[OPSEC/Computer] DBAN, TAILS, and Matthew McConaughey

Tried asking this on NOOBs but didnt get an answer (maybe I didnt communicate weill) so I'm going to try asking here with less context. (Also I've read the sidebars, I know the basics...just am confused on this point and would help to have ppls input.)

Basically I am trying to decide whehter to (1) use a DBANed laptop (my first choice if possible),(2) install TAILS on a diff laptop that I've used on DNM with less-than-perfect OPSEC, mainly no TAILS + home wifi (would only do this if TAILS erases past activity) or (3) get used laptop, start over w/TAILS off bat.

After DBAN-ing your machine, could you still run TAILS on it (TAILS being loaded onto a USB stick)?

Yes. Tails doesn't give even a single fuck about your hard drive, its contents, or even if it's there at all.

Does TAILS eliminate information about PAST (DNM-related) activity on your machine when you install it?

No. Also, you shouldn't try to "install" Tails if you can avoid it. Run it off a disc or flash drive, instead.

Use DBAN to eliminate old evidence (3-pass is plenty). Note that if you're using an SSD, DBAN won't cut it - use http://partedmagic.com/secure-erase/ instead.

Anything else, just ask.
