Ok, now that the circus show is over and there is a verdict, what are the thoughts?
-
Bullshit >:(
-
The jury did the right thing. Zimmerman was clearly acting in self-defense when he shot Martin.
It should never have been brought to trial to begin wtih. This entire thing was primed by the media trying to frame the trayvon killing as being something like a KKK lynching.
-
I think i understand finding him not guilty for murder but i was shocked that he wasnt atleast found guilty of manslaughter.
-
He should have got the chair IMO, did Trayvon get a trial? Did he get to see his family and say goodbye , and tell his side of the story?...
The racial issues people are bringing up seem unnecessary.
Anyway I would have found him guilty.
Zimmerman was the armed one and much bigger and older than the teenager.

Libtard faggotry? In my Silk Road?
Trayvon was 6'3 and Zim 5'7. Zimmerman is a pudgy Hispanic and Trayvon was a lot younger, taller and fitter. They found that lock picking set in the bushes and Zimmerman was right about Trayvon being up to no good.
Zimmerman is a good guy and he was looking out for his community. The case should never have gone to trial.
-
So why is so quick to not notice Zimmerman's extreme Hispanic-ness? Because black people know only too well that when you flash-mob Hispanics, they'll kill you right back - that ghetto-hoodrat act don't even faze your typical cucaracha, who's got even less love for boolies than Egyptian cab drivers. And chimping-out is supposed to be fun - shootin' white fish in a barrel, most too terrified even to hit back.
Hispanics know what white Southerners used to know - show a negro some backbone and he runs....that's why the only mentions of Zimmerman's ethnicity you'll read will mostly be in sidebars you'll hopefully ignore.

Those are interesting facts i didnt know, to be honest i didnt follow the case much only knew the main details.
I still think trayvons death wasnt necessary, a wound from a gun could have prevented the murder which would have prevented all this drama and hype.

I'll agree with you on race being brought up as unnecessary, and I believe it probably led to the jury acquitting because of not wanting to seem swayed. I believe the jury consisted of 6 Caucasian women and one man of Hispanic or African descent as well, not really a balanced jury IMO. The race factor was inevitable in this case but I still can't get over how insensitive we as human beings have become. This man took a life, another human life, a child at that, have we lost all respect for life period?
This is also another example of how botched the justice system really is. If this case was reversed and the child was the defendant, there would be a process to determine whether to try the child as an adult, however an adult can kill a child and there is no special consideration given as to the severity of the punishment or how the trial will proceed. Its just off kilter to me.

If Zimmerman had just stayed in his car like the 911 operator instructed him to do then none of this would have happened.

The verdict means, you can follow someone and act like a goddamn vigilante, and when said someone feels threatened, starts to kick your ass, and your vigilantism back fires on you, you can fucking kill them. This society is fucked.

...and meanwhile a black woman in Florida is going to jail for 20 years after firing off a warning shot . Her husband apparently was threatening her when she fired a round into the wall. Using the stand your ground defense, passing up pleas for lesser charges. 20 years and no one was hurt.
fuck Zimmerman. I hope they lynch his ass in the streets.
poor TM.
-
My understanding is: Zimmerman was doing his neighbourhood watch thing in a gated community, sees a guy who he deems suspicious, confronts him. Martin comes back a few minutes later and starts kicking the shit out of Zimmerman, who then shoots the Martin dead.
I'd call that manslaughter. I have no idea how it's been painted as some kind of cold blooding racist killing in the media.
Surely this is the exact scenario that people use to justify the right to bare arms?

You're an idiot. When a man is being attacked by a thug he shouldn't take the time to frisk the thug and assess whether he's planning on dealing a killing blow, he should just end the fight as quickly as possible in any way possible. Zimmerman probably couldn't have overpowered Trayvon, since he was below him and out of shape, so he used his weapon.
Moron libtards like you, who have never been in any kind of conflict worse than some passive aggressive crap with their coworkers, like to think that fighting is like a movie or something where a guy can run through a million contingencies in his head and then decide what course of action to take. It doesn't work like that, you fucking moron.

The only thing "shocking" here is how totally clueless you are.
If you assault people on a whim, knock them down and begin beating their head into the concrete you're likely to be shot or stabbed.
Had this been and altercation between two people of the same race or had the racial roles been reversed, it would have been a two sentence blip on page 7 of the Sanford Herald crime blotter.

Trayvon "took matters into his own hands" by assaulting Zimmerman. You can't punch someone in the mouth and start bouncing his head into concrete for "following you".
Get your head out of your ass, man.
Some thug who thought he was a tough guy , brought up with tails of slavery and racism, caused this mess.
-

