So I just wanted to go over a few things that I have noticed recently and I also wanted to talk about a few things that I've been meaning to post for a while. So lets begin ...
Phishing Links
Recently there have been quite a few accounts posting fake links here. I want to remind everybody to check the sidebar before you follow any links that are posted here. I know this seems like common sense but you know ... some people.
The accounts that are posting these links are pretty easy to spot. Usually the username combines a random word with a number (ex: Stapler22) and the account is usually only a few hours old. If you check their posting history you'll usually see a post made that says something like "New link for X market." or "Log onto X market even with Ddos." then a comment posting that link and then a comment supporting another phishing account that says something like "Thanks bro, it worked for me."
If you see someone posting fake links please make sure to report it. Downvoting and telling people that it is fake helps out a lot but sometimes the mods will miss it if it hasn't been reported. We remove and ban those accounts as fast as we see them but its a never ending battle and all we can do is try to keep their exposure to a minimum. This brings me to my next point ...
Reporting
The report button is NOT a super downvote. I've seen a few posts and comments with reports that are unnecessary. Reporting should be reserved for serious rule breaking and harmful posts, not people that you disagree with. If you report a post that isn't obviously breaking the rules but you think should be removed please message the mods (with a link to said comment or post) and tell us why you think it should be removed.
Sidebar Links
I just want to remind everyone that the links in the sidebar are informative only and don't represent our opinions as mods. Although we do verify that all links are correct it doesn't mean that we necessarily trust or use those markets.
Rules
I want to explain the rules we have in the sidebar to clear up any confusion that may exist. I also want to say that if you disagree with any rules or have any suggestions for rules to be added feel free to message us and discuss it, but that doesn't always mean anything will change.
No advertisements or deals unrelated to Darknet markets will be allowed.
This rule has been revised recently because of some misunderstanding where certain posts were being removed and others were being approved. So let me explain it, the rule was created to keep people from treating this subreddit as a market. We didn't want people coming here and saying things like "I got weed to sell. Here is my number, gmail, etc."
However, we are okay with real DarkNet vendors coming here and announcing sales, new products, etc. as long as no business specifically occurs here.
There is to be no solicitation of fiat (excluding charities and the like).
This was made because a while ago we had a few posts where people were begging for money. We don't want people coming here and begging for money to buy drugs, that isn't what these subreddits are about. If you want to make BTC check out /r/coinflow or /r/Jobs4Bitcoins, do something productive to get your drug money.
The second part of the rule is that we are okay with charities and things of that nature to be posted here. If you want to post a place where you can donate to some kind of relevant (relevant meaning something to do with the DarkNet, Drugs, or Harm Reduction; don't post your charity for neckbeard recovery here.) charity then we are okay with that.
No names, personal info, pictures, ect. (includes doxxing)
These markets are all about anonymity so don't be posting shit that will expose your identity here. Also please don't post anyone else's info here either, if you think that you doxxed the admin of a market you can post publicly that you have and the mods can verify it but we don't want to see personal information posted publicly.
No trading, exchanging, or laundering of fiat / goods / people / animals / jellies / jams.
This is not a market, don't be doing business here. If you must do business through Reddit (which is stupid by the way) do it privately at least.
If your post has been covered in the FAQ, it will be removed (pending review from a moderator)
We're actually pretty lax on this one. Just try to do research before posting your question here. A lot of stuff is answered both in our FAQ and in the /r/SilkRoad FAQ. Also Moronic Monday is a perfect opportunity to ask any relevant question you want without fear of being called stupid or what have you.(because I get to remove those abusive comments :D) Most of us did hours of research before asking any questions and a lot of information can be found simply by using the search bar, if you want to use these markets you can't expect others to do all the work for you.
We reserve the right to remove any post, comment, link without prior notice to the submitter.
This is pretty self-explanatory. Mods have final say, usually we don't remove posts but if/when we do its the final word. You can message us and I urge you to do so if you think a post has been unfairly removed, sometimes it is a mistake and sometimes not all the mods are in agreement about it. We can discuss it and figure out where to go from there.'
Shill accounts will be banned without warning, and if the behavior continues, the vendor will be black-listed.
These subreddits are about truthful and helpful information. Using shill accounts here to support yourself or slander others is not okay and we will ban them and if it continues we will tell people not to use you as a vendor because obviously you are not trustworthy. Most of the mods here were the same people that were finding and calling out Dod's many shills, so we're pretty good at it.
If a vendor receives five (5) or more verified reports of scamming, they will be black-listed.
If a vendor recieves five (5) or more verified reports of false-advertisement of their product, they will be black-listed.
These are pretty easy to understand. Although we haven't had to use the Blacklist too much so either its because vendors have been pretty good lately or because we have forgotten to update it. I hope its the first one.
Anyone using silly emoticons to try to fight me will receive an immediate ban and I will tell DoD that you are Adrian Chen.
You know who you are ...
Messaging the mods
Feel free to message us. Seriously, most of the time we're talking about stupid shit so any chance to actually be serious is a refreshing change. If you have anything you want to talk to us about let us know, we're all reasonable people.
So that was just what I wanted to post, to clear things up and to make certain things known. If you have any questions/comments/complaints/accusations of fascism please post them in the comments below.
