Customs seizure - advice needed

Had an order seized at customs. What I got was a letter from customs indicating they found narcotics and the package with everything in it but the drugs of course. Green tape all over it.

Was 1/2 lb of weed inside

What is likely to happen now? (USA is my country)

Please all advice is welcome...

Get rid of anything incriminating in your house, wipe your computer, lay low for at least a month until you are sure the police won't execute a search warrant on your house (they have all the probable cause they need now)

I thought when things got seized they just sent a letter? Why would they send an empty package?

Don't some vendors scam by putting a copied love letter in the package to make it look like it got seized?

clean house, consider the address burned... if u need to keep ordering look into PO boxes or find a drop address

What vendor did you order from?

Now, I've never been in this situation, nor am I a lawyer, but here's what I'd do in your situation:

  1. Get rid of anything linking you to your purchases virtually. Do research. I'd reinstall/ditch any operating system that you'd used to make the order. I'd make sure that Tor isn't installed on any computer that you're using. I wouldn't even log into the burner acct that you used to make this post again. If you have a TAILS USB, I'd incinerate or chuck that fucker in the trash on the other side of town or something. Again, I'm not an expert on online security, so do research. Look at your mobile devices too (texts, etc.)

  2. Clean house. Get rid of drugs, residue, paraphernalia, etc. I'd actually clean (mop, duster, broom, etc.) to be double sure.

  3. Clean your system out now. Being able to pass a drug test may help you out, though a half pack would indicate redistribution. It can't hurt though.

  4. Lawyer up. I'd find the best criminal defense attorney that you can afford. They're qualified to give advice way more than most people on this board would be.

There's probably more that you should do, but that's just what came to mind off hand.

If they delivered the package and the love letter, nothing is going to happen to you.

Your address is fine, they don't care unless you start getting a lot of seized letters.

Burn that vendor and maybe that country the package came from for a while.
