Could somebody with expertise please chime in? Is the maximum purity for Cocaine in the same way that 84% is the maximum purity for MDMA. Seen 88% pure cocaine with no adulterants being thrown around alot lately. any opinions or insight welcome..... Discuss

When they "test" it, they convert it to a base and that is maximum 89% purity.

Could you elaborate more?

They make the cocaine into crack. Sodium carbonate and water are bound to the cocaine as impurities.

The hydrogen chloride group is present in cocaine, as it is in MDMA. If the HCl group was not present, you'd have crack cocaine (or freebase MDMA, an oily liquid).
The percentage of freebase depends on ratios of the masses of the pure (or "freebase") drug, to the common compound salt containing that drug:
molar mass of cocaine: 303.353
molar mass of HCl: 36.46
total molar mass cocaine.HCl: 339.813
Amount of cocaine in cocaine.HCl: 303.353/339.813 x 100% = 89.27%
You could make MDMA or cocaine phosphate, acetate or any number of salts, and the percentage of "freebase" in the salt would vary according to their molar mass.

Thanks guys! I understand all that stuff, I just don't know all of that off the top of my head.

so the highest percentage of powdered cocaine can only be 89% ?
