Are giftcards an OPSEC mistake?

Specifically asking about Amazon. Anyone making money from their darknet activities knows that they have to be cautious about what they do with their profits, and I was wondering if it's safe to use Amazon giftcards to buy personal goods. The danger I'm imagining is that Amazon could report transactions to the IRS and if they see that I have hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of transactions using gift cards, it could raise a red flag to investigate further.

If your big enough, use money laundering. Say your selling ebooks foe crypto, boom. Small scale, I'm not sure.

Yeah duh.

Remember they sit around thinking about this stuff a lot harder than you. Also, they have experience and get to watch other people try before you. Also, they write artificial intelligence software to do it all for them.

You have to do many things. Just like with eating food you can't eat just one food. You can't wash your money in just 1 way either. =)

Depends on how the cards were purchased. Are you talking about buying with cash at the store, buying from amazon? Getting them from someone shady who bought with stolen CC info?

I don't think amazon will report you if you are only dealing with "hundreds or thousands" problems usually start in the 5 digits.
