Title: UK High Court rules to force ISPs to block access to PirateBay

Apparently it's not enough that these corporations are ruining the world, own our lives, have the government in their back pocket and abuse the judicial system.

Now ISPs in the UK will be forced to block access to PB.

This is worrying. What is next, "people are still downloading copyrighted material, we must actively monitor all sites that everyone is visiting to prevent this." Oh wait, that was already proposed, under the vague as fuck statement "fighting terrorism". But we all know the score really, it will be used mostly for behaviour profiling (and God only knows what they're using that data for), and the enforcement of the corporate copyright circle jerk, that this new court ruling will guarantee to perpetuate.

This is only one or two steps away from full blown police state shit now. This opens the door for even tighter legislation. 2 years down the line they'll be sneaking something else in, no doubt. First this, then banning all torrent sites, then banning torrent/filesharing software altogether, and then who knows.

Just more evidence of the huge gap between what these government sociopaths think this country is and what is actually there in reality. The very fact that the high court has ruled to ban PB proves how out of touch they really are. Have any of these elderly cretins actually used a computer for anything more than word/excell and checking their emails? I doubt any of them understand what a torrent is, let alone how saturated the web is with easy to stream/download films/music/books.  If they don't have an accurate picture of how the internet works (and they almost definitely don't) - then they simply don't understand the issue, and can't understand the issue, because they don't get the real world context. Thinking that banning PB will stop people downloading is like thinking you've wiped out AIDS because you've cured a single person. Sad thing is, these companies realise this and will only push for stricter legislation, (which will ultimately lead to draconian, invasive policies as that's the only real way to stop downloading in any tangible sense).

Frankly I don't give a shit about these companies property rights. Solo artists I sympathise with because they are trying to make a living but let's not pretend that this legislation has them in mind. Last time I checked your average band, selling home-burned EPs can't afford the lobbying money to affect the UK high court. Fact is, these companies charge extortionate prices for their products, where I live the price of a cinema ticket has gone up from £4.50 to £8.50 in the past 3 years.. I'm pretty sure the recession hasn't caused almost 50% inflation, these fucking opportunistic twats.

Assuming you're on an average wage, you're trading over an hour of your life just to see a film. Fuck that noise, I still go to the cinema as a social thing/when its a film I want to see, as does everyone else. I guess that's not enough, these corporations won't be happy until the government starts actively enforcing their horseshit for them.

So these corporations can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not really worried about this. They're just grasping at straws. File-sharing is possible through almost every form of communication and shutting down certain technologies doesn't stop piracy. Even if the bitTorrent protocol was banned, you could still find files on HTTP with Google. Or we'd go back to using FTP. Or we'd tape pirate radio stations. Or we'd meet in person and swap flash drives.

Throwing a tantrum and blocking everything they can block is one of the last steps before they realise they've lost this one and they need to adjust.

EDIT: In the mean time, if you need to use TPB (sans Tor) for some reason, Google's DNS is 8.8.8.8
