Title: 302 error. should we be worried?
Post by: somethingunique3 on November 17, 2012, 08:58 pm
http://zw3crggtadila2sg.onion/downornot/index.php?url=silkroadvb5piz3r.onion

when u try that down or not site it says "Is silkroadvb5piz3r.onion up?
Yes (but with 302 error)"

I'm not very educated when it comes to web hosting, but from googling the 302 error i found out that its due to something being temporarily moved and you being redirected elsewhere.

Could this be a malicious redirect?

I'm not claiming it is, I just would like an informed opinion.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but I would be highly suspicious if you were redirected to another site.  I'm not an expert, but unless its that specific URL I won't touch it.  There's a chance it could be some hacker/LE site trying to steal your info.

As for me, SR is down atm unfortunately.

It's probably a redirect to the login page from the main site URL. I don't get one as I'm already logged in and my session cookie probably prevents it. If in doubt, check the URL!

This guy gets it. silkroadvb5piz3r.onion is redirecting to silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/home

That's why you're getting a 302 error.

I understand why an "error" might spook you, but think of it this way. I'm sure you've seen 404 errors. That means the web page doesn't exist. If you get a 404 error, does that mean the site has been compromised? Of course not. Web servers have dozens of error codes that they send, and 302 is one of them. In the case of 302, it means that the resource you request (silkroadvb5piz3r.onion) is being redirected to another resource (silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/home). Nothing malicious about that. Happens all the time.

good post.
