ZeroNet: Decentralized websites using Bitcoin crypto and the BitTorrent network

As we look to the future of a decentralized marketplace, I would like to show off Zeronet.

Site: zeronet.io

Open, free and uncensorable websites, using Bitcoin cryptography and BitTorrent network

In addition, you can use Tor to hide your IP.

Thoughts?

[2 Points] cheapcab:

Describe how it works and how it would benefit vendors and users.

It'd also be nice to include any downside you see from using it.

Why would the dnm scene be better off with this instead of some other service? How is opsec handled with it?

Anonymity has to be guaranteed or it's worthless.

[1 Points] _PrinterPam_:

In the security/cryptography world, new = unknown. Unknown = bad. Zeronet is too new.

Being able to use it with Tor sounds promising. But, lots of other things sound good but are not. Using VPNs with Tor (can interfere with Tor's node selection math, funnel all of your traffic to the same 'point' on the Internet, can fail-deadly, etc.) are not a good idea. Tor-over-Tor (even the Tor devs won't weigh-in on this, meaning they have serious reservations about potentially-disasterous outcomes).

I don't say any of this to discourage new technologies, or improvement of existing ones, but it's just too soon to put any 'skin in the game' on this. It's most promising feature is the ability to circumvent censorship. But when it comes to currently-illegal activity (say, DNM-type stuff), censorship isn't exactly the greatest concern.

And apart from fleshing-out the post a little, as someone else is suggesting, thanks for bringing it up!

Can you anonymously set up a vendor shop?
