[OPSEC/Computer]Mail opened by border services, nothing confiscated

It arrived in original packaging but with big yellow tape over the top that said Canadian Border Services Agency. Now granted, it was just a package of ritalin, but one would assume that if they went through the trouble of opening it, they would take it, but it was still there. So I'm guessing that they didn't care enough to confiscate it and that I'm safe as long as I don't get any more international mail, right? I mean I assume my name is on a list or something now...

Any reason why they WOULDN'T confiscate it after opening the package though?

they were probably afraid what you would do if you didnt get your meds :)

Yes. Now they have the name and address of a person ordering prescription medication internationally. Most people just walk down the street to the local pharmacy to fill their Ritalin prescription. Having it shipped from another country might be a red flag.

They probably didn't confiscate the pills because it was a small amount and they couldn't actually prove you didn't have a prescription. Just not worth their time most likely. But they might be monitoring your name and address for any other packages that they can use to nail you.

You could test the shipping address with a legitimate package that has to go through Canadian border services and see if they tamper with it again.

Yes the reason is because there's a chance you are a prescription holder and if that's the case they don't have the right to take your medicine. Unless you're shipping massive quantities of prescription pills there's minimal risk with them. Drug dogs don't detect them. And if they are ever discovered you're safe with the possability that you have a prescription plus they're just pills. It's a lot better to have a misdelivered package be opened by a stranger and it contains pills as opposed to say heroin or meth. With pills the stranger almost surely throws them out or tries to get in contact with you. With heroin or meth they almost surely call the police.
