[OPSEC/Computer] Vendors using different names on different markets

I've seen (someplace) references to vendors not using the same name on different markets as a part of opsec. It would seem that this would make branding fairly difficult. What's the general opinion among current vendors of the tradeoff between security and loss of branding? Or do most vendors focus most of their marketing on one marketplace?

I guess every vendor approaches Opsec differently. But above all, security should always trump branding or marketing. Staying out of jail and in business is the only way a vendor should operate and if that means sacrificing their brand, then they'll do that. And I don't think there is a right answer, I'm not sure if that helps them from an opsec perspective. But if hte vendor feels it does, then that's what they'll do. I guess its like the tumbling debate for buyers. Some people feel vehemently that tumbling is a crucial component of opsec. Others feel just as strongly that it isn't necessary. Which is right? Who knows but people should operate in a manner they feel comfortable.

I guess one advantage it may serve to have different usernames is to make the vendor appear smaller than they actually are. I guess it may throw off LE to a degree. Being I don't vend and haven't thought much about it, I'm not sure how much protection it offers.
