Title: Is there a way to make sure I don't get scammed on localbitcoin.com?
Post by: thumbprintfluff on August 03, 2013, 03:49 am
All my btc sources shut down so I gave localbtc.com a try. Found a trader with good ratings ect. We both got kinda sketched out with me being so paranoid. I'm oldskool and not very good with this kinda stuff. We finaqlly just agreed to stick with a small amount to0 start.
Anyhow to get to the point, is there any way I can be sure I'm not going to get scammed? I'm not worried about getting robbed at all, just scammed. I know he will not be willing to sit and wait until they (btc's) show up so any suggestions would be appreciated..?.

if you're talking a F2F transaction, he/she should be willing to wait there until one or two confirmations come back - i've done two F2F transactions, first one was for 1 btc, and seller waited - no issue, we just shot the shit for a bit, We're only talking 10-20 minutes for 2 confirmations to float in. We met at a mcdonald;s where wifi was available (i didn't trust my android to log in to localbitcoin.com

ive bought bitcoins on localbitcoins twice. both times i deposited into their bank account. the coins are held in escrow so its pretty safe i feal like. i had my coins in less than 10 minutes each time. if u do a deposit into their bank just hang onto the receipt till after u get ur coin
