Silk Road - Eileen Ormsby

"Drugs on the darknet" by James Martin is excellent. He's one of the finest criminologists researching DNMs. He takes a nuanced and critical approach, and the only downside to the book is that it's a bit old by now (published in 2014). If you're interested in Tor, the darknet, encryption and politics the collection "Crypto anarchy, cyberstates and pirate utopias" is also a good read. If you'd like to get what was going through DPR's head before he built SR you should read "Alongside night" by Schulman. It's sci-fi and when you read it the pieces will fall into place. My own theory is that DPR was smoking a good sativa, read the book and then came up with SR.

I think you should read Flash Boys. It's not DNM-related, but it's about the use of new technology in Wall Street and how people try to use it to fuck other people over. It's by the author of the book that inspired the movie The Big Short.

I was expecting OP to say something closer to the effect of 'which now makes an an expert on ...'
Pleasantly surprised.

I can't happen here by Upton Sinclair. Very tangentially related

I really recommend "The Mastermind" from Atavist magazine. It's available online for free: https://magazine.atavist.com/the-mastermind
It's the story of Paul Le Roux the presumed author of TrueCrypt. He also became rich with online drug trafficking. I don't want too spoil too much, You'll like it.

This isn't really related to Silk Road but if you're looking for a fun read, check out American Desperado by Jon Roberts and Evan Wright
(saw that it's already recommended... but I independently recommend it, it's really good)
American desperado
