Coinbase closed my account and won't say why

They sent me the below cryptic e-mail. Anyone ever hear of this? Some kind of crackdown? I didn't have any balance on their systems, so I didn't lose anything.

" Hello,

[7 Points] HumanIncarnite:

HIT UP GEMINI!!! only 0.25% Fee its a quater compared to B.S coinbase

Holy shit. I've been doing CoinBase ----> Electrum -----> Tumbler -----> Market or CoinBase ----> Tumbler -----> Market since Circle stopped vending, and my account is not closed, at least not yet. Thank god. I occasionally use BTC for legal clearnet stuff like kratom but still tumble on principle.

[2 Points] Mattio34:

ditto, just got the email.... I guess we know why, still sucks though.

[2 Points] None:

Just use localbitcoins, blockchain etc, coinbase sucks fed dick too much

[2 Points] ArmlessDragon:

Bummer. I guess it's time for you to migrate to local bitcoin? Certain addresses in the blockchain are considered prohibited activity, so when money went from CB to such an address(or to a wallet to such an address) an algorithm shut you down. No human intervention was involved.

The best possible thing to do is have a clear and dark wallet. Your clear wallet is for coins from coinbase/similar, and it never, ever, ever sends money to a market or to your dark wallet. Your dark wallet is for all your market use. Sending money to your clear wallet, tumbling to your dark wallet(with random transactions always, with delays if you have time), then using that wallet for DNM purchases is gonna lose you a very small amount of money compared to the hassle of being blackballed from services like CB.

Sorry that happened to you, hope this helps other folks not bump into this issue. Good luck getting coin, there are lots of other options out there, don't give up!

[2 Points] suspiciousbonermilk:

cause you transferred from cb to a market

Should all whos accounts were closed be worried?

I got the same months ago. I never send coins directly to market. I think what flagged my account was that I was accessing Coinbase using a VPN. So my logins kept changing IPs. I would guess... they have an automated system that reviews login history and if it seems you are logging in from different IPs all the time, they just assume you are up to no good.

I waited a few weeks and just for the hell of it, tried to open a new account with a different email address. It worked and I have been using it since then. Granted, I didnt all all the verification shit, so I can only buy $100 per week. But $400 a month is better than nothing for mostly personal use. I dont use the VRN when logging in to their site. So far so good.

[1 Points] Slim_Charles:

Yeah, looks like a big sweep. Hopefully there are some decent alternatives.

[1 Points] Slim_Charles:

Does anyone have any experience with Gemini?

[1 Points] quailon:

Me too must have closed a load of accounts at once

[1 Points] Bassgasm808:

Same. Anyone have a good alternative site.?

What is this?

[1 Points] BoxAddict:

My back hurts cuz I gotta carry all you fools on my bitcoin node. I try to keep it running often but all them miners run the bitcoin network pretty well w/o my help. Just makes me sleep well at night I guess

[1 Points] SomethingLe:

A long time ago I used to use

Coinbase - wallet - market

for about 25 orders and I'm still not banned to this day. I also sent coins to lots of vendors accounts straight from coinbase.

(bad opsec I know)

[1 Points] KingLeethal:

I just received this same email yesterday, oddly enough I was doing cb->market until a couple months ago i switched to cb->electrum->market. Now where should I go??

[1 Points] python134r:

I got that too yesterday, as far as I am concerned they can eat shit and bark at the moon.

It's not like there are not any alternatives.....

[1 Points] Bulky_Bear:

Been using Coinbase for 3 years, no problems

CB -> Wallet -> Wallet -> Helix -> Market

[1 Points] tittybitchennigger:

[1 Points] conair6:
