I don't know what qualifies "betraying Alphabay" but it seems it can be as simple as going to the reddit community with an issue you have.

Alphabay bans users for "betraying Alphabay" by talking about an issue they have on reddit

Just spent twenty minuets deleting posts recommending alphabay just in case someone reads a old post and uses there site.
[15 Points] noonehear:
So how do I delete my alphabay account?
We need to as a community regulate the markets. Not using certain ones is a great way to do that.
[14 Points] None:
Get your coins out right now, at best these guys are idiots and at worst (and most likely) they're going to vanish with everyone's money when the backlash gets to be too much.
[11 Points] None:
No this is a issue on terrible customer service and a reddit community member being blatantly made an example of with Internet censorship of our group. The only logical response is to punish the alphabay market and pull your account.
[8 Points] None:
This issue is far from being resolved.
[4 Points] None:
Very unprofessional even if his wrong blatant Internet censorship I'm pulling my account.
[6 Points] TheCheeseConspiracy:
Why is this on the front page of /r/dnm? This is such a tiny issue being blown out of proportion.
To sum up: User deposits into old address, despite large warning. Other users gets said coins and spends them. Alphabay recovers almost all of the coin by getting the vendors to cancel the orders. Alphabay asks user to delete post on reddit in exchange for recovering money. People go nuts.
The way I see it, they were under no obligation to recover this money at all. There is a big red warning that their deposit addresses are not permanent. If I send coins to the wrong address, is the market responsible?

Imagine how choked buddy was when he realized he wasn't getting his free drugs?
[0 Points] alphabaysupport:
This is true. We banned him. To sum up, on the balance page, we have a BIG BOLD RED paragraph that says to not deposit to an address after 7 days, otherwise the coins get lost. He deposited after 10 days, and them made a public post accusing us to be thieving motherfuckers, and telling everyone to not use our market. We did indeed offer him what was left, but instead of taking our offer, he went public for something that is entirely his fault. We stick to our decision, unless he comes to us with a satisfactory offer.

i was the o.p from https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/3ln5z7/alphabay_thieving_mofos/cv7pf9r
Alphabay gave me word they would return most of my coins if i remove other post and i gave word of mine to do so. They have returned to me 2.9 most of it so very good outcome and i thank them for that.

This issue is not resolved. Like a bully under scrutiny you caved. WE DO NOT FORGIVE... WE DO NOT FORGET!!!
[2 Points] None:
the first rule of alphabay is don't fuck with alphabay!
[2 Points] Hank_Vendor:
well. .. you're banned
[2 Points] JustOutOfTheDarkness:
This will sort itself out on its own as users post about it and leave for other markets.
[2 Points] None:
I saw an alpha bay reddit guy basically call a guy an idiot in a thread and was really rude. It was uncalled for. I said it was terrible pr but didn't quote him. He edited his post.

They are hiding under a wave of "phishing" to steal money from the poorest of the poor...Boycott AB, Until they change the situation and stop robbing us.

first off, when will folks learn that the DNMs are not like Ebay.. They run beyond the purview of the BBB, lol... They aren't there to cater to every single user that doesn't know how to follow simple instructions.. they're there to make a buck... never get comfortable with any of the markets... trust isn't a thing that exists down there and you'd be foolish to think otherwise.. OP should learn from his mistake and move on..
Aside from that, if AlphaBay is that bad then just stop using the market.. by doing so you'll hurt their revenue stream and eventually vendors will just up and leave to go to other markets... easy peasy..
Finally... well.. s**t... i wish 3BTC magically showed up in my wallet, lol...
[0 Points] tailsjoin:
I say ban em all. You're all a bunch of idiots anyway.
[1 Points] notrecane:
This is not going to be a popular opinion, but... If you really cared that much about the 3BTC, you would have double and triple checked your deposit address. I do that with 0.1BTC! So for you not to check with that much is careless. Sorry for your loss though, it sucks but it's your mistake.
I think a lot of the hate on Alphabay is because most people get their panties in a bunch about fraudsters and carders. That's fair enough, but at least say it and don't go around misdirecting your hate into other issues. It's actually a very functional market if you follow simple directions and the support staff are very responsive.

This isn't fucking amazon. You don't like it, go to another market or better yet find yourself a dealer and see how they handle your "feedback" lol.

/u/Theeconomist1 at what point do we start to consider adding a warning for something like "unprofessional" in the sidebar....some of this stuff is getting ridiculous - and i don't think we should tolerate it as a community, let alone promote/support it if they are going to treat the community this way..
