Avoid using laptops with audio driver supplied by Conexant (Opsec)

We should all know by now that its a big opsec fail to access the DNMs over traditional OSs. Even so, out of commodity, many fail to follow this rule. Just to get an idea of how dangerous this practice is, have a look at this article:

Clearnet - https://arstechnica.com/security/2017/05/hp-laptops-covert-log-every-keystroke-researchers-warn/ -

So not only that everything is logged but its also stored UNENCRYPTED on the local drive. Wtf...

Keep in mind that 99% of the laptops and even desktops come preloaded with a shitload of bloatware which logs/monitors and transmits the data collected.

TAILS is your best friend.

Stallman warned us and everybody laughed. It's funny, but also very serious https://youtu.be/4JJfdWXSOHE

Good tip for the community. Use Tails, my friends.

Very interesting

It's likely just a debug function that was never removed though. In terms of opsec I'd be more worried about the webserver in your Intel CPU and the javascript engine in your Microsoft security software.

Pretty friggin' hard to have 100% security these days, but if you're DNM-ing on a mainstream OS you're doing it wrong anyway, Conexant malware or no.

so, should I wipe my hard drive soon?

copy file name. delete file. create new file in notepad. save file as file name. right click on file. goto properties. make file read-only, system file. fixed.
