How to go about a dispute or long running deliveries?

On December 17th I ordered LSD from a Level 3 vendor on Evolution. The positive to negative feedback ratio was pretty high (98%), so everything seemed fine. The product was marked shipped on December 19th.

According to the vendor's profile, the average delivery time to my address would have been 7 days. Furthermore, a dispute should be opened two weeks after the product is in transit status.

Today is January 3rd, I am still waiting for my delivery and auto-finalization is closing in (1 day and a few hours remaining). Naturally I want to keep my dispute counter low (this would be my first), but this being a quite costly purchase, I don't want to lose my money / product.

Yesterday I messaged the vendor to let him know about the complications, but received no response yet. I understand that they are probably quite busy.

For now I will try to wait out as long as I can, as I have time left until Monday 10:00 AM. By that time the mail man could have visited me. If that is not the case I will file a dispute.

Now I seek your advice. What do you do in these cases? Is it still possible that the delivery is just atrociously delayed because of the immense holidays traffic and not lost? If the product does arrive after filing a dispute, is it possible to retract it?

I want to be a good customer and not cause any disturbance in the force.

Don't let the order finalize if you have not received your product! If it was shipped on December 19th then it would lead me to believe that Christmas and New Year's could of held your package up. Id give it a few more days but make sure you don't let it auto finalize as then you have no way to dispute the purchase.
