PSA: Check yo post history before you wreck yoself

Hi fellow users,

Not many of your here know me but I have been a lurker for sometime and have witnessed a few ups and downs in the dark market community. I'm sure most of us practice caution in ordering so as to avoid being scammed as well as practicing opsec. Despite the vast amount of info surrounding these topics on DNM forums as well as this subreddit, I have noticed an alarming trend.

Many users use /r/darknetmarkets as a place to gather and discuss our favorite marketplaces, however I was astonished to see how much I could find out about "anon" users just by post history. Lots of teens post about hobbies, school,I even found a few Craigslist postings and what not.

While for many of you the general consensus is that to Leo buyers are not worth the effort, I tend to feel this way as well and really hope it's true(lol), but even if it is the case, it is no excuse to not maintain opsec(especially when it's as simple as not confusing your reddit presences). This personal info is simply a foothold for a new wave of scammers. I honestly hope and believe that this community is wising up to scammers and thus allow us to deal with them, but once this market goldrush phase ends and FE scammers and the like are weeded out, what will be left with? The scams aren't going to stop people, this is a multimillion dollar trade and everyone wants a piece. And any information that can be seized by filthy scammers will be fully used.

As I said this post isn't directed at all users, rather it is aimed to help users conduct transactions safely and limit the possibilities of catastrophes happening in our community, cause lets all be honest, we've been having a bit too much lately :'p.

Tl;dr don't keep coins on a market, use pgp, use different credentials across sites, tumble, don't download suspicious files, and using tails as well as no script is highly recommend and not exceedingly difficult

How does tumbling help at all if everyone using the tumbling site is going to buy drugs? Seems like a waste of money. The tumbling site would only be effective if there was a large enough pool of people not doing illegal things.

Better advice: DONT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING! DOWNLOAD TAILS AND TOR OVER CLEARNET. Verify them. Better to play it super safe. It never ceases to astonish me how little people read about the warnings from Tor, and what mistakes not to make.

It is my understanding that with services like bitcoin fog users deposit their coins into a communal wallet it works roughly like such:

User sends coin to fog wallet->upon withdrawal fog takes small amounts of coin from the 'communal' wallet and distributes to your address upon you then do what you want.

The purpose of such services are so as to make the process of following a transaction more difficult and with small amounts near impossible. **tl;dr yes a majority of users of tumbling services use them to purchase drugs, however the point is to obscure the path from your main wallet to your DNM wallet(which you should only deposit an exact purchase amount into)

Heed my words well: I fucked up in keeping my internet life separate from my real identity once.

Don't use the same alias across many sites unless its either a "clean" or "dirty" identity. I adhere to this policy with btc and my wallets also.

Exercise restraint in giving out your personal info.

Research your shit, kids! :P

Are there any infographics for using Tails? I saw an awesome infographic the other day for using SR2.
