[GeneralQuestions] Can a lab identify MXE in powder?

So theoretically, if someone was caught with Methoxamine by the police would there be any way for the officer to prove it is what it is? With the help of a lab? Have a friend who got caught with some and is waiting for the results from the place it was sent off to to be tested.

Thanks

Analytical chemist here. Yes, simple GC/MS identification. Takes 35 minutes and some mouse clicks and is fully admissable in court, as mass-spectrums are unique to each compound. The GC/MS software contains a database (NIST11 for drugs) with known mass-spectrums and does a simple comparison. All you have to do is put a few mg in methanol or other organic solvent and run it.
