You can always install tails, though you will have to always boot it with a disk and a USB for persistence.

I didn't know it wasn't recommended. I use a Mac and haven't had any issues.

I use macs. I bought a shitty laptop for $20 on Craigslist.
Just look for ones without hard drives or ram or something, those are the cheap ones. Get a USB boot TAILS and put some RAM in the laptop.

What I do is get a cheap ass laptop just for DNMs, always use public wifi, buy bitcoins anonymously by cash deposits and keep it hidden outside my apt in a water proof bag in a spot where no one can find it. If I feel the heat I can simply destroy it and spend another $90 dollars getting another one. No TAILS or anything, just TOR. Also I always use gloves when handling that laptop and never login to any of the fake DNM emails, and accounts I made on my home wifi or gaming PC. None of the accounts I use on that laptop have ever had a trace inside my apt. In fact I don't even think it's been inside my place ever.

I have a mac and it sucks! How do you encrypt messages on a mac?
I have the public key from my 'friend' so how do I use that key to make an encrypted message. GPG keychain makes you use your email...wtf? this is confusing. it seems less complicated on a pc.

Macs are appliances not computers.
Essentially because a lot of information on macs is stored by apple. It's also not an os based on security, but rather interface. Someone can probably give you a more detailed explanation than that though.
