I'm guessing yeah, on the off chance it'd be great if I'm wrong.
Will a dog trained to smell methamphetamine detect DOM as it is a methamphetamine?

It's an amphetamine, (alpha-methylated phenethylamine), and technically a methylamphetamine, but METH is N-methyl amphetamine, whereas DOM is para-methyl amphetamine (methylated at the enirely opposite end of the chemical), also with another 2 (methoxy) functional groups attached to the "aromatic" ring that will change it's aroma-like properties (though these terms aren't necessarily linked).
So ... NO.

Drug dogs are terribly inaccurate at finding drugs, excluding marijuana (which they still suck at). Unless you're carrying bulk, you shouldn't have any issues.

This has prompted me to wonder how difficult it would be to train my dog to sniff out meth, for educational purposes & also to assist the neighbourhood watch program in my area.
He is a German Sheppard, 10 years old and his name is Jordan. He is a good boy normally apart from if I take too long and he feels I have not paid attention, he will destroy something that holds great significance to me such as sunglasses or the remote control for the AC during summer.
Is it possible that the dog could sniff its presence from say the distance between the foot path and where it is located?
Is there minimum quantity before he is likely to get a whif with his sniffer?
Is there something other than meth that I could reward him with, I am not a fan of giving animals drugs, first they are expensive & second it is a form of cruelty which is just wrong. I need to ensure I am the one that makes this sacrifice each and every time.

DOM is an amphetamine but not a methamphetamine. The 4 position on the phenyl ring has a methyl group

THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS SUB, I'll be sitting around wondering something and not even an hour later some other person god knows where asks the question for me! maybe someone has a clear answer, but it seems possible since methyl amphetamine is part of its structure. but the dogs don't necessarily sniff out the chemical structure.....

No.
Only methamphetamine smells like methamphetamine. Does a pine and maple tree appear identical in all their characteristics to you? No. Because you're a human and that distinction is easily made visually. Dogs can do the same thing with their noses.
They can smell the DOM, but to them, it doesn't smell like methamphetamine, the substance they were trained to detect.
Oh yeah you've come to the right place for this one. The answer to this all too common anomily is
