok
you will probably get a popup saying that you cannot verify the key owner just hit ok
your message should now be encrypted on the clipboard copy and past
I would also include a copy of your public key if the vendor need to reply to you
-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
message start and end
-----END PGP MESSAGE-----
