Title: Tor question
Post by: anon8712 on March 05, 2013, 11:02 am
Probably a dumb question but f it I'm pretty sure we all need posts. Running the tor browser bundle but also doing some surfing on a separate web browser should be safe right? I know that we shouldn't run any type of instant messengers, torrent programs, and to turn off JavaScript. But how about surfing in a separate browser to help with the wait when tor is taking a while to load a page.

For example, right now I'm surfing this forum with tor browser so if I were to open just regular Firefox and let's say check my email or something would that put any of my tor activity at risk?

I wouldn't do it - I don't have a reason not to, just not something I'd do, sounds like it could be a problem.

Might I recommend something like LiberteLinux or Tails to boot from a USB/Disc for all your SR needs, just makes you that bit safer.

Yes I do believe it is safe :) You're using a different browser, Honestly I do the same as you :) Been doing it for four months+ and have had no problems at all :) Tor should hide who you are and what you're looking at :) So chill out and use it! When it finally loads that is! >.<

I run another browser during my TOR session for other things, I don't see it being an issue.

You'll be perfectly fine doing that.... assuming you're on SR on tor and not in your normal browser, haha
