Title: Whole poppy pods - not crushed
Post by: Nancy on January 07, 2013, 10:07 pm
Hi!

I live next to a farmer who grows a lot of poppy.
I could buy the harvested poppy pods and sell them here if you are interested.
They are not chemically treated, he only uses machines to shake the poppy seeds out.

Shipping would be more expensive and less stealthy than the crushed pods because they need more space and won't fit in an envelope.

Please leave a message and tell me what you think about it!

Count how many pods fit into a 20" by 20" box, and how much it would cost.

Depends if you're domestic US or not. Can't imagine whole poppy pods making it through customs unless you're really good at stealth.

For domestic, you'd probably need to use a large priority mail box of something like that. Vacuum seal those babies.

If the price is right, I think you would be able to sell out your harvest in no time. Big question is what is the right price? By the pod or by the pound?

Thanks for the feedback.

I would ship from Europe. In my country it is legal to grow poppy.
But you are not allowed to export them.

I have no experience with shipping to the USA.
I would cut the stem and ship only the pods, but I can't say if they go through customs.

First I do some research e.g. how many pods fit in a package and some price calculation.
But I won't sell low quantities because I would pay for the smallest package about 10-15€ for the shipping.
