What gives the United States government such rights?

Why can the United states government seize a darknet site based in another region of the world under different governing laws? I would understand if they were like "hey thats illegal here I'm going to ban americans from using this site" but they are like "hey thats illegal here, I'm going to screw over the whole world." (But of course we are all law abiding citizens who just enjoy their privacy on a market filled with their peers.)

In international politics, one has such rights as one takes or is given. Don't over think it. U. S. asked. Other country complied.

US Government was granted the right to take off-shore servers to prosecute people a while back.

For one, an American ran this site and simply hosting it overseas is not protection from prosecution. Secondly, it appears they had cooperation from the other countries, so there's that. Why did other countries cooperate? Well, the US is still the most powerful nation on the planet that can pull a lot of strings via money and pure strength.

This operation is actually far less evasive than other drug wars. Think the cartels in South America. We had CIA, DEA, FBI, military in another country physically fighting the cartels along with prodding local law enforcement. Same in Mexico. Hell the government sent guns to Mexico via a government sanctioned program - Fast & Furious.

Really, the question on why is irrelevant. Just know that they can and will exercise power where they need and want to. I guess it can be asked from a philosophical standpoint and we can go back and forth on the ethics of it. Its just the way it is and I don't see that changing.

We live on Earth. Earth has limited resources. We are organisms struggling to survive and compete for these resources. 99.999999999% of every problem you see is is an extension of this simple fact.

This was an international effort involving many foreign countries.

Aside from all the other points, I recommend reading Confessions of an Economic Hitman, gets into the real dirt of the long and nasty tendrils of the USA's as well as the world bank's global dominance, at any cost.

What gave them the right the start the war on drugs in the first place and force other UN countries to sign up to it = there power and influence they would say i imagine. I dont quite get why they would go for dnms tho there is surely something much more harmful they could bust in less time, perhaps the police were just pissed off with the way sr2 launched and basically said 'come at me bro' to them with all the interviews and claims they could be back up in 5 mins
