Bitcoin miner fees through the roof?

Made some bitcoin transactions this week and couldn't't believe how high the fees were. I usually don't even notice the fees, but this week was the first time I was short on an order after three or four hops on my way to market.

....is it just me or did mining fees go up recently?

Fees have been ridiculously high for over a week.

Wow, I remember when the fees were like 4 cents.

Use a wallet that you can set a custom fee. Mempool is pretty empty atm and transactions can go through quickly with nominal fees. Do not depend on some shit wallet to do this for you. Also, with Segwits release, the fees will be going even lower with transaction times lowering as well.

I think it's in-part because CoinBase has default transaction fees set to like $3, and it cannot be changed. I imagine a decent fraction of bitcoin transactions are coming out of CoinBase, so they're making the "baseline", across-the-board fees artificially high.

N00b question... would it be cheaper to send 10 100$ transactions or 1 1000$ TX? (Srs ?)

also you can use the Viabtc accelerator (at the start of every new hour it resets) everytime I've use the accelerator my transaction goes through in 45min-1 hour

Fuck yes they are redic these days. I can't trust electrum now either and their fee system, so what I do is go to preev.com, calculate a reasonable price, and use it.

Lol yeah, I just got destroyed, dude. $4-$7 per $20-$50 transaction. Tried to buy some amazon GCs, couldn't buy $4 with .00199btc available due to shit fees. MONERO4LIFE BABY.

its just you. fees are rock bottom, .00000001btc/kb and you would wait 12 blocks at most bitcoinfees.21.co
