what would the AB server specs been?

I know shit fuck all about servers but i'm going to be studying it all in the future at a recognised educational institution.

Just wondering what kind of specs these servers would have

  1. how many servers do you think they had?
  2. what functions are devided between the servers and what would each have in terms of ram, cpu and hdd space? 3.would each server be like a tiny tray space on a server rack?

Why not just check out information on prior markets that have died? You should probably check out that one show that shows the pirate bays cave servers, pretty sure it's on YouTube.

I've been in the IT field for a while now. Tor is a very slow network, so the servers aren't actually under as much load as a clearnet site with the same traffic. Though I'm sure with how much money these markets rake in, they weren't afraid to go a little overboard with their servers.

It's a good question, but frankly there is no way to answer it. You might get lucky and see some footage in news videos or perhaps it mentioned in the trial.

3-5 virtual servers, 2 front end web servers load balanced with a reverse proxy (all nginx) for connecting to tor. 1 mysql DB server maybe replicating, but more than likely just scheduled back-ups. DB would be about ~100GB, the front ends 20GB, proxy 20GB.

Cant tell u how many cores or memory, but in cloud world thats bought as needed.

I dare say their BTC processing server may be a little more beefed up and be their 'baby' that they keep and spend most of their time/rersources on. May even be physical.
