There was a post about it last week, but I've heard nothing of it since then. If so will it start September 1st or am I good to order?
Is bitcoin still going to be out of commission in September?

Reading this thread from bitcointalk.org - Evidently this has been done before for a whole month and never even glitched the service , some are saying it is an attempt to provoke panic - I have no idea personally as I do not understand the tech but thought the info would be helpful. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1156126.0

does anybody know what that's supposed to mean? this is the first im hearing of this and my coins wont come in til september 3rd.....

I'm willing to bet that your transactions will work, but they may take days to complete.
I really hope they upgrade Bitcoin Blocks soon because this whole "ability to stop an economy" thing is a little scary.

Noob question: This is being done in the UK - so this will shutdown BTC transaction in the US as well ?

Oh boy, more "stress testing"
[2 Points] auto587643:
I don't think the stress testing will seriously hamper things. It's been done before and it only slowed down things, but never stopped them. Worst case scenario, set a higher send fee on your wallet and things will move faster.

Its FUD, big corporations are trying to infiltrate bitcoin thru bitcoin XT and blablabla by dosing bitcoin to show us why we need bigger blocks....

Is the price going to drop or rise during this? Opinions?! :P

so, it's september now--any word on btc transaction speeds yet?

They been saying shit like this for years, and nothing ever happens

Thats okay because their is always dogecoin :)
Electrum -> set higher fees
Problem is if services negletc to do that, then your coins is stuck unconfirmed
