A buyer messaged me, seemingly interested in my product, and then he/she asked "exactly" how I would package it, and what sized box I would send it in. This seems suspicious to me. I feel like anyone who was legit would know not to ask something like that - sellers don't want packaging specifics to be widely known.
Should I just ignore this guy?
-
While there's always the possibility that you're working with LE, but he may just want to know what to expect.
-
It could Very possibly be innocent, but then again? I wouldn't ignore it probably better to give a reallllllly broad desciption, like look for an envelope lol....
-
Most vendors don't supply detailed descriptions of how they package their product and they usually ask that the buyer not disseminate that information after they receive the package.
It's OK to ask if the vendor vac seals and uses a computer to address the envelope or labels, but not detailed information such as the size of the box/envelope or anything else that might help LE identify the package.
If a buyer asks, just let him know you prefer to not give out that information but that you are willing to tell them you use vacuum sealing and you disguise your product properly.
Tell the buyer to ask in the forums for a thumbs up/thumbs down from someone else who has purchased from you if they want to increase their comfort level before they order.
If they continue to push for full details, I personally would suggest they go somewhere else for their purchase.

Completely agree - if a buyer pushes for package details, refund the btc and walk away.
The one reason I can think of that I might ask for some details about the package is to make sure it fits in my (smallish) drop box, so I don't have to go up to the counter and ask + sign for it.
So my then my question to you would be something like: "Will your package fit in a small box so I don't have to get it from the clerk?"
If they're asking a more detailed question then that, just walk away. Live to fight another day.

What he said.... I did actually ask a vendor this once, but I recognized it could put them on high alert and let them know I had a PO box that was smallish, the other time was to a third party address where we had to check it daily we just wanted a rough window to check the mail. If they demanded specifics I'd walk away too.

I would ignore him and not ship.

Very suspicious. There has been a lot of unwanted activity lately. I would politely refuse anymore contact w/that person and move on. If they continue to press the issue, have them release escrow early and keep LE's btc. YOINK! It's about time someone gets over on them, hahahah.

I'd probably just guess a nervous newcomer...education on here is a two way street, and a lot of new people just need to learn this is different from any other forum. We can't trust anybody too much, can't 'make friends' and all that. Any questions like that, I'd probably just warn him once, in a friendly way, that asking for information such as this is a no no, from either side...less is more...
But again, I've been guilty of overreacting, when someone was just trying to ask me questions....they just have to learn that our strength on here lies in how *little* we really know about each other, not how much...

Someone sent me a message recently about my packaging, too. I forget their name, but after asking about my packaging they DID end up placing an order, so.. idk..
