I'm trying to solve the AlphaBay DDoS protection captchas for minutes and somehow I don't succeed. Someone please tell me I'm not crazy (or drunk).
Edit: Restarting Tor solved the issue.
Did I drink too many beers or is something wrong with these captchas

This will often happen when using a link from Reddit. It is due to the browser resetting your redirect to the "capcha challenge page"
If you know your capcha was submitted successfully (you didn't have to guess on the letters that run out of the box), remove the "challenge.php" from the URL and you'll be brought to the login page.
/u/alphabaysupport you can just gold this

I've always had weird captcha issues with AB for as long as I've ever used it. The one that really gets to me is when I go to AB and the login page loads fine without asking me for a captcha, then I type my login info with my ridiculously long password that is fucking hard to type, then when I click login it takes me to the DDoS captcha page and I have to re login after I solve it. I usually also have to go through like 3 or 4 captchas before I get one that isn't halfway cut off.

This has happened to me,multiple times. Try some of the alternate links and you should find one that works.

It looked like on 2 of them it was cut off. When that happens I just hit validate and get a fresh one. Pretty annoying happens at least once every time I try.

disclaimer just a theory, no idea if true or not
if ur Tor has been open for awhile or a new version gets released while ur trying to do that, sometimes the picture alphabay shows you is not the real actual caption (back in the day I used to have to click and drag the caption into a new window to see the real captcha)
This is my theory one what is happening here. It is a somewhat old bug that might have recently resurfaced with the new version of Tor
(again this is just my theory, I honestly could be talking out of my ass)

Delete the /challenge.php
Usually takes you to where you want to be....
