Hello guys,
First of all I wanna say i'm not involved in this, but I really feel bad for all you out there, that were minding their own business and must feel terrible now. Also, as an average tax payer, i'm shocked my money was used in such a way.
Next, i'm gonna say: fight back. How? Even if you can't do anything legally, use the deadliest weapons against anything funded by our tax money: public opinion.
Be vocal about how LE messed up. For a complete month, they have facilitated the trade of illegal drugs, weapons, child porn, fraud related activities, etc. And they took money out of it. A lot.
And guess what? The money is in BTC. I'm fairly sure we will NEVER hear about it again. It will be sold and the people leading this will keep it.
Let it be known to the most people you can, that people's tax money was spent to create a team that, for a whole 30 days, ran an illegal market and pulled money out of it. Every single person living in the countries involved funded those activities for a complete month.
Sure, they pulled out 40k sellers's idendity. But it's not excuse if you have to break the law yourself.
If you have any contact in the press, know a well known blogger, or anything. Ask them to relay the information.
Expose their way of doing in any way. But, most importantly, stay safe.
How is this a "fuck up"? Police have participated in criminal activity as part of undercover operations thousands of times in the past. It is a widely accepted and routine practice in law enforcement. You won't find sympathy. Furthermore their activity in the market resulted in the shut down of the marketplace, arrest of the admins, arrest of drug dealers including dealers of lethal drugs like fentanyl, potentially arrest of users as well, and the DEA/FBI seized very lucrative assets. This is a huge win on all counts for them. Everyone involved got promotions and awards I bet. In the US support for marijuana legalization is only slightly more than half, imagine what that number is for legalization of shit like fentanyl, cocaine, meth, etc. VERY VERY LOW. 90% of the public thinks you belong in jail and the other 10% are probably felons. Real talk. Also go read the press conference releases. They specifically mention numerous times the guns, false documents like passports (hello terrorism), counterfeit money, etc. The "dark web" to most people = child porn, fentanyl, terrorism and guns.
Cryptocurrency from prior market seizures has been auctioned off. Again, this is a common and routine practice for law enforcement. They often brag about seizures from criminals. Some towns have PD Lambos that they seized from drug dealers etc. None of this is unusual and you won't find widespread sympathy in society.
