Why the fuck is AlphaBay still more popular than Hansa/DHL? Why won't people migrate?

Slightly drunk so if anything is incoherent I apologize. I think I've made enough posts here to prove I'm not some shill.

So yeah... Title question. What the fuck? I legitimately don't understand this at all. I get that AlphaBay has been around for a while so it has the most variety of products and most potential customers but still, is migration so hard?

Every other fucking day someone makes a complaint about the shittiness of the support system, major vendors, small-time vendors and buyers alike. I cannot personally attest to this myself, but when vendors as big as Pelican are complaining, isn't this a cause for concern?

And then there's the payment system they use. ABSOLUTE FUCKING GARBAGE. It takes HOURS for coin to deposit, and oftentimes by that time the value has dropped and you're fucked. DHL (okay someone inform me, is it still open registration as of today?) and Hansa have safe, smooth-as-silk transactions that don't force you to come back 10 hours later, hoping your coin has finally deposited. You order, you pay, and your work is done within 15 minutes.

And after saying all this, I STILL use AlphaBay, albeit as sparingly as possible. Why? Because almost all of the most fire deals are there (especially in regards to weed). Because it's the only place I can cop 2C-B and affordable ketamine. But why? Why can't vendors open up shop on better markets like Hansa and DHL? Clearly there's demand, why stick SOLELY to such a sketchy, frustratingly designed marketplace?

Momentum and the feedback loop. B/c AB has been around so long and thus has the advantage of building its user base, its own momentum carries it forward. And the feedback loop - AB has the most vendors and therefore the most buyers, which encourages new vendors to join AB since it has the largest customer base, which in turn, further builds the customers. Its a near-monopoly in some sense. Like any other business with no competitor in its class, it takes a lot to take them down and for competitors to make a dent.

But this ecosystem also has the disadvantage of exit scamming. Nothing around here is absolutely trustworthy but thus far, AB hasn't exit scammed. They've built up some form of trust. When AB goes down unexpectedly, the fear of them exit scamming isn't as strong as it would be for a newer market. Nothing is forever and one day AB will go down and not come back up. But longevity means a lot around here.

A competitor needs to come in and not just replicate what AB is doing. They need to think more revolutionary and offer something truly compelling. Until then, competitors will have a hard time taking any meaningful business from AB.

A few reasons

AB has much more available than DHL - I have never used Hansa, but DHL is for OG vendors who have gained trust. I use it for certain vendors who only work there, but AB is still #1 IMO, I still like escrow and most vendors who I use on DHL are direct-pay now. I like the layout of DHL better, but the number of products available is a fraction of what AB has

Have a presence on all of them.

AB has more customers. Period. Hate the interface for vending, but it accounts for 80+% of sales.

Hansa is smooth as silk. Some people are confused or put off by 2-3 multisig, but its a nice thing knowing I can recover funds if they dip. Order management and flow is great. Support is phenomenal, vendor and website bug/issues.

DHL Super smooth vendor interface, getting better daily now with all the enhancements.
Different customer base, we are comfortable DD'ing with each other, etc. less noobs, less drama.

If customers move to something else, vendors will follow or are already there...

My coins have always been in my wallet within 30 - 45 mins on alpha and by then its only ever gone down by 1 pound or gone up by1 pound never really a problem I feel like people stick to what they know

[2 Points] rocketmantastic-:

Probably because a lot of us have never had a problem with AlphaBay, that's why we continue to use it. All of the stories do kind of deter me a bit, but at the end of the day, they offer a lot of products and I always get what I order...

It is a matter of time.

I dunno, I love Hansa's wallet schema or whatever. Even wehn you don't do multisig you get to send the exact amount, I hate leaving coins behind.

[1 Points] TrueGodEater:

Why would i migrate? I have never had a single issue caused by alphabay.

When I got into DNM's, the price and usability from a customer perspective were above the other places. so until I have a bad experience or start seeing better prices with same customer protection on other markets, why change?

[-1 Points] VeronicaMonica:

Ill go as far as to say that I am actually shocked that AB is still around. With so many sketchy things going on at AB and being the most popular DNM, I thought FOR SURE AB was going to go down, just like previous top dog markets like Abraxas and Agora.

Like you mentioned, AB as a whole blows. I mean there are great selections of vendors and good deals but I am still convinced that AB is going to go down any day now.

FME, the longer the market stays alive, the more likely it will either exit scam or go down unexpectedly and never seen again. Kind of like playing jenga; sooner or later, everything is going to all come down. But AB is still around and still the most popular DNM as of today. Like, wtf. Whats is AB doing differently than previous #1 most popular DNM. I don't know but I stopped using AB because of all of the complaints and sketchy claims by the users.

I think DHL has an open registration as of today. Usually when you click on to register it tells you that you need an invite but when I clicked today it took me straight to the registration page. I could be wrong but it's worth a try.
