[update] Odd USPS scenario

Original post here. Just found out that the pack that was accepted on Monday, and then left the southern mid-west headed for the west coast (with no update scans and no estimated date of delivery) was just scanned today (Fri) at a sort facility in Honolulu. Apparently the address label was hand written, so I'm guessing there was a problem with some of the zip code digits. All of this would explain the notable delay...

At this point I've given up worrying from an opsec perspective...I mean he'll, if they can't find the continent, how can they find me ;) ..but seriously, what do you think the chances are it will ever arrive at its home?

While this is out of the usual, I have seen it before in ebay forums and other forums where there is direct selling.

It should easy to google. People track their packages go around the country, it's pretty hilarious some of the distances these packs will go before landing. They do seem to land though!

You'll eventually get your pack more than likely unless vendor really fucked up the address and it's completely off. If it was simply misread or hopped on wrong plane you'll get it. I had a pack do this, not to HI though, but to a completely off state. Took close to 14 days to get it but I did get it.

I had a pack recently sent priority, let's say, Georgia to New York (states changed to protect opsec). Check tracking on the day it was supposed to be delivered, and it just scanned in Nevada. It showed up 3 days later (total of 3 days late), but it showed up no problem. It was just misrouted. I'm guessing that's what happened with yours. Watch those vendors who use handwritten addresses. Those are huge red flads to the postal inspector. I won't reorder if a vendor sends a pack with handwriting on it.
