So it looks like we can't use intersango anymore, which is a shame because I really liked how they did things. I've been looking at mt gox as an alternative but that doesn't seem hugely private and I'm not sure if they take transfers from a GBP bank, can anyone clarify?
So UK, where're you getting your coins now?
-
I have just joined Silk Road and i haven't got a clue how to obtain bitcoins and make an order. Can anybody help bearing in mind that i am not a computer whizzkid. Thanks
-
YES they do m8 i use them here in UK fast as well ....
good luck
-
Has Sang died now then?
-
Has Sang died now then?
Yes. They had problems with Metrobank. Have not been accepting transfers since early sept I believe.

And yet their site is still up? :-\

Yup - They also deal with the USA, Poland, and the SEPA Eurozone.

So they are an English company that doesn't even trade to U.K clients. Fuck me they suck more balls than, I dunno, a porn-star or something.

Couldn't you transfer the money to their polish EUR bank account? Your bank will probably levy a fee for the conversion GBP-->EUR but still way better then getting goxed or gixed.

Just logged into my Mtgox account on clearweb and it says that i now need to verify my account, and want all my details such as name address, and proof ect, they havent wanted it before, why now?
think im fucked for getting BTC now tbh

Because you have clearly hit the magic number of trades done to warrant their interest. Welcome to the hard world of vending. :P

How have you been buying the coins, as in which payment method? How frequently and in what amounts (just give round numbers).

Yup spot on Limet. They were orginally called Britcoin, weren't they? A British company not dealing with British business, it's not just sucking balls, it's taking a hard kick to the nuts! Wonder how long they will survive?

This is because MtGox have adopted a new AML (anti money laundering) policy, because of bloody Dwolla. That's why they want so much personal info. Even when I inquired about doing bank transfers with them, they still wanted my personal info. Naturally, I closed my account, and fucked them off instantly. They are even anti Tor, if you log on and use your account via Tor they will terminate you, if that doesn't spark red lights, I don't know what will! If you'd like to read more (clearwebalert) https://mtgox.com/press_release_20120518.html
MtGox isn't the be all and end all of BTC exchange in Britain. Spend a little time looking around, there's plenty of options out there for you. Always remember the best way to deal, if you can, is with cold hard untraceable cash, the less of a paper trail you create, the better it is for you! Everybody be smart and stay safe. :)
-
It all depends on what your buying lets say if your buying an 1/8 of weed a week, here on silk road getting your coins from mtgox will be fine, you will not be flagged up by police postoffice mtgox or any other agency your just to small and insufficient to them . I would be more cautious if i were a vendor tho , but as a small time user of soft drugs fuck them !!!
bank transfer to mtgox with aml with a uk account.

yes this is what I'm searching for a way to get btc for cold hard cash, would you care to shed a little more light on the "plenty of options" you mentioned please?

I'll PM you with the answer Neville, as I'm unsure of how the site I deal with would feel about having their name mentioned here, and I wouldn't want to ruin it for myself, or anybody else that needs the info. BTC are a generally pain in the arse to acquire in the UK, but they make it easy breezy - How it should be! They're brilliant, can't recommend them highly enough! :)
-
Hi PrincessHIGH i was wondering if you would be kind enough to share your options to get bitcoins in a PM to me aswell please? Would be much appreciated especially after i went the ukash route and ended up getting around 3 BTC for £50 which doesnt seem right to me, thanks :).
-
Hi PrincessHIGH, newbie (although my crash course on Tor, BTC and PGP seems to have dragged on for weeks... I'm finally getting there!!)
I thought my only route was working with VirWox, linden dollars and second life. I now have an avatar I don't want and I am doubling up on commissions but I finally received some BTC...
... please pm me with a better way, if possible....
-
Ugh, I was going to use mt.gox for GBP but now they've gone and stopped too. No intersango, no mt.gox. I just want some bloody bitcoins!
-
There are other options other than Sterling if you are in the U.K.

