Is this a common best practice? I live in a multi-family housing complex and am wondering if I should do the same.
How many of you wait to open packages / write return to sender? (Home Delivery)

I wait about 2 minutes. I think when I first started doing this I'd write return to sender, but not really wait, just open it. LOL. I have no patience.
I open it, secure the goods, rip up the tracking and address label, and next time I go out of hte house go throw that away somewhere away from the house. That's probably even a little overboard but its not really extra work so I just do it to be extra safe.

Holy shit, I thought I was the only one!
When my mailman comes with that brown bubble mailer with the priority stamp on it, we both know it's about to go down. We whip out our Caprisun straws, poke the envelope, and do like a 10 second toot right on the goddam sidewalk. Right after that, I always write return to sender, because you never know if LE is gonna try to fuck you over later.

I just throw it into the fireplace and set it into the flame

Never. As soon as I get it from the box it's ripped open and stashed away.
