Whats the current opinion of OB2?

Historically I was really skeptical of OB, and was tired of reading the posts surrounding it. Call me the asshole if need be. But now I'm interested, and it has caught my attention. Is anyone actively using this market? If so, how has your experience been with it? Any issues specifically? Is it working with TOR?

I'm a vendor on OB2. Mostly it's been a pretty great experience but as an early adopter there are still issues. Some of the more serious and recent issues have been with transactions. Even with the issues I still love vending on OB2 and I'll never vend on any kind of centralized markets again unless for some reason decentralized markets like OB2 disappear. Fuck giving site owners a cut of my hard-earned profits and fuck hoping every day that I log in that they're not going to exit scam.

As for the recent transaction issues, buyers are making transactions but they're not showing up on the seller's end and then it's apparently a real pain in the ass to get the funds refunded out of escrow and back to the buyer. This doesn't happen to everyone and it doesn't happen all of the time but until some of the kinks are worked out you might want to wait before using OB2.

Given the nature of OB2 there are also a lot of scammers and stupid people are especially vulnerable. You've gotta do your homework, check for positive sales histories that can be linked to that seller via PGP and so on.

The devs have been great about helping me with most of the issues I've found and they're working on adding in multi-currency support. Just recently put out release candidates for ZEC and BCH but unfortunately it means you have to maintain a different store for each currency you want to accept. In the future they're aiming to have everything in a single build.

Pop in /r/OpenBazaar every now and then and you can see relevant updates.

Searching is a bit slow / doesn't work. The actual shop functions are almost on par with dnms.

Will be the only market in a year or 2.

Yea I gave it a try but the search function simply doesn't work for me, I tried on different computers, tor works and some direct Ob2 store links work but when people on Reddit say "oh search this guys name" I try and it doesn't get any where..

ive had it running in Whonix through Tor but took my listings down when btc fees got too high.

theyre implementin BCH and monero multisig is on the way too

My first experience with it was horrible. I opened an account to make a purchase and got scammed. The guy said it was escrow or whatever, and that my money would go automatically to a moderator who would hold it until i received the purchase. after that i had to release the escrow.

Took his word for it... sent my bitcoin to the store wallet... Never heard shyt from him again. scammed. Thought it was bullshyt that nobody at the OB forum would do anything about it. The guy is still vending there too. His store is still open, he just changed the name. There should be consequences for known scammers. honestly.

reposting because i realized i should have replied to the main post. But here is the store address that I had (I since deleted the OB2 app):

SO I think it's a GREAT idea, decentralised etc. which gets around all this DDoS problems most other markets are experiencing - the only DNMs not down ATM are Dream (suspicious in its own right... Not sure why they've been granted a DDoS Get OO Jail Free Card) and CGMC (they have provided users with unique private links, which come with a account deletion warning if they ever become public - genius idea)

OB 2.0 won't have any of these DDoS problems as it's decentralised. And Exit Scams? That's also not possible due to transfers always being multi-sig (i.e. the reason Monero isn't yet fit for purpose). Moderation is another point that's worth mentioning - moderators are not site admins, rather other users - who build up reputations based on honesty and diligence.

OB 2.0 is undoubtedly the way forward, and I'm sure if they had a functional currency they would be nailing it.

It seems following an interview with OBs founder Brian Hoffman they are planning their own coin - I really wish they'd implement something prior to that - new coins come with uncertantity and volatility, two things which makes it extremely difficult to run efficiently and consistently.

The more people on it the better it will become, so I would highly recommend giving it a go and checking in to say hi in /r/OpenBazaar and /r/DarkBazaar

Is there escrow on ob2 and how does it work is it moderators the vendor chooses to choose sides in disputes?

I just spent some time messing around with it a bit. Seems like I need to play with Whonix next to be safe there.

Looked at r/darkbazaar and r/openbazaar, do I have it right that Darkbazaar is just a focus on the DNM side of OB2? Seems like the listings are pretty thin, and some of the shops listed in DB are down/dead.

What I take from my current reading is that the TX fees are killing the adoption of the platform ATM. If more altcoins get integrated, then there is some hope. Am I right so far?
