USPS Tracking says "Delivered - Picked up by Individual". Buyer says it wasn't them. Thoughts?

According to tracking, a customer had a package picked up from a sorting facility while en route to the final destination. "Delivered, picked up by Individual" is the current status. Customer says it wasn't them. Has anyone ever seen this before? Would this show up like this if LE had seized it?

Buyer is lying.

That's really sketch... Perhaps call on burner phone and ask who delivered it and to whom?

I am under the impression that to pick up a pack from the PO mid-transit, you need an ID matching the name on the pack...

The Grand Wizard has had this happen before. Generally the postman on that day's route will sign for the package and put it in our mailbox. Sometimes they forget to put the pack in and deliver it the next day: occasionally we have had to go down to our branch post office and explain our situation. (This happens a good bit: we're often waiting behind other people whose missing packages were marked "delivered"). Typically they find it in the back.

Depending on what you are sending, you may want to tell the buyer to ask his local post if there is a package waiting for him. The Grand Wizard would bet his favorite sparkly turban there is no CD in progress. If LE was planning a bust they would make sure the tracking looked clean until they sprung the trap.

Probably not, in my opinion. There is an actual scan status for this that USPS will use ("Package seized by law enforcement"). So, if they weren't planning a CD on your buyer but they intercepted it, they'd probably just say so on the tracking. Now, if they were planning a CD on your buyer and they did intercept it, then they probably wouldn't alert the buyer to potential issues by saying it's already been delivered; they'd likely just have it show as still in transit so as not to alert that anything is up.

Because it doesn't make sense to have that status if it was picked up by LE, whether they are planning a CD or not, I would say that's probably not what happened. Either the buyer is scamming or it was somehow legitimately picked up by someone else - maybe a roommate? Another household member (family)?

Then there are a couple other really unlikely options - thieving postal employee or picked up by someone that doesn't have proof they live at the destination address. Neither one of those is a likely scenario for obvious reasons.

Tracking said they picked it up, so they picked it up. Not your problem anymore.

I think we have a lying buyer. A buyer trying to get free shit. They need to show ID to USPS to pick stuff up.

There is no telling. USPS tracking has been all over the place for the last week.

[1 Points] greenbarz:

How long ago did tracking say that? Could be a miscan, I had some weird shit lately with tracking and it all showed up.

[1 Points] stickykitty1:

Are you able to see where that 'sorting facility' was? Same city as destination? If not, you may consider a reship, after waiting a good two weeks. But if it's in same city as final destination could be Buyer scam and I'd call with burner. Also depends on how much product/$ and is it worth the hassle, or maybe just reship. I give each customer one reship, and make sure they know they only get the one.

the packed got picked up from the sorting facility? how?

[1 Points] momsbasement420:

Wait, you can just go to a sorting facility to pick up your package?

[1 Points] retroracer:

look on the tracking and see if there's an entry for like "notice delivered-held for pickup". i got a priority pack held for pickup at the PO recently and that's the status update that showed up

[1 Points] GRLD_NGTS:

If it was delivered on the same day it should have been delivered and was at the post office near them etc, the buyer is lying. You did your part of getting the pack to them, and they fucked up by letting someone able to get their pack. Their druggie mom could have knew the pack was coming and picked it up or some shit you never know. The fact tracking shows it was delivered/picked up makes me think buyer is lying. It's not your fault if they give you an address and then someone with that address has picked up the package.

If it was seized I don't think it would have said delivered.

"Delivered, picked up by Individual"

Are you sure? I wasn't aware that was one of the delivery status options.

There are two which are similar:

  • Delivered, Individual Picked Up at Postal Facility
  • Delivered, Individual Picked Up at Post Office

buyer is lying or buyer's drop is comprimised

It has happened to me. Neighbors, wrong PO box, stuffed in the crevice of your mailman's truck, sadly, got me blacklisted from CannaXpress

We're on our way to your location.

I would not put anything past USPS after what I have been through this year.
