Won't happen here in Canada IMO. It'll get struck down under the Charter of rights and freedoms just like many other things the police wanted to do in regards to digital communication.

What if you say "fuck Off"? Or maybe just drop and stomp!

Wont happen in CA, certainly won't happen in USA.
Worst case in US, they force you to use your fingerprint. You should have PIN as well. Already proven they cannot compel you to disclose your PIN.

In the U.S., the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution gives people the right against self-incrimination. Courts have pretty consistently ruled that this means that you don't have to surrender an encryption password. However, they can force you to surrender a physical object (like a crypto smartcard or token) or to use your fingerprint or other biometrics to unlock a device.
However, there have been some cases where a U.S. judge disagreed, and some suspects have had some shitty experiences. Bottom line: YMMV and the case law still isn't firmly established either way, yet. But in most cases the general interpretation has been that you're protected. If you ever end up in a case like this, the amazing, wonderful, fierce, badass lawyers at the EFF would probably like to help defend you for free - hit them up. In the meantime, give them a donation, cuz they're awesome.

You had me at Canadian. I'm in tears.
I recently watched "Border Security: Canada's front line" on netflix and was shocked at the fact that they can just go through your phone, text, emails, open up your laptop etc.
