Such a noob. I've spent the last 24 hours trying to load VirtualBox and TAILS to a USB. Failing. And I only have a mac to work with.

Can someone, anyone, that has better mac literacy help me with a step-by-step? I want to run Vbox and TAILS from my USB but I'm running into all sorts of errors, and for some reason my endless Googling isn't coming up with answers. I can't even manage to run Vbox as an app off my USB without an error message, let alone TAILS. Thank you, thank you in advance. I don't know wtf I'm doing wrong here and it's crushing me.

Drop the vm. Just use tails. If you were using whonix, you could use a vm, but tails is better without a vm. You should be able to find some good instructions on how to mount tails on a USB in many places. Good luck. Tails and electrum both kicked my ass until I realized what was going wrong (sometimes it was out of my control).

Also I had trouble mounting tails on a USB my Mac for some reason. Try putting it on a disc and then run the disc and use tails installer for the drive. Hope this helps.

You will have to install manually to a USB. I had no trouble on my mac but haven't figured out how to do a persistent partition on the USB. https://tails.boum.org/doc/first_steps/installation/manual/mac/index.en.html
