i highly doubt LE will ever get silk road, or they would have by now im sure, but imagine the type of movie that will be made about silkroad someday? i mean they make movies about all kinds of crazy things that happen in the world. a movie about silkroad and smuggling everything imagineable would be a top seller movie for sure
-
hmmm
-
i can just imagine all the epicness that would be involved
-movie narrator voice-
"one world. a crave for drugs.where over night you can become an importer for the worlds purest cocaine, all anonymous, noone ever knows who you are, escape the publicity all behind a simple username"

Wouldn't surprise me, maybe there would probably need to be a bit more controversy surrounding it though I think, tons of people still don't know it exists, so it probably wouldn't appeal to enough people yet. They've made one about Wikileaks, and there's a documentary about The Pirate Bay, so maybe, I'd say there's more likely to be a documentary than a film though.

whatever it ends up to be, i cant wait to tell my grandkids about being a part of this phenominon

This is a bad mentality. Obviously we all hope LE never gets SR, but by assuming that they never will, we allow ourselves to get less cautious with security, which is bad. Never assume LE will never get SR, because that's probably what the founder of Freedom Hosting thought, what the founders of the Farmer's Market thought, etc.
As for an SR movie, I dunno how exciting it would be. They'd have to make it so that the movie depicts SR in the same way that the movie Hackers depicts actual computer hacking. Which, if you haven't seen Hackers, consists of riding on skateboards as fast as you can.

You could have said that for the 5 years that Freedom Hosting was running. On a long enough time scale, anything can happen. One screw up can compromise your operation after 5 years of good security practices.
-
in my mind silk road would seem to be a bigger target than freedom hosting, unless maybe the LE is realising they wont win the war on drugs so their focusing elsewhere? we need to stay positive about silkroad, i think this community is farmore up to par with security than anywhere else. seeing as anytime something happens the community comes together to prevent future breakdowns

I have chronic coming to me from Colorado, Oregon, and California all at once.
I wonder which one will be the most gnarly. 8)

The main reason for targeting freedom hosting was to close down child pornography websites on the deep web, I think most people would agree that that should be prioritised over the war on drugs. Silk Road is probably second.

The Freedom Hosting bust is being advertised as taking down the biggest child pornography host on the internet. Freedom hosting was definitely a way bigger target than SR. Similarly, there have been leaked plans showing the NSA is now giving information to the DEA to target drug users. Things are ramping up against us, never assume otherwise.
My honest prediction for the end of SR is an LE bust. I really hope it doesn't go that way, but that's just my prediction. Doesn't mean I'll stop buying though!

tough to say about the cron, curious what colorados husstlin since the marijuana law changes
i also hope silk road doesnt get busted, however if the time comes, i deffinatly need to be able to reach my vendors somehow, ive found some of the best connections and people on the road

Exactly, nothing that exciting has happened surrounding it yet for there to be a film about, that's why I'd say a documentary is far more likely. There hasn't been enough public controversy arround it yet for it to appeal to enough people to be made into a film (probably a good thing) and maybe a film/documentary about it would bring about unwanted attention?
-
i doubt there would be any type of film made until after it would be shut down, which means it wouldnt have any publicity to gain because it'd be gone , only films i think that will be made before that are news reports
-
Agreed. It would defo be cool to say you were a part of it though
-
can't really see myself telling people about "being a part of" SR...
esp. not my grandkids :/
-
Maybe not the grandkids lol, but fellow druggie friends
-
At the rate the US is going, I won't be telling my kid about SR, but that there was once a time where I could do stuff anonymously on the internet...
-
yeah, freedom is short-lived
-
find your trusty vendors and find contact outside silkroad so you keep your freedom, i've already established my connections for a long time now, i find one good vendor and stick with them for awhile, many of which will continue business elsewhere if silkroad gets shut down

You skipped a generation, you would tell your kids, it's their job to tell your grandkids.
