[CommunityDiscussion] Finalizing early for a vendor who does not ask for it

I generally avoid FE-only vendors because they tend to ship more slowly; there's no incentive to get out the product quickly if the customer has already released coins and the likelihood of being left negative feedback is low. In addition, most of the vendor exit scams I've seen have been made by FE only vendors.

I do, however, finalize early for vendors with whom I've had a consistently positive experience. This is without the expectation of a cheaper price or extras. I find vendors who allow escrow to be professional and fast, and I feel that rewarding them with immediate money on hand and heightened security is a good thing. Vendors get to avoid both BTC fluctuation and most of the brunt of a market exit scam. Does anyone else do this? Is it a reasonable practice? I've found many vendors to be wonderful people and would like to reward them for their good service. I don't think it's likely for them to exit scam if the majority of their orders are in escrow.

I never FE when not required. Many more vendors have FE scammed than there have been sites that have stolen escrow funds in the time between I've placed an order and released funds from escrow after receiving/testing the product.

You would think this was common, but most vendors will tell you it's not the case. Most people order then never log back on forcing the vendor to wait for auto-finalization.

I always FE with a handful of regular vendors that don't require it.

I'm not talking fly-by-night vendors...only to those that I have been using for quite a while.

It usually leads to preferred service percs in my experience. Extras, quicker shipping, etc...

I also avoid buying from vendors who demand FE - the only exception to this would be if they offered a product at an exceptionally good price AND are a well established vendor with good reputation and a reasonable amount of RECENT (within 7 days) positive feedback for the product in question. But generally as soon as I see that a listing is FE only & from a vendor I haven't used before I will look elsewhere.

For vendors I order from regularly and trust I have no problem FE provided offer express post and have a history of delivery occurring within 24 - 48 hours.

If they don't offer express post (here in Australia express post means next business day delivery for the majority of major towns & cities, so quite often delivery is between 14hrs - 30hrs) I definitely will not FE and more often than not I will avoid ordering from them at all - normal post takes anywhere from 2 - 7+ business days & there's no tracking number available, meaning both vendors and buyers are at risk of being scammed by each other - i.e. vendor does not send anything at all, claims it must have been lost in transit & no way to prove otherwise OR buyer claims order was never received, vendor has no way of confirming if this is true.

Pretty much any time I order anything physical it must be sent via express post, vendor must confirm they are in next day delivery area & escrow must be available (if not ordering from a trusted vendor). If a vendor meets the above criteria I am happy to purchase; though they can expect to receive a message asking for tracking info if order is not received when it should be. If a vendor is marking orders as shipped when in fact they have not been shipped (can find this from tracking info) then I will not order from them again.

It's probably obvious from this that I don't like having orders in the hands of Australia Post for too long as I constantly worry about whether or not it's been seized/lost if it doesn't arrive on time. After AusPost lost an order of mine (tracking showed it was delivered to correct address) I now very rarely order from vendors who do not offer next day delivery.

In return, I ensure I release escrow within 60 minutes of delivery and leave great feedback for their service. If after several more orders things are still going good I am happy to FE.

It's such a dick move to let it auto-finalize. I always finilize same day and review cause I'm to excited not to.

I must say, working 11-12 hour days, combined with Agora downtime, I sometimes can't finalize for 2-4 days or more. However whenever I have gone close to 1 week before finalizing, I always apologize, and will FE on the next order, if I was satisfied with the previous order(s),

Unless the BTC rate skyrockets, then I obviously claim non receipt (JOKES! I could never do that. Ive only had 1 dispute out of around 40 dnm purchases, and that was because the vendor Died(no jokes. And I won the dispute despite FE'ing)

I did this up until a couple months ago when Medex ran off with the coins that I had FE'd voluntarily.. I had 7 previous orders with him, and the 8th that I FE'd never showed, and he apparently got 8-10 other buyers as well. Could very well have had his packages profiled though, as he had told me stories of one of his employees being arrested at the post office.

I personally don't FE, even for trusted vendors (I was around for the Tony76 scandal, and it put me off for life).

My opinion on the subject is if you have to FE, don't FE more than you are willing to write off, regardless of who the vendor is.

You are right though, most if not all, exit scams do involve FE.
