ALPHABAY WARNING - USE CAUTION DEPOSITING TO MARKET

I have no life so I am constantly refreshing the sub, and recently there have been a few reports of coins showing up in user's alphabay accounts. The cause of this has yet to be determined.

There have been other threads posted where some users are claiming to deposit coin and it not showing up in their account even after waiting for an extended period of time.

I've also seen a couple threads mentioning a message on their balance page displaying "no addresses available, please try again later." when trying to deposit coin. I believe this is all connected somehow. As of right now the best explanation I can give would be there is a shortage of bitcoin addresses and there are now addresses being assigned to multiple accounts. The solution to this would be to generate more addresses and add them into alphabay's database. This could also have to do with the newly implemented internal tumbling service that alphabay provides and added less than a month ago. If anyone else has any ideas, please post them.

Anyways, I have no conclusive evidence of anything. Just be careful out there everyone, especially with all these threads popping up recently.

First, this link doesn't count as proof:

https://pay.reddit.com/r/AlphaBay/comments/4kvt90/issue_with_btc_transfer_that_has_me_worried_about/

Because:

Looks like it was my fuck up. On the wallet page it says "You must deposit a minimum of 0.01 BTC or the coins will not be added" and I was trying to deposit 0.008. Still think it's weird how the money was sent to a different address.

OP didn't even know about the tumbler. So that's a spam topic and it can't be used as "proof".

Also, those people getting "free money" might be just AB shills. We don't know for sure... yet. They might not be, who knows. But yeah. It's weird. Good for the people getting free coins I guess...

Hits the meth pipe, It has to all be connected....but how?

I can confirm that I had over 18 btc randomly appear in my ab act yesterday. Spent it all immediately. About $8,400. I would not/will not be depositing any more money into ab. A: it isn't secure and B I just came up $8g's haha.

I am not a shill, but rather a long time trusted community member.

Free money: No evidence of that, as our hot wallet balance did not go down in an abnormal way. We can't confirm why it happens, but nothing seems abnormal on our side and our wallets' balance are as usual.

No address available: We always have a pool of "available" BTC addresses. Every 10 minutes, when the cron script runs, it checks the number of available addresses, and refills the pool accordingly, by generating new addresses. One of our devs turned off the "generation" function for a few hours to make some maintenance, which led to depletion of the pool. We simply generated new ones and refilled it as usual.

Deposits not showing: If you did not get phished, open a support ticket. Note that if a transaction requires a fee but you don't, it will get ignored by our node. It will then require manual adjustment via a support ticket.

Where's the good old "FUD" flair when we need it?

cool story warning. this reminds me of glitch in sr1 when you'd get multiple withdrawals instead of 1. i for instance got almost 50 additional bitcoins due to it, messaged dpr to get him to know about the bug and to return the coins but he responded i can keep them. but bitcoin was worth around $8 back then so it didn't even meet the price for a full sheet

if I had a dime for everyone of these posts or even the ones I made myself...

Sounds like the tumbling system is fucked

Hello all,

I am a TOR researcher who has just received 75 BTC from AlphaBay for free. Yesterday morning I created a new account on the site in order to generate a new API key. Today I logged back in to see a whopping 74.95 BTC sitting there. I withdrew it immediately and have since had it receive 6 confirmations.

To be clear, I was not responsible for the bug occurring. I was simply generating an API key as I was in the process of upgrading my AB scraper. All my research is completely legal, some of it published. I won't be revealing my identity though.

Very strange situation.

Huh, I was wondering why I suddenly had a shitload of BTC. Oh well spent that shit immediately.

Either way, I'm not calling anything crazy internal tumblers are hard to program and a database bug could easily be the cause of this. I've had money not show and support was very helpful in tracking down where it went missing and made everything right within a couple hours.

The users are robbing the site everyone thinks will rob the users sooner or later.

I think it's reverse karma.

I got about $400 randomly. spent a bit over a hundred, and tried to the withdraw the rest, but then my wallet went to 0 and said I didn't have enough funds after I clicked withdraw. Hope the order I made goes through though. It does say funds are in escrow.
