I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I'd like to rant a little about a DNM search tools in general. Agora, Evo, others too. Their search bar is dysfunctional and absolutely useless. Why?! Is it that hard to actually display all of the listings/users that contain the entered key word(s)?
On top of that, I have an idea. Why don't DNMs have more filters when browsing categories? For example, when vendors are making a listing, have a box where they enter the quantity of the listing in ug, mg, g, ounces, pounds, kilos, etc. When a user is searching, their can be quantity filters. e.g. 1-1000 mg, 0-.5 grams, 1-5 grams, and tiers like that. Heck, even make the parameters user-defined. Same goes for a min/max price (this part is kind of targeted at Agora; I think Evo has a tool like this already). Allow users to filter by grown indoor/outdoor, have all of the strains as filters, etc. I'd love to see a comprehensive and sensible search tool implemented.
Do you any of you have additional ideas? Or quips with my own? Curious about opinions, additional ideas, etc.
I believe the reason a lot of the sites don't have specific filters and parameters applied to the product listings is due to the limitations of them when it comes to none drug related items and this could be abused in many ways. For example, "Rolex Watch - 5 grams, grown outdoors". Yes, it would make it easier to search drugs but I think it would only be really affective on a drug-only market. No developer wants to be hard coding search and listing values to a dynamic category Id that in theory could be changed at any point in time (not that anyone would pointlessly change it, therefore essentially breaking every item linked to it). I completely agree that there are improvements to be made though. Utopia seems to be the only market that has these sorts of options, quite ironic really that it was the quickest to ever be seized.
