Title: Using real name for purchasing bitcoins
Post by: phoniks on August 15, 2013, 12:32 am
I bought some recently, cash deposit in bank, via a website. Got them fine. Now, i haven't made an over the counter deposit in years and the last time i did i needed i.d so i thought i would this time too and used my real name. In fact, i didn't need any i.d at all. Was this a big mistake?

Buying bitcoins isnt illegal, you should be fine. If you are concerned, you can bounce them off of an online wallet before depositing to SR. Takes 2-5 hours.

Unless you're caught ordering a high class amount of drugs like a qp of cocaine, you should be fine.

Even then it wouldn't really matter.

Whichever way I get coins, I tumble them through a wallet just in case. Unless they are purchased from a vendor, and that involves higher fees

Cool, thanks. My concern was that even though it's not illegal to purchase btc i may be using them for, um, questionable purposes.. and i can be identified at the first stage of that process. I might use a tumbler such as bitcoinfog for peace of mind.

I sell btc to friend so i often buy in my own name and transfer to many wallets. I feel comfortable because its not all going to the same place. I would just regularly by my btc even if my little btc service stopped
