The 144,000 Bitcoins originally seized from SR1 would be worth over $2 billion today.

This is with the current price of $14,200 a BTC. When it was around $19,000/BTC, it would've been a whopping $2.7 billion. Link

According to Forbes Billionares list, he'd (EDIT: Ross, you guys know who I meant though.) be around the 1,000th richest person in the world.

Man... if only he could've kept his coins.

LE should have HODL'd!!

On a more serious note, does anyone know if you could sell $2.7B worth of BTC now without tanking the price?

Early September I lost my written seed for my electrum wallet and couldn't access to my wallet. I felt like I flushed my money down the toilet.

There was about ~$700 in there.

I found my written seed while I was packing up to go home for christmas.

I checked my wallet.

Holy Shit.

If I had a satoshi for every time I've read this, I'd have over that amount today

Lily Allen was once offered 200,000btc for a gig. Which she declined.

Most Feds new this that's why people like Carl mark force and Shaun bridges would pocket bitcoin during the seizure

I'm glad LE has weak hands and sold right away.

I know the FBI auctioned off those bitcoins, but does anyone know who bought it?

[2 Points] henderdoggy:

I don't really like tidbits like this because they're misleading.

If the silk road was seized today, the amount of bitcoins seized would be proportional to their income (a lot less than $2 billion). Also, it means he would have had to held onto those coins all this time and not sell them off. Selling them off would flood the market with bitcoins driving down the price. It's because they were held and not sold (by LE) that help add to the scarcity/value. 144k bitcoins out of 21 million (the maximum number of bitcoins that will ever exist) is not an insignificant percentage; it is more than enough to sway the entire market/landscape.
