The first step is importing your key. It may have been imported automatically when you generated it. If not, copy and paste the entire thing into a text file, highlight it all, right click, go down to 'Services', and select 'Import Key'.
Now open a new text file and paste the encrypted message. Highlight your message, right click, go down to services, and select 'decrypt'. The program should then ask you to choose a private key to decrypt with. Choose your imported private key and click "Ok" or "decrypt" or whatever. It will ask you for your password. You have already set this when you generated the key. Once you put in your plassword and hit "OK" or whatever, the jumble of letters will turn into a message.
Check out the PGP club if you need some practice decrypting messages. I'm sure someone there will be more than happy to practice with you.

i recommend gpg4usb instead of gpg4win- it is better and easier to use
on thier mainsite is a tutorial that explains step by step how to use it properly then practice on the gpg threads

I'd recommend the version of PGP which comes with Tails.

IMO the gpg that is installed on TAILS is inferior to gpg4usb- but whatever works for you
