Title: Disabling Java...??
Post by: SeekEnlighten on August 11, 2013, 04:30 am
Can I only disable Java during the process of installing the updated Tor bundle or do I still have the option of disabling it after it's been installed?? Should I uninstall Tor and reinstall it and disable Java during the process??

i think what everyone is recommending and what i do is to first, go to "edit" at top taskbar, then down to preferences, then to content and disable it there
then in the "NoScripts" icon, go there to make sure "allow scripts globally (dangerous)" is disabled in both the "general tab" and the "appearance" tab

i also forbid everything i can
and do that everytime i load up tails

fwiw

The browser bundle shouldn't even recognize that you have Java installed, since it has no Java plugin and is isolated to its own folder. What people are recommending now is to also disable JavaScript, because Freedom Hosting users were identified through a JavaScript exploit.
