This is why I am so glad Evo shut down and fucked off. I had some really incriminating shit on the forums. I got well deep about my life on there a few times. Terrible opsec.

The issue is that Silk Road was a different time, and not everyone used PGP, even less so in the earlier days. So it really comes down to how much you ordered and how badly LE might want to get you.

Yep same with SR2 I imagine.
At some point the government will be done with all of the court cases and someone will be able to do a freedom of information request on it. That will be fun few weeks in the news, much like the Ashley Madison dump.
I thought I remember one of the admins of SR2 auctioning off some of the data, I'm suprised that the chat data or an old backup of the forums haven't surfaced somewhere.

Was the default message sending method plaintext?
The PMs were gotten in a large quantity (it's unclear exactly how far back, and how much was gotten through the live image of the Iceland server and how much from Ulbricht's Pennsylvania backups) and have been used to arrest users, yes. You see them pop up in a few cases like Black Lotus and Carl Mark Force the Fourth. Remember: trusted third parties are security vulnerabilities. Hope you used PGP...
