Title: running bitcoin-qt through TOR
Post by: spacewasp on June 19, 2012, 09:45 pm
hey, quick question....

i just deleted bitcoin-qt and all its library data and then re-installed it this morning.  I went into "preferences," checked "connect through SOCKS4 proxy", then copied the port number from TOR ("preferences", "advanced", "network", "connection settings")

did you follow all that?

so, now i'm getting the following message from my vidalia control panel:

"Potentially Dangerous Connection! - One of your applications established a connection through Tor to [REMOVED] using a protocol that may leak information about your destination. Please ensure you configure your applications to use only SOCKS4a or SOCKS5 with remote hostname resolution."

whats going on?

You may be using an older version of bitcoin-qt. I have v0.6.2-beta. No warnings here.
