Im partial to ruebens. Also sausage and sauerkraut is an unsung hero.
-
do hamburgers count?
-
sure, why not?
-
ok, then i choose hamburgers. on the grill.
-
fish sandwiches don't get enough respect. but you gotta have good tartar. fresh pickles and chips.
-
lox, now there's a perfect food!
-
on the other hand, straight hummus and cheese on toast is pretty damn good. you can add some sprouts and fresh greens, whatever's in season. that's a good all-vegetable sandwich. except the cheese...
-
spam is good too, perhaps?
-
Its a toss up between vegimite and cheese and vegimite and plain smiths chips
-
Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwiches..nom nom nom
-
Got to be chicken breast, red pepper, lettuce and mayo for me!
With a dash of salt too!
-
Fried garlic jumbo (bologna) and onions on cheap white bread with Heinz spicy brown mustard
-
This is a hilarious question for a forum like this but it is definitely the BLT!
-
Depends on my mood.
Sometimes I make my boyfriend fix me a rueben sandwich with sauerkraut made freshly from scratch, sometimes a bacon and grilled buffalo steak with spicy sipping-whisky flavored steak sauce, sometimes I have a hankering for a chicken and ranch sandwich, sometimes a new orleans style chicken poboy, sometimes a salmon and tartar sandwich, it really depends.
My boyfriend makes really good sandwiches. He loves to cook, and I love to eat.
It works out. :D

Peanut butter and Jam inbetween toasted bread, mmmmmm.
-
Great replies!
I recently rediscovered BLTs. They're so simple and are SIMPLY delicious. Same goes for PB and J on toast. I like to add a dash of honey to my PB and J.
The idea of home-made sauerkraut has always interested me. Someday I'm going to have to make some. I was told it's quite easy and costs about 50 cents to make more sauerkraut than I will ever need. I've had the homemade stuff before. It's always crunchier than storebought. I like that.
@airship: You are lucky to be with somebody who likes to cook for you. When I said "Fish sandwich" I was thinking of lighter fish, like cod. I completely forgot about salmon. Mmmmm...salmon.
-
Yeah, BLTs are pretty good.
-
Cold turkey sandwich! Really, the only reason to endure Thanksgiving at all is so we can have cold turkey sandwiches the next day. But there is one thing, and one thing only, which is better than cold turkey sandwich, and that thing is... Cold meatloaf sandwich!
-
Hot bacon on soft white bread ;) mmm
-
rye do you ask?
-

I sure am!

Yes, salmon, especially steamed slowly so it's extremely tender and moist, then eaten very slowly with teacandle-melted butter... mmmm!

This thread reminds me of the Sandwich vs. Burrito war of 2006 in Massachusetts. [[CLEARNET: http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2006/11/06/daily62.html?page=all ]]
Oh God, how I wish a burrito counted as a sandwich, as I would prefer by far a mediocre burrito to an excellent sandwich.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON QUESADIILLAS (also, unfortunately, not sandwiches legally speaking).
But I will accept the court's ruling and count as a sandwich only food between two pieces of bread. The best, without a doubt, is the hamburger sandwich.

Hot bacon on soft white bread ;) mmm
Toasted bacon and cheese with melted butter! It's like a grilled cheese, but with BACON!
-
I prefer me "sandwiched" between the Tulley twins. If you know them, you'll agree.
But a BLT is a close second...
-
sCRambled eggs, sausage and cheese sandwich
-
softshell crab po-boy
-
I wish my tomatoes would ripen so I could make some blt's, sounds delicious right now.
-
I am partial to a fools gold sandwich. Jar of skippy peanut butter, jar of smuckers grape jelly, pound of bacon in between a toasted crusty loaf of bread that has been covered in butter and toasted to a beautiful golden colour.
-
Torta Asada
-
This thread is making me hungry

+1 vote for the BLT!
Whats a rueben sandwich?
Edit: just googled it i feel i've missed out!
-
omg i don't know, there's so many to choose from.
either cheeseburgers with bbq sauce, or some nice curry and rice chucked into a slice of bread with really thick butter.
-
Sam Glad, be careful what you wish for. Home made saurkraut is delicious, but it makes your house/apartment stink for weeks.
-
Sourdough bread, munster (sp?) cheese, grilled, with some fresh cut turkey and homegrown lettuce. Sooo dank
-
didn't think of grilled cheese sammiches. cheese and ham and mustard mayo. fucking delish

You have missed out. It's very good. Some people do variations. From Wikipedia: The Rachel sandwich is a variation on the standard Reuben sandwich, substituting pastrami for the corned beef and coleslaw for the sauerkraut.[6] Other recipes for the Rachel call for turkey instead of corned beef or pastrami.
I can attest to the greatness of these variations as well, but they don't BEAT a rueben.
-
Sam, do you use russian or thousand island dressing?
-
Bacon, fried egg, sausage tomato and onion. ;D
My fucking mouth's watering. :P

Toasted tomato - whole wheat bread, sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper & some garlicky ass mayo. Delicious EVERY time and I've been eating it sine I was a kid! Also amazing with avocado.
-
I just made an eggplant, cheese and baloney sandwich. I know it sounds unusual but it was actually very tasty. Just a touch of steak sauce on the eggplant. Of course you have to put it all under a broiler to really release those flavors.
-
I also enjoy tomato sandwiches. Do you make garlic mayo?
-
I do! Mixing some stinky homegrown chopped garlic in really dresses up your average mayo!
-
BLT...
-
Sam, do you use russian or thousand island dressing?
Thousand Island. Now you know too much. yahappy?
-
Of course you have to put it all under a broiler to really release those flavors.
Style! I'd sub in a milder salami for the bologna.
-
bacon,sausage, egg and cheese hmmmmmmmm

My favorite kind of sandwich is made from bitcoin scam SPAM! Mmmmm...so good, spam.
-
tuna mayo all the way
-
Fried garlic jumbo
-
Today I would like a huge salad instead of a sandwich. One of those 2000 calorie salads with loads of dressing- oil and vinegar, bacon, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs- those little corns- what do you call those things?
-
Sam, do you use russian or thousand island dressing?
Thousand Island. Now you know too much. yahappy?
You fool! Now I know your weakness! All I have to do to defeat you is corner the worlds supply oh Thousand Island dressing. Prepare yourself!
-
t3rdsamich anyone? lol..... I like peanut butter and mayo. mmmmm....
-
On thrifty days, it has to be a meatball parmesan hero. On days where I like to splurge, a shrimp parmesan hero hits the spot.
-
I like a chicken mayo. Maybe with a bit of red onion,
