Upping my Opsec --> burner laptop question

I figure it's a good investment for opsec reasons...I can spare ~$150 on a laptop that won't make downloading tails onto a usb a nuisance.

I was guessing a Linux of some sort? Any recommendations that are real cheap? I'm only gonna use this laptop for DNM purposes only.

Cheers

You can boot to TAILS via USB for your OS every time. Perhaps this is a better question for https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarketsNoobs/

Linux Mint is decent and easy to use.

There is a thread on the dark market noobs thread about this. Covers this question to some length. I think it is a good idea, and so does the tutorial writer for the noobs section. Check out the thread there.

Look on eBay for a Dell Latitude D430. Be sure it has 4gb ram.

It's the perfect DNM machine. Compact, powerful enough, very compatible with Linux. http://www.linlap.com/dell_latitude_d430

If it has a HDD, install Linux Ubuntu 14.0.2 LTS. Then you can use Tails, or the OS. No hard drive, even better. Boot a micro USB with Tails...you're set.

Edit: The whole shebang will run under $100. That's including an 8GB micro USB for Tails.

Off lease ThinkPads are perfect for this.
