Title: Tormail down
Post by: Elwood on May 01, 2013, 04:19 pm
New guy here. Haven't been able to log onto Tormail for some time, but was able to get onto the Road earlier today so that is a positive sign. Just came to say hello to all, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for better times on the network.

I too have experienced the same issues logging in.  To the point where I tried to re-register and that page showed an error.  There must be something up with the Tor side.  I imagine they're on it.

Tor did just release a security update and a new version recently, seems like since then, things went to hell.

TOR mail being down is new's? I am beginning to think it is run by the Feds it's the only thing that could explain how shitty the service is. Before anyone says "It's free quit your bitchin'" STFU already. If you have a service out there free or not you should be able to keep it working if you can't then shut the fucker down.

It's been down all day - again.

I would like to donate to help them upgrade/secure the service but this option isn't available, at least that I can see.

PB.

No, it's not news that Tormail is down, just making my first post. But according to your last statement in the post quoted above, I guess they should shut SR down as well? I'm pretty sure everyone here would disagree.

You know there are two types of "ignorant". You can be just plain uneducated or you can be "willfully ignorant." Which definition do you think fit's you? Do everyone a favor and stop thinking OK? it's obvious your capacity is somewhat limited. Nobody want's to see SR shut down and from what I have read and seen the people who run SR are doing everything they can to keep the site up and running. Unfortunately there are those out there who have nothing better to do than launch attacks against SR and those people need to be dealt with. TOR Mail is not the same game. If they are experiencing attacks then they need to communicate with their members and let them know what's going on. There are a lot of very bright people on the TOR network and just maybe there may be some help available out there that could help TOR Mail get their act together. Just sayin.' One more thing...do yourself a favor and don't cop an attitude with me my first response was not directed at you.

Hey hodunk, read your 2 earlier messages and see who came across with the attitude. Piss off and post your dumbass comments elsewhere.

Tormail has been on and off (mostly off) for the past few days or so. As far as the honeypot theory goes, I don't know if there's much evidence giving credence to it, other than the fact that people don't know who created it. To be honest though, I think a lot of it is paranoia.

I still can't log in to Tormail. Anyone know of a secure alternative email server?

I haven't been able to use Tormail for about a week now, this using the non-script login.

Not much we can do about it though except wait.

Yeah, I use the non-script mode also. There has to be a secure alternative.
