Can you tell if your phone is being tapped?

I'm wondering of strange noises during cell phone calls and general weird activity on my phone could be signs of LE listing to my phone. Some IRL shit went down lately I don't want to go into detail so LE would be interested in putting resources to me. If I had to guess is that all LE surveillance software is probably undetectable I'm just wondering if anyone has any better knoledge on this subject edit: I use a burner phone too but it's just my main phone is acting weird. I think they're tapping the only one they know I got

wasnt it proven that all gsm/cmda carriers in usa are giving phone data to NSA?? I thought we already know this.

thats why you get a new trapper phone monthly.

Unless youre moving WEIGHT then you're being too paranoid. If you are by definition an illegal drug dealer then you need a cheap burner phone, especially when something sketchy is happening. Youre holding evidence right now

Btw i capitalized weight because i mean serious weight

The only real way to test for bugs is to put the phone in the microwave for 30 seconds. If the start up screen flashes twice after you start it up after the microwave diagnostic, then you've got a bug.

Theoretically, no, there's no reason that they can't make it totally undetectable. There are a few different possible mechanisms that they could use to do that (malware on the phone, a digital re-routing of the the voice data from the carrier, etc.).

Practically, however, I have had a couple of friends whose phones have been tapped, and at least for one of them, it was pretty obvious. Long delays before it started ringing, somewhat diminished audio quality, unusual clicks and pops (not often, but perhaps once or twice per conversation), etc. This was within the last two years, when the technology for less detectable taps was definitely available, so it seems like they still have to squeeze their budgets a little bit and sometimes opt for the cheap ways. I wonder if this may have been an IMSI catcher (stingray) device in use, it would probably fit the bill.

But I wouldn't count on any of this to actually tell you one way or another.

Follow this when setting up your burner- http://www.reddit.com/r/AskNetsec/comments/35j1uc/looking_for_tutorials_and_any_added_information/

Use Redphone/Textsecure for Android or Signal for iPhone. It's easy to use and it's free.

I'd Highly suggest to you, that you get a burner phone if you are moving product irl.

Wiretaps cost a lot of money and paperwork, they don't happen often, only 3k a year in America, TV and movies lie etc.

All phones are tapped. Recording space is cheap. DHS records everything, they have offices in all major phone company hubs.

Feds only tap your phone if you're moving weight or involved in some mafia type shit.

If you're moving pounds you should get a burner phone AND get a new one every MONTH. If the feds are tapping your burner and you get a new one it takes time for them to get a judge to approve a new order to tap your phone. By thr time the new order is approved you're on to the next phone.

Never conduct business on your personal phone and never talk about drugs in text messages. If you do this you will not have any problems.

One tell tale sign is if you notice your phone is hot (as if you had been using A LOT of resources for hours or left it in the sun for too long) when you're not using it or haven't been using it in a while.

Basically that tells you something is using a ton of resources on your phone without your input which is usually malicious code forcing your phone to transmit everything its hearing as if its a phone call, i.e. being tapped.

Sorry if I angered some autists with listing a symptom of a cell phone tap that is from malware. Sorry I didn't talk about taps that involve actual calls being intercepted.
