How long should I wait until I start ordering packs? I figured I should order some stuff from ebay so the mailman gets used to seeing my name?
Just moved into a new apartment. How long should I wait?

its probably best to have legit mail and packages order before your DNM. however, i rarely take my own advice :)

There is no harm in doing this and yes, if the mailman doesn't know you moved in he/she could send it back to return address.

I am in pretty much the same boat. probably going to place a couple orders for amazon shit within the next few days to help my new mailman figure out that I live there.
the bigger issue I'm facing has to do with shipments received to my old address. it's just frustrating cause I was extra cautious in order to prevent this from happening (allowed around a month between last order and moving out), but I have a pack with a worthwhile amount of K that was marked shipped probably about 35-40 days ago at this point. I trust the vendor 100% I just don't know what the fuck happened. left a sign up telling the next tenants to hold onto the previous tenants mail. planningg to wait a month until after I move out (which would be like 60 days since order date), and then stop by the house to ask about the mail. hoping my UK pack will be waiting for me. if not, just gonna consider it a lost cause I don't wanna be showing up repeatedly asking about it.

Order away, first day I moved in, order DNM to new address.

wait till you start getting mail in your name there thats legitimate, test a package from amazon is a good idea, make sure they will leave it on your doorstep/mailbox before risking a QP getting returned to a dead address :P

get $20 bucks, buy a charging cable on amazon, an outlet charging brick on ebay, /r/freebies for some neat free shit. Bam. Golden.

There is a subreddit called /r/freebies I think, and you can sign up for a bunch of random mail in you name. Get the mailman used to your name.

I had ordered a pack sent to my new address and didn't have the key to the mailbox cause the property manager didn't have it. I had to go buy my own mailbox lock (which still isn't installed). The day I thought my pack might arrive, I took a chair out to sit by the mailbox 30 minutes ahead of time and when I opened my door, low and behold, there was my pack. I had been seriously stressing about the situation and god bless the USPS, they delivered it.

You need to find out if your complex offers a concierge service first. What I mean by this is that if they do, then when UPS or FedEX comes and you aren't home, they will leave the package with the front office for you to pick up at your leisure. They never did this with USPS packages, obviously; but it is something to look into and be aware of.

I'd start ordering as soon as I started getting my forwarded mail in or I get a legit Amazon pack or something. As long as you don't break in a box with a DNM pack you'll be perfectly fine.

Mailmen don't need to get used to your name. Hell I moved into a new apartment 6 months ago and receive mail addressed to 4 previous tennants. I say order away.

Should've ordered yesterday.

What time does your watch say? Add one minute.
I would have had a pack already ordered and scheduled to arrive on the first day. Back when I ordered, I stayed in a lot of hotels in different states. I would have packs ordered and scheduled to arrive the day I checked in. If they came early, they would see my name on the computer and hold them. I've done the same thing with legit packs on several occasions so I knew they would always make it.

What difference would it make if the mailman knows your name or not? Go ahead and order a package now. People seem to think that if the mailman doesn't associate the name on the envelope/package with the person who lives at that address, that they won't deliver it or something. This is not at all the case.
I was in the same boat as you and didn't know what to do, so I ordered some amazon packs before anything.