Let us imagine a slightly different scenario for a moment. Suppose Trayvon popped out of the bushes and punched Zim in the mouth, knocked him down and left it at that?
The cops would have probably arrived and taken statements and Trayvon would have walked in all probability. But being the impulsive little hateful thug that he was, that was not good enough. Gotta beat the "white boy's" head into the pavement....lol
Therein lies the moral of the story.
-
If Zimmerman had just stayed in his car like the 911 operator instructed him to do then none of this would have happened.
This.
1) Zimmerman was not instructed to stay in his car.
2) 911 operators have to say that for liability reasons. A guy could be raping your wife right in front of your eyes and threatening to kill her and 911 operators will still tell you to wait calmly for police to arrive.
3) it's not against the law to follow a suspicious person. The 911 non-emergency line operator is not an officer of the law and even if they were it's not the obligation of a resident of FL to obey them... in other words, it's not against the law to follow someone.
4) You can't punch someone in the face and beat their head into the concrete just because they are following you.
This society is fucked.
American society is fucked up but this verdict is not an indication of that. If anything this verdict is indication that there is still some hope in this country and its people.
The race factor was inevitable in this case but I still can't get over how insensitive we as human beings have become.
No... it was the prosecutions failure to convince the jury of guilt that swayed the jury.
The race factor was inevitable in this case but I still can't get over how insensitive Americans have become.
Let me bang your head on concrete a few times and let's see how "sensitive" you are.
This man took a life, another human life, a child at that, have we lost all respect for life period?
Self defense. Trayvon was not a child, dumbshit.
You really didn't follow this much did you? You write like a juvenile.
The media relies on people like you to bolster their ratings and have them believe that the dumb reporters really know the facts of the case.
-
The verdict means you can follow someone and act like a vigilante, and when said someone feels threatened, starts to kick your ass, and your vigilantism back fires on you, you can kill them.
No, what this verdict actually says is that if you merely approach someone on a public street (which is all Zimmerman actually did), and that person thinks they are entitled to feloniously assault someone in response for merely approaching them, then the victim of that felonious assault still gets to engage in lawful self-defense.
Zimmerman showed great restraint in not ventilating that worthless thug as soon as he started throwing blows.

That was Zimmermans story, not necessarily what really happened.

All the evidence supports Zimmerman's story. Broken nose, cuts and scrapes on the back of his head, the witnesses, etc., etc.
You see, if you assault people on a whim, knock them down and begin beating their head into the concrete, you're likely to be shot or stabbed.

We should quit pretending as if people like SealTeam6 are arguing in good faith.
These people think that blacks have a "civil right" to commit any act of violence, robbery, rape and murder against white people with impunity, and they want any act of self defense and standing up for yourself to be strictly illegal.
That's what this whole trial boiled down to.
Both the Prosecution and Trayvon's family and friends know damn well that he jumped Zimmerman and was most likely casing the area for a burglary, they know that Zimmerman shot him in self-defense -- they just consider the facts of the case are utterly irrelevant.
-
"Casing the place for a burglary" LOL come on man you really believe that? I agree with the verdict and I also agree that Martin was wrong in his decision to fight Z which is what ultimately caused his death..But I don't think the guy was casing the area lol! He was a black dude walking home and didn't like the fact that some strange guy was harassing him. So he did what society tells a young black dude to do, act gangsta and whoop that ass . When I say that I mean I believe black culture is as much to blame in his death than he and Z are. The music, the tv, and everything else has black people thinkin they must be hard and gangsta for some reason. Its all macho shit. And its all wrong. Pretty sad. The black community needs to address the problems with this type of mentality that so many seem to have. That is the root to many many black problems imo.. And no Im not black, just no many and have dealed with so many my whole life.

Florida has the worst justice system... First Casey Anthony and now this... Shit, I guess if I plan on murdering someone I should move to Florida as I would have a pretty high chance of getting off. Sheesh, if it happened in my state they both would have already been executed...
Stand your ground my ass

