Ross Ulbricht Just Appealed His Life Sentence

Ross Ulbricht, the 31-year-old sentenced to life after being convicted of running the deep web market Silk Road, is appealing his sentence.

Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison last week after being found guilty in February on all counts related to running the site, which facilitated more than $200 million in illegal transactions, which were almost entirely drug deals.

He wasted no time filing the notice of appeal, which disputes both the guilty conviction and the sentence. His lawyers submitted the document to the court on Thursday, less than one week after his sentencing.

Anyone else think it's rather childish of LE to make an "example of him" that's not how the law should work...

Can someone remind me the sentence the CEO of Lehman Brothers got for causing a global financial meltdown? Oh nevermind, it just hit me! ZERO! Instead, they all walked away with hundreds of millions in their pockets!

Yeah, FUCK YOUR SYSTEM! The "FUCK" with big, colossal, font.

Good luck Ross. You bear this cross for all of us, so that we may sin in safety.

I really do think he should be punished for his crimes, but not to this extent. Like I said in a different thread, there are actual murderers and rapists that get less time which is fucked. I do think he deserves a non-biased retrial though. It is bull shit that 90% off his defense wasnt allowed to be used because it was brought up to close to his trial even though the prosecution did the exact same thing and theirs was allowed. He should be allowed a full retrial where the defense and prosecution can use everything they have. I also think they need to prove how they found the servers because the amendments DO matter and if the government can get away with this then what's next?

No chance in hell. They GOV't had it out for him. I wish him luck

When you think your life is tough sometime in the next week or two; or things are really getting you down - imagine that someone is sitting in a cell with a life sentence w/o parole laid down on them. Makes me queasy just thinking about it.

I have only the best wishes for Ross but I can;t see this doing anything. LE wanted to make an example of him and they have done just that. Going back on or lowering the sentence would do them no good, Ross is there to stay.

I hope that someday this changes, but it doesn't look good for Ross at all.

Can we finance a movie style jail break for him?

Does anyone know if there's a way to write this guy letters while he is imprisoned? I'd like to write some fan mail, see if he responds. Would be interesting to talk to the guy

Lol. That'll go over like a turd in a punch bowl.

His only way out of this is to tie his bedsheets into a noose.

I hope stays in jail for life, like all the other (black/brown) dealers/murderers
