Is encrypting your phone good enough?

So like a dumb ass I made the decision to use the tor app to order stuff to my PO Box using my android. The problem is my brother claims Home Land Security came over to my house asking where I was and told him they intercepted 52 grams of weed on its way to my PO Box. I know I'm a dumb ass for doing this ,but can police go through my phone if it's encrypted with a pass code on lock screen?

52 grams? They short you 4g on a 2oz order? Or did they go over on a 50g order?

Probably. It depends on the phone.

Why risk it though. Just smash that thing and get a new one.

Remember do not go for an interview with them without an attorney present!!! Lawyer up immediately.

"Encrypted with a pass code on lock screen" That's not encryption mate, that shit will be taken away in minutes, it's easy, Google it lol. Also, it wouldn't have been you're phone that got you caught, it was most likely shitty stealth.

Just tor nothing else

low hanging fruit lmfao gtfo kid but yes, yes they can. They will brute force attack that phone and be in it within seconds.

it's possible (http://sites.utexas.edu/iso/2015/09/15/android-5-lockscreen-bypass/)

First find out if your brother is telling the truth.

Wipe your phone completely ASAP - factory reset everything.

Don't text anyone about anything illegal. The same goes for phone calls.

Have a story prepared for why you have a PO box

If they come to talk to you, deny everything - you have no idea what they are talking about. They will attempt to scare an admission of guilt from you, don't fall for their scare tactics.

Your phone isn't "encrypted" anyway if there's a "pass code on lock screen"... The internal storage can be read, trivially.

Best advice for you is to do what /u/ziz1 suggests.

[1 Points] Anti-Hero_AU:

A thought, how do you know your cool 'bro' didn't just intercept the delivery himself (either knew how much of what you ordered or weighed it himself), then tell you: "the FBI came bruh, the gots all the weed man, watch out bro, watch out...".

How 'secure' was your PO box key and did he have a chance (at all) to access it (like the night you got plastered and passed out 'til half way through the next day or sumshit)?

Don't destroy the phone as that is another charge. Simply turn the phone off before they ask for it so that your device doesn't have it's encryption keys stored in memory (and therefor not usable in a bypass attempt.

Also, either your brother is full of crap or your local PD is misrepresenting itself. They could be bullshitting like when the Marshals have a liaison office attached to a local task force and they all do busts wearing Marshal vests. 52 grams isn't worth the time of the feds.
