Title: How do I approach a letter from customs?
Post by: Creatio on September 21, 2013, 01:37 pm
An item i ordered was seized, and a letter was sent to me from the U.S. CBP. What should i do now? Send a letter back telling them that i abandon the property? Ignore the letter altogether? Also: is my address now on any sort of "hot list"?

I've been doing some reading about the system behind package seizure, and I'm not too worried about this love letter from my friends at the CBP. I'd love some advice, though, if anyone would like to offer some.

Thanks.

Your best bet would be to stay calm and try not to worry too much about it.  It sounds dumb but if they really wanted to get you, I do not think they would go to the trouble of sending you a letter.  I have had a couple of them in my time and it never came back on me.  Relax...

Hold a mirror up and walk backwards like Perseus.

Seriously though just ignore it. Definitely no need to panic but I'd have SR orders sent to a friend's house from now on.

Good advice given here, 100% always avoid these letters. USPS will deliver them to you directly to prove you got it, but after that just pretend you never got it or play dumb.  Don't approach it at all.  Leave it alone.
