Just ordered from AlphaBay, got letter from local PD.

I ordered this past week. I had no mail yesterday, which is weird. I usually always have at least 1 letter or something. Then today when I went to go check the mailbox, there was a letter from my local Police Department. The letter was a printed template. It was made out to my mother, and said "we are currently investigating a reported crime. It is necessary that we speak with you."

I was given a case number which I tried to look up, but there was no records. I'm guessing the case is too new?

So my question is, is this letter from the police about my package? if it was, wouldn't it be made out to me and not my mother? thanks guys.

Never heard of LE sending out leaflets rather than knocking on your door. Sounds like you got scammed buddy.

Maybe you got scammed by the vendor?

[28 Points] Rolling_Stonedd:

Ignore it. If they want to speak with you they will contact directly or come to your house. Also, I've had days with no mail at all and that was with 3 ppl living in the house as well. It's not uncommon.

Is no one going to ask OP,

why the fuck are you opening your mother's mail?

maybe LE wants to grill your mom on your computer use before hitting you. Tell her not to go.

bring the letter to a cop and see what he thinks ,

they are usually around traffic stops and donut shops

[5 Points] dingoperson2:

It's virtually certain that they basically auto-printed this based on the person highest up on their list as living at the address. The name on any mail order could be fake, so rather than address it to Randy Wang they address it to someone they definitely know is an actual person living at that location.

Tell us your setup. Like how do you order with tails and btc.

(Also, just a possibility, the vendor you ordered from could have sent that to scare you, and you not get a package. Or it can be legit and they seize it, or it can come as a CD) All possibillities. But explain to us what i asked above. And what did you order?

[3 Points] xanaxpills:

SAME SHIT JUST HAPPENED TO ME TODAY THE ORDER WAS SHIPPED TUESDAY WTF???????????? AND IT WAS IN MY NAME I OWN MY SPOT

This seems oddly like a scam. Either way heres what you need to do. CLEAN HOUSE, nuke computer, give the letter to your mom. Say you have no idea what its about but it seems serious. If your mom asks do not admit to it whatsoever. You are a minor so as along as you plea the 5th and dont have evidence and your mom isnt a jackass you will fine.

[3 Points] Mustaka:

You are a little shit for ordering drugs to your moms place.

[2 Points] clevernamehere1328:

As others have said, go through your setup and let the vendor know. Also, if you are buying too much or too frequently when you never used to get packages, that could be what tipped them off. Get a PO Box, use a public wifi and VPN while ordering, and take a break until the heat dies down. Either that or have a friend order for you for a bit. If it is from a big vendor, they could be just investigating the shipping address and flagging every package that comes from that return address. There's a lot of variables, but all you can do is try and be as bulletproof as possible on your side. Good luck. Keep us posted if you can so that the community may learn from this.

Is there are number to call? If so, do a reverse search - I suspect the number isn't to the police and this is a scam.

[2 Points] Theeconomist1:

Seriously doubt it has anything to do with your package. It could be a number of things. People have gotten these when they wanted to ask about random shit as a witness.

[2 Points] None:

Sounds like they just want to talk to your mom dude, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

[1 Points] ArcticAG:

Have the vendor check the tracking on your order. Also leave feedback for the vendor if it was seized so others are aware.

[1 Points] falls330:

Shred that shit and don't order again. Better to be safe.

[1 Points] Idonu:

Hasn't someone gotten a fake love letter/fake police department letter before? Could be a scam, I'd still clean house just to be safe though.

[1 Points] hacksec:

Clean house.

[1 Points] iSwappin:

So no proof?

[1 Points] OlMateJim:

Do you have a photo?

[1 Points] ThatguyIknowv2:

Ever think both of those events are unrelated and the letter from LE is just a coincidence about something else?

[1 Points] dnmthroway12:

So how did you look up the case number. Do you have access to the police datebase at your local pd? The only time ive ever seen a case number was as part of my discovery. Which I got 5 monthes after my arraignment. Please let me know how youre looking up police case numbers, I would love to know how to do it.
