I noticed when I try to use Tor on Localbitcoins.com it gives me a security warning about using Tor when transferring bitcoins. Is this legit? Should I not use Tor when transferring bitcoins on localbitcoins.com? I try to use Tor for most things like this, for peace of mind. Should I disregard the warning and continue using Tor?
What's the safest way to transfer bitcoins from LocalBitcoins.com to dark markets? I know about tumblers and will most likely use one, however I am interested in this warning and whether it is a valid concern.
Thank you!
Recently users of blockchain.info were getting robbed when using Tor, as the exit nodes would strip the ssl (https) from thier outgoing traffic, redirect to http and were replacing the lock icon with a favicon to simulate it still being ssl. At that point they could steal all your info and rob you, so they blocked Tor and created an onion mirror of their site where this is not possible.
Why hasnt this happened yet on lbc? Im sure its just a matter of time, even 2fa cant protect you as the code you enter during the 2fa process can still be lifted during the session and used to gain access. Perhaps lbc is just a lesser used wallet compared to bci, but all clearnet webwallets are equally insecure to these exit node attacks.
