Title: What happens when sent back to return address?
Post by: loppy141 on March 24, 2012, 11:40 pm
Tried searching but surprisingly couldn't find a thread on this. I was just wondering what exactly happens if for one reason or another a package of like a gram of substance is undeliverable and thus sent back to the sender/return address? In the case of SR, don't most vendors use a business/fake address? In that case, doesn't the business owner open it and flip out and contact LE, in which case they look into the address it was being sent to (you) and investigate? Or if the return address itself is fake, doesn't that raise suspicion as well? I'm sure this doesn't happen often, but what do you guys think?

curious about this myself. I figured they would just go to a dead letter office.

If a letter can't be delivered, it will be returned. If it can't be returned, it ends up in a postal workers hand who will try and figure out if he can get it to the receiver or sender. If he can't, it will eventually be destroyed. You're right that at some point LE could become involved if it contains an illegal substance. Especially with non-sealed (only ziplock) powders I expect a shitstorm of LE (remember the Anthrax).

Now, I wouldn't really worry that you will be ID'ed based on who it was send to: if it couldn't be delivered the first time, odds are they're not going to be able to figure out for whom the letter is. But of course there is always a change they will be. Just deny it.

if seller will write on the top of return address : If undelivered lease return, that means he agree to  pay return charges and mail will be returned, otherwise it will be not returned.

returning mail is a big risk and headache for any vendor. not happens so often, though
