Recently ordered two hits of LSD from the Netherlands in to Canada. The letter was seized by Canada Border Service Agency and I received a letter explaining they wished to examine my mail item however since it was under 30 grams, they required my written permission to open the mail item. Also, the letter mentions that the item will be handed over to Canada Post to be dealt with in accordance with their own procedures regarding "undeliverable mail" after 30 days if I did not reply to the CBSA letter with consent to open the mail item. Of course, I didn't reply. Two hits of LSD is very much obviously for personal use. I'm not sure if the envelope was x-rayed or what they do with suspicious mail under 30 grams, but whatever. So anyways, about a week passed and I received in the mail my letter from the Netherlands containing two hits of LSD. I'm 99% sure this is the item which was indeed held by customs as the customs letter conveniently states the country of origin of the mail item (however curiously, CBSA misspelled Netherlands as NEDERLANDS - maybe it's because it came from a french CBSA employee at the Montreal mail processing facility - I don't know.. most people should be able to spell Netherlands, duh.) This is the only item I ordered from a DNM site from the Netherlands. In Canada, regular lettermail can only be opened if weighs over 30 grams.
Would anyone know about this topic? Would CBSA mail the letter to it's destination due to it being surely such a insignificant quantity. There was absolutely no sign of tampering with letter. I just find it strange that it wasn't sent to Canada Post's 'undeliverable mail office' (as the letter stated), returned to sender or disposed off completely. I doubt I'll be ordering anything from DNMs internationally in the future, as I'm sure the CBSA keeps a database of addresses sent suspicious mail items. Anybody have a similar experience or any insight to this? My only conclusion is that since it's Christmas, CBSA wanted to ensure my gifts were delivered :)
If anybody wants to know what these letters look like, take a look at the link here: http://imgur.com/a/ub9rG
It sounds like they couldn't get probable cause to actually open it and prolly ran a drug dog past it with no hits so they just said fuck it and threw it into the mail stream.
I have to move to Canada. They ask your permission instead of trying to get a warrant lol
