Hiya all. Sooo... I have a quick question for you... have any of you ever picked up a DNM (or any type, really) package at your Post Office before it's delivered? Let's say you're tracking it and it looks like it will be arriving at your PO Thursday morning. Okay, so, Thursday rolls around and it says your pack landed at your PO as expected, however, it did NOT get there in time for your carrier to deliver it on their rounds. Has anyone then been able to go to the Post Office and actually pick up their pack since it's there? Hopefully all goes well and my package is delivered with my mail per usual. If not though, I'm REALLY hoping I can use this as a back-up plan. I really don't want to deal with Christmas / finishing shopping / wrapping everything without my order. Ha ha. I've read something about an unreliable USPS service that "reroutes" or stops your package at the PO... but it costs money and isn't guaranteed. (Of course, my pack's tracking may not show that it's at my local Post Office anyway and I could just be fucked.) Does anyone have ANY experience with this?
Also, for anyone who's tracked a package, do you find the "expected delivery date" to be an accurate ETA? The expected date on my package seems way later than it should be... could be because of the holidays... or it could just be USPS covering their asses?
Thanks for any and all help!!!! :-)
That would have worked 50 years ago. These days your mail never sees the inside of your local USPS branch (unless it's a PO Box), 30 minutes at most if you're on a rural route. Once it leaves the destination sort facility it is already bundled for delivery by the route carrier. Plus the notion of any extra attention is poor OPSEC. The mail system is very automated, don't disrupt the natural rthymn unless you must, then give gifts after doing so.
