USPS and so called "delays" (Vendor excuses)

I contacted USPS about so called "delays" because that seems to be a common excuse with vendors when packages are not delivered on time. They always seem to blame USPS, when in reality they are marking it shipped BEFORE they ship it out! I was told if a package is shipped via priority, it is GUARANTEED to arrive within 1-3 days unless USPS issues a service alert on their website! So, vendors need to stop using "USPS has some delays" as an excuse and start being more honest and credible with their customer base. I asked USPS if the holiday season would have any delay on PRIORITY mail, and they told me it would not. The only exception of course is mail won't ship during USPS holidays or on Sunday. It is extremely unprofessional to mark a package as shipped before it is truly shipped. Also, certain vendors have claimed "I dropped it in the box, P.O hasn't picked it up yet" However, certain vendors don't use pre-paid labels for priority boxes so they CAN'T drop it in the box, they have to go into the office and pay CASH for the priority service.

guaranteed lol. bullshit. if you sent the amount of packages that any vendor sends, you'd see how bad the usps fucks stuff up.

not saying that you havent ordered from shitty vendors that actually do this -- it is really common out here. you can check your tracking to verify the story, itll show you what day the mailman picked it up and got it in the system. just remember that we cant make the mailman pick it up after the cut off times for the boxes, late afternoon saturdays, sundays, whatever....so dont blame the vendor if you order on saturday and it doesnt go out according to usps til monday.

as far as legit usps delays.....ive seen packs get scanned picked up, and then scanned into a sorting center, and then sit there for a god damned week before moving. I've seen packages within the continental us end up in the sorting center in puerto rico, then get sent back, then go through the proper routes to get delivered......this adds several extra days for obvious reasons. I've seen packages end up on the wrong side of the country and then get rerouted. And i'm talking about printed shipping labels where all the info is digitally sent to usps......packages with stamps are even worse since they're OCR-ing your handwriting or printer font into a computer.....

there's an obvious difference in the tracking of course. but don't think usps delays arent incredibly common.

most of my packages get delivered very fucking quickly.

This isn't true. I had a vendor drop a pack which took more than a week to get. When the vendor provided the tracking, without me asking for it, it showed that it sat at the original drop location for almost 4 days before it left the facility.

I also have relatives that work for the postal service and they don't care about guarantees. Some employees will deliberately not deliver packages because they just don't feel like messing with it.

Our delivery system is still run by overqualified monkeys, so to expect anything is pretty foolish on your part. The joke is on you because you actually believe something that has been written on the Internet. Do you think this is the truth?

As a vendor I will say a lot of the 'USPS Delays' are BS, but USPS also has an affinity for being full of shit. I've never had an issue sending (legal) anything FedEx/UPS and if there was a delay they'd put it right on the tracking page to the exact reasons why. USPS I've had multiple issues where they don't even attempt to deliver a package and just drop the 'come pick it up' pink slip while I stood in my garage or how a replacement card from a foreign country took 2 days to get to customs (who cleared it within 24hrs) and then an additional 9 days to deliver. By 'deliver' I mean they claimed they did, but I had to stand in the post office and badger the sarcastic land-whale to actually go look and (amazing!) she found it back there sitting in a pile.

Love/hate--but generally anything put in the flat rate boxes arrives on-time/early or never at all. I've only had 1 or 2 small issues that mostly were just tracking updating 2-3 days late but package actually arrived on time.

I've had a pack that has been awaiting Usps arrival since the 6th and vendor said its a delay. He's reputable but I'm skeptical ..

Yes, your order is shipped some time after is is marked shipped. Also, Monday is a holiday. When people ask me about how long it takes, I never know if they want to know about the guy who left a negative review because it took 13 days or the guy who apologized to me after recieving a refund after his order got there after 34 days.

USPS guarntees 1-3 day delivery. Your beef is with them, not your vendor. How do you think your vendor gets stuff? Who do you think knows the most about how long priority mail took over the winter?

Yup, those USPS "delays" are almost always the vendor's fault. When my pack comes late I wait 3 or 4 days before finalizing.
