Speed lost euphoria effect after acetone washing

Hi folks, I got my hands on some speed "paste" and wanted to get rid of the cuts / cutting agents. I followed a simple instruction. In my opinion everything worked fine: After the whole process I got a less white powder. Testing it, it worked like speed but the euphoria / motivation effect was lost.

So my question is: have I done something wrong and if so, what?

Here is how I washed my speed:

Sniffing the result had a heavy effect on the heart rate. Gulped it was more easy on the heart and it was able to keep me awake. (Did I succesfully washed only the caffein?!?)

Cheers, Nelson

I don't think you realise what you have done. From what I am understanding from this, you have essentially removed soluble cutting agent AND amphetamine. I'm not surprised its worse, because there is probably less there. Out of interest, how much did you end up with after the initial 4g?

Acetone wash takes so little time and error to perform it is silly not to do it, so I am glad you are interested in purifying your product. It is a relatively easy, quick and reliable. It is based on the principle that amphetamine is soluble in acetone, however when the acetone is cold it is much less soluble, but for other compounds they can dissolve just as well in cold and warm acetone. Therefore, it is important to use minimal acetone and at ice cold temperatures at all time. Any water (from the air over time etc) will lower yield, because like the compounds you are trying to remove, amphetamine is very soluble in water at both warm and icy temperatures.

I know you probably understand the method, but I shall reiterate it fully for the benefit of yourself and for others. You should lose only a tiny amount of amphetamine.

You'll be left with a high purity product, assuming there aren't unusual cuts present. You can evaporate off your filtrate in the oven or leave it over night to see exactly what you extracted. For amphetamine you will often see an oily yellow mix with some particulate matter. When starting with moderately high purity speed paste you tend to wash away 10% mass of impurities, only a very small portion of amphetamine is lost. A good thing about this method is that as long as you dont throw anything away, you can always go back to square one by letting the acetone evaporate off and then mixing it all together again.

So what I imagine you did wrong:

• Too warm, dissolved cut and amphetamine

• Too much acetone, dissolved cut and amphetamine

• Acetone was not anhydrous, so small water content dissolved some amphetamine too.

Anyway, I know thats a lot of info, but hopefully it helps and gives a bit of understanding/explanation to the procedure. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and best of luck next time.
