Sorry if none of this makes sense, I'm pretty drunk. Consider that my disclaimer.
So I read this article, one part in particular stood out to me:
...Canadian officials approved the necessary amendments to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act of 2000 to include the bitcoin...
I was wondering what implications this would have on Canadians who use BTC.
I would post to /r/legaladvice
I am lobali for DNM subreddits but have my "original" identity. That sub is by far my favorite subreddit to read when I just want to read interesting facts.
However, they have this strange anti-bitcoin "culture" - one poster in specific is a older-middle aged judge who is grumpy and sarcastic but I respect him to the end of the earth. They will jokingly butler-alert him and he will go off about hating bitcoins. Everyone will laugh a bit - it's like any sub has a running anti-something inside joke.
But the sub is actually full of real attorneys and take questions seriously. I'm not sure how many canadian attorneys there are, but most often they'll give you really straight, totally correct answers.
Some tips - try hard to not get defensive or argue about the bitcoin snark, and definitely make a throwaway. If you don't appear to be an example of why they have anti-bitcoin attitudes (they feel they are meant for drugs and tax evasion of money laundering, etc.) - many will take the time to give well-cited, clear explanations.
