Title: Safe to buy bitcoins on the openweb
Post by: ryanclark on August 26, 2013, 05:27 am
Ok so I'm new and want to buy some bitcoins for use here and I live in the United States. There are a lot of sites that allow you to buy bitcoins with a bank account which I would like to do. Is it safe to register under my real name on a BitCoin sales site and buy bitcoins with my bank account then transfer them here to silk road? Could it be traced? I always run silk road in Tor but the bitcoin sites say you will be banned if you run in tor so I get the feeling I need to run these sites on the openweb?

Thank you!

Use an intermediary wallet and you should be fine. Also dont tell people about it.

localbitcoins is the best option, they have an escrow service that will hold the btc so it can be released once the seller gets their money.  There are people that also use moneygram, western union, and you can also make a deposit directly into the sellers bank account, that is anonymous.
