Title: Can someone help me with PGP?
Post by: superdank10 on October 10, 2011, 06:50 pm
I don't understand what PGP is or how it works. How do i send messages to other members with PGP encryption?

How do I get a key and what do I do??

Read the stickied tutorial right above.

You must combine you public key with recipient's public key to encrypt a message.

I have a mac, and I tried everything it said, but I can't figure out what to do once I generate my key. It will not give me my public key and says nothing's imported.

Are you using PGPTools?  If you are I suggest just uninstalling it and using command line, it never worked half the time for me and just caused way too many problems to be convenient.

Read this:
http://www.robertsosinski.com/2008/02/18/working-with-pgp-and-mac-os-x/

Its a very good tutorial on how to set up PGP through command line explaining everything from setting up your key and saving it to encrypting messages to other people.

Honestly though, I would suggest installing Linux on a partition on your computer.  I used my mac for a while but I just didn't feel safe and having a dedicated system for tor with a encrypted home folder and everything makes me feel much safer.  It also assures me that I am not shitting where I eat.  Or even better, on a external drive so you can easily trash it if need be.
