Is it illegal to sell legal things on say SR2?

If someone wanted to sell clothing on the road, could there be legal consequences? Is it illegal just to vend there even if nothing contraband is being sold? I'm sure this has been asked before so I apologize but I'm on my mobile and it sucks :(.

Look forward to hearing responses.

You'd still be giving them commission, paying vendor fees etc. You'd be doing business with a criminal enterprise.

Yes, two word answer: tax evasion

[3 Points] None:

You're financing a criminal enterprise. What do you think?

After the demise of SR1 I recall PlutoPete saying he was planning to try and get his BTC back as he was vending only legal items. No idea how it turned out though, worth looking into.

[2 Points] cactuzx:

Rather counterintuitive. What would be the point if you can just sell on the clearnet of which would have more internet traffic?

[2 Points] sharpshooter789:

Pluto Pete sold legal goods on SR1 and he's still vending on SR2 and a clearnet site. He uses legit return address and files the appropriate taxes. He is from the UK though.

best advice you can get for your question:

It is illegal, you could be liable for aiding or abetting. In different jurisdictions, there will still be something similar. It may be possible to try you of any offence that the principal offender may be guilty of. And you are liable for the same punishments as well.

It's illegal, but I'm pretty sure plutopete is back up and running even though he was already taken in for selling on SR.

dont think so - your more likely to attract attention anyway though

Thanks for your comments guys. Would pay taxes if I decide it's worthwhile to vend. Will consider everything and as of now it's a hypothetical anyway. Ty.

Basically it is frowned upon, and it some circumstances illegal.1 because online sales without tax and two because you are doing activity with a person who is probably committing a crime. If you see something legal on SR and you want it, just take the name and type it into google or amazon, its bound to show up.

I'm not a lawyer, this is not legal counsel, but I don't believe vending legal goods on a site, dark or clear, is illegal. That said, your choice of markets could be seen as suspicious, given their target market.

That said, I have to wonder, why there? Ebay has a large selection of clothing, viewed by millions every day. Why not there, and avoid the questions altogether?

I'm relatively ignorant with regards to the legality of the situation, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be. Don't quote me on this, but I'm almost positive the concept of an internet based, anonymous marketplace/bazaar, isn't illegal in and of itself. Obviously, purchasing and selling scheduled substances or firearms would be, but as far as purchasing and selling legal goods? I wouldn't think so. From a legal standpoint, how would the buyer (of completely legal goods) be aware that he/she was "doing business with a criminal enterprise"? As far as the buyer is concerned, he/she was just purchasing legal goods through an anonymous marketplace; nothing else. Seems like even if the commenter below me was correct, "Deniable Plausibility" would trump any hypothetical charges (not that they would ever happen to begin with).

Again, I'm ignorant, and am talking completely out of my ass. I just don't think there's anything illegal with purchasing legal goods from an anonymous marketplace, that may or may not sell other illegal goods (but how would the customer know that, unless he looked at different categories/listings?). For all we know, he/she could have logged-on, and typed the product he/she was looking for in the search bar as soon as he/she logged-on, without even glancing at any of the other categories/listings.

no, it is not illegal.
