What is the difference between different countries? Do they dispose your mail if it is not your name?
Can you receive mail with a different name to your PO box?

What country?

You can add people after you open it.

I received mail of a previous resident who lived here for a full year, before finally calling to say he didn't live here anymore. That could be an option, especially if the previous resident was a piece of shit.

I get different names, but correct box #, quite often. So it might get through ok, but there's a chance it wont. And my PO is small enough they know me by sight.

You will need the identification to go with that specific name (if you're in the UK, no idea about the US)

It depends where you live. you're not supposed to, but it depends on the delivery people.
generally i've found if you live in a urban/city area, the postman won't deliver to your box unless your name is on both the box and the envelope being delivered. and they don't give a fuck what you're having delivered. it could be a bunch of black tar and imported fireworks...it's not their job to care or report anything suspicious , their only job and priority is to deliver the mail to the right place, and the right person...and nothing more.
in rural areas the postman is more likely to deliver it no matter what name is on it. you could have a friend staying with you get mail at your place..your your uncle fester..doesn't matter much....they'll drop whatever off, all they look at is the address, not so much the name..but they're also more likely to notice something suspicious and report it. ....especially if they've only delivered mail to one or two names to that address for years, then suddenly they start getting odd packages being sent to names at the address they've never seen before. yeah, it doesn't take a detective to wonder what's going on there.
also opening a package with someone else's name (or a fake name) is a double whammy felony of both mail fraud and identity fraud. so if they do a controlled delivery on you, you'll get those charges added on to possession and/or distrubution charges and "using the U.S. Mail to distribute illegal drugs"

According to my PO lady she says she only looks at the box number, however I have had mail for my ex girlfriend both rejected and received, and they were never officially "added" to the box.

In USA you can achieve this if you have a UPS Store box. In most cases the employees there will deliver mail to your box: 1. if it is for a person with the same last name as yours, but a different 1st name if the box number is on the package/envelope. 2. if it is for a person with the same 1st name but a slightly different last name (say Jones was misspelled as Jons). UPS Store boxes are preferred by many over PO boxes as they give the impression you live there. Your address might be 123 Main Street, #456, Hookerville which looks like you live in apartment 456.

The name has to be on the box. I found out the hard way long before the darknet with an order of 10 grams of 2c-i that was returned to sender. Luckily it was bunk and the return address was real. The vendor offered an extra 50% for returns so I ended up getting 15 grams for like $500.

I get mail from other names in my PO box all the time... except they're all previous owners of the box. Do you ever get any of their mail? It would be possible to use their name but you never know when they will do a change of address etc.. I get IRS statements and important documents from previous owners.
If you have ever gotten previous mail from an owner of the box, use a new first name but same last name of that person. Usually (in the U.S.), people only fill out change of address' for individuals, so other mail still gets delivered under the last name.
Also, in the U.S. if its undeliverable to sender and receiver, it goes to the "dead letter office" where it gets opened, and contents auctioned off. You don't want a box full of weed with your name on it end up there...

You can only do that if you provided them with that persons name during the registration of the P.O Box. I'm not sure if you can add people after its been submitted and the box has been opened
