TOR via Home WIFI or iPhone (LTE) - which is safer?

I can access Tor with the browser bundle on my macbook with an openvpn (somewhere in euro) running under Tor. I also found there is an iPhone app for Tor (on the app store) which lets me browse darknet markets on my iPhone 5. I'm just wondering from a security stand point - which would be safer? Is LTE/cell carriers more likely to be sniffed, etc than my internet connection (DSL)? Any ideas?

never use your iphone to connect to tor; your VPN setup with Tor is a lot safer

Ok.. Was just kind of curious but will take your advice

The risk with any other setup than the Tor browse bundle or a (proper!) Tor VPN is that you might leak data anyway -- google "tor dns leak".

I would not trust the Tor client.

I would say onionbrowser (the iphone app) is fine for browsing Tor, just don't submit anything that you'd like to be private. I use it all the time for my regular browsing, as I don't like all the tracking done by, well, every corporation out there... (at least, when I have access to a hotspot, otherwise it can be excruciatingly slow). If i used darknet markets, i wouldn't go near them with onionbrowser, though

Problem is that your iPhone isn't a trusted platform. According to Jacob Appelbaum, the NSA has a 100% success rate at backdooring iPhones. Even if you are not worried about the NSA, your local law enforcement can probably force your carrier to install some kind of exploit malware on your phone.

Use the WiFi. Your data is encrypted if you are using Tor, so it doesn't matter if somebody is sniffing your packets. All they will see is that you are communicating with the Tor network.