True, another good option.
Woah, never thought I was going to be bombarded by PMs, never thought, so many would be in the same boat. I have given some a few pointers, the ones with a good post count that have been here a while, but please don't expect me to PM back if you've registered today with a post count of 2, for obvious reasons.
Asked this on the other thread that's arisen on this topic, but has anybody got their own cash in mail for BTC service on SR? Looks like they could make a killing now!
-
AHHHHHHH im also in the same boat, gutted intersango arnt workin...princess if u were to PM me some pointers id be mad grateful... infact anyone please its long trying to get coins i miss silk road a lot...what happened to vladimir, he do the off with a load of cash when bussiness picked up?
-
what happened to vladimir, he do the off with a load of cash when bussiness picked up?
Still here according to conspiracy theorists. Our very own Limetless and Vlad are one and the same ;)
I guess it's only a matter of time before someone fills the void. A pretty big void it would seem. I had hopes for this guy, but he's gone quiet now: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=43045.0
Thanks to PrincessHIGH for the advice though :)
-
This is hellish. Been a member of SR for nearly a year and never had any issues acquiring bitcoins in the UK till now. Can anyone offer advice on where to even LOOK for other alternatives? (only joined forums today due to this, been raiding every corner of the interweb for hours)
-
MORNING CAMPERS!
another victim here of the UK BTC f*** up. Infact, I have a 3 digit amount of GBP up in cyberspace somewhere because of the recent closure to GBP deposits, unfortunately, my funds were sent around about the same time they must've decided to stop.
-- 8)-- if ANYONE can lead me in the direction of a few options I would be most grateful -- 8)--
-
I assume this is going to be THE problem for British SR users from now on.
I seriously hope both Intersango and MtGox get their act together soon.
Also if anyone knows I trustworthy means of getting BTC please PM me.
-
Yeah, me and a mate have had the same problem today. Can anyone recommend a good BTC exchange which allows GBP bank transfers? pls PM me with recommendations. If someone can get me hooked up with a reliable UK source it's worth a bitcoin of the few remaining coins I still have in my wallet!!
I'm also interested in any Aussie sites as I have a bank a/c over there with funds....
The way I see it, there are two possible reasons for this.
1.) The type of account that Intersango / Mt.Gox have with Barclays is not a proper business account, and therefore they're not paying fee's on money being deposited into the account. This might explain why Barclays have restricted the number of deposits, and are trying to make them switch to a business account where they have to pay fees, and would then no doubt have to pass them onto people like us.
2.) The establishment are cracking down on Bitcoins. It's fair to say they don't like this free-market currency as THEY don't have any control over it, and therefore can't impose fees or follow the money. Also, it must be very difficult to attack the SR as it's concealed on the Tor network, but it's far easier to attack the way people get their bcs, by making things difficult for the Bitcoin-exchange websites. I used to get my coins from Intersango, but they had a similar problem and are no longer able to accept UK bank transfers.
The crazy thing is, who ever heard of a bank that didn't accept money!!?? This is a big concern for all of us. I would say something is going down behind the scenes and this is part of an orchestrated plan by the establishment.
cheers

