Wtf is an allergy test? (MXE)

Apologies in advance, because this is probably a stupid ass question. I just got my hands on some MXE, and I see in a lot of reviews and trip reports that people do "allergy tests" before diving in. I've tried to google this shit and search the sub, but I haven't found anything fruitful other than it usually involves bumping around 5 mg or so of the stuff.

Is there anything more involved to it than that? How do I know when I "pass"? How long should I wait before can I do my full dose? What sorts of reactions should I be looking out for doing this?

Planning on railing two 25 mg lines with about an hour or two in between the first time I do it if that makes a difference. I may end up not doing the second one it just depends. Pretty sure I've also convinced my "girlfriend" to do it with me as well which has me pretty stoked. Neither of us have ever done any sort of dissociative, but we're very comfortable with psychedelics and such. Thanks for any insight on this shit.

Pretty much doing a small dose to see if it's real. Better to use a reagent test but I found this on Bluelight

Whenever I get a compound I haven't tried before, I will have a very smal dose to test for any alergic reactions. I think this i good, safe practice Depending on the potency, I wil usually rub a small amount onto my gums. For example, I did my allergy test with 2C-D again about 2 hours ago- roughly 10mg on the gums (it burns it burns)- I'm not allergic. Woo! I guess its hard with certain drugs- I don't know how I'll do it with br-dfly for eample, but I will try to.

It literally means to test it to ensure you have no bad/allergic reaction to it. Usually it just consists of ingesting a small amount and letting your body absorb it. If you don't have any negative reactions after an hour (or more) you most likely will be fine to take more. This is what I have gathered from some of my time in /r/RCsources

Edit: changing "placing...on your tongue" to

Take the drug in mg increments and wait an hour or so to check if 1. You got the correct drug. Need I remind you of Montfort? 2. You don't have some freaky allergic reaction to it.

It's called an allergy test but really you're looking to check number one as well, which should be done in conjunction with a reagent test.
