Question for Vendors: Sales

This is possibly a question with a very simple answer, but I'd love to hear some feedback from vendors on the reasons that they occasionally do sales. Normal markets (ie, physical retail locations, Amazon, etc.) engage in sales for several reasons: drum up business for all products by discounting certain products in order to drive customers to their stores; sell a particular product whose expiration date is nearing; get rid of inventory that won't be sold anymore. There are other reasons as well, of course, but these are just a few off the top of my head. Do DNM vendors do sales for these reasons as well, or are there other reasons?

This question came up for me because one of my regular vendors was having a sale over the weekend and my immediate reaction was one of skepticism. My first thought was "what's wrong with this product that it needs to be sold on sale?" My next thought was "is this all part of an exit scam" (the product is being sold as FE, but this vendor has always sold this product as both FE and escrow, with a higher price for escrow; the sale was also time limited, not just an open ended date).

I'd love to hear some feedback from vendors in particular, but obviously everyone else is free to give their thoughts on this as well.

[2 Points] None:

Faster money and more customers. Also helps them to get rid of their product so they can re-up sooner.
