This is extremely alarming. Why the fucking fuck would they ask for that. There is no legitimate reason I can think of. Could it be a rouge mod? Report that shit, post it on their forums too.

wtf is going on??? The thing too is that many people have reported a hijacked account after working with a mod to resolve an issue. Obviously a mod could send an encrypted message for proof that the person has control of the PGP private key. Asking for it is fucking ludicrous. Be curious how this is resolved and what the hell is going on.

Wait, people are still buying on Alphabay? I thought we left that ghetto ass hood long ago.

[6 Points] alphabaysupport:

The situation appears to be sorted now. Yes, the moderator asked for the private keys. He is not a native English speaker, as you can see by his post below. We apologize for the troubles, but please get over it: no harm was done by that, even if this was unprofessional. There is a claim of a user getting locked out, but that was filed as a typical phishing case like we see everyday. We see lots of people yelling about "vanished money" in the support tickets, and when they write their story, they post a phishing link, and accuse us of having a non-accurate list of links. Go figure.

Now dear haters, can we please stop upvoting a littlle mistake from a moderator which, despite being unprofessional, caused no harm? Upvote the real stuff instead, the things that matter to the community. Hate and maliciousness like you are doing will lead you nowhere. We always take necessary measures when things happen, and since it seemed to be a language issue and that nobody lost coins because of that, and considering that the moderator has been here for long and is among the best staff members with no major complaints, he will keep his position. This may frustrate some people, but if you go to a restaurant and the employee makes a mistake in your order, they won't get fired just because of that. They will get talked to by the boss, and then re-evaluated later. As a business, we have to make the correct decisions, and firing him would be too harsh considering that no nasty consequences happened.

Nevertheless, feel free to change your key if you gave it, and never give them to anyone. As for users losins coins, moderators cannot alter balances. Only the admins can, and everything is logged. Even if we would be scammers, it would be easier to just draw from the hot wallet rather than removing user balances. It wouldn't make sense, even if we would be scammers. Even if we could draw silently, we don't, and we run at more than 100% reserve. The hate towards Alphabay is mostly caused by the "OMG, admins are carders, carders steal your money" atmosphere in this subreddit, and this is something that we can unfortunately do nothing about. We have our customer base, and they get all the best service we can offer them.

I can understand the hate towards carding, but we are one of the only markets who didn't rush to the exits with users' funds during the price spike a few months ago. Instead, we used a more intelligent approach: selling some cold wallets funds at the top of the spike, and during the downwards correction, buying back the BTC and throwing them back in the cold storage where they belong. We were able to make a huge money hit during the spike, without stealing a single dollar from a customer. Exit scamming a market means a serious lack of management skills, as real managers, like our admins, will never need to exit scam, as it would be financially a bad move to exit scam, since we instead use the marketplace funds' leverage to generate income. This is called Skilled Management, and this is why Alphabay is where it's at now.

To conclude: this is our view on the situation. The case has been evaluated and sure we record this as a strike on the moderator's file, but not enough to justify firing him, considering his 8-month perfect record. This is our final decision and we will not be replying anymore in this thread.

Thank you

AB Management

FUCK AB. Why in the fuck are they still on the side bar? That is some pretty damning evidence.

Reuploaded your image to an tor image host for people who cant/wont fuck with cloudflare. http://freedomsct2bsqtn.onion/srlbulywviiqogfcntuu/WuoYjuVY.png

please verify that the image has not been altered.

[6 Points] diclazpg:

And you "warned" the mod in question?!? Should there be any doubt in anyone's mind that AB is sketchy as fuck and should be treated with extreme caution?

[3 Points] None:

Lost a few bitcoins on that site... not using that shit site again, mods are corrupt.

NO BODY use alpha bay unless you want your btc to dissapear

[3 Points] Sunline_Inc:

How about asking me for my withdrawal history as a condition of giving me access to my account which I was mysteriously locked out of....

[3 Points] None:

Seriously guys, how many reports do you need of people money disappearing from their wallets on Alphabay, of Alphabay featuring known scammers, of Alphabay closing vendor account to take money, to realize that a marketplace run by scammers will fucking scam you.

[2 Points] foodforthoughts1010:

Well this certantly unsettling. grabs a bucket of popcorn let the FUD, conspiracy, mod bashing begin!

[2 Points] BHOil:

Soon as you're on top there's no way but down. Closest market to them has 1/10th their listings. It's about that time, they know they can get away with scamming because they get so many transactions and make money off the fees regardless. They are advertising known scammers and taking months to ban scammers because they want the fees. I will not be putting coins there for a while .. I'm expecting an exit scam really soon. Wasn't alphabay created by carders??? Or was that another market..

[2 Points] Kazaa99:

It looks like this guy is trying to scam buyers, or looking for some blackmail material. He might not be working with the admins of the site, but the people they use as "support" and "scam watchers" are nothing more than scammers, thieves and of course carders (which is in my mind the most cowardly and lowest person you can be).

What is this?

[1 Points] Elmo-Fud:

Definitely not cool.

[1 Points] None:

loooool that mod sounds like a noob

[1 Points] None:

Starting to see far too many of these posts for me to keep brushing it off as anti-AB shills or morons that have been phished and so on and so forth. Thankfully the only vendor I really use at the moment has just gone private so I don't need to keep any coins on market, even for a limited amount of time.

Highly suspect behaviour happening here, team!

[1 Points] None:

You have a moderator named BigMuscles?

[3 Points] None:

How am I supposed to believe that this hasn't been doctored? What proof do you have except some pictures you uploaded?

[1 Points] GeneralStarkk:

Time to jump ship

[1 Points] aboutthednm:

It's the ultimate idiot test. You willingly hand this guy your private key, pin, mnemonic etc. you deserve everything that is about to happen.

Not saying this makes it right or wrong, i am not defending this behaviour, at the end of the day you're the one responsible for your privacy, keys and passwords.

[1 Points] Xpenda:

I can confirm. It was the same moderator for me. I saw that /u/alphabaysupport was told about it before, they said they'd look into it. I also messaged /u/alphabaysupport that bigmuscles asked me fro my private PGP key and how I should proceed, they never got back to me.

[1 Points] rowan771:

Stinks of LE to me...

[1 Points] shitterplug:

anonmgur?

How the fuck do you even pronounce that?

[1 Points] alfabi:

Overall, its up to us to usee common sense. Any market can exit scam at any time, no warning, or answering questions as bbmc useless promises not to steal will help us feel safe. Although I think its more about who is bbmc who ask, rather then question itself -both sucks. Bbmc itention is only to convince others by his gibberish how he is very important (dnm vip) where market owners must answer him, otherwise its suspicious. AB shoud fire the mod but could say we fired him when in fact just changed his handle, we would never know. Use common sense, do not take anything for gruanted and do not be naive.

[1 Points] markthefart:

I recently had a good interaction with that support staff (BigMuscles) due to a mod not responding to a dispute I opened. They were actually really prompt and fair. Have nothing but good things to say about AlphaBay (and their support).
