UK Vendors who ship in standard DL Business envelopes

There's only so many USB sticks, memory cards, iphone cables, etc, etc i can say i've bought when the mail comes. Unfortunately i finish work after everyone else i live with, so there sitting for me on the table is a nice dvd size envelope/padded bag or something similar, which always leads to the question 'oh what did you get'. Fucking nosey anti-drug housemates.

I only ever order small quantities for personal use (less than a gram of whatever), which would easily fit in a standard envelope, disguised amongst the bills and whatever. There used to be a vendor who would ship this way, but he hasn't been seen for a while. Are there many vendors out there? I know they don't advertise stealth, but surely it would be ok if they advertised comes in a standard envelope?

Does anyone else have to make up crap as to what they've bought on the internet when they receive their 'packages'?

A gram of what?

If a customer asks us to ship in a birthday card or something, we do as we're asked.

If stealth isn't specifiically requested, we send free glass items etc.

You're paying rent there, and you're a grown-up. The shape or lumpiness of your mail is nobody's business. Its not a foot-long double-ended dildo. Guilty drug feelings leading to shifty behavior are a kind of personality stealth failure. Your housemate's suspicions won't be triggered by an envelope of ANY design.

To answer your question:- No, of course I don't have to make up crap about what I bought on the internet - I'm an adult. Explaining what's in everything I receive would look really suspicious. Does everyone in your house tell everyone what they're expecting in the mail, or just you?

Try to act normal. Normal people don't blab about their mail like they have tourettes

The general consensus here tends to be "don't order to your house if there are other people living there. They could be put at risk despite being completely innocent of the matter." It is the same kind of questionable judgement people use when they sneak a thermos with alcohol when riding in someone's car - the driver could be severely penalized for something they had nothing to do with. Family or roommates could also potentially be in trouble for the actions of a single household member.

That said, it is equally not cool to give a crap about another adults mail. So in a case of a snooping-roommate and one ordering on DNM, neither party is right. A PO box is inexpensive and the proper thing to do in such situations. It's simply not fair to the other people on your house.

You can always ask a vendor beforehand of they are willing to customize stealth for you. I had a vendor I used consistently who had outstanding customer service. He was willing to "design" my packages a certain way to blend in with my normal mail, as I often have a house sitter or have my mail held for longer periods when I am traveling. Unless a vendor is very large and doesn't have the extra time, they would likely agree to help you out, especially if you offer to send a bit of extra coin their way as thanks.

This is where being a) female and b) a compulsive shopper - yeah, addictive personality - comes in handy. I get parcels pretty much everyday and on the rare occasion anyone asks me, I'm all "yeah, nail varnishes" My husband basically just glazes over as soon as I mention girly shit.
