Does using a PO box increase, reduce,? or not increase the risk?

You'd think a package with drugs sitting in a post office would be the easiest way to catch someone, because the employees could call police as soon as they see you, unless you didn't show ID or used a fake and didn't put your real name on the package. Or does it not matter because if LE finds drugs in your package they'll get you anywhere any way?

Edit Sorry for the title, it's late and it sounds like I'm retarded.

[1 Points] select1on:

well might be two fold

1.) Less hands touch the package (no delivery man etc)

2.) Your name is tied directly to it no doubt.

Use your current address, previous tenant if you want.

No plausible deniability.

Using a PO box is different, has a different set of pluses and minuses.

For one, the postal employees don't need to get to know you, you're just a hole in the wall. I get weird shit to my PO box all the time, most of it has nothing to do with me.

Using a PO box instead of a street address means you lose the "someone must be using my address as a drop point" excuse

You don't need to have your own name on the PO box, have a friend open the box for you.

To be hit with a successful drug possession charge they must prove that you knowingly received those drugs. I find it insane how many people just cave and explain everything to the police the moment they're confronted. The cop can know 100% in his mind that you intentionally and knowingly did something, but without being able to submit proof to the court that it is so, you're walking away. The best proof is a confession, which if you look at the stats on how many charges were the result of a plea vs jury trial (US here, sorry international peoples) you can see the trend.

As far as plausible deniability, I think this gets more credit than it should. Plausible deniability doesn't kick in until (at the very earliest) the prosecutor is deciding whether or not to proceed with prosecution. If you're going to rely on plausible deniability you better be ready to sit in jail until the shit clears the air.
