When is TAILS actually necessary? + Bonus stupid question

So I've figured out how to install/boot-up tails and it looks good and has some cool features built in. I've been using just windows with a vpn to do my research in r/darknetmarket and browsing all of the darkmarkets with tor. I do plan on using TAILS when it comes time to make my purchase however I've barely used it so far. Is that a fine approach, or are you guys on tails all the time when browsing DNM's and such?

Stupid question: I write down on a piece of paper all of my usernames and passwords for all of my darknetmarket activity and this is my only method, it does seem archaic but it works for me. Is there any opinion against this?

Thank ya buds, excited to make my first purchase, couldn't have done it without you all.

I use Tails for 100% of my activities that are related to the darknet in anyway, including /r/darknetmarkets. I'm maybe an little overly cautious but I actually like using Tails, unlike a lot of people. Once you get used to it, you may find yourself using it more often than you current OS.

Writing down your usernames and password isn't a terrible idea, but it does link you to all of your darknet account pretty easily if something were to happen. The better option would be to save all your usernames to a encrypted and password protected text document (very easy with Tails). Memorize those passwords, they shouldn't be written down anywhere. Once you have your usernames to certain sites memorized then you should erase them. I save my usernames to markets I don't use very often to an encrypted document. If I start using it reguarly, I delete them from the document and memorize it.

This all may be over kill but when it comes down to it sometimes it is a good idea to be a little paranoid. Good luck and stay safe!

I use Tails for everything involving buying drugs over da internets, including lurking/posting here and on /r/AGMarketPlace /r/torescrow and /r/opiates. Rather be safe and a little unconvenienced, than convenienced and in jail. =)
