Just a little tip for those of you who are considering quitting drugs entirely

Total Abstinence may work for you for a while, and it may seem rewarding at first, but if you know anything about triggers there is no trigger more powerful than abstinence and it will get you back on dope before anything will, so you might as well just find what drugs work for you and learn to use them responsibly because if you are not the type for ascetic values then maybe reconsider 'sobriety' which in my understanding doesn't truly exist or if it does it is all there is and there is no intoxication we are forever just shifting between states,

I mean, to those of you who say are quick to go off spouting propaganda left over from this failed drug war and say that DRUGS ARE BAD well I'm sorry to tell you but YOU ARE MADE OF DRUGS THAT IS WHY DRUGS WORK

The best decisions I ever made in my drug recovery was actually to keep using drugs (granted I can still be a trifle irresponsible but shut up I'm working on it) so to those of you who thumb their nose at conventional ideology cheers you are truly doing gods work just like Bacta and BBMC

Sounds like you have a bit of a problem. Unless I'm not reading corectly, you're encouraging people to depend on substances their whole life. "Once a junkie, always a junkie" is complete bullshit.

I find life boring without some type of substance and believe me I do a lot of different activities . If you can maintain your health, relationships while making a living for yourself, why quit?

I get what your saying and it seems to depend on your life circumstances and how advanced you are in your recovery. In Massachusetts they're using marajuana as a substitute for heroin and having great results. I also see it in my brother no matter how long he's sober he just can't help himself from selling drugs and fuckin aeound so being around them always makes him slip back to dope. Some people may be able to handle it but my brother hasn't been clean for more than 3 months in 6 years

Made of drugs? Lol. Kinda goes well with my theory that the universe is just an LSD molecule

[1 Points] HofmannsHeir:

I'm confused, you (internet stranger) are encouraging a community of users (some who may have a problem) to continue doing drugs because "we're made of drugs/sobriety doesn't exist" and that makes it okay? I must have missed the part where you know everyone better than they know themselves, too.

You admit to being in recovery and in the same sentence say that you continue to use irresponsibly.

Here's a suggestion: lay off the drugs

I don't know the exact number of people who rebounds, but I remember it being extremely high (alcohol is worse, but then again you are almost surrounded by alcohol everyday). Some people can go for an entire life stop, but usually its by substituting the drug addiction with something else, like Narcotics anonymous (Yes that is actually how AA and NA works, by substituting one drug with "another" - which is why its often heavily criticized. But it works for some).

Stopping a drug abuse should be somewhat controlled if you are proned to rebound. Like quitting H, then go for Oxycontin as tablet only once or twice a month, and have that as carrot. Then if you could get a doctor to help, then get Naloxone and take it every day until your happy day. (And always take the opiate blocker first thing in the morning before you start thinking of drugs!)

Totally agree. That is pretty much how I conduct my recovery, as well, but believe it or not this idea about recovery is still pretty ill received around here. Even some of the cooler people like uncleunicorn have suggested that I might try an NA meeting, not that they really meant anything bad by it just that it was the default advice for anyone who is concerned because there really isn't anything better. We are already part of some paradigm breaking shit and we need to stop clinging to some of these old ideolgies and break all paradigms forever for eternity alpha to omega oroboros incorporated.

You are a crazy fucker dreamdomofkings I hope you die and live forever I hope you die and live forever because I hate you

I know where you're coming from. When I was a lot younger I used to attend NA meetings. There was a guy there I was friendly with, he told me not to try and give up everything as you will fail, you need to allow yourself some pleasures.

Personally I've never been sober more than 2 weeks since I was a young teenager. I steered with budd, then got a serious E problem. As an early adult I reverted back to budd daily until my mid twenties. Now, as a dad to a young family of 4 my poison is alcohol but I'll only drink once or twice a week and I have to strictly limit how much I buy so I don't get too drunk.

If I didn't have kids who knows how my life would be now. With me, I need an altered state of mind so that I can feel normal, maybe I have a problem but sobriety for anymore than a week is not an option for me. The odd time, maybe at Halloween or a party I'll be offered a line of something and I'll take it but I don't buy anymore because I know where that'll lead me.
