[PSA/Article] PLEASE STOP ABBREVIATING VENDOR NAMES

Person 1: "Warning! GBJC Scammed me! Stay away!"

Person 2: "oooh this GangsterBillyJockCrotch has bangin prices! lemme just search reddit to see if any of my brethren have been scammed by him" searches GangsterBillyJockCrotch 2 results pop up, both being faked reviews by Mr. JockCrotch himself saying how amazing his product is. But no fuckin scam posts pop up because PERSON 1 POSTED ONLY GBJC SO NOW PERSON 2 GETS FUCKIN SCAMMED CUZ PERSON FUCKING 1 WAS TOO DAMN LAZY TO WRITE A FEW EXTRA LETTERS AND WANTED TO BE COOL AND FIT IN WITH ALL THE OTHER ABBREVIATING SHITS.

Please don't be Person 1.

Aside from the example above, you also hurt the potential buzz of a good vendor by only abbreviating his name so that half of the people don't even know who you're hyping up.

The whole point of this community is to help each other stay safe and informed. Thanks to this place, i've never been ripped off or negatively impacted by the DNM's. Every purchase has been a success and that is AMAZING. And it's 100% due to the information spread about on this subreddit. So if you're posting on this subreddit I have to assume you would like to contribute positively and help others stay informed and it just makes it that much easier when everyone knows who you're talking about. Bottom line is abbreviating helps the bad vendors and hurts the good vendors which is the exact opposite of what this community is all about.

To users against what OP said:

Even if you are right and the dangers addressed could be avoided with some research, what the fuck do you win using abbreviations? Even if the potential harm is low, what is the potential earning? Saving some letters? Give me a break.

"Fuck noobs getting scammed, I don't have time to write Blue Viking"

PS: Even if you aren't a noob, it'd be nice to have all the information of a vendor with one search instead of two.

[10 Points] M-ufrombb:

Excellent point, OP. Worth noting, when a scammer adopts a name very similar to that of a legit vendor, the abbreviation will always work to the benefit of the scammer.

I vote this gets stickied for a day. Come on now, that happens a lot tbh. I didn't even think about it til he said something and hes right. That shit fucking sucks.

[4 Points] DrQuarters_:

I'm fine with going by DrQ, if anyone cares

But HoV and BV have the best LSD.

It also makes it hard to search for vendors on DNM's. Say you hear about awesome vendor SBB. Who is that? Finally you figure out it's Super Speed Brothers. Okay. Now go find them on Agora. Is it "SuperSpeedBrothers"? "Super Speed Brothers"? "SuperSpeedBros"? What?

[3 Points] None:

If you search a vendor, ie GangsterBillyJockCrotch, and find nothing on him, and then buy from him, you're an idiot. This is not the fault of people who abbreviate vendor names, this is the fault of an idiot buying from someone with zero research.

If you find nothing on their name, ask around, or keep searching (such as looking at their abbreviation) until you do.

We can't stop people like you from being stupid and giving their money away with no escrow. Even if they were a scammer, all you had to do was use escrow properly.

Literally the DNM system is set up so you cannot fuck it up. Thankfully, we can tell who the idiots are because they are the ones who still get scammed.

There's a few scams that are excusable (I'm not even sure I'd call tony76 excusable, big sale coming around and sudden changes in seller policy?) - SR1 (not a scam obviously), Sheep, Lucydrop. But things like Festigear, SR2? Your fault.

There are tons of people here who have used the DNMs for years and have never been scammed once. Then there are kids who get scammed over and over.

Just like in real life. There are players who know the game, and then there's those kids who just get scammed over and over.

That said I always include both the abbreviation and non-abbreviation of a vendor's name in any post or review so it can be found easily.

[1 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

You don't object to us pre-abrieviating our own vendor name for you, do you?

Our full name is long-winded and creeps people out. I really wish the GloriousRepublicofWeed on Agora had done the same. They might get a few reviews.

Their sativas are utterly magnificent (i was a cannabis breeder, concentrating on sativa varieties for more than a decade). Whenever I write their name, I have to go and have a lie down.

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

Strictly speaking, those are initialisms. Not acronyms of course, as the initials don't spell a word.

Now if you didnt it when people called Evolution market - 'evo' or when bitcoin is referred to as 'bit' - you'd be spot on.

[-4 Points] DnmAvenger:

Oh good God... If you don't know the abbreviated name just ask! It gets rather tiring typing out shit like House of Spirit(I am sure there are longer vendor names) fifty fucking thousand times. Seriously, THIS is the earth shattering post of the day. I will tell you a secret to help you out in life in general... if you do not know something do not blame anyone else. Just ask and you will know. I am sorry, but this is some very trivial shit right here. Who the hell upvotes shit like this?

or how about you just search for the common abbreviations as well and none of that would be a problem...
