Title: USPS is slow this month
Post by: msween27 on April 06, 2012, 08:38 am
For everyone worrying about their orders it seems like USPS has been extremely slow the last few weeks.  So keep the faith and trust in your vendor.  Just received an order after waiting for 12 days, usually only takes 5 for the part of the country it was being shipped from.

I noticed that my mail is occasionally showing up a few hours later than normal. Probably starting to feel the cutbacks. On the bright side, this means they have even less money to spend on checking packages.

It's going to get a lot slower. Due to them having no money, I recall they are delaying first class mail to 3 day delivery standards, meaning it can sit in the local station for three days before they bother delivering it.

If USPS had any decent managers they would implement a total banking system like they do in Europe, which brings in millions for them a year in profits.

We should start using netflix envelopes they are getting guaranteed fast delivery due to the amount of $$$ they spend with the post.

Definitely experiencing a delay here.  First several orders from one of the top sellers on SR arrived from Canada to far Coastal USA in 5 business days with not one problem.  Just now hitting day 14 on my most recent order with same, highly trusted vendor.

There are others who've been waiting on similar products from this vendor even longer than I have, but meanwhile in that vendors thread, I see just as many people getting their packages within normal or only slightly delayed times.

Anyone else experiencing delays please feel free to chime in.  Gathering data helps the time pass and makes my concerns seem a little less severe,  however it still keeps my mind on the fact that we are without our sorely desired package.

Much love and respect,

N.

Can anyone else confirm this? I am also waiting on two packages and it unfortunately has been almost a month. NL to US, both from well rated/trusted vendors but I can't sit here and help but worry a little.

You never know when "too long" is too long until it's too late. I am still skeptical. I guess all NL to USA is at a near standstill then...

Greetings all,

Just stopping in to request a quick status update from anyone who's been waiting on a package for over 2 weeks now.  We're waiting on one from a respected Canadian vendor to SE USA.  All previous orders took 5 business days on the dot.

I believe there were at least 3 or so other users in the same boat as I am (in our vendors thread) and just wanted to see if any of you chaps/ladies have received your packages this week.  Unfortunately we are still patiently waiting here, but was hoping to hear some good news from others in my situation.

Best of luck to all who are still waiting.  Love and respect to all.

N.

If the address isn't perfect when shipping to the US, then it has to be manually processed which means a guy sitting in a chair slowly going through a huge, huge pile of mail and manually scanning. By perfect I mean double spaces after the city where you put in the ZIP code.. check Canada post site on how to exactly address a letter. Using 1 space means it won't read and some guy has to sit there and manually do it.

Could also be misread by the supposed amazing address scanners they use and go around the country until somebody figures out there's a problem. But 2-3 weeks is a long time, I would probably just give up at that point and refund/reship.

I've been waiting just under a month for my first order, its from a NL vendor, coming to middle US. I order something from the same vendor a few days after i ordered the first one, neither have showed.
He's already agreed to do a reship on the first order. If i happen to receive the original order as well as the reship im going to pay him for the reship.

I have another order from Canada that's been in transit for about 22 days, seen no sign of it.

Both vendors are very reputable and have been great on communication, so I'm sure its the USPS' fault.

It's just that these are my first orders, so I really want this to work out!

I as well am awaiting a Canada to SE USA shipment from a respected vendor. Today was business day 19 (total days:25).

I have essentially lost hope on receiving this package, however after seeing all of the success others are experiencing, even though this was my first order and I am certainly disappointed with the outcome, I haven't lost hope in SR entirely.

I still have some BTC remaining, and want to know, if my Canada to USA shipment didn't make it to me, is it still safe to ship to the same address? What most likely happened to my package?

I have an event early next month that I would like to have some molly for. What should my next action be to have the best chance of getting some? (Especially since NL success rates are looking gloomy, and that seems to be the only other place I can order from)

USPS isn't doing well financially, plus there is a huge volume of income tax-related mail.

