Another Xanax Post.

After reading all of the information posted lately on Xanax I thought I'd share my own experiences and ask a few questions regarding the use of it.

I've been on and off for about 3 years. Never taking more than one bar (Who knows if it's more than 2 mg maybe 3-4). But I take a full one every night to sleep. I can tell I have some small memory lapses, I had decreased sex drive for a short amount of time (Went away and I have no idea why), and other "bartard" symptoms.

I don't really know where I'm going with this post, but I can confidently say that it has had negative impacts on my overall health. First I will say whatever (my vendor who will not be named) is a trustworthy guy. I find it more of a mental issue of not being able to sleep and the occasional feeling "weird" experience from long term use. (Granted, I have gone 6 months on 4 months off, things of that nature).

Now for the questions because you all are a lot more knowledgable than I am on this.

  1. Obviously, cold turkey would not suffice since the length of use. What would you guys recommend?

  2. I don't know whether or not it's an addiction or a habit. If I don't take it I don't lose my mind, crawl out of my skin, or freakout, but I can say I have experienced situations where I'm not comfortable. I.E. Going to the store and buying normal things like groceries, clothing, etc.

  3. Clearly the best way to get off is a taper. Now who wants to taper with bars that may not necessarily be dosed properly? (In the respective scores of a bar) Any suggestions are more than welcome that's kind of why I'm here asking you guys what you would do in this situation.

TLDR; On and off use for about 3 years. What would you do in my situation?

Chances are its 3-4 Mg bar, there are a few options you can use to taper.

  1. See if you can break up the bar into quarters, Instead of a full bar take 3 of the 4 parts and do this for a few days up to a week, After start working your way down to two parts and then one and if needed breaking the bars into even smaller pieces.

  2. Go see a doctor, Be honest tell them you have been using Benzos long term and that you need help getting off them without going cold turkey, Chances are they will prescribe you a benzo with a longer half-life meaning it stays in your system longer but meaning the comedowns and withdrawals will be smoother, usually this benzo is valium i believe.

With this long term use i'm sure you have grown a dependency and a mental addiction to it, I wish you good luck! Thankfully you are only doing one bar so withdrawal should not be as bad as you may hear around from other people, Lots of these people have built a tolerance and have gone above taking a single bar.

If you can get Valium in 10 mg and 1 mg tabs, it is possible to taper down by 1/2 mg say every week. This may require the assistance of a medical professional to get a Valium script. I had a pretty nasty klonopin addiction until I started tapering. I started at 30 mg per day and now I'm at 28.5 mg per day. This site has all the tapering schedules:
