Just saw an add on tv for the project saying they have a "cyber drug lord" on the program this week why the fuck would you talk to the media and bring more unwanted attention to this amazing service/site.
-
I don't think the attention is unwanted any more - DPR announced that he had set up a Twitter account in the last couple of days. It has since been shut down by Twitter. On that basis, I am assuming that DPR wants this place to go more mainstream ;)

Really that saddens me, i saw atlantis were addvertising on youtube which i thought was retarded but i just think bringing it to the public's attention is bad as LE will be forced to do something if enough people piss and moan about it
-
i'd bet the person isn't a vender, prolly just someone who knows how SR/atl/BMR work and wants to gather a few bucks for talking more or less shit on TV. modern "journalists" especially TV journalists don't seem to care much about facts as long as the story sounds good.
source: a friend of mine was on tv as a hacker.that guy hardly knows how to facebook. so he sat behind a shdow wall and threw around some buzzwords. made him 500 bucks.

This could do 3 things to our way;
1. Get enough attention that the public has an outcry on how bad this is, then forcing governments to put a stop to it all
2. Create so much public awareness that the price of bit coins will increase
3. Create more competition on SR forcing vendors to drop prices on products
Pros and Cons to this situation that are out of control, there are always going to be journalist trying to make a name for themselves. Its what we do to prepare for the next step that leads us in the right direction.

"cyber drug lord" and he talks to the media, sigh.

The only reason Silk Road is usable is because there is a steady, controllable influx of people who don't know what they're doing.
The newbies are always the minority, and they are taught the error of their ways, and how to order and how to vend and how to use PGP and how to ship things well.
Every shitty new vendor who doesn't know how to wrap a package is going to to go out of business due to competition from more experienced vendors who know what they're doing.
But the only reason shitty vendors don't make money is because there are more experienced buyers than inexperienced buyers, who will discriminate between good and bad shipping, etc.
If a huge amount of new users were to start using SR, it would be a disaster, because the idiot newbies would outnumber the experienced veterans, and they would not discriminate at all when they bought something, and so there'd be no way to tell if a vendor was actually good or if their customers were all just morons who didn't know better.
It would essentially be like Eternal September, except with a black market, so even more catastrophic.

I agree new buyers will discredit the rating system of vendors.
I dont think this is the first time that attention from the media has been focused on SR. Comparing Australia to the rest of world the attention is going to be quite small.

Did this cyber drug lord get parental consent?
It was sad to hear on AM radio the father of that boy that jumped whilst on 2cb.
A lot of people were calling in with inaccurate info such as child porn and guns being still sold and ?why the freight train cannot be brought to a grinding halt
The easiest thing to do is hurt us at our hip pockets... unless they ban the sale of cryptocurrency with cash sale over the counter they are barking up the wrong tree..
Funnily enough the host was asking any current purchasers to call in...none did
Most would agree minors purchasing on here is moral concern would they not?
War on drugs is a war on humanity you cannot win
The only way there gonna shut this place down is catch the dreaded pirate cruising the high seas before slipping into unconsciousness............
The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again
Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
Deliver me from reasons why
You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly
The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I'll drop a line

it's probably one of those vendors who have turned rogue & ripped everyone else off.. I wouldn't think they would have much of a conflict of interest in getting this place unwanted attention.. pricks
