I neef monero but don't know how to convert bitcoin to monero

Can someone explain to me the steps of converting bitcpin to monero? I think there's an autobot that gives instructions. If the autobot does not show up though can someone point me in the direction of a site to do it and how I would do it? Do I just send btc to the site and then I get monero? I'm not too familiar with monero so where would the monero be sent to? I heard shapeshift is run by the DEA or something so which site should I use? Is it changelly?

Before using ShapeShift.io's services, please consider the fact that ShapeShift's CIO is an advisor for law enforcement groups and a member of the Blockchain Intelligence Group. ShapeShift also publishes all transactions (amounts, times, currencies, etc.) on a public API, and you should expect no privacy from ShapeShift for various reasons.

There are several ShapeShift competitors operating. Examples (sorted alphabetically):

/r/DarkNetMarkets does not endorse nor make money from any of the above services.

localmonero.co & bisq.network are the safest ways to obtain Monero.

Sure, shapeshift/changelly/etc work, but they also keep IP logs and report what people do to the government when requested.

Why not just deposit btc into binance then sell for xmr?

i like xmr.to, and they also have a onion site, so i use that.