I've just tried bitcoinwallet via the sms/text option but that hasn't seemed to work. I'm a little bit stuck because I don't have a smartphone. I'd really appreciate any ideas - that are reasonably cheapish.
-
Buy ukash (http://www.ukash.com/uk/en/home.aspx) vouchers from your nearest newsagent then exchange them on SR with a vendor like http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/index.php/silkroad/user/c536b90105
(I cannot vouch for any vendors for this service, yet)
-
Expensive though... for the Ukash exchange... they're asking £200 for 21.64!
I could have gotten 22-23 coins for less than £175 from mtGox depending on my patience...
Definitely need another option, bank transfer preferred, I have messaged princessHIGH, but she's being cautious due to my low post count (totally understand btw).
P.S. if anyone I've helped with info from my few previous posts would like to vouch for me....
; )
-
does anyone know if you can get coins through a ukbitinstant deposit --> mtgox?
or possible ukbitinstant ---->cryptoXchange ----> Mtgox?
-
Have any of you Brits just considered not paying with Sterling?
-
Hey Limetless, could you elaborate on what you mean please? As I have £ Sterling in my bank account.
How are you suggesting I convert and deposit to either Intersango or MTGox without the bank deposit block being an issue?
Sorry if I'm missing something very obvious here, pleasantly vaped...
:)
-
I have access to a French bank account which is going to prove very handy but with Mtgox you are required to verify which I'm not prepared to do.
I think Limitless is suggesting that you send money to a european bank and trade from there.
So back to where it all started Intersango but now trading in the Euro.
-
you can transfer to intersangos polish bank through sepa wire transfere but you have to accept the 20/10 pound charge (depending on who you bank with, may be more!) and also the hidden charges that the banks may levy

how do we go about getting a european bank account?! eeerp
-
Fucking Money laundering....
its only gonna get harder & more expensive to buy BTC.
-
Limetless, even if you could open a European bank account (which seems pretty difficult to me) you'd still have to send the money via swift/iban from your domestic account which can cost up to £20, and that's before you pay the exchanger's fees. It makes more sense just to use intersango, aurumxchange's etc polish/european account I would have thought. Any more ideas anyone?

And that's hardly a a none traceable route either. I like to deal in cold hard cash....or UKASH.

This guy sounded promising, but has gone very quiet . He messaged me last week to say he was still setting things up, and should be running this week. We'll have to see, but I aint holding my breath.
There must be someone out there who can fill the void left by Vlad. Please? There is a long list of bitcoin hungry punters waiting impatiently, and money to be made. Meanwhile, SR and it's vendors must be suffering a little bit in lost trade.
I know a lot of people out there have there own trusted routes and don't want to share in public. If anyone trusts me enough, please pm me :)
PrincessHIGH has helped me, but I am always looking for other routes. As I say, cash, or UKASH.

Looking at Intersango it looks like I can deposit funds into the Euro's a/c (based in Warsaw). I assume my UK bank will hit me with a one-off international transaction fee, and the exchange rate from £ to euros might not be great, but this seems the best option right now. To make it worthwhile and ease the bank fees it would make sense to transfer a good amount of funds ([payday!). Has anyone tried this method? Does the Polish bank have any receiving fees (like Mt-Gox Japan account)? or other fees, like taking a % of the funds you send in GBP? Would appreciate any pearls of wisdom!
Cheers,
PTF

To be fair yeah it does. I didn't really look into it when I suggested it I was just asked and it was the first thing that came off the top of my head that I could do. I don't buy BTC so it doesn't really enter my mind a lot of the time.
Good luck though everyone. :)

If you had a relative/friend in a foreign country which accepts cash deposits, you could send him bank transfer under the pretence of family support/finiancial aid and they could send it to your wallet. It's obvious the authorities are slowly strangling the anonymous way of BTC, we just need to be more creative. This way also puts your friend in minimal danger. I'm also only interested in small purchases but want to be protective of myself.

Hi Elmer, I transferred £300 to Intersangos Polish Euro's a/c today via international transfer. I did it via internet banking and only got charged £10 fee by my UK bank. I had the GBP converted to Euro's before it was sent, so the bank skimmed a little extra on the foreign exchange (approx 10 euros). Anyway, I should have 366 euros hitting my Intersango a/c in a couple of days. I'm hoping there's no additional fees incurred at the Polish end (receiver fees?). I'll report back on the result.
At this stage this seems like a relatively easy and inexpensive way to do it, but makes sense to send a large amount of cash, so the £10 fee is a smaller percentage of the total. In this case that tenner is a 3.3% fee on my transaction. I can live with that.

Just to update you, the Polish bank charged me 2.41 EUR for receiving the funds. The Euro's hit my Intersango a/c within 3 hours. Amazingly fast! I've calculated that using this method I've paid about 6% more on my BTC. Not too bad, and I now have my coins.

