Tor is building the next generation Dark Net with funding from DARPA

First off, this is just good Tor art.

The story:

DARPA is funding multiple projects focused on improving Tor's hidden services across "1-3 years," Tor's director of communications Kate Krauss told the Daily Dot via email. Tor declined to give more specifics on the grant, like its monetary value and terms, and DARPA didn't respond to a request for comment.

Roger Dingledine, Tor's project leader, pointed to a dozen projects over the last year that utilized DARPA's funding and investigation team assigned to address recent attacks on some of the Dark Net's most famous websites.

It's called the tor network, not the darknet. Even the tor developers said, anyone that uses the term 'darknet' is bad news. So please stop, it's a phrase used to ward people away from using anonymity software. If you mention tor, because of people like you, it already has a negative connotation. You're just making it worse...

These attacks, which started in March, targeted several hidden services with a simple-but-effective cyberattack that slowed the entire Tor network and took the sites offline for more than a week, inspiring no small amount of worry about the security of many Tor users. Some of the sites are still struggling to return to normalcy.

wait, so is it now confirmed there are actually attacks and not just "spillover from evo"? Is it possible that Evo didn't exit scam (at first) but was instead attacked, couldnt recover and then chose to run then??

heh, DARPA and Agora -- uneasy allies. It's Tinfoil Tuesday in a few hours, maybe DARPA is Agora :)

Good. I like Tor, most links are dead but given the right markets or a free for all market, it could be amazing.
