Upgrading OPSEC

I'm moving into a new place soon and want to take this opportunity to upgrade my OPSEC. I'm already pretty solid on it, latest version of tails etc., but I will no longer be sharing an internet connection and would like to get a VPN. I've done a bit of research into this and haven't been able to come up with a clear answer. What is this best VPN as far as DNM activities are concerned? Like not saving records, non 5 eyes compliant, payable with BTC, etc.? And will using a VPN throttle my connection for clearnet activities like streaming Netflix and online gameing? Thanks in advance for any answers, I wont be able to respond untill later tonight when I'm off work and out of classes.

Can you articulate why you think you want a VPN? Because you almost certainly don't need one, and they do very little to improve your security or anonymity. And they may even hurt it.

Adding a VPN to Tor is like putting stickers on a race car and claiming that it makes it work better. VPNs are not anonymity tools, and you shouldn't believe their marketing that sells them as such.

A much, much more effective way to improve your anonymity would be to invest the money that you would throw away on a VPN in a good long-range Atheros-based wireless card (like an Alfa) with a good directional antenna, instead, and use a nearby network instead of your own.

AirVPN - takes Bitcoin, 4096bit encrypted tunnel, New private session key every 30-60mins, no logs, enough users to be worth using it, good amount of servers in multiple countries

VPNs can almost always be turned on and off. Use your own discretion for using the VPN for "shady" business but there is absolutely no need to leave it on for Netflix or gaming. It will very likely slow your connection noticeably and is unnecessary.

How on earth do you use a vpn with tails? I gave up on that and used bridges.

Trust.Zone, big fan, meets all requirements! :)

In my opinion, NordVPN. You can of course use more than one VPN though, which will make it more difficult to trace you. AirVPN seems to be good as well.

Take a look at this website and you will surely make the right choice: https://thatoneprivacysite.net/

The TAILS developers believe that a VPN actually lowers you anonymity, which is why VPN support was intentionally left out of TAILS. Anyone who thinks they're smarter than the developers of one of the most secure operating systems in the world is welcome to take their chances. We need low hanging fruit. ;)
