Wrong Zip Code on order

So, last night I was pretty tired and when I placed an order to my PO box, I put in my house address zip code instead of the PO box zip code (they are different). By the time I realized my folly the order had shipped. So I have 5 grams of speed paste coming from an overseas vendor shipped to the correct address, but the wrong zip code. What can I expect to happen? Will it arrive at all? Will it arrive with a delay? Or will the extra scrutiny the package is put under for having an incorrect address lead to my downfall?

Thanks.

Thats a toss up. USPS uses zip codes to sort the mail. It may end up being delayed as one of my non-dnm packages was with a wrong zip (was only one digit at the end) or returned to sender for invalid delivery address, which would mean you take the loss.

Is there a post office located in the zip code that you accidentally used? If so there may be a PO box there with the same number as yours. If not I think you'll be fine.

This is GENERALLY no big deal. I also have a PO BOX and a home address. Let's say the PO BOX is 25535 and my home is 25515 (fake zips but close to my own), often it takes 1-2 days of extra sorting before it makes it to me.

But... this is with real mail, with my real name on it. See, the sorting facility knows Joe I. Blow lives at 123 Fake Street and also owns PO BOX 420. I'm not quite sure what would happen if there was a fake name on it.

Sincerely

I can only speak out of experiences from the UK. This happens a lot with mail in general as the volume that is sent it is not unlikely that someone somewhere is going to make an error one time or another. When the shipping information is sent to me I write it down to the letter. Some buyers have sent me information with errors such as wrong post code and spelling mistakes, which I can only assume are not spelling mistakes until I receive a message telling me they made an error. These packages have always arrived as normal but in some circumstances this may not be the case. In your case they may realize a mistake if the zip code is wrong and they may choose to ship it to the address. On the other hand they may just go off the zip code you gave them. It is 50/50 but I assure you your package will turn up at either one or the other.

i have experienced this as well. it came just fine. hopefully there is not an identical PO box # at the zip code you provided.

I'm pretty sure that means it will go to the PO in your zip and not the zip of your PO box(assuming there is one in that zip).

But other people said it would sort out after a day or two, which I guess would make sense since it has your name on it, so they know where it was meant to go.

If it has tracking, use USPS package intercept. It's very useful.
