I realize that this topic has probably been asked before (if not beaten to death), so my apologies if this is a stale question. I've been away for a week and just learned about the new '50' rule...
How many other members have been here for a while (a few months or more) but only post only when they have something of substance to add? I've been on SR around 7 or 8 months and this came as a shock when I tried to write up a review last night for a vendor that went above and beyond for me.
I know there are legitimate reasons for the new rule, so I'll play (like I have a choice). I wouldn't even mind if Tor isn't slow as molasses, but it's a necessary evil for the security. And I'll take that tradeoff any day. So it looks like I'll be talkative (typeative?) for a little while.
For all of the newbies: welcome aboard! :) Use PGP and do your research on EVERYTING - anonymous ways of buying bitcoins, delivery options, booting from a thumb drive (not crucial but there are plenty of ways to further protect yourself), etc. It will pay off in spades, the most important of which is keeping you safe.
For all of you scammers: go fuck yourselves.
-
I can understand how you feel since the same happened to me!
I think that it would still be worth reporting that scam in the Newbie Section, there's quite a high chance that it will be read and word will spread about it.
I wish you the best of luck with any other order you might do on SR

YES!
been here for 6 months, but haven't posted on the forums. browsing as a guest was good enough for me. i decided i wanna review a couple vendors, and now i have to go spammin' my way to 50...
-
and as for your tips for newbies, they can't be stressed enough. i keep hearing from vendors that even long time members (1yr+) usually don't use PGP.
-
While not a long-time member, I share your frustration in how stupid a 50 post requirement is.
-
Good luck to you, Lonelystranger!

I've seen the same thing and it blows my mind, King. Without saying too much I'll admit that I have a leg up in regards to tech-related knowledge, but for anyone that wants to play this game they HAVE to know the rules. This isn't a 7-11 where you grab and go. It's not only dangerous for the member but for the community as a whole.

do we need to use PGP for forum posts? thx in a advance for the knowledge

That's my issue - I only post to review or to add something of value to an interesting conversation. Not to mention that interacting heavily in forums becomes addictive, and if I'm going to be addicted to anything it sure as hell isn't going to be this.

PGP (encryption), in general, should be used for sensitive information. Such as when you send your address during the order process, for example. That way if SR became compromised the only person that could see your shipping address would be your vendor (they delete your address upon shipping, but it also helps to become friendly with your vendor as well). I'll occasionally encrypt messages to vendors in SR if it contains sensitive info, such as anything that could even roughly pinpoint the area I live or personal details about myself.

Thestral1 thanks for the tips!
-
Yea I agree I only post when I have my first interaction with a vendor and when I have a successfull delivery. No need to get chit chatty just be to the point.
anyway to everyone involved. PLEASE understand cash laws in your country and how much total (not per but total in 30 days) is a safe limit for you to not to exceed per month.
Easiest way to get busted is sending to much cash at once be patient! plan ahead
-
I'm doing my research on everything! All this is way too new to me.
-
How about a vendor to share some of that pain?
Feeling better already? :P

Sorry, I got in a spammy mood. I do have a legit question, though.
How do I get one bitcoin quickly? I have nothing of substance to ass except my paypal account and some OC nudes of my ex that hasn;t been posted on the internet before.
Seriously, if someone wants the nudes I'll be more than willing to pack them up in a zip, pics and vids and all, and send them to you for 1.00 BTC.
-
It takes FOREVER because of how slow TOR is and having to prove I'm not a computer.

i'd suggest not being a dick and selling pics of your ex which will end up all over the internet. it could ruin her/his career or entire life. just for a measly bitcoin you fiending little scumbag. just go out and suck dick for $20 and you're sorted.

What kind of lowlife are you?
Willing to exploit the trust your GF once put in you when you were in love, shame on you.
I hope you will get scammed for the BTC you want to earn on the arse of your exGF

I feel for you to! I had a forum account with over 100 posts but had to give it up along with my main site account as I got fucked over by a pair of vendors and they made me out to be the scammer, when I was the one being scammed! oh well, a fresh start!

Thestral1, you're hard to catch. You dont come in here much. I'll talk to you later but you probably won't read this so I won't actually write anything on it.

I feel your pain! Been using SR and the Forum just to lurk and get info. for a couple of months now. Right when I wanted to post, learned about this 50 post rule. Boooooo!
-
Yes! I have a drug question that I really, really want to ask on the drug safety discussion, but now I have chug through my mandatory 50 posts before I can ask it. And, so, I did post my drug question in the noob forum, but it got maybe 2 views and no replies, because it's the wrong forum for that kind of post, and because the people who post here are just try to quick-post their way into a higher status. So, I guess I feel your pain, but I'm not a Non-Newbie... yet.

I don't realize it were serious. Sorry.
You're right, it does seem kind of sad. I'm just saying what resources I have, though lissting nudes was definitely a mistake.
I've just been trying to acquire a bitcoin and I've already been scammed. I feel anxious and I just want to get the whole thing over with and get just one damned bitcoin.
And yes, I did try to do my research.

Veta,
Some people are going to give me grief over this advice, but I think I know where you're coming from getting dollars turned into BitCoins is a pain in the ass when you're just starting out. I'm at the 2-week mark, and I am *almost* to the point where I can do a Dwolla exchange directly into a Mt. Gox account.
In the meantime, I've placed 6 orders by funding my BC address using bitinstant.com. The downside is that it costs about $8 in fees per transfer. The upside is that it's quick - you take the money to freaking Wal-Mart (or one of many other places), do a money transfer, and the address is funded within the hour. After that, it takes between 2 and 4 hours for SR to catch up. If it hadn't been for bitinstant, I would still be sitting around waiting for accounts to verify and clear.

I come in here more than one would think, I just don't post a lot. I'm also careful about spending too much time on Tor. But you caught me! Now I'm intrigued to hear what you wanted to say...

Ouch, I know that has to hurt. I know a couple of vendors who are (were) in the same predicament and they weren't happy. Oh well, 50 isn't that bad. Of course it's easy for me to say since I just made my quota. You'll be there in no time.

yes yes

You are certainly not the only one this has affected. Been on here a couple years and cant post to the threads I need to.
