Vendor asked me to contact via Wicker... normal or suspicious?

Okay so, I order, and this convo, paraphrased, happens:

Vendor: Slight issue with your order, contact me via wicker at [username]

Me: I'm worried about wicker's security since it's closed-source and doesn't look like it has a Tails version. Can we talk about it here on the marketplace instead? My account lists my PGP public key if you need that

Vendor: I can't sign your transaction here on the marketplace, that's why I wanted to discuss on wicker and find another way to do the transaction

Me: I understand, however I'd like to keep all convos and transactions on the marketplace so there's a record. If that doesn't work for you then I'd like to apologize and request a refund.

At which point he did do the refund. So... I understand why he'd want to take extra security when moving money, but if the marketplace doesnt "see" the transaction then I could never dispute it if I had to. Weird or am I paranoid?

Asking to deal on wickr doesn't always have to be shady but this all does sound kinda suspicious. It's always better to be safe than sorry, I think you handled it the right way. I vote weird. Yeah if you paid off the marketplace there would be no dispute option.

Fuck that, sounds like he got caught in a lie so he refunded.

Wickr is actually pretty secure for a instant message app. But you should not trust this vendors statement at all. Especially if you never had contact with him on wickr before.

This is a good example of why we need the dnm, the civility between buyer and vendor is something you rarely see on the street. I'm not very experienced nor do I claim to be any kind of expert but I wouldn't trust Wickr and I applaud you for sticking to your gut because you never know and its always better to be safe than sorry.

Use Facebook messenger for no anonymity.

wickr is open source now but i still feel ya worries

[9 Points] Al1ce1nunderland:

Use MSN Messenger!

[4 Points] instahighuk:

No what you did was completely legit. Only ever deal through Wickr with trusted vendors.

[5 Points] SirNarcotics:

Wickr is open source now.

I don't believe that there is an "issue with your order" but some vendors have been wanting to work directly with the customer, rather than thru a dnm for safety. If your vendor is old timey & reliable, I'd message him thru wicker. Maybe his dnm post is just a way for people to reach him? Does he ever sell thru the dnm?

[1 Points] hellfinger:

market ? no matter : just bulleshit ! cancel your order

[1 Points] SimpleToker:

Send me a pm there

[1 Points] theslutbag:

BTW Wickr is open-source but you did the right thing IMO

[1 Points] smokeythebandit12:

Sounds like he is trying to get you to deal off the market.

[1 Points] MauldotheLastCrafter:

You're buying drugs online. Be as careful as you can be, and never even begin to apologize for it.

[1 Points] TreyWait:

Suspisious. Vendor?

[1 Points] WhewCookie:

Many people use Wickr it always made me wonder. It doesn't have any encryption. It uses different type of 'hiding' the message. I honestly don't really know, but WhatsApp would be more secure

[1 Points] WhewCookie:

You probably were just paranoid but the decision you made was very good in that matter. I wouldn't have thought of the compromise

[1 Points] Avengerhack:

Yeah it's probably DEA telling you to add them on Wickr so they can sell you 5g of weed and arrest you. Use your head, whether it's open source or not, they are not going after buyers who don't order significant amounts.

Most likely a scammer.
