Is Laudanum still a thing?

The drug you're looking for is called Paregoric. It was once available over the counter. They still manufacture it (after a two year gap of not doing so) but I'm not sure where you'd even go about trying to get it. Grams doesn't have any listed, most pharmacies haven't carried it in a long while, and most doctors you run into these days know nothing about it except it's an old drug they're not supposed to prescribe.
It's really kind of sad too. If you truly had an upset stomach, this stuff would fix it right up. Even if you had the "I actually drank the water on vacation in Mexico shits" that Imodium doesn't stop.
BTW, real Laudanum was 25x stronger dose for dose. I guess where everyone is dying of TB, you don't fuck around with weak cough syrup lol

DTO is the closest you'll find, the slightly more refined Deodorized Tincture of Opium. That is, if you can find it. It was grandfathered in before the Food and Drug Act, so manufacturing quotas are set to zero (for the reason mentioned by Dirtyjerzyy. Closest equivalent commonly prescribed in the U.S. is liquid morphine sulphate. Maybe better luck in the U.K. or elsewhere.

I made it, poppies from out back, made it with brandy. Delightful.
You'd have to make your own. The heyday of "let's combine addictive cns depressants" is loong gone
