An old friend who introduced me to this forum passed away today

This is my first post, and probably my only. A friend of mine who got me interested in all things internet, including this forum, passed away today. By no means was he a well known name in this community, but he supported many of the ideals this forum represents. He was a good guy without a mean word to be said.

Moderation is not something I often find in the discussions here, but should not be overlooked. Enjoy your fun, support your causes and defend your rights. Just be smart about it, death never furthers any of those things. If anyone here ever find themselves, or knows someone, who could use some support(an ear, or some help material etc), just know its here. There is no shame in acknowledging when a recreational activity becomes a required activity.

Edit: thank you all for your positive support.

Edit: In an effort to respect his family, and an inability to obtain certain details about the substance in question, I cant get anymore specific. Again, thank everyone for your encouragement. I like the idea for a support or education thread. It would prove useful to several people and may prevent another loss.

Edit: Thank you for the gold, and thank you to all who have posted here. Today has been a dim day and these posts have been very uplifting and encouraging. To those who choose to salute with a drink I thank you, and to those who have chosen to take a break I thank you. I shared this with a member of his family who I thought would understand and she conveys her thanks and a message of caution and support to others who may be struggling. I hope that others do not have to experience a loss like this, and I will support any effort to help those who have lost their grip.

Condolences. It doesn't matter whether he was well known. He was one of us.

RIP. Thanks for this post. Lets pour one out and spark one up for him.

[20 Points] GrandWizardsLair:

May your friend find peace and may you find peace.

[14 Points] pink_guy:

sorry for your loss. It wouldn't hurt to have a weekly thread dedicated for people to talk about their habits or at least guide people to find the proper help they need.

[9 Points] the_flower_is_happy:

May his soul rest in peace. Love you brother!

[3 Points] STB_KING:

I can relate as being an opioid addict. One hell of a hole I've dug myself, but I can say these past few weeks have been going well. Lope has helped immensly while tapering off of suboxone.

RIP to your buddy, another one lost to the good fight.

[3 Points] L0rd_V1shnu:

May your friend find everlasting peace and rest. I'm so sorry for your loss. I actually OD'd a couple days ago, and if it wasn't for my fiancee coming home early from work, it would have been me too.

[2 Points] SecondChanceUsername:

I agree with OP, there's no shame, and for the most part you can trust people will give you either genuine good advice that may help you immensely(I've received such advice from anonymous DN users) OR the advice we give each other is overly sarcastic its obvious the person is just trolling. We're all very nonjudgmental people as a whole. I believe people who frequent this forum and others, and the hidden forums are among the least judgmental, most open-minded and all around genuine people. Theres a lot of people who care a lot, they care enough to give and get nothing in return in order to help others whom all they know about is their username and what they have chosen to reveal. You & his loved ones have my sympathy mate. I moved out of the big city to the country a few years ago to get away from daily heroin use that had spiraled well out of control, and was doing well for a few years. But with DNM's the heroin can come to me. So I'm back in the middle of it again. The markets are both a blessing and a curse, much like the products they peddle. We've all gotta be careful.

[2 Points] Chilled_DNM:

Sorry for your loss, man. Take care and don't resort to drastic measures.

RIP.

[2 Points] TORonionPGP:

Thanks for the share, OP! As an addict this post has inspired me to take a break from certain drugs although I am not physically addicted right now. I am using heroin once or twice a week, but I know even that is far too much for me. RIP to your friend, and "keep your heads up" to all of my fellow addicts. Remember that even if you don't love yourself--there is someone who does.

[2 Points] Thameswater:

RIP brother, we'll continue to fight for you

[2 Points] Canna-Juice:

Sorry to hear. Our condolences.

[2 Points] 2piradians:

I'm really sorry.

[1 Points] PM_ME_VAGINA_PICS:

Harm reduction is a very common theme amongst reddit drug forums, this is a forum designated to sourcing, it makes sense we wouldn't talk about moderation. All that being said RIP

[1 Points] krunch7328:

We got together today and lit a nice padron cigar and toasted his memory. Thanks again for all the support! Stay strong my friends
