I need help, got summoned to the police station as a suspect in Switzerland.

I got today a letter from the police, that I have to go to get interrogated, something about narcotics law. (It's in German, and the google translator didn't have a good translation)

My bet is a little package (I think half of a gram) of 2c-B bought in the darknet that never arrived. At the beggining I thought I got scammed, but now I think it got confiscated.

My question is how to proceed, there are two options, negate everything or confess partially. I know the advice for the US is to keep the mouth closed, but I believe it doesn't works the same here.

I highly doubt that I could get in prison, but I'm particularly stressed as I'm a foreigner doing a PhD here, and I don't want by any motive my visa to be canceled because it would ruin my career. So partial confession could be damaging too as it stains my historial.

I thought about getting a lawyer to give me a professional advice, but also I don't know how to get one fast. I'm being summoned for Friday and, it seems, most of the lawyers I manage to get using google are for financial frauds (yep, Switzerland).

All help/advices are welcome.

Do not confess anything, you did not do anything, you do not know anything.

Clean house, clean your computer, make sure you're safe in that aspect.

Call around today to find a lawyer, if you don't, you will be in a far worse position.

You may be in Switzerland, but admitting guilt anywhere is a bad option when it comes to ordering drugs online as there is little to none actual evidence against you provided you practice good OPSEC.

Get rid of the letter and forget about it, they'd pick you up if they had anything on you. To be safe you should still clean house and get a lawyer on retainer

edit: unless it was like a notice of indictment in the US which is sent through certified mail which you have to sign for, idk what they call that in switzerland though

search this subreddit, it's a common thing for Swiss buyers. in most cases posted here, keeping your mouth fucking shut lets you walk away. they might try and convince you to just confess to get it over with and that you're only gonna pay a fine. DON'T. SAY. ANYTHING. you have no fucking idea what happened and you don't care, you don't buy drugs, never have. (don't say you don't USE drugs cause a tox test would give you away) you just want to finish your phd and you would never jeopardize that, you're not stupid to be buying drugs off the INTERNET and MAILING it to yourself, wtf is this shit, who does that?

one guy (swiss) even had this really cute looking <30yr old lady cop talk to him, looking all bored and this_is_no_big_deal-ish to bait him. he kept saying he had no idea why would anyone mail drugs @his address or who would do that.

walked away with nothing more than a burned address.

Lawyer up! I strongly advise AGAINST any form of partial confession until you can confirm with a lawyer.

Start calling asap and searching around you need to find one

[2 Points] RunDeeMCee:

Wtf would you confess to anything?

They can't do a thing.

Everything was already said, but if you want me to translate your letter write me a PM.

Hey man the exact same thing happened to me a few months ago. I'm also not a Swiss citizen, just like you.

Just deny everything, they can't prove shit. They will ask you if you ever took drugs, if you ever bought drugs, just deny deny and deny. It will seem like a nice conversation, but beware. Deny deny deny. After the interview you will have to sign a paper detailing what you just said, read it and sign it.

You don't need a lawyer or anything, the interview doesn't really mean anything.

Basically the prosecution has a theory about you, and the theory is that you ordered drugs. So the prosecutor in charge of the whole deal doesn't have time to mess with you, and he put the police in charge of interviewing you. They want to hear your story to see if it matches their. Of course it won't, but you're not bound by any oath or anything, so you can tell them whatever you want, it won't be used against you if you end up in a court of law.

Once you signed the paper with your version of the story, they will send it back to the public office. From here, you have two options :

  1. They say "oh well that guy didn't order anything, let's leave him alone". If you denied everything this is what should happen.
  2. They say "well this guy says he didn't order anything but he still got drugs in the mail and he's a bit sketchy, fuck him". This is what happened to me, I think it's because I admitted to having tried some drugs during the interview. I contested the fine I got of course, and now I'm still waiting for an answer. But according to a lawyer friend it should be fine.

Scenario number 2 happens if you admit to the smallest thing. The cop will be nice with you, and when you'll say you never tried anything she/he will ask something like "not even a little weed from time to time?". No, not even a little weed from time to time. You don't even drink alcohol that much, understood?

But if you end up getting a fine, this is when you should get a lawyer, or at least talk to one. In the meantime, don't sweat it. Go to the interview on friday, dress nice and be nice, and don't look like a crazy drug addict. Mention the fact that you're doing a Ph. D and voilĂ , you should be alright.

Are you allowed to simply not show up?

[1 Points] MDMangel:

If it came like regular mail, I'd act like I never recieved any letter. Better to ask forgivness than to beg for permission.

[1 Points] PenisAndBalls1:

Don't admit anything dude. Chances are they can't prove you ordered it. Anyone can send shit to your address. So as long as they can't prove you placed the order you are fine.

Just play dumb and that's it.

I had the same thing happened to me, I opened a thread

don't get a lawyer so soon, just makes you look guilty, just go there and talk to them, deny everything, and see where it goes from there, they have no proof, just a letter with your name on it

You should have probably considered the risk to your career before you smuggled drugs internationally using a foreign countries postal service.

Why are you recieving German language correspondence from the Swiss authorities ?
