I've ordered before to my home address and I've seen how it's shipped. Will a personal amount say an eighth or a quarter fit into a small size PO box?

Ok, first off personal amounts will be fine in a small box (unless your vendor sends you a monster of a box for no real reason). Second, depending on the policy of the location a package that doesn't fit has 2 options. Either they hold it at the desk, and you might have to sign for it (look into setting up a pre-authorized signature, just ask them they'll know what you mean), or, if they have it, they'll leave it in a large lock box in the lobby. If they put it in the large lock box they'll leave a key in your box so you can access it.
Just keep in mind Postal workers are not some scary overlord trying to find your drugs. If ask questions they're more than happy to help. I spent probably 20-30 min talking with the guy working there when I set up my box, asking how to format the address for international packages, what happens if a package is to big, and all the other questions I see on this sub.
I get the paranoia because of what it means, but the people working there do have all the answers to a majority of the questions.

Just get a medium sized box and mention that you like to pick up at certain hours. And if they ask why a medium box just say you like to have almost all mail fit in it. That's what I did, have never got a slip.
Edit: removed bad advice because bad. Never give them an idea of when you'll pick up mail.
Edit2:I also didn't read that you're getting a small box.
If it doesn't fit they'll leave a slip and you just pick it up at the desk
