bitcoins stolen from localbitcoin wallet

Hi,

So i just bought 390$ AUD worth of bitcoin through a localbitcoin cash deposit into the traders account. Two hours later after loggin back into my local bitcoin account I noticed the money is gone and has been sent to an address? How could someone have stolen the bitcoin? Is my phone/laptop compromised or wtf??Could the trader have stolen it somehow? He knew my phone number and name only....

Fairly pissed right now as this was my first BTC purchase I was gonna use on the DNM.....

Did you have 2-FA enabled on your account?

Let me guess - you're using Windows?

So i figured out how i fucked up...

Yes i did have 2-fa and yes i was obviously using windows for my localbitcoins wallet as using tails can attract attention..

I fucked up by downloading what i thought was the official localbitcoins app on google play (they have no mobile app). there they asked for my 2-fa, key , app pin etc...hadn't a fucking clue as this was my first btc purchase(i wanted to use app because i wanted to be able to scan wallet address instead of typing them...pure laziness)..so someone got the coins just as i was trying to set up an app to send them to my tails electrum wallet...

Lesson learned, but costly one.

If you have a phone/laptop combo, and you aren't using 2-FA........

Just look at this as lesson learned I guess.

Your operating system is compromised or more likely you used a email that you've used in a million and one sites

Same thing happened to me a while back. I was trying to use a smartphone to browse LBC. Googled localbitcoin and clicked the first result. It was actually an ad for a phishing site. Bought my bitcoin, went home to transfer them to my laptop and they were gone.

Check your login history and if you had login guard enabled, check your email. If you had login guard then you had to have accidentally given another IP access to your account.

Ever since then I've enable 2-fa

This happened to me before, it might have been that you visited a site that looks like LBC but wasn't they probably got your info and emptied your acct, typically happens when you google LBC, sucks because google knows about shit like this and they still keep those site up on the first page and shit. I'd recommend google authenticator next time

Were you on public wifi? If so passwords are easily sniffed through packet analysis. Malware that is logging your keystrokes is also a possibility. Consider a reinstall of your OS.

Use your own data connection, use a strong password, and use 2 factor authentication.

Trader didn't take it. Sounds like your setup is compromised.

My condolences.

=(

[1 Points] FagDamager:

use 2FA man, you can use an authentication app which makes it handier. nothing I can suggest about the lost BTC though b, sorry

[1 Points] chefjoesb:

Why aren't you using mycelium wallet? It has a built in LBC feature. I've used it many times no probs. Get mycelium and you won't ever run into this again
