Got scammed by a legitimate medical dispensary for 5 figures. Never forget that these shenanigans happen in the "legitimate" world too...

Long story fuckin short.

I consigned about 4.5 lbs of some fuckin amazing indoor, best they would have in the shop by far. I offer to continue the relationship if payments are made on the regular.

Fuckin great, I think. Another revenue stream that I don't have to think about, just make a drop every few weeks and collect cash.

Their consignment thing (which is prevelant in the area in which I was vending the mmj) states that they will pay within 45-60 days of receipt of the product. We're going on 90 for the first and 75 on the last.

This place is still up and running and I cannot fuckin believe this shit. I've been in there, talked to the owner, and they've given me like 4 "calendar dates" where I could collect where lo and behold, something would fall through and it would get pushed back. They promise to make good but I've found out so much information about their operation since then that I'm quite honestly doubting it at this point.

Just goes to show you that you can get scammed in a face to face transaction in a "legal" establishment just as easily as online.

Am I fucked? xD

NEXT DAY EDIT: I went in and demanded a pay-by date. I explained that if I did not leave their establishment today with at least a promise to pay and date, that the two people they would hear from next are my lawyer, their City Council and Sherriffs office (the people they pay taxes to to stay in business.)

I love the law :)

I was given a date less than 2 weeks out from now with a promise to pay.

I didn't say or threaten this but I also plan on paying to have an instagram and FB campaign launched against them if they indeed do not pay up.

Conversation was recorded too :)

I'll make a follow-up post with a pic of the cash and proof in some form that it was from this consignment when/if I am paid.

Are you a legal grower? Was there a contract? If so I'd look for a legal way to settle this. Sue those bitches.

[31 Points] None:

Not that difficult just hire some big ass goons to come in right as the shop is closing and fuck shit up

Who the fuck fronts 4.5 pounds ? IDGAF legitimate or not I'm not fronting that much weight out. If it was so good , why did you need to front it ? Good weed sells itself and people are always willing to throw down cash for the best of the best.

Hire a lawyer to look over whichever contract you signed...and then have someone besides you serve them papers insisting a civil suit WILL be filed if the contract is not upheld....be careful though in a lot of medical states 4.5lb is more than a patient is allowed to posses and the laws always been kinda murky around it...if youre local and you grow and they know where you live you might want to be careful demanding the loot from them...additionally you may want to consider an interest clause for late payments in the ammended part of the papers ....do NOT react too viciously or outside of the law as it will only justify the shop owner for not paying you...the fact that they had you sign a contract that they didnt hold their end of the deal of is odd so again i might call them today and say hey i need 100$ out of your pay today (i know they owe u fucktons more) if they cannot provide that for you then tell them they are taking the nuclear option and that they WILL be dealing with your lawyer only from here on in...good luck and as frustrated as you are do your best to placate whatever bullshit excuses they offer as to why they cant pay...if they do give the hundred btw dont call the lawyer, wait a day or two (maybe on a friday near close) and call again and say youve got a 3-400 bill you need to pay etc...the reason i say to try to retrieve even small increments is youre in a burning building of a situation right now and it really doesnt seem like they will be capable of shelling out the 6-10k+ depending on price you guys agreed...last question are they out of stock of your ins yet or have they been flowing other contributors flower and reupping meanwhile ur shit jus collects dust...if so then they really dont need to pay you because its consignment.

Not trying to be an ass but you're partially at fault. Handing them 4.5lb of meds on a "consignment" basis and receiving payment in 45-60 days didn't ring any bells for you?

Some legit dispensaries do operate on consignment however payment is guaranteed in 1-2 weeks regardless if your product was sold or not.

Next time try 1lb to a large reputable dispensary you might have to drive a couple hours and wait a couple more in the vending line but you wont get scammed.

Are you fully licensed? Or are you like a Michigan grower where it's greyscale?

Burn it down

If the owner say's he will have the money he will have it, if he promises a date and something came in between that's really shit (for you both).

A guy I work for does the same, fortunately I'm in need of the cash most of the times. This guy has to pay wages, taxes on taxes, other supplies that demand to be payed directly. So does this bussiness owner and so do you.

For next deliveries to this guy, make sure you put in a late payment clause in the contract. Pay on time get X% off pay late pay X% more.

Never give up on getting money that is legally yours, but yes you're fucked. You don't have the money you need to run your operation, you have more work because he is not paying and you need to remind him of paying without result so far.

Call every morning until they pay up.

And if this does not work start sending invoices, with extra administration costs on it.

Goodluck!

If it's under a certain amount, small claims. Make sure you have all documents. Make sure you are charging a 1.5% late fee too, that they sign in the original contract. But you can also charge up to 3%, I believe. But, your best bet is small claims, you'll get your money eventually. IANAL just been on my own since 19 and have owned a few small businesses

Find someone who specializes in fixing problems, someone who would "Equalize" this issue, offer them part of the deal and then allow them to go fix this.
