[Request] State of the Subreddit

It's been a few months since the last S.o.S address. I was hoping we could get another one before the start of 2017, addressing some questions and concerns that some members of this subreddit may have, and perhaps a general plan for the direction of this subreddit going into 2017.

Some things I'd like to see addressed:

Looking forward to seeing what 2017 has in store for this subreddit.

Let's Make /r/DarkNetMarkets Great Again.

Hey Dank!

Yes, we are working on a SoS that'll probably get posted very early next year.

Mod transition / addition of new mods / choosing of Head mod

This is the toughest. We are currently rebuilding the team back up as its pretty skeleton right now. Obviously ensuring the most seamless transition is important to all of us. I was asked to stay onboard until we added more mods. I agreed to that. Choosing the next head mod will be our toughest challenge I think. Obviously as most of the OGs around here already know, the last time I stepped aside as head mod, she ended up stealing money raised by this community for a charitable/worthy cause. And the head mod before her made the sub private and kicked everyone out for 5 or so days. Unfortunately due to the nature of how modding on Reddit works, we will have to be very careful and not rush this aspect since its essentially very difficult to reverse if there is a problem with the head mod. I think everyone would agree that finding the right person is paramount. There seemed to be a "head mod" curse which I'm gonna break and hope that stepping down scandal free becomes the new norm. Believe me, I wish there was a better solution to Reddit's "head mod" problem and that deciding who is head mod doesn't become as critical a decision as it is now.

Desired changes to the sub from the moderator's perspectives

This will definitely be discussed. I always think its good to be forward looking and share a vision of where you'd like to be headed.

Can we see the mod log matrix

lol, let me discuss this with the other mods. I'm not terribly comfortable giving stats out for anyone else unless they consent and for a potentially out of context view of work they performed. But that being said, I may blur everyone but me (you'd still be able to see a percentage of me overall). I don't believe there is precendent on giving the stats out, but what the hell, might just give the stats for me as compared to everyone else. I'm not sure how helpful it is, but I can spoil the surprise - I'll have the lowest stats, by far. Outside of me, I'd rather not have any other mod judged by these stats.

Lastly, a recap of the major subreddit changes in 2016 would be nice. Such as what new rules, policies, automod changes, mod additions, etc. were done to help improve the subreddit.

Yes, definitely will be including things such as this.

Wow, a link to my website in a tiny sub I watch, by someone I don't know.

What are the odds?

I have designed /r/thexanaxcartel specifically because there was a multitude of complaints about all the new bartards submerging this subreddit due to the ever-increasing popularity of xanax in the US and fingers were pointed at me. Unlike its predecessor TheBarons, its being properly modded and many DNM xanax vendors are active in my subreddit and are granted "Verified" or "Trusted" flairs. My subreddit contains the bartard drama like a prison and with it, I can keep the "damage" my business caused away from your sub. Now you are complaining that the specialised subreddits are fracturing the community? Please.

I have also noticed a deterioration in the quality of the posts over here. Primarily because many valuable members of this community (such as myself) do not post here as often as before, or cannot post anymore due to being confined to a prison cell (BBMC).

Also shitposts that tended to get removed are now just flaired "shitpost numba xxx". What's up with that?

I'd like to see a less hostile approach to Monero. It's been bashed, ridiculed and given mocking flair by u/2cblover of the mod team, and is now considered a banned topic last time I heard. He is abusing his status as mod by putting Monero into a negative view instead of giving it proper discourse and vetting. The fact that it is accepted by the largest DNM is all it needs to be here. Some points against it are quite valid and definitely need to be put into the spot light, but treating it as a joke is not the answer especially when it does not reflect the views of the community.

To give you an example of the hostility. This user, got a terrible reception. Nobody even cared about his actual question, they only saw the mention of an alternate crypto and attacked him. Mods and all in this unnecessary shit storm that makes us look like idiots.

I would like to see u/sapiophile as head mod, although he hasn't been around in a little bit, whats up with that?

edit:Some left over words

About the banner/CSS contest. This was planned but the person that was going to run it has not been around in a week. I will support it and give gold to winner or whatever is required. I think some community members should step up and run with it. We can sticky it for a week like discussed.

About the shit posts. I have spent the last two days removing AB posts. At one time it was like 1 every 5 minutes. "AB IS DOWN" over and over and over. While the top 3 post are about AB people are compelled to shit post. I don't get it.

I will work on that graph.

Why the sudden interest? You've been gone quite a while haven't you?

I suspect the fracturing of this community is due to

BBMC leaving. Nooooooooooooo, goddammit!!!!!!!!!

You lost me at megathread.... Granted I don't participate half as much as I used too but I still troll this DAILY and megathreads annoy me... I'm not scrolling 10 pages in comments just to find the 3 opiate vendors that advertise on here (talking about the deals of the week)

Mods are what make the community branch together (not asshole ones unlike a previous mod we had....) Look at the stats of when econ posts on here (mod announcements)... Also the traffic stats isn't super accurate due to tor users accessing this sub (forgot where I read that but I was the one who asked for the stats enabled from 2cb and right after googled how tor effects these stats)

As for ziz1 he's also a mod on here.... As for head mod honestly I'd say you (since your a "OG" dnm mod but you do have a certain tone to you (no offense to you) that isn't the greatest at times either way whatever happens to this sub I'll still come back however it's gonna slide down before it gets better and that's no matter how long econ stays to transition nor an OG mod staying on

/u/ziz1 - You have been summoned in the thread /r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/5icg4v/request_state_of_the_subreddit/ by /u/IGetDankShit.

This convenience is brought to you by AutoMod. Submissions do not automatically summon users like comments do. AutoMod is trying to be helpful.

For others, it should no longer be necessary to summon the referenced user in a comment any more. AutoMod has done the heavy lifting for you. You're welcome. Bow before me.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.
