Dec 13th: DEA proposes emergency scheduling of 7 new fentanyl analogs.

The DEA has proposed the emergency scheduling of seven new fentanyl analogs on the 13th of December.

The new fentanyl analogs to be banned in about 30 days are the following.

SUMMARY: The Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is issuing this notice of intent to publish a temporary order to schedule seven fentanyl-related substances in schedule I. These seven substances are: N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)- N-phenylpentanamide (valeryl fentanyl), N-(4-fluorophenyl)- N-(1-phenethylpiperidin- 4-yl)butyramide (para-fluorobutyryl fentanyl), N-(4-methoxyphenyl)- N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)butyramide (para-methoxybutyryl fentanyl), N-(4-chlorophenyl)- N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)isobutyramide (para-chloroisobutyryl fentanyl), N-(1-phenethylpiperidin- 4-yl)-N- phenylisobutyramide (isobutyryl fentanyl), N-(1-phenethylpiperidin-4-yl)- N-phenylcyclopentane carboxamide (cyclopentyl fentanyl), and N-(2-fluorophenyl)- 2-methoxy-N-(1-phenethylpiperidin- 4-yl)acetamide (ocfentanil). This action is based on a finding by the Administrator that the placement of these seven synthetic opioids in schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to the public safety. When it is issued, the temporary scheduling order will impose the administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions and regulatory controls applicable to schedule I controlled substances under the CSA on the manufacture, distribution, reverse distribution, possession, importation, exportation, research, and conduct of instructional activities, and chemical analysis of these synthetic opioids.

You might say "Good! I'm glad they did. Get rid of that shit!", but that would be illogical, because drug prohibition is a failed scheme that will continue to fail and completely unsafe, totally dangerous fentanyl analogs will continue to proliferate under a regime of prohibition. Prohibition is the problem. We need drug legalization now. It's the only thing that will stop these deaths. Who would use a new dangerous fentanyl analog in an unknown dosage if they could buy pure heroin at a drug store? Nobody. The problem is solvable, but government policy makers are totally unwilling to solve it.

I love your conclusions.

If heroin was legal somehow, the fents doesn't need to be there at all. But its cutted with fent because then less heroin is needed? And fent is very potent per milligram, easier to smuggle.

Like all the substitutes for LSD that truly sucks as nbome25x (x =all the types) and others, could have died out and LSD who is a safer drug can stay.

And all these marijuana synthetic substitutes who kills people could have been gone when natural marijuana becomes legal.

People are going to take the drugs no matter what. Better legalize the less dangerous ones out there.

Nonsense. Complete and utter horseshit. Go ask /r/opiates what their opiate of choice is. I doubt you'll find a single soul who will tell you fentanyl. It's a shitty high and short acting. Zero euphoria. Nobody would actively seek that shit out. If they legalized every abused drug in the world, fentanyl would still be illegal and it should be illegal given that it can kill in amounts you can barely see with your eye. If I can kill over 100 people with what I can carry around in a tiny vial, that shit is a biological weapon, full stop. End of discussion.

Not all drugs are created the same, and not all drugs are equal; this isn't a black and white issue, it's infinite shades of gray. Life itself isn't black and white so living in that mindset is foolish.
