VPN is on router, Should I not use it before connecting to TOR? Have heard that VPN + Tor is less secure. Who can weigh in on this one with more than a feeling about it or speculation.

I have a router than runs VPN software, therefore any device that connects to the router will be behind the VPN. I have read many contrasting accounts on VPN + TOR. I use the VPN on the router so all of my devices will be not usingthe IP given to me by my ISP. I was wondering if I should create a separate network for just using TOR so it's not VPN + TOR. I know that with the current setup my ISP would see VPN, my VPN would see exit node of tor. WHat about if i'm connecting only to hidden services? How is VPN + TOR less secure ?

You don't need a vpn before tor, just use a free obfs4 bridge

Essentially you need to choose between whether you trust your real IP and all your internet traffic to go through a third party company who could potentially have the keys to unlock the encryption the VPN implements, or use a tor bridge given by a non profit organisation with a proven track record in providing privacy even for the most nefarious of individuals.
