It's surprising to me how many people here don't get that PGP is safe, only as in "safe is they find a PGP message in the wild and don't have the passwords."

Some random person who doesn't realize that their plaintext message being keystroke logged and streamed to the NSA is not, in fact, secure.

Or the screencap one, taking pictures oft he decoded message.

Or any of the other ways the actual data in the PGP message is attainable, despite being "unbeatable"

I haven't used PGP since the late 1990s. I had a government job, and was forced to PGP some data before sending it (often through the post! It was quicker).

Then one day we weren't allowed to use it anymore because "we get the keys at the same time you do. We don't have to crack anything".

A man from GCHQ took all our PGP disks away in a cardboard box.
