Idea: Decrease the SNR for mail items by throwing traces of drugs into mailboxes?

Maybe this idea has been raised before, but does anyone want to discuss what would happen if a concerted effort was made to regularly throw traces of drugs (finely ground up marijuana for example) into as many postboxes as possible? If enough was thrown in, perhaps even the mail handling equipment would become sufficiently contaminated that it would rub off onto mail all throughout sorting stations and trucks. Has anyone tried this before just to fuck with the system?

Of course the scope would be limited but if drug dogs doubled, tripled or quadrupled their false positive alert rate, that's a crapload more work for mail and customs staff that are already overstretched.

Drug dogs don't actually have any effectiveness. They're a visual deterrent and probable cause vending machines. Don't act like you're doing something you shouldn't and you'll be fine.

USPS processes 6,000 pieces of mail a second. I don't think ANY mail gets run by dogs unless they have some other reason to suspect it has drugs in it. Even with thousands of dogs, they could only check a miniscule fraction of the mail.

So I don't think your approach would make a difference.

It's been talked about before

One of the cocaine cowboys suggested doing this. He thought spraying a bunch of shit with residue it could trigger a shitload of false positives.

As to its effectiveness, who knows. Domestically, the amount of mail checked by drug dogs is minuscule compared with the overall mail. Mail is often seized for other reasons. Package profiles, package breaks/busts opened, RTS. Its not terribly common for a pack to get uncovered via a totally random inspection method.

This is not a smart idea. Why would we want MORE of our mail searched and the whole prcessed slowed down? How about just buying from vendors with good stealth?

I think it would take an awful lot of people doing this a lot to make any difference, but I like the way you think. I have fantasized about making a liquid extract of weed, shitty weed like shake that growers might have a lot of, make an alcohol extract and rig up something on my car so that, for example, waiting at a stop light you could push a button and spray some extract on the car next to you. Just spray some on as many cars as possible, surreptitiously, as you normally drive around. Same thing, though, wouldn't make any difference unless a hell of a lot of people were doing it. I would really like to see cops have to quit using fucking dogs to violate 4th amendment rights, haha damn dog just sitting there alerting on everything.
