Info/Software or Advice on "Proveably Fair" Methods Please.

Hello friends.

Where im coming from: I've been lurking this sub since nearly the begining but have only contributed a couple times, with throwaways, when I thought an important security issue had not been brought up. I have extensive experience with markets, silkroad and on but no vending. I am a very inexperienced poster so I am going to have some trouble with formatting I'm sure I would like to set up a shop that is a raffle or lottery for a particular (legal) item. I will probably do one a week. I dont want to say what yet as I am fairly certain this is a great idea and dont want it nabbed before I get my shot at it. Why use .onions? Any form of lottery, games of chance etc.. is illegal where I reside, if it is for profit, unless your the gov. of course.

I was a regular on the pre-blackfriday holdem sights and have been using and trying to understand crypto since late 2012. On a side note, the US gov stole more money from me on that day than any vendor or market to date! I have been reading up on modern, provably fair techniques but would like some feed back as I am sure there is a simple, elegant solution I'm not seeing yet. The markets I am considering are: AB, Hansa, and DHL. These will be high value items and I anticipate some profit so vender bond is perfectly acceptable. Also I don't steal from or take unkind advantage of people.

I know I need to provide more info, but my head hurts. I'm going to lay down and check back later when my noob post has hopefully cleared and I can think clearly.

Thank you to any and all who respond! This community has given me much and annoyed me often, so I look forward to paying it back!

EDIT: I forgot to talk about drugs. METH!!

Here is a link I just found with a possible solution to my provably fair question. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=223997.msg2386980#msg2386980

I think it was Grams that did this a year or two ago. They called it BitBall. The provability they did by using an external and well publicized source of number generation. I think it was the first 4 or 5 numbers of the PowerBall drawing.

Ultimately they shut it down due to poor participation, and lack of revenue generation. I think the whole thing ended up costing money in the end.

Easy; everyone buys a number and the winner is decided by the last 2 bonus ball numbers on American television on a pre defined date.

Not possible with more than two people. Unless you use some trusted source.

The best way to do it without trust;

  1. Have all participants symmetrically encrypt a random number of their choosing.

  2. After a predetermined number of people have submitted their numbers, everyone reveals the key they used to encrypt theirs.

  3. All of the numbers are XORed together to generate the winning number.

The problem with this: there's no way to force people to reveal their numbers. So, the last person to reveal knows if they're going to win or not.

If the organizer is the last person to reveal, they could collude with another participant to do the same thing.
