Its just what people migrated to after Agora/evo went bye bye. Its UI was ass compared to most other dn sites, but for all the shit it got I never had a real problem with it for years.

Anyone remember c9s interface? I loved that shit. Fucking pigs took my favorite site.

I was always a bit wary of it given the history it had but tried my best to practice good OPSEC, research vendor reputation on external websites which resulted in me being scammed 0 times, didn't click on sketchy links or open myself up to malware, only deposited what I needed to order immediately, never spent money that I couldn't afford to lose, and treated vendors with respect. I never FE'd but I feel bad for those who lost money in escrow after the site went down. It could have just as easily happened to me given bad timing. I sympathize with those buyers/vendors who may have just lost a lot of money. I usually kept $5-10 in my wallet to cover miscalculations in shipping, fees, etc so luckily I only lost about $4 and I'm ok with that.

Maybe I just got lucky but I never had a single issue with it in over two years but always had a feeling something wasn't quite right. With all the bashing and negative reviews it got, I figured at least a portion of it had to be true. I didn't like how driven it was by carders but I turned a blind eye to it because it simply worked well for me. I used other markets as well but felt that AB was just a "convenient and necessary evil" because 1-2 of my favorite vendors only operated there and refused to migrate or open a private shop. That's probably why I stuck with it for so long. All DNMs are criminal in nature as they facilitate the exchange of illegal goods/services but maybe AB was a bit too far into the crime game themselves to be trustworthy to the community.

I can understand why people used it. The UI wasn't too bad compared to other markets, it was popular, had tons of vendors + customers, lots of initial refugees from Agora/EVO, and was fairly simple to use - it worked for a lot of people. I always felt like they could have improved their payment system as I did prefer the way other markets utilized multi-sig which was arguably better, though still not perfect. I wasn't always a fan of their PR or support staff - results seemed mixed at best. With that said, my one and only dispute was handled professionally and was refunded 100%. I'm sure that isn't the case for everyone so I'm not trying to discount the experiences of others.

In a way, I'm sad to see it go (assuming it's dead for good.) It could have been so much more than what it was had the staff been onboard with such an agenda. Being the #1 option, they had the opportunity to really set the standard for a solid market. On the other hand, them going down could ultimately be good for the DNM in the long term if it forces people to learn from mistakes and use markets with marginally better payment protocols, security, PR, and customer service.

What would you suggest using?

Well it was the biggest DNMarket with a bunch of very good vendors aswell.

I feel sad about the vendors loosing their money now.
