Vendor double shipped to me, what should I do?

So, it was for a personal amount and it cost about $500. I obviously sent him a message telling him what happened. He said shit, he wondered what had happened to that other package.

Anyway, he asked if I would pay him for the second bag, which I will do, but since I only make 1-2 big purchases a month instead of several small ones, I don't exactly have the funds to pay him right now.

He said he'd take some off the price for me being honest and I told him thanks, but he hasn't replied how much he'd take off.

What do you think is a fair price, the full $500. And if so, at what point do I become a dick because I can't pay him yet. I told him it be about another week or so before I could send him the coins and that's typically when I'd be making my next buy anyway.

Any thoughts?

If you plan on ordering from this vendor again in the future, you should pay for it. If you only pay half, for whatever reason you try to justify it, you're going to ruin the relationship and burn what could be a valuable bridge one day.

Get extra high! Nah id ask the vendor what he would want to do. Its not your fault so you shouldnt have to pay for his mistake unless you want to keep a good thing going. Ask the vendor how much he is willing to take off. If it was me it wasn't my fault the vendor put me in this situation. Id keep it all and compensate nothing if you want my honesty because like I said its not my fault.

Talk with the vendor.

Tell him what happened, and he'll say "you can pay if you want, but don't worry about it man" or just "enjoy, my 'bad'"

He can't demand you pay for the rest because he imposed on you by screwing up, because you could just not, and most vendors do not have the infrastructure to accept shipments from customers who know they are vendors. Especially if you're not a super super frequent customer.

So in other words...do let him know so he doesn't accidentally put himself out of business, then enjoy.

[1 Points] DHLMarket:

You shouldn't have to pay for it because it's 100% his fault and 0% your fault. He's saying he's low on cash because he wants you to pay him, but he doesn't want to come off like he's demanding it. He's playing the pity-card (which is pitiful).

I might throw him some leftover money in the future, but I personally would not make the effort to pay him $500 solely for the reason I stated above.

I would pay him $326,50....at my leisure..

This exact thing happened to me I would pay half. But it's obviously not your fault :) You didn't even have to say anything, but you're a good man and you did....enjoy

This has happened to me before and I chalked my reaction up to two things: relationships and karma. In terms of relationships, this was a vendor I was using steadily and although I pointed the problem out to him it could've been only a matter of time before he figured it out.

The karma thing comes into play with what if instead of making up one pack for me and one pack for another customer, he gave me two and shorted the other guy. I'd hate to be that other guy, wondering when the hell my product was ever going to arrive and maybe have to initiate a dispute.

I ended up paying for the whole thing (I offered, it wasn't like I wouldn't have been placing another order with him again soon anyway) but the guy had to wait a week or so. If he had insisted or really even suggested that I pay right away, I probably would've started looking around for a nicer vendor. Instead the experience helped build goodwill and a measure of trust--very rare and valuable commodities in this area. So, in the future when I wanted a custom order, he was a bit more amenable.

I wish things like this happened to me but I think you should make him an offer if you can afford 250 tell him thats what you can afford. I wouldnt wait for him to tell me how much or you could wait and see if he just forgets and chalks it up as a lose OR you could be a dick and say fuck'em and not pay shit but that comes with a potential lose of a good vendor.

I have had this happen to me twice from two different vendors. I messaged them both twice, because I was willing to send them coin.

Neither responded to my messages. Or maybe they thought I was crazy?

Pay for it in full, as soon as you can, but don't stress about not having the funds right now. You didn't ask him to front you.

He can only blame himself. You had nothing to do with it.
