Bitmarkets is a decentralized marketplace platform for OSX built on bitmessage, bitcoin, and Tor. Transactions are secured using a 2-party bonded escrow system, removing the need for any third-party arbitrators to either hold funds or act as a signer on a multi-sig transaction. Because transactions are secured using crypto-economics/ game theory, there is no need for a reputation system either: buyers either like the product and release the funds (BTC to pay for the item and each of the bonds), or the seller scams the buyer and loses the sale proceeds and their bond. If a seller continually rips people off with bad quality or no product, they will quickly go bankrupt.
One of the creators of this software explains in more detail how the system works in a recent interview. They have some other interesting darknet projects too. Bitmarkets in particular seems more relevant now than ever. What do you think?
well first of all i dont like it being osx exclusive despite being an apple user, but it seems interesting
