Fucked.

Okay so I'm somewhat new to tails. I got persistance, and decided I'd change all my passwords on the markets I have an account on. I changed them to random words, and saved it into KeyPass. Well, being somwhat new to tails, I saved the database into the wrong destination. When I closed tails, and go back on now, it didn't save. And wow, guess what? I forgot those random words. What do I do? I have orders on two sites. Some markets will let me reset my password if I had my public key on my profile, but I don't. Am I completely fucked? I remember my username and pin. But that's about it.

Happens to everybody at least once. Contact the market using another username and give them as much information about your account (things you would know that other people wouln't) and see if they will reset it for you. Explain to them what happen in the same way you explained to us here now. They might wait a day or two incase they consider your attempt a hijack - but dump everything you can think of about the account - when you signed up, what orders you made, etc. and help prove to them you are the account owner.

After you lose your passwords once, you learn to create TrueCrypt containers and backup everywhere.

I agree with the other comment about not needing Tails - just running Whonix or Tor with TrueCrypt container should suffice if you're just making the odd order.

Hope you get your account back.

I hate any kind of password containers for this kind of reason, its a lot easier to make a nice, easy to remember but unique password:

For example, your friend is called Jenny. Last six digits of her phone number are 987 654. You then get j9e8n7n6y54. At a guess, that's probably going to be pretty secure against a dictionary based attack, and if you forget the password you know you can figure it out. Want a longer one? use two friends.

Hell, you can even transpose the letters if you are super paranoid, rather than jenny we hit the key to the left of the correct letter- hwbbt in this case, and use that intertwined with numbers.

Lots of ways you can do it, so that all you need to remember is a person, or a thing, or a location, rather than try and remember an alphanumeric string or rely on leaving your passcodes somewhere "safe".

Since all sites will auto finalize after X number of days, as long as you get your orders you'll be OK. Just get new accounts and start over.

this is why i fucking hate passwords and pins
there's no worse feeling in the world realizing you just lost a shitload of passwords after randomly deleting a text file and then the shit you have to go through getting them back, if this is possible

Maybe don't be so paranoid. I mean unless your a vendor, or buying large amounts of drugs (I mean $1000's worth). I don't think there's a need to go that far and install tails and do all that. The farthest I would go is buy a vpn and use that with tor. Sorry OP but the cops really won't waste there time trying to catch some guy buying a bag of pot....
