Can the US just fuck off? Their excuse of "national security" so easy to poke holes in. They just want to have complete control over their citizens. Nothing can be done about this. You try informing people and you're called paranoid. You try explaining why people should be concerned, and you're told "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear".

The only way I will accept this is if the gov't has to conform to the same level of transparency. You want to see everything I'm doing? I want to see everything you're doing.

There's nothing you can do other than make it harder for them to read your information. But with this revelation even that is pointless. If you guys need me, I'll be in the woods somewhere surrounded by a faraday cage.

Do you think Snowden got a job at kaspersky?

A representative from the secret police whispered to me from my mail slot that they can't put us all in jail and that we probably shouldn't worry since it's for our own safety.

Seriously, no offense to anybody here, but I don't think that any one of you or us can prevent the NSA from spying on us. If they want to, they will. End of story. No point in sweating about it, unless you you're big and important, like Ross.

There are just so many vectors they can take...

They can turn on your cellphone to track you and listen in.

They can bust into your email, your social accounts, everything.

They can possibly track people through Tor (if the DNM communities theories of Parallels construction regarding Ross happened to be true).

They could infect your drive's firmware when you're not home.

They could have discovered, and be sitting on. countless bugs for who knows how many operating systems... The world freaked about things like heart bleed, who know what the NSA has up their sleeves.

REally. And all that, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

And again, no offense to anyone here, but if anyone says "oh no, you're wrong, this is how you evade the NSA", I'll break out in laughter over here.

Relevant quote from kaspersky article.

In addition to this, the use of unknown exploits was observed, possibly zero-day against Firefox 17, as used in For browser.

I use a Pentium 166mhz x386 system with 3.5" floppys. Screw you NSA.

The same way Microsoft has operated with their IT for years - non-return hard-drives. When machine goes to service, never give hdd with it.

[1 Points] None:

HDDs are kind of obsolete now, when you can buy RAM for pennies on the GB. Go solid state, keep a regular PC for MSPaint and all your deviant porno shit, and use a solid state bare bones Linux-based computer for DNM. They can also use your HD to emit radio RF signals if you aren't even connected to the internment camps, uh, I mean Internet.

[1 Points] bizude:

IMO, the best option any of us has at this point is to conduct your affairs as if someone is spying on you. Privacy is dead where there are electronics.

I stole about $2000 of usb flash drives to protect myself. Oh wait, i didnt say it.

[-2 Points] energyinmotion:

The NSA can tap into any computer even if it's powered off, disconnected from any LAN/WLAN, and without even hacking, breaking, or planting software into any targeted PC. There's literally nothing any of us can do to protect ourselves. If they want our data, they're going to get it. I mean, they did just upgrade their clusters of supercomputers recently. The only thing that would work is full disk encryption, and that is slowly going away...

New internet with electromagnetism as the medium, thought as the power, fully interactive universe! Just go outside and be the change you want to see.
