[GeneralQuestions] Do vendors list their prices in BTC or in another currency

Might work differently from market to market so let's say for Evo.

example

Lists at 20$ - Evo then creates and updates the listing to match current BTC value.

Lists at xxxbtc - Vendor then reposts(or edit?) listing manually to account for btc fluctuation

Which one is it?

They list it in USD and it automatically gets converted into BTC. Vendors don't have to manually update prices.

FWIW I have seen a couple vendors who price solely in BTC, but they are not common.

We are usually forced to convert £ down to $, then price in US$

Right now a good old british pound is worth almost exactly one and a half mickey mice. Then marketplaces usually convert to bitcoin using bitstamp.

[1 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

When you click "buy" it fixes the price in bitcoin.

Have 5 different browser tabs open and click "buy" on the same item every day for 5 days, but don't confirm the transactions. Every day it will be a different price.

Only confirm the cheapest one when you come to buy.

( a little tip to defraud us vendors).

Most of the markets will let you choose which currency you'd like to price an item in. You generally get the choice of either USD or BTC. But some markets, like Cloud 9 did, will let you set your pricing in one of any number of currencies so you can work in your local denominations (could be bhat, rubles, euros, etc...). The price you set is then automatically converted over to the current BTC price which is usually checked every hour against exchanges like Bitstamp and BTC-e. What customers pay is the price of an item plus it's shipping fee expressed in BTC at the current exchange rate.

Additionally, the markets will also let your price an item directly in BTC. If, say, I wanted to start offering some sort of service and charge 2 BTC for it, I could set the price at 2 BTC and it would always be set at 2 BTC.
