Happens to me as well. Very motivated and awake, but opiated at the same time. Pretty common.

As /u/blabberdoodle said, opioids work differently for different people. I can't sleep on Oxy or norco. I need a sleep aid. Some people get nods and fall asleep. Some like you apparently, get energy. I do as well. This is how you process it

Happens to me all the time. I'm enjoying the buzz so much I can't sleep. Watch your APAP dosage, tho, seriously.

This is extremely common. I used to use norcos to stay awak at work. Opiates act as stimulant in roughly 50% of the population. Not everyone gets all drowsy and sleepy on them. I used to lay in bed awake on hydrocodone. When i would fall asleep, I would have old hag syndrome shit (ya know, feeling like someone is sitting on our chest, your half alert half asleep, and unable to move no matter how hard you try, usually accompanied by a feeling of some evil presense being in the room with you) or crazy nightmares.

Yeah dude that stuff is like meth

It's not unheard of for people to have paradoxical reactions to some drugs. Simple answer in two words is individual reactions.

Different for different people. Paging /u/Theeconomist1

Oxycodone for example makes me have a ton of energy, while Hydrocodone (Vicodin) makes me more sleepy. Both have the same euphoria otherwise, just different ways of experiencing it I suppose.

If you're going to be taking opiates with APAP/tylenol in them, look into buying the supplement NAC. N-Acetylcistene.

I could never sleep on opiates. I would go days being awake on any kind of opiate binge. I tried everything, cold medicine, xanax, ambien, and nothing worked.

Haha yeah you gotta watch out for that cuz iv had times where I have not gotten sleep than finally knocked out at like 5 AM only to wake up at 3 PM with 30 missed calls.

[1 Points] dandydaniels:

opiates will keep you up the first couple times til your body gets used to (read: addicted) to it. Then youll be nodding out and falling asleep everywhere you can put your head. or not.

Opiates wake me up. Like I take them and stay up as if you gave me a bunch of Adderall. I also can take Adderall and drink 10 cups of coffee and be so tired I sleep for 2 days. My doctor calls it something but I forget the name. There are some people who get opposite effects from medications that are supposed to make you sleep vs wake you up.
