Market: DHL
I'd never ordered cannabis in the mail and was fascinated by the possibilities of how this stuff moves around in the USPS so I placed an order on DHL for a small amount of a strain that I had always wanted to try. I was not disappointed.
Sidenote: DHL might be my favorite DNM to order from. The UI makes it crazy easy.
The Vendor: Marley's Main Man. The transaction on DHL was simple and practically silent. I merely placed the order, sent my address and waited. There was no back and forth between MMM and myself and that's something that I really appreciate. MMM is a bit slow to respond, however. I placed the order late friday night and didn't have confirmation that the product was shipped until the following Wednesday. In MMM's defense, they make it clear in their profile that they only process and ship orders Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so I can't exactly complain since it's made clear that this is how they do things. So just be aware. There are faster vendors out there. Also, since this was DHL I had the option to direct pay the vendor rather than go with escrow for a slight discount (5% or 10% I want to say). Taking the risk paid off. Something to be aware of.
The Package: Shipped priority, the box arrived on the high end of their delivery range. Not at all MMM's fault. Stealth was adequate. I would later cut open the bag and release a scent so potent that my entire first floor smelled like a grow room from a mere 3.5g of nugs. So it's positively amazing that until the moment that I opened the actual bag containing the bud that there was only the vaguest hint of raw cannabis in the box. Should the box have been opened, however, though it wasn't obvious just by looking, there was no question what was inside if you were to handle the container inside the box. Maybe there's something that could be done to mask the shape as well.
The Product: Durban "P" (apparently the "P" word will get your posts removed). These were some very nice looking buds. Visible trichomes. Lots of hairs. The scent of the raw flower was very distinct, making me realize that no matter how good the stuff the local guys claim they are selling, their regs are just plain old weed. This was a bud for the discriminating cannabis enthusiast and one that I've always wanted to try since I first saw it in an issue of High Times.
I've had some of that high-end AAA bud in the past but nothing could have prepared me for this. It doesn't help that I haven't been a regular smoker in a while and my tolerance isn't what it used to be but I was absolutely bombed after three ordinary pulls off of my glass pipe. The plan for the evening was to sample a bit of the Durban and play some Overwatch but my "sample" tokes turned out to be enough to lay low Snoop Dogg and there was no way that I was going to be able to perform even the most rudimentary of tasks. I was absolutely useless for a solid 90 minutes. Once the heavy part had passed, however, I was surprised by how alert and focused I was. As to be expected, this was the focus strain that its reputation claims.
In closing: MMM's pace is a bit too slow for my tastes but as far as I know, they're the only mostly-reputable (I've heard there have been problems in the past) vendors slinging Durban "P" and with a product so unbelievably potent I am more than happy to tune my expectations for product arrival in the future in order to place another Durban "P" order.
"lay low Snoop Dogg."
I see what you did there
