I think I've seen this asked in a comment somewhere but it deserves it's own thread, market admins could benefit from this speculation.
The United States has some of the harshest drug laws in the world, would Ross still see "a light at the end of the tunnel" if he had started the Silkroad in a less control hungry and politically motivated country?
Most of the articles I've read only talk about US agencies pursuing Ross, what if they followed their leads to someone in a country like Paraguay where drugs are decriminalized? If Ross was a traditional criminal who fled the country he could be extradited for crimes committed well in the US, but what if he left the country before actually launching the market so no "crimes" were committed in the US?
In that scenario I would think he couldn't be extradited to the US considering SR was used globally, if the US could claim him then couldn't any country? But I remembered Peter Nash was extradited simply for being a moderator. Does the US really have the power to claim people who never entered the US? Whats the logic behind that? Is it because the US was so invested in actively investigating the Silkroad? What if the FBI finds the admin of the (Russian) RAMP marketplace, will they be extradited to the US as well?
For future market admins, what are some of the safest or most tolerable countries to start a market without risking the rest of your life? Another thing to consider is what if the admin migrates to another country? I'm guessing any country would work with the US to arrest the suspect, but what if the later country chooses to prosecute, could the US extradite him after the first sentence is complete?
I have many questions about this but I want to hear opinions and ideas from others, and especially people who have a better understanding of legal and political affairs.
Utopia guys in NL got like 6 years, that's including a murder for hire charge and some other irl drug/guns stuff.
