So I loved EIC, they were doing everything right.
Autowithdraw
Chat box
Live support usually
Stupid Easy true multisig and TIME LOCK
Now they go offline and I hear an admin made a statement of some kind on the forums?
But but I'm too sketched out to even go to the site for fear of an exploit type NIT and somehow revealing my true IP.
Can anyone tell the community what was said on the forums or provide any 2nd hand info?
Obviously until something is said, signed, and explained we should probably all treat it as compromised for safety's sake and not even be logging in. See the recent pedo bust and their use of an NIT for an example why not.
Just putting up their usual "seized" banner doesn't do much so why not run the site for a few days and see if you can decloak some big named vendors who log in to try to pull out coin right?
Anyways aside from the "they exit scamming, honeydick pot, etc" comments what's to be done to verify its safety? Seems they would have issued an official statement immediately after going offline for over a week and knowing what everyone would suspect
As much as I love EIC I do think it is over.
This is not some rushed conclusion or FUD I am trying to spread.
Please just look at the facts:
Admins where very responsive and active until the site went offline. They updated us about issues in the past.
Despite the site coming online yesterday there has not been an update. Their support staff has not been updated on the situation and withdrawals and deposits are not working.
I was able to withdraw 5+ BTC an hour before EIC went offline. Usually their front end server lags behind their backend, and the wallet balance stays visible for a while. When EIC came back online my 5+ BTC where still in my market wallet, making me come to the conclusion that their backend bitcoind server is either out of sync or not connected at all.
My full conclusion from this is that EIC's current situation is extremely bad and the market should not be trusted. Admins with a focus on fast responses, customer support and frequent updates don't just go missing for a week, reappear and let the site floating without even updating their core staff team.
I doubt this is an exit scam, everything seems to point that the dev/admin just ran off or that the servers have been seized. EIC being online right now may just be one of their front end servers coming back into rotation automatically, which would be a very good idea and implementation by the admins for a possible dead mans switch in the very case of a seizure or arrest so people can finalize their multi-sig orders.
Also....prior to going offline their Administration was incredibly professional and very reliable. They would not just turn the site online and keep their staff in the dark. This type of silence is almost unprecedented in market downtimes; even shittier markets in the past did update their users. EIC suddenly doing a 180 on their entire customer and vendor "satisfaction" model is as bad as it can get if anyone would need a sign.
