I'm thinking about talking to a laywer just incase anything bad were to happen to me. Thought?

As implied, I am not in any trouble... yet.

My idea is that if I talk to a laywer I will not only get a better expectation of the trouble to come, but it will make my case much more winable.

Im a college student and my biggest fear is that I may lose my scholorship and get kicked out of school. Prison really doesnt scare me but the college thing would hurt my parents more than me, not to mention life as a convicted fellon. I feel that a laywer could help me understand the circumstances a little better.

Also, there is the huge bonus of having a laywer on deck if I do get picked up leaving my mailbox. One call and he will know what happened.

My main concerns are:

  1. How much will it cost just to speak for a few hours now and a few hours later?

  2. Obviously he cannot testify against me, but is there any disadvantage to coming clean to a laywer about my activities?

  3. Would he take me seriosuly? If I actually paid for an hour of his time, would he talk to me about this and actually give me good advice or would it be the "dont do drugs at all" advice that I am kind of expecting?

  4. Could I arrange for him to contact my family in the case that I get arrested?

Poliece dont scare me and I will never talk to poliece, under any circumstances. I know better than to help those fuckers do their own dirty work, but if they hit me with a bad enough change and start investigating me furthur, well, I dont know what they might find...

As always, thank you /r/dnm for your time.

Not scared of police? You must not have run into a crooked cop. They do not give a fuck about you, your scholarship, or your family. You're a number to them, one more gold star for a job well done.

If you aren't scared of prison, I'll gladly share stories with you to make you scared. Believe me, it's no fucking daycare.

Kid get your life in order.

Go to school and maintain that scholar ship.

You seem like the type who is all talk.

So what activities are you engaging in? Are you dealing? Personal use?

While I do find it advisable to have at least the name of an attorney at the ready, I don't now if you'll get what you think you will from a meeting with a lawyer. If you are looking to simply establish a relationship with a lawyer, that's fine, but a lawyer is never going to advice you to break the law or help you find ways to circumvent or insulate yourself from the law. We should all know its illegal to do what we do here. Are you confused about the penalties and ramifications? A lawyer could enlighten you in this area.

You should always be completely transparent with your attorney. I'm just not sure what this visit would accomplish aside from establishing a reltaionship and having someone to call should you find yourself in trouble. Also don't underestimate LE and their ability to fuck you and get you talking. They are good at what they do. There should be a natural "fear" of them b/c of what they can and will do. I already see your weakness from this post, I guarantee LE will exploit that. So just be prepared. "Hey, just talk, we know you have scholarship money in the balance so a big legal mess will fuck that up for you..." You get my drift.

Prison doesnt scare you should really think about that if you have ever been incarcerated you would know the sound of the keys and doors alone is enough to put chills down your spine anyway if you talk to a lawyer there is confidentiality they cant say shit but i dont think it would be a bad idea to have one on hand but dont go jumping to admitting to crimes

All the lawyers in my area offer one free consultation. You shouldn't be paying for a short hypothetical chat.

[2 Points] TheLizardKing89:

  1. I have no idea. Call around your local area and ask.

  2. No. You should be totally honest with your lawyer. The only possible downside is that your lawyer can't suborn perjury by putting you on the stand if he knows you will lie. If this is a factor, your lawyer will know what question to ask and what not to ask.

  3. Unless you get a Saul Goodman-type lawyer, they aren't going to advise you on how to commit crimes.

  4. If you get arrested, yeah, call your lawyer and tell them to call your family.

Very good idea I think. May cost 100$ for one hour, but this money definitely worth it

One of my friends was doing this thing where she sells this package and you get a bunch of discounts on insurance and things like that. One of the packages was pay like 20 dollars a month and they give you a lawyer on standby if you need consulting/get audited/child support, etc. pretty much anything you go to court for at a pretty good discount. I don't know much about it though. They did have some meeting in Las Vegas that sounded pretty fun and they paid for it, soooo... Might be legit? Lol

You should keep a lawyer on retainer. Make sure it's a trusted and vetted one at that. If it's personal amounts I could see getting a 400 or 500 an hr one. Bulk or resale spare no expense. Do NOT cheap out. That few hundred you save does you no good when Leroy and his friends are running a train on you. How much is your freedom worth? A lawyer is like a fire extinguisher. It is not made to keep a fire from happening or make it dissappear, it's to minimize the damage. You seem like you should prolly find someone irl to get the stuff for you. A fuckin quarter of smoke or a gram of whatever isn't worth even a night in county. Reevaluate your shit man. And I mean that in the nicest way.

You can buy an hour consultation with a lawyer and talk to him. I would HIGHLY recommend this if you are a mid level or high up dealer at or around your campus. There is no disadvantage to talking to your lawyer. He may even be able to help you stay out of trouble.

I was/am in a similar boat and have had a few run ins with police. It's not fun without a lawyer.
