blahblahblah upvote for visibility
As this subreddit grows we need to control the types of posts submitted here. reddit isn't your typical forum-based community, there are no subforums where content can be filed away in their respective category. Flairing posts only gets us so far and is an imperfect solution. Every post, given a enough upvotes, is displayed on the front page. This creates multiple problems of actual information being drowned out by shitposts and trolls. So the following additions to the rules will be happening shortly.
No soapboxing
This subreddit is not a platform for anyone to blackmail or extort a market or vendor. Take that to the market subreddit, the market forums, or directly to the party involved. Any submissions or comments regarding blackmailing or extorting a market or vendor will be removed without warning and the user banned permanently. Not much else to say here, we should not be the ones handling this.
Possible issues
We want the community to be aware of all possible issues so they can make personal decisions based on that. However, it's far too common for a user to submit a thread regarding a possible issue with the sole purpose of damaging a market or vendor reputation. This is not fair to them, as with the growing popularity of this subreddit many users will see this and make a possible decision when there was really no concern. However we realize that situations aren't always black and white, proof may not always be able to be posted. Going forward all submissions without a hint of legitimate evidence will be flaired as "FUD", submissions that have a shred of evidence will be flaired as "Speculation", and submissions with verifiable proof will be flaired as "Scam warning". These flairs may change as a situation evolves.
While we always try to use our best judgement regarding these situations, please realize that we are human and we're not always right. You should also be using your own judgement regarding these threads and not rely on others to think for you.
Toxic Trolling
We're constantly getting new users, growing more and more every single day. Going forward any toxic troll posts that make the front page will be removed without warning, and the user banned permanently. We will also (maybe) have a system in the nearish future where any account under a certain age and with a certain amount of negative comment karma will be barred from posting. This also applies to the unwarranted moderator hate. If you have a serious issue with a moderator, PM another one. If it can't be solved that way then create a thread, or even PM a non-moderator you trust that has a presence on this subreddit. Accusing the current moderators of being shills and scammers is all too popular now, it creates even more stress than we already deal with, and more often than not they're baseless accusations with the singular purpose of creating drama.
These new changes aren't set in stone, and will change as we see fit. Suggestions to improve these rules and current rules are always welcome as well.
Another thing that I haven't brought up with the current moderator team is transparency. We want to remain accountable for our actions, and I believe we should be doing everything possible to remain so. There are ways to make moderator actions like thread removal, user bans, and comment removal public for the community to see and possibly even comment on. I think this will be nothing but a benefit to the community, and I will be looking into it in the coming weeks.
Edit: Changed trolling to toxic trolling.
As this is posted the top post is a troll. Its a good one. I would hate things like this and Democratic People's Republic of Korea Dark Market to go away. It is a great way to reduce stress.
