Title: Harmless Observations and My Thoughts on Issues with these Forums...
Post by: Alternity on April 01, 2012, 02:26 pm
I was trying to read a review thread yesterday and I maybe read 1-2% of the 300+ posts and skimmed a dozen or so. Speaking as a Bluelight member of 12 years now, and I rarely visit, just recalling them; it made the core flaws of SR Forums so much clearer than I'd cared to realize before. A cursory glance at the vibe produced by the majority of posts here shows that probably half the members are kids under 18 and many are really young. The utter lack of maturity and any semblance of decorum is just tiring and gets in the way of the few who make relevant contributions.

Those being namely a Review sub-forum  intended to be effective and easy to use which of course it is not. I'd overhaul what it is now and streamline most aspects to best serve their purpose. For instance, cut off reviewing privileges to those who don't have some level of transactional experience (w/e that is deemed) and don't post reviews. The majority don't need read/write access, just read access to read the reviews from honest customers who shop here a lot. (Unless this forum template prevents the next idea) I don't see why a Dedicated H Review thread, as example, needs over a hundred pages. Why does the creator of the thread simply edit/update the ORIGINAL topic post with the latest news/vendors/review averages. Each review thread post 1 should be perpetually updated as an area to consolidate the shifting reality in the store.
I'd also make review Polls only allowing for people to vote their favorite vendor for a section.

A last thought on stopping the type of scammer vendors the current situation is encouraging/not preventing.
Do the math necessary to determine an adequate "Security Deposit". In addition to the fairly high cost to buy a vendor tag, the volume of rubes makes back that money too fast and easily. Basically, a vendor would have a shifting % of their sales withheld from them. Over increasingly shorter time frames the vendor gets paid chunks of their earnings. A rolling reserve like eBay uses is the idea. The often outrageous prices should by design yield just enough instant funds to purchase product and supplies so that establishing a rep and then taking a bunch of peoples cash would not go to them less the initial % making them lose more money than they could scam since it takes a bit of time until full profits are even fully given to the vendor. It's also incentive not to be dishonest otherwise you forfeit funds not yet distributed back to you. Just my thought, no need to freak out over this one opinion. All else is my observations.

I just pray that no 14 year old buys Heroin and fatally overdoses from product that can be directly tied to SR as the source.

Best Regards,
-Alternnity

Either way, young people will get drugs if they want them.

Either way, young people will get drugs if they want them.

that is the whole point of harm reduction. i in no way endorse young children to do hard drugs, but if they are going to do them, at-least let them actually get the drug they are looking for. that is the definition of harm reduction. not generally agreeing to people's lifestyle, but wanting them to be safe anyways. I think the forum is set up fine honestly but to each their own. im just glad this place exist.

There are many good ideas and valid points in the post. Though I'd streamline things a bit and break down the ideas (if only for digestibility's sake) with some alternatives.

As to scam prevention, staying in escrow is the best option. A dealer who requires FE is transmitting to the world that he is not adequately financed. If he's honest, he's going to use your money to go buy your selection from another source. If he's dishonest, you've been had.

On paper it sounds like a great idea. But the idea in action has some little flaws. First for most, is this, Your making the commuinty focus on certian people. Why is this bad, well as we all know, Drugs effect different people in different ways. Dosage are different, they have alot of variables that effect the experience. There is no short cut easy way to do research, and know exactly what your getting into until you try it. As a user, I feel its up to you do the research, and not go into any drug blind. To find out the answers, and learn about what the drug is. You cant hold everyones hands, and say yea, It going to be the exact same thing that happen to me. I mean I get what your saying there is alot of bullshit to read. Alot of young people posting, or older people that are new to the culture, or have yet to grow up. If you start limiting there post you might limit some really useful First Time post, about how it was, that could be informative. All in all Regulation on speech is not a good idea, organization of topics to make it where the smart post are separated from the dumb one, That would be a good idea. Polls and what not, are great idea.

Now my point of view on kids on sr. To me, your always going to have the computer savvy teens, that are learning about illegal or cutting edge stuff. But its a double edge sword, Make stuff easy, kids can do it. Make stuff hard, you lose customer base. And you limit vendors. Truth is better buying drugs on the internet the going out searching for them on the street. I am not around a lot of kids anymore, sooo I dunno if it still true. But when I was about 14, I wasn't looking for hard drugs. I don't think a lot of kids are to be honest. When you get those few cases that have gotten into hard drugs. Its peer pressure, Not because they woke up one day and was like, What is METH like. Just my thoughts.  sorry for the misspells and grammar errors

kids and sr drugs-

agh the ageless topic. this whole system (tor, gpg, bitcoin, etc) makes it difficult for 95 percent of kids to use SR.  id like to say i hope vendors could pick up on young teens by the way they talk/respond via messages but i doubt it there fucking drug dealers not child councilors (i dont know how d boy dealers live with themselves and sleep at night).

how many times have you seen a hero talk about this (i was one too)..i must say this is the most passionate one i seen to date. but still an old topic that can only be fixed with the compromise of SR or wait that wouldnt stop nothing..

this guy cares and a lot of us do! (i use too make posts about this to because it irked  me as well, can i suggest staying away/limiting your forum activity or better yet sobering up. )

its hopeless just like the war on drugs or not dying someday. owell this is a good guy people and a role model for adults here and sorry if i sound a bit sarcastic because this is one topic i like being seen brought up frequently

this is all fucking anarchy and  any thing fucking goes and dont be fooled there are no rules, age limits, government just drugs and fucking guns, sure you can meet cool people here blah blah..you get it?

so with that last sentence said when it comes to topics on SILKROAD opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they are all shitty (unless your reviews vendors and posting tested products/ teaching noobs how not to fuck up there first buy)

thats my rant..and according to my theory  it  was pointless!

i agree with most of your observations perky, but i disagree that there are not kids on sr. there are alot of famous child hackers now a day. usually to become something difficult like a computer engineer, you have to be interested at a young age. i think its perfectly plausible that we have some kids around here, but i think 13-14 would be the youngest.
