Suggestions for medical marijuana for joint pain/arthritis/parkinsons

Hello guys,

The situation is my uncle's health is in rapid decline and he has terrible joint pain, arthritis, and the doctor just announced he has Parkinson's. Odds are he won't survive the next couple of years at this rate. I want to help him if I can and am looking for oils or edibles that can possibly help alleviate his pain and at least make him feel a little better. I don't want anything that will get him baked, I'm looking for the healing/pain relief properties only. We live in a US state where marijuana is still 100% illegal. War Eagle.

I usually shop on AlphaBay for LSD and am fairly unfamiliar with marijuana, and looking on there now I have no idea what the fuck I'm seeing. Can anyone familiar with the medicinal strands offer me any advice?

Here is my plan: I want to get the goods and give them to my uncle. I don't know his stance on the issue of marijuana, we have never discussed it. I will explain what I have done and lay out the facts about the benefits of medical marijuana, and I will highly suggest he try it out for a few days and see what he thinks. I will tell him if he is entirely uncomfortable with the idea I will leave the product on the counter and he is free to dispose of it. If he decides it is a good idea and wishes to continue with dosing, I will provide it for him.

My grandfather died recently from a brain tumor; the chemo is what ultimately killed him - within days of the first treatment. I know in my heart medical marijuana could have eased his pain and possibly I would still have my grandfather today. I don't want to see my uncle go down in misery too.

I would recommend you check out /r/DankNation for this type of advise, I'm also a mod over there, and I think you would get a some good help there as well.

I've approved this post here as well, perhaps some one familiar with using MMJ for those diseases can weigh in.

If you go to leafly dot com there is an area called explore. It will allow you to choose what you want to treat and give suggestions for which strains may help. You are doing a good thing. Thoughts with you that all works out.

Hello,

I answered your Q on /r/DankNation, but for those that would like it here as well (I hate clicking on another link):

Greetings from a MMJ patient (Major CNS disorder).

L-DOPA is a bitch (which I'm sure they want to put him on for Parkinson's at his age).

ANYWAY:

There are multiple Cannaboids, Terpines, and Flavanoids that interact with each other. These specific interactions is what leads some strains to be better for certain conditions vs. others.

For joint pain/arthritis you are going to need some level of THC to find relief. The CBD will help lower the "high" from the THC while still giving plenty of the proper cannaboids for the CB2 receptors to activate to provide pain relief.

Below would be my personal top recommendations (in order) for arthritis with the minimal "high".

  1. Harlequin - Typically has around 12%+ CBD and around 5-6% THC.

  2. Cannatonic - Typically has around 12%+ CBD and around 8-10% THC.

  3. AC/DC - Typically has around 16%+ CBD and around 1% THC.

As for PD (Parkinsons Disease):

  1. Charlotte’s Web - High CBD 15%+, low THC ~.2%. *Note, CW makes some patients quite dizzy.

  2. AC/DC (as above).

There are others for PD but the strains can be harder to get and will have a higher THC content. Most of the African Mainland strains are good for PD.

I hope this helps!
