A helpful thread - [AGORA DOWNTIME]

For those who don't know yet, or don't care, Agora is down. There has been a hardware failure and they are trying to fix it. This was posted to the Agora forums. From admins on forum, So don't freak out people. Key words, up to two days. I'll be making a purchase on Evo/C9 in the meantime.

July 28th, 5PM PST / 8PM EST:

"We have been working out the issues and at this time we have established that, as unlikely as that is, there has been a hardware failure in a key piece of our infrastructure. We are still trying to figure out the fastest way to bring everything online, but in case we have to rebuild some of the hardware it is going to take some time. In such cases we have strict anonymity protocols which we have to follow. We shall keep you updated, but unfortunately right now it seems that the works could take up to two days. It's possible that it will be completed sooner, but we are considering all the possible problems, which usually come up in such cases."

why do they have such a hard time keeping agora up? i swear its down 50% of the time and the left over 50% its slow as shit

I still love you Agora :(

man the worse is when by the time AG comes back up, we are going to get a bunch of messages of, "Is my order shipped yet?" and we are just sitting staring at the computer when waiting it to load.

This is why changing statuses and answering messages on AG can be a pain sometimes, but EVO and CR is much faster when it comes to that regard.

Yes, please use this thread here to discuss the Agora downtime... As a mod on the Agora subreddit, the deluge of newbie freak-outs is overwhelming me. ;-)

Seriously, there are a lot of people who apparently use Reddit as their sole source of DNM info. They don't read the Agora forums. They don't read the clearly-worded announcement by the admins. They run here asking if the site "is down for everyone or just me". I know there are some folks here legitimately about to go through withdrawal or whatnot, but some people act like little kids. Shit happens, the market site went down because of hardware issues. It will come back up. Deal with it. Take a Valium and relax.

Someone is also spamming the Agora Forums.

"AGORA DOWN?? :(

:) Come join us on the Evolution Marketplace

Marketplace url (removed the marketplace URL)"

I was starting to get worried there for a sec... Sheep and SR were nightmares I'd rather not relive

I haven't been able to tell customers ive shipped their orders, and when they get them later today they won't be able to finalize.

The good news is that I logged into my Silk Road 2 Vendor account to see that they've repaid 0.6 of the 2 btc escrow thry stole in february.

Im expecting a small batch to be cooked, purified and grown into shards on wednesday, so we may offer it on SR2, even if its just to give meth customers our agora referral code.

People shouldnt be using a marketplace that doesnt even trust itself with an escrow. Nevertheless, I see a few big reputable UK vendors like the ToYou team and Cornettos have some listings on Silk Road 2 again.

I just find it a bit depressing, like swimming through the hull of a once-great ocean liner.

Silk Road is fast now, without the annoying capcha code, but give me agora any day. I know a website can't smell - but I swear that Silk Road 2 smells like a phone box.

When is agora going to stop being in "beta"? It doesn't seem "buggy" - just under-resourced in the hardware and bandwidth department. if its just one server, no wonder it has 20% downtime. Its unusul for Agora to make a statement - theyre the strong silent type. SR2 is still all "Don't complain when we rob you. it could hurt our COMMUNITY. We will prevail"

[1 Points] Oneand1:

Agora isn't the fastest market out there, but in terms of geographical coverage, it's the best. Not all of us have the luxury of having dozens of local vendors to choose from while living behind a customs steel curtain.

I like Evo for "digital delivery" type of items, but for dope, Agora's the only choice in some parts of the world.

Placed an order for a gram of MXE not even 12 hours before the downtime started with the last of my bitcoin change from other purchases. I can live with a little waiting but I'm gonna be pretty fuckin' pissed if I lose my $20 over these shenanigans. And I don't even know if it shipped :c

FML. I had money in escrow and the seller I had it in escrow with had just happened to be in vacation mode for the past week (I didn't notice he was gone before I placed my order). God I hope he got back and saw my order before the site went down. And it was a relatively large order, too.

I feel badly for the vendor that I am unable to finalize for some fantastic gear I got yesterday. I feel bad for me too because I want to re-up and I don't think they vend anywhere else. I don't understand why all vendors don't have a backup plan if they are only operating on one market. I would order from them via encrypted email and pre-pay for the gear if I knew how to get in touch with them. :-(
