[GeneralQuestions] LE registering as a vendor?

Hello people! I was wondering today, why the LE doesn't just register as a vendor, start selling products and obviously knock on the door of people that sent them their address? Seems like the easiest of things to do. Are the vendors checked in any way before they start selling?

DELETE THIS BEFORE LE SEES IT!!! YOU CAN'T JUST HAND THEM BRILLIANT IDEAS ON A SILVER PLATTER!!!

Seriously though, what would they do when they knocked on your door? Arrest you? For what?

Not to mention, their market feedback would look pretty bad.

It's certainly possible. I don't know of any examples of it happening around here, but I know it has happened with fake IDs before. The reason it likely doesn't happen is because it really doesn't get LE anywhere. They sell a gram of H to some kid then break down his door. Great, they just spent a ton of time and resources to find this poor guy and it leads them nowhere. They target vendors, not buyers.

[5 Points] al_eberia:

They have, but only for highly targeted low sales stuff such as guns or poison. If you look at the recent arrests of people buying poison they were sold it by an undercover. Some of the accounts were taken over by LE after they arrested the sellers and they cooperated and other were just setup by them.

It has worked for guns and poison because you don't expect that many deals to have been conducted so it is easy for LE to fake the feeback for the account. They can also be sure that they won't get overwhelmed with orders, and the local law enforcement in the buyer's hometown will be very interested in taking down anyone ordering deadly stuff.

My guess would be the lack of evidence. Even if someone did put in an order and gave them their address to drop it off to. They would be hard pressed to prove that you were actually the person that made this order, I don't possibly see how they could prove this beyond a reasonable doubt. Especially if you never actually sign for the package (which you should never sign for a package), you could argue that you had no idea what was even in the package. I don't see how they could prove you were the one that ordered it even if you ordered it from the comfort of your own Internet and Wi-Fi connection, anybody could be using your Wi-Fi. Very hard case to prove

because they might get two or three people before word got out and then the jig would be up for them.

Im no lawyer, but, unless im mistaken, in the USA cops cant sell drugs legally (this doent mean thast they wont). Thats why they pop a vendor and make the vendor continue business as usual - the vendor sells the drugs and the cops show at your door.

I think that's what this entire thing is..every market and vendor is LE

[2 Points] Theeconomist1:

They could do this, nothing really stopping them except even they probably realize that this would be a very poor use of resources. LE generally liked to work their way UP the drug chain when they make arrests: arrest buyers who rat out the dealer who rats out their dealer and so forth. LE doing this creates a dead end - nowhere to go since there is no vendor/dealer to rat out.

Also, b/c of the nature of the DNMs, this can't be a local po'dunk police dept doing it. It's got to be at the federal level - if not, you've got a shitload of coordination b/w jurisdictions. Keep in mind when LE targets buyers IRL, its often to clean up a neighborhood. This happens a lot with prostitution stings aimed at the johns - a certain area is rife w/ prostitution and the neighbors are complaining, so LE sets up a sting to nab johns - mainly b/c they've found this is a more effective deterrant as a prostitute often returns back to turning tricks right after release from jail. A john probably is scared straight and this scares other johns. So, in other words, stings aimed at buyers often happen at the hyper-local level (problems within particular neighborhoods).

Then you have the problem of a lengthy and potential expensive trial - all to nab some dude who order a few pills. Definitely not worthy. On the other hand, LE may bust a vendor and continue to operate their vendor account to try to nab large buyers/resellers.

Its easy to do. But not easy to get results or really do much. I think even LE realizes that this is a shitty strategy. They can't operate long term at all either - they won't ship drugs, so they'll burn their vendor accounts weekly.

Would it not be considered entrapment in the US at least?

[1 Points] None:

FE will report back......

from jail :(

[1 Points] None:

but im sure itll be a bunch of busts for small time buyers.... probably not worth it.... right?

[1 Points] greaterhongkong:

Indeed they do! It is for this great reason that the systems for reputation and ratings are in existence.

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

because the people sending them their address, DONT HAVE ANY DRUGS! that's why they are buying them!

Yeah it was called SR2

Typically the agencies with the interest in doing this are involved in illegal gun tracking and counterfeits.
