bribe letter from LE in post

I got a letter in the mail today, saying they were part of a federal taskforce on DNM, and I could bribe my way out of certain investigation and arrest by paying 1 BTC to a wallet they provide in the letter. They say they are part of a federal task force and can prevent my details being passed on to state LE for the following three certain outcomes if I don't pay: state police notification, search warrant, felony charge.

I of course have not engaged in illegal acitivity and have no illegal substances at home, nor have I had any regular mail go missing. I feel I can safely ignore this ridiculous attempt at a bribe.

EDIT: GPG is always used. I also know it is a domestic Australian vendor, given the name on the letter, but don't know who with certainty who. It is a real name but obviously not my own. The bitcoin wallet is: 18TftQU4ACEzgDcQP3j8yzsPtAHXLtjSyx

I can't imagine them actually trying to bribe you. It sounds more like a vendor trying to scam you

Post the BTC address they sent you here? Would be interesting to see if it can be linked back to a vendors wallet.

LOL, did you happen to narrow down which vendor sent this garbage? If so, name and fucking shame them.

One thing I do, and this is good if you order for a smaller number of different vendors, is change up either my name or address ever so slightly for each vendor. Definitely use REAL names and addresses, but there are ways to make small little changes so you know which vendor sends you what. This is helpful when you order the same product from different vendors.

For instance if your name is "Daniel Jefferson Cummings", you could use your full name for one vendor, another you can leave out the middle name, for another use an initial for the middle name, and so forth. Same with the address. If you live in an apartment, you can use # or apt to change things up. Do that, and you can generally always tell which vendor sends you what since they tend to cut and paste exactly what you tell them.

Post the wallet addresses!!!

Let us follow that piece of string thru the forest.

=)

Keep the letter, definitely. At least take a picture of it next to something in your home.

Don't pay it.

Do tell us any vendors you may have used, because whichever vendor is sending these out must burn.

i also got one of these letters in the mail today,

[1 Points] DNMA2:

Do you know which vendor it was? Or at least have a reasonable idea?
Might be useful so I know whether to expect a letter too.

[1 Points] druggieslut:

You remember those feds busted for extorting bitcoins from Mr Ulbricht ?

[0 Points] AndThenHeSays4:

Did you PGP encrypt your address when you sent it to vendors or did the site do that for you? That can at least narrow it down to a vendor (or a friend if you told someone IRL).

That sounds like a vendor scamming you.

I would contact the vendor, and let him know you turned this over to LE, because something is going on here.

Don't actually contact LE. Bluff.
