Who is DDOS'ing Bitcoin websites?

What would their motive be to DDOS?

These are my ideas--

  1. They want to lower the price of bitcoin so they can buy low and wait for it to go up again.

  2. The way the feds DDOS silk road and [I assume] utopia to get a database mirror they are doing the same for these bitcoin websites to find reason to shut down these websites and end bitcoin as we know it.

  3. They are bored kids with resources and time.

Why do you guys think they are DDOS'ing the bitcoin websites?

its not a DDOS its a DOS

also its not bored kids. The reason they are DOSing bitcoins is because of transaction malluability. Head over to /r/bitcoin to figure it out. Basically double spending on Gox (their codes fault). They keep track of the transactions by the transaction ID number but you can basically slow it down then change the hash number in the transaction while keeping the transaction ID the same causing this.

Lots of other exchanges are having this problem some expected this and prepared for it but a lot didnt. Since Gox was the biggest BTC price took a hit.

I think is related to what Satoshi describe in his paper "The system is secure as long as honest nodes collectively control more CPU power than any cooperating group of attacker nodes."

I know 4chan is, they had a plan to sell all their bitcoins and ddos right after to make bitcoin plummet.

I vote 2. The Feds are seeing how far they can go with x resources before the big push to fuck BTC over once and for all.

I hadn't thought about #1 but that's a very interesting idea.

its not the feds i promise you that, everyone gives the feds WAY to much credit they are actually so inefficient. I think its a group of hackers or developers that want free coin, cuase from my understanding there are double spending coin, but what doesnt kill bitcoin makes it stronger! BTC or DIE!
