EDIT: Asked this question on the Monero subreddit and they confirmed that my thinking was correct - https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6rmqj0/question_looking_for_some_clarifcation_on_how/?st=j5zo6quk&sh=f0775999
So since all the shit went down a few weeks ago been trying to improve my OPSEC, and I've turned my focus to monero.
My question is how safe is it to transfer from a clearnet monero wallet such as one on mymonero.com to my market wallet on TR for example. When I used bitcoin I would always transfer to an electrum wallet on tails first, but I am right in thinking this isn't necessary for monero?
My thinking was that while my IP would be linked to the txid (until Kovri is implemented at least) surely this shouldn't matter since the destination address (ie the market) won't be visible?
For gold standard opsec I guess this should be hidden too, but trying to set up the monero GUI over tails and connect it to a remote node (have tried downloading the blockchain too but that got corrupted after about 24h of downloading it) has been such a headache and I've not managed to do it after many hours of trying.
Is my thinking correct that my IP will linked to the txid but that won't give any prying eyes any more info than that a monero transaction was sent from my IP?
I guess you can't go too far. If anyone knows a good monero buy site or exchange site PM me thanks
