[PSA] USPS postage price increase January 17

I am sure most vendors are aware of this already, but beginning january 17 2016 the price for flat rate postage will be going up.

Buyers, it may be a good idea to remind your vendors when you place an order for the first week or so.

More information can be found at prc.gov

On average, the Priority Mail prices will be increased by 9.8 percent. The existing structure of Priority Mail Retail, Commercial Base, and Commercial Plus price categories is maintained. However, the Regional Rate Box C and Critical Mail will both be eliminated because of low customer usage. Retail prices will increase an average of 8.6 percent. Retail Flat Rate Box prices will be: Small, $6.80; Medium, $13.45; Large, $18.75; and Large APO/FPO/DPO, $16.75. The regular Flat Rate Envelope will be priced at $6.45, with the Legal Size and Padded Flat Rate Envelopes priced at $6.45 and $6.80, respectively.

damn that sucks nuts. I had all the combinations and increments of stamps worked out flawlessly depending what I wanted to send, now I gotta re-work it all.

I'm a little irked they made the flat rate boxes/padded envelope $6.80. would have been totally content if they changed to $6.75 (or $6.73), cause then you could just use the $5.75 stamp + 2x forever stamps or a $1 stamp. but they had to tack on that last nickel. I despise the <10 cent stamps and refuse to use them, they need to cease to exist. the post office oughta adopt a system of rounding up/down to the nearest 10 cents, so we can just get rid of the 1, 2, 3 cent stamps.

fuck I'm high. anyway, thanks for the heads up. didn't know about this

Upvote for visability, this is pretty important! Vendors need to be aware of this change!

Great post!

Will this affect international mail (import US)? Since it is handled by USPS as well.

this is the end of the world as we know it

I'd like to think that most vendors would be on top of this kind of thing, but sadly in reality few probably are.

I've always cringed when getting a pack with a shit load of stamps on it. Does it really impact Opsec that much to print labels (because I've seen both)? IMO it makes it look more legit. Most businesses aren't going to use a handful of various stamps to send an item Priority.
