Dream potentially exit scamming (Educated speculation)

Dream "exit scams" every other day according to the users of this sub, but it feels like its time has come and they are running with the money.

Why? Let's list some facts and discuss:

They have never undergone so much downtime like this in their ~4 years of running and never had such regular "maintenance", out of this maintenance what has changed? There hasn't been any site breaking bugs I'm aware of, no design changes other than the Support button being removed. Of course there could be a lot that has changed behind the scenes, but there hasn't been any new sort of features that would require this, not even multi-sig integration.

The accounts being locked out is a common theme in this sub, only a few "reputable" users have brought it up, it's been new accounts posting these claims more often than not, same for missing coin.

What did this hardware failure cause? Wiped out some wallets that weren't backed up? Deposit addresses are simply "middle-men" that redirect the coins to the main market hot wallet and once this occurs your account is credited with a static value in their database. This wouldn't be possible unless I am misunderstanding how their process works or if the hardware failure somehow only corrupted a single "balance" column or table (unlikely to be a table just for balances). It would HAVE to be a database issue for a balance to change, correct me if I am wrong. Even so, where are your backups? You've been running for such a long time and don't make regular backups? A user account I made shortly before this so-called hardware failure, still exists, it is perfectly accessible so why wasn't that affected?

This is the same thing for the vendor bonds, they would not be affected unless it was a database issue, but resorting to an older database backup would not only remove the newer balances, but it would also remove any new accounts, messages etc.

Think how many times Agora went down, they earned everyone's trust because they always came back without a scratch on them and after a short while it became the norm, no one would bat an eyelid because they instilled this trust. Dream going down so many times and re-appearing would have the same effect on people, then when it comes to their disappearing act, off they go and it will take a good few days before anyone takes the thought of an exit scam seriously.

I'm not saying this is the truth and there could be perfectly good explanations for all of this, but I really just can't see them. Just keep your eyes peeled and be careful, try not to keep any money on the market, which is a practice that should be the norm for people, but evidently isn't. What's not to say that this isn't an elaborate ploy as they start to steal the bulk of coins that will be ready to move whilst camouflaging within normal out-going transactions from the market.

Something else to think about, but not to be taken seriously because it is likely just FUD - the market may be compromized, they tried to make AB look like an exit scam and all these problems don't make any sense.

TL;DR Nightmare

That took a long long long time to happen , i remember the days when people wouldn't even recommend it

hdd crash you mentioned earlier

hey have never undergone so much downtime like this in their ~4 years of running

simply not true, check the search function for posts for dream = offline and simply count, was much worse in the past

Even so, where are your backups?

you cant backup every hour, you know that right? (of course you could, but that would produce heavy load)

A user account I made shortly before this so-called hardware failure, still exists, it is perfectly accessible so why wasn't that affected?

cause the wallet lost has most likely nothing to do in the sql database, i mean, the values of the wallet wont be saved in the user sql, just a reference pointing to something that now is not there. (or simply 0)

All vendor bonds gone and will be repaid from commission

is it like that? is there a public announcement regarding this? sorry, did not notice.

Very smart post. My findings have reflected this and I think many in the community are agreeing with this position. As someone told me: Dream is as corrupt as their wallets!

Sheesh this is the 10th time they have exit scammed this month.

[2 Points] UnderGroundDrugRoad:

Their exit scam is consistant. It is better to never stop exit scamming if people keep coming. It's time to go to Trade Route.

[1 Points] 1kgbrick:

started trade route only 2 months ago shady AF

[1 Points] drugpigthrowaway:

about $200 is missing from my account, which had not been touched for months. Yes that's my fault. If they replace it they can earn my trust back. if they don't I will never shop there again. I'm off to register with some more sites.....

[1 Points] 100blooot:

thank god, i logged in an my balance was still at ~$7.50. suckers

Also i know everyone has had problems with dream for a while now. I think i am one of the few who have never had a single issue with anything ive done on dream. They fucked over my most used vendor though so now i have to DD or pay way more on traderoute.

I contacted yesterday on DM my favorite Vendor and asking him directly about ordering on DM, he felt that it is still save even though I have doupts about that. I lost about 20 Euros which where in my DM Wallet. Not a big issue but hesitant to deposit gain.

What it feels like to me:

After AlphaBay and Hansa went away the original owner(s) decided to bolt before they got arrested/caught/found. They sold the site to an employee/underling that isn't as smart or knowledgable with the IT side of things and left with the money they wanted. Now the new owner is doing what he can to milk as much out without getting caught and hopefully without the customers catching on.

That's where the bullshit "issues" are coming from. Someone that thinks it sounds like a plausible excuse for these things to happen but they aren't really sure or smart enough to know if what they claim is bs or not. They hope the wallet excuse buys enough time to take more cash before claiming vendor bonds gone to get more cash ....to buy enough time to...say whatever comes next.

[-7 Points] TheOpiateKing:

Dream is completely fine. People are just sheep who believe everything they hear. Shit happens. Dreams implemented a lot of different changes. Only site I'll buy on.

Sadly we have to agree with your conclusions. We have reach conclusions. Many conclusions OP. We could not have said it better ourselves, so we salute you. I've been testing all the markets for Tier 1 HA FA compliance and dream scored poorly. All of the markets did (scored piss poor) on the SuperList, except for one. There was one that stood out as the bearer of the DNM torch who will lead you and this community to the next generation of platforms and tools. My literature will be released in a few days with our many conclusions. These are conclusions you will want to read OP.

Remember, check for the Tier 1 compliance and this will ensure you are safe. Tier 1 won't be able to exit scam you. Tier 1 won't be able to have LE infiltration. THe times are changing. And there is one market that is poised to lead us all to a better DNM.
