Title: WiFi network details
Post by: radi8power on February 10, 2012, 06:36 pm
Is it possible that an attacker could obtain details about a Tor user's WiFi network?
For example, let's say my last name is Holmes. Is it a bad idea to use a network name such as "HolmesHome"?

It's certainly possible as part of an application layer attack i.e. if your firefox/aurora/thunderbird/etc. gets pwnt.

No one from tor can see what wifi you're connecting through.

Seriously though, don't put your name in your ssid. Don't make shit easy for people.

Doesn't matter what you name your WiFi network, the network administrators at your ISP know, if they're paying attention, when you connect to the Tor network.
