Another Netherlands ecstasy (tabs) package ends with controlled delivery and arrest. Philippines edition.

Yet another NL package of ecstasy, this time tablets, ends in disaster.

P3 million worth of ecstasy seized

THE BUREAU of Customs (BoC) has seized P3 million worth of ecstasy and nabbed the suspect that attempted to bring illegal substances into the country. In a statement, the agency said its Enforcement Group steered the "controlled delivery" of the ecstasy that led to the arrest of its claimant in Paco, Manila, last May 24.

"Acting based on derogatory information, the bureau's special illegal drug apprehension team, Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF) went immediately to the Manila Post Office to confirm the arrival of 2,009 pieces of orange tablets from the Netherlands," BoC said in its press release.

"CAIDTF officers forwarded sample substance to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for verification that positively identified the presence of three methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) -- a dangerous drug under R.A. 9165," it added.

The CAIDTF officers then coordinated a "controlled delivery" operation with PDEA to monitor the delivery from the post office to its ultimate consignee/recipient.

The operation, BoC said, was carried out to pin down and prosecute those directly involved in drug trafficking.

"Our accomplishments and good performance on anti-drug operations are clear manifestations of our commitment to eradicate illegal drugs, which fortunately, is in line with one of the programs of the incoming president, Rodrigo [R.] Duterte," Customs Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement Ariel F. Nepomuceno said in the statement, adding that he also "welcomes" whoever will be appointed to take over his position under the new administration.

"I have already made a preliminary report to the office of the new Commissioner containing all the programs, proposals, and recommendations of the Enforcement Group. I would also coordinate personally with my replacement on all details of these plans in order to ensure a seamless turnover of existing and planned groups," he said.

The BoC unit said it outperformed 59 other national law enforcement agencies and the BoC was named as the number one drug-busting agency in the country.

P3-M ecstasy seized

Two-thousand nine suspected ecstasy tablets valued at P3 million shipped from the Netherlands through door-to-door delivery have been seized in an anti-drug operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force in Paco, Manila.

Customs Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement Ariel Nepomuceno yesterday said the CAIDTF under the supervision of the Customs Enforcement Group received information that a package of orange ecstacy tablets recently arrived in the country.

They went to the Manila Post Office and coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for a controlled delivery operation to monitor the transport of the illegal drugs from the post office to its real claimant.

"This controlled delivery operation was carried out and is consistent with the direction of the Enforcement Group to pin down and prosecute those directly involved in drug trafficking instead of just the usual bogus consignees," it said.

Members of the CAIDTF placed the recipient, identified as Sandra Nebrida, under arrest after she received the prohibited drugs. (Raymund F. Antonio)

It must be scary for these unlucky folks since the Philippines newly elected president has recently been proclaiming publicly that it is Filipinos' duty to extra-judicially kill drug dealers!

Considering this gem was a quote from the President there I think they are fucked.

If you're still into drugs, I will kill you, don't take this as a joke. I'm not trying to make you laugh, son of a bitch, I will really kill you,” Duterte said

The title makes it seem like this was intercepted because it was from the Netherlands, but if I'm correct this was just a small case in a major operation, right?
