Potential $1000+ scam attempt against vendor by 2 customers. Give your thoughts/opinions.

Hey everyone, we've been vending for over a year and have 99.9% positive feedback and want to know your thoughts on what we believe to be a scam attempt against us before we accuse anyone of any wrongdoing. We've never seen this attempt before:

Scam works like this: Customer 1 with little feedback history orders low priced item with FE, Customer 2 with positive feedback orders high priced item with escrow. Both receive orders and both claim they received wrong item, both want re-ship which totals about $1000 loss for us if we agree to their terms. We've never made a mistake like this before and we've been vending for over 1 year, but mistakes happen so it is possible but unlikely.

Reasons this could be a scam (all of them add up to make this scenario very suspicious):

  1. Received 2 separate orders from 2 different customers, one for highest priced item we have with escrow, total $900+, and one for the lowest priced item we have with FE, total $40.

  2. Both customers only sent messages to us at the same time, never spaced out in time (example: message from customer 1 comes at 12:35, message from customer 2 comes at 12:38)

  3. Both customers have the same exact PGP program, "Version: GnuPG v1"

  4. both customers have a key that was created to expire in exactly 5 years.

  5. customer with no feedback created their pgp key AFTER we asked them for it.

  6. Both writing samples received look similar to each other because of the way they are formatted and spelling used.

  7. both spell word "thru" the same

  8. both have same semicolon error in the word "I;m"

  9. both address us as "man" in the first sentence

  10. both use elipses incorrectly [two periods instead of three].

  11. both use word "norco" instead of "vicodin, lortab, etc." to describe Hydrocodone

  12. both use word "shatter" instead of "wax, bho, co2, oil, extract, etc" to describe cannabis concentrates

  13. Both customers offered to send pictures of their order in the last sentence of their paragraphs but we never asked for this and both offered in the same manner.

  14. Both customers asked for only a re-ship, no refund mentioned.

  15. Both customers have exactly the same amount of letters and numbers in their username, in the same placement. Example: "Abc123" vs "Sad333"

  16. Both customers had the same "tone" in their messages.

Messages received on day 1:

Customer 1 ($40 spent on order, registered same day of purchase, only has 1 feedback from a $1 item): "Kinda freaking out here man. I;m an ex-dope fiend and was totally not expecting to get a package of norcos today. I don't want anything to do with them, seeing as I know I'll get back into dope hard, fast. I have nobody I can sell these to, because I cut those people out of my life. And I really cant afford to pay you for a bunch of norcos that I did not order. i understand you're proabably taking a huge loss, but would you mind reshiping my shatter, I have seriously no Idea what to do, but I can't keep these around me.. If you need proof I can upload what I was sent thru anony.ws. Really was looking forward to that shatter :/ "

Customer 2 ($900+ spent on order, registered 2 months ago, has done many deals with many vendors and has good feedback): "Hey man, for my norco order, I received what is believed to be your shatter, Not sure what;s going on, but I;m not scammer, as my buyer feedback speaks for itself.. Would any customers be loyal enough to step forward and say that received a bunch of norcos, or you think they;d take the come up? Don't want to open a dispute, just want my order reshipped. I can provide pics thru imgur of what I received today as well"

This reads like a "What Not to Do When Scamming a Darknet Market Vendor" manual

What a cunt, message the support of whatever DNM you vend on ASAP and let them know.

Anyone with an iq over 10 will take your side

If it wouldn't be such a nefarious idea, I'd tell both 'okay, I will take it back, ship it to ...' and then give each one the address of the other one.

See how/if they react. ;)

I don't understand this addictive nature criminals sought against vendors. This is the ONLY way we can get our drugs in the mail, and stupid people ARE RUINING IT!

[3 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

its a strange one, isn't it?

You need to send them each a stamped, addressed envelope , to send the unconsumed portion of the drugs to a customer who you trust, has a set of scales, and buys from you regularly.

When he receives the drugs, he can tell you how much of each was unconsumed. Then you can refund or reship to both customers, pro-rata.

If its one person or two mates trying to scam you, they won't have any left to post.

OR tell "each" of them that they are going to post it to a 3rd customer, but get them to post to each other. If both object its a scam. If only one (or neither) objects then its not.

Sometimes customers rely on a vendor not having a returns department to pull a fast one. This is where your favorite customers help you out.

I'd just like to point out to everyone that scams by customers are exceedingly rare. And over the course of time, you usually find out that it was one of your competitors who turned out to be a scam vendor.

Can confirm this is really done, but not usually such a mediocre execution.

[2 Points] KnightoftheLions:

definite scam attempt

[2 Points] turn_the_table:

They tryna get over...... Gotta turn the tables bro. Send them muthafuckas empty boxes ;D

Dude's keyboard is broken? Weird.

[1 Points] dikkkhead:

This is a most excellent scam, let down by poor execution..

You could try just asking both customers to send pics with EXIF data (GPS) still in them

This is not unreasonable considering you know who and where they are.

Assuming the two addresses are physically distant..

And they don't fake the EXIF ;)

[1 Points] jtemps92:

Whilst it's completely possible it was mistake, it just seems so much of a coincidence to be true. Like there's a huge difference there, between $40 worth of norcos and $900 worth of shatter/the other way round. It screams scam to me, even more so when the "second customer" basically straight out asked you if you'd had a message from anyone else saying they'd received some norcos. I know if I'd got a wrong order that wouldn't be the first thing to come into my head... I duno it just screams scam to me

[1 Points] None:

Right he has pics because he ordered both of the drugs. Its obviously him, duh. Should've of had a doubt. He's an idiot. He paid $900 tho for the norcos? He was just tryna get another $900 of norcos for free?

[0 Points] A_Stray_Fox:

Ask the first guy with a picture of the product with a spoon in the frame only.

Only after he sends it to you, make the same request with a different object to customer #2

You will now know if customer has an incorrect pack.

Assuming pictures are on the table still.

[0 Points] bobbiggs69:

Were both packs shipped in the same size packaging? You could prove this pretty easily if you shipped the smaller order in a smaller pack by having them take a photo.

[-1 Points] RosyPalm:

We've never made a mistake like this before and we've been vending for over 1 year, but mistakes happen so it is possible but unlikely.

Could be a scam, could be you messed up. I'd say no matter what the outcome, getting tighter control of your shipping so it isn't possible to send a bulk order of something to a personal amount buyer of something completely different should be a priority.

[-2 Points] watchyourface:

Looks like a scam to me. Either that or a lot of coincidences lining up. Regardless.. It appears you are running a fairly large operation so for future reference, you need to acknowledge that a mistake could have been made. Other then that, you MUST develop a shipping method that would allow you to 💯 verify what you shipped.
