I'm thinking of starting a service that would use some internet search algorithms and language analysis to test whether people's online identity's are doxable.
It's in the "brainstorming" stage, but I was thinking it could be something like this:
The online user pays a self-chosen, nominal submission fee to have the search algorithms, and human intelligence, search the internet for every possible way to see if there is a way to tie the person's real world identity to their online identity.
Then, if no doxable connection is found, the user gets a short PGP encrypted report saying how the process went and what was and wasn't found. They can have a refund, or can tip more if they found the info helpful.
If a doxable connection is found, the user is sent a PGP encrypted report showing the links that connect their online identity to their real world identity, with suggestions for how to erase and obscure those links as much as possible. The "final payment" for that report would be higher, on the honor system, depending on how valuable that information is to the user. To a small time customer, maybe that's $50 or $100. To a big vendor, maybe that's $1000 or $5000. Anyway, it's the honor system so it's up to the customer to decide how much to pay, no questions asked. I won't even check to see if they paid, or keep track of how much people pay. People can even pay anonymously if they want, since I won't be keeping a tally of any form. So, the service will live or die based on the honor system and good will or lack thereof.
Obviously, the possibility of perceived blackmail, and the fear of blackmail, is a significant issue here, so this is addressed via:
The entire system is based 100%, strictly, without exception, on the honor system. No amount of money is ever specified as a necessary payment for either the submission fee or the final report fee. All fees are decided by the customer.
Are there 4 or 5 people out there that would like to try this service for free, as a test run to see how it goes?
For these beta customers, there would be no payment necessary at any point in the process, and all findings would be sent via PGP encryption.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I anticipate that some people could say, "Well what's stopping you from blackmailing the people that you find out are doxable?" On the surface, this is a valid concern. BUT, but on a subtle logical level, it doesn't actually hold much water. Because IF the goal of the operation was blackmail, I wouldn't need the "ruse" of the service. I could just run the research system on everyone and then blackmail people without any public face to the operation. Thus, logically speaking, the fact that the service has a public face is essentially a strong sign that it's a genuinely altruistic operation, specifically designed to prevent the kind of blackmail and prosecution that people might be afraid that the service could lead to. (tl;dr Any person who wanted to blackmail would just blackmail, not do it this way.)
If people think this is a horrible idea, a great idea, or have suggestions or feedback I'd really appreciate any thoughts. My intention is really to think of some way to provide a genuinely valuable service to people in the off-the-matrix economy, so this is one way I have thought of doing that. If people have a better way for me to contribute, I'll do that :)
So you want people to sign up to be blackmailed?
