Title: Silk Road on Android (Ainol Hero 2 and Galaxy S4)------ Free Acid-----
Post by: dimitry on July 30, 2013, 11:04 am
Hi,

I have recently bought a "ten inch Ainol Hero 2" Tablet, running Jellybean 4.1. The Tablet came rooted, and has super user installed, along with Orbot and Orweb. Orweb and Orbot have been granted superuser access and i can access the TOR network but not silk road. Any advice would appreciated.

I can get to the Silk Road login page, and see the Captcha and enter it, but i cannot actually access SR. I also get the same problem on my Samsung GAlaxy S4.

Please help, 5 Tabs of Acid to the first person who provides advice that resolves this issue and lets me access SR on my Tablet.

Cheers

Try one of these

a.  In Orweb, press the options key, then tick enable javascript
b.  Try using the "Transparent proxying" feature of Orbot to route traffic of your favorite browser through tor
c.   Download firefox, get the addon proxy mobile (not for proxying traditionally, but through tor)
     Click use proxy,
     Socks host = 127.0.0.1
     Socks port = 9050
Start orbot, firefox should now be routed through tor (plus you get a browser with tabs)
This isn't good security practice, but I'm fairly sure it's not too much worse than orweb.
d.   Use onion.to (worst solution by far imo)
e.  Use VNC to work on your computer using your tablet.  Fairly inconvenient

you need to add silkroadvb5piz3r.onion into the whitelisted cookies list.

open orweb, go into settings... all the way at the bottom

The others have already answered you but I recommend wiping that tablet clean and reinstalling android if you haven't already. I wouldn't trust a 3rd party not to install malware which could compromise security.

Orbot and Orweb were both developed by the same people who made tor... highly doubt theres any malware.

BUT good job for tryin to look out. ;)
