Subreddit suggestion: Bitcoineries

Since we already have a list of tumbling services in the sidebar, why not add a list of (currently) trustworthy/reliable/cheap/fast channels through which one may buy and/or sell bitcoins.

It'd clear a lot of confusion up and reduce the number of obligatory "where do I go to get bitcoin" threads that pop up on the daily. I think it'd be a useful feature, at least. I don't know if anyone agrees.

Power through community, and so forth.

Edit: based on the number of mentions and net upvotes, the most popular options for procuring bitcoins at the current time would be:

1. Coinbase

2. LocalBitcoins

3. CoinRnr

4. Bitstamp

great idea. lets aggregate a list right here.

I use coinbase, LBC, btc-brokers, and local bitcoin vendors personally.

Please, chime in with services! :)

A short list of crypto coin exchanges, for manual tumbling. (I did this for the first time yesterday, and it turned out the total process took about a little less than 1% of my bitcoins.)

  1. Btc-e.com
  2. Bter.com
  3. Coinex.pw
  4. Vircurex.com
  5. Mcxnow.com
  6. poloniex.com
  7. Cryptsy.com
  8. Coins-e.com

These are organized by approximate user base size. I especially don't recommend #8 as nobody uses it right now, & many people have a grudge against #7.

Also, all of these websites do require Javascript to be running :(

There is a valid reason for the Javascript, as the user interface and speed of some of these services are fast.

Biased advice: coinex (looks pretty!) and b-ter are the best!

Australia - https://spendbitcoins.com.au/quick-buy/

They have a fairly high commission rate of 7.5% but i have bought from them 3 times before all came threw within the hour of deposit. They do seem to have a fair high exchange rate but if you read the terms on their side bar you can see why. I would like to try some new sites also to buy from in the future in Australia, if anyone knows any good ones.

In New Zealand I have used coined.co.nz about 4 times and localbitcoins.com once

coinrnr.com, while a bit expensive, is super fast and easy. Deposit cash at any local bank (no ID required), upload a photo of the receipt, and it's in my wallet within 15 minutes.

Info on what bitcoin buying/tumbling sites are most convenient for Australians would be helpful.

Is coin.mx legit?

Can anyone comment on cash-in-mail services like on LBC, they seem like they would be easy honeypots to locate vendors in known cities, should i not use them?
