Mylar bags - How long smell proof?

Found out my PO-Box is closed until next week. Which sucks because I placed a domestic order yesterday and wasn't aware of this.

However, my slight concern is how long can Mylar bags last without giving any smell? Will four-five days be ok?

Looks like my t-break will be extended until the new year, not a bad thing I suppose :/

You're good. There's a reason good helium balloons are made of mylar and not rubber. The gases inside can't permeate the mylar barrier unless there's a hole (like the balloon's filling hole if you wondered why they deflate eventually).

Mylar bags are also used for long term storage from moisture in a lot of legitimate products.

For humans, mylar selaed packs will never emit enough smell for a person to notice. FOr dogs, perhaps over time. How much time? I would venture days to a week. The two foil layers are still put togther with plastic. the plastic is heat sealed. There isn't a container that can ever fully contain molecules from escaping (over time). Solidity is an illusion. Try this: vac seal some fish and have it sit in the heat for days. Soon even you will be able to smell the rotting fish through a vacuum sealed bag. Mylar is diifferent, the molecules are denser, but the weak point is the plastic liner that seals the two pieces of foil. Molecules will eventually escape, but not enough for a human to smell it, and I can only speculate how long it would take for a dog to be able to smell it. The only way to prevent smells from escaping them, is to absorb them as they escape. there are activated charcol lined bags that are said to be dog proff in that the charcol absorbs the smell as it leaves (activated charcol has some propert that it's molecules do something to attach themselves to the VOCs that escape. Indoor grow rooms use A.charcol filters to control the weed smell

there ultra thick and imbedded with foil. smelly proof bags, turkey bags and of course vac seal bag(laughing) don't even come close. and between me you and that telephone pole i've tested the bags with my dirty cop buddy(FL) and with proper sealing and CONTAMINATION REMOVAL on the outside officer K9 was unable to alert the handler to the prize when a search was conducted.

oh and BTW, i also tested with the bags efficiency thru TSA security at MCO airport twice in the last three months with non-permitted yet legal items just to see how they stood up to IR intrusion, worked on both occasions. but never! ever would i recommend transporting on persons at all!! ever like that. just wanted to see if it would work in theory.

The guy asked a yes or no question and got the DNM's top mylar scientists in this bitch lol.

To answer your question plainly: YES, 4-5 days is fine. Unless of course for some reason your local PO does routine K9 inspections, which for some reason I doubt.
