Vendors Saving Addresses

Based off previous posts and personal experience, it seems that even some of the best vendors save addresses. Recently someone posted talking about getting pills sent to him from a vendor he hadn't spoken to in months which means the vendor had to have saved his addressed and gotten mixed up. I've also had an experience where a top notch vendor was able to cross check a previous order address about a month after I ordered (I dont want to say more for fear of compromisng my opsec).

How common is this really? Everyone talks about it being best practice for vendors etc but does anyone really believe they totally scrap each one after? Doesn't it almost make sense for them to hold onto the address for some amount of time to deal with potential scamming, fraud, etc? And if someone finds out vendors are saving addresses is it the buyers responsibility to let people know?

Just sort of a question of Darknet ethics in a way I've been curious about for some time so I figured I'd get the discussion going.

Once I ship someone's order, I delete the address. The only thing I save is the zip code to match with the tracking numbder, which I then delete once the order has been finalized. I can't speak for any other vendors, but if anyone has a problem with what I'm doing or has a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it.

Only reason I do the zip code thing is because I am not infalible and have very occasionally given people the wrong tracking number back when I used to have insane volume of sales during SR1. If that happens I ask the customer their zip code and check my books; issue resolved.

IMO, I think a majority do. It is unfortunate but they likely do cause that is what most businessess do, i.e. collect and gather info on their customers.

Some also probably do it cause they probably figure that if they ever caught they can use it as a bargaining chip. IIRC Xking was doing this (snitch bitch). It sucks, but it is the price we pay. I especially don't like it cause people I know IRL don't usually know my name.
