Title: International shipping from US
Post by: NeutronMan on August 22, 2012, 08:11 pm
Does anybody know if you can ship a small package to another country, specifically in Europe, by simply dropping it off in a mailbox or even in a box inside the post office, but not have to go up to a window and do everything with an attendant? There's the customs declaration to contend with, I don't know if you can slap it on the package along with the proper postage and just throw it in a mailbox. Will it go through? I don't even want to ask about tracking, I think that's only for express mail and it's outrageously expensive.

Yes, you can quite easily providing you pack properly.  Parcels containing "documents of no value" require no customs declaration.  Pack your goods flat so the pkg appears to be nothing more than documents.  Send First Class ....use stamps for postage and drop as you would any domestic letter.  Use the PO's APC to calculate correct postage and don't over stamp.  Print out the return and shipping address if at all possible

PS..No charge my friend.

Hey creeper, do you know what the weight limit is for dropoffs? Is it 13 ounces just like for domestic? I thought I read something about 16 ounces but can't remember where.

And I can't make heads or tails of that international mail manual thing; maybe I've lost too many brain cells...

Yes, same 13 ounce rule applies.  When you are shipping a envelope or pkg Internationally as documents of no value..it's just about the same procedure and labeling as domestic.  Just get the postage right.
