Title: seeking advice - how to find a trustworthy vendor?
Post by: m3ddl3m33dl3 on July 26, 2013, 10:26 pm
Can anyone provide me with some basic advice as to how I would best come upon a vendor that is reputable, reliable, safe, and secure?

ok BUT seeing as this is all supposed to be anonymous I'm just supposed to trust randoms posting in a forum?  is there some form of credibility that vendors accrue?

Hey there man
I've got a bit of advice since im really familiar with the site and how to judge vedors. Theres a couple ways you can go about checking
A) If you click on the vendors name, it will bring you to their 'vendors' page. If you read the top, it will give a percentage (97 and higher is very good), this means 97% positive feedback. In the same paragraph at the top, it will say this vendor is in the top 'blank' percentage of vendors on the site. This stat isnt as important but worth a look
B) Message the vendor you are currently looking at buying from. Sometimes they'll reply, sometimes not. if there is a response, use your judgment to think if they are legit or not!
C) Check out the forums thread and the feedback on the product your looking at. Sometimes people will write experiences, or simply put 5 out 5 ( good) or less 2 out of 5 ( not recommended)
Hope this helped a bit
Regards
Shades

You've only posted 3 times on the forums.  How am I to trust YOUR "bit of advice." ?

There's gotta be more precautionary measures one should take, I would think.  I'm entirely new to this - it is an exciting prospect but I'm just a wee bit skeptical/hesitant to go to prison (paranoid)

its deceptive just because you are on SR doesnt mean you have to follow the forums i have been on SR for awhile but just recently jumped on the forums because of alot of BTC scams that have been going on , some of which hit me for 2K this month alone, but i mean searching the forums and rumor mills will bring great feedback on vendors from actual customers you can communicate with and get personal feedback with and message to get an idea so you can get another persons opinion on the vendor....but also true the vendor page speaks alot about itself and the feedback rating is crucial , the amt of time as a vendor and the amount of transactions processed, if you have the time read a few pages of recent comments you can get an idea of turnaround times and product quality as well as comms from the vendor, that will help give you a solid idea....and if you are really not sure start off small until you build that trust with a vendor....i have some great relationships with vendors on the road and they are out there and they always take great care of my needs , if you need specific people i can give you some recommendations but if i were you just do the research because you can also find other methods that help you spot good vendors and bad ones, best of luck and i hope you find a solid vendor for your needs!

Yeah, makes sense.  Still doesn't penetrate the sense that you never now who is on the other end of that wire.  I haven't personally met anyone that has used this method of business...So it's hard to trust something that almost seems too good to be true.

Thanks guys

i totally understand where you are coming from, and i guess that is the great but also bad thing about SR everything is anonymous but like you said sometimes is reassuring to know who is on the other end i agree, and dont get me wrong there are some bad scam artists on SR and they do succeed at scams but if you arent in a rush at all to purchase do some research until you feel comfortable , and if you never do than stick to what you know
