Can you buy from Alpha Bay without a PGP key in place?

I'm new to this shit, bear with me. I've taken pretty much every other imaginable security precaution except for this.

I can't see the use of getting a PGP key if I don't have any intentions to send messages to anybody. I've got a few products that I want to buy, they're all from long-time vendors with zero negative reviews. I would just like to order said products and move along.

Thanks y'all.

This is the absolute strongest point in your OPSEC! Don't become low hanging fruit. Learn PGP dude.

PGP is absolutely crucial unlesss you want your full name and shipping info just chillin out in the open basically on the market servers.

Yes....But you do need to encrypt all of your shipping info in the vendors key & send the vendor your public key :-)

Some vendors won't even fuck with you if you don't encrypt, so you might as well learn it.

I spent all of last night learning how to use PGP softwares effectively (with all of your help). I'd say I'm pretty well versed in it now. Can't thank you all enough for your respectful & helpful responses.

I'll try to learn the rest on my own through lots of research, but if I'm really stuck on something, I know where to go! :-)

If your not paranoid about the tv listening to the diffent sounds that each key makes and decoding what your typing and then sending daily transcripts to the pentagon, White House, and of course CHHIIIInAAAAAAA! Damn china stealing our jobs and our governments "people of possible/probable relocation and/or reeducation treatment that is mandatory and if/when subject questions our policies the process of mandatory extermination of the subject will take place" files! I mean that folder name is now being translated into chinese so they can prevent an threat of a tyrannical holocaust gap! lskdjf

There was once a security hole in AlphaBay that allowed pretty much anyone to abuse it's API system to output any private message sent through the website. Not sure if it was ever adapted to see order information as well. However, any user not making use of PGP instantly had their messaging history available to the public, and a lot of messages probably contained shipping addresses and conversations that would directly implicate them in suggesting they were intending to send drugs to their home.

Tl;dr If you'd like to be 100% protected against anyone being able to read any communications or order information belonging to you, even if intercepted, use PGP. It's arguably the #1 OPSEC tool you could have. It's even easier than learning the basics to a Linux terminal.

It's wonderful how everyone chimed in to help right away. PGP and obtaining bitcoin + tumbling was the most technical and difficult thing to learn for me at first but it's really simple once you put some time into it. If you got this far, you'll get it man. Can't brush this off. I encrypt all my messages on markets. Even if it's just to thank a vendor. Follow the guides and just play around with the program. Practice encrypting and decrypting messages to yourself before making them live. I'm assuming everyone here has learned it. You will too!

you shouldnt use AB's built in encryption tool but you dont need to go through the effort of downloading software and generating PGP keys either. . just use this link - https://www.igolder.com/pgp/encryption/

You just type your address in one box, type the vendors PGP key in the other and click encrypt.. easy peasy!

You dont have to learn it. . google igolder pgp. . problem solved