Joywind -pull that thong out ur ass.. haha -why go through life in fear of black people? your little mind display a very feeble understanding of anything based on actual reality. You need to get out the house more, mingle a bit. Your perspective is tiny and closed in - a bit pathetic -but your emotional outbursts is laughable because it magnifies your true pathetic character.
I hate getting racial but the situation calls for it. I got black friends that look like trayvon. It was a bullshit trail; and a even bigger media psyop(organic or inorganic -don't matter) campaign used to instill fear and create conflict to keep society divided and in perpetual conflict. the outcome was decided by 6 white female(peers ::)) jurors who would likely shit themselves in the day time if they seen trayvon -trayvon might have been a punk, but i doubt a hardcore thug.
If your about to break into a house your not going to pursue someone who may be watching you, and you won't go breaking and entering while on the phone with a bag of skittles and ice tea. -was there evidence of him with a lock pick set ON HIM? i don't think so. Trayvon was about 70 yards away from his house on his way home, he wanted to watch the all star game which started at 730, he was killed at 730(exactly at 730). We all know how much black men love basketball, nba all star weekend is like a holiday for them. I think trayvon was out smoking a blunt away from his dad and family -he wanted to get high then watch the game.
fact is, zimmerman was a loser (off duty) security guard who likely had contempt towards the classic young black 'gangster' archetype -me personally -don't like that archetype neither -but that has nothing to do with hate. I hate the zimmerman archetype even more, zimmerman was clearly stalking trayvon -stalking is a felony crime! Some animals run away when threatened, while some animals approach the threat. Trayvon seen this little bitch of a man zimmerman following him in a car then he got out the car and running after trayvon-he had every right to attack zimmerman. Zimmerman was clearly a threat to trayvon.
But to those who really see the big picture kudos; people like us are too smart to get super emotional over tv programming, we know this trial has nothing to do with zimmerman or trayvon. This whole situation is a media campaign created to play on emotions and create conflict. -the media even tried to excite a race riot -these are psychological operations. -repeat -these a psychological operations. The media is controlled by the military industrial conflict, their only goal is commerce -and keeping the wheels of this beast machine spinning as they currently spin, because that is all they know. i don't think zimmerman should have gotten murder, he should have been charged with manslaughter -then sent to prison - so real redemption can take place.
-
I'm glad to see him acquitted. I wish every one protesting had to chip in $20 per person to give to Zimmerman so he and his family can try to get their lives back. The State didn't come close to making their case, and some of the comments from prosecutors **after** the verdict have been despicable.
-
Has anyone noticed that, in typical fashion, the grounds for outrage keep subtly shifting?
Month 1- "A crazed white vigilante murdered an innocent, angelic boy!". Then it turned out that Martin wasn't so innocent or angelic, and was for all practical purposes a man, not a boy. Zimmerman was also revealed to be not so crazed and not so white. So that angle was dropped.
Later- "It's those awful 'Stand your Ground' laws, that's what's wrong!". But the defense didn't even need to mention that law at trial, because was totally irrelevant to the case. That line was abandoned pretty swiftly by the smart media players, though some stragglers still haven't wrapped their heads around it yet.
During the trial (after it became clear that there was no way to prove murder)- "Zimmerman recklessly provoked a confrontation, ignoring police instructions!". But police testified that he cooperated fully and followed all their instructions, and the jury subsequently agreed.
After the acquittal: "Anyone who is going to carry a deadly weapon should be more careful, and more knowledgeable!" i.e., GZ was a little bit of a bumbling incompetent, which is more-or-less true.
This kind of "outrage distillation" is common when the press push a bullshit narrative and then discover that they were mostly wrong. They can't continue lying, but they can focus the same amount of anger and opprobrium onto smaller and smaller sins.
Florida has the worst justice system... First Casey Anthony and now this... Shit, I guess if I plan on murdering someone I should move to Florida as I would have a pretty high chance of getting off. Sheesh, if it happened in my state they both would have already been executed...
Stand your ground my ass
George Zimmerhuman should be lauded, not villified, for his thankless work at keeping the neighbourhood safe.
Police/flaw enfarcement doesn't keep anyone safe- generally speaking, police only respond to - and investigate- crime that have already taken place. Instead, the individual, observant citizen is the front-line of defence against crime.
A hundred-thousandfold serious crimes have been stymied by vigilant citizens than were never stopped by the police.
Joywind -pull that thong out ur ass.. haha -why go through life in fear of black people?
I don't go through life fearing black people. Knowing that blacks and black males in particular exhibit stupidity and aggressiveness on a daily basis and being prepared to deal with them is the logical approach to personal safety. Your perspective on this issue is based on lies, stupidity and propaganda. Enjoy your imaginary utopia.
Trayvon was about 70 yards away from his house on his way home, he wanted to watch the all star game which started at 730,
He was seventy yards from his home and could have easily walked inside, closed the door and watched the game. Instead he chose to confront and attack Zimmerman.
The fact of the matter is, Zimmerman was a loser (off-duty) security guard who likely had contempt towards the classic young black 'gangster' archetype.
No, those aren't facts. Zimmerman was an insurance writer, a husband, father and a neighborhood watch captain. Homes in his area were constantly being burglarized and witness reports described the suspects as black males wearing hoodies. As a member of the neighborhood watch it was Zimmerman's duty to observe Trayvon.
Why do you choose life in fear of mystery meat loser security guards more than black thugs that off each other in record numbers when they're not killing [real] children by accident because they don't know how to hold a fucking gun?
That's asinine.
Zimmerman was clearly stalking Trayvon--stalking is a felony crime!
You have utterly no clue whatsoever as to the legal definition of 'stalking' ...
"Like domestic violence, stalking is a crime of power and control. Stalking is conservatively defined as "a course of conduct directed at a specific person that involves repeated (two or more occasions) visual or physical proximity, nonconsensual communication, or verbal, written, or implied threats, or a combination thereof, that would cause a reasonable person fear." Stalking behaviors also may include persistent patterns of leaving or sending the victim unwanted items or presents that may range from seemingly romantic to bizarre, following or laying in wait for the victim, damaging or threatening to damage the victim's property, defaming the victim's character, or harassing the victim via the Internet by posting personal information or spreading rumors about the victim."
Some animals run away when threatened, while some animals approach the threat. Trayvon had every right to attack Zimmerman. Zimmerman was clearly a threat to Trayvon.
Zimmerman followed and observed Trayvon. There is no evidence that at any time during this event that Zimmerman threatened Trayvon. Trayvon could have called 911 if he was actually afraid for his safety or he could have simply walked into his Father's residence and the whole indecent would have been over. Trayvon wasn't afraid of Zimmerman, he was irritated that Zimmerman was observing his actions and decided to attack him.
The media sensationalized this incident to get ratings. Whites killing blacks are a very rare occurrences and since they couldn't actually find one of the occurrences they decided to take a Hispanic and turn him into a white guy.
i don't think zimmerman should have gotten murder, he should have been charged with manslaughter -then sent to prison - so real redemption can take place.
There was no evidence of Manslaughter but you think he should go to prison anyway to appease the Angry Blacks and Libtards, right? What about all the black-on-black killings that occur every day in America? Angry blacks, Libtards and people like you don't give two shits about that. If "No_limit_nigga" had been killed by another black, none of you people would be saying a thing.
-
I really couldn't care less. Innocent people die every day.its not the most important thing on my mind at the moment. When people talk about stuff like this its dumb. Ur opinion does not change anything that's going on in the trial or has happend in the trial.
I really just don't care about someone getting shot happens every day here and I don't see anyone jumping up and down about it. Watever bro
Probly gona get some thumbs down from some pussy!. God I'm haveing a shitty day!!! Grrrr.... going to take some xanax alchohol and go fishing on the lake to ease my mind peace....

