Sourcing Posts & Vendor Advertising

Sourcing

Just a quick post to remind the community the rules regarding sourcing. The sourcing posts have gotten out of hand lately. In the past, we've generally issued warnings to first time offenders, at mod's discretion, but given this is becoming systemic, a sourcing question will lead to a ban. If the sourcing posts dramatically decrease, we can consider going back to warnings.

https://www.reddit.com/r/darknetmarkets/wiki/index/rules#wiki_4._no_general_sourcing_submissions

Its pretty simple. If you want to ask, you must have a discrete number of vendors and ask about a comparison of those vendors. It could be 2 vendors or 5. Whatever. Do some research and find some to compare. The reality is, many in the community will suggest other vendors anyway. So you'll get a well-encompassed set of replies most of the time.

The only exception to this sourcing rule is when asking about a rare product. This truly means a rare product. Addy, cocaine, oxy, weed are not rare products. If you are unsure whether your sought after chemical is rare, message the mods. You will get an answer.

This is not necessarily a rule any of us like enforcing. We have to. This is not a marketplace. We are a community that discusses activities that happen elsewhere. Sourcing questions that are open-ended can lead this sub to becoming a platform to facilitate deals and that is not what we are here to do. Reddit wouldn't let us operate in this manner.

Do research. Find some vendors. Ask away. Any questions, message the mods and we'll let you know whether something is allowed or not.

And a reminder: Just because you see a sourcing post, this doesn't mean we allow it. It probably slipped through automod and our queues. If you see a sourcing post, please report it so we can investigate. Remember, we want to ensure the longevity of this sub. Please help us do so!

So to be clear, we have cleared the mod queue at this point. The last set of warnings were given for sourcing posts. From this point on out, sourcing posts in violation of Rule #4 will result in a temporary ban of 3 days.

Vendor Ads

Vendors, remember you need to contain your ads in the Darknet Deals thread stickied at the top of the sub. Your ads must contain an onion link! Do not try to slip in an ad in some unrelated post. WHen you do this, you get an advantage over the other vendors who are playing by the rules. We try to be lenient and give a friendly warning when this happens, but we've had such issues that a temp ban will occur now and if it happens again, a permanent ban. We love vendor participation in the community. Please do participate. As a rule of thumb, replying to a post with your store onion link is not permissable. Again, posts outside of the Darknet Deals thread should contribute positively to the community.

As always, when in doubt message the mods.

EDIT: Added note about sourcing posts slipping through.

Yes, boss!

What if you compare some vendors and say in your post that you're open for suggestions for others? And what if a new vendor just wants to announce he's opening up shop?

Here's a wild thought- we're committing felonies. Maybe we should spend less time talking about rules designed to keep Reddit off our asses (as always, please remember they don't give a tiny bit of a fuck) and more time sharing information. Like deals. Scams. You know, the shit you try to ban. All the useful stuff.

One day we'll have an outlaw forum, but for now we're stuck with this travesty.
