Asking a vendor what time zone they ship from?

Hey All, Placed an order recently with a vendor on Agora. I always like to get an idea of the turnaround time on shipments so that I know when I need to monitor my mailbox. I normally ask vendors what time zone they ship from so I can get an idea of how long USPS will take to deliver my order. However, the vendor for this particular order replied to me and said "you should not ask vendors what time zone the order is shipped from." I obviously upset this vendor by asking. So is there some sort of security issue I am overlooking when I ask vendors this question? To me, this information is quite nebulous and would in no way give point LE in the direction of the vendor's location. Correct me if I am wrong, please.

There are TONS of people in every timezone, let alone TONS of provinces/states/territories. I don't think it is giving much away if a timezone is given.

However, if a vendor does not wish to disclose that info then I would respect that. After all, they do take on a lot of risk providing the services that they do and they must take top security measures to not get busted.

This does seem like a bit overly paranoid considering the return address will give a much more specific location than a time zone would.

I personally have always wanted to ask, yet out of courtesy to the vendor never have or will.

Yes...I know time zones are vast areas. However, the vendor on the other side of the computer would be safest if no info revealing time zones and logistics were provided to said seller.

You may just be an innocent buyer, but the vendor doesn't know this for sure.

iirc, packages that are shipped out with a different state in the return address will get flagged - that would narrow it down more than a time zone. But you can never be too careful.

Thanks for the replies and also for confirming my thoughts. However, I do respect all legitimate vendors and would never mean to offend them. I suppose you can never be too careful on DNMs.
