Using old tenants name for shipping to my home address (UK)?

What are your guys thoughts?

I'm hoping that it would be ok but obviously I cant afford a home search etc.

I do get quite a bit of mail for the old tenants that lived here. I've been here a year and have sent loads of stuff back(return to sender) and still get at least 3-4 things a week in their names.

I'm hoping that as long as I dont sign anything it should be alright.

I do know someone that bought some magic truffles on the clearnet. They got stopped in customs. He didn't get a letter. He had the seller resend and then the police showed up at his house and searched it. It was addressed to him though.

Thoughts?

Your biggest problem would be if they've had a redirect put on their mail, but if you've received mail for them recently that shouldn't be the case.

You don't NEED a name on post in the UK, you can ask the vendor to simply put Homeowner or Tenant on it instead - and if anyone comes knocking you can fall back onto the previous occupants.

If its tracked (which it should be because drugs are expensive), it has to have a name, postcode and return address (false, obviously).

If you use a former housemate and get a card through the door, you may have to provide ID at the sorting office.

If its just posted first class, you'll be fine. Anyone can post anything to your house anyway. Its not your fault.

It's what I do. But thats more from habit than anything else, its not really going to provide much protection.

Would not do it if I had lived here less than a year though. Redirect isn't really an issue- stuff has to be sent to the house to confirm the person lives there, its something you set up before you move.

Doesn't matter whether you sign for it or not, if the pigs think you have drugs in the mail, they can get a warrant. Of course, by that stage, you are fucked regardless.

I am suspect about the truffle story. Never heard of anyone getting a bust that way in the UK, people get letters from customs informing them of a seizure- unless the cops can prove beyond reasonable doubt you ordered them they are far more likely to let the package get to you to catch you red handed. And thats a lot of police work for a comparatively small amount of drugs.

Oh, and with regards picking it up from a depot- all the depot near me want is proof you live there, they don't care if the name doesn't match, you could be picking up for your partner or whatever.

Use a fake name, use your name, set up a fake ebay business, whatever. Doesn't really matter, if the cops are at the stage of being at your door you are fucked, but provided you take relevant security measures and aren't ordering tony montana scale shipments, in the UK, you are fine.

They will be officially registered to there new place though, I think most of the mail you will be getting is companys/spam that have not checked or they have not bothered informing them of the move.

Using the wrong name to address is a key for being flagged, not really worth it. Thoughts? Just order domestic, there are a shit load of UK vendors, OR find a safe place to order too.
