UASF BIP148 (technical & political) discussion - please join us

Back in Biblical times DPR's Silk Road was the main Bitcoin use case.
I'd love to see our freedom brothers join our efforts to make Bitcoin even better - activating SegWit (doubling the network capacity this summer), Lightning Network (instant very cheap transactions), better privacy (Schnorr, /r/JoinMarket).
We can be found at this Slack channel (works anonymously & beautifully over Tor, you don't need to tell us where you heard about it, say /r/Bitcoin if you like): https://bitcoincore.slack.com/messages/C4QBHNJHE/details/

Questions on disruptions to services/markets are somewhat answered here, but please feel free to ask online at the channel: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6bxpsj/bip148_and_the_risks_it_entails_for_you_whether/
Business/mixers/market/service operators are welcome & encouraged to consider all points.
Be deployed & ready by August 1st!

Letting Bitmain force its way on the protocol is the beginning of the end for Bitcoin. This is super important, people should do some homework and get involved.

Can someone explain this simply? I understand the growing transaction log but what are these solutions? And the implications?

Also is august 1st some sort of deadline?

Have any vendors looked into litecoin? Much cheaper than bitcoin, much faster and lower transaction fees!
