Title: Pill rattle
Post by: generalm3sS on October 14, 2011, 05:44 pm
How to combat this, I've never had a problem until selling sildenafil (viagra). They rattle like crazy and i really cant think of anything except removing them from there packaging, which as you probably know, isn't ideal.

Teething problems :)

Thanks in advance ;)

Losts of ways to help with this. Get a small baggie and fill it with items. Put pills in a baggie then wrap the baggie in tinfoil. These are just 2 ways that will stop the rattle. im sure that there are many others. Even getting bubble wrap would probably stop the rattle..

they make a type of packaging with insulation. it is brown, with fuzz-looking junk inbetween the layers of paper. i forget what it is called, but you can not hear the pills rattle even if they were in a pill bottle.

If you mean pills in a bottle/container...the best way is to use cotton wool to fill the empty space. If you mean pills on a blister foil, the same approach might work..just use cotton wool pressed up against the pills and then some tape around (maybe masking tape or something easy to remove).

Another approach maybe removing the pills from blister pack and buying some cheap small pill bottles and using cotton wool..just send the empty blister packs with the order so the buyer knows what they're getting.  Incidentally, most prescription meds like Viagra are perfectly legal to buy without prescription into the UK (and probably other EU countries too)  from overseas for personal use (90 days supply max) so you needn't worry in many cases about pills rattling to those countries.

You said remove them from their packaging which leads me to believe they are in their blister packs and it's the concern of them banging against the plastic and foil sealant?

I don't see how you'd be talking about pill containers cuz to remove them involves taking the lid off .... (and we're talking shipping right?)

If this is your prob tightly tape a piece of index card around the foil, it will mitigate some of any sound and keep it rigid

If you mean by the box then just tape the instructions to the side and do so with each blisterpack, taping the bottom side of the blister to a side of the box.  You can also fill the box itself with cotton/cardboard/whatever.

I would just fill the bottle like you normally do, then grab some tissues or some paper towels or napkins and stuff those bad boys in there nice and tight and almost to the top - problem solved.

Last time I got pills in blister pack the vendor punched holes into the back of the blister pack and pushed them against the pills so that they wouldn't rattle, but the holes were small enough to be able to tell that they hadn't actually been removed from the blistering.

A good way for a pill bottle is to put the pills in first then stuff it too the top with paper.

In blister packs i was originally on about. I like the card idea, the putting a hole in everyone is an interesting solution but i can imagine some people complaining about that one. Thanks for the advice

perhaps I am being silly in this suggestion...
but it would seem that the more measures you take the more suspicious your shipment appears...in this particular case at least. I can understand the concern when shipping weed, meth, heroin, ecstasy....but you are shipping a product that many people receive legitimately in the mail.

My company's insurance has horrible prescription benefits, UNLESS we use their mail order system and get our meds in 3 month supply. I dont get viagra from them mind you but certainly some of our 175+ employees do. One of my ex's has used a pharmacy in newzealand for her psychiatric meds for 5 years now without a problem. Shes had packages opened and resealed with "customs inspected" tape. BUT she isnt receiving narcotics, nor is she receiving insanely large amounts....so customs has no reason for concern.

I guess my point is, sometimes hiding in plain sight is the most subtle thing you can do. Keep your viagra in its blister pack. Add a printed pamphlet to your packaging. Ill bet even if inspected your client will receive that with higher success than if youve gone nuts with the foil and duct tape making it look sketchy. :D

I had a roommate who did the whole legitimate receive pills in mail. His insurance covered it. All they did was throw a bottle of pills in a poly bag and mail it. Anyone could tell it was pills. Just got to have a good return addy I guess ;)
