Title: Bitfloor>BitInstant
Post by: technopium on March 15, 2013, 02:32 am
I tried Bitfloor for the first time about a week ago and have used it twice since.  The money seems to show up in your account INstantly, and without the wait of Bitinstant.  And the employees at BOA seem to be MORE THAN HELPFUL when processing the deposits.  One cute banker even showed me where to put the account number after I screwed it up the first time.
The process of trading and using Bitfloor is so Smoooooooth sailing, that I doubt I will ever return to BitInstant to buy BTC again.  No dirty looks, no comments or questions from the clerks, no double commission, and NO ID.  No foreign currency check....

Granted, the bank does have camera's; but so do Walmart, CVS and 7-11.  Just wanted to give some props to the site and to the MEMBERS OF SR for discussing this place as a great alternative to BI, when they went to shit (and apparently still have not recovered.)

I've been hearing that Bitinstant has been having some troubles lately, but I've used them 3 times in the past 2 months and have had no issues here.

Drive-thru Windows DO NOT have cameras!!  (and yes, you're considered a customer because you're depositing in a customer's account - the bank doesn't know if you don't own that account or not, for all they know you own the account, so yes, you can use the drive-thru windows and YES, you CAN use the business drive-thru window)

As for bitfloor - I have had NO problem with them whatsoever - the most difficult part is converting the $$ to BTC and even that's easy.  I'm actually going to setup bitfloor to direct deposit the BTC into my bank account automatically.

SWEET!!!!

I was a fairly ardent supporter of Bitinstant before the most recent incidents. Switched to Bitfloor, and the first transaction went smoother than every single Bitinstant transaction I have ever had. Within 2 hours of the deposit I had the money in my SR account, and the BoA employees were more than helpful in guiding me through my first ever bank deposit.

You still have your receipt, I assume.  You will have your money sooner than later is my guess!

Next time I'm at the BofA near me I'll be sure to tell the branch manager that their drive-up window must not be "real" because they *do* have cameras.  (Yes, I've looked.)  Sure, the "cameras" could be fake but I'm not about to ask if they are; just assume they're real and act accordingly.  And, to me, there's not much sense in making yourself easier to identify by revealing the license plate number of your car.

no, it used to be possible, but bitinstant no longer has the option of delivering directly to a bitcoin address.

So, what?  You're making a deposit with cash at a bank into an account.  Your name isn't connected to the transaction in any way.  Now, if you go from bitfloor>SR, and LE ever decides they need to go looking for that footage, that's on you.  Don't ever go from cash>BTC service>SR.  But, banks overwrite their video footage just like convenience stores; they just keep the video a little longer before it gets overwritten by new data.  You haven't done anything illegal!

So go buy your drugs.  By the time anyone gets to the part of how you funded your transaction, the video will be gone.  It's also irrelevant.  The elements of the crime of possession do not include how the possessor came by the cash he used to buy what he's charged with possessing.  The elements of the crime of PWISD do not include how the seller came by the money he used to buy the drugs he possessed with intent to sell/distribute.  It's a total non-issue.

They do now.  I did it successfully last Sunday.  Did cash deposit to BTC address and used my SR address.  My BTC showed up within about two hours.  Worked great but the fees suck.  I'm definitely going to try BitFloor out for my next deposit.

BitInstant was down when I was finally ready to get my first set of bitcoins for SilkRoad purchases.  I went away for a week, came back, and tried again and they were still down.. and another.. to which they were down again for 4 days.

I got sick of waiting and the reviews for that weekend's mess were unbelievably horrid, so I went ahead and used BitFloor.

Couldn't be happier.  Bank of America clerks are super friendly, the process was fast, and I only have to tack on about 10% of my SilkRoad purchase amounts for the fees.  Their deposit fees seem to have gone up from my first transaction, but even though the second was more expensive it was even quicker than the first (which was already damn near instant).

I'll continue using them until something goes awry!
