Tor Devs: Tor doesn't have funding for improving the security of hidden services. SR2 (27% marketshare) made $300k/mo in commissions.

*Who benefits most $$$ from hidden services, DNM operators. Bitcoin donations to Tor devs to further hidden service development = $0. *

Also, it's important to note that Tor currently doesn't have funding for improving the security of hidden services. If you are interested in funding hidden services research and development, please get in touch with us. We hope to find time to organize a crowdfunding campaign to acquire independent and focused hidden service funding.

Yeah. Donating to tor is feeling pretty good.

[15 Points] Vespco:

Why don't we put "Tor donating Marketplaces" on top and encourage their use? Such marketplaces can prove it by splitting each payment into a donation to Tor.

[7 Points] ZeldaAddict:

How much do they need to have such funding? Is there a ballpark figure?

[8 Points] tossaway007:

they should setup a kick starter or something, im sure it would generate some big $, probably a good chunk from outside the us

If Darknet Markets start donating to Tor, then a good portion of the Tor budget will become funded by proceeds of crime (no matter how much you tumble, a large influx of bitcoins will be seen as suspicious).

It could end up doing more harm than good.

[2 Points] Gabralkhan:

I don't think random individual donations to TOR project will bring a lot of money, there is probably something bigger to imagine.

Perhaps under the form of "TOR users defense association" or something like that to at least be able to raise funds properly and centralize a participation of DNMs to TOR Project funding.

An emphasize should be done also on the DNMs that give perhaps 1% of commision to TOR Project...

I think it is probably time that the community become more proactive, DNMs admins and TOR Project can't do everything alone without the help of the community at this point, and if the community want that this help matters and is usefull it needs to be organized for sure.

Lighthouse by Mike Hearn needs to get functional, yo!

Also maybe we should look into doing a dominant assurance contract.

Does tor accept pull requests?
