What is the damage control method for controlled deliveries at a po box?

So we all know about what a controlled delivery at a house looks like, but what about a PO box?

At my post office the boxes are too small to hold packages, so every package has to be picked up at the front desk with a little slip of paper they stick in your box.

It seems very suspicious to outright deny receiving a package after they have already taken your slip, doesn't it? My post office is pretty small and only has a few workers, but it is still busy and I don't really have access to any other way to pick up packages.

Even if they bring in the cop to hand me the package, and I know it's not a normal worker, what am I supposed to do? Say "nevermind, I decided I didn't get a package" and just walk out the damn door? That's the sketchiest shit I've ever heard of.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? What is a way I can get out of a possible controlled delivery situation at a po box?

Just wait a week before picking it up. Will they really have a full team ready to seize you for that many days in a row? Doubt it

No problem saying 'I'm expecting a package, but nothing like that.'

Act as if your phone is vibrating and you really need to take an important call. Hurriedly step outside to console your imaginary and hysterical SO, walk away.

Request to see the package and if you're 100% sure it's a CD claim that's not the package you're expecting

If you think you're being set up, don't sign anything. If anything seems odd, when you're picking up the package look at the address a couple of times and then say "I don't know who could have sent this package to me, I don't know anyone from [package origin] and I didn't order anything in the mail recently" then politely walk away. Still a bit sketchy, but it might work.
