I've gone through all the steps to creating my certificate, I understand how to import others PGP keys and how to encrypt messages to be sent to them, but for the life of me I can't figure out where my public key is listed to be copy / pasted so I can start having people send me messages to insure I'm doing this properly.
If anyone could help me out it'd be mucho appreciated, if you need any more information please don't hesitate to ask.
I'm using Gpg4win, Kleopatra.
-- Have my certificate created.
-- Understand how to import certificates / encrypt messages to send to recipients.
?? Can't find my public PGP key.
Halp!

In the main Kleopatra window you should see the certificate you created. Right click on it and choose option "Export Certificates"
You will get a file explorer type window asking where you want to save the file, and the name you want to give it. The default name if you don't pick one will be the fingerprint number for your certificate - long string of gibberish like this... 051B7A9471EBCD14B5E2E9B669C95A6GFEF4664D
Feel free to name it whatever you want. I would just save it to your desktop for ease of use.
After saving, open up the file you just saved, ie. mykey.asc - use a program like notepad, you will then see your public key. It should look like this: (here's mine)
-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

-----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
Now you can copy and paste it where you need.
The "yourfilename".asc file you exported can also be emailed as an attachment.
If you chose the Kleopatra option "Export Secret Keys" you can do the same for your private key.
DON"T DO THIS EXCEPT FOR A SECURE BACKUP!
Also if you don't choose the Ascii Armour option when saving your secret key, you will not be able to open the resulting file.
I have found that I vastly prefer gpg4usb for it's ease of use and it works with both windows and linux, as well as from a usb drive. so I have the same program when I run TAILS off my usb drive, as I do in my Win7 environment.
Good luck and feel free to send me a message with the above key if you want to test.

+1 firewater.

Also - IMPORTANT - !!!!!!
Make sure when doing copy-and-paste that you get all of the header and footer, even missing one of the - from the -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- or the section at the end will cause invalid key problems. You've got to get the whole thing.

Thank you soo so much! I had actually done both the Export Certificates & Export Secret Keys options figuring that was the most logical option available to access them, just never tried opening the saved file in Notepad lol.
You're awesome man, bump for any others having my same issues and to show my appreciation. If I can figure out how to / am able to give you +1, consider it done. :D

You're welcome, glad I could help.
You can't give Karma till you get to 100 posts, but dirtybiscuitzz718 got me for ya! Thanx guys!

try gpg4usb- its 1000 times more user friendly than kleopatra
-
+1 to that I use it over anything else, although the Mailvelope extension for google chrome works really well too. Lets you use pgp with gmail and you can encrypt locally so google never sees a plaintext version of your message.

oh.. gpg
