Title: Beginner on PGP
Post by: moneyisthereason on September 14, 2013, 01:12 pm
Hi
I'm new in this forum and I have now heard a bit about PGP encoding.
Of course I did some research but somehow I don't get.
Is here somebody that can break down the basics to me??
From downloading to reading and sending/

I appreciate your effort

thanks

if you have a mac the below link shows how to configure & use PGP Encryption.
it's great because it shows screen shots of the process.

just saw and lifted this from @ChronicDemon

http://www.gpg4win.org/

Download this.

Install it ( MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS " GPA " WHEN IT GIVES YOU THE OPTIONS TO PICK WHATS INSTALLED )

Once its installed, run GPA.exe

You'll be prompted to enter your name and email ( use fake info, like your Username and a fake e-mail )

Then you'll be prompted to make a password ( use letters and numbers, WRITE IT DOWN SOMEPLACE SAFE )

Then You'll be prompted to backup your key. ( doesnt matter where you back it up )

Then your all set to send pgp messages.

Open up Wordpad. ( minimize it for a moment )

Go to the Vendor's page on silkroad, and find his " public pgp key " Copy the entire thing, and then paste it in word pad.

Save it as " Vendor Key.txt "

Now, go back to GPA, click " Import "

And then locate that " Vendor Key.txt "

Import it.

a box should show up saying something like " 1 key found, 1 key added to keyring " some bullshit like that.

Now, you'll notice under your key will be that vendors key aswell.

to send him a message, you click " Clipboard " type out your message, or address

Then click " Encrypt "

Then Click the vendor's key in the new window that pops up, Click okay.

The message should now look something like

Quote

    -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----

    -----END PGP MESSAGE-----

And boom. there you go. You've successfully encrypted your message and its now safe to send that to the Vendor.
