Sentence for selling in Canada?

Just curious, if someone was caught selling xanax locally in Canada (not through mail, just face to face) what kind of time/fine would they be expecting?

Im not canadian so I can't really say anything besides what anyone can look up themselves about the actual letter of the law. But it depends on the quantity and whether or not you have a record, probably like 1 year max for your first offense

[1 Points] Randomguy81724:

According to the CDSA, section (5)(3)(C)..

(c) where the subject-matter of the offence is a substance included in Schedule IV,

(i) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or

(ii) is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.

Tl;dr, If summary, one year or a $5000 fine. If indictable, three years.

First or second time offender jail time would be iffy and sentence would be short (couple months) if it happened. I know of guys (aquaintances) getting 6 months after multiple convictions for trafficking Cocaine. Harper govt tried the mandatory-min thing but judges ruled it unconstitutional. Seems we don't ruin lives for stupid mistakes up here.

DON'T FUCKING POST IF YOU DON;T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, WHY EVEN POST IF YOU DON'T KNOW CANADIAN LAW?

Look it up, benzos are less illegal than weed. You can carry (and even import) a 90 day supply on you with NO PRESCRIPTION so unless a cop sees you doing a hand to hand deal, or you sell to an undercover, you can carry 90 bars on you and they can't do a thing. Even if you did get caught selling a few bars, the punishment is so minimal, they would likely just let you go home if you live in a major city, if you live in butt fuck no where were cops get excited over a 1/4 of weed you might get some bullshit like house arrest or community service BUT DEF NOT JAIL

[1 Points] None:

there's no law against personal possession of a schedule 4 in canada. only possession for trafficking is illegal
