Friend caught using counterfeit money at school. What can she do about it?

I don't know whether or not she used the dark net but she was stupid enough to use one $20 bill at school and told the police that she can't remember where she got it. The police said they sent the bill to the secret service and, being at the school, they have all her information. No other bills were found but the police mentioned using DNA analysis (check if only all known people have touched the bill). Will she be investigated by SS agents at her door. What's a good defense for her, if you've had a similar experience?

But she got that back in change when she used a bill to pay for gas, right? (remember most facilities have cameras)

RIGHT??

If she's got no valid other excuse and can't successfully spin it otherwise, she'll need to shut & lawyer up ASAP like M9 said.

nothing is going to come from it unless she admitted knowing it was a counterfeit, people get handed counterfeits unknowingly.

yes it goes to SS, they're serious about that shit. but no ones coming to her door for 1 bill.

tell her to not worry and get back to being a slut

Lol they are going for DNA evidence ....? On a fucking bill?...wow. Easy answer, "I must have gotten it as change back from somewhere during the last week or so officer...sorry I don't keep track and inspect all my fucking bills"

she can't remember where she got it, sounds like it should work. my mechanic once had a business card that looked like folded hundred dollar bill on one side and biz info on the other side. he didn't think much of it because it wasn't the size of money and clearly a biz card. well the secret service didn't think so and eventually paid him a visit after he handed out enough cards. so they may show up at her door someday, but i doubt it. seems to me if she was going to be in trouble she would all ready be in trouble. if the bill was passed by a known person, fingerprinting may only be done if requested by the prosecutor. a poor quality bill (one that typically wouldn't pass muster with the average person) may not even be worth the time of the secret service to even pursue. high quality bills in good condition are the types of bills that would get a thorough investigation. doesn't sound like there is a prosecutor yet, and the bill obviously was very low quality because she got caught so its probably not even worth the secret services time to investigate. without a pending case for a prosecution to order finger printing seems like its a done deal. i could be wrong.

Assuming she doesn't have a metric fuck ton of other bills and other illegal stuff the cop is just trying to scare her. Every counterfeit bill is technically supposed to be turned over to the cops and then the Secret Service. They may ask her where she got it and her best defense is to get a lawyer. If not, she just found it or got it as change somewhere. I've been caught using counterfeit bills a number of times before and nothing has ever come from it. If you don't have any other bills nobody is going to fuck with you, it's not an absurdly uncommon occurrence per se.
