Title: What is ฿?
Post by: MrDrudge on July 14, 2012, 08:17 pm
This will sound incredibly stupid to a lot of you, but seeing as this is supposedly anonymous, I am relatively safe from ridicule.

Does the sign ฿ means bitcoin? So, if hypothetically, I were to buy Salvia, and the price was ฿4.13, does that mean if I have 10 bitcoins in my wallet, then after I have paid I will have 6.87 bitcoins left?

I apologize, 6.87 should be 5.87.

It is also the symbol of the thai currency bhat, but in this context it symbolizes bitcoin as mentioned previously

Let me rephrase my self, yes you`re right however it is not the real symbol. The baht has one line through it while the bitcoin has 2 lines through it. Here you can see the commonly used 'bitcoin accepted here' banner:

While typing you have to create a new character on your keyboard to type that, so most just resort to using the baht symbol. Otherwise it always has 2 line through it.
