So lately is a common tactic to do so. And i am okay with this as soon as a guy is known seller. Unfortunately bitcoins lately are too unstable. I too have done so once and everything went well.
BUT for gods sake, and i am an atheist, why do you instantly post your feedback and dont wait to receive the item? It wont go away. This is your defence when you finalize an order early. Why then pay threw SR and pay another 6% for SR?
Wait for the package to come and then post your dahm feedback. You may even receive it and the quality may not be good and want to put 3 stars. Or maybe put a comment about the quality.
nothing more...

you can edit feedback whenever you like. Just go to "my feedback" in the account menu.

We do it to take care of our vendors.
You can finalize without putting in a review.
Nobody is forcing you to do that, but it's a nice gesture.
Yes the BTC market is unstable, and I don't want my vendor to get screwed.
I want them to stay in business, and make a profit.
Nothing wrong with that.
A buyer should appreciate what a seller needs to do, and their problems.
If they can't turn the money around, they can't order more stock.
If they lose too much in the BTC market, they will leave.
If you spatz out every time an order is late, and rake them across the coals, they will leave.
In short take care of your vendor, so they can take care of you.

personally if im finalizing early (which these days i will pretty much always do for trusted vendors that ive bought from before) and even usually when im not ill post about the quality of the product here in the forums, if id had a bad experience id change my feedback accordingly, cant say ive had a bad experience yet though so not needed to do it

I can't understand why anyone would finalize early. It is directly against the entire point of the SR and the escrow system. I more or less have a basic trust with any of the sellers I buy from or I wouldn't buy from them at all. I have to send my personal address to them so all the risk is on ME as a buyer they have absolutely no risk. Sellers need to be held accountable. There is no free pass.
They are making a shit ton of money not providing a fucking charity. It is business. Work at a store and you'll see that 5% of the customers are complete assholes and cause no end of problems. It is the cost of doing business. You don't like it? Get the fuck out of the game. There will be plenty of sellers to fill your shoes.
Buyers should stop finalizing early but have to finalize immediately upon receipt. I make sure to finalize the second the product is in my hands and not one second before. I don't care if the fucking pope sent the product.

care to elaborate on that? i might have misunderstood what you meant when you said sellers have absolutely no risk.
that statement made my jaw drop. it is quite the opposite.(unless you live down under)
buyers have plausible deniability, but if a seller gets caught they are FUCKED. mailing drugs is super illegal, i dont even want to know how much time i am looking at when i mail a package. the thought of prison freaks me out more then anything. to the point of me just taking a break for a couple months. maybe even permanently.
that being said, the buyers that finalize early are either new customers, repeat customers who trust me, or its required upon purchase.
to be honest i dont like it when someone finalizes an order without asking me, they see all my feedback and assume its what i want, but i prefer the safety net in case a package doesnt arrive.
and yes, leave the feedback you can edit it whenever you want. its not set in stone

Fortunately, it is up to each one of us to decide whether to release early or not. If we do, we do so at our own peril.
I usually don't release early unless I've already got a few packages from my seller. But once the trust is there, why not?
Its not like these forums aren't here and we can't post.

Leaving feedback before you have tried the product completely defies the purpose of feedback.
I think most of the people who do that are simply tricked by the interface that seems to suggest
that you have to leave feedback if you want to release funds.
Besides, sellers do not depend on the BTC rates if they use escrow hedging.
So there's completely no point in finalizing early.
If you just love your seller then better tattoo his name on your forehead.

i hope youre not a seller, because if you were you would know where we come from...
finalizing early is of course a choice 75% of the time with the buyer, if they want to, they can go right ahead and finalize without it being required. us vendors sometimes need things to be finalized early so we can get more supplies.vendors just LOVE waiting 4-5 days for a package to get there so we can get our money and re-supply on things we needed 4-5 days prior... (sarcasm)
here are some general rules to finalizing early.
1. You trust the vendor and know he is good for it(2-3 transactions) ~96 rep and up
2. You are a nice person
3. You know the vendor has to re-supply and needs all the coins he can get. again, you need trust.
finalizing early is NOT a big deal. it is all the buyers decision. i know a few who finalize early no matter what, especially for small orders (100$ and under), it just depends on how much you are willing to lose. plus if you finalize with a good vendor you know you will be taken care of most of the time. and if you arent, there are these forums and you can leave a 1 out of 5 on their page. sounds fair enough to me...

well, I hate to be derailing this thread, which is actually about leaving feedback when finalizing
early, and not just finalizing early.
still.

Yeah, I used to play around with selling "digital goods" here, before I got bored with it.
So I know what's it about.
sure, if you want to be nice to a seller - go release the funds.
But for most people playing by the rules is being just enough nice.
and the rules are that you use the escrow.
finalizing early is NOT a big deal. - snip -
it just depends on how much you are willing to lose.
agreed on that.

I hear you Californeeya. What I am trying to say is of course the sellers have a certain amount of risk but it is entirely within their hands to stay safe and minimize risk. And I would definitely say that the risk is as minimal as possible dealing through SR. Sure you could get pulled over and popped but for the most part you're dropping a few letters off at a couple of blue boxes here and there. It would be extremely difficult to trace back to you if you take the basic precautions.
Now on the other hand a buyer is sending all of his personal information to someone that he cannot know and trusting that they don't keep the info or write it down on anything and handle it properly and send the product on its way. As far as risk goes I would definitely say that it is more risky to the buyer than the seller.
That said I do understand your point about holding up the money, especially some buyers out there who just don't get around to releasing funds until they feel like it. I don't wait to sample, just wait until it's in my hands to give feedback.
More than anything I was bitching about the page after page of "Leaving feedback early, this seller seems like a good guy" bullshit. I really don't like the idea of that becoming commonplace. SR is still pretty new and the scumbag quotient is still low but I think that will grow in the future. The fee to become a seller isn't enough to stop it, you could pay for it in one transaction and fucking rob the rest of the people. I think there needs to be shared risk and responsibility.
