Ratings are utterly useless. Why?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to mention this, but vendor ratings are utterly useless. Even when people get fucked over, they leave 5 star ratings. I'm probably just frustrated because I just got screwed over (svnslick on Dream). Had I read the rating details, I would have never dealt with this guy...but it was 5 star after 5 star ratings. Why do people do this? There are plenty of vendors, so it's not like we need to kiss their asses. It makes the system totally useless.

Thoughts?

Maybe people are scared to leave honest reviews because the vendor has their address. Idk, that's my first guess

Buyers get bribed into putting 5 stars for a reship or refund. But on the other hand maybe the buyer is ripping off the seller for a reship as an extra so they'll happily give 5 stars to something free. Don't trust anyone on the markets unless you've used them before, simple.

[9 Points] EternalTurmoil:

You're not looking at the reviews right. Start by looking for reviews on reddit. If you see a lot of reviews from long term legitimate users, that's a good sign.

Then, look at the amounts being spent in reviews on markets. Only large orders are credible since vendors can make small purchases on throwaway accounts to pad their feedback. Making false large orders means they're paying much larger fees so those reviews are much more likely to be credible.

I don’t find them useless you just gotta read through them thoroughly. If any of them say did not receive item more than twice or any other 1 star ratings stay away. It’s that simple. Move onto another vendor. They say if it’s too good to be true it probably is.

In complete honesty it's hard to get a 5 from me you're communication shipping time and quality all have to be there I've been completely satisfied with products but still had to give a 3-4 for no communication or lack of. Shipping time etc

Yeah its frustrating af

Great question...very frustrating.

I have no solution at this time.

[2 Points] TexasCubensisKing:

When I’m looking at review I look for the ones where people have spent at least 100$ anything under and it COULD be a false feedback guy. You’ll notice real people who buy from notice typically leave a sentence or two on the actual product where as the scams will just be “leave your comments here”

They are not useless whatsoever if you know what to look for, the website reviews are good but then you can come on over to Reddit and search for reviews and you’ll know there’s no scam in play

[2 Points] Vendy_McVendface:

Not true.

Ratings will alert potential buyers to an on-going exit scam, if nothing else.

REVIEWS will give potential buyers an idea of the actual quality of product and service.

The savvy buyer will pay attention to both.

Great question, and conversation. I agree the star rating is pretty useless, but as peeps have said, and it's a fucker but, paying attention to the amounts being spent and the actual comments will enable you start to get an idea of the legitimacy of the vendor. I wouldn't want to spend a lot with any vendor I hadn't used before, and will always do research before a purchase, and also not wait till I'm clucking to order. Have heard of vendors encouraging other vendors to reject sales from buyers who leave poor comments, stories like that may explain a proportion of it, possibly. But the fact that you got to be pretty naive\dumb to even touch a vendor with anything below a 9.4 means that the star system is not fit for purpose. What could\would you replace it with to give a more accurate reflection of the vendor though?! It's a tough one.

[2 Points] FrankNSam:

I guess at the end of the day, my question is simply this: why do people so frequently give 5 star ratings after they’ve clearly been screwed or suffered through a zero or one star ordeal? Again, my problem isn’t with the reviews, it is with the ratings. Unless people give realistic judgments in the form of ratings, they are useless, and all of the information gleaned from the ratings are useless. So, filtering vendors by average rating is pointless.

[1 Points] GirlsDontLikeIce:

You are exagerating.

They are very usefull.

People please be detailed in your comment and leave a honest rating. You can use the comment and rating to convince the vendor into giving you a refund also. But if you get a refund you gotta leave us some hint it was a refund. You dig?

In my experience tho people really aren't leaving fake ratings. I've never been scammed and i've gotten REFUNDS and scammers wouldn't be giving refunds. They just ignore. But, i've had some people dissappear for a week then show up and start talking. So it's important to be very polite because you know people have a separate life.

I've bought off people who have been called scammers here many times over 3 - 4 years. Never once had a problem. I'm doing drugs right now that the vendor gave me a refund for because they just didn't show up until a month later! Scammers don't do that.
