OPSEC / Is this a set up?

some bud I ordered was taking a long time for delivery. finally got the tracking and found out the package had been out for delivery a few days earlier then marked delivery status not updated.

I did some research about this having to do either something with 1) the delivery label causing problems sometimes forcing package to be returned to sender, or 2) it being lost on delivery route usually behind another package and usually delivered the next day, 3)totally lost and no one knows anything.

worked up courage to call and find out what was going on. guy informed me it was up to postmans discretion to deliver it or return and they returned it to the hub. I could pick it up that day or have to delivered the next day.

should I be sketched with how quickly they knew where the package was? why would they just not attempt redelivery or at least mark delivery attempted?

thanks guys for the reassurance.

i'll try to post tmmw with that happens (assuming they didnt just want to get me on phone to express my knowledge of the parcel lol)

ive had legit packages go "out for delivery" then "delivery rescheduled"

happens when it hits your local PO in the morning but doesnt actually make it on a truck, or when post man doesnt complete his route.

why it was returned to hub? dont know, thats just weird. most likely is label problems, least likely is package looked shady like was ripped and mbb sticking out and postman brought it upon himself to bring ot to an inspectors attention.

who knows maybe they have cowboy postmen in that area and they are on the look out for packages with non internet postage and fake return addresses... all those are unlikely scenarios. even the person on the phone probabbly had no idea.

the out for delivery and reshceduled delivery is automated computer stuff based on destination scans.

99% chance your fine and it was a label issue.

it'd bug me out too though.

Your over thinking, don't be paranoid it happens sometimes

He probably just knew that it got sent back to the hub from the tracking status and seeing it frequently in his line of work. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Either pick up or wait a day, you SHOULD be fine.

Don't worry about it. You're fine.

No I would be happy they freaking have it..and didn't deliver it to someone else.

We are talking the po here - not well known for going above and beyond :) Not to say that some don't. Most just do enough to get their job done then call it a day. The last thing they want is the extra work an 'illegal' package would cause. I have friends that worked for the PO in different positions - like the hub to delivering mail. They said most don't give a shit - they just want to get their job done & go home. Since they're quasi government employees that means they do the bare minimum. Sure they have 'all-star' employees that go the extra mile but it's the exception not the norm. So like the others said don't worry you'll be fine :-)
