So today I was messaged by a very well trusted, long standing vendor for a 1BTC loan. I am very confused as this is a VERY well known and trusted vendor who should not need a 1BTC donation. Heres the message:
"It was me don't worry. Thank you for FEing in time, also added extra. It should be there soon but I was wondering, I'm short 1.0 BTC due to vendor fees on multiple markets and shipping costs. If you Let me me borrow 1 BTC until Monday I will Pay you back 1.1 BTC and give you your tracking number for your current order on nucleus PLUS throw in a few grams extra for free because If I don't pay the vendor fees my accounts will be closed down and I'll lose alot of money and be forced to direct deal. I wouldn't ask normally but I'm limited on choices but monday My deposit for btc goes through and I will have that amount back. If you could help me out just this one time I will make up for it, and I can have you resell for me if interested. Let me know as soon as possible either way My btc address is ***************************** and let me know if you can It would really help the both of us"
I'm wondering if this vendor's account has been compromised? Is it stupid of me to consider going through with this??
So I have since confirmed it is a fake account. Beware Smileawhile on Dream. It is not the real smilewhile. Smileawhile's real vendor account on dream is Smile_awhile. I was high on Nifoxipam at the time of receiving the message and did not clue into obvious signs such as the fact his speech patterns where completely different and the fact he implied I ordered Express on Nucleus when I ordered untracked. Also made no connection between the two accounts on both markets so I think its pretty clear it isn't the real deal. He's now asking for 0.5BTC instead, and I laughed and asked for a PGP signed message confirming his identity. Beware folks. Special thanks to /u/TheOpiateKing for helping me figure this out.
sounds like a scam to me, i thought vendor's had to pay the bond when they opened the store.
