so I just got blackmailed

Basically, I got a letter in the mail linking my real name with an alias I use for the darknet markets. They are threatening to reveal this to authorities unless I send them some BTC (see letter: https://imgur.com/a/7ESgz)

Pretty sure its BS. I can't pay because there's no guarantee that they won't make me keep paying, even if they were legit. What's scary is that if there was a big enough version of this, maybe they could threaten to release all the names on a website. Perhaps to some people that might be pretty embarrassing, especially if it made it to the news or something. But... I'm guessing this is just a lone vendor that's decided to squeeze a few extra bucks from having such intel.

I'm curious to see if anyone on this site has experienced the same letter and "T.C.C & Friends". From this point on... every name I give to vendors will be unique to them, and I will keep a record. Unique usernames for darknets too. I have no idea why I ever used my real name, the markets and vendors just kept suggesting we should...

Dear Police,

Here is the name and address of someone who receives grams of drugs in the mail. I know this, because I used to send this person grams of drugs in the mail. I have attempted to blackmail this person, but they have not paid me, and that is why I am coming to you. Arrest them at once!!!

Sincerely,

Guy who sells grams of drugs

Lucky, I want to be blackmailed but it's never happened to me yet :(

[16 Points] melatonin321:

Good lord, people. Don't make your blackmail letters so verbose. We ain't got time to read that shit.

And why is the first paragraph essentially a commercial "our competitive prices and overall outstanding service"? It isn't like you are going to encourage repeat business with a blackmail letter.

Also, from what I have learned from a couple of lawyers, an anonymous tip about someone buying drugs isn't going to make the police do shit. If it was that easy, people would be doing it all the time to harass their enemies.

Just saw this on the dream forums posted :

"Received a regular letter in the postal mail today demanded money be donated in exchange for their silence of my personal information?... help read below The letter is signed T.C.C. & Friends I received a letter postmarked from Tampa Florida and dated 21 SEPT 2018 PM today with no return address on it. I opened it and in a nutshell this unformatted computer printed letter says that they were a vendor I purchased from on one of the Dark Web Markets (Alphabay, Agora, Dream , etc) claiming I purchased addy and that unfortunately they got caught by the cops due to one of their team members making a costly mistake and that since this vendor lawyered up they were offered a deal to be a CI -some kid no of confidential informant to the cops. This letter is requesting that I send a pretty large BTC donation to a specified wallet address that is in the letter in the amount of 0.25 BTC within 10 days and by doing so this vendor will not hand my name, address and apparently other personal info and picture over to the cops? This person said I will lose my job, be arrested, got to jail and my life will be ruined. I don't recognize the vendor's name and I haven't ordered any addy since Feb and it was for like 5 pills? I did attempt to make 1 other purchase a few months ago and got scammed out of like 250 by a vendor that got banned on Dream, so this is the only other possibly person/vendor that could be demanding such a thing. Whoever this person/vendor is addressed the written letter to me in my full name and also my DM username. The username is not 100% correct but pretty close. This person says that if I do not agree to donate .25BTC within 10 days that the amount of the requested donation will increase to .40 BTC and I will receive another letter within the ten days asking for it. This vendor said if I chose to ignore all requests for the mentioned amount of .25 and then .40 if I don't pay the .25 or .40 if I wait, that they will release all of my information to the police that they are working with and that there won't be a third chance to donate the money in exchange for their silence. This person said that I will have to deal with police and will go to jail! They said that they aren't playing around and if I test them I will pay a valuable cost. They claim they can get me arrested! Has anyone ever received such a letter in the regular mail before? I'm really scared and I don't have $1,000 usd to donate to a person that I don't know. Any advice as to how I should handle this? I am pretty rattled about this and don't know what I should do? HELP"

Replies on that forum suggest tcc and friends have sent this letter out to a few people. The more people that have had this letter, the more chance you have of finding the sender, I bet you all have at most 1 common vendor maybe.

MOST people buy personal amounts and have it shipped to their residence, which is why it's recommended to use your real credentials.

Your good man, don't pay shit. How do you plan on using a different name for every vendor ? If you use a different name for your house it might not get delivered , elaborate please ?

[3 Points] JesseisWinning:

I received the exact same fucking letter!! I'm pMing you and maybe we can go over a list together and figure out who it is!

[2 Points] JesusHatesFagssss:

Only way it could be better is if he ended it with a brown paper bag in a trash can in s park with no police :(

It's nice to see the the mix of technology isn't it?

A extortion letter like in 80s. AND bitcoin. Awesome

Satoshi would be rollling over in his grave (Rolling in grave full of money I'm sure).

[1 Points] EternalTurmoil:

Name the vendor.

[1 Points] Thx002:

Never answer to a blackmailer even when doxxed, but change your tor market identity, there's no other way, start over, because he may not want to call the police or some stupid shit, but he may get angry and just post your personal info in a forum, then LE sees it, then it's bad...

Ahahhahhaha pleasure island style ahahahhahahaha

[1 Points] DNM_FuckFace:

It's BS they won't do shit 90% of the time. Plus who would take them seriously. "Hi I'd like to make an anonymous tip" "Go on" "well I'm a vendor on the DN and would like to inform you of my buyers location" *folds hands under chin sarcastically "mhmm mhmm do tell".

[1 Points] aliensrepep:

Haha snitch if I was a snitch I'd hide that shit from my own mother

[1 Points] somanyroads:

Totally disregard that. I would also recommend lighting it on fire, for good measure.
