What does the darknet have to offer in terms for cryto currency exchanges? Sites where I can sell one type of bitcoin for another?

There is only one type of bitcoin. There will never be a darknet exchange if you think about it,
At least, not a good one like localbtcoins. Only terrible US-style ones with bank accounts attached that take more than 30 mnutes to buy or sell bitcoin and the site knows who you are.
Bitcoin isn't welcome in the US. tt doesn't actually exist, or care about the darknet / clearnet because it doesn't move through the internet. There are just copies of a database with everybody's tab called "the blockchain"on computers around the world. The balance of everybody's bar tab is updated every 10 minutes everywhere.
Bitcoins don't "flow" like emails or ip packets between computers, live in a phone or in a vault deep in a mountain. If I pay you a bitcoin, your address in the blockchain has plus 1 added, and mine has minus 1 added. You have one more, but no coins "flowed". Bitcoins don't exist. They are just an idea to help us to understand the blockchain. A bitcoin wallet is just an app on a computer or (non-Apple) phone which controls one or more addresses in the blockchain. Bitcoin addresses are free and unlmited because they are like a bar tab with a zero written on them.
Hopefully, we've established that bitcoins live everywhere, and nowhere. They live in the blockchain, and more than 50% of the blockchain copies are under british control. That's a bad thing, because it means we could steal everyone's bitcoin, and a good thing, because we won't.
The US government and Apple hate bitcoin. Its competiton with the dollar and i-pay respectively. The US government has slapped tax on bitcoin. The UK government, realizing that its impossble to collect tax on a pseudenomnous thing that doesn't exist, have made it tax-free. That's why you let us look after your bitcoin. Really, you should have your own wallet, you're a big boy now. You should be as pleased to see bitcoin as you are to see your postman. But you're an american teenager, right?
You're scared that the postman will open your mail and tell your mom. You would wear asbestos gloves to handle bitcoin if you could, so you keep them in the UK at blockchain.info, and talk to them using TOR. At least, UNTIL TOR EXIT NODES STARTED STEALNG YOUR BLOCKCHAIN DETAILS.
So keep your bitcoin close. if you keep them somewhere else, don't use the chinese whispers of TOR
Lets go back to basics. Why do we use bitcoin to buy and sell naughty things?
WE USE BITCOIN SO WE DON'T HAVE TO MEET FACE-TO-FACE, OR KNOW EACH OTHER'S BANK DETAILS.
Furthermore:-
AT A BITCOIN EXCHANGE, THE SELLER GIVES THEIR BANK DETAILS, OR MEETS YOU FACE-TO-FACE SO YOU CAN EXCHANGE CASH.
Have a lookn at those hundreds of bitcoin groups on Facebook. There are hapless fools who think bitcoin s used to buy pizzas or graphics cards at overstock dot com. When bitcoin's price skyrockets or tanks, they blame "China". Its always good to blame China, BUT THEY ACTUALLY MEAN IT. They don't know why bitcoin took off, or what we use it for. Its these investors, geeks and halfwits who legitimize our bitcoin use. We quietly slip in amongst them, pretend to be geeks and hope that nobody looks at our pupils.
AT A CLEARNET EXCHANGE, THE PERSON SELLING BITCOINS MAY NOT BE A DRUG VENDOR.
THE PERSON BUYING BITCOIN MAY NOT BE A DRUG USER!
Do you see where I'm going with this? You and I don't want to know anything about each other. Half of you don't even want to tell me where to post your drugs to!
Many of you don't know how letters work, you're scared of your mum, the postman and drug dealers. You would do EVERYTHING through the darknet if you could. BUT BEING SCARED CAUSES POOR DECISION-MAKING.
Simply put, if you buy bitcoins through a darknet exchange, everybody knows that you buy drugs wth it
If I sell bitcoin through a darknet exchange, everybody knows that I earned it by selling drugs.
Hell, we may as well use cash on Agora! But you shouldn't feel stupid for asking, because there are lots of new DNM users who don't understand bitcon, and insist on doing dangerous things that "feel" safe, like using bitcoin tumblers BEFORE the drug deal has made the bitcoin suspicious.

trading crypto is entirely legal... and there is no advantage of doing via tor. you actually set yourself up for getting MITM'ed this way.

Just use the clearnet?
Why use the darknet? You'll just pay a premium. Hell. If you want to pay a premium I can manually switch your coins to another currency. ;-)
