Supertrips sentenced: 10 years

He can spend part of it in NL. Got of pretty ok for being arrested in the US.

I love how just before Ross' sentencing Supertrips makes the statement that he wouldn't have done this if he couldn't do it as anonymously.

He's one of those people who absolutely deserve to be in jail because of his stupidity. But there's also something unsettling about this story. The NL government knew about his identity for almost a year before he got busted in the US, yet they never arrested him and let him vend. They knew because US LE requested a fingerprint check on some of the intercepted orders from Supertrips. Supertrips had never been in contact with the police prior to this incident, so how did they match his fingerprints?

Around the same time as he became a vendor there was a huge privacy discussion going on about biometric (fingerprints) data on passports. About the abuse of this data and how it was being stored. Nobody wanted this data to be stored, and privacy watch dogs where quite pissed about the storage and where ordered to destroy all biometric data. Eventually they ditched the plans for the storage. But this year there here new plans of keeping the biometric data stored.

Now on it's own this may just sound like a crazy theory. But what validates it for me is that the NL police admitted they helped the US. But refused any other comments on how they did it. They never answered the questions to why Slomp wasn't arrested for so long before he traveled to the US. Nor did they respond to any of my questions on how Slomps fingerprints where matched to his person if he had no prior arrests. It's possible they didn't know, maybe this stems from a high level intelligence cooperation. Or maybe the US has easy access to NL (or European in General) biometric data? After the Snowden leaks this shouldn't really surprise anyone. Despite of Supertrips stupidity I think this bust was pretty damn shady.

Another thing is that he operated on a scale he couldn't have possible operated on by himself. This guy was worth upwards of 10m and earning several millions. Not just from vending but solely from the BTC price rising. In some of the early interviews in his neighborhood he was regarded as somebody who liked to spend money. Had more than 5 sport cars sitting in his garage and had the whole neighborhood wonder what was going on. You simply don't run a operation which earns these amount of money by yourself. If US LE knew about him they must have also known about his partners. BUT that knowledge wasn't obtained in a kosher way (bio metric prints) so they couldn't possible investigate or even convict him in the court of law. The lawsuit would be thrown out, slomp would go free despite of the crimes and the police themselves would be investigated. The whole bust never really added up in my eyes. Any thoughts?

is this the kid who had the rented Lambo waiting for him at the airport?

This guy actually vended. He sold fent as H and put people in danger of OD. Likely caused OD's. And he get's 10 years. Ross was not charged with actual vending and he's looking at life? WTF?

"Equipped with only a laptop, an iPhone and a backpack, Slomp shipped 14 kilos of MDMA, 566,000 ecstacy pills and four kilos of cocaine and other drugs through the mail."

Ummm, wouldnt you also have to be equipped with 14 kilos of MDMA, 566,000 ecstacy pills, four kilos of cocaine, and other drugs to be able to pull this off?

Fucking piece of shit

What did this guy vend? MDMA I'm assuming.

[1 Points] impost_r:

Can you link me to a mention of him never being arrested before? My assumption was that's how they matched his fingerprints.
