Title: PGP Keys and Ordering
Post by: Beaches on July 12, 2013, 06:37 pm
When I want to place an order and keep my address secure, people say you can use a PGP key to be more secure. I know how to use them but what I'm trying to determine is if I just paste the PGP encrypted message into the address box on the shopping cart page or is there another way?

Take their PGP key and encrypt a message that they can decrypt, then put that message in the checkout box / shopping cart page.

Right just encrypt it with their public key and paste it into the address box. Usually I put all other details in plain text above the PGP ASCII armor containing the address, such as what product is ordered, if there's product choices I'll put those in plain text, etc. That allows the vendor to easily see the order details without necessarily needing to decrypt the address at that time. Just to allow for flexibility in work processes, like they might pack up the orders and then later create the address labels, etc.
