Title: Android, tor + vpn?
Post by: pathenry76 on August 08, 2013, 01:58 pm
On my phone i have orbot and vpn hotspot shield. Is it wise to run both? Does that add security or compromise it? Also, how do i disable Javascript on Firefox for Android?

I would recommend it, yes.
As all your communications via the phone will be tunneled through VPN and select traffic (Firefox, Gibberbot, etc) torrified it will add security.
You have to go to NoScript's website and download the latest version (3.5 alpha) from the link below.

Now remember not to login to anything SR related via your phone. You don't want anything linking SR to your phone.

Why is silk road off limits via phone if tor is running properly?

It's not Tor you have to worry about. It's the insecurity of the phone itself that's the problem. I use Tor on my phone tunneled through OpenVPN to browse sites. I NEVER login to anything SR related. This way if my phone is ever compromised (LE, angry GF, etc) I have nothing linking me to SR on my phone, keeping my plausible deniability intact. Simply knowing what SR is and viewing forums does not constitute a crime. Now if they have record of you logging in to SR and ordering something on your phone, you have no plausible deniability anymore.
