[Overheard in court] Legal team (prosecution) doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about.

I'm currently sitting in a cafe in a magistrates court. Everyone has stopped for lunch and there are 3 prosecutors and an usher talking about a case behind me.

There is a guy in custody that is on trial today for possession with intent to supply class B drugs (I can only assume cannabis).

My ears pricked up when I heard them saying "he was getting it shipped through the post from Canada and the USA". Well, this is interesting!

I'm not going to be able to find much out about the case - I could probably find his name amongst the daily list of defendants but I digress...

These guys have absolutely no idea what they're talking about and seem pretty confused about how this is even possible. By the sounds of it they think it is some kind of clearnet site, but I have heard one of them mention 'bitcoin' and 'money transfers'. They are also saying there is no evidence of any transactions, no info was found on his computer or in his home. All they had was a package that was addressed to him which was seized at customs. Sounds like they pulled him in for questioning - doesn't sound like they did a CD or raided his house. It sounds like the guy buckled in the interview and they searched his property after...

There's still 45mins left for lunch so if I can hear any more I will update the OP!

The guy is in custody so it sounds like he wasn't allowed bail. Most probably not his first offence, I just heard them saying "over 200 grams of herbal cannabis" and then they were trying to work out how much that was worth and what that converts into 'hits' of cannabis LOL.

I really feel like chiming in! hah!

Personal knowledge: they know nothing about darknets... Bitcoin and drugs in the mail is there "kill shot" in discovery documents "judge he was ordering drugs thru the mail using bitcoin his dealers might go to his house, he is a danger to public safety. For these reasons we request a bail of <not putting my bail amount here>" then they pulled a warrent on me after I bailed out... Bringing in a computer forensics company where they went thru my shit and then borked my Linux install and attempted to get into my phone... (My opsec is great tested and proven) the discovery is rittled in errors and it's gonna be so annoying to having to testify when I plea out... My lawyer is considering trial (he's a trial lawyer actually)

Having been a juror in the past I recall seeing notices everywhere about not discussing any part of the case with other jurors anywhere but in the jury room. These prosecutors and the usher are breaking all sorts of rules (probably laws as well) by discussing parts of a case within earshot in a cafe. Go on, dob them in, you know you want to ;)

So start smoking some k1 spice then?

=)

That's why you don't talk to LE. They put forth a lot of effort to get you to incriminate yourself because actually making a sound case against you takes a lot of effort and even more competence.

You have got to be the most worthless cops in the whole world if you cant even put 2 and 2 together and even theorize it could have been ordered from the dark net. Dont get me wrong im not complaining, the less they know the better obviously but damn are they slow

This sounds like a DNM deal

A drug dealer was caught with 1000 ecstasy pills – after he tried to smuggle them into the country in a police Lego box.

David Liddle attempted to import the potentially-deadly tablets concealed in the toy packaging from a source in Belgium.

But Liddle, 22, was caught out by diligent customs officials when the package landed at the International Postage hub, in Coventry, England.

The suspicious officers opened package to find the Lego police box with around 1000 ecstasy tablets hidden inside.

And during a subsequent search of Liddle’s Edinburgh home police officers also uncovered around £100 of cocaine.

Liddle pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug ecstasy at the postal hub in Coventry on January 15 last year during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He also admitted to supplying cocaine from his home in the Southhouse area of the capital between July 2, 2014, and January 20 last year.

Fiscal depute Kirsty Anderson told the court UK Border Force officers became suspicious of the Edinburgh-bound package during a routine search.
