Does the government just not care?

I feel like this is a rare time in history for drug users. It seems everybody should stock up now while it lasts, because I don't think this will last forever. Does the government just not care if anybody can obtain drugs for personal consumption? Is the government getting lighter on drugs?

I am shocked at how easy it is. Anybody can put money in a bitcoin ATM, download tor, and get drugs to their house. How long can these markets possibly last?

Should they have ever cared? It'd be about fucking time if they stopped.

It's a numbers game that the Feds simply can not win. With over 65 Billion parcels of mail shipped each year there is no way they can catch even a small fraction of them. Any effort to police more heavily would impact millions of innocent citizens.

[7 Points] goodluckbrah:

The only thing that uncle sam cares about is conviction rates and public perception. I'm not even talking politically, the police like it when they seem useful.

If you're importing things quietly and not saying anything about it, 99.99% of the time, no, they're not going to give a single fuck. So long as you're not being loud or slanging, there's no way they would know what you're doing, or would they care.

[8 Points] Theeconomist1:

Well, I'm sure they care. They are putting on a big show for Ross. I don't think they are even getting lighter, especially if you are looking at the feds. Remember marijuana legalization is happening on the state level, the feds are in a stalemate with the states for now and are just kind of looking the other one on that, but I don't forsee legislation at the federal level legalization it anytime soon.

I think its just the amount of effort involved in busting up markets plus hte fact that servers are not usually within US jurisdiction. And honestly, we don't know the true amount of efforts being put into breaking up the markets. If they can catch anyone, even a personal user, they will -> that's why you don't make yourself low hanging fruit. The govt won't put a shitload of resources to bust a smoker or small time user, but if the user avails themselves, the government will gladly put them behind bars.

Black markets have existed as long as governments have. They will last forever. I'm not saying the same markets will last forever, surely they'll go away either through seizure, scam, or in the rare event, a graceful exist after the owners have been enriched enough. Black markets will always adapt and exist in some form b/c there is money to be made. The only way drug markets disappear is if all the drug users in the world stopped using. You can't beat the forces of economics anymore than you can beat the laws of physics.

[8 Points] WhyDontJewStay:

Online drug marketplaces have three possible futures.

1) They simply fizzle out. People end up too scared to use them, and people become too scared to run them.

2) They cause the governments of the world to contemplate regulation and legalization. Basically, they put the final nails in the coffin of the ridiculous "War on Drugs."

Or

3) Governments like the USA, actually specifically the USA, crack down hard on Tor, i2p, VPN and marketplace users. They make encryption and proxy use illegal, and with the aid of broadband providers (Comcast, Century Link, Time Warner), Communications Providers (Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint, etc.) and major Tech companies (Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc) they come after all of us. Leaving no stone unturned, they make sweeping regulations, give Law Enforcement broad and generalized powers, and create an entire generation of Felons.

This option, I can almost guarantee, will lead to a revolt. It may even lead to World War 3. If you haven't realized it yet, you should know that World War 3, in all likelihood, is not going to be Country versus Country. It is going to be People Versus Government. Like the Arab Spring, the Western powers will topple. That or this shit will end up a dystopian world like most Sci-Fi novels theorize.

That's it. The future will lead to one, or some combination, of these scenarios. The United States will not allow things to continue the way they are now. You just know that there are powerful people in the Alphabet Agencies and Congress who are licking their lips at the potential unfettered power and hugely increased paycheck that Internet encryption regulations will bring.

Greed for money and power will be the downfall of the Modern World.

The day I'm not able to have access to anymore drugs is the day I leave this world and take who ever was standing in the way of my freedom with me.

I don't think it's that they don't care but we have kind of proven to be less of an immediate threat than other pressing issues. You have to admit even this sub alone does some amazing things for harm prevention. I have no doubt they have people working on cracking the proverbial DNM code.

Go to a music fest (a good one) everyone is blitzed out of their minds but proper medical, water/food, information/drug testing keeps it relatively safe- this let's it sit in an almost government blind spot or gray area. I know they're not the same exactly but I feel like we reside in the same area. Unless you're bulk ordering- then you take that risk all on your own.

My 2 pennies.

So, here's the thing: everyone that is very tech savy is like "omg, now we can get high quality drugs at any time we want, this is unlike anything ever seen before and nothing has ever been like this." One of those things is true.

For people that are street-savy (street-smart), they are looking at us going: "yeah, we've been able to do this, just not on quite as large of a scale, for 25 years now, what's the big fuckin deal, faggot?"

There is a famous dialogue that has been known for decades that goes:

DEA: "What if we lived in a world where almost every drug was available to almost anyone that seeked it out?"

Drug user: "you're living in it, pal".

Try as they might, the DEA has never been able to stop even 1% of the drug trade.

[2 Points] Nazirockstar:

I think they are trying to bust the dealers and site builders more then the consumer of personal quantities. There are bigger fish to fry in the darknet pond

[2 Points] TripAddict:

I honestly don't know why they try. If they crack tor, that will show a weakness and it will get patched. More work the government puts into somehow tracking bitcoin or cracking tor, more secure everything is because we fix and the weaknesses are exposed. there will always some way of getting drugs.

EDIT: shit grammer, was little high last night when i wrote this

Anyone could also drive over to a shitty part of town, find a suss dude standing on the street corner, make a sale and drive back home. Even easier just to give your stoner friend a $100 note and ask him to pick some up for you next time. Buying drugs has always been easy, now it's just even easier.

This has been going on for years and years man. I mean before SR we had Legal High....

The markets will last until we legalize drugs and turn it into a white market. Let's do it. Students For Sensible Drug Policy, www.ssdp.org Drug Policy Alliance, www.dpa.org

Unless they have the DEA, NTF, etc. to just portray that they supposedly "care", then yes, they do care.

The only reason these markets are still up and drugs are still getting through the mail by USPS (A government mail carrier) is either:

A: They are gathering information (aka, making a rock hard case against the criminals) that will make it easier for them to arrest and have the judge find the criminal guilty.

B: They just don't care.

[1 Points] TrapShenanigans:

This will indefinitely be around as long as the internet is around. With the internet, your possibilities are endless. If the government finds a way to put an end to it, this will be temporary. Then, someone one on the darknet side of things will find a way around what the government did to put it to an 'end'. That's my take on things. They want this to end, put the internet to an end. There will ALWAYS be a way.

[1 Points] trevorhoun:

Oh, they care. They just can't do anything about it. It would be like asking in 2003, "doesn't the music industry care that anyone can download any song they want for free?" YES, yes they did and still do care about that, they just can't stop it. Take one site down, two more spring up in its place, with the old vulnerabilities patched. Evolution, for example, is based in Russia, far outside of the US's jurisdiction and it doesn't look like Putin gives a flying fuck so I don't think it's going away anytime soon. (The Russian mafia is probably involved in Evo and the Russian government is in bed with the Russian mafia.)

[1 Points] jahrastafareye:

If the DEA got rid of every single drug , they would no longer have a job. They want drugs to circulate so they can make busts , collect money etc.

I am looking at doing this soon, could someone explain the process of how to convert cash to bitcoins, then actually order something from the deep web?
