Is a decentralized market being built ASAP of interest to anyone here?

[UPDATE]

Corresponding /r/syscoin sub has an update from a dev participating for this bounty:

http://www.reddit.com/r/SysCoin/comments/2mivgx/325000_sys_bounty_for_the_first_desktop/cm6b6o1

[/UPDATE]

Syscoin has a functioning skeleton implementation of a decentralized marketplace already developed and even usable via the console of the wallet (similar to CLI)

There is a growing bounty for the dev who creates a desktop app for the back end, currently is at ~635kSYS (about 635 mBTC || .635BTC at current rates)

I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to be said developer? Or if not, possibly contribute to the bounty fund?

Find out more about the bounty here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2mkbpu/bounty_for_decentralized_marketplace_asap/ OR http://www.reddit.com/r/SysCoin/comments/2mivgx/325000_sys_bounty_for_the_first_desktop/

The dev team is holding all bounty funds and there are only simple req's for the winning candidate (must be open source, must use JSON RPC via wallet QT, multi-platform, etc.) very similar to what is required for QT wallets for altcoins except this is no wallet, but a stand alone desktop app that interfaces with an existing wallet exe.

Here's to hoping a decentralization is in as much demand as it seems to be, Cheers

Looks promising, but they always do. Until this is tried, tested and true, best of luck.

Checking this out, I'll comment back with my thoughts soon.

Edit: Holy shit this is awesome! :D

This is very interesting.

A few questions:

1) Seems like the right way to go for desktop client is to create an HTTP listener on localhost that talks to the command-line interface directly. That will be the easiest to skin/modify for various marketplace needs. Is this possible with the current infrastructure?

2) Why is light wallet last on the list of future developments? A lot of us here run on TAILS, and many times on shitty WiFis.

3) On DNMs listing prices are tied to USD (or maybe other fiats) and adjusted periodically - I believe daily but don't hold me to it. Does syscoin have a similar feature embedded? Or if not, what would be the cost of updating many/all listings daily in terms of time/computing power?

4) Where can I find more technical details of how syscoin interacts with the blockchain? Specifically I'm interested in the format for storing non-coin elements on the chain.

Thanks!

I bought some syscoin, I hope this goes well for you all.

Eh, would suggest sticking with OpenBazaar. OB is built around Bitcoin - something everyone in this sub probably already has.

The specs in the BTCT thread are a bit vague.

Thanks Kamron for getting the ball rolling on this bringing Syscoin news to this community, one thing to clarify as I've seen a few posts mentioning that the Syscoin marketplace is just and idea and not developed; this could not be further from the truth. Quite simple really, the marketplace is built-in directly into the blockchain, yes, it's mainly only accessible using the console commands until a proper GUI interface is developed, but it's there and it's meant to be built-on just like bitcoin but with many more possibilities.

its surely of major importance to anyone interested in Darknet markets. The diff is with SYS market the powers that be cant shut it down!!!! To view the new SYS market on the web http://syscoin.market , this is experimental and new sites will be made for this purpose. This is a decentralised market built into the blockchain of the altcoin Syscoin

Syscoin was hit bad when Ryan Kennedy/Alex Green ran off with thousands of Bitcoins from mintpal. He was holding a majority of dev funds in escrow. They are taking him to court in UK high court on 28 Nov. Due to this the price is incredibly cheap at the moment. The technology for the Sys Blockmarket is already built into the wallet, the devs just have ti improve the UI and bring it out of the console. This and the good chance of them retreiving their escrow funds mean Sys cld explode in the near future. Do your own research. The issue with these market/wallet combos (and syscoin wasnt the first there was another altcoin spammer on here a while ago called cloakcoin or something that was trying this),, is the bloat and lack of customization that comes with trying to put an enterprise e-commerce software in what is normally a dinky piece of wallet software. You are asking everyone to act as a datastore for product images, this introduces a host of problems such as persistence of listings, size of committed user base, spam attacks, sybil attacks (to determine who is doing what, tor may not be enough given market wallets are tied to a unobfuscated blockchain), application level attacks, scammers and reputation system, arbitration systems.... this isnt something that can be hacked together in a few weeks.

OB has the right idea and is on track to create a complete solution. As for the anonymity front (not that syscoin is attempting to tackle this), darkcoin is still fumbling, monero doesnt even have a wallet, darkwallet is in alpha and is still set to be a browser extension lol, zerocoin deritvates have yet to get past the bloat issues, and theres a plethora of other spammy altcoins who have a knack of making bold claims and presenting whitepapers of mostly white.

I have yet to see an altcoin do anything of value, even lite coin has dropped from #2 to be taken over by the pre-mine central banking scam Ripple. We need OB, we need a proper decentralized bitcoin anonymity solution.

I guess that the real deal will start to emerge when Ethereum goes live.
