Departed USPS Destination Facility

If it says departed destination facility, does that mean it's the facility near the place the package is being sent to? Because my tracking says that but it's a completely different city/state. I was thinking any day it would get here, but it just kept saying it was in transit for 3 days. Finally updated tonight to tell me its in a completely different place, when I was hoping it was finally in my state. This order is literally taking twice as long as it has in the past. From Canada to US, but still I usually get it within 5 days.

Destination sort facility....destination....think about it...ok....think about it some more you'll get it, your almost there......yes it should be the closest sort facility to destination post office it will go out for delivery from

Is the zip near by or far away?

Sounds like he gave you the wrong tracking number for someone elses order. Its highly unlikely usps is having mail sorted in one state to be delivered in another state lol

My state alone has multiple sorting facilityies for one state.

Its more likely he gave you someone elses tracking number either on purpose to stall or accidentally, then it is that usps misrouted the package

packages get mis-routed and sent to the wrong end of the country all the time. some overworked sort worker probably just threw it in the wrong bin. give it a day or two and it will most likely get back on track.

to answer your question, though. yes, that is generally what that means. if your tracking page says "departed destination sort facility," that should mean that your package is on it's way to your local post office.
