I was a SR1 and SR2 vendor. I took a break for awhile, now I want back in the game. Looking for info on markets.

A lot can happen in less than a year, which is the amount of time I've been on a break from vending. I have a vendor account on SR2, but it seems that this marketplace has gone downhill. What marketplaces should I consider moving to and why?

I was on SR1 and SR2 (and Sheepmarketplace inbetween), but I too recommend Agora if you're a vendor. It has a great vendor control panel.

Unlike Silk Road with its "we will prevail. don't complain when we rob you or get busted - it would hurt our COMMUNITY" bullshit, agora is the strong silent type.

Its became as slow as SR1 for a while and its uptime sucked, but it seems totally transformed recently. i don't know what they've done. If SR2 ever made a technical improvement you would never hear the last of it, but Agora are johnny tightlips.

"Who shot you Johnny?" "I ain't sayin nothin"

SR2, if you go back, looks depressingly like both of those offices you worked in - the one that got busted and the one that robbed you. The ship is floatrng again but you can still smell the seawater.

Its a "hard Rock cafe" now, full of darknet tourists who just heard of it, waiting to pay tourist prices for a burger while a french kid on a moped cuts off their moneybelt with a flick knife while they pose with cardboard cutouts of Rocky and Ross. SR2's hapless customers have survived because the sacmmers scammed them, got kicked off, and couldn't re-register. Now vendor registrations have reopenned, the sharks are pouring in. Teenagers are doggie paddling on the sea surface, the sharks can smell blood in the water, and Roy Scheider is shouting "there's no escrow! You have to get those kids out of the water" at the mayor.

Check back once at SR2 to see if your escrow has been repaid like they said (mine was 1/3 repaid), but you will notice that SR2 has a funny smell, It smells like inside a phonebox somehow.

if you can verify via pgp that you were indeed a vendor on sr1, you can get a free vendor account on agora. i would look into that if i were you. agora has proven thus far to be extremely trustworthy by never losing a cent either to hacking or internal theft and considers both their's and their user's security and anonymity to be paramount above all other concerns. plus, they have a massive worldwide customer base already there and in place for you to cater to.

Sounds a little fishy...

Sign up at different marketplaces: C9, Evolution and The Marketplace (!)

I personally recommend The Marketplace. All the new features were there first. MultiSig, 2FactorPGP Authentification, No Javascript, Enforced PGP Encryption in messages, ... It is still the only marketplace which can be reached by I2P. From a vendor perspective it may not look so well. The vendor and customer base is small. I2P setup may consume some time. In my world TMP is a kind of club of smart users who consider security over anything else. But you problably won't become a milliionaire there.

If you need startup money, and you have good feedback and a vendor account already on SR2, by all means list on there.

Customers HAVE to FE, so the first order on SR2 pays its own postage and the next few you sell too.

Plus, when you move to a better marketplace, you can airlift a few better customers out to a better marketplace.

In a way, I like it that the Silk Road franchise is still limping along. it keeps the riff raff and the kids out of my shop.
