A mix of DSMO, lye , and HCL is all that needed for alot of these test. xanax will turn green reagent is good for a max 4 days. I would make it daily
- /u/alfabi I guess what he ment I SHOULD SAY is mix DSMO with LYE... Then wait for it to change color with the drug, then add HCL to make it more like a simon part A) and simons part b. (better edit cuz 99% of you will probably still fuckup by not reading the directions)

General Test Procedure #2--Strong Base (Cold) Method General Applicability and SpecificityA small amount of sample (2 to 3 mg) is added to a test tube(any type), followed by five to ten drops of DMF or DMSO and The utility of any color/screening test is directly related to itsa small amount of solid sodium hydroxide. DO NOT MIX HCL AND LYE and dmso!!! OP, remove this line what I quoted you.
HCL and lye (NaOH) would react violently if mixed together and neutrilise each other with byproduct of NaCl and H2O. Reagent is made from mix DMSO and NaOH solution, not HCl! HCL acid is used as a separate chemical, not ingredient of the test reagent.
People, without some basic chemistry knowledge and understanding of the process do not follow this especially not some forum / reddit guides. Somebody could end up hurt himself or others!
Test Reagent A was prepared by adding 50 parts of DMSO and one part of 3M sodium hydroxide. [Note: Use of sodium hydroxide solutions below 2M or over 3M was not as effective.] Test Reagent B was prepared by adding solid sodium hydroxide to DMSO and vortexing it for approximately 2 minutes. In the latter case, the supernatant was transferred to another tube and used as the test reagent. In this study, both test reagents were freshly prepared just before use; however, subsequent studies indicated that the reagents were stable for at least 4 days. Both test reagents are colorless (see Photo 1).
