Most likely through stolen credit cards, yes. And you pretty much mentioned most of the risks, granted you wouldn't be in as much trouble as the card scammer. From most personal stories i know of people will only complain about a charge once they notice it on their bill and the card company will usually cover it. My father actually had someone steal his info and racked up 2k worth of hotel charges a few years ago. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is honestly.

A lot of these are done using hacked travel rewards/points accounts that are then transferred to an account you control so it's in your name. So slightly less risky than using straight up stolen credit cards I guess?

Either way it's definitely not worth the risk

Someone recently stole my credit card information and purchased a flight to Mexico with it. They also booked a hotel. The charges didn't even pop up as a fraud alert on my credit card but it did with United Airlines. They knew that the charge was fraudulent because I had just used that card to book a flight about two weeks earlier (in my name). The new booking used the same card but had a completely different passenger. The airlines look at both reservations, looked up my cell phone number, and called me asking about this guy trying to fly out of Detroit to Mexico.

I obviously told them that I hadn't purchased the flight for this guy and they told me that they would reverse the charges to my card. I got the feeling that they were gonna have this guy show up to the airport and have him detained by some sort of law enforcement. The airlines weren't fucking around and had actually gone to the trouble of calling me only a few hours before this guy's flight (and in the middle of the night--1 or 2am).

Anyway, my point of this is that you probably don't want to engage in this. It's shitty and you're gonna get fucked.

I'm gonna assume you're referring to a listing from CashOutCalvin, as that sounds like him. It's always 30% of retail price with him. You should know, if it is, that he has been banned from every market I've ever seen him on, and had many, many reviews for being a scammer. Even if not, having known someone he scammed, but spoke to over email, it IS with skimmed credit card information, and he IS NOT intelligent about it. I'm honestly shocked he hasn't been caught yet. I would seriously advise against it. Sorry.

Not sure about the listing, but I card travel tickets, I've had one close call and the person had to pay the ticket cost to the airline but otherwise it's been relatively smooth if you know what you're doing.

I knew Valvex, the biggest fraud flight+hotel seller, he says the complains he got was that customers got sent the bill lol, so you might end up owing the money to the airline.

Try one with a foreign airline so no biggie for your credit score.

Worst case scenario you get it cancelled on the airport and they don't give you the ticket, don't listen to the fools saying LE will be waiting in the airport.

I know someone that used a similar vendor for a super high end hotel stay. Got an amazing deal and it was done through some kind of points scam, as the room was booked with his info.

After flying to this exotic place, he arrived at the hotel to find his reservation was cancelled and he could not rebook. They wouldn't tell him why, but simply gave him the number for their corporate security guy.

The vendor had a lot of 100% positive feedback, but my friend learned how. Since the deal auto finalizes by the time the reservation comes up.(I assume they didn't take last minute reservations) Then when a customer gets fucked, the vendor can demand positive feedback in exchange for your refund.

A refund does fuck all to refund your other expenses, time off work, etc. It's just not worth the risk reward ratio.
