Rented a PO box, may be compromised...

So I rented a PO box, but then Bank of America restricted my debit card because they know I purchased bitcoins from "coinbase.com" and then notified my parents that it happened. My parents chatted with me about the dangers of buying bitcoins and how BoA has now flagged my name.

My guess is that BoA saw that I withdrew a good amount from my debit card and were worried that "coinbase.com" was a scam site. My real concern is that if they looked at my purchase history they would have seen that I payed for a PO box too.

Is there anyway that the post office would let my parent's know that a package arrived at my PO box? Should I just test the waters by sending something harmless like a poster there? And lastly, should I be concerned that Bank of America restricted my card because I bought bitcoins from "coinbase.com"?

Are you under the age of 18? I ask, because I find it unusual that BofA could restrict your debit card by using it on coinbase.

For one, coinbase doesn't allow for debit cards, only credit cards or bank transfers. For two, banks are not permitted to release banking information to people not listed on accounts unless they are the parent or guardian or a minor. Bank of America is a very large corporation and in no way unfamiliar with coinbase. They would have temporarily put a hold on your account to assure that you had made the transactions yourself and it wasn't a matter of identity theft or fraud.

They will not, however, get into your personal business in the way that you are thinking. If you are a minor then your parents would be able to see your banking history and see that you had made a purchase at the post office, although it probably wouldn't show what it was for; it would not say "for a box" or "for postage stamps" on your bank statement. And they certainly wouldn't be able to access information about what has been delivered to a post office box. Banks and the post office aren't part of the same entity. I am not sure why you might think that is even possible.

Now, I AM going to get into your business in a way that your bank isn't going to. You sound very, very young to me, as it is clear you don't fully understand how banks or post offices work. Your post is worrisome because it would lead anyone to believe that you don't have the level of understanding about two very small parts of everything that you need to fully understand in order to be safe and use DNM's responsibly. If you are a minor living at home and intend to use DNMs to order drugs or other illegal substances, you are putting your parents at risk. They can be held accountable if you bring illegal drugs into the home.

If you are a minor, you legally own nothing. Your bank account, your PO box, your christmas giftts from your grandparents -- they legally belong to your parents, not you. I am aware that you are trying to separate yourself from them, but the fact is it's not possible. I strongly suggest you take quite a bit more time (preferably as long as it takes for you to reach adulthood and move out on your own) before you consider making a purchase on a DNM. If you insist on doing so before you've moved out on your own, then at least take another month or so at a minimum and really educate yourself on what you're doing instead of jumping the gun and getting yourself and your parents into trouble. It's just painfully clear that you're not prepared for it.

Scanning quickly through your comments, the Grand Wizard sees you're in high school, and plan to be using less acid, weed and Xanax "4 years from now" when you are not. This would suggest you are somewhere between 14 and 16 and you are using a card connected with the family account.

Believe it or not, when a high school student starts buying bitcoins through Coinbase most people assume it is for drugs, rather than investment. "Most people" including your parents, who presumably equate bitcoins with Silk Road and DarkNet Markets the same way everybody else reading this subreddit does.

If you are buying drugs for redistribution in your school, your parents could face serious consequences including enormous legal bills. And keep in mind that "redistribution" doesn't just mean selling. If you give a friend a tab and he injures himself tripping, your parents could be sued by your friend's angry parents. Distribution out of your parents' house very literally puts your family home and savings at risk.

tl/dr; you're way, way too young for this shit.
