Bank of America

Just here to confirm that BoA will be requiring ID verification when making cash deposits starting July 20th. I think this may be a burnt out topic, but I just heard it for the first time and wanted to share!

Stay safe.

all you morons who are saying "JUST USE AFAKE LOLZ" these are people who are more likely to be flagged. Who knows if chase doesnt do a audit to match your ID with a valid working one. YOU DONT KNOW. If they do, you will be flagged, targeted and any info will be handed over to feds.

ITS NOT ILLEGAL to deposit money in someones account. ITs not illegal to buy bitcoins. I deposit money into my gf's account occasionally. There is no suspicion or reason to suspect on the banks behave, but if hand a fake ID and it for some reason stands out in anyway or they some how have a way to match id #'s your fucked.

Land of the free, just minus all the anonymity and free-part, right?

and likely all the other big name banks will follow

that's a bummer

that's shitty. I have never used cash deposits for BTC as I am usually really spun and don't like interacting with people, but I suspect cash by mail might be subject to some of its own new stipulations in the near future. though I guess seeing as they can't even stop drugs in the mail, I doubt theyd have any more success stopping cash in the mail.

Wells Fargo never asks for ID when making a cash deposit.

I knew it was just a matter of time. Last year sometime i went to BofA to deposit some money into an account from LocalBTC. After i told him the account he pretty much yells "WHOA! What is this for? I mean theres just A LOT of money in that account." Two other tellers came over and looked at his monitor. Nothing illegal about buying BTC but i just told him it was a World Of Warcraft account. To buy game gold. Just said that because i didnt want to explain BTC to them. I never went back there. But i knew something like this was bound to happen.

[2 Points] someone-who-is-me:

Goddammit why are they trying to make getting drugs difficult?

[1 Points] 123thousandproblems:

Soo.. Is there any sort of source for this? June 20th is less than a month away and I can't find anything on this on this BoA website.

Edit: Err 2 months away, but still.

Even if ID is required from now on, it's not illegal to buy coins. Why not make multiple LBC accounts and trade amongst them tondistance the BTC from your transaction. Or use ID to get the coins then just tumble? The ID is probably just some new policy to easily be worked around

[1 Points] Swansonisms:

From a customer's point of view it's completely irrelevant as the purchase of BTC is not illegal and won't be made illegal. Once you get them, tumble them and you're golden. From a sellers perspective I can understand the issue but all it should require is an additional layer of misdirection. Am I wrong here? Is there something I'm missing?

Just use LibertyX if available.

Ya'll are just a bunch of pussies. Head over to /r/fakeid and get a fake. All they do is type your info into the system, mainly the license ID number. They don't scan it, slide it, take pictures of it, photocopy it..
