BTC Fee

I just made a transfer of $70 from my electrum to the market with a fee of around $10 worth of mbtc. When should I expect this to confirm? I understand a $10 bitcoin fee is low right now but I wasn't expecting it to be as high as it was...

Dont always trust what electrum suggests as fees. Me personally I always manually input it, using current fee estimates found via various websites. If it takes its sweet time I use a (free) tx accellerator. IF that still doesn't get the shit moving, I RBF, adding anywhere from a dollar to 5 more. I've had shit confirm after RBF'ing a damn dollar extra.

I know its gonna be financial rape to do transfers right now(getting told 13$ for a 25$ send!!)...and I know its impossible to foretell future...but is this likely to be the way its going to be for awhile(weeks/months) or just a quickish thing that can be waited out possibly is what Im hoping to know.

If you fuck up and dont put enough miner's fee, use: https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ (FREE) http://confirmtx.com/ (small fee than can be paid in altcoins)

but before that happens look at the below website that suggests a high fee per kb to get into the NEXT block :

https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

Use electrum and go to preferences and then "fees" and then type in the fee per KB reccomended at the top of the website. If the recommended free is outrageously high (like .003 or above) use .0002 to .001 per KB and it should confirm in a block within a few hours.

When should I expect this to confirm?

Work out how much your fee was in satoshis per byte (looking up the transaction on blockchain.info will tell you that), then follow this graph showing which fee levels are currently being cleared. If you're in that upper peach or purple layer it might clear soon provided there's no big increase in transactions. The gray layer and the blue under it has been clearing on weekends [so far].

Edit: an increase in transactions happened, so unknown how long until the peach layer clears.

there are several websites calculating the estimated waiting time for specific transaction size/fee paid for.

dont hesitate to try it!

I have had a 0.5 mBTC fee transfer stuck for several days, just saying.
