Package returned to sender w my name on it

so if you check my history I had some issues ordering to a po box in December. Finally got tracking on one (the other one didn't keep tracking) and it said delivered dec 22 when it wasn't. Just now checked: returned to sender on January 28. I know my name is on that package. Fucked, right. I'm gonna message the vendor when I get a chance to see what kind of return address he would have put. Fuck. Just asking for thoughts, if this sort of thing has happened to anyone before. Cause, fuck.

Was it personal amounts? As /u/DrQuarters_ said there is a 99% chance that the vendor used a real address belonging to some random person or business. More than likely those people will get the package, open it up, see the contents and if you are lucky consume it, but more than likely will contact the police. Wish I could say something different but more than likely that'll happen. The question is, what will LE do? Usually vendors will put a return address from somewhere close to where the vendor ships from. So hopefully its in a different state and for personal amounts maybe they won't do much if they can't even really go interview you without involving other agencies (assuming they call out local LE).

I don't know what usually comes of these things as most people never post follow ups, especially if they are under investigation. I did read this happening in my state before, but for a decent amount of cocaine. It was returned to sender b/c it was addressed to a vacant home and some random dude opened it and called the cops. It made the news b/c it was not personal amounts of coke.

To be safe, if I were you I'd assume you were under investigation and do not order anything else at all from the DNMs for a long time. Clean house. And at least be ready in case the police knock - know to assert your rights, etc, etc. Remember, you never got a package with naything illegal. They still would need to prove you were the one expecting it.

So what ended up to be the problem??? Maybe if you are somewhat lucky they have a totally bad address and won't connect it to you at all. Do you know if you gave the vendor the wrong address or what?? How did it happen? You had two packs go missing, different vendors? If so, it sounds like you fucked up in giving the address. having 2 packs in the mail doesn't really increase your risks all that much - that wasn't your fuck up. Something else fucked up. Hopefully the addy was totally off and they won't connect anything to you. If it was just a zip code (which I doubt, they can deliver if the zip code is screwed up sometimes), then no, but if the box number was completely wrong, maybe nothing will come of it.

Good luck man, this really sucks. Keep us posted if you can. I'd be curious to know what went wrong? I'm thinking you must have fucked up the address in some way. Do you know how yet? Don't tell us how if it'll connect you to it. Don't say "I transposed 2 numbers" b/c then that could be used. I'm just curious if YOU know how it went wrong?

He used a completely random return address. I can almost guarantee it. It ended up at somebody's home or office building

In my opinion you will be okay. You never had any contact with the package. If you regularly practice good opsec, and as a precaution keep your house clean, keep your computer totally clean (if really paranoid consider creating a system image if you use windows and completely wiping your hdd, then you can restore it later), then I do not really see there being proof you did anything wrong. Heavy suspicion sure, a possible visit from LE, there's a chance, but you being arrested on suspicion alone for the possibility you had small amounts of controlled substances mailed to you, I would say 99% chance no. I would advise taking some safety precautions as insurance, and I would also avoid ever having anything mailed to this same address again. However, aside from that, I think you're solid.

One thing I would ask though; when you checked the tracking, did you do it from your home IP address, without a vpn or tor, or something to mask your physical location? Because that's the only thing I can think of that would prove you had any knowledge that this package was in existence. Although even in that case, I really do not see LE going through that much trouble for something so minor, and even if they for some reason were really bored and decided too, it's not enough evidence to charge you. So rest easy and just be careful in the future. I would also seriously consider not using that vendor again, does not seem very competent.

Kudos @rider23 for maintaining a guerrilla opsec mindset, however, image and reload does not protect from even the simplest of data recovery efforts. I can recover data ten layers down in about ten minutes. Clean house means clean house - including any harddrives; take the petty loss on the chin and move on. Use live tails or whonix in the future and never EVER fuck around from the domicile. Tracking inquiries should always be done from a different and sterile compartment; calls from a burn phone far away from home and with a sim card acquired far removed from you. If anyone ever confronts you about this particular transaction, repeat after me: "I don't know nothing, didn't see nothing, I'm the dumbest motherfucker you ever met." Rinse and repeat. Having said that, I tend to agree with the consensus here, you're probably alright. Lesson learned.

"I had some issues ordering to a po box" how does this happen?

Not the end of the world. Best case scenario: nothing happens, continue doing what you're doing. Worst case scenario: stop buying drugs on the Internet and you will be fine.
