Title: Pestle and mortar as grinder?
Post by: Locker on August 25, 2012, 10:47 pm
Just wondering, can I use a pestle and mortar as a grinder? I like like my weed pretty fine, which I can't do with my hands. Will I be crushing out the thc/losing potency by doing this?

(For anyone wondering I left my grinder at a friends about 30 miles away, will be about a week till i get it)
Cheers,
Locker.

Probably not.

Most weed is too moist, I think you'll just make a mess.

Pestle and mortars are more for dried goods like kitchen herbs and such.

I bought a 12v electric grinder in Amsterdam. It has 3 settings and the third (highest) results in a powder which is good, but with very sticky weed can clog up around the roach and render the joint difficult to smoke. Also, the blades can get a bit sticky after a while but you can scrape the stuff off the blades and smoke it like a hash joint. Despite its limitations I love the little gadget but tend to use the second setting which seems perfect. A good purchase at 20 euros.
