Question For Heroin Users

For personal use I have only ever smoked pot and done some psychedelics. From research online and what people have told me heroin is an extremely addictive drug.
Is there anyone that isn't addicted to it and just does it occasionally? Just curious if there are people out there that don't have an addiction potential.
Edit: Dont plan on using H. Lots of people think I want to try it, no, I honestly am just super curious about addiction in people.

With heroin I'd say (not an expert, but have been addicted). There is definitely an addiction potential for everyone. For me it creeped up. I was using pills on weekends, that translated to 5 days a week, then I was getting sick on my off days so I started using everyday, then heroin because it was cheaper.

I don't think heroin is, in itself, more 'addicting' than most other opiates, it's just cheaper, per dose, than pharms, so people hooked on pills move to heroin.

I love a good opiate high, but for the opiate naive user, I'd recommend pharms. Sure that are more expensive, but if you have no local access and you buy a few pills at a time from the dnms, you know what you're dosing at and you can sort of regulate your supply.

It's a fun high, but you're playing with fire.

Opiates ruin your endogenous opioid system aka they ruin your life. I speak from first hand experience. My advice is just don't even get started. It'll feel good though, until you run out. Prepare to pay back any good feelings ten fold if you use regularly. Withdrawals suck.

well, i'm no expert, but everybody i know who has done it, is now a addicted to the point of going back to jail countless times for theft just to get it. I don't know a single person who has done it and hasn't become addicted. My ex-girlfriend started using after we broke up, and she had friends and family that liked her. she became addicted and lost everything. although she isn't using now (I assume) she's on subuoxone and she spends 2-3 hours a day 5-6 days a week in drug classes and the only people she knows are ex-addicts or current addicts. everyone she associates with is an addict or ex-addict and all they do is focus on not doing it. it's like she doesn't even have a life anymore. if they weren't so fucked up on suboxone all day i'm positive they would using as we speak. i know this because i am in classes at the same center, but just for marijuana. Friends i went to high school with would go on robbing sprees to get cash for the drug and even stealing very large quantities from close friends and family. From what i can see, it's not something you even want to get close to (but im sure you have heard that i i know you said you dont plan on using) but i wouldn't even think about it, no matter how much i think it can be used recreationally. the people i see in these classes make me think there is no hope for recreational use. at some point or another, it's got you by your balls in a vice. No offense to anyone that has gone through this, but i honestly never want to end up like these people. their entire lives seem like they just revolve around trying their best not to do it again, but time and time again, they fail. My ex has messaged me countless times when she was using for sexual favors for just a little bit of cash to get more. who knows who else she has done this to. its a quick way to ruin a life and to sum it up because i know i went on a tangent here. from everything i have seen being in classes with 10-20 addicts who cycle in and out and people i have personally known. not one single person has not become addicted or beat it. to me there is absolutely no hope for recreational use, of course there are outliers, but you get the point

Hello. Opiate chipper of about a decade. I've done heroin about a dozen times... AMA?

Currently use 2-4 times per year with kratom in between.

You have a chance of winning the lottery too. Pretty much everyone goes down the same road. If you start using once a month, it's likely going to happen more and more until you reach the point of diminishing returns. Then you may not be the same for the rest of your life.

So, it almost comes down to the choice to never do heroin or opiates. Or do them for the rest of your life. Doing it for the rest of your life comes with a lot of shitty problems. So, unless you have an endless supply and endless source of income. I would avoid it at all costs.

With that said, it makes you feel good when you feel shitty, but eventually makes you feel shitty and nothing feels good. A lot of people start out using occasionally and it increases. But even if you only do it 4 times a year. It will start to take its toll on you mentally. It changes you.

[2 Points] ThrowitoutASAP:

I started using it occasionally. I mainly snorted it. IV'ed once. Best drug I've ever taken and it was always in my head of when I can get some more. Eventually I just stopped because of how much I thought about it. I wouldn't say I was addicted but luckily I stopped before it was too late. Idk of anyone who has used occasionally over a long term period. I know a few who only used once but that's it.

U-47 tho...I'd say it was more addicting because how cheap it was and how short the high was so I was constantly redosing. Meanwhile with H I only used once and I was set for the rest of the day.

[2 Points] Nutsnbolts12345:

There's a lot of variables to take in to consideration: mental state, availability, ROA, family history, setting, etc. I used heroin on occasion for years. I would order a gram or so of #4 and either do it all very quickly or work on it over an extended period of time. I developed a problem when I found a local connect started shooting it up with my sister while I was in a deep depression.

Addiction and heroin don't have to go hand in hand but heroin is a hard drug to keep under control and there's a lot more to it than just, "heroin is addictive."

Is there anyone that isn't addicted to it and just does it occasionally?

Me. I use about 3 times a month or less. Snorting, not IV.

[2 Points] RndRecreationalUser7:

I started off "chipping", just using some h or oxy every so often to get high. Then I turned into a bundle-a-day sniffer until I went bankrupt; I stopped before I resorted to theft. Now I do actually use only once in a while (I try to keep it to no more than once per month), because I know where the road can go, and it's fun to take a quick joyride down it once in a while but I know it ends at a place I do not want to be...

I however do fear I have permanently altered my baseline tolerance though, and that kind of worries me a little bit...but yes I do only use "occasionally" now (famous last words)

[2 Points] BakedPastaParty:

Im probably what you would consider an "occasional" user, never used a needle, never let it affect my personal life. I take long periods off, and then ill use, say every other day, or for a weekend or something like that for a short period and then take another break. Been successfully doing this for a few years now....i would absolutely be hopelessly addicted if i didnt keep it in check this way, though. I could stay off it, but i choose to get high because i fucking love everything about it. the rush of copping (IRL or online both have their own pros) busting it apart, the taste the drip, the legs the nods I fucking savor it.....but yeah, even if you take it semi regularly it will definitely swallow you up in its addictive grasp

Do some research on kratom.

[1 Points] TrippyPanda47:

I'm not addicted to H and use it occasionally. Tonight for example. I got a couple bundles of H, a gram of some HQ cocaine, and about a 1/4 gram of cocaine freebase (first time trying it, don't see the hype around crack tbh).

Needless to say, I feel AMAZING. I do not IV, strictly insufflation and smoking/vaporizing today.

I've also taken about 1.5mg of CLam throughout the day, but I have been very aware of my breathing, before & after dosing anything. I have a fairly high benzo tolerance due to a past addiction to xanax, and a mild opiate tolerance due to recent Heroin usage this past few weeks (maybe every 1-2 days, but only 1-2 buns on average. 3.5 in a day at the most).

With all that said, I do not, and will NEVER recommend this combination to anyone under any circumstances. Many people have died due to combining benzodiazepines and opiates, and I do not want to contribute to that number in any way.

[1 Points] Just4theDrama:

Ask many people addicted to Heroin. And they would wish to Never ever have tried opioids or heroin. Your are now at this stage. Don't take the risk. It can and Most probably will put you life upside down. don't take that risk.

[1 Points] DiscoverInfo:

I have used heroin intermittenly in the past 2 years, maybe 3-4 times a year. It is great high and I love it. I also recognize its destructive power and stay the fuck away in the period in between.
