Vendor OPSEC: Extremely Suspicious Customer

Hey, Im currently a DNM vendor, and I came across an order with a very suspicious address. The address turned out to be a law firm and it was addressed under the head attorneys of the firm. I am fairly certain these people who graduated from top law schools wouldn't have ordered drugs recreationally.. Could this be a LE investigation? I cancelled the order. What should I have done? And what proper OPSEC should vendors use to distinguish LE purchases and to prevent controlled buys?

Let me play devil's advocate here.

You would be surprised how many "upstanding" and professional people use the DNMs to get drugs. In many cases, professional people don't know or associate with drug dealers, and the DNM route is the best way to acquire drugs.

Some of us have mortgages, careers, and families, yet still want to get high from time to time. I know that personally if it weren't for the DNMs there's no way I could buy LSD or weed from someone on the street. I have too much to lose.

Having it sent to the office means the nagging wife, who probably doesn't approve, won't find out.

I'm just saying, it's plausible. You might want to message the customer with your concerns and see what they say.

First and foremost, as with most things in life, go with your gut. You'll sleep better. You may not be right but again, do what makes you comfortable. That being said, you'd be surprised how many professionals are drug users. Doctors, specifically anesthesiologists have one of the higher rates of addiction and drug abuse. Lawyers probably fit right up there. Drug use and addiction knows no age or socioeconomic boundaries. Also professionals probably don't have IRL connections they want to use for various reasons.

That being said, I wouldn't order to my business. I'd establish a better drop. BUT maybe it does offer the best defense, so to speak. Angry client sent it to me. Someone I sued go pissed at me.

Your Opsec should be tight enough not to worry too much but I get not sending to a suspicious customer regardless of how tight your Opsec is. LE wouldn't be this stupid. You wouldn't know if LE was ordering. So I think realistically it leaves a real customer who is a lawyer or someone pissed at the lawyer. In any case never do anything that goes against your instincts.

Um...just a lurker for professional reasons. There is no conceivable way a law enforcement investigation would have delivery to a law firm, and no way, I stress this, no way that a law firm would become involved in a L E investigation in this way. I also have heard that some lawyers take drugs. Shocking, I know.

I'll add- a large law firm would make a perfect cover for delivery. The police would be extremely reluctant to chase a thing like that, and the deniability is so plausible it hurts. If I were ordering of darknets I'd have it sent to my office.

It's not unreasonable for a few folks in highstanding jobs such as stock traders and such to rail the occasional line.

I can tell you from experience that hte notion that top lawyers don't do drugs is total bullshit. In fact, the legal profession has one of the highest substance abuse and addiction rates of any profession. I would say you might risk pissing off someone who could be a VERY good customer. Law firm partners at top firms make TONS of money, and have TONS of cash to burn on drugs. Do what you want, but I'd sell to him if I were you.

You should have sent it.

You should apologize to your pissed off buyer.

This sort of thing happens all the time and you were not prepared.

[2 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

If you have a bad feeling about the order you were right to cancel it

[2 Points] drimilr:

youd be surprised.

a law firm that i worked for had a regular circle of pot smokers (lots of partners) and an overlapping circle of coke users. it took me a bit to figure out the regular trips to the parking garage when none of them were cig smokers.

edit: just to add that at another law firm that i definitely never ever ever worked for, there was a bust because they were using the inter office mailing system (which uses USPS/FedEx/UPS) to ship coke between coastal office locations. i think it was just an internal investigation and didnt get the LE involved IIRC.

What gave it away as a law firm?

[1 Points] ServerMagic:

This could also be a possible situation of retaliation like we've seen attempted on Brian Krebs.

[1 Points] noonehear:

All the lawyers I know do a lot of drugs. GO MURICA!!!!

[1 Points] Khagur:

Or someone is getting their ass checked by this law firm and they want to get back at them by implicating them with a drug order they are hoping will be intercepted.

maybe some competitor wants to fuck with the competition?

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

no point losing sleep for the sake of one order. SO obviously good call.

That said, if I was a head of a law firm, and I did drugs - I'd be ordering them online for sure...

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

The weird purchases I've cancelled have all started as messages saying "do you take any other form of payment?"

yeah sure! western union me it, ill just scann my passport for you to save typing my name

[0 Points] CumberlandGap:

Not give a shit and take their money because you have good opsec and it shouldn't matter whether or not LE is ordering from you? you sound like you probably shouldn't be vending, if I were that customer I would be pissed

[0 Points] snoodsispro:
