Traditional burner phone or a burner android with signal on it?

So I'm at the point in reselling where I believe I need a burner phone. Now I saw someone recommend getting an android and using Signal in an older post on here I believe. What would you guys recommend?

I like Signal because you can set messages to auto delete after just a few seconds and if LE subpoena's Whisper Systems they have nothing of value to give them as they don't store users messages. So if a customer gets caught they can't just snitch on me and hand over the text messages, they would have to set me up and hopefully by that point I should know that they've been busted, if not it at least gives me a chance to realize that something is fishy. The downside to this is that I've read that all smartphones have GPS location avaliable to the phone company/LE at all times. With a traditional burner phone they can only triangulate your position. However you aren't supposed to be using your burner at your home or places you frequent anyways so would GPS really make a difference?

Smart phones can still be used as a burner, it just takes a bit more work. Here is a detailed guide for setting up an anonymous Signal burner: https://yawnbox.com/index.php/2015/03/14/create-an-anonymous-textsecure-and-redphone-phone-number/

I would go with 2 tin cans & a string for the strongest OPSEC when doing illegal shit IRL ;-)

Check this out, I'm so crazy with my burner I'll refuse to plug it to the wall or computer to charge, I only use a generator...

If you go with a smartphone, be aware to never let it see yours or any of your friends' wifi routers and don't ever charge it using a computer (always use a wall plug). As soon as a smartphone connects to a computer or network for the first time, it leaves a digital fingerprint that can be traced back. It would be much safer to go with an older brick-style nokia tracphone if you can find one.

This is essentially correct. As long as there is power running through the circuits, your phone company and LE can get a GPS location.

Major ARM processor vendors include backdoors in their stock roms, in their firmware and in their SoC (system on chip), there was a scandal of mediatek taking screenshots of users phones and sending them to their servers, a burner dumb phone would be much better.

I much prefer Wickr. The problem with Signal is that you must have a phone number. You can't use Signal on your burner phone on your home wifi so you have to go somewhere to use anon wifi. For me this is a non starter. Wickr allows me to use it on my regular cell phone on my home wifi (with VPN) which is much more convenient. Yes, I know Wickr is not open source but I have never heard of busts cuz someone used Wickr. I use Tutanota for email.

Edit: I can sit at home and check incoming Wickr messages but with Signal I have to go out to use it so it is hard to check incoming messages more than a couple times per day. Wickr allows me to get/send messages anytime.

They can still do this since the messages are on their phone. You have to trust them to set up the messages being deleted. Best just to not let your customers text incriminating things.

I use a burner android with Silence with the android system encryption turned on. It's an open source fork or signal when it was still using text messaging. Much more useful I find since not every one has data or access to wifi at all times. Much better for the dealer on the go and you can still have Signal to round things out. A phone company cannot just turn on your GPS, as long as you have it disabled you'll be fine.

I would highly recommend not setting as you have absolutely no need for it and are only building a profile with Google. You can put apps onto the phone with USB or Bluetooth.

Buy that Samsung phone for $150 USD - it is fast & has decent memory space

Is Signal still SMS or does it require people/numbers to sign up (kind of like Whatsapp)?

Also anyway to do this with iOS? Or is it not very secure
