Title: EOI to Australians: Pre-paid SIM cards
Post by: rake on April 03, 2012, 02:17 am
As we all know in Australia there is no such thing as an anonymous mobile number.  All SIM cards must be registered via a 100 point ID check.  Would there be an interest in pre-paid SIMs that have bypassed the security checks?  They would be registered on the Vodafone network.

It's very easy to get an anonymous SIM if you're near a Chinatown area.
So many people in the street, out front of markets etc so desperate to sell those Lebara packs that they'll happy fudge whatever info they have to if it means a sale. When they ask for ID etc, you don't have any, they'll just ask your details 9 times out of 10 and write that down. Make sure you ask them to activate it for you before you hand over any cash and you're set.

For those not near a place like that... I would expect you'd have a lot of buyers as long as you don't price gouge too hard.

Yeah I know that Korean Uni students details were being used to register SIMs with one poor kid having his door busted in by police after a bust once.

I wouldn't need one, but I really want one!
It'd be something that'd be nice to have around.
I don't have any $ though, I'm interested to see where this thread is going.
