Are there any cheaper alternatives to abilify, or something similiar my psychiatrist could prescribe?

I can't afford the 2mg of abilify my psychiatrist prescribes, as a one month supply costs $120.

Abilify is an atypical anti-psychotic medication that can be used in addition to other medications to treat depression that won't go away. There is another medication called: Risperidone(that is the generic medication, which will be cheaper) that is also an anti-psychotic medication that can be used the same way Abilify is used. Depending on what symptoms you have, your doctor can prescribe other medications that are much cheaper...

Well seroquel (quetiapine) is pretty cheap. I think you can get it for like 1 buck per pill, which would be roughly 30$ per month? It has some value on the street so it is probably easier found on DNM. If you look around, you might be able to find a clearnet source for cheap.

For real though, if you just tell your Doc that you can't afford it, they can usually help you out. Drug reps leave samples and coupons, they can switch you to a cheaper med, etc. Try to just call their office and ask for an alternative. They might just send in something different to your pharmacy.

If you have low income you probably qualify for the Patient Assistance Program at Bristol-Myer-Squibb, Abilify's manufacturer. I get my 5mg. prescription for free. Check it out at http://www.bmspaf.org/Pages/Home.aspx

Good luck!

This is a really interesting article in which the author flies to Britain twice a year for his abilify prescription, which he can get there for only $12/ 6 months. He's a British citizen but he also suggests that you could get it from Canada or Mexico for less, around $70 to $80 per month. I'm guessing you're American? Maybe someone with a prescription in Europe might sell it on the DNMs?
