so i have been receiving two day priority packages every Saturday for over a month now from a couple different vendors. i began to start thinking that maybe every Saturday was a bit suspicious, so i decided to order double what i normally do to get down to a bi-weekly delivery.
everything had been going like clock work, vendor ships on Thursday and package is in my mailbox on Saturday. I live within a two day priority zone so packages always arrive on time. Well not this Saturday there was no package in my mailbox. So I messaged the vendor for the tracking number. The vendor said sure I will look it up on Monday if you haven't received it.
Monday comes and I don't have any mail in my box what so ever. Normally there is at least one envelope. The vendor tells me my package has been delivered and sends me the tracking number in a pgp encryption that I can not decrypt. At this point i'm like wtf ? Is the vendor trying to mess with me ? why can't I open the tracking number ? So I sent him another key to encrypt with and said it might show up on Tuesday.
A day goes by and still no package. I read on this sub about someone who had there package mailed to the neighbor and the post office was able to look up the gps coordinates they delivered the package to. By this time the vendor had pgp me the tracking number which I verified as delivered on Monday. I'm still thinking all the vendor has to do is mail something empty to somebody in my city and it will show delivered and use that delivery status to scam me ? This isn't my first order with the vendor and he is reputable so I doubted that but it was a possible explanation.
So on Wednesday I called the post office like anybody would do who had a delivered package that wasn't in their mailbox. The postal worker told me that the package was delivered to (2121), and that the supervisor would have more information and that she may need to contact the driver and would get back in touch with me. I gave them my phone number and name and waited for them to call.
By chance I was walking my dog in the yard and the mailman pulls up. The mailman is new I had never seen him before, he hands me some envelopes and ask him about the delivery I never received and if he was the mailman on Monday. The mailman said no he didn't deliver the mail on Monday and didn't have my package. He didn't look around in the truck or anything was just like no call my supervisor.
So I go inside and see my envelopes have something written on them. They say this is (2119) not (2121). So it seems the mail on Monday got delivered to my neighbor, they put it back in the box on Tuesday and it got re-delivered on Wednesday to the correct address ? I went over to my neighbors and asked them if they received a priority package on Monday as well. They said no.
At this point I'm thinking the neighbors stole my package. There is some un favorable history between us because one of our tree limbs fell into there yard during an ice storm and they took the liberty to cut down our tree and ask to be paid for it. We said we rent talk to the landlord, the landlord wouldn't pay them for the work they did on their own and the old man says my son will get paid one way or another. In the subsequent weeks we had a car radio stolen from a locked vehicle as well as our flat screen tv from the house. We have no proof it was the neighbors but I wouldn't put stealing my mail past them.
So I am pissed off on Thursday staring down the neighbor scraping the sides of house down thinking he is tweaking on my shit. I thought about calling the post office again, but decided to not draw more attention to myself. If anything I would leave the driver a note in the box on Monday asking where the package is. Friday rolls through and low and behold my parcel is in the mailbox. It is completely mangled (see pic), three edges completely opened, in a plastic bag saying "We Care" in order to provide the expedited services we do sometimes things like this happen, sorry.
There is a sticker from signed by the postal inspector saying "Received Unsealed" and the contents of the package just laying inside the completely opened box. Good thing the vendor double Mylar bagged it with a decoy. The only time something like this that has happened to me, was when I ordered sassafras extract. The post collected my mail for a week at the post office and I had to go into the office to pick up my mail because they said there was too much ice on my driveway. The sassafras was in a plastic bag because the original packaging had a giant hole in with bark hanging out. Being the paranoid person I am I thought the postal inspector poked a hole to look inside.
The same with this package, did the postal inspector just open it up to look inside using a sorting machine error as an excuse ? Why did they receive it unsealed ? Why did the tracking take longer than usual and say delivered if it was really jammed up in a sorting machine ? Why did my mail that day get delivered to the wrong address ? That has never happened before ? If it was jammed up why would they mark it as delivered and then hold it for a week before they delivered it ? I don't want to draw any more attention to myself by calling to ask these questions. Do you think my address may be burned for a bit or is the postal system really that fucked up and they deliver things to the wrong people and mash packages all the time ?
Thanks for sharing.. I doubt it was mangled by the machine; it would take a sheer force to rip that thing apart; postal inspector probably randomly profiled your package and decided to see what's inside: nope, all good - very sorry sir! OFF YOU GO! Added decoy was a plus - vendor should do this more often! Alias, they don't..
That's my assumption of what happened. You're.. VERY.. LUCKY!
EDIT: order a couple of clearnet packages and determine if the pattern persist. If it does then you might need to get a new drop. If not then proceed as normal.
