[35 Points] Overmind_Rewind:

Yea because we all know how reliable screenshots are.

or all of it just fiction?

Pretty sure this whole sub is just fiction, but don't quote me on it.

Anyone who's subbed here on their main account is just here for amusement, it's better than the various drama subs.

I'd assume anyone who actually uses the darknet is also using Tor for reddit.

This comment has been overwritten by an open source script to protect this user's privacy. It was created to help protect users from doxing, stalking, harassment, and profiling for the purposes of censorship.

If you would also like to protect yourself, add the Chrome extension TamperMonkey, or the Firefox extension GreaseMonkey and add this open source script.

Then simply click on your username on Reddit, go to the comments tab, scroll down as far as possible (hint:use RES), and hit the new OVERWRITE button at the top.

Makes me want to set up bait reddit accounts with shitty opsec and send fake drug packs through the mail to houses that're for sale (and without any residents) to see if LE really gives a damn about the little fish.

[1 Points] aboutthednm:

Absolutely.

If your computer gets nabbed, it's fairly trivial to figure this out.

Someone watching you that has no idea who you are? Now that's harder. But in any case, it will absolutely count as evidence in any trial.

I, for one, am certainly making shit. I'm making that shit directly out of my ass.

most deferentially can be brought up to the judge with screen shots and such and ips...YES thats why u allways be super carefull on here

Ask /u/gwern.

[1 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

I've never heard of reddit posts being used in court as evidence, but they have been used by LE to jail criminals.

An example is our blockchain analysis of sheep marketplace, coupled with gwern's doxx of it's owner. Hungarian police knew who to look at, which exchange to find him using, and then worked backwards through bitcoinfog all the way back to money being deposited in sheepmarketplace wallets.

$200 million, one of the largest thefts in history, caught because of our work on this sub. WE are heros on this sub, and the world could watch us in real time on the blockchain. The work we did here was in every paper and news outlet, I was avoiding sleep, getting square eyes from clicking the red arrows on blockchain.info, and I used to read reddit PMs back then. I even had an interview request from the Wall St Journal.

During a marketplace exit, reddit becomes very noisy and stupid, so its difficult for LE to know who actually knows something and who is just talking shit.

I feel that Defcon's arrest may have had some reddit influence, but it never seems to be users implicating THEMSELVES in crime. Obviously, LE don't give a fuck about you DNM customers and your "pack". You;re just paranoid kids with a guilty concience, your sense of proportion distorted by the early onset of your cannabis consumption. You make throwaways to talk about throwaways!

Bwaaaak bwack bwack bwack

Evidence or not, remember that one of DPR's basic mistakes was to use an email directly linked to him when he was researching what he would need to do to launch Silk Road. Wasn't doing anything illegal at the time, but later on they were able to follow the electronic trail and establish his RL ID.

[1 Points] 2CandyVendor:

No because this subreddit is 100% fictional.

[1 Points] dabber_don:

Reddit can be subpoenaed for your name, email, and IP address and can use posts as evidence like others have said. The good news is that it looks like Reddit will warn you before they hand over information and they have not had many requests for information compared to other social media sites.

You know how in Microsoft word there is a thing you can do to automatically change every use of a certain word to another word? What if, (still have no idea if this is even possible btw) there could be some setting in the code of the subreddit which automatically displayed pronouns as SWIM and SWIY for security purposes. Then all users of the sub could download a browser extension not explicitly mentioned in the sidebar or acknowledged by mods, but discussed discreetly in comments and posts in such a way new users may find it. The extension would then convert SWIM and SWIY back into proper pronouns for readability, and to accurately know which pronoun, the extension could obtain that data from the person who made the post since they would also be using the extension. And finally, to prevent law enforcement from being able to directly translate SWIM to me or I, the extension would occasionally make mistakes, as well as automatically replace SWIM with I even when SWIM was legitimately what the user typed.
