Why does tumbling cost so much? 2.5% is more than some markets charge

I would expect tumblers to take a fraction of a percent off but the most popular tumblers charge 2.5% and up.

They are taking less risk and take money from money going to every market.

People think that the markets are doing well but the tumbling service is probably much bigger.

Not everyone tumbles. The markets get on average 4% of EVERY transaction

People running tumblers are committing money laundering, a crime which is very, very illegal. In exchange for risking jail time they want a 2.5% fee. You're paying them for their risk. Seems fair if you ask me.

[1 Points] InconvenientIdeals:

Would you expect them to make less? They don't. Personally I think having as a random example, 10k safely anonymized is well worth the fee for their reliable and illegal service. Anything up to 5% I'd happily pay as long as it worked well and didn't steal my shit.

I believe they usually operate on a randomized sliding scale of percentage though. It depends. I was messing with Payshield a while back and was pretty satisfied and I barely noticed whatever they kept being gone.

you can get essentially the same results just by popping your coins on another trusted site's wallet, say, primedice, give em an on-the-spot dicespin if you're so inclined, then withdraw your coins to another wallet. bam, blockchain link broken. someone must've stolen your primedice account and taken all of your money...

[1 Points] DexOyama:

so you gon start a tumbling service ?

[1 Points] druggieslut:

You have to have a large amount of bitcoin to do it. Bitcoin could crash tomorrow and they'd have very little to cash out. They deserve their profit.

[1 Points] earthmoonsun:

i think outlaw only charges 1%

[1 Points] FrozenMCVegetableCok:

Real life people in need of laundering services would KILL for a 2.5% rate. 15 to 20 points isn't unheard of on the street if you're not setting up your own fronts.

Cleaning cash IRL, if you know someone who can do it for you properly, usually is ~7% so 2.5% to clean coins sound perfectly fair and reasonable. Then again IRL money cleaners are for the most part very professional and already have the infrastructure required to clean those funds.
