Title: Appraising weed... articles / tips / tutorial?
Post by: dellboy on August 14, 2013, 07:45 pm
Anyone have any articles / tips / tutorials on appraising weed that are very specific or have accompanying photos?

I know basics such as getting the jeweler's loop out to check for mould or additives. But when it comes to other topics such as flushing, it seems more subjective.

For example I have 3g of weed that is a strong smoke, but it has what I'd describe a "Baby Bio plantfood" aftertaste. Also the ash is black and of the same shape as the grinds that went in. Most articles tell me that's poor flushing, but some claim it can be natural too. And articles describing poorly flushed weed as having a "nute aftertaste" aren't being very specific as I've no idea what a nute aftertaste is like.

Would be very interested in hearing what the most experienced smokers also look for in terms of trimming and drying. Articles / writeups with pictures would be amazing.

Well black ash can indicate a bad flush, HOWEVER

- Moisture in the bud (ie slightly fresher weed) can also produce a black ask, that can turn white with further burning
- Bud that is not broken up well can product some black ash

The harsh aftertaste is the "nute taste". Have you ever had perfume on your hands and rolled a joint? That sort of harsh aftertaste.

Don't know if any guide exists that you are looking for.
