Title: What materials do I need to use a pill press?
Post by: foxymeow on April 13, 2012, 05:11 pm
I have a friend who has has a pill press in their possession but we need to know what exactly we need in order to use it. What fillers do I need and where can I buy them? Also where do I buy the color dye?

How would I mix the filler so that each pill accurately has the same amount?

Looking to press some 6-APB pills and maybe 2c-b pills as well.

One word, math.

Do you remeber saying to yourself in your high school algebra class "when will I ever use this shit?"

Well you need algebra to do what you need to do.

To work out how to dose each pill:
- Press blank pills with desired filler only.
- Weigh them.
- Calculate product to filler ratio depending on what dose you want to have in the pills.
- Mix very well
- Press and see how many pills you got out of the mix to work out real filler:product ratio

Some people just use lactose as a filler. Some people use Microcrystaline cellulose and Magnesium stearate. The later generally makes for more professional looking tablets, but is generally more expensive too. None will be hard to find.

Most places which sell dyes will sell pharmaceutical/food grade dyes.
