Are Bitcoin ATMs Anonymous?

I have to buy a lot of bitcoin and I'm trying to figure out the most anonymous way while keeping it simple. Localbitcoins is a no go because I use TOR, also I'd prefer not to meet with anyone. I bought an Amazon giftcard to test Paxful out and the only offers were like $11 worth of bitcoin for the $100 giftcard, so I'm not down with that either.

So what about bitcoin ATMs? Do I need to input any personal info or just insert cash and type in the wallet address I want to BTC sent to?

You're on camera - be that what it is

And you merely give it an address to send coins to; so if that wallet is identifiable, then you're boned.

That's it.

The ones around me scan the barcode on the back of your photo ID every time you log in to the system and also get a picture of you holding the card the first time you buy.

i always buy from bitcoin ATM’s. If you’re buying under $1500 worth of coin they only require you to verify your number and give them a street address. Anything above that you have to us a government ID. As for it being anonymous, just use a burner phone number and fake address and you should be good.

Why not meet with someone on LBC?

I always use ATMs. Never had to show ID, and the only camera wont even reach your face so unless youre like 4'5 you wont be recognizable. I put $600 in and got 550 worth of btc. Just show the camera your btc wallet and start depositing.

You have to be aware that if you are of enough interest for LE, they are going to be looking for tapes at the store where you bought the bitcoins and tapes around the area to look up for the license plate of your vehicle. Assuming that there are not surveillance cameras there, you just used your smart phone to get your bitcoins, with an app that you download using your Google or Apple account, which is linked to your identity. I won't recommend transfer those bitcoins straight to the market just because your bought them "anonymously" at the ATM.

If you don't want to be transferring bitcoins from one wallet to another in order to wash your bitcoins, I would advise you to don't even bother in download a wallet in your phone; smart phones are the weakest link of your OpSec. Instead, you can follow this steps: 1) Download a wallet and set it up over VPN on your operating system. 2) Take a picture of the QR code of that wallet. 3) Show that picture to the ATM at time of transfering the bitcoins. 4) Set up a wallet on your Tails (remember to use persistent volume) 5) Send the bitcoins over VPN from your operating system to Tails.

lol @ can't use LBC because you use Tor.

You have to buy a lot of bitcoin who the hell cares? It's not illegal to buy Bitcoin. If you're planning on using a lot of Bitcoin to buy a lot of drugs. STOP you're too stupid.

I decided I'm gonna buy a small amount using my real identity if I have to and scope things out. Then decide from there how I'll go about doing it anonymously.

This type of question is entirely dependent on the context of your personal situation. ATMs will require different pieces of information depending on the state/country you are in and the amounts you are talking about. How much is a lot of bitcoin?

I would not consider an ATM to be safe enough to use generally speaking if I were a vendor or buying distribution amounts from the markets. If you aren't a HVT and you are simply enhancing your privacy with your personal usage drug quantities, an ATM would work fine to source your coins. Just make sure you handle the coins properly (mixing/obscuring source/not sending directly to market/etc) after purchasing.

If you are essentially making income from your activities, find a more private and secure method to acquire bitcoin. ATMs have cameras, often the surrounding area has cameras, some require ID, and so forth. If you are generating income from DNM activities, spend the time to find more private and secure ways to source your coin. But if just a personal buyer and want to maintain proper opsec, an ATM is a fine alternative as long as you follow proper OPSEC after acquiring the coin.

Cheers.

This kid is such a big time drug dealer he thinks the FBI is going to higher computer forensic experts to monitor the blockchain and figure out who bought those 0.01 bitcoins.
