I see a lot of vendors using wickr. Do hey really have it on their mobile phone? And talk to customers? I don't really see how that can be safe, but so many people use it. Am I missing something?
How safe is wickr?

Wickr encrypts all messages and claims not to keep any records, the pro version is open sourced and has been audited by independent security experts, they haven't released the source code for the free version though so take that as you will

They use it cos the messages you send can be set to auto delete. This is a good feature because a high percentage of people are getting convicted based on their text messages. I don't know if it makes things more secure but I use it on a phone with no SIM card and tether it to my everyday phone.

Its much safe than being logged onto Tor all day. If you don\t feel safe using it then DONT USE IT..

It's safe enough to make to it harder for LE to know exactly what you're saying.

I always liked Wickr and i know several people who got busted in big drug cases and their wickr data was never part of the trials, so the LE havent been able to use their wickr stuff for anything. Anyway... I do not like the update for several reasons:
Its not possible to DELETE contacts (i never keep essential contacts in my wickr app, i add -> delete -> add -> delete, such as i never have them as contacts IF LE should somehow get access to the app, its information i dont want them to know.
If you want notifications for a wickr message, the notification now tells who the wickr message is from without needing to login to the app.
The burn messages feature somehow seems worse and over-complicated compared to before. (resets and has to be manually edited for every new conversation)
The auto logout feature is now also kinda wierd and if you "tab out" of the app and back in, it always want the password again, BUT there is like a QUICK picture of the apps last used screen.
The messages in conversations now show the names of every recieved and sent message user, including timestamp.
The screenshot feature, i dont really get it.
I bet there is more i just forgot this moment im writing this post. But how is any of these features better security for the users? Its all new features which kind of is in favor of the LE, i dont fucking get it..
Edited for spelling errors.

I like surespot it's open source and uses pgp but either way make sure not to have the app constantly installed or hidden from the menu as LE can open the app and read the messages no matter what kinda encryption you use

its safe if you trust Wickr Inc, not as safe as PGP or other open source secure messaging apps

or maybe, with wickr, vendor can easliy scam the buyer. because no proof of conversation that can be screen capture later after the scam happened
Use wickr on pc with pgp...
