$$ laundering?

Not sure if it's been done before, haven't looked into it tbh. But how well, and to what extent, would a donation cover protect a drug operation? And what would be a good cover story? I would say something that is believable but not so believable, because what happens when enough soccer moms feel so bad for your cancer-stricken mother your "story" goes viral, and now the cover for your heroin operation is in the public's face. Criticism welcomed, preferably constructive unless this is a complete waste of time, in which case please lmk. For educational purposes, ofc.

Edit: I would never actually use a cancer story to cover laundering, i merely used it to get a point across. And this was directed more at those new gofundme's and alike sites. Maybe setting up "Roberta's college fund," don't think too many people would go into that. Have how ever many of those you need and don't put too much money into one account.

or you can just say someone sent $250k in btc to the wrong address, which just happened to be yours

Don't use cancer stories to launder money please. It's just wrong.

Donation covers are not ideal. Immediately when you go asking for donations you are inviting more scrutiny from people than if you just ran a normal boring business. People are going to want background info, charity details if you go official and lots of evidence. There will be questions about where the funds you earn are going to.

Also what kind of donations are you accepting? Bank transfers? That shit can be traced and they are going to see what is going in and what is being declared. Makes money laundering pointless. Paypal? Same problem. Cash? Looks a little shady to deal in just cash for donations. Bitcoin? Expect red flags. Normal donation causes (cancer, etc.) don't really operate through bitcoin. You will be the only fish in the barrel, which you don't want. Maybe think it through a little more.

Just donate anonymously or simply tell the charity that you don't want publicity. Those soccer moms want the exposure. Someone had to pick up the phone and call the TV station.

Not a good idea. The whole idea is to provide clean income to yourself that would pass an economic audit (how well you live vs how much you make). Non-profits are just that non profit and wouldn't give you enough cover.
