Title: How do I make pictures safe?
Post by: piratesam on June 07, 2013, 06:35 pm
I want to build a good rep on this forum, and I will not accomplish that without an awesome PirateSam picture. I'm worried though, with everyone saying that people can find you're location and stuff through a picture. How do I make a picture safe to upload to the forums? Thank you for the replies.

Remove all metadata (exif) from the pictures before uploading. Google for some software that can do this.

I got it, I used batch to remove all possible data I could. Now the only data I can't remove is the file name its located and my pc name, but thats probably just local right? You guys won't see that. I "saved as" the profile picture just to re assure myself and it appears fine. Thanks for the help guys... And maybe gals.

Usually the filename don't leaks any useful data, only the internal counter of your camera, which is not helpful for any spy (I believe).

Anyway, to be double sure, just rename the file to something random.

Hi, piratesam said the name of your pc would appear in the wiped data, is this true?  Is it the Name of your PC, dell, HP or is it the name you gave your pc when you first put it in service?   Thanks,  :-*

It's the name I gave my PC. Why? I don't really think the name I gave my pc is very damning. So people will just know my pc log in name, big whoop.
