When making a purchase on AlphaBay, do I need to encrypt the notes myself like when sending a message or do I just tick the box that says "encrypt the notes using the seller's PGP"? Basically, does this encrypt the notes automatically?

Thanks for any help. First time using this market.

Ticking the box will take the text that's in the box, and encrypt it using the seller's key. We keep no copy of the plaintext, but since you have no way of verifying that, we recommend that you encrypt it yourself before pasting it in the checkbox.

I encrypt everything myself because then I can be positive my info is secure instead of relying on the market to encrypt it properly.

Depends if you want ab to keep your info or not

Always encrypt your info with PGP encryption software. Never use the auto-encryption feature on markets because then you're trusting the site with your info to not get hacked or raided. So the safest thing to do is encrypt it yourself and then copy and paste it to the seller notes and don't check the box. If you check the box it's going to encrypt the encryption and it might not work. Hopefully this answers your question!

auto pgp does not always work on any market, lots of them have the feature. always better to just encrypt yourself. Another option is if you notice an encrypted email address in the seller's info, sign up with the same website and you can send your shipping info by encrypted email (tutanota sigiant etc) guys you can list any other free ones
