Australians ordering overseas - problems recently?

I had one of my packages seized and read recently that there has been extra scrutiny lately on overseas packages with the whole ice fear campaign. I was wondering if anyone has noticed unusual activity with packages being seized more than normal

read this on bestAussieGears page

"As many Australian DN users may have been made aware today. Austpost in WA are working in full co-operation with LE in the detection and confiscation of illicit substances, in particular Methamphetamines."

so looks like there is some heat even domestically

Not from AUS, but over the sea and from what I've seen a lot of people have been experiencing delays including myself

I wouldn't be too worried just yet. I've never ordered from overseas since I consider that too risky, so I can't comment on that, but I'd be wary of any announcements claiming to be taking action against drugs in the post without seeing any outcomes (e.g. arrests). You have to realise that even if they had LE at every post office searching all incoming mail with dogs you'd still get some stuff past them. There are also still heaps and heaps of letters which don't contain drugs sent every day and that's going to make it much harder for them to catch people sending drugs.

If you are really concerned, stop ordering from overseas, stick to ordering smaller amounts from vendors which have built up a reputation of good stealth. Obviously I'm not suggesting you should be placing small orders every day, but just avoid ordering huge amounts. Maybe stick to ordering 'low risk' items e.g. blotters and small amounts of powders which are easily hidden and don't smell and avoid bulkier and smellier stuff (e.g. weed).

The safest thing to do would be to go easy on orders for a bit and to see what really comes from this. Personally it probably won't affect my habits on DNMs. I might avoid a couple of vendors who have particularly poor stealth and avoid large quantities and 'harder' drugs which they might be more likely to press charges for. But I'm not too worried.
