First, a little about me. I'm a 5+ year DNM veteran that orders bi-weekly for the most part. Never had any issues except for a vendor or two not sending packs and I got refunded through the market. I run a tight ship and have opsec in check. NONE of my friends know I source from the DNM's. I have always said "a friend in Colorado" and everyone buys it. I have NEVER mentioned anything DNM related in front of ANYONE.
On to the friend situation: A little bit about my friend. We have known each other since first grade and have been great friends ever since. He smoked me out for the first time and introduced me to the wonderful world of weed. We have maintained our relationship throughout the years. He is very smart, cautious, and does not do drugs other than weed.
So on to the predicament: Today I received a text message from said friend asking about bitcoin. He knows that I purchased coin back years ago as an investment but that is the extent of his knowledge about my dealings with BTC. He asked "You ever buy bitcoins anymore? Should I bother with buying anonymously and mixing or is buying through Coinbase then mixing enough protection?"
I know exactly what he's trying to do. He must've just heard about the DNM's and is trying to get into the scene but wants to make sure he goes about getting BTC in the safest way possible. He reached out to me because I'm the only person he knows that has even said the word "bitcoin" and this was 5 or so years ago.
My question is: Do I help him and coach him through this process so when he does it he won't make any beginner mistakes, like not PGP address, 2FA, etc? Or, do I just say "I haven't messed with BTC in so long that I wouldn't know where to start"?
Thanks
No matter what, never let anyone know about buying drugs online. If you help him, he may tell other people and we all know how that goes. You have the key to wholesale prices on drugs sent to your door while ordering in your underwear. Don't jeopardize that for anyone, especially if DNMs is what pays your rent.
