State of the Sub

Whats going /r/darknetmarket readers, scoundrels, and general hooligans? INFINITE here to bring you a much over due S.O.S post. We have grown quite a bit since our last S.O.S! nearly 45,000 subscribers. because of this, you might hear somethings you've been told 1000 times. don't worry, this is just for the new guys.

There is a lot to take in here, but please, read it all and give us your feedback.

I'm going to run through some of the new (and old) changes to the rules and a couple announcements:

SSBD FUNDRAISER FOR BOOKS, MAGAZINES, COMMISSARY and PHONE MONEY

Who is SSBD? He's an accused moderator of SR1, currently sitting and plans to plead guilty (not to a plea deal) and accept what he is given. His sentencing date is Friday, March 13. Any well wishes crossed fingers, praying-types, karma-senders, please start (and send money.)

Update 1 - Update 2 - Update 3

As you can tell - we are doing remarkably well, but we know we can do better. Please donate anything that you can spare at all. The quickest, easiest, and really does make a difference thing many people have been doing is that people drain wallets that don't really have quite enough in them to make much difference -- spare change left over, etc. We want to shout out to /u/CannaTreats, /u/GramsAdmin and CR_Rosakovo for their three HUGE donations lately - all over $100! (Two were an entire bitcoin) Tonight will be the first time we empty the wallet so /u/lobali can begin the process of exchanging what is there into fiat but the fundraiser will run for some time. A large portion on the funds will be going to top off his commissary and telephone accounts and I got a note from SSBD via intermediary that all said and done it costs him about $116 a week to be in prison. We can certainly see how many weeks we can carry for him. (Right now it's about almost two months.)

So please if you have a donation planned -- now is the time. We certainly are not going to shut the door, it will stay running for a long time; Thursday PM is just the first drain of the wallet. Also a quick thanks to Grams again as he is waiving the Helix fees for us to not a cent gets lost to unnecessary fees. Western Union fees are being paid for by a grant from a moderator so those won't be counted as expenses, either.

We GREW! We have to make some changes for it.

Check it out. We have 45,000 members. We are no longer the kind of fun playground that we used to be and have now become a bit of a force out there. As such, we really have to start realizing what, exactly, we have become.

For those who don't know, this subreddit was initially just an offshoot of /r/silkroad with only a few hundred members. We are now one of the first places people turn to find out how to use these markets safely. For this, we are also noticed and much more carefully monitored. About six months ago, we had a long, frank discussion about what we can and can't allow with reddit admins and placed in effect a new system to allows for us to permit vendor advertising and sourcing questions. We have written bot after bot after bot, and still a half dozen or so of these posts leak through every day.

THE #1 RULE of using DNMs is to pay attention and not think you're somehow an exception that can leak through. So posting threads that are blatantly against the rules -- especially the ones that smack you in the face in the submission bar - tells us that the people doing this are simple not detail oriented enough to be using markets safely. And since these posts are the ones that will potentially cause US to be in trouble, we have no choice to but start enforcing temporary bans on users who ignore the rules.

Starting immediately, one-week, no-first-warning bans will be automatically placed on any member posting the following outside of the dedicated Sun/Wed ad/sourcing threads:

PERMANENT BANS will be given for:

None of these will be tolerated, period. Contest the ban all you want, but we can not change this rule without putting ourselves in harms way. Spend the week reading the rules.

This brings us to:

Community watchdogging

Never forget that all users have at least two tools they can use to help get rid of unwanted threads. First - the report button. Three individual reports remove a thread with mod action. But a single report makes it so the mods see a big yellow button on a post and we absolutely all go look at those first. If it's an error, we can remove the report. But it helps.

If you happen to catch something that needs our attention NOW - just use the "Message the Mods" button and send us a link. We do and will respond as soon as possible.

Harm reduction

Recently we have had a large upswing of posts complaining about weak, fake, and not-as-advertised testing. Please remember that reagent tests are CHEAP and can be found on Amazon and eBay -- buy one and use them.

There has been mention that people would like to see a community driven (and funded) re-creation of something along the lines of the LSD avengers, but with an academic bend in which we will most likely user Energy Control to test the tabs. This is something we would love to participate in. However, this is something that we have to do RIGHT, and there is a massive legal problem smacking us in the face. There's nothing illegal about the SSBD fundraiser - anyone can send books and money to prisoners and I will be legally acquiring them. It is NOT, however, legal for us to purchase drugs, only pay for the testing of such. We are in contact with an attorney who is helping us design a program.

You guys have to keep in mind that this isn't something that will get off the ground in a week, a month is a more reasonable timeline. Also, this will be under an entirely different subreddit in order to protect ourselves. If anyone would like to come forward to help us run the sub, please message me. Right now, I've snagged /r/DNMAvengers. Please go subscribe as content will be coming in the future.

Sidebar

Since there is an amazing N00b sub just a click away, we will focus this subreddit on experienced users. Noob question threads willl be closed and directed there, and more of the primers will be removed.

