Taking controlled prescription drugs (for which you don't have a prescription) on an international flight.

How risky do you think this if travelling to the US or the average European country? I wouldn't do this for countries in the Middle East. And I wouldn't take Adderall to Japan (even WITH a prescription you could be in serious trouble).

I've often carried controlled prescription drugs (e.g. dexamfetamine or xanax) on international flights and many times didn't have a copy of my prescription with me (stupid I know) but I HAD legitimately been prescribed those medicines so didn't even think about it.

I'm a bit more nervous doing this with tablets that I obtained through the DNM (I'm talking about genuine pharma meds in blister packs here and in very small quantities). My gut feeling is that it's massively unlikely it would ever cause a problem. Never once have I been asked to show a copy of my prescription.

But I still wanted to get some views on this (meds would be Hydrocodone or similar).

I smuggled a quarter of some cannabis from baltimore to nc in my underwear when I was 15 which was almost 20 years ago. We need a resident TSA agent on here because this question is asked a lot here. If you have the meds a in pill bottle that has your name on it its not like they go through your prescriptions and check to see and test said medications. I also smuggled once over 150 ambien and about 100 tramadol from Kuwait to the east coast united states that I had snatched from the clinics pharmacy where I was deployed to. That time I just left them in my pocket. I went through kuwaits international airport and a east coast airport. 0 problems. That 17 hour flight turned into a 17 hour fog lol plus I took two 10 mg ambien two shots of jack after getting out of the middle east after being dry for 9 months hunting down terrorizers. The way I see it. Keep the drugs near your nuts if you are really worried qbout it because dogs wont smell them and they will not set off any metal detectors.

I've travelled with norco in many states in the US as well as many countries in Europe. Its never been an issue. TSA and foreign equivalents generally aren't looking for drugs, and certainly don't give prescription pills a second glance. If you were travelling with powders or weed, I'd be more concerned, but if you have pills, not an issue.

I kept the pills in my carry on bags. I just answered a similar question yesterday, but last year I traveled to various countries in Europe for 30 days. I have a healthy norco habit, so had about 300 norcos on me, plus ambien, plus muscle relaxers, plus a shitload of vitamins that I take. Some pills were in marked pill bottles, many in traveller pill containers. The pills never presented an issue in my travels. I did get pull aside in Germany for further inspection but it was only b/c I had a case of gatorade I was carrying on with me. The germans apparently had no clue what Gatorade was. They checked me for bombs, used those hand scanner things, and even put the gatorade in one. They let me go BUT they did remark that I was bringing a lot of pills and laughed about it.

My advice only pertains to domestic US travel and travel to the standard European countries (germany, france, spain, italy, etc). Doesn't apply to countries that take a very dim view on drugs of any sort (middle east).

Hint: Print out a fake prescription label

Just curious, what do you mean by having to show you script? Like just the pill bottle with your name on it?

Feel like if you have a shit ton of pills in a prescription bottle with your name for like idk sleep meds or something they wouldn't have the time to take them out and check to see if that's what they were

People often bring back tons of medicines from countries like India and stuff, never presents an issue. There are vendors that can give you fake pill bottle labels/prescriptions so you can carry them, and simply say you have a few months supply bc of your trips length

True that it is unlikely you will get caught. But the consequences for being caught are so high that I would never risk this.
