This Week on DarkNetMarkets!

This post is a mix of everything popular that has happened this week and today. If this turns out well I will begin to do this weekly, I am going to have all the top posts from this week and have a brief summary of them. I am going to have two sections for each post:

USPS corruption on Long Island, stealing marijuana filled darknet packages

"Pot dealers are shipping their product to New York via USPS Priority Mail so frequently that some corrupt postal workers are catching on and cashing in, authorities say. The feds nailed eight USPS staffers at a Long Island Priority Mail sorting plant this week for allegedly intercepting more than 260 packages that they suspected had marijuana in them, according to a criminal complaint."

comments

"How could they identify packages containing weed?"

The answer could be as simple as them "profiling the outside of it" or them using a "long gun looking thing with a 1 ft long needle on it, poking a hole in the package and smelling it. The needle is so small it isn't noticed."

Lack of New Markets

"With the last operations we lost several markets leaving us with EVO and agora as the main places to buy. If they were both to get seized tomorrow, where would we go?"

comments

"I wonder if it's because it looks too hard in the wake of Operation Onymous and past market failures, or if it just looks too hard to compete with Evolution & Agora ?" says /u/gwern His full comment here

Some say that Nucleus is on a slow rise.

Agora Deposits Are Coming In.

After nine days users are finally getting their deposits, users are reporting that the depoits all seemed to come in at the same time. It remains to be seen if the transaction issue has been fixed entirely, i.e. if deposits made in the immediate future are still delayed or not.

comments

Users seem to have mixed results, some deposits are coming in and others are still missing.

Helix

How to deanonymize Helix mixer transactions

It appears Helix is a "very weak method of mixing, even if it provides 0 taint to the original coins it is still easy to find the original coins." The OP shows an example of how to break a mixer that has these problems. After showing the example OP says "Grams should obviously not run a mixer, he is incompetent and is not following the best practices of bitcoin mixing, he is lying to his users saying it provides good anonymity." Yikes, it's not looking that good for Helix users.

Don't go and burn your house down just yet, grams has a response.

Helix "deanonymization": The Response

Grams explains what /u/BlockchainAnalyst "exposed" to everyone and addresses all the issues that was brought up. Basically, Helix is fine to use since Grams has made everything that /u/BlockchainAnalyst said meaningless now. Put down those pitchforks!

Modpost by LongLiveThe_King

Summary: A lengthy recap of the rules, a reminder to use the search bar for common questions, and to keep all ads, sourcing questions in the weekly threads posted Sunday and Wednesday. They are possibly thinking of adding a new mod that knows the legal system.(Which might be hard to find if you ask me) The most imporant questions /u/LongLiveThe_King asked in my opinion is:

If you have any suggestions for the mods make sure to visit that thread and let them know!

Private Sub for mods and users

Supposedly you have to " kiss the mods asses to get an invite"

comments

/u/durgsrbad a member of the hidden sub says it is actually "far less exciting than what you think"

WHAT? So you are telling me there is no private DNM parties with Bailey Jay showing up? /s

Apparently it is just experienced users who talk about whats going on with the markets, and drugs.

Most users in the comment section do not care at all. /u/destroyglasscastles Says "Tons of mods of other subreddits have IRC channels and the like where they bitch and dick around, it's not uncommon." and a lot of users agree with him.

It looks like /u/dnmprivate is just butthurt he didn't get an invite.

Hey man thanks for doing this :) I'm lazy and you did a great job, so feel free to keep on doing it until you get lazy and jaded like me

[5 Points] None:

Great post! I really like this idea and you did a terrific job. Please keep it up. When we were discussing what to add in the most recent mod post I mentioned I would love more general discussion and threads like this.

Thank you!!

[3 Points] AgoraMarket:

Nice summary, thanks for quoting me. heh. 😊

I'll probably get flamed for this, but as current deposits to Agora are working, can that line item be taken off the Active Market Warnings? Not deliberately shilling, but "DEPOSITS NOT WORKING" is misleading. They've been working for a week now; anyone can send a small test deposit and see for themselves. The guy who made the original post even deleted his account.

Yes, a few holdouts still remain, but support seems to be [slowly] fixing them one by one.

[3 Points] None:

This is great! Keep up the good work.

[3 Points] gramsadmin:

Awesome!

[1 Points] WaltonTheGreat:

Love it. Good job man.

[1 Points] commanderjeb42:

Thank you! These will be really nice in the future to help catch up on the busy weeks!

[1 Points] drpnit:

This is just so fantastic. Thank you, whoever is responsible.

[1 Points] Thameswater:

Decent Sunday morning reading tbh, especially as I'm a casual user who just gets weed for medicine so I don't check the sub everyday. But yeah if its not too much for you to do this I'd greatly appreciate it

[1 Points] DankNetMarket:

Great stuff! Hope it will becomes a regular thing

[1 Points] ownowfuck:

I know it's a little early for Tinfoil Hat Tuesday buuuutt....

Agora owns stake in Bitcoin Fog. Helix, quickly taking business from Bitcoin Fog, is working great and gained "#1 tumbler" status. Agora, scared that Bitcoin Fog will lose out, messes with their own wallet codebase to figure out how Helix works. This gives them a jump start and laymen's way of describing the Helix algorithm.

Agora wallet fixes were harder than anticipated, but they manage it, then post their findings after some of the smoke has cleared hoping to re-ignite Bitcoin Fog's earnings.

Ohhhh, I can't wait until vendors start buying a positive slant any "news story" related to them in these posts. Really exciting stuff!

[1 Points] Theeconomist1:

LOL, I like this a ton!

[1 Points] boofk:

I like it!

[1 Points] badassmthrfkr:

Good job! I missed or skipped a couple of those posts and the summary was great for me.

[1 Points] Two-One-Go:

Like this idea, but ps: evo went down.. if ya hadn't noticed ;)
