A Fairbanks man was charged with felony drug misconduct this week after he took delivery of 126 grams of Ecstasy shipped to him from the Netherlands.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents discovered the drugs Aug. 22 after they opened a suspicious package at a U.S. Postal Service facility in San Francisco. The package, which did not have a tracking number and was addressed to Dontell Rashad Jones in Fairbanks, contained 487 green Ecstasy tablets in the shape of a ghost, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday.

The Ecstasy was then shipped through secure channels to investigators with the Fairbanks office of the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit, who repackaged it and arranged a controlled delivery to Jones' 26th Avenue address. Jones was found with the opened package shortly after it was delivered, according to the complaint.

Ecstasy is a Schedule I federally controlled substance with stimulant and hallucinogenic effects. It sells for $20 to $40 a tablet and the street value of the drugs shipped to Jones is approximately $15,000, according to the complaint.

Jones is charged with felony second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. At the time of his arrest, Jones was under conditions of release for fourth-degree assault, according to the complaint.

Employees with the Anchorage office of the Postal Service and the Anchorage office of the Department of Homeland Security participated in the investigation.

These kinds of post freak everyone out but you have to think how many bulk packs are actually successfully getting threw. I do not know for sure but i would say at least 100 or more bulk packs make it threw the border everyday and you only see like one of these stories every week. So the chances of getting your delivery are very high. This dumb dumb messed up by shipping the shit directly to his house. It only takes one pack to be found to mess your life up.

What evidence does LE have on this guy? Just that he opened the pack, there is no discussions on other opsec faults like unclean apartment and other shit. Is this going to be a successful prosecution?

This is why you don't order over 100gs without a drop.

open your pack, see it's 13 pills light and to add insult to injury next moment you have a gun in your face. what a shitty day.

The Fairbanks man accused of getting $15,000 worth of ecstasy shipped to his home from the Netherlands was arraigned today (WED) in Fairbanks Superior Court.

Dontell Jones, 27, pleaded "not guilty" to two counts of Misconduct involving a controlled substance.

According to charging documents, a homeland security special agent notified the U.S. Customs of a postal service parcel containing ecstasy pills from the Netherlands.

A controlled delivery was made to Jones; and after the package was opened, a search warrant was used to seize the 487 tablets.

Jones' next court date is set for September 20th.
