Getting a tracking number?

So how do you go about getting a tracking number for a order? Express mail is not so bad because I know the mail will come in in 2-3 days but when I'm waiting 2 weeks+ it would be nice to know where that pack is.

I just don't want to sound like a noob asking vendors for a tracking number. Obviously I wouldn't ask on adds that's specifically say no tracking numbers.

Have you tried using MyUSPS? It would allow you to see your incoming mail (items with tracking) without inputting their tracking #s, as it uses one's address to track your mail. It's not perfect by any means (far from it--it's USPS after all), but it's better than nothing.

It's generally not good form to ask vendors for your tracking number. They receive a ton of such requests daily, especially the more popular vendors, and they don't want to hear about tracking until it's obvious that a shipment has gone awry. It's better to try not to burden them unnecessarily as you'll get better reviews, better/more products, and better treatment from them.

Most vendors won't give it to you. Read their about page and see if they mention their policy. If it's really important, message the vendor saying it's important, but if it's not crucial don't bother.
