[PSA/Article] Someone in Government Was Also Tipping Off Silk Road 2, Sources Say

Interesting article & interesting claim by Joseph Cox:

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/someone-in-government-was-also-tipping-off-silk-road-2-sources-say

tl;dr - DoctorCLU (and Tang Probably) Claimed that Oracle was LE (as many of us claimed before), and the article say that there is a possibility that it was also another handle of Carl Mark Force. True? who knows.

As /u/gwern put it on twitter: Clu is a liar, fool, and thief, Oracle a self-confessed disinfo artist, ...

My hands are greasy from all of this popcorn.

The Oracle wasn't an artist. Silk Road 2 took a page from Fight Club and had a mischief committee. They paid off journalists and had an INFOSEC department run by a bunch of space monkeys on stimulants. They weren't professional by any means, which is why they had a UC on staff and their site was a soup sandwich full of no escrow drama.

Also I heard Dr. Clu sent Joseph Cox a copy of the vendor/mod forum. And kickbacks for good publicity.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if Oracle ever posts again. Considering we know that that SA Mr. Carl Force most certainly won't. I had always thought that Oracle was Alfred or the first 'DPR 2' and still was never doxxed and is out there somewhere, free and still fighting for the cause. Maybe Oracle was the one who gave LE what they needed to charge Force&Bridges in order to call into question Ross' investigations integrity. And maybe get Ross free on a mistrial for revealing that the agents were compromised. Kinda a dream, but in this world anything is possible.

Good read! Thank you sir :)

EDIT: best quote of the article "Even years after it was closed down, the story of Silk Road continues to amaze, confuse and astound. As investigators dig deeper into the supposed links between law enforcement agents and the marketplace, it is sure to only get weirder"
