Hi,
Lets say I opened a PO Box in my name and had something shipped there. If that package was intercepted the police could get my details from the Post office and therefore get my address. So is there any point having the PO Box?
For a personal amount what are the chances that police would they just come knocking on the door?
Obviously a fake ID and opening a fake PO Box is a good idea until you get caught and then you have some serious charges against you.
Would they keep watch on the PO Box and after several packages arriving be able to get a warrant?
I know there has already been similar threads regarding PO boxes and delivery but this is just for Australia.

fellow Aussie, done a lot of reading on the subject, made some orders, not received yet but early days
there is no benefit that i can see to a PO box in your own real name
as for opening one in a fake name, pretty sure you need 100 'points' of id, thats more then 2 of the harder ones to fake, unless you have some connection to a professional forger i wouldnt go down that road, not to mention the false id charges and fraud/mail fraud etc. would be more serious then personal amounts drugs if things went bad
the chance of getting caught seems to be 100% about how well its packaged unless your using a retarded fake name or redlighting yourself in some other way
the best way for small amounts (under 1g) in my opinion is to find a seller with a superb reputation and more then 50 transactions who says they seal or double seal their product, if your planning to order VERY infrequently maybe use a fake name but if you might be getting something every few weeks or less postmen notice names different to normal. also if you live with anybody else they may open it if its not addressed to you
a better way would be if you have access to an address that is in no way linked to you but keep in mind postman may notice if somewhere that never gets mail suddenly starts getting international packages
personally ive picked v small amounts of products that could be sent in an envelope (powders) used my own name and address and rolled the dice, procuring drugs always has risk
with the amounts ive ordered id have to be really unlucky to even see the inside of a courtroom, do your reading, under 0.75g of most powders is the lowest bracket and even if found will most likely result in a warning letter, most sellers will do a slightly smaller amount for you, if you want to minimize your risk.
remember if worst comes to worst, deny any knowledge of the letter/package and deny requesting it and dont admit to anything unless yourve talked to a lawyer and really thought about it.

What about opening two PO boxes in a post office with no cameras. One under your real name and one under a fake name. Then go pick your usual mail to scout anything fishy and if you feel safe then after a few weeks check both PO boxes. That would annoy LEO trying to catch you. Especially if you go pick up at random times or have no timetable whatsoever.

Australian Police, state or federal do not need to do a controlled delivery like in the US.

Rake, that is interesting, why do they not need to do a controlled delivery in Aus?
I've been looking into making some orders, fake name on a PO seems like a really poor idea. As does other easy routes like a work address, home address, vacant property etc.
My plan goes like this, I live in a block of apartments. A lot of small blocks get their mail boxes in pre-made blocks of ten or twelve boxes or whatever. In my block this happens to leave one without a matching apartment. If your place has a box like this it probably collects a bunch of junk mail and maybe incorrectly addressed mail as well.
Gain access to this box (you will need to get creative to get access) and give it a number that makes sense but isn't actually an apartment in your block. Make an inobvious sign with the number and a small label that says something like 'MGR' or 'Strata'.
Now start sending mail to the box, real estate agent flyers makes good non-suspicious material for this. Use different addresses to see what gets through and what doesn't. Try the address without a unit # and 'Manager' or 'proprietor' in place of a name. Maybe even give the manager a fake name. The point is to train your mail carrier to use this box for a variety of addresses that do not specify a particular unit in the block. But you also have to make sure not to make the carrier or other tenants suspicious.
Now you have an address to use, unattached to you. You are still vulnerable to a controlled delivery but I can't think of any reasonable way around that.

zZzZzZ - The problem I see with your scenario is that if your package is detected and for whatever reason LE are watching you will then have to explain why you are taking mail from a mailbox that isn't your own.
What I originally wanted to know (although badly worded) is if you have a PO Box in your name for and something contraband happened to be delivered into your box is that enough evidence or probable cause for a warrant on your home address?
My understanding is that a judge needs to sign a warrant. Would a judge sign a search warrant for something delivered to a PO Box under a different name to the person that rented the PO Box?

Here is a smarter way of using a P.O. box: most PO boxes, if not all will occasionally get mail for people who owned the box prior to you. When you have something shipped have it addressed to a previous owner. When it arrives, take it out, leave it unopened (this step is essential!!!) and hold on to it for a few days UNOPENED. Correct me if I am wrong but at this stage you have not done anything illegal, as you have simply collected mail addressed to your PO box for a previous owner. Open the mail only when you feel safe, away from your home address a few days later. I know of people who have done this and it has worked fine. Any person can mail any item to anyone, but you cannot be charged for possession unless they can prove knowledge of the contents or bust you with an open letter.

I've heard of people getting mail sent in someone else name to an address such as a vacant house, or other property where owners may not check there mail for a number of days at a time. If risking importation of scheduled substances then this is probably the best way to go imo. It wouldn't be difficult for LE to get permission to raid your house if mail to a po box in your name was intercepted.
I think Monty's idea is safer approach to using po box, if your names not on it and theres no money or on-line trail then it will be hard to get a conviction. However, would the post office not screen for mail not in the po box owners name and return to sender?

Nope!
