So many around here blindly trust Tor and call the people that don't crazy. I think it goes both ways. If the Tor devs are still trying to figure this situation out, then you can't jump to a conclusion either way.
If I actually used these services I would seriously consider just taking a long break rather than risk my freedom on the unknown. Thankfully I'm just here for the drama and the news.
EDIT: and to the people that say "this is gov psy-ops, they are hoping to spread misinformation and confusion so you fear Tor and don't use the markets"- maybe you are right, but maybe is the keyword.

While everybody here is screaming "TOR is broken, TOR is broken" the Grand Wizard is going to listen to the experts. Which, in this case, are the TOR developers. They point out that the SR2 takedown appears to be the result of old-fashioned detective work combined with a mole on the inside. (I'd add that while the story of how they located SR1's home IP smells like parallel construction, the Defcon takedown story is plausible on its face given his horrendous OpSec). And while they have found some worrying data, particularly from the DoxBin logs, there's nothing yet to suggest that TOR is irredeemably broken or that personal use buyers are at serious risk of being deanonymized and arrested.
I'd also note that quite a few of these busts appear to have used well-known exploits. The Brazilian Police did not "deanonymize TOR" as per their claims: they used the same JS exploit used in the Freedom Hosting takedown to catch 100 or so stupid pedophiles. If you keep your TOR browser up to date and its Javascript disabled, you're fine. Believe it or not, police sometimes exaggerate their capabilities in an effort to make themselves look like Dirty Harry rather than Roscoe P. Coltrane.
Sobulbous has a point when he says "So many around here blindly trust Tor." TOR is not a substitute for good OpSec. Ask Defcon if you don't believe me. Used properly TOR can protect you from anything except your own stupidity.

Yall keep thinking it ain't broke if you want to. You will learn the hard way I suppose. We have had 2 foreign to the usa Le's tell us it is and we have the proof of the recent events. Yall know about parallel construction, you know LE's are a bunch of lying rat bastards. Yet blindly believe the stories the put out. I am going under the assumption TOR is broken, and from the looks of things so are they (the being tor developers). All that is MHO. I hope it can be fixed but there were some interesting comments on TOR giving access to LE's, not realizing they would be so blatant. I don't know if that is the case or not, but it is an interesting theory.
