Title: archived BTC address- What are the dangers?
Post by: honest injun on September 13, 2013, 02:38 pm
Yesterday I received the following message:
You have recently used an archived Bitcoin address (17MPJtRZPDeQCQSKxRJMLuy2C88TXxFEE7) to deposit 0.46 BTC to your account. This address could be retired at any time. It is strongly advised that you use a new bitcoin address for future deposits.
Best regards,
Silk Road staff

I used the address above because it is the one they gave me. Does anyone know specifically what dangers are being alluded to, and if so, why did this address appear as the one to send BTC to?

got the same message today, if you keep using you can end up not getting your coins next time. just go to your silkroad btc address and click get new one and use that from now on ;)

I got one too, I expect a load of people did, they just retire whole bunches of addresses. I always use a new address for every deposit I make anyway. Just get a new address and you will be fine :)
