Have any of your views changed, or did the doc pretty much just elaborate on what you have already believed the entire time?
Personally, I already felt the government was making an example of him throughout all of it and the blocking of his defense case broke my heart. What I got out of it though was very unexpected (spoiler inc).
At the end, when he was asked where he was going to be in 5 years and then in 20 years (obviously asked before his arrest) his answers were to start a family, make more friends and be connected with the people he loves and in 20 years he wanted to have made a positive effect on mankind. These answers resonated with me and I became a little emotional. It is a horrific tragedy that these are the type of people our government locks away and it's even more of a tragedy when I see posts saying that Ross is "stupid" or any general bashing of his actions, many of which have been proven to be false charges or evidence.
It pretty much put together all of what I already felt was going on.
I couldn't agree more. The guy risked everything and really sparked a lot more than just how we trade. Rights issues, internet privacy, how the law regards all of it, many things were put into the light and I feel like by making an example out of Ross, they fucked themselves in the end.
But my take on the entire thing is that Ross played a part in creating SR, but Variety Jones was/is the primary DPR and set everything up for Ross to take the fall so that he could essentially pull out of the game and be rich. How were the servers found? VJ told them.
