Flying with cannabis oil

Hi, lifelong daily pot smoker here, probably older than you, with a couple questions regarding these newfangled ways of ingesting weed I've become so fond of....

Prior to 9/11 I routinely flew with pot. There were no body scanners, no dogs, and no pat downs except in extraordinary cases, so all that was required was to not be stupid. But after 9/11 it just got too risky. The odds of being searched at TSA checkpoints is just too high. Ditto with the odds of checked bags being x-rayed and/or sniffed by canines.

So over the years I've evolved from smoking weed to vaping weed to solely vaping cannabis oils. And this leads to my questions:

1) Will canines hit on CO2 extracted oils? I'm guessing they will but since there is virtually no plant matter left I would think it's a lot easier to conceal from them. Can that be done without vacuum sealing equipment? For example, what if I put a cartridge inside a couple layers of zip lock bags, with one of them containing a layer of vaseline, and then tape that to my body where only a strip search will find it? Will that get past a dog?

2) What would be the safest place to hide a vape cartridge? It would be pretty obvious on an x-ray. It might be mistaken for a tobacco cartridge -- or it might not. So would it be best to carry it on my person and refuse body scans, in checked bags, in carry-on, or what?

3) A vape pen battery is perfectly legal but would it be likely to trigger further inspection?

Wisdom, insights, and thoughts on these weighty matters will be highly appreciated.

How much do you use? For ultra stealth, get an insulin pin and some 1cc fish oil softgels. Use the slin pin to empty the fish oil out, then inject the cannabis oil in. The gauge is small enough that they should seal back up.

Many airports have fully body scanners (the ones that look like a small wind tunnel) which means securing anything to your body is a bad idea. I'd definitely bury it deep in your checked luggage along with other vape gear.

Imo edibles are the way to go. Who'd ever think to check a chocolate bar or a jaw breaker?

Those airport dogs are sniffing for bombs not drugs. Totally different dogs, not trained to smell weed at all. I'd just put it in my carryon and act like I have nothing to hide. Even better if you're a woman or traveling with one, put it in the makeup bag and it will look like 50 other random little containers.

Think about how many people smoke weed. If the TSA took down everyone who flew domestically with personal amounts they'd be doing nothing but that 24x7.

They know people carry small amounts of weed and they do not care. Just chill.

Never had issues flying with a single cart of CO2 oil in my carry-on, first time I did it I'd just forgotten to take it out of my overnight bag, was tossed in a Ziploc with all my other vape gear (couple more cartridges, and some eGo/mod batteries), went through the X-ray, had a dog sniffing folks in the security line due to where I was flying out of being part international terminal, no reactions at all, no inspection, nothing. I will say that more and more airlines are treating ecig gear as non-checkable, same as laptops/laptop batteries and anything else with a lithium-poly/ion battery inside. Flown a couple times since then though out of smaller airports, never hassled over any of my vape gear at all, regardless of contents, even some unlabeled DIY bottles (3-5ml) of ejuice that I could easily have been stopped for due to lack of markings. Of course, I'm also white, female, mid-20s, so not exactly a high-profile target for the TSA either. Not saying they're out targeting minorities or anything, but in general, I see more annoyed older persons being spot-checked just because of their subconscious behaviors in the screening lines, that or they didn't put some specific item in a specific place for the X-ray, these days it seems to be 'liquids out, laptops out' and anything else gets the bag in question spot-checked and swabbed for explosives. Possibly drugs as well depending on how big of an airport you're flying out of, but I've not been to any US domestic airports that do drug swabs on anything at security.

Dogs only looking for bombs, flew to California from the east coast and forgot I had a .5g slab of hash in my wallet between parchment paper

If it's domestic, you're totally fine. All dogs used for domestic flights are BOMB sniffing dogs, not drug sniffing dogs. If it's international, put it in a condom then up your butt. A drug sniffing dog won't hit on that unless it's like literally sniffing your pant leg already.

Update:

So I decided to put the cart itself in a checked bag with my toiletries and the battery in my carry-on. That was to: a) put the cart in the place that will get the least attention, and b) keep the battery out of checked bags since they frown on that.

Worked fine. But had I been carrying the cart on person, it likely would have been discovered. The scanner turned up a "groin anomaly" (whatever that is) and they demanded a pat down. It was pretty thorough and would have found anything there unless I had it tucked well up between my butt cheeks.

I know some of you guys think I'm being overly paranoid but I don't think I am. I know TSA isn't looking for drugs, but they're in a very good position to find them and they're not just going to overlook it in most cases. Even a misdemeanor drug conviction could do serious damage to my career (or end it completely), so it's not something I can take lightly.

Anyway, thanks for the advice!
