Sending with USPS arriving with UPS

Is it possible that per say, a package from the US goes out as with USPS but once it reaches the first city in the country of arrival it transfers to UPS?

Doesnt usps Stand for US postal service, and ups for united postal service?

That's unusual. If you ordered internationally then usually it would be EMS or DHS. Then it would go to USPS, normally.

yes it's called smartpost. they have contracts with eachother to help cut down on costs by giving eachother mail going to certain locations where one might have more employees/infrastructure than the other. it's also stupid because this could end up with your mail being re-routed to several different states as a "Tag along" package just going for the ride until it gets to you.

it's a very cheap shipping option that usually takes the longest amount of time. so it saves on shipping costs for you, if you don't mind waiting 10+ days for a peice of mail that would have taken 2 or 3 days if the sender just sent it priority mail instead for a couple extra bucks.

nothing unusual at all. it just means that whoever sent it chose the cheapest shipping option available. if they charged you like $15 for shipping, I would complain.

Most of the mail in USA that is shipped via priority mail, including express, is handled into the sorting system, then once it's at the airport usually bums a ride with UPS and FedEx planes to get to the destination before it is sorted back into the facilities USPS owns for delivery.
