Title: Urgent question about backing up bitcoin wallet + truecrypt
Post by: ConcernedLSD on November 30, 2012, 08:30 pm
i have truecrypt running on this computer.. lately my computer sometimes wont turn on

my question is can i backup my bitcoin wallet to a usb stick, or will that not work because i have truecrypt encryption on my computer?

i need help urgently because i may lose my 20 coins if i dont back it up asap

im just afraid if i backup my wallet to a usb stick and then put it on a different computer it wont work because this drive is encrypted and it would make the wallet backup encrypted and not readable on the new computer

Don't worry it will be decrypted.

Yes, exactly OP. Anything you encrypt or double encrypt and hide in TrueCrypt you can always decrypt with pleasure. It's what makes TrueCrypt so useful and important. ;)

This is the primary purpose of TrueCrypt.  Be sure to back up your .dat file before attempting to move the .dat to the USB stick.  Unless I am using a virtual machine, I install everything on my TC formatted drive.   I also suggest investigating  using Tails and putting all of your tools on a TC encrypted USB drive when you travel.