Yes yes, I hope they do so bad that they can't afford to scan packages anymore.

Yeah I hope the reason my mail isn't here is because of USPS being slow. But I've got mail from everyone else except from this one guy in Right coast Canada. It was unregistered mail so I guess that's why its taking so long, but it's been 28 days since shipped date so It should be here soon.I hear his packaging method is very genius so Idk how it can get stolen...

Still no word for two of mine from NL either. Is there a risk if it is taking a long time? Or if there was an interception would something have been done about it by now? Going on 20 days now.

No no, don't worry. The responsible, logical buyers will know better. Just remember you have to communicate if you want to depict the situation. Buyers fret all the time. Getting scammed on that site seems like it would be so easy. Even though I don't think you would!

According to the conspiracy nuts who are partially right about 9/11, Citys, Towns, government businesses   have two sets of books.  One set of books always show them in the red begging for higher taxes etc.  The other set of books shows them  in a pool of green.     I'm guessing the USPS falls in this category.  They are going slow because they are looking for a fat juicy  "bail out".

W/ SR buying all that postage how could the USPS be doing bad??  Doesn't make any sense to me.  Now the USPS going slow because SR filled out their cuts in capacity I will believe that.    They made a prediction  less stamps because of email lets cut our fleet.  Now because of tormail Stamps are flying off the shelves and some postal trucks are headed to the scrap yard to create artificial scarcity.

I ordered three things with my first batch of BTC.

A very well respected Canadian vendor is at day 15 (business day is 9 or so) and it is still a no show, but that isnt looking to bad.

A very well respected NL vendor recieved an order from me on the same day, I got that order a few days ago.

A domestic Vendor, who is not well respected, he is notorious for slow shipping times and possible selective scamming, has not shown yet either..

FML

The Canadian vendor has offered a reship after a few more days. The domestic vendor cant seem to answer is messages, a common complaint for him.

Perhaps, I've been waiting on Skyy for 7 business days but I have faith, it's still less time then what you are all going through. I could see NL and other international orders being slowed down due to 420, I suppose that's the downside to holidays, legal or otherwise. However Kwiktrip and gamely54, both Domestic vendors where on time. That's my data, good luck to you all, stay safe. Silk Road Never say die.

USPS gets ZERO tax money. Everything is funded through postage paid.

SR packages are maybe 0.00000001% of USPS volume. The vast majority is benign business-related mail.

If govt agencies really had 2 sets of books, some low-level accountant would definitely have became a whistleblower by now. The sheer number of people who would have to stay quiet for that to work is staggering.

I'm not even going to get into the "partially right about 9/11" crapola.

Fuck i am stressing.... waiting on 2 packages from the u.s to aus. One is on the heavier side which is very concerning.

I have had a package not arrive about 6 months ago and tbh nothing happened it simply didn't turn up, most likely gave a postal worker or customs agent a good sat night. BASTARDS.... better than a knock on the door thou...

Any1 else waiting from aus? It's near 3 weeks now and usual arrives 10 days on the dot....

Well its anonymous so ill blow a whistle.  I was in PreOps (Diversion Team) and Thermite is spot on.   That's all I will say about your ignorant crapola statement.

The rest of it,   SR is buying lots of postage, its making up for a percent dropped from email,  How many letters are 2oz, 4oz, 8oz.   HAHAHA  That's more than 2.5 3.0 stamps compared to one mailed check, and definitely costs more than Bulk Business Reply at Cost Per Thousand Mailers.

As for your comments about USPS being private.  Duh I know that, that doesn't mean it doesn't have contracts w/ governments.  State Governments, National Congress/Senate still print lots of paper and mail it. The Pentagon as well. Last I checked those particular things are paid for w/ U.S. and State's TAx payer money which would mean that the USPS does receive tax money, willing to bet they get some perks that other private shipping companies don't as well.

Really your dealing w/ an aspergers person here.  I may go wonkey but I score incredibly high in information gathering and retention on IQ tests.

