Title: Smartphone Encryption
Post by: HubertCumberdale on August 14, 2013, 07:15 pm
I've been looking at smartphone encryption - my phone doesn't get used for illicit activity, I just don't like prying eyes.

The issue I'm having is this: You can either go with a military grade encryption for the tune of ~$300/month or $2200 for a life-time - or you can go with some apps that aren't cross-platform, so you can't use it if you have contacts that use an iPhone if you are on android, and vice versa. The best bet that I've found is Silent Circle, but they seem to be getting terrible reviews and the "plans" portion of their website kept saying it didn't exist.

Does anyone have any decent solutions to this?

Be careful with Silent Circle, looks like the US gov't is trying to have them add in backdoors to their service(s):

Ooo. Sketchy. Thanks for the article.

Any word on redphone? It seems promising, gets good reviews..
