Lurker here and I'm genuinely curious as to why mentioning Monero at least here will attract all kinds of very negative opinions usually not backed by facts.
I would have understood this if we'd rewind a couple of months but a lot has happened since then and I have been watching its growth for a month and I'm as sure as I've ever been that Monero is here to stay.
Volatility is probably reason 123 for people not liking it but it is getting better by the day and in the end the thing that will fix that. I think people here need to wake up because Monero is clearly not going away.
If you have a contrary opinion I welcome discussion.
I fucking love Monero, it's all I use. Many people seem to be against it because of all the AB and Oasis pump and dump rumors, whether or not that's true is up for speculation but I don't think it should even matter. The people behind Monero don't have anything to do with it. Head over to r/Monero and check out their github and IRC, they will be happy to answer any questions you may have. They are a highly active group of developers working on an open source project for a truly fungible currency. You don't even need to be interested in Monero for the DNM part, its features (ASIC mining resistance) make it a valuable asset to have in the cryptocurrency world.
Monero has issues. Lack of multi-sig, the GUI is in beta (which is super slick and fast btw) and it has a lot of maturing to do before it can considered a stable currency. These are all reasons to get interested in the Monero project, not to stay away completely.