I lost a package this week as well, and got a complete refund. Try that w/ a hired runner, The competition is busy this week too w/ their dead tree 1080 forms, dead tree cards celebrating a book now printed on dead trees, Boring Non technology chocolates from grandma melting on hot spring days not vaccumed sealed, gumming up the works.

I've had runners make off w/ over 5Benjies, They always pinch, they always negotiate a better deal onsite and keep the savings.    One time one of our runners ran off the road, so we had to pay for a towtruck to get him out before the law showed.   ETc. Etc. Etc.     One time I was making a run, and I stopped on side of Interstate for some reason (cant remember)   I locked my keys in the car and it wreaked of High Grade Skunk. This was a zero tolerance state: I paid that locksmith a lot of Moolah that night to get their fast and not say anything.   Ran out of Gas once w/ carload of fresh picked shrooms (sold that SUV soon after that).        Been at it since my first and last Grateful Dead Concert in 95.  As soon as I saw that I could buy something turn around and make a few bucks I was on it ( I smoked my first J there too).

"Yah, well im starting to wonder about my neighbors. I never told them anything about where I get my supplies, but some of them have done time and are very observant. Im missing a couple packages,   (20 Lolli-Pops, and 1 or 2 Oz of weed, Im hoping theyll show if not I think my neighbors got it.

I've been waiting a month for a shipment from a reputable NL vendor and Canadian vendor to middle US..

Both orders have been brought to resolution. The vendors have been really cool and understanding, which is great, but i'm new to SR and would love to experience the enjoyment of getting a fucking package in the mail!

I haven't rolled in so long.. Hopefully these reshipments come in, I'm having them sent to a different address, hopefully that helps.

I  have noticed that several of my packages on eBay do not arrive for say, 10 days, even though being priority/first class, but some are parcel post/priority and arrive in 1-3 days. Even to CA though only one package and I think it was a cut in half bubble envelope.

I noticed that the people who used/had goofy ass receiving names seemed to take longer while the people with "standard" and "normal" names, took less time. Basically if the name sounded white it continued on. If it sounded like "Sheerry L Goblough" then it took 12 days while "John E Willy" took only 5 days to AL from the east coast.

It seems like shipments from california are being delayed and even shipments into if the names are weird. Be warned though, I hack all my packaging together from boxes I store. Things like toasters, dishware and motherboard boxes which I cut and use packaging tape to put back together.

The packages I used duct tape on took longer to arrive then the ones with only a horizontal cut (a tall box cut in half) and packaging tape. So try to use conventional packaging supplies I suppose. I don't ever plan on selling here but I do record everything I ship and what I used in order to price my stuff better in the future.

Hopefully this helps someone out and relives some tension. I always buy either USPS bubble wrap in bulk off eBay or at the local office supplier retailer and those never have a problem but I have read from 3 people that letters usually come under the least scrutiny.

*AH*! Perhaps send larger orders over a couple days, in smaller shipments and from the same drop box (preferably over 2 days so they won't catch on to it fast enough in the event it backfires) with different names from the same local street. So buy some blank labels and hand write the address with a local street name and house number before you drop off the packages. It's a real street and address which will help it get passed along instead of the dreaded "Second look".

Yep now when I buy a big order I also buy a small order from the same vendor.  I explain I am buying the small order to help cover costs of breaking up the larger order into smaller packs and multi addys.           Getting scared now,  They had some gigantic busts 12lb orders of bath salts and shrooms on the east coast last week.  That must of been the farmer boys.   I just hope they arent playing  Operation  USPS campout.

I talked to another silk roader who received their pack from canada after a solid month. So I'm really hoping it comes. I've kept in contact with my vendor to notify him I'm still waiting, but havnt ev0en brought up the if scenario of if it doesn't come.

I've been at a solid month for some MDMA from an NL vendor and MDA from a Canadian vendor, both have been brought to resolution.
