Obviously they can't open everything so how do they decide what gets searched? What is the path of a package going through customs?
Has anybody ever worked in customs or have lnowledge of how it works?

From the UK, all packages larger than letters get scanned before they're loaded on a plane. This is done to detect dangerous goods, not drugs, but it's safe to assume drug packages will sometimes get caught at this point. Any domestic UK mail that is put on a plane will also be scanned, such as from Southern England to Scotland, though most vendors don't realise this. Each country will scan incoming packages, but letters often bypass all checks due to the sheer number of items and limited amounts that could be concealed. Dogs will rarely be used initially, they can only be used for a limited time each day so they are usually saved for checking items that have already been flagged.

Yo . Go on YouTube and type in customs documentary . I saw a video on there about 30 mins long or so (maybe shorter than that can't remember) about them finding packages with drug dogs and what not. They apparently have tens of thousands of packages to sort and shit so they don't have enough time to scrutinize everything. I saw in the video they grabbed probably 25-40 packages on the ground and had a dog off the leash to go sniff all the packages, and the dog sat in front of the one they searched and found drugs in. They can't do it to every package, but you'd better pray yours wouldn't get taken for the inspection with some dope lmao.

Ive seen some video of customs in a documentry on the replica watch market and its pretty much as everyone says, xraying freights and some dogs, they pretty much pick a few of the big containers to go through a day based on the xrays and hope they get lucky, the rest just goes straight through

ive posted this a bunch of times here, but this court ruling details pretty specifically how package inspections and controlled deliveries go down from customs to local LE

I have no experience in the field but I assume they have dogs and xray machines along with pure instinct to decide which packs should be scrutinized heavily.
And then there are the countries like the Netherlands that always get looked at in more detail I'm sure.

There is also the obvious units involved, dog unit, investigative unit, undercover unit etc. Customs is just like the police. How the police units are divided, Customs is the same. If your Pablo, and bringing it in by tonne, then Customs have specialist that do these searches, referred to as their Marine unit. They have units for Trains, Aircraft and most probably Space Ships.

Think about it like this: you know the xray inspectors at the airport? Well those guys dont look at each image too long, just long enough to spot anything that looks illegal going through (namely weapons). Now im not sure how many mail parcels go through a single customs postal center, but the numbers must be extremely high. It would be quite difficult physically examine x-ray photos of each parcel. At least to the extent that the TSA looks.

They do stuff. They poke stuff. They open stuff. When they find drugs it's pure dumb luck

look up the TV series "border security"

to merely profile a package through the X-ray with nothing else is very difficult to do. now when you involve other factors like LE looking for a specific pack theyve profiled thats a different story.

Most countries have technology to detect drugs based on the color of the package as it passes on a conveyor belt, through a x-ray type system. This is usually manned by 1 or 2 people. Not all suspected packages are parked for search. Ones that are not searched but still show a trace of a distinct color, will be tagged - usually recipient address tagged/photographed. In other cases, all sides of the package will be tagged, then dispatched for delivery. If it doesn't show a significant color, it should be sent on as usual and not "tagged". That "tagged" database would be GOLD to certain agencies, be it private or Government.
LOL just kidding

Why do you care? I would advise against shipping or receiving packages internationally. You sound like a 10 years old kid who wants to be the next El Chapo. Good luck kid.
