Important: Market News Guidelines

Market News Guidelines

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/wiki/market-announcements

We've formalized a set of rules as it pertains to market news. The rules for announcing a new market still stand. These rules apply to markets that have already made a formal announcement and wish to communicate new features. Market admins/mods/PR - please review these rules before making a post regarding your market. These guidelines should make it clear what is permissible and what isn't. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to message us.

TL;DR - If you are affiliated with a market, read the whole fucking thing! In a nutsack, message the mods with your news BEFORE posting on the sub. You are limited to the # of announcements you can make per month. Please don't violate the rules - we need to make it fair for ALL markets.

These are the rules and guidelines we've formalized for markets and market public relations. If you are a market or affiliated with a market, please review these guidelines. Any market news announcement must be cleared in advance with this sub's moderators.

What is considered market news?

What is NOT market news

Remember, "Market News" is not the platform to advertise your market. Its intended as a way for you to convey improvement new features and improvements to your customers. Overt advertising and marketing has no place in "Market News" (because, yes we realize all publicity, even the announcement of a new feature, could be thought of as marketing. Just no overt marketing/advertising). Abuse of "Market News" can result in the inability to make further announcements. Please check with the mods if you have any questions.

I'm not sure I like my mod news delivered in a 'nutsack'.

I take it that things like explaining downtime or things of a technical nature don't have a limit?

You suggest "collating all news into a single post," and while you say that market posts are not to be used overtly as advertisement, the more posts a person or team makes, the more exposure their market gets. I'd imagine that /r/DNM is a pretty important channel for new markets, so I see this going one of two ways.

A good market with all of its ducks in a row and features implemented makes a single post announcing this. The market really has it all except for some very minor possible improvements. That market therefore gets one post, very little exposure, and low traffic.

On the other hand, a shitty market with no features gets to implement something small and necessary every two weeks and then post about it on /r/DNM. They receive way more exposure. Not nearly as good of a market, but their posts have been seen by many more eyes.

In this scenario, market one is obviously the better choice, but market two is going to get the business. Now market one can still upgrade by listening to suggestion, but due solely to the low exposure they've received, there will probably not be many suggestions. This great market has now fallen into the negative loop of: nothing new, so can't post; no new clients, so no suggestions; no suggestions, so no changes. And this is all reliant on the premise that the market admins and developers have put very much work and effort into the opening of the market and implemented every feature that they could think of.

Thoughts?

(I'm not seriously looking for a response Econ, I just love the glorious shilly awfulness of that post.)

Is it possible to have a "moderator review" post monthly? So we can shit on the mods in a centralized post with rules ?

Seriously, nice job and thank your for you dedication. Short post, with a lot of ideas.

Merry Christmas
