BTC value dropped between ordering and finalize...should I offer to make up difference?

Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just honestly wondering since I try my best to maintain a good buyer relationship with my favorite vendors and especially this one. Anyway so I placed an order earlier this week while BTC was around the 580 mark and now that I've received the item and finalized the value has dropped. For what I ordered alone the value has dropped close to $10.

I have the BTC in wallet and it's not a big deal, so should I message the vendor and offer to make up the difference or just let it be since it's a small amount? Or would the vendor potentially get sketched out by this? I don't FE by principle but I don't want the vendor to actually lose money just for that principle.

Nature of the business. If they stay in the game long enough, they'll make up the difference. You don't owe them.

Would you expect them to refund you money if the value of btc rose during that time?

[2 Points] InfinitelyOutThere:

nope. Thats the risk vendors take. How many times do you think btc rose while a vendor was waiting for finalization?

The word should is not a word to apply in this situation. You can but you are under no obligation, ethically or compulsory to do so. As others have said, the vendor knew the risks, and will be able to make up for it in the future, and if not, then that vendor probably should not be vending.

That said, you might gain some benefit in a future transaction, especially if this is not a big vendor that you're working with. If you believe that you can derive more value in a future transaction from your kind gesture than what it would cost you in opportunity cost, then I highly suggest that you do so.

The vendor knows it happens. Plus it will go back up more than likely so if he lets them sit a while it will make up for itself and maybe more.

In the end, we all take a risk using BTC as currency, but I think most of us expect that the value of BTC will inevitably go up in the future.

no, fuck em.

That would be very kind of you. I would do it, being I'm a caring person. I gave someone 5 bucks in btc just so they could make their order. I would have gladly given more. Plus good karma.
