Title: How do you send an image via Localbitcoins?
Post by: Leapfrogger on September 16, 2013, 03:39 pm
So a lot of cash deposit vendors on Localbitcoins are now asking buyers to upload a picture of their receipt with their reference number scribbled onto it before marking the payment complete. This is to prevent sellers from falling victim to the "middle man" scam (whatever that is.)

My question: Can you upload an image directly to Localbitcoins' server, or do you have to use a free image hosting service like imgur (preferably with Tor) and then send the vendor that image's URL? Because I can't see any way to upload an image directly to Localbitcoins.

(I should think that it wouldn't make a difference where I upload the image as long as the vendor can access it, but I don't want to bet a few hundred bucks on it! :o)

Its easy to upload an image to Localbitcoins. Just go to where you can send the seller a message. Somewhere below the text field and by the send button there should be a button for attaching files. Click it, and find the file on your computer. Attach it, and hit send.

Well shit, there it is.

The button didn't show up when I was dicking around with my phone, but it shows up on a "real" computer. Could've sworn I checked with a real computer too...

Anyway, thanks! +1

I too have seen this request for a copy of the deposit slip.

What is the "middle man" scam that sending a deposit slip is supposed to prevent?
