I was successfully able to use Electrum with Tor in the past. Now have been trying to use Electrum through Tor (in Tails if that matters, but I don't think so) and I can't connect using:
./electrum -s 56ckl5obj37gypcu.onion:50001:t -p socks5:localhost:9050
From what little I have been able to figure out, it seems to Electrum hidden service at 56ckl5obj37gypcu.onion:50001 is down.
I can connect with:
./electrum -p socks5:localhost:9050
Which AFAIK connects to the non-hidden services using the usual Tor exit relays.
Does anyone know of any other active Electrum hidden service to use? Couldn't find any other online.
What are the risks of connecting through regular, non-hidden servers? Does it leak your wallet address (so someone could see your wallet has been used through TOR), even if it's a SSL one?
If you have SSL selected in the Network panel, you should be safe from eavesdroppers seeing your wallet addresses.
