Call from U.S. Marshalls

One of my drops is a pmb, set up under an acquaintances real name.

I had a package scheduled to be delivered today. A very large package that I would assume would result in a raid, and not a phone call. Again, this is a multiple thousand dollar load. This product was sent domestic. This product is not smelled for by dogs.

The package was due today, so he arrives. Checks box, no package.

Not very long after returning he receives a call from someone in the same area code as he is, claiming to be with homeland security. My friend believes the man claimed to be a martial, but later admits he thought during the call that it was the man's name.

During the phone call my acquaintance is given another phone number that he can contact about the package. I performed reverse searches on both numbers and found out that one is a landline and one is a cell. I also found out who the service providers are and that the phones are registered more than 25 miles away from each other but less than 50. Does anyone have any information on who DHS's cell phone carrier is?

I personally know a Marshall or two, and their work phone number will always come up as restricted when calling me from their work phone. Why did these numbers show from the same area code as the delivery?

I need the community opinion on what you believe happened.

I think it is looking like one of the private mail box store employees stole the package, and is acting like he is with DHS.

I've been doing this a long time.

Domestic packs don't get caught, especially ones you can't smell for. I have made successful purchases of the same amount from this Vendor before, and there is never a problem. His packs have never even seemed to have been probed. I also don't like how they called so quickly after he left. Lots of red flags.

Please, Community, let me hear your opinions.

In my experience the Marshalls will first get about 15-20 men, surround your house and then politely, yet aggressively knock on your door and scream so the whole neighborhood can come out and watch. That's just my experience though, never heard of them calling first.

Sounds like scammers to me. Pretty sure they don't call you like that

Yeah this is very odd. Could the substance be mistaken for soemthing other than a drug, like a powder/anthrax/poison? DHS would get involved in something like that. Generally speaking, a vanilla drug intercept would involve the USPS Postal Inspector and probably DEA along with local law enforcement. DHS might get involved if, like I said, they have mistaken the drugs for some sort of chemical weapon. I don't think they'd get involved in a drug case, but I could be wrong, each case can be unique.

What was said during the call? What were the instructions? What was the purpose of the call, in their words? Why did they give the other number? Did they arrange for a time or meet or something?

This is strange and I'm not sure its actually LE. It very well could be and I would approach it as if it was LE. Your buddy should follow the same precautions and assume whoever they are speaking with is LE and be careful on what they say. It does almost sound like you got a case of theft. The odd thing is why the phone call in the first place? Why not just steal it and keep quiet about it? They know you aren't going to be calling the cops to report it stolen. So that part is odd. Of course, not everyone thinks things through and the obvious reason they might call is to get you to think its LE so you'll forget about the pack and consider yourself lucky that you weren't arrested. From the amounts you hint at, I seriously doubt they'd be calling you. They'd be doing a CD/raid more than likely and they sure as hell wouldn't want to tip you off that the pack is intercepted b/c that'd give you time to clean house. If you could provide more info on what was said during the call, it may shed some light. If you are uncomfortable posting the details here (and again, think about this carefully, you don't want to post identifying details or things that are too close to the actual convo for obvious reasons), feel free to PM me. Again, don't give me details that could give you away or identify the call even in a PM to me. But if you could give a general gist of what was discussed, that could be helpful.

EDIT: Also, I would avoid using private mail centers. Check out the story of "Going Postal" in Austin, TX - the owner of that place opened up someone's pack b/c they were "suspicious about the number of packs he got" and she called the cops on him. These guys can be very untrustworthy.

if it's scammers chances are the number would show up on a google search. Here's an example of a scammer that called me once http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-443-982-5614
