Risk of buying guns through the mail? [Armory]

Its legal in my state to have a gun without registertration (USA) but is it illegal still to get guns mailed to you from out of state? instate? Are LEO allowed to sell guns? Why have so many gun vendors got arrested?

From a 100% legal standpoint: It's illegal to mail a firearm via USPS, and UPS only accepts valid FFL locations.
This means unless you have a FFL you cannot have a gun legally sent to you, regardless of if it originated and terminated in the same state.
Law Enforcement are not allowed to sell guns in an illegal manner (ie Setting up a similar website advertising weapons) and even honeypots are very, very rare with firearms.

For instance, I don't like Tim. I go to TotallyLegitArms.onion and order a gun to his house and pay with my bitcoins, non tumbled.

Tim did not actually order it, it's just his address that is sent. Bitcoins by nature are not going to be easily admissible in court and could not be used to ID the buyer unless severe steps were taken to ensure your identity is not safe.

There is no valid charges that Tim could be charged with.

However, Tim could be lying and this story would be just as valid, pending decent security and anonymity measures.

The above is a broad example and there are legal loopholes and alternatives, but our point is that Law Enforcement has never, at the time and as we are aware of, posed as fake gun dealers to make arrests.

We have had a few LEO buyers, which are somewhat obvious. Eager to mail you money, eager to get your primary BTC address, and ALWAYS requesting to do business outside of escrow. Basically if they were not LEO, they are either lacking in intellect to the point they should not own a firearm, or they are trying to collect information for themselves.

Gun Vendor Arrests

Unfortunately most have not been arrested: they were simply scams.
Exectutive Arms, NorCalArms, Guns & Ammo - they are all scammers that operate outside of markets, escrow, and do not participate in community forums.

That's why we're still here although obscure until BMR died: legitimate weapons dealers don't advertise online, they are known and refereed to.

The only other weapons dealers we compete with online is Sterling Corporate Services, which was born from Executive Arms (the group, not the scammer. Executive Arms website has nothing to do with the South African Group) and operates in Africa and Asia.

We'd suggest posting in BMR forums, but they are dead. Usually there are a few firearms buyers that usually chime in on topics such as these.

I can't answer most of your questions but I can vouch for The Armory. I placed an order and received the tool in a timely fashion with packaging I'd expect for a item such as this. The tool seemed to be exactly as described and the etch job on the serial was out fucking standing.

If your worried about the legalities of the transactions, perhaps buying tools on the DNMs might not be the best option? This is more for people who wish to purchase reliable tools without having ANYTHING linked to them at all. If your not worried about that perhaps contacting your local gunshop with any special requests would be a better option.

The legality of registration, or the lack thereof, varies from state to state. For example when I lived in Florida I was in the military so I was able to buy guns that were banned in California, even though that's my home of record. Bringing these guns back to California could be illegal (the Walther P22 has a Cal version and and an everywhere else version, various 40 S&W hand guns ship with 10 round magazines to Cali and higher capacity magazines to other states, the FNX-45 Tactical will never be legal in California)

Florida does not require firearm registration, New York does. Every US state is different.

When it comes to "silencers", or rather suppressors, the legal landscape varies widely also. They are illegal in California, legal in Florida (with a $200 transfer tax, and pending approval from the ATF. Sorry felons), and they can be freely bought in France since they are viewed as a safety device that protects your hearing.

All shipments must go through a dealer. If you hop on gunbroker, there's advertisements for ffls doing transfers for $25-$150 depending on the item.

It's always illegal to mail firearms direct, with one exception... Black powder weapons are not regulated. If you wanna buy a fuckin blunderbuss and have it shipped directly to you, you can do that.

A lot of gun dealers get busted because they get lazy. They pay postage with credit cards, hide guns inside "broken xbox consoles", ship from the same location, agree to meet in person, build SBS, SBR, AOWs or silencers without registering it with the ATF then pass those guns on, make a shit ton of straw purchases and get noticed. There's a multitude of reasons. All the ones I listed you could've found out after 15 minutes on Google. There's other reasons too, but you'll have to dig for those yourself.
