Title: Access Denied - Liberté/tor and bitinstant
Post by: bauMAU5 on November 07, 2012, 11:10 pm
I’m using the latest build of Liberté on a USB stick which has a torified version of firefox. Anyway, when I attempt to log on to bitinstant I get the following msg.

Access Denied
The owner of this website (www.bitinstant.com) has banned your IP address (xx.xxx.xx.xx). (Ref. xxxx)

I was wondering if anyone here among the greatly esteemed SR community may have any thoughts on this.

thnx,

Bitinstant is under DDOS attack
On this clearnet forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=122882.new) someone suggested blocking TOR nodes as a possible solution to the issue so i'm guessing there are temporarily blocking TOR until the issue is resolved

Thnx for the replies - a real pain - but sort of glad I'm not the only one having the same issue

Generally speaking, it is not a good idea to access sites such as Mt.Gox, Bitinstant, your own Bank, or any mail Tracking site with TOR, since they can easily spot a TOR access and may block your account or report it to some LE authority or so some people believe. Better to be safe than sorry, so don't put it to the test.

One thing that I often do in cases like this is simply take my laptop to a cafe or local hotspot and do it from there.

yeah bitinstant is blocking all tor connections right now, i don't buy the ddos story, i think feds are coming at this by shutting down anonymous money transfers

basically time to start taking the laptop to starbucks

Using public WiFi is not enough, be sure to spoof your MAC addresses people.
