N00b question 1 - Why are these onion links not https?

N00b question 2 - Any way to circumvent the following - Using tails/tor and encounter a WiFi hotspot that requires me to open up a 'terms of agreement' page before I am able to browse.

Why are these onion links not https?

The Tor protocol already encrypts all traffic end to end between you and an onion site. There is usually no need for the extra layer of encryption. Also, since no one issues certificates for onion sites, everyone would get the "Untrusted Site" warning from their browser when they connected to the onion site, which might unnecessarily scare people off.

I don't know how to circumvent it, but that is what the "Unsafe Browser" is for in Tails, so that you can agree to that and enter any password needed before you are able to connect to the Tor network with the Tor Browser.
