I was reviewing over DPR's court case evidence and found this.
I assume this is a screenshot of a chat between DPR and a moderator.
Specifically:
Roll up a doobie and put your party hat on because the biggest stoner holiday is just around the corner, and we've got alot of ganja to deliver! We're pulling out all the stops to celebrate 420 this year. Starting at 4:20 pm on 4/20/2012, we'll be giving away 420 prizes every 420 seconds! WOO!!! Gift cards, badass consumer electronics, real gangsta shit! And to top it all off, we're sending one lucky buyer on a dream vacation with all the trimmings!!! The buzz around this is going to be HUGE!
This is a sample of the text used by Silk Road to announce their 4/20 sale (or so I presume).
However, when doing some research on Tony76 I found this artice which states that Tony76 used almost the exact same phrase to announce his 4/20 sale.
Tony sweetened the pot far beyond his usual offerings of drugs: "This 4/20, every 420 seconds, some lucky buyer will win one of our 420 great prizes!" wrote Tony. "From $50 gift certificates to a brand new iPhone 4s, some lucky person will be chosen every 420 seconds to win a prize." The grand prize? A "trip for two with all the trimmings to paradise, all expenses included."
Was the magazine just misquoting the 4/20 sale, or am I missing something?
Can I get a DNM historian over here?
Daily Dot is mistaken here. In my forum copy, Tony76 didn't use that language, that was DPR announcing the big contest; see https://www.dropbox.com/s/larhtgcue1rxt9b/index.php%3Ftopic%3D18311.0
Tony76 offered big freebies and discounts for his exit scam, of course, but nothing like a vacation trip.
