usps warrant duration

If USPS obtained a warrant to search ones mail, how long would the warrant allow them to open packages? And aside from that, lets say that once USPS had obtained the warrant they found 1 package but let it through to build a case, but never found anything else after that 1 package, would that cause the warrant to be valid for longer?

that would be entirely dependent on the specific terms the judge approved for the warrant and situation.

I'm not sure if the law allows for a blanket warrant to be issued that covers all mail going to or from a particular address. LE needs to show a judge probable cause of a pkg. containing contraband to obtain a warrant to open. Normally, Postal Inspectors will pull aside a suspected drug parcel and place it among other pkgs. known NOT to contain drugs. They will then run a dog trained to detect drugs across the lot. A positive hit or alert on the suspected pkg. = PC which is usually enough to obtain the warrant. That allows LE open the suspected parcel only.

If LE wants to build a case and gather more evidence by monitoring future pkgs to the same address...I'm pretty sure they need to repeat the same warrant application process for each individual parcel. Inspectors can conceivably run a sniffer dog across any mail they "suspect" is drug mail. I'm almost certain they would still need to show PC and get a warrant for any individual piece of mail they wanted to open.

They won't let through drugs unless they are doing a controlled delivery. Imagine if the police let a pack go through and someone important OD's on that pack of drugs? Besides, why let you get away with key evidence against you? You could flush the pack and get away scott free. The only time they let something through is if they know where it is 100% of the time.

If you look up some of those cases (need to get back towork, been posting hree about this b.s. and wasting time lol) Your question about building a case against you. It may be more common for packages to be seized and the postal inspector to wait and build a case against you. I think it might depend on how lazy the police and inspector unit are or how overworked they are / the vigilance or work culture of the particular postal unit and the leadership of the postal inspector - how aggressive he is.

But they probably also have quotas or results to meet funding obigations and at that point they may follow up later in time. People have posted here where they get a visit about a seizure a couple months later.

I have oft wondered the same thing. Last October I was snitched on, and had made the grave mistake of telling my reseller how I got my drugs </facepalm>, because I was so fucking ecstatic after my first pack landed; so when he snitched, he also told that to the cops. I was raided pretty soon after that, but I HAD THREE PACKS EN ROUTE TO MY APARTMENT THAT THEY RAIDED!!! And I had some ripped of packaging from a big ass priority box from "Johnny Vee" from Cali (I denied everything of course). I got one with no problem (a "sheet"(?) of 5-MeO-MiPT geltabs), but the other two, half an oz of H and a sheet of acid, never showed... Well okay I mean the sheet was from TGUK and it was like 5 days before Abraxas flew the coup, so I'm quite sure he didn't ship it). The D, however was from a small-time but well-respected vendor, who previously had shipped within 2 days every time. I never heard anything about it... I highly doubt they would have just taken a half oz of heroin and not done shit about it, especially since they already had a decent amount of evidence........

It's been damn near a year now.. do you guys think it would be safe to order? I've ordered some Kratom a while back and it showed up no problem, no tampered-with packaging or anything. I have also changed addresses a couple times since then (I have an extremely rare name though, if that means anything.) I have been forced to use two extremely unreliable drops these past few months and it suuuuucks

My research has shown an address can be put on a watch list initially for 90 days. During that time, if anything comes thats worth their while (Probably more than personal. Waiting for a pack worth arresting for), they'll do a CD or at least knock and talk. If the postal inspectors feel more time is needed. They can ask for another 90 days.

In my opinion if you know your mail is being or has been opened/watched. I would ditch that address altogether. Its too foolish of a risk. Get a new address.

A mail cover duration is 30 days, it can then be extended up for another 120 days for a total of 5 months.

A mail cover is not a warrant.