It's not possible to not have an opinion on this trial. Enough peoples opinions can have some effect, maybe not in this trial but in the next. I'm not too encouraged by most peoples fake outrage in this case as I feel it's just for show. Like you say, shit happens everyday and no one really cares. But someone somewhere will care, it's as simple as cause and effect. The media hype over the case is sure to influence someone in a positive way so it can't be all bad.
-
If your about to break into a house your not going to pursue someone who may be watching you, and you won't go breaking and entering while on the phone with a bag of skittles and ice tea.
Irrelevant. It doesn't matter WHY Zimmerman approached Martin. Zimmerman had a legal right to approach Martin. If he thought Martin was engaged in suspicious behavior, and it turns out he wasn't...so what? Zimmerman was still allowed to have an unfounded suspicion about Martin, and to approach him on that basis.
fact is, zimmerman was a loser (off duty) security guard
That would also be irrelevant, if I stipulated to its accuracy. However, neither of us are informed on the matter of George Zimmerman's character, so we can't make claims about whether or not he was "a loser." And I find your attempt to do so to be indicative of an ad hominem approach that is characteristic of the bearer of a weak argument. I should be persuaded the the notion that Zimmerman was guilty of murder because he's the sort of fellow who probably had a difficult time getting laid in high school, or something?
had contempt towards the classic young black 'gangster' archetype
I share in that contempt, which I believe to be totally justified. Although you have yet to demonstrate that Zimmerman shared in it; you're just speculating. But then again...why wouldn't he dislike those who adhere to "the classic young black 'gangster' archetype?" What the fuck is there to like, anyway?
I hate the zimmerman archetype even more, zimmerman
Yeah, but this isn't a discussion about whom you hate. Its a discussion about whether George Zimmerman violated the murder statute in Florida.
zimmerman was clearly stalking trayvon -stalking is a felony crime!
Incorrect. You will search in vain for any statute, in Florida or any other U.S. jurisdiction, which states that a single instance of observing a stranger, and then attempting to approach him (despite the fact said stranger was a non-stationary pedestrian), constitutes the crime of "stalking," either felony or otherwise. That is not how the law is written, and thus this is no violation of any "stalking"-type statute. It doesn't even come close to rising to the level of "stalking."
trayvon-he had every right to attack zimmerman. Zimmerman was clearly a threat to trayvon.
Incorrect. You will search in vain for any statute (or case law), in Florida or any other U.S. jurisdiction, that states that a person has a legal "right" to launch a pre-emptive attack against someone on the basis of the fact that such a person suspects someone of following them. Its actually comical that you apparently think that's how the law works ie., "Well, that guy was being a jerk, and it was obnoxious, and it made me nervous and maybe a little scared...so I attacked him, as that was well within my rights." Seriously? You think that's the standard employed in these matters? Are you retarded?
-
I don't know where people get off talking about the young black gangsta archetype. These are clearly the Zimmerman archetype who feel as tho wearing a hoody makes you some sort of criminal degenerate. Here we fall back into the racist aspect of this whole thing. This is what got Zimmerman into his problem, preconceived notions about an entire race based on appearance. Smh
If you have contempt for that archetype it means you have no understanding of it or don't care to understand it.
Stop the hate and ignorance, shit plenty in the Nation love that archetype, the shit sells.

So with lack of any true facts you fall back to blame the entire State of Florida? Come on ST6, this sounds like your just trying to stir the shit instead of citing some laws or examples that prove there is something inherently wrong with Florida, not that's there's nothing wrong but how do you come up with such a provocative statement?
Your next quote shows even more the lack of facts you have or know about this case. It was and is a fact that those dwellings in that community had been the victims of burglaries in the recent past, and the reports of young black males wearing hoodies were seen at the time. Sooooo, how do you come up with this is racially motivated? I'm sorry you said "...hoody makes you some sort of criminal degenerate. Here we fall back into the racist aspect of this whole thing. This is what got Zimmerman into his problem, preconceived notions about an entire race based on appearance. Smh" The guy was the neighborhood watch and was watching a young black male that fits the description of burglars that were reported in the near past. This is not racism.

Lol
Neighborhood "Watch"
As in go call the real police

I agree, you need to stop the ignorance, about what I just stated above.

Peoples true colors display themselves behind these events of cultivated social news stories. I'll always take the side of the underdog when the cards are stacked against him. Fear of the unknown will always conjure up irrational decisions. Peoples fear certainly came out in this thread, or any random trayvon thread on the internet or youtube videos.
I can speak on both sides of the coin, Black people certainly fear and have a distrust for white culture -And white people definitely fear black culture(though blacks don't have a cohesive culture) -from lack of understanding. To those unable to transmute fear into courage -you'll always harbor a low vibrational state of consciousness.

True colors indeed. I'm looking at a lot of people sideways right now, more than usual. Even the nastiness surrounding this case serves a purpose however. I hope for the most part it has forced people to really re-evalute their values and ideas about the law, race, and life.

