Theory: Bitmixer was pressured to be shutdown by LE. The new tumbler to fill the gap will be a honey pot.

If that happens it will again be a huge blow for DNMs. If you read the final message of Bitmixer before shutting down, you would have a feeling that something went on before deciding to close it down.

It makes no sense to close a profitable service which they believed in.

Do your illicit transactions with XMR and cashout to BTC/USD to avoid the need for a mixer. Why use a centralized mixer when you can use a proof-of-work backed blockchain?

I'm sad to see them go, Bitmixer was an important part of the bitcoin community. But... at least they didn't pull a massive exit scam, and I'm also a bit relieved to find out they weren't a honeypot all along. Dude should go enjoy his money, I'm sure he's made enough to last quite a while.

bitblender, Grams

No it won't. There are at least a handful of ways to tumble coins, at a lower cost than 2.5% (Grams) no less, that don't even involve official mixing services to begin with.

You can't just say "anything is possible" as justification for your wild speculation. I could say LE is planning on buying TOR and releasing an update to deanonymise users. Anything is possible right? Better safe than sorry.

There is no evidence whatsoever to support the very large claims you're bringing forward. This is exactly the kind of FUD that this community is seeing too much of right now. Leave the fear mongering to Law Enforcement.

Im pretty sure Bitmixer was controlled by LE for some time now. Why would they close the service?

They are making a lot of money with it.
