Title: Changing SR BTC receiving address?
Post by: Oompaloompa on July 01, 2013, 07:47 pm
There used to be an option to change the address you use to send BTC to SR, I can't find this anywhere now. All I can see is the following:

Quote
Warning: Read this before making a deposit to your account

Your PIN is required to make purchases, withdraw funds from your account, and make important changes to your account. If you forget your PIN, or give it away to a phishing site impersonating Silk Road, any funds you deposit to your account will be irretreivable.

Before depositing any funds, you should change your PIN and password on your SETTINGS page. If you are unable to change them because you've already forgotten them, you must create a new account and try again.

Once you are ready, send your deposit to this address:
BTC address

Anyone know what happened to the ability to change receiving address?
I'd be surprised if its disappeared as it wa a useful security feature. Anyone know anything about this?

Exact same thing happened to me a while back.

It is because you haven't made a deposit for a while - it's just reminding you that you'll need your PIN to make purchases.

As long as you remember your PIN, deposit to the address and then everything will be back to normal afterwards, including the ability to change deposit address.

EDIT: Here is the thread I made about it, which has a few responses all saying the same thing.

Brilliant, thanks Frank

Looks like I've no reason to worry, just went to the default page after a certain period of time.

The option is still there. Just go to your account tab. You will see your current BTC address. To the right of your BTC address, you will see, in smaller font "get new address". Just click it and you're good to go
