PSA: USPIS will NOT be affected by federal hiring freeze

Thanks to treefarm 33 for finding this link: https://forum.officer.com/forum/employment-careers/law-enforcement-job-center/143425-postal-inspector-position

From the link, p. 485-

Good news on the hiring freeze. It looks like USPS is exempt from the hiring freeze as stated in this guidance document which was released today (Section 3.f): https://www.chcoc.gov/content/federal-civilian-hiring-freeze-guidance Also, in Section 3.r.ii it exempts postions which meet public saftey responsibilities and if you go to the document it's references it specifically states law enforcement and criminal investigations. So it would appear to me that USPIS has double exempt status and should have no issues continuing to hire.

From Page 484 -

"The head of any executive department or agency may exempt from the hiring freeze any positions that it deems necessary to meet national security or public safety responsibilities." https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/01/23/presidential-memorandum-regarding- hiring-freeze
