Title: Simple/Better TOR Connections - Hardware TOR Router
Post by: whiteline on March 23, 2012, 11:34 pm
I'm thinking about starting to sell custom TOR routers that I've designed and built around OpenWRT, the latest TOR sources, and several other utilities to provide a "plug and play" TOR tunnel.  Plug a computer into one of the ethernet jacks and connect the router to the internet (either via ethernet or wifi), and then everything that you access on the internet from your computer gets tunneled through TOR.  No more "shit, I forgot to enable TOR" and doing something you didn't mean to do on the clearnet - if TOR isn't up, the connection won't even go through, and it drops all packets that can't get tunneled.  It's tiny, portable, and super simple (and I'll provide tech support via email as well).

Obviously everyone on here knows enough to get TOR running, but I'm thinking there might be demand for a tiny, portable hardware router that routes everything through TOR automatically.  It makes it impossible to screw up and put identifying information out there on the clearnet.  Also in the works is a little battery for the router, so it's completely portable, as well as the option for powering it from USB.

Anyone interested?  I want to be sure I can make a few bucks on these before I drop the $ on a vendor account.  Thanks.

Fuck making it SR-only. If you can make that router, the entire world will throw their money at you. That said, what're the chances you can make a Raspberry Pi that only ever uses Tor? That thing is a computer by itself already, so that'd be even better.

Also, if you seriously plan to make a hardware-based TOR router, I'd want one. Saves a lot of trouble in setting everything up, after all.

hardly you will get any market for these device here. current TOR solutions free and isn't bad enough to make people spend on something, with inherent trust issues.

you seems like a technical person, what would be great to see here is sort of alarming RFID tag. you can send such tag with mail and in case if mail been opened tag will alarm recipient on delivery and he can refuse parcel. such tags very inexpensive and can add a lot of competitive advantage for the seller
