Title: Help me out
Post by: I Must Hallucinate on December 15, 2011, 08:43 pm
I'm running Ubuntu and bitcoin is just ridiculous I don't fully understand how to use it. How can I purchase 100 USD worth of bitcoins to make a single purchase with a swiftness?

Assuming you've got your client installed, what you do next is entirely up to you!

One thing you can do is go buy a moneypak https://www.moneypak.com/ for something above 100 USD, and trade it on the main site for BTC.

Another thing you could do is make an account at dwolla.com, link a bank account, send funds to an exchange such as mtgox.com or tradehill.com (I think that tradehill may no longer accept dwolla) where you can buy BTC for USD at more or less the value. Once you've got it, you can send it to your own wallet that you have saved in your bitcoin client on  your pc (the receiving address listed in the app.)

There are a few more avenues to take. These are some of the more straightforward.

Check out bitcointalk.org/index.php for more purchasing routes.