Trayvon Martin was an innocent, unarmed little child who, yeah, was beating the living shit of George Zimmerman in a fair fight THAT ZIMMERMAN STARTED. HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR! And Trayvon wasn't hitting him THAT hard, I mean, c'mon! HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ANY SERIOUS BRAIN INJURIES.. FUCK

hundreds of young black men die in amerika each year....
just like trayvon...difference is they get killed by someone who looks just like trayvon.....
people are so stupid..
there is blood everywhere---
we should focus our energy on saving those lives we can save...
zimmermans trial is just a sympton of the death orientated society we live under...
-
why was Trayvons past paraded. zman's past was just as colorful, it wasn't spoke about in court? ha -only in america. Some of Zmans family members even called zman a pedophile molester. No surprise this is what a lot of america support. In my opinion for black people to get some kind of justice -stop killing each other over some drug war shit and get up in that courts ass. Put hits on those who really need to get hit -on some gorilla shit.
in this era, where all the focused militant black people? I know the system assassinated a shit load of em, but i miss the ones the hippies like the weatherman used to stand behind. the real black panthers before the fbi compromised them -that was realness. 8)
In 2005 he was arrested and charged with “resisting officer with violence” and “battery of law enforcement officer,” both which are third-degree felonies. The charge was reduced to “resisting officer without violence” and then waived when he entered an alcohol education program. Contemporaneous accounts indicate he shoved an officer who was questioning a friend for alleged underage drinking at an Orange County bar.
In August 2005, Zimmerman’s ex-fiancee, Veronica Zuazo, filed a civil motion for a restraining order alleging domestic violence. Zimmerman counter-filed for a restraining order against Zuazo. The competing claims were resolved with both restraining orders being granted.
Referring to the Mexicans in his hometown of Manassas, Virginia, Zimmerman made a series of disparaging remarks about the Mexican community.

Ok..... my 2 cents
In the community where Zimmerman was "watching" over it is plagued with theft from young, black males. Zimmerman, seeing Trayvon, approached him and then was getting his ass whooped by Trayvon- who by the way was training at a local boxing gym.
If you listen to the 911 tapes you can hear Zimmerman screaming in terror for his life, because Trayvon had him pinned underneath him and proceeded to beat his face and slam it up and off the concrete. Legally, It all boils down to whether or not Zimmerman took the necessary force to save his life in self defense. None of the issues leading up to the confrontation are of any legal value. The jurors, after hearing all of the evidence, came to the conclusion that Zimmerman acted "rightly" in deciding to fire his weapon. Hence, why they found him not guilty. This is not an issue of race. Had it been Mexican's who were stealing and robbing from the community it would be the same issue. Did Zimmerman act "rightly" in self defense. I believe he did.
It's sad that the media wants to portray this as a race issue, when more black on black crime is committed all over the US.

Does falling back on an argument about "black on black" crime sound similar to the argument about slavery, "Africans sold slaves themselves" to anyone?

When G.Z. is armed and is the one doing the approaching, i feel like the whole 'self defense' 'necessary force to save his life' defense should be thrown out the window.
If he really wanted to use the minimum amount of 'necessary force' to investigate trayvon then he should have waited for LE.
From Trayvons point of view if an armed stranger who has been following be suddenly aproached me i wouldnt think i would act and i would fight as hard as i felt i needed to and wouldnt care what my attackers face might look like or if i went a little over board pounding their face into cement.

Yup.
I would feel/act exactly the same living in the nation of guns.
In the eu,when walking home,i'm always vigilant.ALWAYS.
And i don't even live in a dangerous place.
So somebody seemingly following me would without a doubt trigger "be on your guard and ready to defend"-mode.
When there is no doubt somebody is following me,you preferably gtfo.
99,9999% of the time,i don't have to worry about idiots with guns.
The laws in my country are that strict.
But living in gun nation ..you would make sure that person would not follow you.
This zimmerman fella should not have played a vigilanty.
With the bum mall cops skills he exhibited i'm sure it was entirely his fault things escalted to a fight and resulting in the death of someone else.
I'm not against guns entirely.
A gun to protect YOUR HOME in case of intruders threatning you IN YOUR HOME i can relate too.(thou many would probably fuck up assesment of the situation and panick shoot somebody).
But walking the streets with the rights to shoot somebody to your liking (like jack said..this case is no longer self-defense when you go looking for trouble).
The gun-culture in the U.S. is one that in my opinion just makes society way too violent, regardless if you're wearing a gun.
Things spiraled way out of control.

There is already another High Profile Stand Your Ground trial about to begin where a white guy killed a black guy in "Self -Defense" This one seems a little bit more cut and dry, but you never know with Florida's judicial system.
http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2013/07/trayvon-martin-jordan-davis-stand-your-ground
A white man named Michael Dunn shot and killed an unarmed black teenager named Jordan Davis in Florida last year after a brief dispute. The prosecutor overseeing the case is Florida state attorney Angela Corey. Dunn, who will be tried for murder, claims the shooting was in self-defense. Sound familiar?
Now that the state's nationally televised and notorious self-defense case has ended with the acquittal of defendant George Zimmerman, a next potentially high-profile test of the state's criminal-justice system may come when Dunn goes on trial for first-degree murder this September. And while Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground gun law didn't in the end figure into the Zimmerman decision, it may be tested in the Dunn case.
The killing took place in November 2012, while Dunn was parked at a gas station convenience store, waiting for his girlfriend to emerge from inside. Four teenagers, including 17-year-old Davis, were parked* next to Dunn's car in an SUV. After an argument over the teens' loud music, Dunn fired on the boys from his car, killing Davis. Dunn claims he opened fire only after one of the teens threatened his life, brandished a gun, and started to exit the SUV. Later he told police that he had "never been so scared" in his life.
The Davis family attorney, John Phillips, told HLN recently that Davis' parents are "freaking out about justice" after the Zimmerman verdict. But in another HLN interview, he cautioned that the two cases aren't identical, saying "the justice process is different for both. You gotta keep them separate."
He's right—there are some crucial distinctions. No one but Zimmerman and Martin himself bore witness to Zimmerman pulling the trigger. But there were several eyewitnesses to the Davis killing, including his three friends who survived. Despite Dunn's claim that one of the victims had a gun, police recovered no weapon, and witnesses say no one involved got out of a vehicle except for Dunn, who allegedly did so as he fired his final shots. Instead of calling 911 or waiting for police to arrive, Dunn then fled the scene with his girlfriend, went back to his hotel and ate pizza, and later returned to his home without calling police. Whereas Zimmerman walked free for nearly six weeks and was only arrested and charged after a national outcry, police arrested Dunn the day after he killed Davis.
Corey has been under fire over the outcomes of two self-defense cases she recently oversaw. Since the Zimmerman verdict, some critics have blasted her for charging him in the first place, while others argue that her team didn't present the case against him effectively. Zimmerman's case has been likened to another one handled under Corey in 2012: that of Marissa Alexander, a black woman who tried to use Stand Your Ground as her defense against aggravated assault charges. She said she fired a warning shot into a wall to fend off her abusive estranged husband; she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Corey claims there are "zero parallels" between the two cases.
In the upcoming Dunn trial, the issue of race is obvious to Davis' mother, Lucia McBath, but she told HLN's Raising America recently that it should not be the main focus.
"It's apparent that Michael Dunn is white, it's apparent that Jordan is black," McBath said. "But the issue is the Stand Your Ground laws. The issue is not the racial part of it. We're not going to center and focus on that, because that doesn't do any good for the country. We're not going to incite racism in this country. The bigger picture is making a change in the laws so that…this doesn't continue to happen."

