I could really use some advice starting

I am new to darknetmarkets and I have done my fair-bit of researching. I am using a macbook pro.

I tried booting TAILS from a live usb but couldnt get WI-Fi to work so i tried using a git package called TAILS-OSX, which simply wouldnt install for me.

So now I've given up on TAILS and am going to use mac. I bought a VPN and have tor installed. Should i launch my VPN before launching tor, or the other way around? WHat about the client like electrum?

Is it safe to run TAILS in a virtual machine(ex parallels, Vmware), with a VPN running on mac?

Does the macbook have an ethernet port? They removed the port on the newer, slimmer ones if I'm not mistaken. I've had compatibility issues with my wifi dongles in various linux distros before, and some other peripherals and hardware (but this is a common problem for Linux users). I was able to find the right patch though more often than not. Obviously you wouldn't be able to download any packages through CLI unless it's connected to the internet. Also, obviously, you'll need the dependencies. Are you well past this? I can't say it's good opsec to run Tails in VM software, that's just another vulnerability.

Just buy a cheap laptop off of craiglist.

As for a VPN it isn't necessary and does not help you in anyway if your only visiting .onion sites. However, if you plan to visit some clearnet sites than a VPN can be useful to disguise the fact your connecting through tor. For that to work you need to connect to tor then connect to your VPN.

Your next best bet will be to use either rEfit or use a virtual machine software like parrellels or virtual box.

If you use rEfit, you will not be able to use the File Vault for full disk Encryption. So we recommend using Parrellels. With that, you can full disk your mac drive and also full disk encrypt the virtual machine. Tails is pretty old. You would do better to install a newer version of Ubuntu, Gentoo, CentOS or Fedora and then build the accessories that you need. BUT tails will work fine.
