Title: Should you use an RDP?
Post by: antigrid on June 26, 2012, 09:59 am
Is it better to use a secure setup directly at home or to use a RDP on a server rented somewhere else? This question is for both buyers and vendors. Also, what information can/is logged besides IP address when using SR and other TOR services; example, computer name, system time, user agent.... Is there anything else that can be logged? Can these be used (and are they used) to track people? Obviously you can speculate that YES they can be used and rather to be safe then sorry, but I would like people who are more familiar with computer security to answer, who know. Its better to be safe then sorry but at the same time worrying about things that might be insignificant might cause you to miss something else.

I probably should have left this topic to one question as I might have made it confusing. So to clarify, is it safer to rent a server that allows Remote Desktop and RDP into it when selling on SR? If so, are there certain features / things to take into consideration that the server must have, such as anonymity, etc?

..test the rdp session performance over Tor whether its worth the trouble or not; most desktop remote control / web sessions are rubbish over the internet.