Here is an article about a black woman in Florida who fired a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband. She unsuccessfully tried to use the same "stand your ground" law that got Zimmerman acquitted and instead was convicted and sentenced to 20 years.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/11/justice/florida-stand-ground-sentencing (clearnet, duh)
(CNN) -- Saying he had no discretion under state law, a judge sentenced a Jacksonville, Florida, woman to 20 years in prison Friday for firing a warning shot in an effort to scare off her abusive husband.
Marissa Alexander unsuccessfully tried to use Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law to derail the prosecution, but a jury in March convicted her of aggravated assault after just 12 minutes of deliberation.
The case, which was prosecuted by the same state attorney who is handling the Trayvon Martin case, has gained the attention of civil rights leaders who say the African-American woman was persecuted because of her race.
After the sentencing, Rep. Corrine Brown confronted State Attorney Angela Corey in the hallway, accusing her of being overzealous, according to video from CNN affiliate WJXT.
"There is no justification for 20 years," Brown told Corey during an exchange frequently interrupted by onlookers. "All the community was asking for was mercy and justice," she said.
Corey said she had offered Alexander a plea bargain that would have resulted in a three-year prison sentence, but Alexander chose to take the case to a jury trial, where a conviction would carry a mandatory sentence under a Florida law known as "10-20-life."
'Stand your ground' plea rejected
The law mandates increased penalties for some felonies, including aggravated assault, in which a gun is carried or used.
Corey said the case deserved to be prosecuted because Alexander fired in the direction of a room where two children were standing.
Alexander said she was attempting to flee her husband, Rico Gray, on August 1, 2010, when she picked up a handgun and fired a shot into a wall.
She said her husband had read cell phone text messages that she had written to her ex-husband, got angry and tried to strangle her.
She said she escaped and ran to the garage, intending to drive away. But, she said, she forgot her keys, so she picked up her gun and went back into the house. She said her husband threatened to kill her, so she fired one shot.
"I believe when he threatened to kill me, that's what he was absolutely going to do," she said. "That's what he intended to do. Had I not discharged my weapon at that point, I would not be here."
Alexander's attorneys tried to use the state law that allows people to use potentially deadly force anywhere they feel reasonably threatened with serious harm or death.
But a previous judge in the case rejected the request, saying Alexander's decision to go back into the house was not consistent with someone in fear for her safety, according to the Florida Times Union newspaper.
A jury convicted Alexander in March and Judge James Daniel denied her request for a new trial in April.
Daniel handed down the sentence Friday after an emotional sentencing hearing during which Alexander's parents, 11-year-old daughter and pastor spoke on her behalf.
Several people had to be escorted from the courtroom after breaking out singing and chanting about a perceived lack of justice in the case, but Daniel made a point to say that he had no choice under state law.
"Under the state's 10-20-life law, a conviction for aggravated assault where a firearm has been discharged carries a minimum and maximum sentence of 20 years without regarding to any extenuating or mitigating circumstances that may be present, such as those in this case," Daniel said.
Brown, the Jacksonville congresswoman, told reporters after the sentencing that the case was a product of "institutional racism."
"She was overcharged by the prosecutor. Period," Brown said. "She never should have been charged."
Brown has been more complimentary about Corey's work in the Trayvon Martin case, where her office filed second degree murder charges against neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the February 26 death of the unarmed African-American teen-ager.
That case provoked nationwide protests demanding Zimmerman's arrest after an initial police investigation released him under the "stand your ground" law.

A fat paranoid heavily armed obese Mexican murdered a black child on the grounds he was eating sweeties.
A jury of white witches pulled pillow-cases on their heads, cackled, and rode broomsticks.
Lots of right-wing people moaned if you're not allowed to hunt down and murder innocent black children then it's just not the kind of America they want to live in.
Europeans looked at each other and realised no matter how bad things get in the Old Lands it'll never be the USA.

He was not heavily armed he was using 9mm which he shot once well he was between 1 and 18 inches from Trayvon. Witnesses said they believed Trayvon was the aggressor and that Martin was on top of zimmerman their is also no video theirs not enough evidence to prove second degree and the prosecutions sole focus was this charge, so even if he could of been charged with manslaughter proper evidence was not shown to the jury. The case is not about staying in your car, its about how and why Trayvon was killed. Also this has little to do with with EU vs American murder stats as a whole you literally half to ignore all homicide statistics to come to that conclusion from this one case. Remember 94% of black people are murdered by other black people which leaves little room for racist whites.

