Title: Mining Rig
Post by: Cgault on November 16, 2011, 08:19 pm
I would like to get some prices on plug and play, high end, BTC mining rig. I am shopping and listing the components, but I would pay a premium for a ready system that was pretty high end (I am budgeting +>5K $ ) and expandable. I would also want an ongoing support  / collegial relationship with the vendor, and might want a real world contact - possibly, have not decided yet. I am a well established SR buyer. I am ready to indulge my hobbyist sentiments into mining. Post a PM or reply to cgault@tormail.net

Really it's not that hard to buy parts on Newegg and build a rig yourself. Plus, Bitcoin mining right now is a pretty bad idea unless you want to do it just for shits and kicks and have money to blow.

On that note, you can also go to places like digitalstormonline.com if you'd like. They build rigs.

yeah, it would be a hobby - Im just interested in computing horsepower, and mining seems a more interesting activity than gaming.

no profit left in it, but it will help keep your house warm thru the winter. (assuming youre in the northern hemisphere)

Unless you are stealing power or at a college with free electricity it is not worth it.

I'm not sure why you're looking here for mining rigs, Cgualt. You're much better off asking here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=44.0.

If I were going to set up a serious mining rig I would design a custom chassis (for ventilation) and look for cheap no frills mobos that support Crossfire.

Good advice, I will do that.
