Title: FoodSaver Handheld Vacuum Sealing System Reliablity
Post by: quinone on March 27, 2012, 07:10 am
Has anyone ever tried this portable vacuum device they make, it's considerably cheaper then a full foodsaver vac machine, $25 vs $150:

[Clearnet] http://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-FSFRSH0051-FreshSaver-Handheld-Sealing/dp/B002FWIVCA

Are they reliable at all, can they only be used to seal specific sized bags?  Anyone care to explain, kinda don't vacuum seal food myself heh.

I would not recommend using this system, but I do personally own this and use it for food all the time.

i've recently bought the vac. seal. machine - food saver v2860 kit and it's worth every euro! if you really want a quality vac. seal. machine you have to invest in some quality product! the cheaper products are mostly more difficult to handle or don't seal to 100% or have 2x separate steps... - which make the whole process even longer... - get yourself a food saver! it's the right choice, believe me and easy to learn with the quick start guide!  :)

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

DO NOT USE A "SEALER" THAT RELIES ON A FLAP ON THE BAG.

The end result is about as "sealed" as the backside of a DuPont Circle Meth Whore.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Crimp with heat is the only way to go.
