Chill weed

So it's been ages since I smoked weed- like 10 years at least. It always made me super anxious and after having panic attacks nearly every time I smoked, I decided to stop. But now I hear there are "strains" that have less of whatever was making me react so badly. I plan to stop using opiates soon and wanted to maybe try smoking bud again. Can anyone advise me on what I should be looking for? Thanks!

Some people get anxiety from the body high of a Indica.

Some people get anxiety from the stimulating affects of a Sativa.

Some people get anxiety with both types with zero tolerance.

Some people just need to take it slow.

CBD has become popular in the media recently and some have better luck smoking a strain that has a percentage of CBD to offset the THC.

It is all trial and error. =)

You will have the best luck taking it slow. You will have anxiety for the first day but the next day you will have a tolerance and shouldn't get anxious.

Head over to /r/trees for some more detailed info. /r/eldertrees is also good to avoid the teenagers. For my 2c, I would say get a Kush or another indica strain. Also start small, your tolerance is 0 so don't grind a whole fat nugget into a joint the first time. /r/Vaporents for another option for higher efficiency

High CBD strain may be what you're looking for, at least to edge back into weed. Should also help with some WDs from opiates.

Try weak hash or Thai weed (power plant is good too)

One of my fav strains that is great for this would be a strain called Harlequin, and although it's sativa dominant it's CBD:THC ratio is generally 5:2 making this strain one of the most effective out there for treatment of pain and anxiety, as CBD has anti anxiety and painkilling properties.

Look for strains that are cannabinoid dominant rather than looking for high THC strains.

I'm in the same boat with you and I recently tried Flo on recommendation from a tender in Denver...I really enjoyed it and I was surprised how nice it was.

For me best chill strains are Northern Lights and Hawaiian Skunk. But I'm not sure if they would help with your anxiety. Probably you have low tolerance and should just start with small amounts. In this case some good sativa may be a good choice too, it gives more joy. Anyway switching to weed from opiates is good idea and I wish you good luck!

I'd recommend getting a vape pen with oil in it. There cost about $50 and you can take them anywhere. The vape will be easier on your lungs, and the only thing you need to do is charge to pen. I'm not sure what strain you need but you probably want something like an OG Kush. You could also get CBD oil which is very helpful with anxiety and pain.

Most usual strains got very high THC and very low CBD. THC gets you high CBD works against that high and makes it more chill If you got 15% THC and 0,2% CBD you got a very strong and unpleasent high which can couse things like paranoia, anxiety, panic attacks, etc... At least get strains with 1% CBD. If you cant get high CBD strains, just get industrial hemp (which got 0,2% THC and 2-5% CBD) and normal weed and mix them both. If you smoked too much THC just smoke some CBD weed after and you will feel way better. I hope i could help you understand the THC CBD importance.
