Got a new phone, Google Authenticator information lost for Electrum?

I deposited btc into my electrum wallet, but my app deleted all my previous information so now I don't have a code to enter into my electrum wallet to send BTC. Is there anything i can do?

I'm not familiar with the operation of the authenticator, but do you still have your seed words saved somewhere? Can you do a wallet restore (File > New/Restore) enter a new wallet name, select "Restore a wallet ..." and then enter the seed words?

This has happened to me before (not with electrum but with like 90 other services that were lost when i got a new phone and lost my old one.

It is one reason to switch to authy... you can migrate your authenticator account to the new phone if you still have access to the same telephone #.

I prefer google auth but while I see the necessity for this, it does scare me what happens when I loose my phone.

I had to pay localbitcoins like $5btc to swtich my tele # and wait 2 weeks for a reset to remove the 2-step

luckily i had my backup pass codes to override the 2nd factor auth for my google account

coin.mx, circle, were all a bitch. blockchain wallet, man the list goes on.

2-factor is great though, really gives peace of mind and you can use a single password for accounts that have 2factor set up (does anything think this is ill advisable? if so why?)
