Hi,
New here. Used the search, but it seems a bit limited. I know answers are there, but if anyone can direct me to good FAQ/Thread on basics like:
bitcoins - how to use and how the rate changes
using SR
Escrow?
Thanks

Welcome!
You've already made a great decision by registering on the forums!
One piece of advice I can give that is surely covered in those FAQs - NEVER go out of escrow.
As a new buyer you will be asked probably numerous times by sellers that because you are new you need to go out of escrow.
There are plenty of established vendors on SR that will let you work inside escrow on your first purchases - I have never gone out of escrow and am at 19 successful purchases.
Your selection for your first few purchases may be a little more limited than you like but it is worth it.
Enjoy!

Also painfully new, and I can't seem to log onto the Silk Road at all. Whether this is because the address I have isn't actually the Silk Road but a phishing one I've yet to find out.
Any help with the correct link to the Silk Road would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you bookmark this or write it down and ONLY log into SR from your own reference.
Following links from the hidden wiki is a sure way to have your account (and any other accounts using the same password ) compromised.

Yes ALWAYS look for the "silkroadvb5piz3r.onion"
Even when you are certain, one small mistype could lead you to a phish.
Luckily the url is easier to remember. In the past it was easier to overlook.

remember: finalizing early is okay as long as the vendor has good stats / reputation.

read the vendors profile page
