Title: Missent Package (Priority Mail)
Post by: howdoesitwork on April 06, 2013, 04:13 am
So I sent a friend a package in the mail via USPS and on the day it's supposed to be delivered (today) I check the tracking number and it says it's been missent. I looked online to see what this means and I'm pretty sure it's just a sorting error on their part but I wanted to come on here to seek some advice/calm my paranoia. Thanks

Yes, that usually just means USPS fucked up and put it on the wrong truck. Should show up tomorrow.

There is no way of knowing what really happened to the package. I would advise making the receiver aware of the situation. I'm sure the package didn't require a signature, but make sure to tell your receiver that if someone shows up asking him to sign for it, he should refuse the package. Always assume the worst.

Update:
The package has now been processed through two additional sort facilities since it was missent and is now only about 40 miles from it's where it's supposed to be delivered. I'm staying hopeful at this point.
