"Why are you buying all of this Bitcoin? What do you use it for?"

The dreaded questions that keep me from using LibertyX more often. :( I hate drawing attention, and so far every time I've bought coin using LibertyX I've had a bored and curious store clerk quizzing me about it the whole time. I just kind of harrumphed and mumbled something about needing bitcoin to buy ebooks online (yes, stupid excuse. I'm not exactly a criminal mastermind.)

I guess I could always just snap "None of your business", but I'd rather not piss off the people I will probably be coming back to for another LibertyX pin some day. I know there are some legit business that take bitcoin, I think Steam still does, but since they also take all other forms of payment it makes kind of a lame excuse as to why I'm going so far out of my way to buy cryptocurrency. What do most people say when someone asks you why you're buying bitcoin and what you use it for? There must be a more believable "honest" reason to give to the nosey parkers.

You're buying them to save them as an investment or that you buy and sell them for a profit.

Tell them a lot of stores give discount if you pay with bitcoins, thats what i would do if i was asked.

"There's a reason it's an anonymous currency." Then I smile and wink and they usually laugh and then I bring up another subject. Seriously though, it's none of their business.

I'm actually completely fine with awkward silences and creating social unease with inappropriate questions. I had a bank teller get nosy about me making a cash deposit. She didn't know it was for BTC but it was a fairly large amount and she was asking a bunch of questions. I didn't answer. I didn't deflect. Just literally didn't say anything besides "So am I able to make this deposit?" I guess its a novelty and I'm sure some of these places don't make those types of sales, but fuck, people don't ask shit when I withdraw from an ATM and if they did, they'd get an earful followed by an awkward silence.

I'd honestly just say "Bitcoin is similar to cash. I'm buying bitcoin." I have a real problem with humoring people with intrusive questions. I feel making up something is me acquiescing to their game. I've long felt if I lie about something, its telling the person that they are worth lying to. So when I lie, its not a social nicety responding to an inappropriate question, when I lie its to directly benefit me. I feel its beneath me to even dignify something like that with a lie. Trust me, nothing says "fuck you" more than not playing along.

For instance, say like someone I don't particularly care for made a request of me that I didn't care to do. They ask me if I've done it. I could make it easy and lie "Oh I was busy, shit got swamped, etc etc". OR, I coudl tell them "No, I didn't do it because I didn't want to." Brutal honesty is a fun tool sometimes :)

i say its to send my relatives money overseas as its cheaper on fees

Gyft.com, via this website you can buy and send gift cards for virtually any freaking store, restaurant, etc. Ive used it to buy stuff at best buy with bitcoin, and ive even had someone in Chile use it to buy me a papa johns pizza.

Bitcoins make it very easy to send money to people in other countries, and the fees are usually lower, etc, depending on how it gets cashed out.

Tell them you do computer work on the side and none of your customers ever have backups for their data and they keep getting hit with ransomware and want to save their data, so you have to keep a steady supply of BTC in order to do so, but that you hope they'll start learning the importance of backing up the 12,034 pictures of their grand babies, but you know it will never happen and you get good business because of it, so fuck it, let the good times roll.

Oh, and you do it offline and local because it's quicker and you have to save the grand babies before the time runs out.

I tell them I sell Bitcoin at 10% commission and they all sit in awe cuz I'll max out my account every other day haha

[2 Points] despitegirls:

Gyft has been mentioned, I would also say that you buy when the exchange rate is better using Bitcoin. I used to buy Xbox cards on sale when they used points because it was cheaper to buy the cards on sale and net the points than to just buy the points directly.

when they ask "REALLY"

Say "NO!"

then get your pin and leave.

I love saying it's anonymous private charity. Technically true

[1 Points] motherfuckingtheresa:

Clearly its just for purchasing John Prine albums online.

[1 Points] None:

you could say you use it for csgo betting, they won't know what that is nor will they question decently sized volumes of money being moved

[1 Points] Tweek-er_Timmy:

i took about $20,000 to a single store last yr without a problem.

{{ tell em the truth }} ....saving this money in the bank brought me about $1 in intrest before, what a joke. screw banks i use my savings to buy this bitcoin an wait til the prices rises then sell it at a profit, when the price drops i come here an buy again. so really i,m just bringing the same $$$ back each time. sorta just like the stock market.

then when done an you get ur pin papers smile an slide a $20 to the clerk.

oh after ya go over a grand bought the fee goes to 2.9%. bummer but not killer. (buy 300$ pin recieve $290 in btc) also buying the full daily limit of 1,000 will trigger ur acc. to frezze until ID verfied.

None of your business :) now are you going to sell me the card, or are we going to have any problems here?

[1 Points] None:

whats wrong with saying "fuck off none of your damn bussiness"? he is not doing you any favor, you are not his friend and "drawing" attention is getting drugs delivered to you, not purchasing bitcoins.

[1 Points] ckintra:

easy: "i dont feel safe using my credit/debit card for online purchases"

[1 Points] EastOaklandCase_Boys:

Some legitamite online stores offer discounts for bitcoins. Sort of like a "promo code" at the end of sale or something. Some legit sites offer 20% off total price if bitcoin is used as payment.

[1 Points] KwikEMart_DNM:

Say its an investment thing. You're a tech nerd who read a lot about it. Just say "its kind of like stocks".

[1 Points] kh4a:

I use spectrocoin for my purchases. Its amazing, because I can deposit money in any local shop around, and the only people using those deposit cash registers in my country are the old ladies who don't know how to pay their taxes online. So I just walk in, give the money, give the barcode smile and thats it.

[1 Points] idkwtfnotme:

You enjoy online gambling? That works well for btc questions..

[1 Points] None:

Ive been asked and made the wrong response then I was told I could not purchase the Bitcoin.

Things like gambling are illegal.

Best to say nothing.

[1 Points] DarkDickMarketplace:

Use cash deposit through localbitcoins. Problem solved. You have to talk to a bank teller but all they know you're doing is depositing money.

[1 Points] polaroidandroid1:

LibertyX probably knows everyone is lying

I'm investing in Ethereum. Short, but not rude, preferably uninformative answers are good in this situation.

[1 Points] ledergs:

The normal clerk I buy from wasn't there, who doesn't question it, but this new guy was confused by me buying it. First time I've ever been asked.

Response: "uhhh. pauses it's just online currency, we buy whatever we need."

Literally looked at me like I buy guys and shit, laughs a little bit and hands me my codes

[1 Points] bhhoe:

shit my tifoil hat fell off awhile ago, i just buy my coin from circle with my debit card. ive been doing it for so long it just plain out looks normal to the bank and circle never questions me for anything, ive even sold coin i had on nuclues to them and then i complained when it wasnt instant and they still didnt say shit to me. problem solved, no need to see anyone. i used to use localbitcoin and cash but that was just so skechy going to a bank and depositing mad money every week. besides now it takes me about 2 min to have my money to electrum and i dont have to get off my ass.

[1 Points] 180K:

I only used Libertyx once before the blew town, clerk just assumed it was some instant payment, bitcoin didn't even come up. Damn you libertyx for leaving the whole damn state!
