VeraCrypt is arguably the most popular fork of TrueCrypt, and I've been using it myself for quite some time. Today I began perusing the internet to see if this software had been endorsed by any major privacy advocate groups. I'm turning up surprisingly short - it seems there has been no "official" review of VeraCrypt's source code, only the last release of TrueCrypt. There's also no mention of the software on Prism Break, and the EFF doesn't seem to have an opinion either as far as I know.
What do you guys think? Any reputable sources out there that recommend VeraCrypt?
Why not just use the last version of truecrypt before the warrant canary came out? I don't see any need to update to anything else currently.