Thanks for the post PartTimeFiend. Was also disappointed to find Intersango had stopped accepting UK transfers, haven't been on SR for over a month and there's too much change!
I ended up sticking money into Mtgox's bank on Tuesday morning, instantly regrettable desicison that! Has anybody made GBP deposits to Mtgox recently? I know they've had their issues with the amount of transactions they can process, which is why I waited until Tuesday. Nothing yet mind you, hopefully by the weekend? (haven't used them before)

Mt-Gox GBP deposits were halted this week. Read the press release here: https://mtgox.com/press_release_20120925.html
Your best bet is going back to Intersango (which can be operated via Tor), and consider the international transfer to their Euro a/c. Yeah it costs a little extra, but it took 10 min to do on internet banking and I had the Euros in my Intersango a/c in 3 hours, ready to buy BTC. I'm also researching other methods so I have backup if the exchange websites experience further restrictions...
-
Hey UK Based People:
Can I just confirm that PartTimeFiend's experience was almost exactly the same as mine, totally positive...
Very easy, just used the "Euro" deposit details on the Intersango site, transfer my pounds (£'s) into their Polish account (which will be converted to Euro's in the process by the way) and then credited to my Intersango account.
My Bitcoins were available the very next day...
(This was due to a late afternoon deposit, could be quicker I reckon).
Bank: Barclays
Charge: £15
:)
-
has anyone had any emails from mtgox bout their problem yet?
-
Stop, stop, stop, all of you, and listen to what I have to say... that is, if you have an IPhone or Android Smartphone...
Head over to <clearnet> www.blockchain.info and create an 'account' / set up for a new online Bitcoin Wallet. Once setup, you'll notice that there's a Barclays Pingit option for deposits. It's really simple, and you don't even need to have a Barclays account in order to use their application.
Just have a read of this page...
https://blockchain.info/wallet/deposit-pingit
You'll get instructions on-screen via BlockChain, and their fee is only 0.97%. You simply input the amount you want to deposit, in GBP, example, £250, and then it'll come up with a Phone Number that you send the payment to, via the PingIt Iphone/ Android application. The great thing is, the money will appear in your account as Bitcoins, rather than GBP. The conversion at "market rate" is already done for you. Apparently, if you've got a Barclays account, it can be 1 - 10 minutes before seeing the funds in your account, but otherwise it's the norm - up to 24 hours.
I know some people will want the choice of what rate they buy their coins at, but as UK users seem to be running out of options, and with the relevant ease of this new application, its the way forward for me and I'll continue to use it, and recommend it to people, until there's a problem.
Note, £250 deposit limit per week. That kind of sucks...

Seems too slack on securing personal details for me. Fuck linking my phone to my bank to an app and sending coins here!
-
Well I always increase my anonymity by sending the coins from <WHEREVER> (in this case BlockChain) to "Bitcoin Fog Company" - just increases the anonymity preventing further linking to the account.
Besides, there's nothing illegal about buying bitcoins, and bitcoin addresses are so unique and individual and with the ability to change your address whenever, there shouldn't really be much to worry about.

which does it work i might give it a whirl, does blockchain make you a wallet which then you can send from there to the road?
-
People say it's legal to buy BTC, but surely a record of acquiring BTC and then a seizure or 2 at you address would be enough for LE to prosecute even though YOUR BTC didn't make the purchase as far as they can trace? I just don;t like an official record of me buying BTC for the rest of my life. Never know how it could be used against you. I only make small purchases as well.

