I bet your favorite movie is either The Big Lebowski or Trainspotting.

Oh GOD I cannot watch the part of Trainspotting where he is kicking. I had to walk out of the room last time I watched it. Been through that too many times. It was a great narrative, and for the laymen it must have seemed pretty extreme, but I have lived that story and then some.
Still entertaining to watch, though. The part in the beginning where sickboy shoots that chic up for the first time, her reaction was masterfully done, seeing as how I have been that guy numerous times. The actress had a pretty genuine reaction, flawless really.

Yeah you got me. I love The Big Lebowski.

they're both definitely good
though favorite is probably Little Miss Sunshine
or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
also really like movies like Scanner Darkly, No Country for Old men, etc but those are more just like, enjoyment, not soul-pleasing like the first two mentioned

Well someone's got to mention Withnail and I. Lebowski second.

You might be onto something. I found this post by searching Lebowski sorted by new...because I just wanted to talk about the big Lebowski.

Sigh. Irvine Welsh shat out too many sequels to Trainspotting: Porno, Glue, Skagboys; all rubbish in comparison. I've actually met him a few times, he reads from his works on occasion. The Big Lebowski is arguably an allegory for segments of the Holy Bible and US foreign policy. It's actually pretty complex for a Coen Brothers film. O' Brother Where Art Thou is a reboot of Homer's Odyssey if you're into that sort of thing.
My favorite films are Kubrickian: (I know, stereotype) 2001: A Space Odyssey or A Clockwork Orange. Dr. Strangelove and Full Metal Jacket are very good as well, but the plot becomes flat after the middle in both films.
You forgot Fear and Loathing
