Got a US PO box today

They took my drivers license number, and would have accepted a passport, and then I also needed either proof of a mortgage/auto registration, or an auto or home insurance ID number. I've seen a deal of speculation around here, and idk how much they scrutinize the info before passing your application, but that's all the info they needed.

why would you get a PO box? aren't those treated more suspiciously than house addresses?

I think they will also take voters registration card

If you are implying that it might be a good idea to use a fake ID and auto insurance to open a PO box, please just step out... Whether or not you give real or fake information, they probably won't look into it unless something happens.

However, if the USPS intercepts a package with drugs, they can simply perform a controlled delivery (not unlike the one being talked about recently). If you get caught and are the person in the PO box application, a drug trafficking charge might be possible. If you are not that person, then expect far worse charges of mail fraud + drug trafficking or attempting to open another person's mail + drug trafficking.

It's not about the name on the application. It's about whether or not you are that person while getting caught opening his or her PO box.
