High Value Resolution Question

I placed a high value order (~$5000) recently with express overnight shipping. The vendor and I have agreed (by me providing proof) that I provided them with a completely valid address however the package tracking is marked as undeliverable as addressed and has been for three days.

They want to split the escrow 50/50 in resolution, costing me ~$2500.

I feel that since I provided a completely valid address (holding up my end of the "contract") that I should not bear the burden of a package that did not arrive through no fault of my own.

Community input on this?

How did you prove the address was 100% valid?

USPS will often not deliver large packs to abandoned homes, while junk mail will still get through

That's a tough one because from his side, assuming no scam, you are asking him to lose both the product and the money. If I were you I would hold off for a bit, and see if the package shows up or if the tracking changes. In a couple of weeks he might be more inclined to take a 80-20 split just to get it over with, and it would also help you confirm or rule out a scam because reports from other buyers may come in. If all else fails, try offering a discount on the next order in lieu of the other 50% of the coin.

They could have shipped it to an undeliverable address and are trying to scam you. It's not something I want to believe, but it's a possibility you should keep in mind.
