It sounds like they caught a guy in Barcelona selling fake notes or scamming people, with a server to possibly mine bitcoin or maybe host a site and also credit card cloning devices and fake cards.

TL;DR Some guy selling fake bills on the darknet and cloning credit cards was arrested in the province of Barcelona because of the operation ONYMOUS.

The "Guardia Civil" arrests one of the targets of the ONYMOUS macro operation against the illicit markets in the Deep Web.

Two domiciliary searches have been conducted in Barcelona, where some computer equipment has been seized, one credit card cloner and two virtual crypto currency Bitcoin accounts.

In total, 17 people in 7 countries have been arrested (UK, USA, Spain, Hungary, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland) and 410 hidden services hosted in the TOR network where drugs, weapons, fake documents and even child pornography was offered, with the famous Silk Road 2.0 among them, have been taken down.

The "Deep web" is the hidden part of the Internet, that is, the one which is inaccessible using the search engines. It is generally used in all the world for licit objectives, because of the security it grants to communications, although some criminal groups have used that to benefit from the anonymity.

The operation is leaded by Europol in coordination with Eurojust and the New York prosecutor.

From now on I only summarize:

A person was arrested in the Barcelona area for hosting a site where he scammed users who wanted to buy counterfeit bank notes he listed.

In reality, those where fake bills that had to be paid with transfers of the Bitcoin virtual currency. (<- Yea, I also don't get that)

This is framed in the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskfortce (J-CAT), leaded by the Cybercrime Center of Europol.

The arrested man had a complex computer structure, among which we could find a server farm to generate Bitcoins (LOL), a credit card cloner and 30 blank cards ready to store the data of uses whose cards had been stolen.

According to them 150 000 people used Silk Road to buy illegal products.

They conclude saying that this demonstrates that with international cooperation, part of the criminal structure that organized crime uses on the internet can be dismantled, under which certain feeling of invulnerability had been generated because of the anonymity that is obtained from this hidden services inside the network.

The last paragraph contains a decent description about the TOR network and says it is used for legal purposes, although criminals also use it.

Personal opinion: as an undercover agent, I could arrest 17 drug dealers in ONE NIGHT in Barcelona. I would be happy with 1% of the budget of that operation...*

Spaniard here: It doesn't make any sense what that press release says:

2 search warrants for 2 different places, 1 person arrested firstly its says that he had cloning cards equipment, then it says that he was the admin of a onion that sold counterfeit bills and that it was a scam as people paid in bitcoins but nothing was sended.
