Coinbase and Electrum fees - WTF!!??

Hi,

I've been on holiday for the past month and today, attempted to make a purchase.

Long story short, I'm being fleeced big time!!

  1. I transferred £25 from Coinbase to my Electrum wallet and the charge for that was £11.95. That's damn near half!!!!

  2. From Electrum to DNM, I was charged £7.69

So in total, I was charged £19.64 which means that end-to-end, only £5.36 (21.44%) made it across.

Seriously??? This is depressing. No way were my charges nearly this high a month ago. Reckon I was only charged around 8% end-to-end.

So what have I missed? This sucks :(

Cheers.

So what have I missed?

An increase in fees. ;)

Extremely depressing. FUCK BTC.. I planned on buying some pills for $200, so I bought $250 of bitcoin last week. By the time it hit the market wallet it was $198 and I couldn't buy said pills. In my opinion BTC is done. That bubble needs to burst asap

Don’t do that. Save yourself some money, set up a GDAX account. It links to coinbase. Free to move btc from coinbase to gdax and gdax covers all fees to send elsewhere up to like $10k per month.

use litecoin on growers op. cost like 45 cents in fees

Don't feel so bad Mycellium isn't any better, I paid almost 20% on a DD from mining fees. I truly hate Bitcoin

You must be a noob. Bitcoin transaction fees have been this way for a couple of months. The BTC blockchain can't handle the current volume which pushes the fees high as people want their transactions confirmed faster. In it's current state BTC can only handle ~ 7 transactions a second.

As others have suggested look into using another currency.
