Hi guys,
I just had a conversation with a vendor who couldn't decrypt a message of mine and we both don't really know why its not working. Are there different softwares which don't work with some keys? Or can it be a problem when I have a keysize of 4096 and the other person only uses 2048?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Keysize wouldn't matter. You use his (the vendor's) key to encrypt the message, so only he can decrypt it and read it. It doesn't matter what key size you have for your own key.
If the vendor's key size is 2048 then the message is encrypted with 2048 bits. Likewise if its 1024 or 4096.
Just some friendly advice, I think the minimum recommended key size these days is 2048. Vendors (and everybody) should be using 2048 or higher for generating PGP keys.

What error message does the vendor get? No valid PGP data? Some kind of CRC error?
