Title: lavabit and tor
Post by: gong on March 07, 2012, 01:42 pm
Hi there,

Long time lurker but still have some questions.

How can I access lavabit via Tor?

Tails vs linux liberte: basically the same or there are significant differences? I only plan to use such technology on SR via public wifi.

Thanks for the help :)

What? Just go to lavabit.com & log in via the web interface.  It's slow as molasses sometimes & may go offline occasionally, but it's free.

As far as Liberte vs. Tails, that subject has been discussed many times.  Look through older posts or perhaps do a word search for "Tails" or "Liberte."  Basically, Liberte allows you to save settings & it has a password manager, so once you get it all set up it's quicker to get going.  But Tails is maintained by a larger group of people who are always looking for security holes.  Updates are regularly available.  You can have persistence, as it's called, with Tails, but to get this you need to save settings in an encrypted volume on your USB drive or use Truecrypt.
