Someone Accessed Silk Road Operator's Account While Ross Ulbricht Was in Jail

Attorneys for Ross Ulbricht, the man convicted of running the Silk Road online drug marketplace under the pseudonym "Dread Pirate Roberts" say they've discovered evidence that someone logged into the Dread Pirate Roberts account on the Silk Road forums six weeks after Ulbricht was arrested. Ulbricht was in federal custody at the time.

If this piece of evidence is authentic, the logical conclusion is that someone else had access to the account that was said to belong to the mastermind of the massive Dark Web drug bazaar. Given the login occurred after the principal arrest in the Silk Road investigation, it may also indicate that whoever did it was someone with a law enforcement background, had access to the investigation, or was "another" Dread Pirate Roberts.

I think we already knew this. The last login date appeared under the silk road forums username and DPR's changed publicly after Ross had been arrested.

Folks always theorized that more than one admin could access the DPR forum account for making announcements if the real DPR was sick, or traveling, or whatever. The SR users were like rabid dogs about downtimes, demanding instantaneous info after any hiccup.

Some also theorized that the post-arrest login was executed intentionally in order to create just this type of doubt in the courts.

DOES ANYONE SERIOUSLY STILL THINK THAT ROSS ULBRICHT REALLY DID ALL THAT WAS SAID?

Wow, I thought we weren't flocking with all the sheep. Maybe it's just me and a few others then...

FYI "Dread Pirate Roberts" was passed down through many people. Just think, how do you think SR2 and other onion markets came up so quickly?

Don't you know what "Dread Pirate Roberts" even means?

for the those who don't understand : Ross Ulbricht was a pawn in the game -partially- and when I say partially I mean he was mostly a pawn. Which is why he does not deserve the charges he is facing today.

And no, it wasn't just a "support team" signing in to the account. There were more "Dread Pirate Roberts" than you can count with one hand.

There was definitely more than one DPR, which i believe is well known by old users of silk rd.

I'm sure i've read that there will be a movie about it all soon, by the Coen bros. There will be all sorts of documentaries and new shocking reveals in the passage of time no doubt, and also don't believe Ross will spend the rest of his life behind bars, but he isn't getting out any time soon, maybe another dacade or two.

fairly common knowledge that more than one person operated the DPR forum account.

the fact that it was still up after the main site got seized probably means it one of the admin or sexto logging in.

I know I'm just speculating here... But, wouldn't it be possible for the feds to have done this in the course of their investigation? If they needed evidence contained in PMs on the DPR account, they would have to have logged into it at some point. Six weeks after the arrest seems about right as far as a timeline for the investigation goes, it probably took that long for them to get the proper warrants and find the password. IMO, this seems a lot more likely than the theory of multiple DPR's.

I think DPR account was almost definitely run by more than one person, however I think the forum posting was Ross. I think the variety Jones character did most of the security work.

At the end of the day nobody should be sharing accounts. Buyers vendors or site admin. You just can't trust someone else not to drop you in it.
