Hey, We finally finished our German survey (Europäische Online-Befragung zum Thema Drogen; European Web Survey on Drugs) that we also offered here and want to thank all those that took part in it. Further, we'd like to ask you a few questions about our procedure and would highly appreciate your individual opinion if you find the time to answer. We can learn for the future how to do those surveys in the DarkNet.
What conditions should a survey meet for you to want to take part?
for example: *1. How should a survey be placed for you to take part (e.g. separate .onion HSW, "clearweb")? *2. Which language(s) would be most convenient? *3. How should communication and contacts be offered? (PGP - RSA or DSA? Jabber? other?) *4. What else do you need to take part in a survey like that and what could we have done better? *5. In case you had a look at it (:-)), what did you think of the topics covered in the European Web Survey on drugs?
We appreciate any comment here. We're also happy to share our Public PGP key, E-Mail Address and/or Jabber with you.
Thank you guys a lot! Kind regards,
Alex (checkit!, Vienna)
I don't know what's with surveys and academics (or LE) wanting to mine the DNM for data but I'll give you guys a hint.
None of those questions are really relevant.
Here's one that might blow your mind.
You ready?
As in, what's in it for me for taking that survey? As it stands right now, answering a survey about a highly illegal type of activity a random user only has to lose his privacy, rights and whatever else there is by disclosing one's patterns.
Now if you incentivised the whole thing, say, transfer a small amount of BTC to those who answer then I would think you could get more. But even then, you're asking for open data in a place that is famed for being closed.
Just my 2c. Do whatever floats your boat.