This trial is nothing but an a tool to distract the masses and get them angry over something that does not compare to Obama using drones to kill American children or listening to your phone calls.

As for Mizzz Brown, we didn't hold her crack addicted, ass selling self to the Racial views like should have been. lol ;)

Am I allowed to reveal my race or is that a breach of etiquette here? No matter. The fact of the matter is two idiots decided to be idiots and when their idiocy collided it left death in its wake. They were both wrong. Trayvon should've taken his black ass home. Zimmerman should've stayed in his vehicle and hung back. His lack of training made this situation into what it turned out to be. He could've obtained visuals from his vehicle there was no need to follow a potentially dangerous person on foot. Was profiling involved? Perhaps but we profile all of the time when we recognize recurring patterns. So I'm not as mad as most of the other people I talk to about it. Then again I'm not mad at all and can't even be real about it.
-
Regardless what the verdict is, Zimmerman is still going to have to deal with the national attention, death threats, and racism (against him). A name change, basic appearance change and relocation is probably necessary for any type of return to a normal life. Probably not just him to, his family and whoever else was part of trial. Also all the money to have that done, not to mention his legal fees, and the interrogations and police involvement he was already a part of before the verdict.
I'm on his side, race shouldn't really matter in this, but now that the verdict is in, the Martin's have no other option but to make it a racial issue. This whole thing is really a step backwards in society, if you ask me.
-
A huuuge step backwards in society
-
I didn't follow the trial but I read up on the case prior to the trial, and have read the news since it. I think that Zimmerman acted foolishly in a few ways. Getting out of his car and following Trayvon was a bad idea, but maybe he was just trying to keep track of his location to help the police find him. Trayvon was almost certainly a burglar since he was previously found at school to have dozens of pieces of stolen jewelry, but who knows if he was casing houses or not, it is a bit irrelevant to the confrontation between Zimmerman and him. I think Trayvon was probably panicked that somebody was following him for whatever reason, he had no clue who Zimmerman was, etc. I don't think Trayvon really did anything particularly wrong in that he wasn't out looking to get in a fight and he probably felt some level of threatened, so he himself could have argued self defense if he lived through the ordeal, although it seems like he went way overboard given the perceived threat so he would have probably been convicted of at least assault and perhaps aggravated assault. But I can't really blame Zimmerman for shooting him. If somebody is on top of you beating on you, maybe you shouldn't shoot them if it is just a normal ass kicking. But when you start slamming somebodies head into concrete you are pretty much attempting to kill them or cause them serious brain damage. I have no doubt that Zimmerman felt in fear of his life, and it isn't like he did anything illegal or even particularly warranting of an ass kicking by following Trayvon, so for the most part Trayvon tried to kill Zimmerman after being spooked by him and somewhat provoked, and he ended up dying because Zimmerman had a gun. If he had just punched him in the face and brought him to the ground and then stopped, he should not have been shot. But he went way overboard and it seems like Zimmerman wasn't even really fighting back, was pinned to the ground and had his head repeatedly smashed into concrete, so although a violent reaction by Trayvon would have been justified, he took it way too far and escalated it to such a point that Zimmerman was perfectly justified in elevating his own confrontation to deadly force. Trayvon is the one who escalated things.

It is also worth noting that in most of Europe Zimmerman would have quite possibly been killed by blunt force trauma to the head, whereas in USA the person who escalated the violence to deadly levels is the one who was killed, thanks to the ability of US citizens to carry weapons and use them in self defense. If anything this is a great example of why guns should be legal.

The beauty of this is that the child did not lose his life in vain, he's now a martyr, and possibly in a better place. We can debate and debate, I think it is good, it sparks change. There is more than one kind of justice. Perhaps Tray is the lucky one, he has escaped this negative world, I pray that his departure proves beneficial.

What the fuck is wrong with you? At first I thought you were just fucking around with this dumb shit you had been spewing but now I am starting to wonder if you really don't know shit about this case.
If you are just trying to conjure up debate? Then ok I get it, but geeze you sound like some of those pathetic NE media giants who have not done any research into this hoodlum, thief, 17year old rapist named TRAYVON...
-
I could've been on the bad side of an incident as I was robbed for 6 zips of molly. I had 4 guns held to my head by 4 shakey-handed niggas....for what tho? There was no malice in my mind, as I ignored the signs that somethin like this was gonna happen. When I got home, I used my backup cell and texted that fool. Basically, he said he robbed me because he got robbed the week prior and then told me to "Go teach someone else a lesson"....shit made me sick to my stomach cause I can see that faggot being one of those people who blacked out his facebook page "in tribute" to Trayvon Martin....basically sayin, "Oh I can treat my black people the way I want to but it isn't ok for other races to do the same." Get real
I know that innocent people are killed every minute, but I never looked at the Trayvon case from a racial standpoint. As someone stated earlier, there were wrong doings by both parties....And just like innocent people are killed, cases are wrongfully trialled. Because in the end....it's not about what you know...IT'S ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN PROVE.
In my opinion, truth is proof and proof is in education...especially for black people.
"A System Cannot Fail Those It Was Never Meant to Protect."
The sooner some of you racnegroes realize this, the more consolidated we will be as black people. Take accountability and stop blaming the world for problems. This whole Martin case made me put together an organization in the troubled neighborhoods of my city. Hoping to make a difference locally. Cause most people aren't doin shit but spectating and speculating.
P.S.....the media is a shit stream...
-
That's good that you started an organization. We can all scream and yell for justice, but actions are what matter. Race played a major role in this case and this mockery of all forms of justice, but it's not about race rights IMO. It's about human rights. We need respect for each other, no matter who the person might be. I know its hard to respect everyone, their opinions and their way of life, because we have made it very easy as a society to just fall back on name calling and stereotypes. I want change, and I started by changing myself, in the process I am able to step back and see the bigger picture, that it's an ugly world out there, and doing the right thing has become associated with weakness. It would be easy to rob and steal, but I won't give in to that, because that is real weakness. I strive on!

