So I've been presented with an intriguing opportunity to move pounds upon pounds of weed, purchased online and then resold locally. I'd only have to deal with one person, and he can literally buy as many pounds as I can supply. The person I'd be selling to is by no means new to dealing, but he's in need of a new weed connect (weed's not his primary money maker), and I just happen to be in the right place at the right tie (depending on how you look at it, I suppose).
There are a few parameters here, regarding the particular strain, and the quality of the herb, but after doing about 2-3 weeks of research, it looks like I can clear around $400/lb at the "rack rate" for a pound, and likely a good bit more if I'm able to buy 5-10lbs at a time. I could potentially clear 3-5k/week, cash, which certainly wouldn't hurt my current financial situation.
I'm not going into this willy nilly, and have actually gone through the process of vetting ~8-10 vendors with small amounts, just to see how quickly they ship, how courteous and timely they are with their replies to questions, stealth, quality of product, and so on. There are still 2-3 more vendors that I'm waiting on samples from, but you get the idea.
I've managed to secure one very solid drop, and am working on a second.
A couple of questions: 1) how many drops would I ideally want to have if I was bringing in 3-5lbs/week? 2) Is bringing in 3-5lbs/week not even feasible to begin with? 3) Would it be possible, given tight OPSEC, to move more than 5 lbs/week? 4) Do vendors typically send pounds in 1 package, or do they break it up into 2 HP's? 5) Would a PO Box be worth looking into? 6) Any vendors that I should DEFINITELY avoid?
I think one of my biggest concerns is getting scammed. The thought of FE'ing $3k off the bat, and then upwards of $5-10k once things get rolling, gives me more anxiety than the fear of getting caught. Right or wrong, that's just the way it is. Any words of wisdom on how to avoid getting scammed? Start small, maybe order a QP or HP, and then gradually increase volume? Doesn't seem like many vendors are willing to escrow for LB's and above...
Any other advice would be helpful. I haven't fully committed to this yet, because I want to make sure I've taken care of everything that I can actually control, but some advice from fellow redditors that have potentially moved some similar weight would be extremely helpful.
Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for all of the insightful comments and advice. After reading over everything, and giving this more thought, I'm going to put these plans on hold until I: a) figure out a better economic breakdown, b) wrap my head around the BTC issue c) find at least one more solid drop, d) reach out to some other vendors for more advice, e) try to find a local connect in CO or CA that I know and trust, therefore avoiding the whole DNM/BTC issue, f) just say fuck it and not do it at all.
EDIT II: Yeah, it's definitely not worth it, especially for the amount of money that I'd be making. Thanks for dissuading me from making a potentially gigantic mistake...seemed great in theory, but yeah, not so much.
