[CommunityDiscussion] The European Union, as a block, should be an option when filtering products that ship from, or ship to, a certain region.

I say this assuming that shipments within EU countries are really low risk. I have never had a problem and ordered multiple times, so I think I'm right. If I'm not, then what I'm about to say is also wrong.

So, assuming that is true, the possibility of filtering by countries inside the EU is useless. It doesn't matter if the product is in Germany, France, UK or Italy, but it changes a lot if the same product comes from Australia or the USA, since it will go through customs in that case.

Also, if a vendor sends to Germany, he will send to Portugal, Spain or Italy 99% of the time, since distinction within EU members is rarely made. So a general "Sends to EU" filter would be easier than classifying individually by country, and at the same time would be narrower than a general search.

ATM only Nucleus offers this possibility, and I'd like to see it implemented in other markets. So this is a humble request for admins to introduce this option to their markets.

PS: I know a lot of vendors exclude Scandinavian countries. Finland, Sweden and Denmark belong to EU, so this rule wouldn't make much of a difference for them, don't know a better way to help it though.

At East India Company (EIC), we have both European Union and Schengen Area as options.

We cater to the European region specifically, which allows us to avoid US policing agencies. We also disallow weapons, fraud related items, digital goods and poisons. For a full list you can see our original announcement ( https://www.reddit.com/r/onions/comments/3452vz/new_european_only_market_east_india_company_has/ )

We are still growing but we hope you at least create an account and try out our platform and send us any feedback you have.

On what market is Europe not an option?

I usually order from within the EU. Product comes faster, usually cheaper and higher quality that the UK. I know the risk is slightly more than domestic but it's far better than ordering from somewhere like the USA or Canada. I ordered some of the best weed from there but it doesn't seem worth the wait time usually if I can get something similar from a closer EU country.

Great idea.

OP is correct, items that don't leave the European Union do not go through customs. We need a ships from EU option, and the first market to implement this will effectively have an entire continent signing up.

Do all EU countries have the same security/customs (I know there is no international customs between EU members, but whatever you want to call people checking packages) within the EU? Is the Netherlands for instance more dangerous than the UK or is the big difference in security only when people outside of the EU order?

Just wondering out of curiosity, I am not European.

Grams has an advanced search option for EU, surprised nobody mentioned it yet.

For some reason BlackBank listings don't seem to show up in the results, weird.

Agreed.

Many other filters would also be fantastic if implemented. Such as filter by weight, price filters, filters showing price + Shipping.

Sadly as far as the UK goes you are wrong - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-143-a-guide-for-international-post-users/notice-143-a-guide-for-international-post-users#postal-packages-received-from-other-eu-countries

UK customs does selectively check post arriving from the EU.
