Title: More than 9999 bit encryption
Post by: ikalihi812 on March 07, 2012, 04:50 am
TrueCrypt limits you to 9999 bit encryption, are there better options out there?

there is absolutely no point in using keys that long for modern asymmetric algorithms.

Why's that? All of my Truecrypt containers have 9999 bit encryption for security purposes.

Marginal benefit decreases as your bit count goes up that high.

^Yeah, it's kind of like using the "Guttmann method" to wipe files. If it makes you feel better, do it. Just know that there are no benefits past one overwrite (or ~2048 bits for encryption).

does truecrypt even use asymmetric algorithms lol

I don't think so either, maybe he was talking about keyfiles? But I've used keyfiles bigger than ~10K so that doesn't make much sense either.

LMFAO... prove what you just said right now. There are software out there that can retrieve deleted files if you only go over it once.

kkkk i just re-checked Truecrypt after a long time and it seems that I am limited to 64 ANSI characters(maybe I was in err?)
