VENDORS PLAIN TEXTING TRACKING OR ZIP CODE OR CITY PLEASE STOP

vendors who send me city or tracking number through plain text but pgp everything else when i asked for tracking or if it arrived. wtf why!?!?!? i dont understand. ive seen highly used/trusted vendors do this to some of my accounts more than once. please stop if your doing it. if site operators are le they can use that information and build a profile on your account. espeically if you pgp text me about arrival date why cant u pgp me the damn zip code too?? ive heard of vendors plain texting arrival time of pack and city again isnt that dumb? cant any le with a brain figure out which package was shipped at so and so time to so and so city and build a profile off that? am i over reacting?

Yeah... this should be a no-brainer.

It's because alpha does not let vendors auto encrypt with your pgp key on your profile. They have to manual import your key and I guess they get lazy. Alphabay needs to have a auto encrypt for messages

mannn I just had the same thing happen, vendor provided tracking in the seller notes without pgp. I didn't even ask for it. Not too happy about it!

I've had this happen from multiple vendors over the years and some of them are top tier vendors with thousands of sales and have been around for years as well. It's really surprising and disappointing.

I agree, it's an absolute opsec facepalm. But the reasoning behind it is so if there's a dispute on the order, there's already a proof of shipment available that everybody involved can verify. If it's encrypted via your PGP key and the vendor later deleted or otherwise got rid of everything on their end, the only person who can legitimately read that message is you (which doesn't do either the vendor or the dispute mod any good in that sort of situation). In the case of a dispute where it's your word against theirs, it's easier for all parties involved to figure out what's going on without having to trust someone of unknown intention to decrypt a message that only they can read and then accurately relay that information back into the conversation. If it's encrypted, there's no way for anybody to know if you're actually giving them the correct tracking number or if you're intentionally showing them a different one that doesn't relate to the order in question and trying to pull some kind of scam.

What are your thoughts on priv notes with the tracking? One of my vendors did that for me and I kinda liked it.
