How Long do you guys think this marvelous act will last.

Now we all know how SR1 has gone down and has came back. I want to know everyone opinion if the markets will stay around for ever or the government is planning to shut it all down. Sounds stupid but i just want to here someone else's input that inst my idiotic friends.

It's like a hydra. Where theres a will, theres a way. These things will never disappear. They will change form. They might even change shape. But they will never go away. I feel like they will stay here until the laws change. When our government realizes how much tax money is wasted on the silly "War on Drugs!" and how it isn't doing anything besides wasting money, they will change. The federal goverment has overstepped it's boundaries and gotten far too powerful. Things in this country are eventually going to break, and it's not going to be the markets.I would like to add this is coming from a US standpoint, and it's more idealistic than anything else. I also hope we eventually move into a decentralized marketplace where the market is simply an add for the vendor and nothing more. Hopefully one day we'll have such trusted vendors that we can do business through bitmessage or secure encrypted emails.

[edit] Also, fuck Silkroad. They leeched off of the name. I'm glad they're the ones that get all the press and not the actually decent markets. "Silkroad fell and has come back." More like Silkroad fell, and BMR closed, then all of a sudden 19 other motherfuckers took their place and do it better.

If the anonymity of Tor and i2p are broken, and nothing comes in to replace it, yes. Otherwise, no. Too easy to set up a marketplace, and too lucrative to not set one up.

The one real weak point in all of this is the mail. Its almost impossible to stop unless they come up with some technology thats very effective at finding drugs.

If they shut one down, there will be another, and another, and another. They took down SR1 and Sheep and BMR rose up to fill the void, when they went off we arguably got 5 markets to replace them. With Agora, SR2, BSM, C9, Evo and many others working in competition with each other and vendors selling across multiple markets we have way more listings and availability than ever before and it grows day by day.

The only way I see it going down is if someone can de-anon TOR, but even if that happens from what I understand I2P could be a viable replacement. It is highly unlikely it will go away, something else will just replace it until drug prohibition ends, there is too much money to be made and plenty of people willing to risk it.

About as affective as shutting down Napster was at killing piracy ;)

Until legalization.

I think a few years. At least until some really gruesome stuff starts to get sold on DNMs. I feel like their going to just go straight to computer manufacturers and get them to preinstall codes that make it impossible to use tor or tails (at least without raising a red flag)

Forever. They busted a bunch of people back before we used actual websites and btc and things got even easier after that. Now we have websites and aren't in the dark, so there is no way we'll give this up. The government can't shut thtem all down. It's next to impossible. SR didn't really come back, though. THat place sketches me out.

Careful talking to your idiotic friends about this kind of stuff.
