Do you all think hand written labels are really that sketchy?

I received a clear net package today (iPhone Cases and chargers) from China and it was hand written and down right the sketchiest package I have ever seen in my entire life, yet is passed through customs no problem. Do you all think USA domestic packages that are hand written with stamps are sketchier than a printed shipping label or is it all the same?

Package Criteria

Label Criteria

It's one of many factors that USPS carriers and inspectors are trained to look for when looking to identify a suspicious package. Hand written labels, as well as fake return address, no return address, and return addresses that dont match the stamped/postmarked zipcode are all identifying factors as well. None of these individually is enough to consider a package suspicious, but each adds credence to a package's illegitimacy. There's a PDF somewhere on the internet of the USPS's inderdiction tactics and efforts, what and how they look for as far as suspicious packages are concerned.. Maybe someone can comment below?

I think for package/letter that supposed to be a business one - it is sketchy. On the other hand, for package/letter that looks like private it is very natural to be hand written

Why would a hand written label make a package suspixious? I've mailed hundreds of packages in my life and everyone was hand written labels. I order things off eBay, Reddit, other random forums and receive hand written labels. I find it hard to believe the millions of packages being sent weekly with hand written labela are more scrutinized than printed labels by the usps

Vendor who cares about one's safety wouldn't send packs with handwritten labels at least for two reasons:

  1. Easier to make a mistake in shipping details and loose pack.

  2. This is proof the pack was sent by this vendor.

Think if you want to work with vendor who doesn't give a fuck about these things.

It's clearly one criterion for identifying suspect packs. But I think it depends how it's implemented. I'm surprised vendors don't do handwritten greeting cards with "from:Granny Smith, to: grandson smith". That seems exceptionally non-suspect. However, vendors don't want to leave handwriting traces. So going with a generic sounding eBay business is probably better

for international packs sent by a business (or with a business as the return address)? definitely.

Domestic no, almost every clothing item I've ever bought either had a paypal label or handwritten lmao

Handwritten just draws attention to it as they look at it as a personal package, and not one from a company, so more likely to have contraband.

Typed lables will always blend in better.
