Hey guys,
I'm using tails Linux through usb and I store my electrum back up on external hdd. Whenever I use command to open my electrum backup file, I get this message saying "one of your applications possibly your email client Appears to be making a possible unencrypted connection to port 110. Anything sent over this connection could be monitored. Please check your applications configuration and use only encrypted protocols, such as SSL is possible."
Is there anything I need to be worried here? If there is an issue, how should I fix this?
Thanks!
No, that's just a false positive.
A couple of the Electrum servers are on port 110 for some reason. (Perhaps to allow people to reach them through restrictive firewalls?)
The warning is there because port 110 can be used for the unencrypted POP3 email protocol. They were trying to warn email users that the content of their email could be read by malicious exit nodes.
Just make sure that the Electrum network settings (Tools > Network) have Protocol set to SSL (it is by default on Tails).
