Small package in UPS private box required signature, does anyone else have experience with this?

Hey all, noobie here. I just got my first darknet package delivered to a UPS private box. The envelope could have easily fit in my mailbox but I was made to sign for it. The package is USPS first-class with tracking. Is this normal procedure or do I have anything to be concerned about? Is there anything else on the postage that would indicate that a signature would be required?

At my UPS store it's policy that anything with tracking, no matter how small, has to be signed for. The reasoning: to sell larger mailboxes. The size of the box you rent determines how many packages they process for you per month before you have to pay.

I was going to get a small at my UPS store, but the counter guy said I could get up to 5 packages for free, then they are $5 a piece. The medium boxes get you 10 free packages. Didn't find out till later that anything with a tracking number counts as a package and they print out their own labels for your private box, and then send you email/text notifications.

My workaround was to be friendly and joke around with the counter staff and they let shit slide all the time, like only processing one USPS piece when I actually had two that came at the same time.
