Is it safe to run tails on virtual box in a flash drive

I'm having an error I can't fix with tails where it just boots up into a blue screen with a cursor but stays there forever and I can't find a solution but tails on virtual box works completely fine but idk if it's safe so I haven't installed or done anything with it. is it safe to have tails on virtual box on a flash drive

Slim chance, but do you have an obscure graphics card? Sounds like xServer can't start up. I'm not 100% but I'd bet vBox is emulating a video card and that's why it will start up.

If tails is Linux based, and I believe it is, there is a key combo you can hit to get to a terminal and be able to paste a command that may fix this. Ctl alt 1 - 5 I think? So I'd Google "tails x server won't start " and include your video card.

Could be maybe default resolution isn't supported?

As for your security concerns, sorry I have no idea.

Now that I think about it, I should have known the obvious answer.

Virtual box is another layer on top of your PC. So anything you do in a VM is filtering through your non secure computer, and it's connection.

There maybe a way to tell vbox to go through some more secure channel, but in the end. I wouldn't trust it.

I’m not sure but I know on the tails website they say to not use a virtual machine. I’ve never heard about using a flash drive in a virtual machine though. If you’re using a flash drive anyways, why not just boot from the drive like recommended?

I figured out the problem it is using my monitor as a second screen instead of a clone screen how can I fix this without settings or anything like that

Nvm fixed it by shutting my laptop so it made my monitor my main screen
