[Discussion] Weird, but I wanna try Laudanum

I haven't heard of anyone taking it or selling it on the dnms but I know in the past it was really common. I love history and drugs and have never had issues with addiction, so I want to try some. I'm not even a huge fan of opioids, so if anyone wants to recommend I just take a pill then please don't, I only want laudanum to say I've tried it not to do opiates. If anyone could tell me of a vendor or a source I could get Laudanum from it would be appreciated.

Are their any drugs other than Quaaludes or now I guess Purple Actavis that the community would class as dead drugs, or drugs that were once extremely common but are now effectively nonexistent? I want to get a list of substances to try before I die, and I figure anything that fits that description should be on it.

To the mods: if this counts as a sourcing post then feel free to remove it. I figure given the odd nature of the question it is at least an atypical sourcing post and thus it being posted isn't a bad thing as it may spark a good discussion.

I love the patent medicine period. Sort of the golden age of opiate use amongst the average everyday person. Although women tended to be users early on bc they generally didn't go to pubs and bars so this was their therapeutic outlet.

I have no advice how to find it. It's still legal in the us. At one point fairly recently (meaning last 20 years) it was given to infants addicted to heroin at birth. You probably won't find it easily bc it's inferior to other opioids more easily available.

For me, I'd have little interest in the drug but would love to collect old patent medicine bottles. Those would be cooler than the drug itself IMO. Someone did post here that they found some old drug in its original bottle. May have been laudanum but not positive. Think it was from the 50s.

Why don't you grow 10 poppies, make some tea and call it good? It's not some magical synthetic, it's literally just opium.

Don't get me wrong I would want to try everything I could get my greasy paws on, but, again, it's just watered down opium.

2012 I ran around my town all summer "harvesting" pods, that shit kept me good for 4 months. Funny when I tried again the next year all they best spots were dry. If growing your own and not procuring through other means, make sure you let the seeds drop.

I have made it, it's great stuff! Grow some big-ass poppies, drain the sap by cutting slits diagonally down from the top to the bottom, scrape the tar. Save that. The poppy heads will eventually dry out by the end of the season, trim them off the stalk, toss in a big jar, fill it up with pods then fill the jar with brandy. Put it in a cubbard with a lose lid for a month or two. Filter out the liquid and decant it. Only take a tablespoon full at a time, this isn't like drinking any kind of booze, it is really potent. Great for coughs or for "nerves." I think it's a rather classy, vintage drug. See the first season of Deadwood, it's a great show, too bad it didn't continue.

This is quite a coincidence for me as i was just yesterday re-watching an old documentary i had seen many years ago...

Hooked: Illegal drugs and how they got that way

In particular the episode about opium, morphine and heroin... On this episode they spend a decent amount of time talking about laudanum and the other opium, morphine and heroin tinctures that used to be sold... It made me wonder about these and look into them and i also found out that laudanum is still produced and available (although very rarely) by prescription in some western countries.

Too bad we cant still get this kind of shit from our local snake oil salesman!!

I would love to try opium, however i am still not comfortable enough to do any international orders

Here is the episode by the way in case anyone wants to check it out.. It is from a time when history channel still made some good documentaries (i enjoyed the whole series back in the day and it still is pretty good). And i do need to give history channel major props for the series "Alone" which is one of my favorite shows which i was very very suprised to see was made by history channel.. I was skeptical at first but watched it based on a buddies reccomendation and i must say i was very suprised history channel could still make some good shows!

Just try the ones that replaced them? You wont find stuff that doesnt exist anymore and if you do its probably fake

Not sure, but arent barbiturates kind of a "dead drug"? Aren't they just an older, deadlier version of benzos that no longer get prescribed?
