So theoretically, if someone was caught with Methoxamine by the police would there be any way for the officer to prove it is what it is? With the help of a lab? Have a friend who got caught with some and is waiting for the results from the place it was sent off to to be tested.

Analytical chemist here. Yes, simple GC/MS identification. Takes 35 minutes and some mouse clicks and is fully admissable in court, as mass-spectrums are unique to each compound. The GC/MS software contains a database (NIST11 for drugs) with known mass-spectrums and does a simple comparison. All you have to do is put a few mg in methanol or other organic solvent and run it.