As well, we will be removing tumblers from the sidebar entirely. There are too many now; we can not pick and choose who are good and who are potential scams, and even great ones can turn scam overnight. We believe that we don't need to tell people how to buy bitcoin, how to set up your computer, and so on. Our users should be able to research tumblers and choose for themselves. Of course we will allow discussion of them in threads; we just aren't linking them.

We would also like input on what SHOULD be there. There are too many markets to list so they'll remain in the Wiki as a superlist. We currently allow inclusion of markets who have been operating with no hack and no downtime between when they formally announce to us they exist and want included. Feedback is welcome. Should all tumblers and other services being included there?

Trickier is when to add an active warning and we would LOVE input on where we should draw those lines.

Titles

With so many more subscribers we have been getting a huge amount of reviews lately. We have tried to standardize templates and create some sort of post tagging system but it hasn't been very successful. Some are in favor of enforcing titling requirments for reviews such as

[Market] Amount + Item - Vendor - (Country if applicable)

[Evo] 28g Marijuana - ExampleWeedVendor - US

What do you guys think of this? it would allow for much greater use of the search bar and create less clutter. We never want to enforce things that detract harshly from the user experience, so what would you think of this?

A Few last points:

We as a team not only welcome, we crave feedback from users. We are all extremely approachable and all hold the attitude that we want to help organize what the community itself wants to shape itself into. Please never feel hesitant to contact us for anything, post threads with ideas, whatever comes to mind. We truly want the input.

And thank you ALL for making us grow into what we are, and being part of this.

Additionally, and my apologies to this for being a bit late -- please welcome /u/TheEconomist1 to the mod team. He's done an incredible job so far and we couldn't be happier to have him.

Thanks everyone!

Infinite and the rest of the mod team.

You sound like the POTUS of the darknet. :)

The source questions are annoying and I flag them accordingly.

Guys... stop posting vendor names, cities, selfies, mail covers, tracking info, pink slip notices and the same questions repeatedly. Somebody doxes themselves on a daily basis.

I would like to place a moratorium on Belize jokes if possible.

Judge: 20 years for facilitating drug dealing on the reditz!

Lawyer: Objection your honor! It was a Wednesday!

Happy to see you guys starting to clean up the sub a bit, you all do good work. Quick suggestion, maybe add a popup when hovering the mouse over the "Submit a Post" button saying all noob questions should be posted over in /r/DarkNetMarketsNoobs. I've seen a lot of noob posts on the new feed the past few weeks, maybe that'll cut it down some.

/r/DNMAvengers

I am /u/DnmAvenger just sayin, guys.... I kinda feel obligated to help in some way. I have always tried to help anyway.

[7 Points] neverforget1:

The wiki should include more than just markets. Onion forums and tumblers should definitely be there.

state of the sub: also known as infinite's adderall order came in today =]

[5 Points] lamarrotems:

Great post. I was wondering about all the sourcing questions - can definitely understand why they were banned in the first place.

Still would like to see something done about all the recent shipping related threads.

A sidenote to SSBD. Via intermaries, I have learned that it costs him roughly $116 DOLLARS per week to be in there between commisary and things like phone calls. We have enough to keep him going for a few weeks - as of last check we have 3.7-ish bitcoin.

I will be doing the first transfer to fiat in about 2 hours. But between now and then I am flat out BEGGING -- toss whatever people can in the pool.

And again, this will stay ongoing; I will convert each fortnight or once a month until it's empty with nothing incoming. I committed to this for the long haul and I intend to keep my word.

TLDR: GIVE HIM MONEY ASAP NOW PLEASE.

Address since I forgot to ask Infinite to include it in the post: 12tyijNFQHiEppXymrC96DT692y5cFsEcr

Good luck with /r/DNMAvengers - qualitative and quantitative analysis is a huge plus. But please take your time, and work out how to avoid being manipulated, and maybe start small so you can deal with all the unexpected problems that will inevitably crop up without being overwhelmed by them.

[2 Points] None:

This affects precisely no-one but if they give SSBD a long sentence I'm going to be fucking furious.

He should get not a day more than time served and be sent home to get on with his life.

Also, I know Ulbricht's already been found guilty on 7 counts but surely Peter Nash pleading guilty thanks to evidence on Ulbricht's laptop of doom is going to slow down the 'Ross Ulbricht, still not guilty! Here's our lame Karpeles didit defense one last time! wewt wewt Dratel's getting paid another half a mill Ross's family don't have' train as it pulls into the appeals court next year?

[2 Points] r3ptarr:

I think that vendor format is the best. Especially when organized like this. These posts really helped me out when I was a noob.

What is this?

Goddamn the Spring theme is great.

I think banning people for asking about sources or regions is kind of weak sauce. What exactly is this sub supposed to become? A place for tinfoil hat conspiracies and reviews? People should be able to come here any day of the week and ask where they can find the best weed or the best dealer in their region.

[2 Points] durgsrbad:

Ignore buttons would be boss. It's getting laborious not giving a shit what 44 000 other people type.
