Say I sent a vendor a PGP encrypted message. Can I go back later, copy the pgp encrypted message, and turn it back in to plain text?
Is it possible to decrypt your own pgp messages?

If the only recipient was the vendor, then no.

Yes, but the message needs to be encrypted to both the vendor's public key and your own. Most OpenPGP MUAs (like Thunderbird with Enigmail) add your own public key to the list of recipients by default, so that you can read your Sent encrypted messages. Not suggesting that people here use Enigmail, that's just a common example of how OpenPGP messaging is used in the non-DNM world.
You just have to encrypt the message to both your own key and theirs. Any message that that wasn't done for will be unreadable except by the person whose key was used as the Recipient.

Some of these responses are full of fail.... Like a few others have mentioned the message must be encoded with the public key of any who intend to decrypt it, this includes yourself. Messages can be encrypted using many keys. You should make it a habit of encrypting messages you generate with your own key and whoever suggested saving plain text messages should be saved in liu of encrypting should stop using dnm immediately.

Not without the vendors private key.
