Cheap laptop to use?

I'm looking for a really cheap laptop that I can buy with cash to use for when I am on the dark net and other questionable websites.

The cheapest thing I have been able to find new is the HP Stream 7, which is technically a tablet, but it runs Windows 8. It's only $100. Is there something better or should I just look for a used laptop?

Go used for sure. Especially because Linux drivers tend to lag a bit, so the newest hardware often has only spotty support. Plus, buying used is way better for the environment, and a much better value nearly every time.

dailysteals.com has a regular assortment of sub-200$ laptops, most of which are core2duo or better...unfortunately they are dells for the most part, but for a throwaway who cares right?

Get an old think pad from ebay, you don't need the hdd so if you find a cheaper one with out the hdd bonus points for you.

Side question, what version of the chromebook supports Tails? I read about a version of the chromebook that does somewhere but can't find it anywhere.

I recently just got an Acer Es-111 Series at walmart. Its a netbook so you'll need to install TAILS via USB but it was only $200.

used pc's from ppl you do not know, even if you knew them, are malware, spyware, worms, viruses, ect..,you get the idea. Clean slate my friend, a pc is one that's never been online. more important than the age of the pc is the OS.

I just got an asus laptop from walmart.com for 9 dollars. I bought a $500 paypal cash code, had 10 dollar paypay credit from a previous issue, and the laptop was 199. 180 profit + the 10 = 9 dollars out of pocket. Probably the best bet you could go for.

Why are people telling you to buy a used computer? The worst idea for someone who doesn't know a lot about computers. A $400 laptop can look the same as a $1500 one. People see core i3 and think the 5 year old used laptop is as good as the brand new one

Just go to Walmart and buy a $300 computer. Don't buy clearance laptops there unless you know what you're doing(they'll mark down a 7 year old computer 50 dollars).

If you came looking for someone to recommend a specific model, I wouldn't bother. PC manufacturers have so many different models, the odds of you finding the same one in a store is remote.
