Nucleus has removed Weapons category in lieu of recent violent events in France

"Dear users, in the light of recent events in France we have decided to remove our Weapons section and we are going to disallow weapons on our Market completely. Reason is it is not very secure for us to sell weapons here anymore. Thank you for your understanding. "

I have to commend them for making such a move, I know people will be strongly disagreeing whilst others strongly agree - weapon access is generally a controversial discussion. Ultimately, DNMs are probably not a big source of weapons involved in these events, but making certain items harder to obtain can discourage a few non-dedicated people who are only toying with an idea.

I love guns but it is a good idea not to have them on these markets. Not because people shouldn't have them, but because with all of the heat on the DNM's right now guns will just draw more negative attention. I know in the U.S the would make commercials talking about DNM's being the route to terrorism. The worst part is the people will believe it.

You mean I have to go to Walmart to buy my guns now? The horror...

This is a good thing.

Side note, "in lieu of" actually means "in place of" or "instead of". A better fit for the title would be "in light of".

Good, all the weapons vendors are LE anyway.

I have no problem with this. Being both for freeDom of citizens and not anti gun. Bc most importantly regardless of their reason for removing them, it just paints a bigger target and reason for LE to shut them down

I think all the DNM's should follow SR's legacy, they gave you freedom of choice, but they wouldn't sell anything that could harm someone else.

[2 Points] CL_Smooth:

I always buy my kalashnikovs off alphabay anyway

[2 Points] plutopete:

There was an article trying to link the terror attacks to Darkmarket weapons sales, with screenshots from Nucleus and other markets http://www.vocativ.com/news/250711/isis-paris-attacks-guns-dark-net/ Terrible journalism!

[1 Points] Cannoisseur_Reviews:

They should focus on putting their Forum online !

[1 Points] AdventureTimeSupply:

Meanwhile on /r/DNM vendors can't post pictures of their products that contain no hint of sales, but mods post a weekly solicitation asking users to post weapons for sale, in clear violation of rule 11.

[1 Points] octomarvel:

Awwww damnit.

Looks like I'ma have to list this suitcase nuke on alphabay.

=,(

[1 Points] axxofreak:

I think it is a good move to stop selling guns on markets but not because of "recent events, or giving terrorists guns". BATFE is all over the markets for the guns.

Plus terrorists don't buy guns from markets. They probably just smuggle the weapons they already have into the countries. They have plenty full auto AK's laying around.

[1 Points] TurribleToothache:

Doesn't upset me having them there just gives the markets more attention.

[1 Points] lordredvampire:

Yup.. if Government can't regulate the DNM, terrorism will do just dandy and fine - perfect pysop to fear-monger the living shit out of people to get WHAT THEY WANT! CIA 101.

[1 Points] DollarSignEyes:

It won't change public perception. Most people still believe that SR1 was full of child porn, assault rifles (the armory was a failure), hitmen, etc..

[1 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

I think nearly all weapons listings have been scams, and most people are wise to this now, so the income for a marketplace is tiny compared to being selected as "it" by LE, whose budgets are better justified if weapons are involved.

Its also encouraging that nucleus might be in it for the medium-term.

[1 Points] Locke_Smithe:

What about gun parts (e.g. full auto conversions, etc.) That you don't want affiliated with your name? Any significant trade in silencers, advanced optics, explosives?

[0 Points] deguppyusel:

yeah this is like.. too little too late anyway

Where should collectors go to procure legal firearms on the dnm?
