Title: PMK vs Safrole (MDMA synth)
Post by: jacklinks on March 12, 2013, 08:42 pm
Does the method matter?

Not if the outcome is MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methamphetamine). You're not cooking a cake in which the ingredients effect the end result, you are synthesizing a chemical and if done properly the chemical will be the same regardless of source used. There are differences in the process of synthesizing based on the precursors used but the end result should always be  3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methamphetamine. If they are not fully cleaned the two will likely look and smell a little different but that really shouldn't have much of an effect on the drug itself. One of the steps in the syth process for MDMA derived from Sassafras Oil would create MDA as a by product and since that's a psychedelically active compound it could have an effect on the roll if the syth is not complete. For the PMK route syth goes to MDPBP before MDMA which is a little speedier and if not completely processed might effect the roll as well.

If done right though, the syth will yield MDMA and not MDMA with some MDA or MDPBP left over in it.

Not a chemist at all so the above could be way off but looked into this all quite a bit because I like to know what I'm getting myself into with different compounds.

Hope it helps.

Good info! So when examining MDMA crystals what would be the differences between the two methods? Assuming the wash is not 100% complete. (i.e tan MDMA vs. White)

Bump for this topic
- Also another question to ask is how dangerous are these byproducts for you and is it worth washing your own mdma?

I'm much more comfortable with the typical impurities from the safrole method but I haven't done exhaustive research.  It would be interesting to read the full article text from this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16226151
