Poisoned chalices

I don't think this has been asked before, so forgive me if it has...because it seems like an obvious question. But it occurs to me that there is nothing, essentially, to stop a psychopath from setting up a vendor's account and instead of psychedelics sending cyanide or whatever. Warfarin even! Instead of a vial of steroids, a vial of insulin for instance. I would think the risk of this is infinitesimal, nonetheless existent. What do you all think? Cyber serial killers? It's not like anyone would be leaving feedback...other than 'excellent stealth, quick delivery...have yet to sample product...will update'. Macabre, eh?

EDIT: Could be a good LEO ploy to scare buyers away. Even sending sub-lethal poisons theoretically requiring hospitalisation with a trademark-type illness. I'm just surmising here. I'm a doctor by profession, so abstract thinking around this piques the imagination Could be a good LEO ploy to scare buyers away. EDIT 2: interesting comments, everyone. I would just further add that 'testing' (i.e. with an amateur colorimetric kit) would not really protect fully against this. The LD50 (lethal dose in 50%) for some poisons is extremely small and this could easily be effective in a compound composed almost entirely of drug -- but with that little bit extra of poison. I agree that the likelihood of this is low and reduced with a basic web of trust via the feedback system etc. And I agree with the person who says that the emotional 'reward' or satisfaction gained by a killer would be little due to the anonymous means of attack and seeing a result. However I think it is wrong to say 'a psychopath wouldn't go through with that kind of effort...' -- you would be surprised what kind of effort a psychopath could go to. Thinking about this, I don't think there would be any better coup for LE than the dramatically negative propaganda that a situation like this would give rise to. Anyay, to end...there's risk in everything in life and we play with risk and chance every day. So fuck it. Keep calm and carry on!

Well. You could test your product.

There is nothing stopping a street dealer from doing the same.

If only there were some kind of kit that you could test your drugs with...

you're freaking me out

Just remember this: the chalice from the palace got broken, so the pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.

We'll know when we start seeing reviews like, "Vendor communication good. Product arrived quickly with good stealth. Died after first dose. Overall, 98/100."

If LE put full effort/resources to tracking down a vendor none would last a week.

[1 Points] i_dont_like_onions:

It's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure who would do it. A psychopath, for example, wouldn't go through that kind of effort when he can just pick up a prostitute or something.

People have done one-offs like this a couple of times (Tylenol, wasn't it?) but I think it wouldn't be nearly satisfying enough to induce a serial killer to continue with the method.

[1 Points] blackhand25:

If I recall correctly, someone threatening to do this was the reason that SR1 started the vendor bond.

Overall, though, I think the likelihood of someone doing this (intentionally) is incredibly small. Poisoners tend to have very specific reasons for killing, and would likely not do so to random people they never met, never will meet, and will not get to see suffer.

If it were to happen(and the possibility is why you should always test your shit before putting it into your body or selling it to someone else) it would likely be one of three things: a vendor who righteously pissed off his supplier and is selling a batch that was meant for the vendor himself(very unlikely), an extreme ideologue who wants to show the world how evil DNMs are by fabricating excessive danger and literally poisoning the well(possible but ideologues tend to be more up close with their crazy shit), or a vendor who is buying his product directly off a street level dealer whose supply chain cut the product with something dangerous(the Ketamine that was cut with anticoagulants earlier this year shows that this does happen).

Stay with a reputable vendor you trust and develop a relationship. There should be a main go to vendor for whatever you are purchasing in my opinion. If you are in the process of finding one. The code I follow is:

research -- check feedback, then search the community forums and review posts and rep for integrity. Nothing speaks for itself more than their actions and members are always looking out and giving feedback.

I never venture off and go to a new seller until he has validated and established himself in the community, unless its a reputable vendor from another site and the pgp signatures match.
