Any chance of a controlled delivery for Ayahuasca in the U.S.?

This may sound like a stupid question, but there's a few things that just happened that have me worried. I ordered Ayahuasca material from the Netherlands. I got it today - really quickly, which I suspect is a good thing. But I ended up signing for it when signature wasn't required. I just came home and was opening my apartment mailbox and the postman saw that I was opening #25, and he said "oh! you live in 25? here, this is for you", and then just dropped it off. I took it and said thanks.

He mentioned that he was supposed to just leave it at the door but was afraid someone would steal it. Then after walking away he said "hey oh_ayahuasca, wait! I need you to sign for this. Just a formality". Since I already physically accepted the package I decided it would seem extremely unnatural to refuse a signature at that point. So I signed. He mentioned he did not normally do that route and he was all mixed up. Seemed possible...I had never seen that postman before and I often recognize the others. But that's also reason to believe that he was law enforcement.

Well, it's been about a half hour and no one has arrested me yet. I wrote "Refused. Return to Sender" on the package, even though that might not mean anything after signing for it. None of the plants in the box (caapi, syrian rue, and acacia confusa) are scheduled, but I'm guessing they could still arrest you for DMT if they wanted to. I only ordered enough for maybe 5-10 doses, but I have other illegal substances in my apartment - none of which I shipped to this address though. It would just screw me if they ever got a warrant.

Do you think I should be worried?

You should be fine, OP.

[3 Points] UndefinedExperience:

As long as it was just root and not all the ingredients for an actual brew you are fine. I order mimosa a lot, I sign for it every time. You have nothing to worry about.

If you had time to get on reddit and post, you're good. From the accounts I've read it'll happen pretty quickly after package acceptance or in a rare few cases there will be some sort of sensor in there to alert LE to when it has been opened.

[2 Points] clubrat:

Supreme Court ruled that it is not illegal to obtain the material but is illegal to brew.
