Just wanted to say that one way to fight the new laws in the US would be that everyone flocks to use Tor.
TL;DR: if everyone uses Tor, the law will be pretty ineffective...

You forgot to mention that he was extremely popular, and was most likely going to win the election. And Then made terrible decisions and ended up in Watergate. Would have been known as one of the best Presidents ever until then.

People are up in arms about this all of a sudden, however, in my opinion it'd be extremely naive to think the government didn't already exercise this kind of mass surveillance. Only difference now is that they can do it legally, but when have the government ever given a fuck about legality???
I feel as if people are grossly exaggerating what the outcome of this whole situation will be. Obviously it's not good, and it is a huge breach of privacy, but the gvt etc weren't bothered about you ordering a few grams of weed every other week before the bill, why would they care now? Most of us here are small time, and not LE's priority, keep that in mind. Maintain good OPSEC and you'll be fine.
By people saying they are going to stop ordering from the markets etc, this is just making it worse for everybody. Strength in numbers.
