Vendor carelessness

Hello everyone. Check this out.

Got a pack in a few days ago. You know how it goes..go to the mail box, open box, jump for joy cuz your..items.. are here! take the envelope, package, box, whatever back inside with you and tear it open to get to the items. Well I did this like we all do, then the next day I am bored and look at the envelope my items came in..and I see that there is another address sticker below the one that has my info listed on it. Being the curious person that I am I attempt to carefully unstick the labels from each other and I successfully do. Now I'm staring at a sticker with some other guys name and address. I then find the guy on facebook. And that's it. I just know that some other unscrupulous type people would use this as a way to doxx someone and it's obviously a big problem that this vendor let this happen. stay safe out there everyone!

EDIT: I am not going to give vendors name and here's why: he's been nothing but a great vendor and I believe this is a careless mistake and I have sent him a message so he can rectify the problem. This is also not my first time to order from him and never noticed anything out of the ordinary before. If he doesn't fix it and I start seeing posts about the same kind of thing happening then I think that would be a good reason to name and shame. We all try our best (lol... at least I hope we all do) to have strong OPSEC and before this incident with this vendor he had good OPSEC and I believe this was just a mistake. But please, if you guys see something like this on one of your packs please make a post so we can see if this is a trend.

This is a good post but useless unless you name and shame the vendor

Good on you to keep their info to yourself.

Name and shame the vendor mate.

Also, good on you for not doing anything with that information.

This is actually the 2nd time Ive heard of this exact thing happening; although its good of you to not do anything unsavory with the other dudes info (i would hope 99% of us wouldnt), the vendor should get named. This is an extremely stupid and lazy thing to do on the vendors part and naming and shaming will hopefully force them to think about things and step their game up.

By Naming the vendor you are achieving what this sub is supposed to be about safety and harm reduction, what if it was le that word that package then not only do they have information on that vendor they also have information on one of his buyers as well because of the carelessness of the vendor, and if the buyer on the bottom label happens to be a bulk buyer then you're looking at another investigation and that person gets f***** for vendors stupidity.... and you better trust and believe law enforcement order packages all the time, treat everyone as if they are law enforcement including your vendors.....

And for God's sake please name this vendor so they won't do it again and you can keep the people that don't like slopsec vendors from ordering from them!

You should send a message to the vendor. Some of us hire people to work under us and he might not know it happened. I have thrown many envelopes away due to doing derpy crap like sticking labels on wrong or packing the wrong stuff and then realizing it before i mail it (resulting in me opening it)

I would trust that my people know better than that crap.

I think the correct action would be to politely tell the vendor. Raise your concern with the vendor and explain why it was poor practice to do what he did. Sure, he/she made a potentially horrible mistake, but no need to rip their head off or anything.

I've had some strange issues in the past and always bring it up with the vendor. Usually dumb mistakes they made that could result in them inadvertently doxxing themselves (rare) or finding physical evidence that LE could use to identify the vendor like DNA evidence. I just politely tell them what happened and they are usually appreciative about it. They also tend to fix the issue!

This happened to me on SR1 once. It was a package from the biggest domestic vendor too.

I don't think this is a problem. You dont know the other user's Username, in fact you know very little about anything but the other person. So DOXing is not possible. Some Vendors get do stupid shit, but as long as you let them know that problem directly they WILL fix it and likely NEVER do it again. Vending on DN is a art form that takes evolving. Just let them know, NO need to name and shame in my opinion. Just shoot them a PM or whatever, and let them know. Likely is the case that they will NEVER do it again. Don't be a dick man, take it from me. Don't be 'that guy'. Don't be the other people here. Don't go down to the heartlessness and cold attitude most users here have. Just let them know what happened and how it is a security issue, I a sure you that it will never be a problem again.
