Help: I placed a large order ($600) and the tracking # says the package couldn't be delivered and is being returned to sender. The vendor says this is a "big problem", that I should call the post office, and that the return address is fake

Hello,

Upon request the vendor PM'd me the tracking number. The tracker on Deutsche Post says that the package could not be delivered and is being returned to sender. Note that I've always received ALL packages and never had any problems.

I contacted the vendor and he did not reply. I wrote to him again the next day, and on the 3rd day he replied that I should "call the post office" and that this is a "big problem" as the return address is not valid.

I have a few questions for you:

After three days, that thing is already on the way back to its fake address. Fake addresses are a known flag for illicit dealings.

I'd say do not call over this. There's nothing good that can come of that after three days of it being headed back to "sender." Dispute it. As long as there was no error on your part with the address you gave him, not your fault the delivery went wonky.

And if they open that package.. your address might be burned/monitored afterwards.

calling the post office only really works if the package is still somewhere out on the truck/at the post office. after 3 days i would assume they've already sent it wherever, they're not going to hold onto it. I've had this happen before and called the post office that day and they told me they just screwed up and brought it over later that day. sorry but don't think there's much you can do about the pack now.

Clean house and brace yourself, leave no traces of the order or any drugs at your home for the next few months, more the better

If it does get opened and informed to LE they will be watching you.

Screw the $600 that's least of your troubles atm with potential LE involvement on the horizon.

will the dispute go in my favor? Will they at least refund 50% of the money?

Depends on support, vendor's rules and evidences you and vendor have.

I wouldn't call the post office, if anything you'll just bring more attention to a package that seems like it's already going to have attention brought to it, and you'll lose the plausible deniability.

Clean house, don't talk to any cops - maybe speak with a lawyer...

[1 Points] None:

Dispute it.

TIL a large order is only $600
