/r/SilkRoad is now restricted; welcome to /r/DarkNetMarkets

For those of you who are subscribed to /r/SilkRoad and now see redirect screen to this subreddit, we at /r/DarkNetMarkets want to welcome you here.

This was not an easy decision for anyone. We talked it out, and it was decided that in order to discourage use of SilkRoad 2.0, we would change the subreddit to restricted and redirect users to /r/DarkNetMarkets. We believe that SilkRoad is a dying brand that Ross Ulbricht would be ashamed of now. The site has been compromised since before Ross was ever arrested, and is now only a shadow of what is used to be.

We will still allow, heck we'll even encourage, posts about SilkRoad here. If you ever need the link to the site, you can find it on our Wall Of Shame. We hope that those of you who continue to use the site stay with trusted vendors and do everything within your power to stay safe.

For those who were loyal to the SilkRoad brand, we hope that you will check out one of the many, many sites that are located in our sidebar. If you will do a little bit of diligent research, you'll find which market and what vendors suit your needs.

We have retained all information that was on /r/SilkRoad. If you have RES, you can go to the sub and uncheck the "use subreddit style" option, which will enable you to see the sub as it normally looks. If you do not have RES, /u/drugsarentbadmmkay has commented that you can still achieve this by going to your account preferences and unchecking the box that says "allow subreddits to show me custom styles". However, new posts are not allowed. The sub is now for information and historical purposes only.

We hope to see many new subscribers at /r/DarkNetMarkets, and we hope you'll feel comfortable being a part of our community. We are constantly working on ways to make this subreddit conducive not only to safety and learning, but to fun as well.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to comment here. Thanks!

This makes me so sad. We all knew it had to end eventually. :(

Now we have to look to the future, Ross started something great and it will never die. These markets or something similar will be around until legalization of all drugs happens.

Remember friends, be smart and stay safe.

Yes... this is great and all. But I use mobile to read reddit. And I can't see anything to uncheck. All I have is a redirect link.... not good... for the first time mobile traffic is larger than PC Internet traffic. Just this month I think. Anyhow its a current news story. So the plan to uncheck this or that is not going to work for.... well nearly half of the people. Just sayin...

And I just wanted to read the thread "your best silkroad stories". Argh.

Thank god, honestly thank god. (By God I mean "opiates"). That sub was like reading a load of autistic kids screaming and slapping their own heads in unison - only speaking sense in rare moments of clarity.

[8 Points] hateangrypeople:

and here I thought reddit mods only censored news.

[6 Points] pinkprincess1:

Well that solves my problem that I emailled you mod about!

I'm glad you've done this...the sub has gone downhill so badly recently. Hopefully we can get some more intelligent and useful discussions going around here without all the shrills, trolls and 'doxxes'!

Genuinely gutted that it's all over. Episode 3 was going to be another exciting train wreck.

[6 Points] DuckDuckTNT:

The only problem I see is the flood of fucking idiots and trolls that have already made an appearance in this sub coming to DNM.

It's sad that some people simply have to have decisions made for them as their not capable of making intelligent ones themselves. All the intelligent folks moved away from SilkRoad long ago.

Downvote away, I bask in your attention.

Ah well, rest in peace /r/SilkRoad, it was fun but everything has to end and its time has come.

Back to your regular programming folks...ahem...

[2 Points] gr8ape:

Anyone has the link to the forums?

[2 Points] pronger:

There is a treasure trove of useful information in /r/SilkRoad - is that lost forever, or will it be restored once everyone has switched over?

[2 Points] 666fun:

Tow thumbs up for that move

[2 Points] ObamaIzHitla:

Surprised it took you guys 3 months to realize this... Anyway perhaps it would be possible to transpose the guides/wiki section from /r/silkroad? I found them very useful when i was first starting out.

[2 Points] jdb12:

RIP Silk Road, my friend.

[2 Points] None:

That sucks... I need to make an order on SR for the bulk order of mdma and the only guy I would want to go through is on SR. Dont wanna fuck with any other new bullshit vendors.

Worried about my coins not showing up

[2 Points] DrugArentBadMmmkay:

I think its important to note that if you don't have RES installed, the "use subreddit style" box is not an option, and you are forced to view the blacked out redirect page with no way to change it other than to go into your account preferences and uncheck the box that says "allow subreddits to show me custom styles".

[2 Points] None:

I'm trying to look at some old vendor reviews. when i go to the silkroad sub it just gives me a link to the DNMs sub, i don't see a place to uncheck the "use subreddit style" option, can anybody help me out??

[2 Points] purenectar:

Who the fuck are you to decide what markets we utilize? This is outrageous!

Will you return the r/silkroad sub-reddit to it's former settings if the bitcoin gets returned as promised by defcon?

[1 Points] SeaGoose:

Happy for the changes. We understand and are behind you.

[1 Points] BlueShadesTM:

Guess a few tutorials are gonna need to be re-wrote but this is defiantly a move for the better.

Coincidentally I decided to leave silkroad subreddit for what it was and subscribe to this sub just a few days ago. Good thing this happened, silkroad is now about as safe as buying drugs in an abandoned alley where the floor is covered with needles

The only thing i liked about Silkroad was the quantity to chose from. Hopefully TMP gets such quantity

[-1 Points] everpresentdanger:

Fuck you, some people are forced to use Silk Road still. In Australia the alternate markets have very few vendors, there are like 3 vendors in the entirety of Aus selling weed on all the alt markets combined, the Silk Road still has about a dozen, by far the best range of everything with the best prices and there are still tons of people using it successfully.

[-1 Points] fuckfuckfuckfuckPGP:

Thanks a lot! I am searching for help with PGP for mac and I am unable to access 80% of my search results.

[-2 Points] darkone22:

I have just joined this site just to say that I have just received my money back from silkroad 2 so I think all you people that are putting them down should get a few facts right. I have made two orders in the last 5 days and received both. I will admit to being a little nervous at first and only using the same venders that I used before they got hacked but it is up and running. just remember to wash your coins and use pgp in any contact with them, I think we should be supporting them not putting them down.

[-3 Points] None:

is silk road 2.0 a scam now or something?

[-4 Points] cactuzx:

Why don't you let people make their own decisions? I've had no problems with the road. This almost seems as a PR move for the other markets as restricting the silkroad page is bound to attract more customers to their sites. How much did you get paid bro?
