Penguin Mixer vs. shuffling coins around between Electrum Wallets

So after reading everything on the penguin mixer website, it seems like they barely even break the coins down before sending them back.

Perhaps I'm basing this off of the very simple analogy they use to explain the service to layman...

But Is there any advantage to using a service like this as oppose to just opening 10 different electrum wallets adn sending out a butt load of random transactions?

The electrum wallet automatically consolidates coins sent to many different addresses... and allows you to send them out from a completely unique address.

So. Why pay for a mixer?

ALSO: are there tumbling services that offer a far more in depth service than PENMIX?

I assumed my coins would be split into 100's of 1000's of little pieces and rearranged.

if you are not getting new coins you are not getting any protection.

I prefer Bitmixer.io. No idea why they're not on the superlist, they've been totally reliable for several years now and have a valid tor mirror site for darknet use. It works on a principle of obfuscation by replacement. You send coins in to a given deposit address and a new set of completely different and unrelated coins comes out the other end from a separate wallet address that acts as a reserve. The tumbler allows you to set custom fees (as low as 0.5% + 0.0005 btc miner/tx fee for each forward receiving address) and time delays up to 12 hours for security purposes, as well as allowing up to 5 forward receiving addresses for your coins to be split up into. Very simple to use, no logins necessary, and the cryptographically-signed letter of guarantee for each transaction is a really nice touch.

Why not use Helix Light and choose the multiple deposits and delay options for more anonymity?
