Post by: afflicted on July 07, 2013, 09:49 am
Hi,

I am looking to sell on SR, I have a few queries:

I use BT guard and obviously tor, am I safe or do I need pgp keys ? what is tails ? do I need it? As for Bit coins are they traceable? I am based in the UK not sure best place to buy bitcoin, when trying to cash in bitcoins do they go to my uk bank account?

many thanks

afflicted

I'll tell you what I've found out so far, and if I'm all wrong, some Sr. Member is going to correct me.

One of the easiest places to buy if you're in the UK (like me) is https://localbitcoins.com/buy_bitcoins , registration and using the site is as simple as it can be.

You can go for the cash options which are usually cheaper than buying online. I did not fool around, simply ordered the coins via National bank transfer, just had to make a transfer to e.g. a Barclays account, then 5 minutes later I got my coins.

Then you transfer out of your localbitcoins wallet, e.g. to blockchain.info . From there, you should transfer them to Bitcoinfog ( http://fogcore5n3ov3tui.onion/ ) to anonymize your coins, they charge a 1%-3% fee when you deposit (withdrawing is free).

And from Bitcoinfog, you can finally transfer to SR. If you're really paranoid, you can divide the transaction into multiple parts and use multiple SR wallets for each, and of course use more than the initial 6 hours of timespan.

So yes, while buying bitcoins via bank transfer leaves a paper trail, it's absolutely legal and once it goes through the fog, you are good to go.

Of course the above is only for the buying bitcoins part, I don't have any info on selling etc.

pgp is definitely a necessity for selling on here as some buyers will only feel comfortable communicating with encryption

How necessary is it to "wash" your coins through Bitcoinfog? Is it safe to simply transfer them straight into your SR account?

Thanks

I guess you can do that, especially if you bought your coins anonymously.

But an extra level of security never hurts, I think it worths the 3%. Why risk your freedom?

If you are going to vend i would definitely use tails+pgp at the very least.
might even consider using a vpn with tor. or a vm. most people are fine with tails+pgp.

I use a vpn - btguard, not sure what the best protocol to use but im looking into it.  I'm waiting for my 2 usb flash memory sticks and going to look at tails,  so I need pgp and tails ? might open a new account just to be sure, its hard work and a lot to learn , I really want/need to be safe . Don't fancy a stay at her majestys pleasure. I even cover my lens on my laptop - call me paranoid lol

hehehe^^^ also have mine covered up, paranoid= safe
always seems like too much until it was too little and you suddenly have ALOT
of free time...nobody wants that. use a password encrypted usb, install tails with persistant volume
onto usb(plenty of step by step tutorials on here) it already has pgp installed on it. go to a building lobby
and hack someone's wifi of somewhere it cant be connected. handle yo biznaz. alot of people say that
using a vpn in unnecc with tails and could put security holes in your setup. i dont know the details of that
