[CommunityDiscussion] Customer Service. Does it matter to you?

Trying to restore some order in the madness of the last couple of weeks, I've been searching for new vendors to do business with.

Doing the usual stuff, looking at reviews, and then sending a message to what looks like prospective vendors has been rather interesting.

I don't know if it's just me, but SOME of these guys lack the most basic curtesy and it really pisses me off.

How are you going to try and pass yourself off as a reputable vendor if before I've even made a purchase, you're already palming me off with one word answers and pure rudeness. IMO It's an instant switch off, and completely stumps any prospect of doing business together.

So I ask. Is there a place for customer service in the markets? Do you care? I'm I being too senstive?!?!

It's huge for me. Whenever I sold, I took pride in both my product and my service... well, I do that for whatever business I'm engaged in. It goes a long way. But I don't really expect it from vendors, they're just the guy selling out of an online crackhouse. When do get good service, I'm far more likely to go back or stick with them.

Yes. I think bad service, like what you described, are keys to being a bad vendor. Some vendors have common courtesy, some don't.

Cocktails? Nope. The.plug? Nope.

/u/Canna_Co , yes. :)

I always message my vendors before placing an order.

extremely important. actually the most important thing for me.

I always message a vendor that I have not bought from first, and ask them questions to see if they'll answer it. No response or a shitty one means no purchase from me. I do this if I plan on spending $100+ on something or if I really "need" it.

Here are the things that I really care about:

Unfortunately I think the good communication part is what lacks the most from most vendors. For me, I'm okay with short replies and honestly don't really expect a quick reply at all. If I haven't placed an order yet or never have, I don't expect bigger vendors to reply. Smaller ones generally will. I don't necessarily hold it against the vendor. For me, the most important parts are what I listed - for communication, if there is an issue, I do expect prompt responses (within say 48 hours). This would be for messed up order or order that hasn't arrived in the expected time frame.

Maybe I've been lucky, but the vendors I've used have been good. Some vendors are more terse than others. Don't take it personally. ANd if it bugs you, find another vendor. There are plenty out there.

Customer service is very important. I can understand vendors are busy and receive a lot of messages, however, if a (potential)customer sends a message requesting information about a product then that should be a top priority to respond to that message, especially if the customer has already purchased the listing and is requesting information relating to this listing.

I can understand ignoring questions which are explained in the listing or on the vendor profile, but when a customer has a legitimate question the vendor should do everything possible to ensure the customer receives the appropriate answer, even if it is just linking to a clearnet site with relevant information.

If vendor doesn't respond to my messages/questions then there's a good chance I'm not going to place an order. I prefer to order from vendors who have knowledge of their products and will take the time to respond to legitimate pre & post sales questions.

I make comments here all the time about how this is a business; we should expect the same uptime as normal websites; yadayadayada. Those comments constantly get downvoted or answered with some form of "you're buying drugs from the internet" because we're all degenerate drug abusers and that's all we deserve apparently.

Just shows how successful the War on Drugs has been. There's a significant portion of the community that has government instilled self loathing. As far as I'm concerned, though, customer service is just as important in the markets as it is in any legitimate business.
