[CommunityDiscussion]Ugh, Pack Dropped in Neighbor's Mailbox

One of the things that has always worried me is my pack being misdelivered. A few weeks ago I was waiting on a pack, mail comes by, the usual thrill was quickly dashed by feelings of disappointment, we all know what that fucking feels like. Not a huge deal, not like I needed right then and there. I decide to go out for a smoke and do my usual scan of my neighbor's mailbox and sure enough, see a pack that could very well be a DNM pack in my neighbor's box. I walk over and am able to see the name on it. Luckily nothing bad happened, got my pack before my neighbor did, and all is well.

But this has always been my fear - quick way to get uncovered. Your neighbor accidentally/purposefully opens your package and see the contents and you are fucked unless your neighbor is cool. Fucking stupid mistake that can cost you big time. Its always been at the back of my mind that this could happen. Thus I make it a habit to scan mailboxes and see if I see what could be DNM pack. After receiving a few you pretty much know when you see a DNM pack.

Also, another good reason to put your real name on it too! I could imagine some people getting misdirected mail and if they see a name they don't recognize as being a neighbor, they might just put a nice "Return to Sender" on it. Anyway, this has never happened to me with a DNM pack, first time. I have a few neighbor's that don't like me and could totally see them opening my fucking mail and then calling the cops on me.

I've told this before but this happend to me. Unfortunately, my neighbor opened the package (not addressed to them whatsoever) and called the police. I'll avoid the details on how it went down but I ended up going to court and was facing felony charges. Once the judge heard that the neighbor opened the mail, all charges were dropped and I walked outta court with a sigh of relief. I said it before and I'll say it again. Don't talk to the police. As in don't try and talk your way out of it. Nothing you say will make them just say "Ok thank you for being honest, we'll leave you alone now." Srsly, just shut up and lawyer up if need be.

I believe they are breaking the law first in that situation so you might end up fine. I've never really worried about this because any time regular mail has gone to the wrong house, they brought it over not more than touched by them. But just my experience.

It is mail fraud and theft to open a package that isn't yours, a federal crime. Now this has happened to me once before too. I live in a condo complex where there are mailbox "units" and you can't see anyone else's because they have individual keys. Now I moved here fairly recently (back in July) and I know a few neighbors pretty well. I ordered a few tabs of acid and it ended up in my neighbor's mailbox who lives right across from me. Luckily I know this neighbor fairly well and she ended up taping it to my door and said "whoops I got your mail." Long story short get to know your neighbors (at least a bit) and be courteous when you see them.

P.S. That feeling when there is no pack in your box is the only bad part of ordering from DNMs haha.

Well, it's a federal crime to open mail that isn't addressed to you, so if he were to contact LE, it would fuck him more than you, as long as you deny deny deny.