So basically just to confirm, ill do an online transfer into the euro account, get a charge, buy bitcoins with my euros, less the charge and send them here as usual?
i tried to whack 200 quid in mtgox last night and it got refunded this morn, then i heard about the news.
i see mtgox lets you buy coins via gopay, but you have to be fully ID checked even to pay fuck that
Edit; just checked and its £10 to send eu to eu, at natwest, if that helps anyone ;)
-
The Barclay's Pingit option is unavailable to any jailbroken phones, even with xcon... so that option is out the window until it gets updated which I wouldn't hold my breath for.
-
Just a bit of a warning i went down to natwest, to send cash and gave her all the details from the intersango, checked all the iban and shit, then when i get home i see the address she had in wasn't the same as the one on the site,
luckly i only sent 80 quid and i told her to take the tenner charge from that but she didn't so i get home check online banking and nothing, taken (as didn't have 90 quid).
so i sent 70 quid paid with online banking and with the right fuckin address, im not sure it would of mattered, im sure the iBAN has your acc/sort in it.

does anyone know if you have to go to barclays bank to verify pingit?iv downloaded pingit and verified the code and the screen now says "to remove account limits take ID and proof of address to account verification service" which seems a bit awkward considering im not with barclays.can it not be used without out "removing limits"?

That is the exact problem I have been having, I thought it was because I entered the verification code in wrong.
If it doesn't work after the second time of trying I'm just going to give up and use my French account.

are you going to delete it and try again?let me know how it goes.i entered all the codes right have to wait 3 days for the penny code so i made sure it was right...still every time i log in the same page come up "to remove account limits".the thing is it doesnt say anywhere on the barc;ays site that you have to.its becoming a pain
-
Barclays current a/c holder, and didn't run into that issue.
Did you attempt to send more than £250?
-
Yeah I deleted it all and started again but same result.
No I have not got near sending any money as soon as I complete the process it comes up with "to remove account limits take ID and proof of address to account verification service".
Meaning I either go to a Barclay's bank with my ID etc or scrap it altogether.
-
fs by the sounds of it if your an account holder with barclays then you dont need to verify since they already have your details....looks like ill be scraping that idea for now
-
Just an update paid 70 quid into intersango euro account yesterday afternoon, (natwest standard 2-4 day transfer) paid £10 charge, and got no charge at their end, and the cash arrived this morn in my account
-
I have just transfered euros to Intersango from my Natwest account. (as yoyo said they charge £10). now I just have to wait.....I am not sure ill be able to sleep until I get the money on my intersango wallet ???
-
Just tried the pingit method. Managed to xfer funds into my pingit account within seconds from HSBC, but every time I try to send to blockchain, it comes back with an error code P2001. Barclays support were no help & suggested I try again in a few hours. Very frustrating.
-
I've also just deposited euros to intersango, they've received it and it says review pending. I'm wondering now whether it would have been better to send in the local currency, PL, rather than Euros? Surely, it's just being converted twice when it only needs to be converted once?
-
I received my euros on Intersango! so Natwest transfers in euros to the EURO intersango bank works. i had the money within 24hrs.
Now I can get BTC.
I'm still struggling on how to encrypt messages with PGP but i have the all day to read the whole forum about it so I hope I'll be able to do it by tonight.
One more step done!

I've been using MTGox for the entire time I've been using SR (probably about a year now although I've not had a forum account for that long) and was relieved at how easy a GBP to Bitcoin transaction was. But now they've had all these problems with Barclays it's messed me up big time, I can be a bit dense when it comes to international transfers etc but after reading this forum it seems a transfer to the Euro account on Intersango seems the best way forward.
It sucks that it's more expensive but it looks like us in the UK don't have much choice if we want to use SR anymore :(
I've messaged PrincessHIGH for a bit of help but I understand that she doesn't want to dish out her information to just anyone. Ah well I guess I'm gonna see what Intersangos all about.
Does anyone know if MTGox or Intersango are getting anything done about the UK accounts or are they just accepting that there's no more transfers going?

Must have been a temporary glitch because it worked just fine this morning. I can recommend this method, I think it's a much improved experience over Intersango imho.

