Instead of installing tails onto a USB, I've installed it onto a micro SD card and use an adapter to launch it, its easier to hide/conceal, and if shit hits the fan its a lot easier to destroy.
Worth it in my opinion.
Just a bit of a tip, might be useful to you.

Can you point me to a how-to for this set up? Or maybe cinsider writing one up yourself for that sweet sweet karma?

PSA: never skimp on your micro SD cards, and watch out for fakes.

Newer 3.0 flash drives are nearing the same level of concealability, but are less widely supported. This is definetely a good idea and now that you've brought it up I'm going to migrate to the same pattern.

Diceware passphrase will do nicely.. just saying.
I Also use this method and really recommend. It's a lot harder to swallow or hide a USB drive then a Micro SD chip. Hell you could just hide it under your tongue during a raid. I also have multiple copies of tails hidden in places around my town in case I need to destroy one copy completely, very useful to keep vendors keys and onion sites.
**use persistence volume and don't use the same password twice, also try and make your passwords hard to crack.. example pass 4!Hdf?%#I__i<3horse
