So I finally made my first order on Wednesday after months of lurking. I noticed on the vendors profile they said to that a 9 digit zipcode was optional, thinking nothing of it I typed in my 5 digit zipcode to find out what my 9 digit one is. I found a site with it and finished typing in my address, encrypted it and finalized my order. However today i was browsing other vendors and noticed one had a link to a site that would find your 9 digit zipcode, curious i went to the site and entered in my info (the usps site) and it brought up a different 9 digit zipcode ( the first 5 digits were the same however the last 4 were not). Im now freaking out and dont know what to do, I feel like Im freaking out over nothing but it doesnt hurt to ask. I feel confident in the vendors stealth ( I ordered from blueviking) but if it were sent to the wrong address that would not be good. Any help/info on what might happen is greatly appreciated.
As most others have said, you will most likely be fine. Even if the last 4 digits of your extended zip are incorrect, the first 5 of your standard zip are still right so that alone should be enough to get it to a local Post Office. From there it SHOULD be able to find its way to your house, it just may take an extra day or two (however keep in mind that ANYTHING is possible).
I would recommend that ALL buyers use their FULL and CORRECT 9-digit zip code located through USPS (https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action) when entering their shipping address because something as simple as using your extended zip code will allow the package to be delivered 1...sometimes even 2 days earlier than otherwise. Several well known vendors state this exact information in their profile and my person experience seemss to
