A 20-year-old Gainesville man who jumped through a window after eating psilocybin mushrooms was found naked and bleeding early Saturday morning near the Chipotle on University Avenue.
After ingesting the drug, Nicholas Koster stripped down naked, jumped through a first floor window and then ran from his friends’ apartment at 111 NW 15th Terrace after they called 911, said Gainesville Police Department spokesman Officer Ben Tobias in an email.
Police officers found Koster on the west side of Chipotle at about 4 a.m., Tobias said. Koster’s back was cut from the broken window. Police did not arrest him.
People who take psilocybin mushrooms often experience psychological effects, said Alfred Aleguas, a police officer and managing director for the Florida Poison Information Center, but physical injury can occur. He said people who purchase the drugs illicitly do not know how strong the drugs can be.
“These are dangerous substances,” he said. “Those who take them should be locked up behind bars to protect the community.”

Crazy person does crazy things. Media blames it on drugs they know nothing about and didn't research for the article.
"It's almost like the whole bath salts thing. "Super LSD" some outlets called it. Scary stuff. What's even scarier is that "Super LSD" turned out to be some sort of newfangled drug called 'ethanol' known for causing violent and erratic behavior." an average media-consumer zombie stated.
Media experts and industry insiders agree that once the truth comes out on this story, it won't be reported and will only be found in a small minority of books to be published in 1-3 years.
"it's almost like we don't even use primary sources or interview the primary subjects of our reports anymore" said one reporter. "if we did that, someone else would scoop us with an even better news report he made the fuck up"

love how nudity always comes into being too fucked up.. almost a given.

I dont think this is too surprising, if you take them when in a bad head space or take too much on a first time, you will do crazy shit. I tried to stab myself with a butter knife on my first time :/ crazy person does crazy things. I'm impressed they didn't arrest him. That last guy clearly wanted to.

Bill Hick's monologues about this sort of thing on LSD come slamming back to mind. :-)

+1 ;D
Do drugs long enough and everyone ends up knowing, or being, the crazy guy who jumped through a window. I know two.

Why? I'm just curious because even when on shrooms whatever i did had a reason. I never did something that i didn't have a reason really, like did you think there was an evil inside of you and you were trying to kill it? Did you realize how fucked up life can be and decide you didn't wanna be in it?
Ive tripped many times and have done stupid stuff but there was always a reason, even if the reason was fucked up haha.
and sounds like he had some mush laced with PCP or something haha (only partially kidding)

anyone who thinks this 'can't happen' with mushrooms (or LSD), hasn't had what i can only describe as a trip to hell. There are 'bad trips', and then there is the infinite time loop Hell trip where the same moment repeats itself forever and ever and the only escape is suicide. I've had two of those trips. I didn't try killing myself only because I thought I was already dead, but I can imagine other people attempting suicide if they had the same experience.
Trips like this literally last for years upon years of subjective time. So it is quite natural to assume that it will never end.

While I understand how intensely awful a bad trip can be, man, that's a fucking hilarious thread title.

Ill disagree, I have tripped a LOT on mushrooms. Every weekend for over a year with trips L2-L5. Even had flashbacks, or as I referred to them as, "Free trips"
Ill admit that when I trip I end up without clothing, it seems to be a common theme with mushrooms. However, I NEVER jumped out a window. Even on bad trips. I have never seen anyone get angry on mushrooms, break stuff, or do anything like the story says and I have tripped with a bunch of different people.
Maybe they were laced with something but I can tell you from my experience the story is way outside the norm for a mushroom trip.

The only reason you "disagree" is because you've only had generic "bad trips", not specifically the Timeloop hell trip that I am talking about. Not everyone gets the Hell trip. Back when I did drugs, I took LSD every weekend for 2 years, as well as mushrooms, and I had the Timeloop trip only twice. It's the same thing repeating itself foreever and ever. The trip lasts years in your mind. The only escape seems like death, unless you think you are already dead. I thought I was dead and in hell, so suicide would have been pointless.
I've never jumped out of a window either. But I can see it happening if you get the Timeloop hell trip.
It's a very specific Trip that most people never experience on psychedelics.
And it only happens in HIGH DOSAGES.
People who tried to kill themselves on mushrooms or LSD were probably getting timeloops.

That is where you are wrong, I have had time loop trips. I have had trips where reality shattered before my eyes and left me floating in a black void for what seemed like a lifetime. I have had bad trips where pumpkin orange faces were coming out of the walls.
I even had an accidental trip where I thought I was eating 2x 1g chocolates and turned out they were 2x 4g chocolates. That one led to a deep trip and the death of ID.
Maybe it was that I understood Yoda's answer in Return of the Jedi when Luke asks "What's in there?" and Yoda reply's "Only what you take with you." ;D
Ill add that this feels like a flash back to the old Diane Linkletter LSD story.

Surprised no one has made a Bill Hicks reference yet lol "Always that same LSD story, you've all seen it. 'Young man on acid, thought he could fly, jumped out of a building. What a tragedy.' What a dick! Fuck him, he’s an idiot. If he thought he could fly, why didn’t he take off on the ground first? Check it out. You don’t see ducks lined up to catch elevators to fly south—they fly from the ground, ya moron, quit ruining it for everybody. He’s a moron, he’s dead—good, we lost a moron, fuckin’ celebrate. Wow, I just felt the world get lighter. We lost a moron! I don’t mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am, so that’s the way it comes out. Professional help is being sought. How about a positive LSD story? Wouldn't that be news-worthy, just the once? To base your decision on information rather than scare tactics and superstition and lies? I think it would be news-worthy. 'Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves' . . . 'Here's Tom with the weather.”

Oh the irony in that last sentence: “These are dangerous substances,” he said. “Those who take them should be locked up behind bars to protect the community.”
Protect the community of what exactly? When was the last time you got robbed or stabbed by someone on Shrooms or LSD? My guess is that they are protecting the community from starting to think outside the box and starting to reject the nanny police state most of us live in...

Sad to hear this, not the first time either. But you only have to count the fights you see every night in towns and city's caused by alcohol to know which causes more harm and suffering.

Yes I've experienced the timeloop Hell trip. I tried to throw myself off a bridge. Luckily my friends saved me. I don't remember any of it. I was in an entirely different place alltogether.

What I want to know is why he was tripping with people that would call the police on him. He probably freaked out when they were calling 911 and took off the fastest way he could find.
I only ever trip with people I can trust around. What kind of moron trips with people who will call 911 on them.
Just saying.

Funny how the above description of seemingly eternal time loop could just well be a description of life itself.
Whenever I ingest mushrooms... after I jump through the window I like to use the broken shards of glass to peel myself like an orange ;D

I have been there more than once or twice, & when I was there it wasn't fun, but.....
Perhaps the eternal time loop, negative thought, mantra effect is a result of an inability / resistance to completely letting go of the ego, & with it, your "normal" concept of time. Naturally, a minute can seem as if all time has slowed to a crawl, & all of eternity condensed into a single endless second.
Making it through those "hard times" has made me forever grateful for what I was shown during said "hard times".
