What's the future of darknet markets?

After seeing yet another market go down, what's the future of darknet markets look like?

Would a direct buyer to seller darknet site be possible? Sellers would be required to have 100+ feedback on another site before being able to become a member on this site. On this site they advertise their product, and give their pgp details and all deals take place outside of any market. Multisig would be the standard transaction method, and there would be no transactional fees for the seller.

Is this is a thing, if not, why not? What am I missing

You're the 15th caller to ask this. I guess you win a prize: you get to code it! Congrats

Pretty simple, I can think of 2 major reasons that are enough of a deterrent by themselves. Also, thinking up concepts and features for markets is not very hard. If these were clearnet sites selling pottery you can be sure the admins would blow your mind with how amazing a pottery site can be and all the shit they thought up. It's not, though, and you have to not get killed, arrested, hacked, DoSed before you have time to figure out how to implement something new without risking any of those things.

First, it's useless without reviews, but if you're not the arbiter of sales you have no idea who the legitimate customers are and who aren't. Faking reviews is definitely possible in the marketplace format as well (though, easily preventable), but this is just a whole new level of 0 effort. Having good feedback elsewhere before entry is a nice touch, but once you're in, you can do what you want.

Second, the motivation is just not there. Someone would have to maintain this site, it would have to be very secure. Not actually for the end user if you're just doing PGP through TOR, but for itself. It would have to resist DoS attacks, hacking, LE... So it's almost all of the effort and risk of a full market, with a sliver of profits and no possibility of exit scamming.

So basically you're looking for a completely selfless person who is into drugs, freedom and drug dealing. They have to take on a huge amount of risk, be very good with technology, have a good amount of starting funds and face established competition (who will want to run them the into the ground because they're far superior) and infinite roadblocks of every possible kind. Oh and it's a full time job at the very least.

Also you probably don't need just one amazing person like this. You need a team of them who all know and trust each other. The answer then is that it doesn't exist because no one made it and no one who could make it is crazy enough to do so.

The markets have always been unpredictable, so we have no way of knowing. Hopefully, a decentralized market with multisig. I can't see it happening for a while though, so I guess the near future will be as it's always been. Great market, exit scam and repeat.

Come for drugs, stay for drama.

I think we are all going to revert back to direct deals.

It is a thing. It has been a thing. It was literally asked this morning too lol. Direct deals were what went on before markets came along.
