So after my review yesterday I've had a few people message me asking my technique on hot plating Coke, after a bit of searching I couldn't really find much so I thought I'd make this post with how I do it so it's there for the community! Please feel free to comment if there's a way to improve it or if you do it different etc.
So the way I do it is to heat a plate in the oven at about 75 °C - 80 °C, and leave the plate in there till it reaches temperature. Its super important that it isn't hotter than this as cocaine will melt at 98 °C, but any cooler and residual solvent may not evaporate (assuming solvent is organic based, not water). If you have a gas oven or something without temperature control, the plate should basically be hot enough that you can just about touch it for a second without burning yourself, but not be able to hold it, if you see what I mean.
Take the plate out the oven when its up to temp and then put the coke on it (maybe start with a small amount to ensure it doesn't melt), and break up the rocks and move them around the plate a bit. I use a metal spatula from the lab, but something like a metal teaspoon would work just fine too.
The rocks should go hard and crispy almost very quickly. Once thats done chop it up as you would as usual with a card or razor!
Honestly makes the world of difference to even the slightest wet coke and its super easy!
Enjoy!
tl;dr: heat a plate to ~80C, put Coke on it (ensuring it doesn't melt) and break up larger rocks moving around plate until Coke feels crunchy. Rack up!!

i don't use an oven. microwave a plate. wait until it's warm enough that I can touch with my hands so they're not burning before putting stuff on it.