I get the impression the 'establishment' have leant on the UK banks who were accepting Intersango and Mt-Gox GBP deposits. It's all justified under the new 'money laundering' rules, which make all kinds of UK banking transactions a pain in the arse. I'm not sure these options will be back up and running any time soon. Princess HIGH didn't get back to me, so I wouldn't hold out for any tips from her. That's fair enough though. I'd just read these forums as there's enough info out there to help you find a suitable alternative. Sounds like you may have read my earlier posts on Intersangos Euro a/c. It was incredibly easy, and the funds were there in hours. Just need to make it a decent sum of cash to make it worthwhile with the fees, etc. Good luck, PTF :)

You're a great help man thanks a lot! I'll report back with how it goes just to boost the credibility but it seems that the general consensus is the Intersango - Euros deposit is the best way forward

Has anybody tried the "Polish Zloty (PLN)" option rather than "Euro (EUR)" at Intersango?
The bank is in London so there may be less of a conversion charge.
Account number looks a bit long and strange though.
-
The guy's at Blockchain have said that more than 10 GBP will be possible again very soon. Obviously I can't guarantee anything, but it's a light at the end of the tunnel.
As for sending funds to intersango's Polish option, on their site, there's no mention of a sort code, yet my internet banking seems to require one (see below)
INTERSANGO's Polish option.. as mentioned in previous post.
Deposit PLN
Beneficiary..Intersango LTD
Bank.. Bank Zachodni
Account Number.. 15 1090 1883 0000 0001 1641 7759
Address supplied too (london)
When I try to transfer funds to an account I get a few empty boxes to fill in, A/C, sort code, reference, description (optional). YET, there's no sort code on the intersango site for the Polish bank option.
Question is, would I just leave the sort code blank?
If that's not possible, How are people getting round this to transfer to the Polish bank? a charge of £10 doesn't seem too much of a problem. so I'd consider using intersango this way.
There's another option.. Going via bitstamp. This means a transfer using the 'swift' (BIC and IBAN) method though, which charges £25 <<< well, it does for me at my bank.
has anyone had any luck with localbitcoin? that appears to be safest and best, but requires that bit more effort and time with the meet ups.

Instead of the Polish option, try the Euro option. It's also a Polish bank, but a Euro account, so you send the money from your UK bank in Euro's. Most internet banking is set up with ability to do this international transfer, and you just enter the IBAN and SWIFT code. You should choose Euro's as the currency you send, and the currency exchange gets done at this end. There are fees (£10-15 all up), so it makes sense to send a good wedge. PM me if you find any other good methods. Need to have a back up.
cheers,
PTF

Getting BTC in UK
The best way is to find a trusted "BTC Seller" on bitcoin-otc with high rating
Usual prices are Intersango & Mt.Gox rate + 5%
Use IRC channel for more info
-
I'm going to give btcdiscreet at localbitcoins.com a try. They seem pretty legit, have good feedback, allow bank transfers. I will update if I have any luck with them.
Good luck guys, we're all in the same boat it seems. I'm hoping that this doesnt have too much impact on domestic vendors in particular, as I would rather buy on the street than import.
-
I got bit by MtGox's problems too - there's now a few hundred of my GBP floating in the ether 'til they sort it.
Buying BTC by bank transfer doesn't strike me as a massively safe thing to do. Unless I'm mistaken it wouldn't be hard for LE to subpoena the vendor (mtgox, intersango, whoever) to ask where BTC came from, and they could pass on your bank details, from which they could easily get an address etc. Which is why I was happy doing cash deposits with MtGox.
Cash for BTC through the post seems like it could work, but obviously the chances of getting scammed (or fucked by royal mail) are pretty high. I don't live close to any bitcoin vendors on bitcoinlocal. Is there a safe-ish way to buy BTC through the post, e.g. with a reliable 'vendor rating' system, like SR uses?
-
Actually, reading more, it looks like bitcoin-otc is the obvious choice, at least for those of us who are happy to learn new stuff (which being on SR, is quite likely). I think I should be able to find a trader who will deal with cash in the mail, but even if not, bank transfer isn't as dangerous as the risks of a trader being approached by LE should be way lower than e.g. MtGox. Exciting times ahead.
Underground markets fun and interesting :)

bitstamp works fine
£9.50 Halifax charge

Check out my post explaining the general bitcoin-otc procedure (i.e. from wanting bitcoins to getting them in a wallet, ready to ship to your TSR wallet). PM me if you have any questions, proper write-up pending.

