I'm not torrenting over Tor, but is it safe to leave the uTorrent application open while browsing the Tor network?
Safe to leave uTorrent open while connected to Tor?

honestly you shouldnt have ANY other programs open when you're using Tor. What if there is a zero day like heartbleed that exposes your memory contents? then they could easily look through other open programs and connections to figure out who you really are. but im just being overly paranoid, its prob fine, reallly depends what level of anon you are going for...

Yes, as long as it's 3.1 or higher, when they started adding bloat to their "tiny/minimal torrent client".
Seriously though, are you fucking stupid? Do you really need that DL to complete that soon, or to keep your ratio up that bad you can't boot into tails or at least stop everything else?

I hope it is as I do this all the time!

I don't see any security risk with that. Any particular vector you are concerned about?

You should ditch utorrent and check out qbittorrent or transmission. Not for opsec reasons really, but they are way better than utorrent, adware free and open source.
Either way it doesn't matter if you run torrents while using tor.
