USPS priority envelope question

Just wondering why this is the only way I've ever recieved a package?

Mind my ignorance to the situation, I'm not a vendor and don't ship packages ever. But wouldn't it seem like better security to hide it in a plain box and put tracking label on it? Or is that not something you can do?

Only reason I ask is we get 2-3 packages a week from clearnet and the only time I see the priority envelopes are when it's from the DNM..

Again excuse my ignorance.

Priority boxes and envelopes are probably the most common and convenient way to ship anything in the US.

I order from Amazon and ebay almost daily and most of my items are shipped priority. When I sell stuff on ebay I always use priority because they have the flat rate box that includes tracking and priority shipping for like $8.

They are flat rate.

"If it fits, it ships" is the motto. So it's easy to planout overheads when watching the bottomline.

Also the most popular and commonly used, you want your parcel to blend in.

You can fit more of them into a bin than you could with a box (which is actually a very important reason).

And there's no "hiding" things if it's going through an x-ray machine. Obviously it has x-ray powers and trying to pull something like that is a pretty good way to get yourself caught. Mainly they see the outlines of items, the density of items, and a color indicator of the composition of the material.

An example people think is great is putting a sealed back of weed into a peanut butter jar. Besides not doing what people think it does, that x-ray technician is going to see that the density of the core of whatever's in that jar is different than the filling. He'll obviously know there's something good in there, and he'll be able to work back all the little pieces of profiling evidence they need to get a warrant to open the box ("why are people sending an open jar of peanut butter?" "oh it was shipped from CA, I hadn't noticed that" etc.).

And in the meantime, that priority envelope with the QP made it through because it's indistinguishable from 1000 other things that aren't against the law to have and without a smell, it didn't even dawn on anyone that it might have the precious green cargo.

That type of thing.

Its more cost effective and convenient. Priority shipping is also faster (1-3 days depending on location.) I dont see how its more conspicous. Many people and businesses use it. Honestly, I think it would be less suspicious than a normal box or envelope.

I've had many, many packages shipped in regular brown boxes, normal white envelopes and bubble envelopes. All ranging from weed to ecstasy and cocaine
