If I use a VPN, is setting one up through a router the best way to go about it?

I've been reading so many mixed reviews on what's the safest protocol as far as VPNs & Tor goes. I have a router that I can set up OpenVPN on so that all my devices that I connect to at home will go through the VPN if I turn it on. Let's say I boot up tails & connect my router while the VPN is active. Is this less safe than just connecting to my regular home network on tails? Any light that anyone can shed on this topic is greatly appreciated!

I am of the paranoid opinion that this is a good idea. I won't get on TOR from my home network at all. If your ISP sees you on TOR you WILL be flagged. (also my paranoid opinion) Either use public wifi to get on TOR or go through your VPN. TAILS needs to support a VPN. Nobody, I repeat nobody, should like the fact that their ISP in the United states of Amerika sees them on TOR.
