We are currently considering building and releasing a linux based distro based on Debian or Suse - of course everything will be open source.
Out of the box the OS will have ANY application you run tunnel all its traffic over tor (transparent proxy, including DNS) - hence all updates can also be done over tor from a hidden service repo, and there is less space for stupid mistakes like logging into reddit from the wrong browser etc...
Full disk encryption if you do not want to run it as a live os, or just a fully encrypted partition if running as a liveOS (from usb).
A decoy partition which loads a normal OS in case of a wrong password.
Secure memory wiping on shutdown.
A "kill" hotkey combination.
Additional out of the box features would be a nice and easy PGP/GPG GUI
A customized and easy GUI tool based on python for Multisig Signing, Reviewing / Verifying etc...
Secure delete (wiping) by default
A copy of veracrypt just in case you want it
A copy of our in house 'suspicious tor route monitor'
A copy of multibit or some other wallet
And a few other things...
What do you think, are we wasting our time and money? or perhaps there is something you would like to add?
We are open to your opinions. Criticism too :)
I don't trust any prepackaged operating system.
I like to do things myself. That way, I at least know what's doing what, how it works, and what I need to do when something doesn't work.
I built Linux from scratch. It was hard, confusing, frustrating, but very rewarding in the end. I can say I compiled everything myself. With someone elses compiler, but still.
