Help for a new user!

What's up! First off, I just wanna say thanks to the mods and whoever else put all of those helpful links and information on the sidebar and in previous posts. I'd be clueless without that.

I have never purchased anything on the DN before so I have an amazing amount of questions, but I will only ask a couple here ;-)

First, I know what a VPN is (sorta) but do I absolutely need one to place an order? I am doing all my shopping through the Tor browser, that's about the extent of my knowledge as far as how to go about this is in a safe way.

Also, what is a PGP? Is that necessary? How do I go about setting that up?

Is the "Silk Road 3" as dangerous as some people have written, or is it legitimate/trustworthy? Other than that it appears that East India and Alpha Bay have large selections, and good reviews, would you all agree with that? Any other recommendations would be much appreciated!

Thanks again for reading this. If you could answer any questions or send me any links that would help clear things up for me I'd really appreciate it!

Have you checked out /r/DarkNetMarketsNoobs yet? VPNs are not 100% necessary but you would be better off with it. Same goes for Tails, if you are making one or 2 purchases you should be fine with doing it just through the tor browser. PGP IS 100% NECESSARY! Check dmnnoobs to see how to set it up (I think). I would stay away from SR3 (I have heard that the admin is a huge bag-o-dicks). Abraxas and nucleus are markets I prefer, but its all up to you which market you use.

im pretty new too, but im loving alphabay, abraxas, and nucleus so far they seem to be were most the legit sellers are, and also being new be cautious of FE orders your cash wont sit in escrow there for higher chance to get selectively scammed

To learn more about and practice go to /r/gpgpractice helpful folks there, get more comfortable with encryption.
