I need to prove who I am on an account on a DNM. (I made a major noob goof, locked myself out); They've asked that I do this:
please send us a pgp signed message with that pgp key from that account
I'm not 100% sure what they need me to do here. Do they want me to write a message, then do "sign/encrypt clipboard with public keys"?
That makes the most sense to me, but I'm a little lost and unsure if that's correct. Part of me thinks that even if I do that, they can't really tell that's from my key. But I'm very new to PGP and so I could be wrong.
Any help would be appreciated!
They will be able to verify it's you because you're supposed to be the only person with access to the private key someone would need in order to sign/encrypt a message from the person who owns the public key the market has on flile. Using the public key you gave them previously, they can verify that you own the private half of the key used to sign this message to them, and thereby verify your identity.
PGP is a beautiful thing.