following reading this thread, i've sent 110 gbp in euros to intersango's polish euro account with natwest, for a 10 pound fee. i'll update whether or not this was successful. all indications are positive 8)

Did you transfer the money in Euros of USD? was this a sepa transfer?
-
localbitcoins is probably the most anonymous way to obtain your coins, lots of sellers offer direct bank transfers so you dont even need to be that local, just find someone selling at the price you want to buy.

Interested to hear the outcome and what you thought about it overall.

Just noticed today that Bit Instant now have a 'Bank Transfer > Bitcoin Address' option for the UK (select the flag at the top of the page). Went through the motions on the site, but my bank isn't one of the ones listed (Nat West, Santander, and few others) so I couldn't try it out. Paying into a bank with cash doesn't seem to be an option unfortunately, but I'd be interested to know if anyone in the UK uses this service successfully.
-
I'm new to SR but to get my bit coins i downloaded barclays PING IT app for iphone and then just go to http://blockchain.info/ and buy coins!
its so simple, better than wire transfers and all that crap!!
-
I done my first transfer a week ago to buy bitcoins.I used Mt. Gox to do this, i wanted to send 150, but the cost to do an international bank transfer was 30..so all in i transferred 180. Got the coins after 4 days for the transfer to go through.
Also today i thought i would try Bitstamp, i sent 100 through SEPA, i think it was 10 i got charged to do this. But the money was there in an hour and a half! so i just bought the coins straight away. Certainly alot quicker using bitstamp and the SEPA method.
I'm willing to buy ukash vouchers once i find a shop that sells them, and give that a go.
Just new here but so far enjoying having a good look around and learning a shit load from the forums!
Cheers all

blockchain.info PingIt rocks! Took about 30s after sending payment to receive my coins. Much better than sending to some dodgy polish bank.
If you have a rooted android phone you need this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot&hl=en
-
the euro transfer is complete and it was successful!
i'll look into the ping it app though, sounds simpler and gets past the 10 pound fee
-
I originally got my first bitcoins through MtGox before Uk transfers were stopped. Since then found it hard to find a way to get some without paying over the odds which I really didnt want to do. Blockchain pingit seems the best way but I dont have a smartphone so cant use it. I finally used Bitstamp last night and I'm pretty happy with it. Transferred 170 euros or £144 from my bank account, had to pay a £9.50 fee, but only afterwards found a code for Halifax that takes £2 off, GOHX10 for anyone with a halifax bank account. Ended up with $219 in the bitstamp account, so lost around $10 as well as the £9.5. Bitcoin prices not too bad either, basically the same as mtgox. So anyone trying to get coins I would suggest pingit or if you cant do that bitstamp.
-
I've finally got some Bitcoins through Intersango!
I did a bank transfer through their Euro account, paid a £10 bank charge and the money was in the next day. Not a problem.
What took the most time was the exchanging for Bitcoins as I didn't set it as market value so while I was trying to get value for money, it did take over 2 weeks for someone to accept my offer, which was pretty much near to market price anyway. Oh well....
So to anyone that might still be a bit lost, although this thread has had some great advice and I'm sure people will be pointed in the right direction now, I recommend the Intersango method.
Also I got a reply of PrincessHIGH with some suggestions, she was a great help but I'm not sure if she is still PMing people
-
does anyone know if you have to go to barclays bank to verify pingit?iv downloaded pingit and verified the code and the screen now says "to remove account limits take ID and proof of address to account verification service" which seems a bit awkward considering im not with barclays.can it not be used without out "removing limits"?
Same here dude im having the same problem, just when you think youve got it. it ll goes tits up!
