What Do We As Consumers expect?

Often times, we see buyers quick to accuse vendors. While each vendor is representative of a single option, customer service can be a major influence in terms of repeat consumerism. With that being said:

What is your expected response time for a message?

What is an acceptable amount of time for an order to process and be marked shipped?

Shipping times will vary with distance so that's a little harder to control, however, it is greatly influence by the previous question. By no means am I a DMN veteran, but I would like some input from you to determine our own "Expectations of Quality Vendors."

Honestly I expect if I place an order Friday-Sunday for it to be shipped Monday. If I order it Monday-Thursday I expect it to ship by the end of the next business day, even if I order at 3AM Monday, its fine if its in the mail Tuesday. For domestic orders (USA), 3-4 business days, generally five days (counting weekends) tops, unless there is inclement weather or a federal holiday. For international orders most vendors willing to ship to the US are in distance for two weeks once shipped to be reasonable.

That's just my thoughts. If a vendor is up front about delays to having a personal life that's fine. I'd rather you have a nice night out, or spend time with family and friends, than you worry about shipping me drugs.

With a domestic order I expect it to be shipped by the end of the next working day. I also expect that when it is marked as shipped it actually has been or is about to be. That might sound obvious but some vendors are notorious for marking packages as shipped but not actually posting them until days/weeks afterwards. I'm looking at you, PFM.

Providing it has been shipped the day they say then I expect it to come the following day. The UK is not that big of a country and I usually pay for special delivery if the vendor doesn't offer it as a given and is willing to do it (which offers tracking and is guaranteed before 1pm the next working day) If it comes the day after which can sometimes happen even with special delivery, I can live with that though. I have Amazon Prime and my stuff from there doesn't always come the next day even if I've ordered it in the time frame to guarantee next day delivery.

I used to use a vendor who turned out to live in the same city as me, he would ship within a few hours of my order and I would receive it the next day.

As far as messages, I expect a reply within 24 at the most. Less if they're a smallish vendor.

I am fine with vendors having private lives. I am fine if they give themselves days off every week etc as long as they are upfront about it. It pisses me off when they lie. I'd rather them say they're backed up with orders and are trying to catch up than just do a disappearing act for a couple of weeks to process orders because that causes so much suspicion and paranoia for all the people waiting. It's really not that hard or time consuming just to post a message on the forum explaining. I had that happen to me once with a vendor going AWOL for 3 weeks after I placed an order, my package arrived after about a fortnight but I was pissed because I was thinking he was either scamming or had been arrested. I never used him again.

[2 Points] Throwaway_concept:

I expect responses to be no more than 48 hrs. More realistically, 24. Especially if i have an active order with you.

I expect my package to be shipped out in 2 days or less, especially if a vendor claims they ship so and so with so and so cutoff time.

I expect priority mail to take the usual 5 days, and will ask after that time has passed. With express, if it's been more than two days, the vendor didn't ship it express, or USPS majorly fucked up and i'll go get my express money back.
