Hey guys,
I'm looking to encrypt my harddrive and I've run into a bit of a problem. It seems that VeraCrypt is preferred by many on here, however I have a Windows 8 system with a GUID Partition Table and VeraCrypt is only compatible with MBR partitions.
So then, I have to either convert my GPT into MBR (I have no clue on how to do this yet and I'd rather not go through the process of backing everything up) or find software that works with GPTs.
Most of the ones I've found so far aren't free. The old TrueCrypt software is something I'm debating on using...some say it's audited but some claim otherwise.
Any suggestions for what software I should use to encrypt a whole GPT drive?
VeraCrypt is based off of the TrueCrypt source code which also could not do GPT partitioned drives.
I don't think that there is any free and open software that can do that yet.
One option is BitLocker. If you have Pro or better of Windows 8 or 10, it comes free with the distribution.

They also have something called "device encryption" which I would recommend against:
