Question About Setting Up Po Box..

Went and brought the 2 forms of ID required to set up a PO Box, a valid state ID and a fake lease that showed me as a tenant of the address listed on my ID.

After the lady was done copying down my information she told me they would need a couple days to verify it and to expect a call from them.

I wanted to see if anybody with experience could tell me if this is normal and do they actually verify the lease or just your ID information?

Thanks in advance guys

I got my PO Box keys same day, right there as they signed me up.. In fact, I didnt have the required form and he pretended to have seen my voter registration card and just checked the box anyway. Never heard of having to wait.

I wouldn't recommend using fake information as it could be seen as a red flag

You're pwnt dude. They've never verified dick any time i've gotten a PO Box, and I've had several. I never feel like paying the $40 or so after ive had it for six months and always end up needing one a few months later.

Only time I didnt get keys on the spot was when they gave me a PO box with a combination lock. Gave me a combination on the spot.

Honestly, if its a real ID i dont know why you didnt have anything to verify residency. I used my car registration last time. And you dont have to verify anything to register a car here.

Was the address on your lease a place in Syria?

They are sticklers about having residency...yes.

Anytime I have rented a private mailbox, I just had fill out a form with basic contact info, show an ID, and pay the fee. I got my keys right there and then. I doubt they ever verified any of the information. It is just on file so they can contact you if you stop paying or stop coming to get your mail.

These were all private mailboxes (like UPS Store or mom-and-pop places). I would avoid getting a box at USPS, unless it is your only option.

I just used drivers licence and passport. Technically 2 photo ID's but they didn't care.

OP's post should warrant attention, po box places are starting to do this more with out of state ID customers. They give you the keys and you pay for the box, but then they mention something aboyt needing to "get it approved by the post office". But then you never hear of it again and mail flows through without problem. It looks like usps is in the early stages of possibly implementing some kinf post box approval system.
