i've seen more than a few posts about it and i'm wondering what that means. do they not have access to their pgp? are they scammers?
What does it mean if a vendor asks for Privnote?

Like seraphim said they shouldn't ask you to use privnote over PGP, with that being said I've used Privnote plenty of times and I like it inspecting the source shows it doesn't save the notes anywhere and if you contact support about a destroyed note their response is always "Sorry notes aren't saved only the person who opened it can resend it."
But most likely a scammer if they don't have a pgp option

Privnote is a bullshit excuse for encrypted communication.
I don't accept orders placed using Privnote and I never use it.
Not only are you trusting a 3rd party with your secrets, but it requires java script to function properly.

Like CT6 said, there is no reason to use privnote over PGP. As a matter of fact, I'd look at it as a red flag and avoid said vendor

it means they're idiots

r/darknetmarketsnoobs is a more appropriate place for this post. Thank you, and please read the side bar. Have a great night.
There is literally no legitimate reason for a vendor to use this other than they are incompitent and lack a grasp on using and the importance of pgp encryption. Asking buyers to trust their personal info with an unknown third party is poor form and that vendor should be avoided at all cost.
Another reason they might ask for messages this way is because they are scammers and don't want market admin to see messages when the buyer goes to dispute.
Use pgp encryption for any and all sensitive info. Message vendors on the market and don't encrypt chit-chat so that a market admin can review communications in case of a dispute. Stay away from vendors who ask otherwise.
