I am trying to ascertain how I may aquire bitcoins in the UK, but am having incredible trouble in doing so. I would only purchase bitcoins to the value of around £50-60 max so cannot justify the £10 international/SEPA transfer fee.
I read that I may use some website that will transfer money internationally for a small fee, much smaller than using my bank, but I am not sure it is a great idea to use what is effectively a middleman as the transaction would not show up as coming from myself, correct?
If anyone is able to help it would be greatly appreciated.

https://localbitcoins.com/ for cash face to face or bank to bank transfer.
https://bitbargain.co.uk/ for bank to bank transfer.

^^ what mykat said. Not used them myself but UK bank to bank transfer seems the most civilised way.
Does your bank really charge £10 for a SEPA transfer? Mine claim to charge £9 but actually only charged £4 in the end.
I don't know of any sites like the one you mention, but I know bitstamp says it doesn't accept payments from third parties. May be similar on other sites. Bitstamp does let you put a name in though, so you could put the name of the middle man I guess. It sounds like there's just more potential for things to go wrong.
