Title: NEW SR Lotto, Reasonably fair
Post by: Lotterykid on July 03, 2012, 10:04 pm
Hey Guys, i'm new here, and i plan on starting a SilkRoad Lottery, Here's how it will work.

There will be multiple different lotteries described below, and you can choose from any of them

I'll be setting up a number of lotteries, ranging from $5 - $100 (higher ones may be added on depending on how it goes)

The way the drawing will work is a little complex, but i used mathematics to try to make it reasonably fair. each drawing has been given a set of numbers to choose from (similar to mega millions or powerball except way smaller) so for example:
$5 - pick 2 numbers between 1 and 4 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/6 to win
$10 - pick 2 numbers between 1 and 6 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/15 to win
$25 - pick 2 numbers between 1 and 9 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/37 to win
$50- pick 2 numbers between 1 and 13 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/78 to win
$75- pick 2 numbers between 1 and 15 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/105 to win
$100- pick 3 numbers between 1 and 11 (no duplicates, order does not matter) odds: 1/165 to win

therefore giving you a reasonable odds of winning.
There are a few events that can and will likely happen:

Multiple people winning: this event is more likely in smaller drawings, in this event the winnings will be split between participants

No one winning: this event is likely in larger jackpots, in this case, the prize size will increase by 20% this is an interesting event because the odds won't change which means that if the $100 pot is rolled over 3 times, you will have a 1/165 chance of winning $172.80... not bad huh?

To make the game fair, and to reduce the possibility that i am cheating, i will explain the procedure that will be used to keep the numbers and determine the winner...

1. Once you purchase a ticket for $1, and finalize it, you will send me a message telling me what lottery you're paying for, and the numbers you want to enter into it
2. Your number will go into an excel file and will be kept there until the drawing.. if you guys want me to, i can post the excel file after the drawing to make sure that your numbers were there, and i'm not making this up.
3. A video will be uploaded in which i pick the numbers. the way i will pick the numbers is by using the Random.org sequence generator, which will be explained more in the video
4. Whoever wins will have the money sent to their account, and the video will be uploaded so that everyone can see that i was fair, and that the person got their money..

I'm trying to make this game as fair and open as possible, so if you guys have anything that could help prove that i'm not scamming you for money, then feel free to share it, and i'll try to compromise as much as i can and be helpful

:)

As one of the Paranoid, I want to mention the following;
TimeLord created his account two minutes before posting in THIS thread.
The topic-creator made his account not much before posting the thread itself.
The method of ticket-selection leaves much to be desired.
No one on SR wants to have to watch a video to verify.
This is a pure-cash lotto from a vendor that is only 20 hours old.
The pot-rollover absolutely does not favor the buyers.
The odds do not favor the buyers.
There is no protection against multiple users picking the same numbers.
Thus, every purchase has a 1/165 chance to win on the $100 entry, but there is technically an infinite number of possible entries due to different users picking the same sequence.

And most important: With the exception of established vendors, no lottery should ever be trusted. They are all likely scams.

I've addressed everything i believe BlarghRawr, Feel free to reply to this or message me

"TimeLord created his account two minutes before posting in THIS thread."
Yea, i wanted to bump the thread, so i made a different account

"The topic-creator made his account not much before posting the thread itself."
yes, very true, this is my first vendor account, which is why i said in the beginning that I was new, i wanted to make a posting once i had all the vendor stuff squared away (22.50 bitcoin purchase). so i made the forum account last night, and got all the bitcoin stuff to make a vendor account finished today

"The method of ticket-selection leaves much to be desired."
In what way? i figured a random sequence generator would be fair, do you have any suggestions?

"No one on SR wants to have to watch a video to verify."
That's weird, because in the following thread:
http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=14781.msg322202#msg322202
dankology says "Definitely do a video along with the lotto every time, it will bring you a LOT more players thus a lot bigger payout every time."
So i figured this would be a great way to make it seem more reliable, and it seems like people like him would want to watch a short video to verify

"This is a pure-cash lotto from a vendor that is only 20 hours old."
I don't really have much to sell that anyone would want here, except maybe some banned books. I'm hoping to get the materials to make LSD eventually, but that will be a while, as to why i'm only 20 hours old, i explained earlier

"The pot-rollover absolutely does not favor the buyers."
Why not? i figure you'd have a greater incentive to play with a pot rollover

"The odds do not favor the buyers."
Hmm, why not? could you please elaborate on this point?

"There is no protection against multiple users picking the same numbers.
Thus, every purchase has a 1/165 chance to win on the $100 entry, but there is technically an infinite number of possible entries due to different users picking the same sequence."

would you like protection against multiple users picking the same numbers? i figured i would try to keep it really close to the real lottery

Sure, i'll agree that it could be a scam, although i'll tell you it isn't, but that's my word only, however, i'm willing to work with everyone to make it as fair and trustworthy as possible.
