Anonymous Android Smartphone for Orbot/Orweb

So first off I wanna say that I am completely aware of the pros and cons of using orbot/orweb. I know its not secure, bad choice in OPSEC ect BUY I am not really looking to debate the use of orweb/orbot .... I just want to know how i should go about buying a prepaid android smartphone anonymously, prefrablly unlimited.

I currently have an unlimited prepaid android through metropcs but it is under my real name. Ive done some searching and from what i gathered is that are required to give your personal info come time to activate the sim card. You may even need to present an ID? I cant remember for the life of me how it all works when setting up a new phone but I thought all they needed was your name and birthday but I got this phone awhile ago and things must have changed..... Can anyone help with how to go about this? Do i need a fake id? Do i need a real name with matching ss# (ive seen this for sale) or do I need a complete stolen idenity with matching ID? Is it really that hard to set up an anonymous android? Back in the day you could just go buy a phone cash and use a fake name....

Buy a phone with a broken screen off craigslist for cash, and then go to a local flea market or something similar and you should find a guy doing phone repair, and you can pay in cash to fix the phone. Now you have a working phone.

To get the sim card, there's a number of places that you can buy sim cards for prepaid use in cash. There's also bitcoin services to do that, and of course you can just lurk and message forums to find somebody who will sell you one. Then you can use services to refill it or buy pre-paid cards to refill it (or trade Bitcoin for a pre-paid card that you then use to refill it).

However, it still is connecting to a local cell tower, and it still has GPS on it. And a host of other things. So I'd still recommend against it. But if you absolutely have to use a phone, then you also will want to look into rooting and installing a custom rom, and particularly into using Xposed and the XPrivacy module.

The /r/privacy sub is also a good place to ask around for this type of thing.

BestBuy now sells the LG Tribute, which is a good Android phone for only like $40. It's a bitch to root, but it allows you to use any plan you want. However, I'm not sure about prepaid plans, but you do get wifi in any case.

There's tons of apps out there that can protect your opsec on Android, but they're not as easy to use as on a PC. You'll almost always have to do a root too for any of the good apps as well.