The two tragedies of the Martin shooting are that a young man is dead. The second is that the media in the US and beyond have completely unnecessarily turned this into a wider racial conflict which is resulting in further race-related violence and animosity.
The mainstream media in the US have a lot to answer for. They are the ones who cast Zimmerman as the "white". Has anyone ever heard of the ethnic descriptor "white-Hispanic" prior to the Martin shooting? Fuck no. If some white guy gunned down Zimmerman in an altercation, you can bet your house the Hispanic advocacy groups would be describing him as a Latino, not a "white-Hispanic". Why don't we ever hear that Obama is the first "white-black" president? And let's not forget that Zimmerman's Peruvian grandmother is half African, meaning that Zimmerman has enough African ancestry to be eligible for the affirmative action enrolment credits offered to African-Americans at most US universities.
But no, what we've all been presented with by much of the mainstream media is that the white guy murdered the black child. What a simplistic analysis.
Shit, you gotta feel sorry for Zimmerman. I mean, imagine if we alter just one aspect of history - that George's mother was white and his father was Latino. That means he would be George Mesa. And we wouldn't be having this conversation, because we would never have heard of George Mesa or Trayvon Martin. A Latino guns down a black ... well it's just another day in the 'hood. Slow news day. Wait for the retaliation, or don't. It's so predictable it'd be barely newsworthy within the county, let alone the state.
But a white spastic cop murders an angelic black kid - now there's a national (make that international) story with legs. And with a name like 'George Zimmerman', it's too easy to paint him as a white. A few days later and the slightly inconvenient fact that he's on the electoral roll as a Hispanic and a registered Democrat emerges. Thankfully, his father's white, and his family name's Zimmerman, for god's sake. How white can you get? Oh, the mother. OK so he's 'white-Hispanic'.
And then there are the two photos of Martin that the media runs constantly. One is of him looking angelic when he was about 12. The other is a poignant shot of him in a hoodie. Martin's family went to great lengths to ensure no recent photos of Martin were released with him showing his teeth. Why? Because he had a dirty great grill. And he enjoyed gangsta poses. This of course proves nothing, but it undermines the choirboy image the media projects. We are being fed The Narrative they've decided upon, and photos of a 16 year old trying very hard to look as badass as possible (an image that most 16 year old boys the world over either cultivate or would like to cultivate) don't support The Narrative. So these photos which show another side of the Real Trayvon don't see the light of day.
From what I know of the case, it's clear there's reasonable doubt Zimmerman did not murder Martin. Nope, not even manslaughter. There is no evidence that Zimmerman ever intended to harm Martin. Zimmerman claims that he was on his way back to his car when he was ambushed by Martin. No one is able to contradict this. There is no evidence that Zimmerman was lying about this, even though he may have been. But the threshold is reasonable doubt that Zimmerman was the aggressor. This was clearly not established, and could never have been established given what was presented in court (as well as what was in the public domain prior to the trial!) Zimmerman's head injuries to his face and the back of his head - which received practically no coverage in the mainstream media - were consistent with his account that Martin was beating the shit out of him; he was on the ground being punched in the face and his head was being slammed into the pavement by Martin who was straddling him. Then Zimmerman shot him because he claimed Martin was going for his gun. One man's word - there were no witnesses to the shooting.
And therein lay the problem for the prosecution. There was evidence that corroborated some of Zimmerman's version of events. Other parts of what he says happened....well all we have is his word. The prosecution's version of events is either supported by extremely weak evidence or is provided in the form of supposition by someone who was not there, did not see what happened, and has constructed a scenario that would make Zimmerman guilty of murdering Martin. Oh dear. Beyond reasonable doubt - that's what the jury had to decide upon. Not a chance. Given the above, Zimmerman should never have been charged, let alone faced court. He simply wouldn't have been tried if the case wasn't so massively politicised.
It's a terrible, terrible event that's set race relations back years. So unnecessarily. And it's primarily the mainstream media's fault. They're the ones that framed this shooting as a "white on black crime". I bet they made a shitload of money out of this circus.
And you know what? The real elephant in the room is black on black killings. The Martin shooting was not necessarily a crime, but it's obvious that white people commit crimes that cause the death of innocent black people like Trayvon.
But for every one such case, there would be 10 or (possibly many) more incidents where innocent black people die from crimes committed by blacks. We don't talk about this much, however. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, they're all pretty quiet about that. They'll talk for as long as you'll listen about George Zimmerman, however. Hell they're still talking after everyone's left the room, the silly old blowhards.
The whole thing is a deeply, deeply sordid and cynical affair driven by the lure of ratings hikes by inflaming racial division - and doesn't that result in a few nice fat paychecks for the leaders of the Victim Industry?

....but it's not about race rights IMO. It's about human rights. We need respect for each other, no matter who the person might be....
