Retrieving old notes/messages as buyer when using PGP key

So I recently made a purchase and in the note I believe I may have made a mistake, and while I messaged the vendor and resolved it, I was curious as to if it was possible to review old notes that are encrypted by both your and the vendor's PGP key. I went back to several messages, put them in the clipboard and tried to decrypt them but they didn't work. To be clear I use GPA and in the instances I tested, did not choose the "send using vendor's public PGP" or whatever the exact wording is. I encrypted it with his key and signed it with mine. Am I doing something wrong or I am not supposed to be able to go back and decrypt a message that is encrypted with a different key, even if I signed it? And if that is the case then what exactly is the purpose and definition of "signing" it Thanks in advance for the help.

If you want to be able to read the message as well you need encrypt it with your key as well as the vendors. If you didn't do that while creating the message you will be unable to decrypt it.

if you only signed with your key you can't decrypt it. signing is only to cryptograhically prove the integrity of the message
