My impressions of Darknet after lurking for a month

Background: I did get some LSD about a year ago from some market.. I forget the name now.. At the time it did not seem that hard once I figured out how to do the 7-11 card -> bitcoin + PGP thing.

But just reading it seems terrifying now. Every other post is about a scam or about a bust. Has it gotten more difficult recently or are 99% of deal going with no problems but people only post when there are problems ?

BINGO

People come to reddit mostly for FUD or to whine about their package taking longer than they wanted it to or whatever other little things make them feel better.

Most of the time people yelling SCAM! haven't even talked to the vendor about it.

DNMs are still far safer than real life purchases, In both terms of LE and ripoffs.

Absolutely nothing has changed. You're still a newbie. Been around the "markets" for 5 years now and its always been the same. The same people who get scammed are ALWAYS going to get scammed because they have no idea what they are doing and are probably 18. The name of the markets have changed, but all the basics are the same.

I've been using the same vendor for 4 years now and never had a missing package, seizure, or scam. If you do even a minuscule amount of research and understand that sometimes things are too good to be true, you'll be fine.

The same exit scammers pop up under similar names and the same people get scammed. Every. Single. Time. If its 100 dollars for an ounce for example FE only, use your brain.

I had a very similar Q when I lurked, the average is a 95% success rate. Just never FE. Also don't be a dick, if you talk like an ass, and type like you talk, they won't take you serious.

Open an account and buy little things here and there, low priced items & build up your rep, you need to build some cred. Think of it like an eBay acct, you can't expect to buy/sell big ticket items when it shows you haven't done any business before. The rating/review system goes both ways.

I didn't jump in until after a year of reading every (almost every) post ppl posted Qs for and what ppl usually answered to that Q. I literally read every post on the sidebar, in this /r/ and in DNMnoobs. And a few other /r/ suggested by the sidebar.

All the resources are available to you. Use your intelligence to your advantage. Read everything.

Edit: left out encryption. It goes w/o saying its important. Since it's all in the sidebar. And have read everything before opening an account...you'd know that

It's fine. Just do your due diligence and you will be ok

Business is bigger than ever, it just seems terrible here because the 1% of deals that go bad and people complain here is bigger number now.

[1 Points] suchpls:

only problems come from the low hanging fruit that do not have a clue. everyone loses money once or twice. but that is the name of the game.

[1 Points] Dopplerpt:

I've not lost anything yet and it seems I use a new vendor every month

[1 Points] barsonbarson:

yeah, i think most deals are pretty seemless. I think any black market is very primitive on every level, including the part of the brain to which black market offerings appeal to.

I mention it cause its just very dramatic. everyones a drama queen, and there arent the checks and balances of the legal market.

id say take people's advice though, especially the advice you hear time and time again

hence why violence and shit occurs in this world. i dunno i thought it was interesting

[1 Points] DickPunchington:

Most of it is FUD. If the transaction goes well no one on either end talks about it - thats kind of the point and the benefit of the dark net. Also, from personal experience, I've used at least 7 or 8 vendors and never had a problem.

Honestly, I feel like the glory days are past us. Maybe not in the USA but people from smaller countries in Europe took a big hit in both price and selection when SR1 fell.

There are like 2 reputable vendors in my country and they only sell a few different drugs each. And our customs got strict as shit after the SR media hype so ordering overseas is sketchy as hell.

[1 Points] None:

In regards to the actual markets themselves DPR had it on lock. I mean at least for a long time. I made my first LSD buy on sr1 about a week before it got busted, I was pimpit's 6th ever customer. My only advice is the obvious, don't keep shit in your account and don't FE for any sketchbags. Only time I got ripped off was because I FE'd for some fucktard by the name of "shop"

[1 Points] Dopplerpt:

Everything has gone thru for me..the loudest ones are the ones who will come here and report scam at any discrepancy in their order

[1 Points] ZummerzetZider:

there are more markets now, and I think there are more participants, so there are more occasions for things to go wrong

Everything is exactly as it was and has been. The original silk road forums were just as flooded with impatient, unprepared, idiots getting scammed by the people who realized that this is just as good a method of getting people to hand over their cash for free as it is a way of doing mostly anonymous commerce.

Even before SR on all of the throwaway forums and clearnet mail order drug websites the community looked exactly the same.

I wouldn't say I'm an old hand by any means, but I've been a web based consumer since about 2005 and I've only had one package fail to arrive and I've never felt the need to change my purchasing habits.

Do your research, be on the lookout for exit scams, be wary of anyone who is too new or too old in the community. "Well established" and "trusted" are words that should have a time limit from the buyer's perspective. Don't expect your primary contact to be around forever, treat every purchase like it is the first time. You have no way to verify what is happening on the other side. Don't get complacent. Just because he's sent you great stuff with amazing stealth once a month for 2 years doesn't mean that he may not want to close up shop and go out with an exit scam. Keep your ear to the ground and you'll get a feel for when things don't seem right.

The only difference between the market then and now is the volume of buyers and sellers. From what I can tell the proportion of scammers to would be scammers (aka. dealers) has remained more or less constant throughout the last decade (holy balls I can't believe I've been doing this for that long).
