After a year of major police actions against them, dark net markets grew by 37% in product offerings

Dark Net markets have grown over 37 percent in product listings in the last year despite sweeping police actions and the constant threat of multimillion-dollar thefts looming large. This is the fourth straight year of growth among major black markets even as the biggest and most famous markets--like Silk Road, Evolution, Silk Road 2.0--are left for the history books.

Something something hydra something something 2 more.

The thing is though that when they made the huge Silk Road bust and boasted about it all through the media, it only led more people to find out about the DNMs, therefor more customers and sellers for the inevitable new markets.

It's an uphill battle. How long have opium and cannabis been used/abused for? All this has just moved on to the digital era. There's no way LE is ever going to interrupt the human need for intoxication.

[11 Points] J0NJ0NES:

Yeah well, the key is encryption. Strong encryption is the foundation for everything to do with Tor, DNMs, Bitcoins, etc. Encryption is the biggest threat to 'the establishment', IMO. It has the effect of nullifying bad laws like prohibition, which is why DNMs are growing and will continue to no matter how much authorities try to stop them.

We are the 1776 of the drug world. Be proud folks, we are all crossing the delaware.

Judging purely on listing numbers seems like a poor metric.

Good! I'm glad they've grown for four years straight. Maybe at some point the government will realize it's a fruitless endeavor. Unlikely because they get money for throwing Americans in jail. But, we can hope.

We are only at the very beginning of a global r-evolution.

[1 Points] None:

They helped get the media involved and spread the word about DarkNets in general.

[1 Points] heyfreshhhhh:

Yes, but it sure seems like the DNMs are becoming much riskier for even small time buyers. It's unnerving.
