Question about PO boxes and putting the home address at risk

Background: I'm 18 and living at home. I've ordered from DNM's in the past to my home address (super fucking shitty of me, I know) and I'm now planning on getting my own PO box to not put my family at risk.

My question is, when you sign up for a PO box, you have to present two forms of ID, both with your current physical address on them, so if, god forbid, a CD were to happen, am I still putting my family at risk due to our real address being linked to the PO box? By getting a PO box, am I really putting only myself at risk?

I don't want to use a fake ID, because from what I've read on here, they can cause more issues than they solve, and the only way I could get a fake ID would be through a DNM anyway.

I absolutely do not want to ruin my parents livelyhood because of my poor decisions.

Thoughts?

Edit: I also want to point out that my father requires special security clearance for his job. Would this be effected if a CD were to happen?

I don't know for 100% sure but I would venture to say that you do risk your fathers security clearance. I have an extended family member with a low level security clearance, yet my criminal background was taken into consideration. Not only that, but the FBI wanted to talk to me and I hardly even talk to this family member. My criminal background consist of low level drug charges and I have no ties to anything that would risk sensitive information getting out.

I applaud your responsible attitude towards this. However, CDs are actually really rare, especially for personal amounts. I don't think this is because LE don't care about personal amounts, it is more that they are just really hard to detect because they blend in with the rest of the mail.

I assume you are ordering for yourself? I would 100% not try to be a dealer while living with your parents.

CDs at PO boxes are rarer than CDs at houses. Not sure why. Maybe it is because they are much harder to execute because you don't when stuff will be picked up. Or maybe because not many people use PO boxes. There have been a couple, but usually for large amounts. One I remember was a guy who kept calling the PO box place every day asking if his stuff came in. The police told the PO box to call the guy back and tell him it was there. When he arrived, they nabbed him.

Your PO Box does trace back to your house. However, I have not heard of that ever being used as justification for a house search/raid. (not to say it hasn't happened, of course) It may be that picking up something at a PO box does not give probably cause for a search of a house. A regular CD at a house does because the drugs are in your house.

Well your families not at risk if you run a po box.But you still run the risk of a embarrassing knock at the door.
