As stated in all the news stories, early on the forum registration included his hotmail address in the header. Does anyone have the raw evidence for that?
Does anyone have the raw evidence of alphabay's email header that got the admin caught?

Here's a possibility/theory that I haven't heard, but which could be a possibility:
That his pimp_alex91
email was used on a forum reset email, but only during Cazes' initial testing, never seen by the public.
The email, with those headers, could have been sitting undisturbed in a random Sigaint email inbox; but which then got uncovered (perhaps by sheer accident) when Sigaint was breached in the second half of last year**
The Feds say they received the information in December of 2016.
Does anyone here remember when exactly the breach happened?

No, and there was a pretty solid theory about it that explained that it was just a made up thing from the dea/fbi/XXX to mask that they used illegal methods to catch the guy. Posted not too long ago, if you scroll through top of the month you can find it I think :)

You know, now that he's dead, I think Alexander Cezev Alexandre Cazes (you gotta get the name right!) is now a name you can get all non-active investigation FBI files for through FOIA. https://www.fbi.gov/services/records-management/foipa/requesting-fbi-records
Maybe wait until early next year or so, their entire investigation should be done by then... one would hope. Hell I hope it's over now, but there's no way I'm requesting his FBI files. Anyone wanting to collect whatever the FBI will give you thru FOIA could get mail forwarding service in the USA and use a service called "scan mail" or "scan your mail" and get each page emailed to you. So you could do it totally anonymously if you really wanted to. Maybe ask deepdotweb to do it! They probably would... paging /u/deepdot!
You can get FOIA FBI docs on yourself or people who are dead. They'll send files for investigations which are over. Aaron Swartz did this when he was still alive.
Same with the DEA, IRS, etc. Just look on their sites and go to the FOIA section.

The Feds I guess

Yes. You can quote me on that. I did not believe it at all when I first read about it, but I was talking with a friend about the likelihood of this story being true about the forum welcome email header. He asked a friend of his. That friend checked his old email account, and indeed, the pimp_alex91@hotmail.com email address was in the header. He still had the email.
I thought they were making it up, like they probably did with the SR server CAPTCHA IP leak hokey story, but this AlphaBay one turns out to be true. I would note the FBI says they got it as a tip from a 3rd party in 2016, so, it's not like the FBI could even find an email header on their own apparently.
edit - don't downvote me just because you don't want to believe this is true. I did not believe it when the feds claimed it either, but now I do.

Does it really even matter? What's done is done
that is most likely parallel construction and false.
Cazes would have to dispute that and prove it was there; this would mean he'd have to admit to being the admin.
