Open Bazaar 2 has been released.

As the centralized darknet market scene is collapsing anyway at the moment it is finally time to move forward. Centralized markets have so many weaknesses. And we know them for such a long time. The future is now. Open Bazaar 2 has been released.

Well if vendors start jumping over there so will buyers. Change isn't easy especially when with such an engraved part of this whole DNM scene being market sites that go up and down.

Part of me wants to be skeptical just because but the other part of me knows this is the future. Very conflicted.

Cool beans

Does it still use BTC or Shapeshift? That for me was a weak link.

[4 Points] Hixhen:

Can you use this with tails? If so is there a way to keep it installed with the persistent volume?

[7 Points] None:

This is great please everyone use OB2. Thank you.

[3 Points] skeetskeet98:

damn, we need to get people on board. now if only there were a comprehensive setup guide to get this integrated with tails....

Hi all, I'm a dark net market researcher (https://www.coindesk.com/welcome-bitcoin-country-silk-road-lost-threads-agorism/) and I'm also writing a paper on OB for the Mercatus Centre. I still don't understand why you all are not using OB, not that I would encourage such things.

[1 Points] MDAzing:

Just tried to install this, I opted for it to utilize tor, and its asking me for a TOR password now? What?

When i ignore that and try to continue, it fails to connect to the build in server. What am i doing wrong? The video on the DL site skips right over this part

edit: watched the video showing you how to create a hashed PW, but my torrc file did not look like his in the video. Also, when he copied pasted into the torrc file the text he inputted is different than what is currently available in the text guide that they have on their site. very confusing

Second question, do i even need to configure it with TOR if i am using an IP hiding service? From my understanding thats all i need to remain anonymous on this program

[1 Points] lordredvampire:

OB 2.0 is very, very slow over TOR network for some odd reason.

[1 Points] mrfloridamolly99:

I'd give it a bit to work out any kinks first

[1 Points] LeafyBuds:

this shit seems sketchy to me. you can put too much personal information on it. itsnt the point to be anonymous...?

[0 Points] Burn_all_gays:

it's compromised by the CIA

Edit: see edit.

I am wondering if LEO will try to bust simple users/buyers(not vendors) running this with Criminal Enterprise charges now that they can say something like "The user was involved in hosting the store."

I really hope not, I don't think they ever tried that route with Kazaa and similar but if they take it that way to a judge, I can see a tech illiterate judge going along with it.

If they can bust simple personal use buyers with RICO charges I can see that being a very strong deterrent for users.

Any lawyers in here know if they could try this or not?

Edit: After re-reading this I wanna apologize as I feel its FUD. While I personally doubt RICO charges could be used I do legitimately wonder what changes it might bring. Seriously I would not be surprised at all to see buyers get at least harsher sentences from tech illiterate judge(and juries) just because the words "they helped run the site" could be used. I think I am going to post around and see if I can get an actual lawyer to explain if theres any new dangers we should be aware of in using it.
