Post by: JuanChapin on June 05, 2012, 09:01 pm
Whats up everyone! Anybody on the road know any good techniques to making compressed bud (vac sealed) a lot more soft and fluffy?

Put it in a jar for a couple of days with some orange peel :)

Put it in a jar for a couple of days with some orange peel :)

I find it better to replace the peel daily.

The orange peel thing works but also introduces a high risk for mold.  Happened to me the first time.  I'd take compressed weed over moldy weed any day.

I've since found a MUCH better solution, not just for softening but for keeping weed fresh over a period of weeks or months.  Search Amazon for "cvault" and be amazed.  These metal containers are airtight, nigh indestructible, and have a slot for a 'humidipak' pouch.  It's the humidipak that's the real magic; it uses very simple chemistry to maintain the inside of the container at 62% humidity for several weeks.  When it finally turns solid, you can buy more for a couple bucks each.

I've found the medium CVault is big enough to store all my weed (I'm not a big hoarder) as well as my grinder, and keeps it all beautifully dank.  I also ordered a bunch of organza bags to keep my strains separate while still letting the humidity in -- these are those silly little see-through bags people use for herbal sachets or wedding favors.

The only downside of storing it all together like this is that all my weed starts to smell the same after a while. But since most of it is Fleetweed OG, which smells great, I'm okay with that.   ;)  (Thanks Muskabuzz!)

Don't let the orange peel touch the bud directly.

Thanks a bunch for the input guys!

I have just been opening my jars 2 times a day letting the bud get some oxygen i am experimenting with other things as well.

I've generally just put it into a jar with a small piece of lettuce for a few hours or over night. That tends to work without making everything smell like oranges.

Its not what the bud looks like, but how it tastes and works. :P

Although I do really enjoy when I go to trim and get those big ass colas. Haha.

Grind that shit up :P
